Eldritch Jason and Fae Dick might get along
They totally would!
Dick would show off his collection of teeth and Jason would blink his countless eyes in bewilderment because— that’s a lot of teeth.
Admittedly, my version of the fae are very close to eldritch entities. Sort of like… cousins. Like, dogs and wolves. Both canines, but wolves have existed for far longer than dogs have 👁️
Other beings or entities is a good word to describe them I think ksksks ✨

You had a sick feeling ever since you came here. Your eyes scan the forest interior with a small reluctance. Some people reported in your emails of a potenially supernatural experience, and you were intrigued. Your mind was always captivated by the macabre and mysterious. You had a weird fascination ever since the playful stories of Bloody Mary and Charlie Charlie. You take a deep breath, inhaling the thick air of the forest as you sigh. You take a couple more steps in the woodlands, hearing the faint crushing sound of leaves and twigs under your shoes. You carry a small camera, just in case there were any spirits to capture. You pause as you hear a twig snap behind you -- whipping around only to see.. Nothing but a small squirrel scurry up a tree. You sigh in somewhat relief. You're admittedly a little nervous, anticipating any strange encounter that may lurk around the corners.
Though, you assume your thoughts to be your subconscious toying with you. You sigh and turn back around, walking deeper in the murky terrain. Undoubtedly this forest was pretty, but a subtle hint of unease settled inside. The fogged, moist atmosphere made things a bit blurry for you to see. The dark, lush flora meshed with the paranoid thoughts of someone lurking around. You are soon snapped into reality again as you see a strange sight. Your eyes widen in intrigue as you notice a weird page in the distance, hanging a few muddled feet from a rotting tree. You start to move by yourself, curiously wandering to the strange picture. It depicted a strange drawing with symbols you couldn't recognize, seemingly created with dirtied charcoal. You delicately take the page from the tree, carefully examining it. However, you accidentally smudge some of the charcoal. It left a black residue. Weird. This picture seemed to be fresh.
You collect the page as evidence, looking around to see if you can find anymore near. It was only then you hear another subtle sound of leaves crunching – making you dart to the general direction. This time, there was nothing there. Your heart starts to drop as you feel a sense of dread and paranoia. You quickly start walking in a different direction, only to see another page faintly in the distance. You felt as if eyes lingered over you, but maybe you were just being paranoid. Sometimes chills are a good thing, it means your doing something right at least. You could practically feel the paranormal air thicken as you go on to the other page. This one seemed much older in quality, only a big symbol in the middle with an eerie note; You feel a knot nervously bubble in your stomach as you read the scribbled writing. The phrase stated,
HE IS ALWAYS WATCHING
You pondered curiously. Whom might "he" be? You quickly collect yourself as you soon see something in the corner of your eye– a startling figure. You turn your head, only to find nothing there. This was strange. Not once did you ever feel such unsure paranoia. Irrational thoughts caved into your consciousness as you take the second page with a lump in your throat. Despite your paranoia and irrational behavior, you chalk it up to your nerves. Something that something in the distance was amused by. Amused, and out of sight, lies an ancient entity. He went by many names, by many legends. However, he coined "Slenderman" more infamously. He had been watching for a bit now, observing your odd behavior with a predatory gaze. As if a tiger stalking down its prey in a well forested area. Slender pleasantly toys with you, practically ogling your irrational reactions.
He had seen many mortals before; humans carelessly roughhousing his domain. He growled quietly at the thought of those leeches.. However, you were intriguing. You captivated him with the delicate ways you would handle your surroundings, how quick it was for you to shudder and shiver with nervousness. As much as he was known for his careless nature towards humans, you had certainly caught the wrong eyes. Meanwhile, you were still wandering in what felt like a conflicting trance. Both your mind and body telling you that you must go; flee… However you were lost in the mysteries and captivated by the pages. There was a sick feeling in your stomach; nausea kicks in as you feel a presence linger in the air. You spin around – your heart skipping a beat as you see a tall figure. You quickly start to flee, running as fast as you can as your adrenaline causing you to beeline to the opposite direction. What a lovely look for you to an eyes of a prowling creature.
The air becomes more thick and cold as you dart through trees, hoping to get it off your trail. Whatever it was it was not human, and it definitely seemed unfriendly. Slender catches to your pace as he patiently watches you crumble physically. You aren't too athletic or anything, but your body told you to keep going. You had scattered the pages behind you somehow during the irrational running, but you didn't look back. You kept going until you hit a rock, stumbling down a harsh steep hill. As you tunbled, you can feel the scrapes and gashes unwantedly scrape your body – only to fall a couple inches from a tree. You let out a whimper as you catch your breath, sitting upright only to be met with the being in question. You didn't want to admit it, but you were weirdly enraptured by the way he gazed at you. You were scared – no, terrified.. Though something about the way he stood so grand in front of you made you flushed. You take a shaky breath as the figure grew near.
" What might we have here… "
You gasped, surprised at the low voice that rang in your ears. You look on curiously as his voice teased. Slender looks down in a confused but curious glance as you shiver and tremble on the ground. You watch as his black, slender tendrils slide out of his back. You gulp nervously as you try moving back, only for Slender to swiftly smacks you to the tree. You yelp painfully as he pins you to the tree, your eyes betraying your focus as you watch Slender leans in closely.
" Wh– What do you want fr- from me?  "
You croak out as Slender's skeletal hands ghost around your abdomen. Even without eyes, Slender was observant to your fear. He drank the look of terror from your face, the bloodied gash along your cheek made his grip tighter on you. It wasn't long until you watch as Slender's facial skin moves. You gasp, horrified as you watch Slender's skin tear and crack. It showed Slender's mouth, sharp teeth and a long black tongue with ripped pale skin.
" I want you to be a good meal for me. "
" W- wait !! "
You shriek and squirm as he moves down to your neck, feeling his mouth open wide. A different tendril floods your mouth, unexpectedly choking you. You squeezed your eyes shut, expecting the ethereal being to take a good chomp of you… But he doesn't. Instead, you feel the slimy, wet sensations as his tongue laps at your neck. You gag on his tendril, letting out a small moan as the stinging feeling of your wounds is lapped up by his sickly black tongue. He pulls away for a moment, taking in the delicious iron taste in his mouth of your open wounds. He stalks your body in a way that feels possessive, territorial. You feel yourself trickle another moan on the soft tendril as the man lifted your shirt, cold air hitting you as he wanders. You were unsure of this, at least with the delirious and disoriented state you were in.
The tendril in your mouth soon pops out with a slick pop – allowing you to gasp. You dont dare to utter any words though, trembling as you watch Slender tenderly lick your abdomen. You let out a moan as he licks up, trailing to your chest. You try to squirm away, but he has you firm to the tree. He sighs abruptly, his warm breath causing you to whimper out. It was only then you gasped, feeling something slick paw at your crotch. You attempt to wiggle out again as your breath hitches, looking at Slender with worry –
" Wait – Wait please I don't know if I can – "
You beg and plead through breathy moans and shaky replies, Slender growling in a guttural tone. He creepily smiles as he watches tears prick your eyes, licking his lips. You couldn't help but feel yourself throb as you see your own blood plastered sickly on his "lips". He soon claws away your dirtied shirt with a swift rip, causing you to land your head back to the tree in a shiver. The mix of unpleasant cold and dirty pleasure had you reeling. For what it is though, you didn't expect such a beast to be almost gentle with you – and you have backtracked that statement as he rips your pants away. You shriek out with a gasp, your face flushing redder as you look away from Slender. The tendriled being laughs coldly, his tentacle palming at your throbbing erection.
" You really are a sick meal, are you? Such a mortal like yourself would keep struggling– but your different. "
He hisses with a predatory gaze. The degrading made you whimper, only before crying out as he bites your tender flesh on your shoulder. You yell in a weird mix of pain and pleasure, the sweet twinge of agony as he laps up more of your blood. You feel the man's tendril pull down your boxers, leaving you bare naked. Your cock springs out shamefully, precum laced at the tip. Slender giggles in almost amusement. His big hands trailing down your tendered waist. You lay your head in embarrassment, weakly kicking your legs in protest. Slender's tendril swirls around your dick, tracing the peculiar veins that popped out. You shamefully groan, letting your head fall back more as you marched. Slender hisses in delight.
" Wow, so shameful to moan for such a monster. What do you think others would think seeing you like this, hm? "
Slender taunted, grunting as he unzips his pants. What came next was something indescribable; almost unbelievable. Your eyes widen at Slender's huge penis. It wasn't like any other humans though– it was a thick, black tendril with a slick feel. As his other tendril leaves your cock, he let's his penis slide against yours. You both let out a moan, one more surprised than the other. He was several inches bigger than you, and you were average to say the least. You shiver out a moan as he bucked his hips into yours, the slimy texture of his dick lubricating yours. You moan again before letting out a breathy gasp as Slender's hands raise your legs. You were folded between the being and a tree, tears spilling out of your muddy face as you watch helplessly. Your eyes widen at such a suggestion, shaking your head.
" N- no way! That's not going to fit in me! "
You cry out, watching as he examines your cute little hole. It was already laced with some of your own precum, watching as you clench to nothing was both arousing and amusing to the man. He looks at the mess he made, aiming his slick dick to your hole. You begged more, pleaded even. He teased your ass with the tip of his cock, swirling around your entrance. You moan at the unusual feeling, panting slightly as your dick twitched between you two. Slender leans to your bloodied, bitten shoulder to lick the gashes he marked onto you. You hiss in pain, wincing at the twinges of pleasure it brought you. Your stomach knotted up as it pulled more heat, becoming almost unbearable. Slender noticed this, even as your cock twitched. You both knew what was coming as he laughed darkly.
" Already coming, are we? Such a shame. It hasn't even got to the fun parts yet.. "
Fun parts? You shiver from what he staged. You were already becoming undone, and he still had more plans? Your thoughts are soon interrupted by a harsh force and a painful twinge. Slender had finally slipped his dick into you, bottoming in one strong move. You leans your head forward, biting into the man's clothes shoulder with a scream. The mixed pain and pleasure had got you to spill out – coming onto your abdomen and chest as you heaved and moaned in the being's shoulder. He grunts at the twinge of pain, his dick slick as he moves inside of you. He grunts as he pulls halfway out before plunging back into you. You arch your back as you moaned out, feeling Slender set a ridiculous pace. His quiet but guttural moans rang in your ears as he rips inside of you. It was only then you had completely lost yourself when you felt him curl into your prostate. You whimper and moan out shamelessly as you put your hands on Slender's shoulders to stable yourself.
" Mm - More! God, more sir– "
Your meek voice sent Slender into a predatory growl, slamming into your prostate as he draws more of your noises out. You could only feel a flood of pain from the ache of the tree scraping your back, your bitten shoulder, and some other injurgies. However, pleasure flushed your body as you come for a second time. Your cum lands on his suit as he slams into your ass. You let out more "sirs" and "pleases" in the air.
" Awwh you – Haah – foolish being.. Such a slut you became, darling."
The petname and moans he let's out sends you overboard. You feel twinges of overstimulation kick in as you lay almost limp in the being's grasp. He lays his head to the tree holding you, letting out more moans as his hips sputter into you.
" Please – no more!-- haah– cant– "
" Yes you can. You will take what I give you– "
Slender interrupts your pleas as he grips the soft flesh of your thighs, sinking his teeth back into your shoulder as he spurs on one more time. You cry out with a yelp, feeling the twitch inside you before you felt him cover your insides with his sticky ropes. You both pant in silence, only hearing your breath as be pulls out of you. Slender moans slightly as he watches his seed spill out of your hole, the mixed of sweat and other bodily fluids clung to you as you pant. You feel exhausted as your body comes down from your high, blinking slowly as you look up at Slender. He looks down as he let's go of you, letting you gently fall to the bottom of the tree. He marvels at his creation, and you look up at him like he was an angel from hell. He was pretty terrifying, but he also looked so hot as he watches the mess he created.
You were drenched in fluids, and naked. The blood from your shoulder had trickled it's way down to your soft chest. Your nipples perked up from the neglected attention it had. You had mud and gashes that covered you a in spots. You had Slender's seed spill out of you as your cock softened. You were filthy, disgusting, and a mess. Slender gawks at you with a smirk, leaning down towards you. You look at him with half lidded eyes, shakily breathing as you lay limp against the tree. You shiver and tremble with the cold wind as he lays his eyes on you. It wasn't long after he took in such a sight he grabbed you, picking you up with his arms. You don't have any strength to protest, whimpering as he looks at you. Something was definitely different however.. His gaze was softer, and his hold on you was different. Instead of the hard, possessive grip he had, it was replaced with a gentle but firm squeeze.
" You're mine now. You will be mine for as long as you live. Do you understand me? "
You give a weak nod before your eyes start rolling in the back of your head. You pass out right then and there. Your consciousness leaving your body as you lay limp, blissfully ignorant to what you had just endured.
-
You then wake up in your house. You were clothed and covered in the warmth of a blanket. You would be lying if you thought it was all just a dream until you felt it hit. The ache of your body made you grunt as you turn. You noticed something on your nightstand however. It was your camera and a crinkled note. Just like the papers in the forest. You look to see it's one of the ones you had picked up; ALWAYS WATCHING lingering in your head with not fear – but a longing. You sit the page down as you flop back onto your bed, sighing as you plop your face in the soft pillows below. You then drift back off to unconsciousness, the last thing you see is a figure at the corner of your eye as you peacefully pass out.

The Native Peoples of North America (also known as American Indians, Native Americans, Indigenous Americans, and First Americans) are the original inhabitants of North America believed to have migrated into the region between 40,000-14,000 years ago, developing into separate nations with distinct and sophisticated cultures. These autonomous nations spread from Alaska, through Canada, and the lower United States. The earliest periods of migration, settlement, and development are defined by archaeological evidence (spearheads, tools, monumental structures) from sites throughout North America and are most often referred to by the following terms: Paleoindian-Clovis Culture – c. 40,000 to c. 14,000 BCE Dalton-Folsom Culture – c. 8500-7900 BCE Archaic Period – c. 8000-1000 BCE Woodland Period – c. 500 BCE to c. 1100 CE Mississippian Culture – c. 1100-1540 CE During the Archaic Period, some Native populations moved from a hunter-gatherer paradigm to a more sedentary social model as evidenced by sites such as Watson Brake (c. 3500 BCE), Poverty Point (c. 1700-1100 BCE), and others of varying size, developed throughout the region during the Woodland and Mississippian Culture eras. The cultures that developed in and around these sites were distinct from one another but shared a worldview that included belief in a higher power and disembodied spirits, the value of community over individual needs, reciprocity in interaction with the environment and each other, the importance of ritual and tradition, the practice of warfare and slavery, and conservation of resources. Women were highly respected in the communities and frequently served as leaders or advisers in government. These separate communities developed into what are sometimes called 'tribes' (but more often referred to now as 'nations') at some point prior to c. 980 to c. 1030 CE when the first European settlement was established in North America by Leif Erikson at L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland. By the time of the beginning of European colonization of the Americas in the 15th century CE, they were highly developed political and social entities associated with a specific region and a certain territory within that region. Although European expansion across Canada and the United States eventually deprived the indigenous peoples of their ancient lands, the nations still exist today and the image of the 'vanished Indian' is as much of a myth as the 'noble savage' or similar tropes developed by European and American scholars during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ
You definitely remember planting your tulips just yesterday. At first it was your cabbages growing large just after a few days of planting, then the tomatoes and now the tulips. The colorful bulbs sway in the breeze, the fragrant flowery smell relaxes your bones. Yet you can't help but feel creeped out by the weird phenomena.
You just moved in recently to a quaint town that's settled right on the edge of a dense woodland area. You've heard of the stories when a human has captured a fae’s attention, and it looks like this is the case for you. All the stories don't always end well for the former. But if the extremely fast growth of your garden says anything, it's that this particular fae means well. Hopefully.
So as a thank you to the kind entity, you place a bowl of milk and honey right under where your tulips are planted. You've even left a plate of salad all made from the crops you've lovingly planted and bloomed after just a few days of planting. You think for a second that maybe the soil under your feet is healthy and bountiful but there's no harm done if there isn't any mythical creature helping you. The worst case is a raccoon eating your offerings.
Bewildered is an understatement, your eyes are the size of dinner plates once you see something shimmering on the ground. Whatever you did, the fae seems to like it. They left a crown of daisies on your doorstep the next morning, the petals are all adorned with flecks of gold. The flowers run like silk under your fingers.
You look past your garden to the woods, the fog swirls around the edge. In your vision you see the mist form and shape into a tall slim figure. Your hand tightens around the crown of flowers, hands shaking in disbelief.
You didn't go out that day.
More gifts appear outside your home, tiny trinkets woven carefully to create something beautiful. A bouquet of flowers on your windowsill, a figurine of a spider made from vines that's left hanging by the large oak in your backyard. They all appear outside your house so there's no cause for actual fear. If only you stop feeling eyes on you whenever you go outside.
A friend from the city visited you one day, telling you how much they've missed you, gushing on how much you've missed while away. They ask if you ever feel lonely out in the outskirts of the country you could always come visit them.
The same eyes you feel outside can be felt in your bedroom that night.
Whatever latched on to you seems benevolent, watchful, yes but not evil or controlling. You've gotten used to the presence after a few months of living at your cottage. You've even started talking to them during the day when you have no one to turn to. You tell them stories of your almost forgotten childhood and your old life where the houses are made of glass and grey stone, where they stood high above, almost touching the heavens. They've never responded, always listening and ever present.
He wants to respond though, tell you tales of old, where the flowers used to sing and dance, where the woods reigned supreme above all. He misses them, yes, but he misses your voice more. Is it possible to miss your touch too even though he's only imagined it before? Perhaps your hands feel like the finest silk spun upon his skin, your fingers weaving through his like a glittering river, waking him up from his centuries of stagnant waters.
He's seen you laugh and cry, and tend to your garden like it’s your own children. He wants nothing more but to join you in harvesting your bounty, to converse with you and listen to you mumble about your day. Gradually he appears behind you when your back is turned, watching as you make your dinner, observing you plant something new. Then in a flash, he vanishes when you turn around. Leaving you feeling empty
You enter the gates of your garden with tears in your eyes, words barely coherent by your sobs. Kneeling in front of your tulips, you grasp the grass underneath, pulling and ripping out the blades. A sudden hand circles around your wrist, warmth enveloping you in a crashing wave.
He appears just behind the tulips, your eyes soften when your vision focuses on his handsome and otherworldly face. He doesn't know what's gotten you upset but what he does know is that it'll be alright for now on. Because he's—
“Here, ‘m here” His voice calms you down like a thick blanket in the winter.
Without hesitation, you embrace him, the smell of sandalwood and flowers almost stops your heart. You grip him tight, his strong arms envelope you securely, his face nuzzled right between the space over your neck. You do the same, already feeling at home on his skin.
“You're here. You’re real, aren't you?”
“As real as you” he leans back to look at your tear stained cheeks, wiping it with his thumbs. “And here to stay if you want me to”
“Please” you lean on his touch.
He nods, placing a weighted kiss on your forehead. Suddenly you know his name. You call it sweetly amidst the tears, it feels welcome on your tongue.
For the first time in years, Hobie smiles and chuckles, kissing you atop your eyelids with a promise to never leave your side.

Deck Review: Under the Oak Tarot by Ofride and StregaDelleMele
Tumblr media
This is a borderless deck featuring a sometimes-sightless girl named Anima as she traverses a fantastical otherworld.
Physical Concerns
Overall: 10/10, so far very satisfied (especially for the price), would buy again if I lost it
RWS Clone? No, but RWS symbolism is obvious in a handful of cards, notably the High Priestess and many Major Arcana cards. Other cards are completely unique.
Cost: 10/10 for quality. As of this review, $26 without shipping
Card stock: 10/10, the card stock has a nice texture and feel sturdy. But it isn't the super thick stock that's stiff and difficult to bend. It doesn't feel cheap and it's nice to shuffle. Also, gilded edges, which we love. It's a standard size deck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Box: The box is nice and relatively sturdy. It's not a huge box (like we see with Woodland Tarot or Animal Totem Tarot) which I like, because my storage isn't unlimited. The box has an unattached lid and you can dump the cards out for easy access. The LWB fits in the box. Sometimes I struggle with hand pain and it feels like an easy access box.
Little White Book (LWB): It's a 128 page book with translations for English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. It includes meanings for each card, and three spreads with very little explanation. More about LWB meanings and card interpretations below.
Deck Theme and Symbolism
Per the introduction in the LWB, this deck follows the journey of Anima, a visually impaired child who travels through a fantastical otherworld and learns to develop a second sight.
While many of the cards that feature Anima show her being blindfolded, the deck clearly uses sightedness as a metaphor for spiritual enlightenment or "second sight." All of the 10s cards and The World XX show Anima as seeing clearly without her blindfold, and some other cards show partial sightedness as well.
Beyond that, this is an eclectic deck, no two ways about it. This is primarily present in the court cards and some of the Major Arcana cards.
The Pentacles cards feature Basque mythology; Wands are Welsh and Celtic, Swords are Norse, and Cups are Greek. There's also Hebrew symbolism (notably the High Priestess II), and probably other stuff I haven't picked up on because I'm not the most well versed in mythology.
A lot of the cards feature mythical beings, but there are also statues and woodland creatures.
Tumblr media
Sorry for photo quality, I don't have a great camera.
I think the symbolism is nice. Sometimes the cards are more heavily re-imagined (like the Star XVII and Moon XVIII), while some of them are more or less exactly what you'd expect from RWS symbolism (Devil XV).
The Minor Arcana takes more symbolism liberties, and some of the cards are very different from RWS.
Tumblr media
Overall, I really enjoy how it reads. I love a good borderless card, and this deck is A) fun and B) really pretty to look at. It's got enough familiar symbolism to ground me, but a lot of the cards are very different and with enough wiggle room to explore my own interpretations.
Tumblr media
Card Interpretations
The LWB interpretations are all about a spiritual journey, healing, and transformation. So if you're looking for a spiritual journey deck, this one might be for you.
At the same time, there's enough going on with the cards that I didn't find it to be difficult to link the meanings to a wide variety of topics.
The one thing I've got no idea about is the runes, which feature heavily in the Swords suit (which is also the suit where all the court cards are Norse entities). I don't know if the runes are thematically relevant to the card at hand or not. Hopefully they are, because I can imagine how irritating that would be if you read runes and it doesn't match.
Tumblr media
Here are a few Minor Arcana honorable mentions. Note the familiar symbolism of the 6 of Pentacles (bottom row, second from left), but the unique symbolism of the 5 of Swords (bottom row, far right).
Overall I found the cards to be evocative and easy to connect to, with enough symbolism in each image to facilitate intuitive reading.

Suddenly came up with two "Special Case Phemomena" related to Home Safety Hotline!
-Hobb Mothers/Sires
Tumblr media
-On rare occassions, a Boggart may find an individual suitable to copulate with in order to produce well-suited Hobb offspring. Though this unity is near impossible, the few reported incidents known to the Fae have been similar in the following aspects:
-the Mother/Sire is usually Fae. Human only in near-impossible scenarios that involve the human demonstrating extreme kindness and care to Hobb kind. As many Fae have a natural bond with the supernatural by birth, it is assumed this is why Fae are more likely to be chosen.
-The Mother/Sire has positive relations with other supernatural entities such as Gnomes, Sprites, and Spriggans. Overall a respectful and careful individual. If one shows kindness to various entities, this further proves their care for Hobbs.
-The Mother/Sire is able to withstand the power and strength that is a Boggart, surviving the process of fornicating. Not much has ever been willingly stated by the Boggart's partner as to how the coupling works, its secrecy important.
Sprigflunkey:
Tumblr media
-Individuals that disrespect the territory and boundaries of a spriggan may become parasitized by Sprig Vines and, instead of succumbing to their death by a Sprig Tree, deform into a Sprigflunkey instead. There are a couple of factors that lead to the likelihood of becoming Sprigflunkey, such as:
-Excessive abuse towards wildlife. Those who take part in violence and slaughter of woodland animals, especially those that waste much, are, in the eyes of a Spriggan, fitting to serve their dues.
-Blatant mistreatment and damage of flora. Stripping bark from trees, chopping down trees and bushes that sustain wildlife, ripping apart flowers, and releasing invasive species of any kind invoke much anger from Spriggans.
-Disrespecting the Spriggan directly when the opportunity arises. Sometimes, more straightforward Spriggans may appear in front of certain individuals. This is considered a hard-earned gift, or even a blessing, by the Fae. Though if the target (usually human) attempts combat or stands up as an equal or superior to the Spriggan, this rudeness shows as a perfect sign that the fool deserves a lifetime of enslavement and servitude.
-If a Spriggan has made itself known to you, through your ignorance or as a gift, make sure to respect it as you would any benevolent diety. Bow to it, and/or state your apologies or gratitude. Planting seeds, feeding wildlife, or caring for flora and fauna in other manners, further improve your chances of staying alive and sentient.

Ferns - The Mundane and Magical 101
Tumblr media
Working with my local land more has taught me to source local plants and connect with them. By properly taking care of it and working the land. That also means connecting with local plant spirits.
The Fern is one of those species of plants. This wonderful herb is abundant, protective and hold much wisdom for they are very old. With some dating back to 360 million years (or so they say). It is known some species can live up to a hundred years.
They are full of wisdom, you might just learn something from them if you actively work with them as a spirit.
Scientific Name:
Family: Pteridophyte
Parts used: For species of Fern it varies
Planet: Mercury
Element: Air
CAUTIONS: ALWAYS check with your local herbalist and doctor before consuming any medicinal medicine as they will be able to direct you on proper dosages. Some medications can also interact and so can some conditions with certain herbs.
IMPORTANT: Some Ferns are harmful (like the Pteridium genus aka Bracken Fern) to the airways and can let off spores that can harm or cause death in immunocompromised people. Always be wary of Fern species around pets as well. Source and research responsibly.
Uses in Herbalism and Healing:
Certain Fern species are used to treat different ailments. Ex. Sensitive Fern (Onoclea sensibilis) used for arthritis while Maidenhair Speenwort (Asplenium tricomanes) is used for coughs.
Always check which fern species is used as some can counteract and aren't always used for the same ailment.
On a fun note, Fiddlehead Ferns are used from a culinary standpoint and are quite delicious when prepared correctly.
Uses in Magic:
When placed in the home, it is said to hold protective properties, and when planted at the doorstep.
Dried Fern, when burned, carries exorcism properties.
Some folklore speaks that when Fern is burned outside, it causes rainfall.
When carried or worn, Fern has the power to guide to treasure.
Some Celtic and Irish legends speak of Ferns being used in from healing to magic.
A Slavic folk tale speaks of a flower on a fern that blooms for a very short time on the eve of the summer solstice. It is said it brings fortune to the person who finds it. In some tales, it allows humans to understand animals talking. It is guarded by malevolent entities. Though the one who succeeds in gathering it can receive earthly riches, that attainment has always brought unlucky energy to the poor soul, so some leave it alone.
Recipes:
A very yummy recipe using Fiddlehead ferns. Check it out!

A Dark Redemption // [Part II]
Prompt | "Mountain being found by Ivy in the woods, not summoned"
Word count | 1781
⚠️ Warnings | Mountain is kind of a spooky bitch at first, very possible OOC Ivy, story has a bit of a horror vibe.
Plot Summary: Livestock have been going missing from the back pasture, Siblings have been telling stories of a 'demon' in the woods. Terzo sends Ivy to investigate, only for the ghoul to find the woodland creature and give him a chance at redemption.
A/N: Sorry this part is a bit long! 🖤 xo Emery

Tumblr media Tumblr media
The night was clear. The stars shone brightly as they decorated the sky, like freckles over the earth. Ivy looked up to appreciate the sight as he stepped outside, shutting his eyes as the warm summer breeze tickled past his pointed ears. He leisurely strolled towards the forest that lined the property line of the Ministry, not at all afraid of what he could - or would - find lurking in it.
When he stepped through the treeline marking the edge of the woods, Ivy switched to a more ghoulish appearance. Not only to ward off any unwanted trespassers, but also because it made his abilities much easier to use. His enhanced eyesight making quick work of the dark, his ears picking up the faintest sound of bugs crawling upon leaves on the ground, his nose searching for anything out of the ordinary, but ultimately finding nothing.
Ivy continued his search through every acre of land. Inspecting every tree, checking inside logs, and exploring the burrows left behind from Earth - who used to make them when he got overwhelmed. He was determined to find the sheep thief.
Reaching the black lake, Ivy decided to stop and take a breath. He emerged from the treeline and walked over the stones surrounding the water. He sat on a rock close to the water's edge, studying the mist rolling over the top as the morning hours approached. Ivy didn’t want to head back to the Abbey with nothing, so he prayed for guidance. To find a simple lead or a clue - something, before the sun arose to begin another day of fear. The ghouls hated seeing the Siblings afraid, Ivy more than most.
The ghoul huffed in frustration, and stood to finish his search. However, when he turned towards the woods once again, he heard crackling in the trees. The Sister who was attacked? She was right, these woods did have eyes...
and they were staring right at him.
Glowing orbs of green met dark amber as the two entities studied one another. Ivy tried to look intimidating, but not aggressive. He didn’t quite know what he was dealing with yet. The ghoul couldn’t make out any of the creature's distinguishable features. It didn’t look to be all that large upon first glance, the dark being’s narrow eyes resting only a few feet above the forest floor.
“Hello.” The ghoul said tenderly. “I can see you.”
The creature snorted and shifted, leaves and twigs crunching as it slowly paced the perimeter of the brush.
“I’m no one to fear. Can you understand me?” Ivy said, never once removing his gaze from the swirling green looking back at him. The wind picked up and a warm breeze caressed his face, blowing the creature's scent right to him.
“You’re–” Ivy’s dark eyes widened, and he sniffed the air once again. “uǫ ɒꙅꙅɘm ɒꞁᎸꙅɒ?” You’re a ghoul?
The opposing eyes mirrored the look of surprise before ducking behind a large tree, clearly startled. A series of confused snorts and grunts could be heard as the creature processed the new information. It sniffed the air as it crawled closer to the edge of the woods, now curious of the ghoul.
Its chest rumbled like thunder, echoing off the trees as it sized up Ivy. This new ghoul didn’t speak using words, but through guttural sounds and demonic chitters.
‘Why can I understand you?’
“It’s going to be ok. I know you can’t understand when I speak in this tongue, but I’m here to help.”
Ivy spoke calmly and took a step towards the strange ghoul. Reaching out a friendly hand, the sudden movement startled the creature and it ran further into the forest, faintly touched by the glow of the morning sun.
Ivy decided that was enough for one day, he would return to the Abbey and come back tonight. Not wanting to scare the poor ghoul more than he already had. This was the breakthrough he needed.
Returning to the Abbey, Ivy wished the Siblings a ‘Good Morning’ as he passed on his way to the den. Wanting to avoid Papa, he naturally ran into Terzo just before the door of the den.
“Dark morning, Papa.” Ivy said with a smile, trying not to sound suspicious.
“Ivy, good morning,” he said, tiredly. “I heard you went out to the forest last night, did you find anything?”
Ivy twiddled his toes and clasped his hands in front of him, never being overly good at lying. Especially to Terzo. “Uh, not yet. Actually, I’m going to head back tonight to… to finish looking! Yup.”
Terzo raised a brow quizzically, but he was too tired after staying awake all night to notice the ghoul’s dubious tone. “Okay, keep up the good work.”
Ivy nodded and waved, waiting until Terzo disappeared around the corner before rushing inside the den. He quickly shut the door and leaned back against it, taking a couple deep breaths.
What am I going to do? It killed Missy, Papa wants him dead!
Ivy squeezed his eyes shut and threw the back of his head against the door, trying to figure out what to do next. He couldn’t just leave the poor ghoul out there!
Aether, the pack’s resident morning person, took in the sight of a very distressed Ivy as he walked past.
“You ok? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” The large Quint teased.
“Yeah, I just… need some sleep, I think.”
Surely a fresh set of eyes and a rested brain would help. So, that’s exactly what he did.
That night, Ivy informed Terzo that he was once again making the journey into the forest. However, this time he knew where to look.
It didn’t take long for the Earth ghoul to find the devilish being. Ivy came to a halt once he reached a familiar clearing in the dense thicket. It wasn’t a large area, but he knew a lot of the Siblings liked to picnic here. Even Terzo and Omega would find themselves enjoying the area from time to time, laying and star gazing through the opening in the trees.
Ivy walked to the centre, listening for his new friend and waiting for him to appear. It didn’t take long before the ghoul could sense he was no longer alone.
“I told you I would come back.”
Those green eyes materialized between the trees once again, standing closer to the edge than the previous night. Once again the creature spoke in hellish chitters as it stared.
‘You aren’t afraid?’
“No. Of course not,” Ivy spoke softly, using the devilish language they both could understand. “We are the same.”
‘We are not the same.’ The creature’s chest thundered aggressively as the trees shook, branches swaying in the aftermath.
Ivy’s eyes softened. He would never be able to completely understand how scary and confusing this must be for the new ghoul. Someone had clearly summoned him by accident and left him to fend for himself. All he knew was the ways of Hell - the ways of pure survival.
As the creature paced around the edge, Ivy noticed the ghoul’s horns as it momentarily passed through a ray of moonlight.
“You’re an Earth ghoul.” He stated.
‘I am. As are you.’
“Could you come out into the open so I can address you properly? No offence, but I’m starting to get dizzy with you pacing like that.”
‘As you wish’
The demonic creature emerged into the clearing, dimly lit by the light of the moon. Ivy wasn’t sure he had ever seen a ghoul like this before. The hellish entity took 2 mighty steps towards the smaller ghoul and Ivy wondered if he had made a mistake by coming alone.
Since the new Earth ghoul hadn’t been taught how to glamour his appearance, in front of Ivy stood the largest ghoul he had ever seen.
He was almost as tall as the trees that surrounded them. His skin was a dark brown with muscles like strong vines as they draped around his body. The many branches sticking out from along his back helped to sell his forest camouflage perfectly. The ghoul’s horns were like giant antlers; at least 2 feet long, they extended from what could only be described as a mask of bark which covered his entire head and face. It came to a point like a beak, expertly hiding rows of viciously pointed teeth. The ghoul had typical long claws which extended from his fingers, however they looked as though the tips had been previously singed. His large feet were similar to the roots of trees, strong and stable as he stood in the clearing.
Ivy could do nothing but stare as the unglamoured ghoul revealed his true form. He knew this one would give Alpha or Omega a run for their money if they ever met, but Ivy never felt afraid. The ghoul looked like a complete eldritch horror, with Ivy only measuring up to the size of its leg. Yet, the smaller ghoul could see kindness in its eyes, which peeked through the slits in his tree-like mask.
The giant knelt before him as Ivy tilted his head. The demon mirrored before sending vines to wrap around the little Earth ghoul’s neck.
‘You are not afraid?’ It said as the vines squeezed tighter. A hint of humour could be found in his delivery, like he was perhaps playing with his next meal.
“No.” Ivy said warmly, not a hint of fear to be found. Though he realized this must've been how that one Sister got her bruises. The ghoul used vines to drag and strangle its prey like a snake. “But I did just notice the bit of brown swirling in the green of your eyes. It’s very pretty.”
The giant ghoul’s expression quickly turned to shock, as though he was violently snapped out of the darkness that possessed him. He managed his version of a smile behind his mask and released the vines, retracting them into his skin.
“I’ll meet you here every night.” Ivy promised as he looked up at his new friend. “I’ll help you not get killed, and I can give you purpose.”
‘Then here I will wait’
Ivy placed a hand on the ghoul’s knee, between the two large branches that shot into the air. “Do you have a name?”
The large Earth ghoul happily made a series of demonic chitters.
“That's very fitting. I don’t think the humans can pronounce that though.” Ivy pondered. “What about… Mountain? ‘Cause you’re large and pretty like a Mountain.”
‘I like that.'
"Then, Mountain. I will see you tomorrow and we can begin your lessons.”

✨Who did it?✨
Or, as an alternate title:
I can’t believe I have to play Devil’s Advocate for Ozzy…
Yes, your honor, he did haunt Elise until she passed away, ruined Roman’s life as collateral, sort of kidnapped Henri and almost murdered Goldia. I can’t deny that he is, in fact, the main villain in Pocket Mirror and sole responsible for the events in that game.
Tumblr media
However!
In Little Goody Two Shoes, he isn’t the only schemer behind the scenes. Our second player is Walpurga — and I don’t think we’re giving her enough credit. It’s easy to misjudge her as a secondary threat in Elise’s path when, actually, she’s the main instigator.
I dare to say that she’s even the one to start it all, the one who led Elise to her eventual downfall! Ozzy just took the merit after she was out of the picture.
But before I go through the events of the game, let’s review what some characters have to say, in special when it comes to the lore. We’re going to be judging…
Tumblr media
… their credibility.
Our dear Rozenmarine here is talking about Ozzy by the way, and we have already established that he is, in no shape or form, a benevolent entity. Nonetheless, she’s the most truthful character towards Elise: she even warns her of the heavy price she’ll have to pay for her wish. Not even Walpurga, who is the first one to mention all of this information, alludes to such a thing; in fact, she even outright lies about it when she says that the Gifts will be “all that’s requested in return”.
The other character that gives the most exposition is Father Hans, and like Rozenmarine and Walpurga before him, we have to take his words and judgement with a grain of salt — in special when it comes to Walpurga and her sanctification.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Case in point: if a witch is a human woman and Walpurga is the consciousness of the woodland surrounding Kieferberg, can we truly call Walpurga a witch? Or is a human woman a forest now?
Despite the flaws in his logic, Father Hans doesn’t question much the nature of what he’s trying to summon and when he does, briefly worrying about the possibility of Walpurga being a demonic entity masquerading as a witch, he foolishly believes he’ll be able to take care of it. If you’re aware of one of the endings, you know how well that went.
His judgement, therefore, cannot be trusted.
On one hand, the demons themselves refer to Walpurga as a witch as well — and it’s likely they know more about this than our two faced priest. On the other, they also don’t hide their contempt by calling her creature and wretched thing, so it’s just as probable they’re insulting her and refusing to respect her as a fellow “patron saint”.
Meanwhile, in one bad ending, Rozenmarine is way more respectful and names her “old god”…
Either way, my previous statement about Father Hans still stands. However, does that make the demons a more trustworthy source of information? Several characters —mostly Golden Maidens and Walpurga, who has ulterior motives— disuade Elise from listening to them, and to tell the truth, they don’t reveal much about themselves or their reasons to not raise suspicion. In a twist of irony though, they do reveal the deceit of others more than being deceitful themselves: it’s Murim who points out Walpurga disguising herself as Rozenmarine and being the actual culprit behind the horses and Apfel’s disappearance, after all. And it’s also Ozzy who lets Elise know that Walpurga had been misleading her from the very start — although far too late, at the very end: “You’re yet to pay for what you truly desire! That witch made you think otherwise, did she?”
In conclusion, we can’t take what they say at face value — or at least, not all of it. Still, they do offer important insight into the lore if you know who and what to believe.
An interesting bit I want to highlight and that gives a different interpretation of the game is related to Walpurga’s true identity: if she isn’t a witch, but a being similar to Ozzy and his Marquises, her inactivity during the 18 years Elise was alive could be linked to the need of a witch of her own, since they act as a sort of medium between realms.
Although that raises the question: who could be Walpurga’s witch? Let’s review the story from the beginning first.
Around the time of Elise’s birth, in a far away place, Rozenmarine and her dreams of fate were born as well, while one of the last remnants of Walpurga’s cult was being burnt at the stake — that, instead of Elise being conceived, might have been what truly weakened Walpurga.
Later, during their pilgrimage, her granny taught Rozenmarine everything she knew, including Ozzy’s folk tale. Like His name being lost to time, the reason his story was spread about in Rozenmarine’s coven could also had been forgotten; Elise did mention it sounded like a cautionary tale and perhaps, it originally had been — do demons like competition, I wonder.
As previously said, Elise’s genesis had fascinated Walpurga. She wanted back what was taken from her and also recreate what Ozzy had done that day to no avail. No matter how much that ate at her, in 18 years, she didn’t target Elise yet.
Not even Father Hans, perturbed by Granny Holle’s dead bed confession 10 years ago, acted upon his suspicions until both demons and Walpurga made themselves known in town. Or maybe he did, if Elise saying she felt ostracized after her granny passed away is anything to go by.
It’s when Rozenmarine reached Kieferberg, when everything happened all at once again: she met Flocke and her fateful dreams stopped; Elise got attacked by roots in her own home, but never again, and she dreamt of Ozzy’s realm even before getting the shoes; and a windstorm hir town, stirring Father Hans into action, believing it was the result of Granny Holle’s pact with the demons years ago.
Suddenly, everybody had a bone to pick with Elise. What changed? Rozenmarine.
Tumblr media
This scene here is what makes me think Rozenmarine is Walpurga’s witch. In the bad endings where Walpurga kills and possesses Elise, she does so by impaling her with roots or branches like the ones that appear here. Not to mention, it all occurs next to a St. Walpurga’s statue, like it were a macabre foreshadowing of her involvement in the plot. If she could always have done an attack such as this, why then and not before? Elise had been alone for years, living in a house far away from town — nobody would have heard her scream for help. It’s, however, easily explained if Walpurga required of an intermediary to physically manifest.
The curious thing is, like I mentioned earlier, that it doesn’t happen again. For some reason, Walpurga doesn’t get a second chance to attack Elise within her own home. Coincidentally —or not—, in the next morning, we are introduced to Flocke, who mostly stays around the house with Rozenmarine.
That incident, and Rozenmarine’s dreams about fate coming to an end, I believe are related to Flocke’s presence. It would be in Ozzy’s best interest, if Rozenmarine was supposed to aid Walpurga, that she were to be as much confused as possible about her true purpose in Kieferberg — lo and behold, depending on the ending, she has a different idea about what that purpose was.
Thus far, we have a back and forth between Ozzy and Walpurga, and it keeps going: unable to go after Elise directly and following the demon making his move to snatch her first —the shoes—, Walpurga lures the girl into venturing the woodland by telling her about the Gifts.
You’ll think that Ozzy would be pleased with the idea, after all, it played in his favor. But, judging by this mysterious line of his: “Although you didn’t quite need them (the Gifts), did you?” And the look he gives Elise after she returned with the basket, maybe things weren’t going according to plan at all.
Tumblr media
This is going to be pure speculation, however, it’s undeniable that Elise and Henri have certain parallelisms between them: their isolation and desire to escape it. Perhaps it goes further than that and Henri’s fate was supposed to be Elise’s as well: I don’t think he had to go through the Trials or sacrifice The Good Company, after all, he wouldn’t have followed her mother’s footsteps had there been someone in his life to alleviate his solitude, and it’s highly doubtful Elise would have told him about the Gifts to begin with. Like Henri, maybe she would have died in her sleep after the deal was sealed and she gave her name as payment, becoming Ozzy’s new loyal servant.
Furthermore, it could be possible that Ozzy only asked for her first born to spite Walpurga, who had been a sore thorn in his side through the whole game. Failing to procure Elise, she lost her only chance to become a woman and bear life in her womb, so what better way to twist the knife than to ask for a child with the sole intention of eating it? Because then, I don’t know how to explain the presence of the moths in the bad endings where he wins otherwise: did Ozzy kill Walpurga offscreen and steal her familiars? Maybe so.
As I said, it’s pure speculation, like Ozzy slowly grooming Henri into a demon, treating his name the same they do their own —with mystery— and giving him duties that eerily resemble what Murim and Aziel are tasked to do. So, in other words, let’s get back in track.
Before Murim was sent to meet Elise, Walpurga had kept herself busy with Eugen’s horses. We later find one, twisted into an enormous monstrosity —inspired by Mari Lwyd, maybe?—, which attacks Elise. It could have been Murim’s doing, however, he had already given Elise the Testament, meaning she had passed the Trial and was free to leave — like in Aziel’s domain. Not only that, the monster only appeared after the reason our heroine stayed —a disguised Walpurga—, finished her creepy monologue.
Walpurga apparently had something to gain if Elise died within the woodland, or else she wouldn’t have forced her back in Murim’s grove to rescue Apfel. In this second incursion, she also made an interesting revelation that supports this theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She always wanted the Gifts for herself — like Rozenmarine had explained at the start of the game, they represented Elise’s whole being. If she were to get her hands on the Tender Flesh, she gets Elise’s body; if she gets the Sweetest Nectar, Elise’s blood; and if she gets the Good Company, Elise’s love. And it illustrates so wonderfully why the endings happen the way they happen: if the Tender Flesh and/or Sweetest Nectar are offered, she can’t possess Elise and would rather she died in a pyre or have her turned into a tree; if the three Gifts are correctly offered, Elise is untouchable, the parts representing her under the protection of demonic sigils; and if Elise failed to offer any Gift, because they’re on her person one way or another, Walpurga gets to wear her like a costume.
Why the demons would do nothing after technically being offered and accepting the Gifts in the good endings, is a mystery on its own. Perhaps the commitment they were all on about, was the commitment to love? That brings us to Aziel’s grove and all of its mixed messages.
The next morning Elise rescued Apfel, Flocke can be witnessed throwing a tantrum and promptly leaving — Ozzy obviously displeased with Walpurga interfering so brazenly. The back and forth between the two beings never stops, even if Walpurga makes no further appearances —thanks to Aziel— other than in the endings and those branch attacks inside of Ozzy’s realm which, judging by his sigil after they have already crossed the portals, perhaps he’s trying to dispel instead of summon — the mist is also suspicious, being almost identical to that which follows the moths.
While in her domain, Aziel kept insisting to Elise that she should indulge and dive deeper into her desires, while pointing out that she has yet to discover what they are. It might be a red herring, but after Elise had confessed her wish to the old hag in the beginning of the game, Rozenmarine warned her with urgency that she shouldn’t disclose it to anyone. We’ve got to remember that one of Father Hans’s documents also describes how the woodland —Walpurga— harbored people’s wills, wishes, desires and sins in the past. Was Aziel trying to make our heroine know that her desire had been tampered with? Truth be told, Elise seems to yearn leaving Kieferberg more than riches, giving weak excuses as to why she doesn’t: “… if only it was that easy.” It is, in fact, since in the good endings she just does that. So, it could be possible.
The mixed messages, however, made themselves present during Aziel’s boss fight. After encouraging Elise to pursue her wish until then, Aziel asked to be shown how much Elise cares for her love interest. And if that wasn’t enough, she one-hit kills her if her answers didn’t prioritize her paramour —heavily foreshadowing the requirements for the good endings— while giving her this quote:
“Rather self-serving, aren’t you? You’re not worth my time, let alone His!”
Recalling the scene with the Golden Maidens, you can’t make me believe that some of them truly loved anyone in their lives, lest pass this Aziel’s test. Like, between the three first Golden Girls, who was supposed to be The Good Company: the one being murdered or the one thrown under the bus? The main one fitted the self-serving moniker perfectly and yet, Ozzy was to await for her in his banquet.
The fact that Ozzy would allow the Golden Maidens prowl around and warn Elise left and right is suspect as well. In his defense, he does say that they’re hard to tame.
Did the demons want Elise to succeed? Or perhaps they were quite content with Walpurga losing. If it’s the former, what a plot twist!
Nonetheless, I believe we have answered the original question quite well: who did it? The one who kickstarts the whole conflict is Ozzy, being responsible for Elise’s very existence to begin with, but the one who actually makes the first move to snatch our gal and keeps the pace of the game is Walpurga. Father Hans is also there, aiding Walpurga by ruining people’s livelihoods, when the demons only pulled what amounted to pranks in comparison — crows standing around menacingly and stealing some grain, and floods that caused no lasting damage.
🦋Still, I hope you enjoyed my descent to insanity and that you now appreciate Walpurga as the proactive villainess she is — not everything was Ozzy’s fault, even if he would love you to think so.🦋

Hi, this is based on the Northwest (USA) and a thread about carnivorus plants but: a forest that works as its own entity that lures people in with ambiance/aromas to act as food for calcium-deficient trees :)
Oh shit that’s dark!! TW I’m going to venture more into horror than horny with this one, so please be aware this story contains references to animal and human death!!
The forest called to him.
He’d felt it when he’d first come to town.
Something in the air wrapped around him, fogging his brain, like the smell of food when he was starving.
That’s when the dreams started.
He’d never sleepwalked before, but here he was, steadily trying to break out of his own house to head to the woods.
Good thing he had roommates.
Yet, he could never quite remember what exactly he was dreaming about at the time…
“I’m going for a walk!” He yelled out to the house.
“Okay!” He heard called back from the other room, whilst in here the TV was turned off.
“So…” his roommate said casually, “where ya off to?”
“What do you mean?” He said, a pit in his stomach.
“You know what I mean. Are you heading to the well?”
The well was on the edge of town. It also was next to the edge of the woods. He’d found himself drawn back again and again and -
“Seriously, man. Don’t do it. It’s not fucking worth whatever it is you think you’re gonna find in there.”
And with that the TV was turned on again.
He slammed the door behind him, heading into the crisp autumn air.
He didn’t mean to end up at the well. It’s just, he could smell something sweet in the air, coming from the woods. The scent wrapped around him pleasantly, leading him back. Always leading him back,
He signed and rubbed his eyes.
This place had been messing with him, haunting him, and he was so damn tempted to just march straight in and give it a piece of his mind.
How dare these forces control him like this?! He was his own person, goddamn it, and he could make up his own mind on what to do and where to go - screw his roommates!
He left the well behind him, marching on into the woodland.
His first thought was that it was much more damp than he’d anticipated. His boots sank into the mud a little with every step.
The next thing he noticed was how strong that sweet smell was. It was strange, clearly coming from one direction.
His mind whispered to him. Go deeper…
He felt a sort of giddiness at taking control and taking action, at finally being in these woods. See? It wasn’t so bad! Nothing scary here, nothing but pine trees and the pleasant sounds of nature…
Except, didn’t nature sounds normally include birds singing and critters racing around?
It was eerily… quiet.
Except for the squelching of mud.
He headed for a greener area, hard land, and when he arrived his first step was signalled by a harsh snap beneath his heel.
He pulled back and noticed the tiny bones.
Probably from some unluckily animal, he thought.
That was when he noticed… more bones.
In fact, a rather worrying amount of bones.
The majority were old, from small birds or squirrels, but some were… worryingly larger.
Dogs? Wolves?
He froze.
A human skull rested at the base of one of the trees.
His roommate was right. They were all right, he shouldn’t be there.
The sweet smell wasn’t just there to cover the scent of rotting corpses, it was there to lure in more prey.
To lure in him,
He started to turn back, but his head felt heavy. The adrenaline didn’t do much to stop his limbs from freezing up.
Everything titled.
His vision was blurring.
The smell, the air, it was poison.
And it felt so good, it made him feel so sleepy.
And the bed of bones looked so comfortable.
I’ll just take a little nap, he thought. The forest is so peaceful, after all.

I saw your post regarding Silvan Elves and Mirkwood. Curious as to your thoughts on where most reside, rest their heads...Do they have a place within the Elvenking's Halls or do they mostly conduct themselves outside of the Halls? I have opinions but am curious to see what others think. TY!!
This is a really great question!
During the Third Age, when the Necromancer became a prime threat and the Silvan Elves were forced to move northward, the Elvenking Thranduil built his Kingdom in the Mountains of Mirkwood. This provided a lot more stability and relief for the Elves, since this was the last pocket of Mirkwood that no evil could—or would—breach. Since they had the protection of the mountain, and the acceptance that they wouldn't be able to rebuild their old homes in the South, the Elves poured their entire concentration into making the mountain as beautiful a home as they could. Despite being underground, the halls are luxurious and filled with trees to remind those who dwell within of the forest outside, and there are plenty of places for feasting and celebration. Interiors are beautifully furnished.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That being said, I don't believe that all of the Silvan Elves live in the subterranean halls—their hearts still love the forest above all, and many of them still remember the beauty of their former homes. These Elves choose to build a community outside of the mountain, still within a concentrated safe area within the borders of the Elvenking's Halls, but in areas that are still wholly woods. These dwellings are constructed high in the trees, to protect from Spider ambushes, Orc attacks, and whatever other evil creatures that would seek to harm the Elves. They are sturdy, but elegant, and also incredibly well-hidden. These houses act both as homes and watchtowers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two districts—the Halls of the Elvenking and the last Woodland City—are not quite two separate entities, but rather a tightly-woven community. The bridge between the mountain city and the forest one is well-trodden, since the Elves love to connect with both regions for both the scenery, people, vendors, and resources. As Thranduil and his house dwells in the mountain halls, most of the official business is conducted there, but in peaceful days, many of the celebrations are held in the forest, where the Elves can be more connected to the beating heart of Mirkwood.
In times of peace, this allows for the exchange of trade, knowledge, and communal festivities. But during times of conflict, these two communities serve a more strategic purpose: the sentinels of the Woodland City would be able to see danger before it attacks, and if it is too great, all the Elves would retreat to the Halls of the Elvenking for protection.
So, to answer your question, the population of Silvan Elves is pretty much evenly split between the Halls of the Elvenking and the city on the borders of the forest, but they are still one tightly-woven community!
