I wanted to try painting a Rathalos from Monster Hunter. I'm unsure if I tried painting one in the past, but I feel like this one helped me learn a lot with layering watercolors. This painting ended up being many many layers of trusting the process, which I feel helped me understand a bit more about my approach to layers with watercolors. I still have plenty to learn, but I feel happy seeing some improvement.
I think he turned out better than the Lavasioth, and I'll probably end up painting more.

A piece I finished just before New Years hit, and thus forgot to post it. I wanted to do one more elaborate Illustration before the last weeks of my semester hit
A little unrelated to CotL, I wanted to show off a lil bit of dragon art featuring Poltergeist, a dragon based off an actual planet of the same name that orbits a pulsar.
Deor society has a vast number of beasts, and of course, what would beasts be without the presence of dragons?
Dragons are placed alongside with Deors, as they do not fit with Angeles. They come with two subtypes—Wyverns and Beardes.
Wyverns derive from the medieval era, spirits of dragons that were slain by the swords of men. The afterlife homes them alongside the deors, given how they distain most angels, especially knights. Instead of power, they take in pride. Their ego as flaming as their fire. Most believe to even be above both angels and deors, despite them still being categorized as deor men.
Most akin to their spirits, they are typically scaly in appearance; having hard, resilient skin and sharp edges. Their snouts are pointy, and their horns and claws are their main choice of impaling. A walking furnace, they most certainly breath fire. Having to maintain their body temperature regularly, they process their smoke ethically and consume coal to fuel themselves. Coal isn’t very tasty, but with plenty of processing they can use coal in a variety of meals!
Beardes are a delicate type. They present the wisdoms of dragons. Their temperament of a viscous dragon is never surfaced when encountering a bearde, and they are probably the most easy to get along with. Beardes are known for their fetlocks and bearded faces, which is a very prominent trait in females. They have lesser sharp features, and more grace in their forms. Many of them take roles of guardians and counselors, given that they are experts in the mind and the history of afterlife.
Their differences between Wyverns are most noticed on how they do not acquire scales or hard ridged skin, nor do they breathe fire. Their uses of defense deprave back to their use of weaponry and even their teeth, but they collaborate amongst each other to create mechanics, weapons and goods—materials discarded from Wyverns are used, such as their scales for protection and horns for dragon bone weaponry.
