This whole ordeal is finally coming to an end.
After a grueling 118 days, these are the tears of joy running down not only on Benjamin's face, but I'm sure on many other actors who have had been struggling during all these days.
Congratulations to everyone! 🎉🎉

I know tumblr is pro-union, so i think some of you might find it of interest: UCU (british university and collegu union) announced marking boycotts to start on the 20th of April - just in time for summer assesments and examinations. It was announced earlier this month, but yesterday (17 April) another round of negotiations failed, and the boycott is fully confirmed.
UCU has been striking for longer than I've been studying at uni, but the strikes have never escalated to this point - there were walk-outs, there was extended action short of a strike, but never marking boycotts. But the situation is horrifyingly bad, gets worse with each year, and our lecturers and uni staff deserve better. 145 institutions across the UK are striking - this is 70,000 union members.
It is more important now than ever to support the strikers. This was not an easy decision to make, and they would not have made it unless absolutely necessary. As one of the affected (international) students, I am worried about graduating - but I am worried about the condition of higher education more, and its impact on the well-being of my lectuers, the quality of research, and the equality and diversity in science.
I know there are many students at british unis here - please support your lecturers as much as you can, don't blame them for the inefficient HE system, and put pressure on your university to handle their shit better.
(PS. you can make official complaints if your studies have been affected by strikes via your university complaint procedure. this is in line with what strikers want, which is for universities to feel the distruption)
You can read more about the strikes on the UCU site here.
If you can, everyone, please consider donating to the UCU strike fund. If you can't - please consider writing to a university you have a connection with - the one you graduated, or your local uni, etc - to express your concern, or write to your MP to support the strike.

I’m so happy for them
[Image Description: Castiel from Supernatural is saying I love you, underneath is an image of Dean Winchester with the caption: “After four months of striking the WGA has a reached a tentative agreement & finalizing the contract. If all goes well writers will get to return to work with better pay and protections. They did it. Go unions”]

ironically i am working right now so i can’t do a full post on this like i would really prefer to do… but these are the most cartoonishly evil people that you could possibly imagine, even in a society as flawed as the one we’ve built for ourselves. these are bedrock groups devoted to protecting the american worker and consumer. massive huge giant waving red flags 🚩

just a friendly reminder that, just because slavery was formally "abolished" in the so-called united states* in 1865, enslavement itself is still ongoing in the form of incarceration, which disproportionately affects Black and Indigenous people

I fucking hate this "capitalism is when you make money, the more money you make, the more capitalism it is" mindset people have gotten. No, an artist selling their own work is not them engaging in capitalism, it's literally a worker owning their own means of production.
Remember capitalism is someone profiting off of someone else's labor though owning capital. It is not simply the act of profiting at all.
