so! all of this was already done by the time i posted the enemies. the delay isn’t *entirely* because of the tablet issues, i just managed to get distracted by making: even more redraws! i’d say new update soon but after what happened last time i shouldn’t jinx myself. but! almost All of the art for the initial mod release is done!!!! exciting!!!!!!

hey did you know that the original teleport map is slightly off center. did you know that. that’s not the case for the redraw for the record but it did make things a little harder. despite that, i think you can tell i was having fun with the dormont part of the map. i would’ve put more detail into the house, but we never really get a more detailed look at it??? and i didn’t want to make assumptions. so that part’s just traced from the original 👍. anyways shoutout to the clocktower being Curved for whatever reason

outside of those, all of the added art is actually just spritework. i didn’t know this at first, but there’s a TON of copies of sprites from the icon set. Basically Everywhere. so those are added now! and should work properly! also added a few sprites that were Missing from my original batch. not going to put them all here, but a few Important ones (which i actually had to make new art for) are the rock paper scissors cheatsheet, the Larger versions of the craft signs (used in the calamité fight and. probably somewhere else idk), and the craft signs for the tutorial kid fight!

aaaand i think that’s it! for stuff from this update. yeah no there’s more coming buddy. my tablet already broke one time this week there’s no way it’s happening twice. i’m not working on portraits Just Yet (though the temptation has been There), but i’ve got the title screens, a few backgrounds, and the ending cgs done! along with a few other assorted cgs sketched out. because im out of my fucking mind. so, uh, see you soon!! enjoy!!

i adore how mxtx sorta flipped the idea on the whole top/bottom thing with svsss, and just BL relationships in general.

making bingqiu very open to switching, not making the "bottom" super feminine and actually leaning more to the handsome side compared to the "top", how luo binghe is manipulative sensitive and cries easily, etc. one of the main themes in svsss is literally about sexuality (and possibly even about gender roles).

as a queer asian man myself, i absolutely despise the "yaoi archetype" and it was one of the reasons why i avoided consuming BL media. hell, years ago when i first saw heavens official blessing, i mentally groaned and went, "ugh, let me guess, the bottom is super feminine and innocent, while the top is masculine and experienced." of course, that's not the case now, but it's disappointing how that thought was there purely because of the god awful way fetish-y media portrays homosexual people and couples. because, believe it or not, we are not assigned male/female typical gender roles just because one likes to top/bottom (and even then, it's not even like that! some people have preferences, sure, but it's not so strictly "i'm top/bottom")

so, while i absolutely LOVE the english novel designs (especially luo binghe's cute curly hair, gongyi xiao, etc, and personally believe a lot of the takes from the western artist on the designs are an improvement), i am greatly saddened by people subconsciously assigning shen qingqiu as someone more delicate and feminine and luo binghe as someone super masculine and muscly. like, if you're going to have luo binghe depicted as the western design (i believe this stems from binghe being applied to more western ideals for men, and, admittedly, i actually really love his design), at least don't make shen qingqiu feminine and delicate? don't have his appearance play into the stupid yaoi thing?

i get that people have different takes on svsss, especially how the western version depicts it. but, people just... seem to very over exaggerate the top/bottom roles when it comes to bingqiu (again, these two are, canonically, VERY open to switching).

it's weird, it's uncomfortable, and it comes across as, "so, who wears the pants in the relationship?"

so, can we please have more canonically handsome shen qingqiu? canonically beautiful and pretty boy luo binghe (they literallly state that binghe looks EXACTLY like his mom, su xiyan! while a more handsome woman, is still very beautiful!! plus it is stated several times that binghe is slim, and that shang qinghua made him that way!) or at the very least, a BL couple who actually look like normal people (ok thats a little hard considering binghe is literally supposed to be perfect) and not just a stupid fetishized version of themselves.

and no, i'm not saying that queer men shouldn't be feminine or men who are feminine shouldn't be in a relationship with guys who are masculine, etc.

TLDR: please stop twinkifying shen qingqiu and going against what mxtx defied for us queer men (the stupid yaoi roles). and for the love of whoever you believe in, do NOT think that i hate the english design or people's personal interpretation of characters, i just hate the subconscious assigning of gender roles to bingqiu and how media portrays and fetishizes LGBTQ+ relationships in general.

edit: also i love teardrew's (check them out on twitter!) interpretation of shang qinghua. while i do really like the the eng novel design's tiny scared hamster vibes, teardrew's version just radiates "up to no good, paranoid but suspicious looking bitch" rat man and i love it so so so much. i'm not gonna repost their art bc i don't know how they feel about that but perhaps you can search up "svsss designs" on here, you'll see it pop up eventually lol.

edit 2 (1/16): i just saw someone reblog a post (that im pretty sure was referring to this one because, well, if you saw it i think it'd be a little clear kahxj) that was about how bingqiu switching and completely eschewing traditional top/bottom dynamics was a fandom idea or smth? so now i'm wondering, since i swear i remember that they were open to switching, but it's just that sqq preferred to bottom and/or was just a little too lazy to top. plus, sqq is a pretty unreliable narrator who says he doesn't want something one moment and then he does. how could he say no to bingbing? esp if he seems to wanna try bottoming too. perhaps i'm mixing things up though, idk? so if anyone can find that passage that says he only and strictly wants to bottom or whatever please show me! but i think the point of this post still stands haha (i wanted to ask about it, actually, but when i clicked on the og post's user it turned out that they blocked me ? so that was a little surprising oops. hey if ur somehow reading this, im... sorry for making you want to block me bc of this post? akdhxjj)

You don't have to respond to this, I just don't have anyone irl who likes DA as much as me, but as a big fan of Origins I keep hoping for the next game to scratch an itch for me and with each game I get further and further from what I'm looking for. The in depth character backgrounds (that had real impact on the game!), the combat (it turns out I lothe RTS unless it's DAO but for some reason I love DAO's combat so much), and the impact of your choices are all things that seem to diminish with each game. I also agree with your frustration at not being able to be mean, I'm usually a goodie two shoes in games but my favorite Warden was one I made pragmatic and comfortable with authority to a dangerous degree because the brutal choices in Awakening result in the best outcomes for Ferelden. Plus even if you prefer the kind choices, you can't make choices unless you're given them. Luckily there's BG3 and Avowed coming out but it still feels like such a loss every time a new DA is released.

I feel the same way. I'm ride-or-die for Thedas as a world — the lore is easy to jump into and the amount of half-truths makes speculation really fun — but the games have strayed further and further from my personal tastes.

No DA entry is the same in its approach or execution, so I think having mixed opinions is completely natural.

Compared to Mass Effect which sticks to it's formula pretty closely from ME1 to Andromeda, DA is constantly changing. I think it could have benefited from more consistency. I understand why that wasn't always possible.

You're allowed to be disappointed or wistful or critical without it being construed as like...giving ammunition to bozos or tearing the developers down.

If we can't discuss those things what are we supposed to do? Sit in a circle pretending those features never mattered lol? That I never liked having more roleplay freedom, never liked companion relationships having more tension, never cared about tactics? No I don't think I will.

And I say this while fully accepting DAV for what it is. Even if I wasn't blessed with a code from EA I had every intention of playing it myself. I bought the art book. I've done two zines this year and contributed to two more. My career revolves around making art directly inspired by Inquisition's. Haven't read all the comics & books but I'm as 'hardcore' as it gets.

Me, of all people, being called a fake fan for wanting blood magic or not feeling the character model proportions shows how emotionally charged and unhinged things have gotten

All that to say: I think the best way to be a fan of anything is to acknowledge the good and the bad and let others do the same. So long as those conversations are in good faith there's nothing to lose and everything to gain fr.

Have some rants about my fav Sonic ships

Trust me when I say this is not what I intended to do for Valentine's day, but my access to the proper materials for my next big project is currently fairly limited, so instead have this (I didn't think I had so much to say I got a bit carried away 👉👈). This is heavy with aro/ace/aroace discourse because as an aroace myself I cannot help it, and huh, reminder that this is just for fun and everyone's opinions are accepted around here as long as it's respectful :3

Espilver is so wholesome I am willing to temporaly remove the aromantic label I put on both these guys. And when an aroace person is ready to drop this label for a ship you know it has to be good. (They're still both asexual idc tho)

I am prone to shipping Sonic with pretty much everyone (elligible for that at least) while thinking he's the biggest aroace mood ever (but I know I am not alone on that one)

Since I've started posting Sonic fanart, there has not been a SINGLE sonadow ship art, but I still really love this ship. Like it's mostly what got me into Sonic in the first place but I don't want to draw it (honestly I think my mind is just drawn to less popular things, I mean sonadow is already everywhere on my dashboard)

Because (except for espilver) my top ships are sonjet and surgamy, I'm basically shipping your two main hedgehogs who are sometimes implied to have feelings for eachother in a gay relationship with a green person with spiky hair and an attitude, and I thought it was funny because it was NOT on purpose xD

Speaking of sonjet I have like three different timelines existing in my mind with this, because I love the "they never dated but they are definitely exes now"/"they tried smt some time ago it didn't work out" narrative, but also the one where Sonic can be the perfect boyfriend and respond to Jet's needs and issues I imagined for him, and also the one where Jet is a total girlfailure of a man who tries to rizz up someone who has zero clue.

I have thought over and over about Blaze ships and my mind just blocks it. At first I thought it was just Silvaze because I was overprotective of my Silver's orientation (when I first saw it I thought "yeah he's aroace", and I'm not a fan of shipping a guy and a girl just because they interact with eachother and are close). But it's everything. Sonaze? I mean she blushed around him on several occasions, so what? I feel like she's just not used to social interaction. Blazamy? I see the fluff, I see the awesome lesbian couple (and I'm an Utena fan, I gotta love the pink/purple yuri), but it doesn't light up anything in me. Are they any other Blaze ships? Idk, but I can't see her with anyone romantically. Never has a character given me so much aroace vibes that the very forces of nature are preventing me to ship her.

Vectilla activates my brain chemistry like crazy. TF you mean the only "sega-approved" ship is between two grown ass people who are not even part of the main character group? And one is a single mother too? Like it's very simple but it's already a norm breaker in my opinion. Though usually a bunch of male characters have their own personally-crafted love interest, they fall in love for no reason and the love is immediately reciprocal because of course it is (*cough* looking at you ninjago). I think it also work because both Vector and Vanilla have their own things going on, and the romance is just a nice plus. And since Team Chaotix is already the peak of Sonic found family, it's also cool to think about the shenanigans with the children (aka Espio, Cream and Charmy). I am a strong Vectilla shipper and I will make you care about them >:)

since my first pinned post had a tierlist of csm characters, i decided to redo it as a tierlist of Fujimoto works instead! (i had only read csm when i made this sideblog) it's a lot less ever-changing so i feel a bit safer keeping something like this at the top of my blog lol...

within the tiers there is no specific order, they're just the things i happened to put in first. if you wanna make one here's the template! (made by yours truly)

because i'm a nerd you can read my opinions about each work below the cut~

S TIER

Chainsaw Man - i mean, csm is just awesome. in all honesty, this manga has changed my life. i KNOW that sounds silly and corny but it's genuinely true. i have been able to get past a lot of my struggles and develop so much as a person since starting this manga. as a fun bonus i feel like i've finally started improving my art again (or at least changing it enough to feel fresh) after like 3 years. i can't really describe how much csm has done for me, but if i had told myself from 2021 that this would happen i would never believe it (especially because i had written off this series for some personal reasons...lol) but yeah. i think i'll forever be grateful for what Chainsaw Man has done for me.

Look Back - i think Look Back is seriously the best piece of media i have ever experienced. i don't think i have ever seen a story so beautifully crafted as this manga, it made me sob when i read it. i remember having to move the manga away from myself so i wouldn't get tears on it. at the time of writing this i am SO SO excited to watch the movie, whenever that will be. i will cry and throw up watching that thing LOL.

Nayuta of the Prophecy - ok maybe i don't TECHNICALLY believe this is an S tier work, but Nayuta is just such a lovable character that i can't possibly rank her any lower. Fujimoto was right to adapt her into csm because she deserves it!! however despite that, this oneshot is the only one that i genuinely wish he would make a sequel to. i think oneshot Nayuta and csm Nayuta are pretty different, so they still don't feel like the same character - i would love to see oneshot Nayuta's personality and relationship with her brother continue to develop!

A TIER

Sisters - one of the few other works i had heard anything about before i started exploring Fujimoto's other stuff, and i definitely felt apprehensive about it. but wow, the fact that Fujimoto is able to take the concept of "girl non-consensually paints her sister naked and it gets displayed on the school wall for everyone to see" and NOT make it weird is crazy! a sweet oneshot that i enjoyed, and love the nuance that was able to be created in such a short amount of time.

Woke-Up-as-a-Girl Syndrome - a really cute take on a silly trope that can often be handled... oddly. i love how much the characters in this really feel like teenagers, doing stupid things but being completely earnest all the while. (Spoilers) i really like how it ends with Toshihide being adamant that he is still male, and also Rie still loving him as he is. very sweet!

Love is Blind - it's no wonder Fujimoto won an honourable mention for this, it's such an adorable and funny oneshot. i was giggling the whole time reading it! i don't really have much to say about it, but i definitely enjoyed it.

Fire Punch - i don't really know where to start with Fire Punch, but wow. it is seriously so impressive to me how good Fujimoto is at tackling such sensitive topics, not shying away from them while also clearly not glorifying them. i also think a big place where Fire Punch shines is character relationships, especially Agni and Togata. they fucked me UPPPPP. it goes off the rails a bit near the end, but i also never got the feeling that it WASN'T what Fujimoto intended with this series. i may not quite get the ending, but it didn't ruin anything for me and i think the rest of Fire Punch is really good at what it does. plus the art is AWESOME ?????

B TIER

Goodbye, Eri - ohhh people might not like me for this one... i'm sorry guys, i just honestly didn't get this manga. i'll definitely reread in the future (me and my sister still haven't finished our sticky notes to read it blurry/clear) but for now i can't rank it any higher. i didn't feel much reading it, and the ending definitely confused me a lot lol. love the art though!

Shikaku - this one's interesting! i thought the story was quite cute, and Shikaku herself is completely adorable. though Yugeru is ummm... not my type let's say. i also do wonder if Makima took any inspiration from Shikaku - she looks similar to her, which to be fair for Fujimoto works probably doesn't mean much (as a lot of his character's look similar to each other /pos), but a clearer comparison is both characters presenting eyeballs they stole from people. (also... if Makima is inspired by Shikaku, is Barem then inspired by Yugeru? yuck) anyways just my speculation, back to the point. the reason this doesn't make its way into A tier is because to me it doesn't really feel like a Fujimoto work? i'm not sure why, but yeah.

C TIER

Mermaid Rhapsody - this one's definitely cute, but as a result of Fujimoto trying to create a "normal story" it unfortunately loses all of the charm of Fujimoto works!! i want it to be weird and fucked up damnit!!!!! though he did succeed in his goal of creating a normal story, so i can't complain too much lol.

Sasaki Stopped a Bullet - i don't have anything against this oneshot, but i think it just doesn't particularly appeal to me. unfortunately nothing in this story grabbed me

D TIER

A Couple Clucking Chickens Were Still Kickin' in the Schoolyard - it's no real surprise this is here, considering it's Fujimoto's first work. overall it was pretty cute, but i'm not all that into aliens..? not much to say lol

@pien-art hullo and awhh thank you! and ooohh nice! and oh man I don't know anything about dyeing haha; I've gotten my yarns from daiso, ebay, etsy, facebook market, local thrift shop, WEBS yarn website (basically lots of different places haha) for the wool strips/sari ribbon I've only gotten them from etsy so far. I tend to try and get yarns that are variegated/multicolor (noro yarn has some really gorgeous multicolor yarn but they can be pretty expensive hence me looking on etsy/ebay people will sell them at a discount sometimes) plus in general you can find a lot of good deals/discounted yarn on etsy

speaking of rug hooking I stg there was another ask about rug hooking but I might've accidentally deleted it? >:'D apologies. it was something about do I tend to buy multicolored yarns only/how many different types of yarn go into a piece (I think). and yes I tend to get the multicolored/variegated yarns (which I chop up and wind into little balls of the individual colors to make it easier for myself when I do projects haha). as for how many types I honestly wouldn't be able to say ahhsa; the leafy one the main body was pretty much all one type of yarn with some minor details in another yarn while the background was made up of a lot of types but it honestly depends.

Hi everyone. my name is Asanatu (call me sana or asa) and I just want to share my success story. Anyways, A+p, Intention, plus the void state was the method I always resonated with with. I also joined and was apart of tumblr pretty actively during the time when these were “the methods.”

I was making so much headway! I manifested money, better looks, better grades and mental health and I even mini shifted. Things were looking bright and I knew my shitty circumstances would be a memory of the past and everything would be easier. Then the switch to states, Neville Goddard,and Edward Arts happened and I was so lost. Then creators who even used the void or a+p were suddenly bullying and attacking people

for thinking thoughts create reality instead of states. They were attacking people for using the void and putting it on the pedestal even though they used it to achieve their dream life 🤡🤡 sucess stories dropped drastically, tensions were tight, and entitlement and shoving states down our throats was happening at an all time high. Honestly I gave up with the law and shifting bc I started to believe a+p truly didn’t work bc everyone was preaching that perspective out of no where even though we all started with that and people used it !!!!! Now the same is happening to non dualism…so it will be even more over complication and entitlement for the competition to be the most all knowing and debunker of the law. It will be less success stories, more tension, and paragraphs upon paragraphs on their beliefs but no success to show for it so I am most definitely leaving tumblr and for anyone who wants recourses maybe read and stick to the og creators from December for. Few posts and then dip

Myself. I’m sending this on anon mode because I have been so rude to so many bloggers and projected my newfound doubt to random, kind, helpful bloggers and I have to apologize. Most of them won’t see this because I’m blocked, but none of you guys deserved it. I would tag them but it was most Loa creators which is so embarrassing to admit, but again I apologize.

After having some self awareness I decided to stop being a loser and take accountability for my own life. I said fuck it and went back to a+p and the void state. I just affirmed robotically and used some subliminals for the void state from popular successful void blogs. After two weeks I got into the void state and manifested my dream life. After complaining and procrastinating for 6 months. As much as tumblr is toxic and the dumb entitled energy is radiating extra bright you all have to grow up and stick to what works for you. You have free will and godly powers no matter how many big headed bloggers try to intimidate you.

A summary of my manifestations from the void are: millionaire parents, 4.3 cumulative gpa, being apart of my schools honors society, dream graduation (it was yesterday) 10/10 looks, acceptance to Harvard, dream body and natural fast metabolism, being a master shifter, list of hobbies and talents, dream personality, huge mansion, cute kind rich bf, and being a desired it girl

I want to say so much more but Moral of the story is stick to what has worked you, take accountability for your journey, and ignore what doesn’t resonate with you.

I think a lot of people will relate to this. No matter what you believe in, whether that be states, non dualism, the void, a+p,etc just persist on your faith. Congrats anon and good on you for taking accountability for your own journey. I also can only speak for myself but I forgive you :)

Hi, the recent doodle you made of Inej, Nina, and Jesper is so cute! My favorite part is the mismatched patterns on Jespers vest and pants as well as how they’re all happily stuffing their faces w food!

I don’t want to be mean but I hope it’s okay to express here that I was just a little disappointed seeing how Nina was depicted. Maybe it’s not coming across well cause of her arm positioning, but she seems pretty small ie; the straight down waist shape—at her smallest point she seems only slightly larger than Inej*—as well as the cloak giving the effect she’s larger in the hips. This comes off as the skinny waist/thick hip sillouette.

I’ve already deleted this ask twice, trying to convince myself it doesn’t matter (especially since it’s a doodle and not part of the actual comic) but it’s no secret the fandom has a habit of skinny washing Nina. I know you’ve read the books and look into every detail. I can see how much you care for this series and it’s characters with how much quality care you’ve taken to make it into the gorgeous comic it is.

As a plus size person, my only ask is to please not forget that Nina is a plus size character. Not mid size. She’s happily a plus size woman! And a lot of us plus sized people rely on her for inspiration. We see gif sets of her played by a skinny actress and see her drawn skinny all the time already.

*like i said her arm as well as Inej’s silhouette get in the way of us being able to see her completely and i was using my fingers to measure, so I apologize if you meant for her be larger. It still doesn’t really change that she comes across as thin while looking at it.

I’m sorry this is so long with so many run on sentences and I’m sorry for criticizing your gorgeous art. I still love it to pieces and am excited for new pages!

Thank you for saying this! I apologize for not portraying her accurately. It's always my intention to depict people in earnest, so I'm sorry I disappointed on that front. I'll be sure to be more conscientious the next time I draw her. And never apologize for offering constructive criticism. As someone aiming to be a professional artist, I'd rather be told how I can do my job better than never get any feedback. Sounds like a good time for more studies! Hi everynyan,

Some of you will remember that I was taking names/addresses to send out free stickers in September. I am almost done sending them out now, so here's a quick update on that.

The Good!

I like this a lot! It's fun to do. For reference, I'm printing, laminating, and cutting these myself at home, so I'm learning a lot about my machine. I like being in charge of the quality control, I like doing the logistic work. Idk. It's fulfilling to me.

It's also really delightful to see names on the list who I've known of for a long time. Old and new faces, people all over the world, I love seeing people adopt a catgirl. :3 And for free! I'm by no means making a lot, but being able to provide something fun and physical to the people who enjoy my art for free is just! Wow!

The Bad!

Everything that could have gone wrong during this process did, which is why they're going out so late. The at-home manufacturing process was relatively simple but the materials kept being funky, or I'd do something wrong, so I'd have to toss something that I'd completely fucked up, OR I'd just miscount how much stuff material I had left. It's been a pain in the butt, so I'm glad it's done and that I've learned so much from it. I ALMOST FORGOT, I DESTROYED ONE CUTTING MAT MAKING THAT ROGER STANDEE FOR MY WEDDING LOL SO I HAD TO SPEND TIME CONDITIONING THE NEW CUTTING MAT! UGH!

There's also: the money. I know it's gauche to talk about it, but doing this was pretty expensive. I live in Canada now, and most of the letters were going out of Canada, so that postage added up. Materials cost, time, it's a pretty good chunk of change, but I didn't go broke so I want to do it again.

The Other?

I definitely want (and plan) to do this again very soon. I'm talking within this month. I'm making Christmas cards! I've already set money aside for this so it's all good, and it involves less at-home manufacturing since I can just reach out to a local print shop.

I know some people were wary of the google form, but I can't really find a better alternative at this time. MailChimp has had at least one major information leak in 2024 alone, so I am not sure where else to turn for collecting addresses at this time. I had a few people who did not give me towns/zip codes, and the street address would have three or four towns in that state alone with that address. Since I didn't collect e-mail addresses, I didn't have any way to reach out to entrants about this. If you don't see your sticker in the next few weeks, this might be why! I also plan on adding a checkbox just to confirm that the person requesting the sticker is over 18, NOT because I plan on sending anything saucy, but I know what it's like to be a teen with parents who open you mail, an I don't want to cause problems for anyone because Mom and Dad think fairies are satanic or something.

Most people I've talked to about all of this have really emphasized that I need to reopen my Patreon. I'm not saying anybody is wrong on this, but it just makes me feel so uncomfortable. I think anyone who's followed me for a while has seen me try and fail to do art full time or, hell, even have a schedule for something, and I've failed every time. I'm so scared of failing people again. How can I ensure that I'm producing things on time, to a standard I am happy with, that anyone willing to support me (in this economy?) would also be happy with? It will probably happen, but I'm just so... Plus, with all honesty, I have a commission backlog that I need to finish first! I'm bad at the business part of this whole thing, I think. I'm a blue-collar labourer in my heart.

That Saturday, Megan and Iseul head to San Myshuno to complete an item from Megan’s bucket list, and spend a day in San Myshuno. They head to the Arts District first, and Iseul looks at Megan’s outfit. "Baby, you look like a sexy summer vampire." She says and Megan grins. "Thanks, Issy, it's kinda the look I was going for," she says, smoothing out her maxi dress and adjusting her hat. "Plus my I necklace completes the look." She says, running her fingers along the gold rectangular necklace with Iseul’s initial on it. Iseul’s eyes soften and she grins. "I love it. So, should we head in?" She asks, and Megan nods. 

They head inside the building and buy two tickets at the front desk. Iseul pays for them, and she takes Megan’s hand as they walk into the main downstairs gallery. It's a bit empty at the moment but they're planning to fill it up with some up-and-coming artists' work. "Look at this," Iseul says as they stop at a colorful blocky painting of the city. "I don't know much about art, but it's gorgeous and vibrant," Megan says. Iseul nods, and they both take in the artwork for a few minutes.

In her best Diego Lobo the art critic impression, issue says "Yes indeed, check out the crisp clean lines the artist used and the bright colors. Perhaps this is an insight into how they view the city through a certain lens." She says, pursing her lips in the way Diego does on his TV show and stroking her chin the same way he strokes his goatee while thinking. Megan snorts, "Precisely, Ms. Kang. Did you also happen to notice the layering of the blocks? I gather it represents the way things are so stacked on top of each other and the way people, businesses, and communities live side by side here." She says and Iseul nods. "That's pretty good, baby." She says, and Megan grins. "Hey, I took a few art history classes myself." She says, and Iseul smiles, leaning over to kiss her cheek before gifting her a bluebell.

HELP! GOOD OMENS FIC WRITERS <3

Hello, my fellow lovelies - I'm taking a shot out here in the tumblr scape since I don't know where else to look without getting lost.

Basically I would like to find some people willing to help beta some of my writting or some direction to a community or discord with fellow fic writers or even just enthusiasts in this fandom.

I've gotten mutual help from a friend of mine with my current projects - but they're very busy with life and their own projects, plus our writing style are very different and they're not someone who's seen the show or read the book.

It's great for getting a fresher and objective look - but for more stylistic writting choices and flairs I'd love to find a community who has the same level of Good Omens brain rot as I do who might understand my writting better more creatively?

If that makes sense.

Basically i have so manny ideas a projects and writting things that I want to bounce of someone who can pick up what I'm putting down but don't know where to look.

And shouting out concepts and ficlets into void can only get you so far.

Any thoughts on the new "Spooky" NC styles compared to the old nostalgic versions? I really like some of the new ones like the Gelert and Xweetok.

I will say off the bat that I'm not opposed at all to redrawing old colours to be more interesting; a lot of the ancient early 2000s art was literally just "the default pose with modifications". Take the original Halloween Aisha, for example; not only is the shading and overall art pretty poor, but it's also just sitting there generically smiling.

However, I will say that there's some weird classifications going on with these guys; to start, "spooky" is a pretty terrible adjective that describes absolutely nothing. It's also a bad choice because it has to be swapped out for each color (the redone Ghost styles are "eerie", for example). I've heard the term "dynamic" tossed around, which I think would've been a much better name choice that could've been universally applied to any colour.

Also confusing is that they classify any new styles for pets that were made post-conversion as "spooky", but when they made new styles for Grey pets they classified them as "nostalgic". I guess they were just going off of the poses, but still, it gets complicated fast.

And finally, I kind of wish they had released both nostalgic and spooky styles for some pets, because it feels like some of the old art changed drastically in ways that go far beyond just posing. I don't mind a few details being tweaked here and there, but some of feels like a drastic change to the pet's whole personality. For example:

Gelert: Entire personality changed (went from being more stoic and shifty to being cunty and more "bleh"). Tail has an extra segment. Hairstyle is completely different with no receding hairline. Detail around the clasp lost. Way more fluffy. Teeth and nails sharper. Cape lost the bat wing design.

Ixi: Entire face changed (eyes too big and too far up on the head, plus the eye shape is wrong), horns facing backwards instead of inwards, ear shaped changed, face and body more fluffy.

There's not inherently an answer to which design is better (I personally don't like the Gelert while Anon does, for example), but having more styles would satisfy both parties. Hopefully they'll add more in the future.

Favorite Styles:

(Good news: There were so many good ones I had trouble narrowing it down. Honorable mentions that were cut for space include the Xweetok and the Lutari.)

Poogle: The pose is not only really fitting for the pet, but it adds a ton of personality (compared to the original, which was just generically angry). A few subtle changes were made to the design, like the muzzle being light blue and the teeth being way bigger, but they're minor changes that shouldn't upset any fans of the original. The changes also feel very "pre-conversion" esq; like, you could've told me the spooky style was the pre-conversion art and I would've believed you.

Bori: Not necessarily the most exciting style, but I like this one a lot. The change to the crouching pose looks a lot more natural and invokes the Bori's more quadrupedal look pre-customization. The shading is spot-on for old Neopets' art, and I love how the design makes some subtle changes to the design that, like the Poogle, are minimal and shouldn't bother fans of the original—these include a longer, narrower skull and a different expression, more defined claws, less uniform back plates, and a less uniform tail shape.

Grarrl: Definitely my all-time fav from the Spooky styles. I just talked about this one for my Grarrl review so I won't repeat myself here, but the pose is more dynamic without being too over-the-top, the design reverts back several unnecessary changes that occurred during customization (the clasp was randomly made blue, for example), and the overall art quality is really solid, and there's not many changes outside of the addition of little claws. My only nitpick is that the eye shadow should've been bigger, but that's it.

Koi: Just the fact that it's actually holding the pitchfork is a major improvement, but I also really like the pose; it has a great flow to it and shows off the design well. Subtle touches like the transparent fins are really nice, and the design is really accurate to the original art save for a bigger pitchfork.

Least Favorite Style:

Kougra: Out of all the styles, I think this one is probably the one that's objectively different but in a way that's just kind of worse all around compared to the original. List of changes:

Pupil shape changed.

Eye color changed.

Ear shape changed.

Wings and ears drastically smaller than on the original.

Wing shaped changed at bottom.

And even if you don't care about any of that, the lineart's too thick, the shading doesn't have a clear light source and has too many layers, and the anatomy is really messed up. I like the idea of the pose in theory, but the execution is lacking. Plus, while the original pose wasn't that exiting, it did give off a nice stoic vibe, so it wasn't like it was overly "default-ish" in the first place.

in regards to the ‘toxic yaoi’ discourse …

it’s morally not good to ship jimmy/curly AT ALL. but it’s SUPPOSED to be immoral. it’s horrible, but it’s compelling. i personally believe it makes the story darker and really intensifies the psychological horror of it, whether that’s seeing how detrimental their relationship was to begin with or just acknowledging that both characters are not only unreliable narrators but also unreliable friends to each other.

i don’t participate in proshipping at all but i find jimmy/curly compelling because they are in a psychological horror setting and they’re also doomed to die. apparently there are some weird things going on,, like people being jimmy defenders or whatnot- but i don’t really see that at all? what’s bad is bad. good character building is good character building. jimmy is an egotistical monster, curly is pretty much a pacifistic bystander (until he is literally Forced to be) … and their individuality plus their own relationship is the thing that really makes the story more horrifying but in an enticing way (as a tragedy writer myself)

do i like that people are sexualizing them? no. and i can also say that with people objectifying curly and anya (‘for funsies’). it’s a video game at the end of the day, i suppose. what i do really like is the depressing angsty jimmy/curly art that people are posting and making that deliberately remind us how dark the story is and the kind of men these characters were. i’ll probably post more thoughts about this game as a whole bc there’s so much to talk about ehe

i check twitter every once in awhile and i don’t have the app becus i do not feel like brainrotting myself even more 😭 but for me it’s mostly becus it has some GOOD sonamy food (art). however, whenever i’m scrolling through i have to see the shit that the sonamy channel posts and my lord are they annoying. like jesus bro can’t handle people liking any other ship becus they aren’t canon, along with being based on biases apparently (which like…yeah mf that’s kinda the point…you just like what you wanna like???) also people say therye an incel too so that’s cute! and then non sonamy shippers will think we all agree with them and that is far from the truth. they are the epitome of needless discourse and feeling the need to defend something that is so minuscule and literally fictional constantly like you’re fighting for your life. and plus many of the posts that aren’t necessarily problematic are just a stretch sometimes. they’ll be like “omg do you think sonic and amy will have a super romantic scene in the third movie?!?1!1?1!” (this is not verbatim and i’m slightly exaggerating) and as a sonamy fan i can tell you that probably won’t be the case and what is the point in the extreme speculation if she isn’t even confirmed to be in the movie yet and we have like no fucking trailer at all yet. and i’m sad to admit i used to follow them on insta (where i didn’t know how much drama they got into becus there’s no threads and such) and i slowly had to realize how ridiculous their claims were over time and eventually unfollowed. like do they sometimes post decent moments and observations about sonamy? yes. but rather than in a wholesome “omg look at my cute ship” way, it’s like “omg sega did this right here so therefore my ship is canon and it’s the best and i hope they do this next pretty please”. i’m just. so done bro 💀 like i said this is why i don’t have twitter it’s actual bootycheeks on here. it goes even further than that and random people will start arguments in the sonic fandom every day such as which way sonic’s shoes are drawn is better or sonic prime vs mickey mouse clubhouse (credit to sonicbits on insta for keeping me updated without making me open the website, you a real one ong).
