Admittedly, my version of the fae are very close to eldritch entities. Sort of like… cousins. Like, dogs and wolves. Both canines, but wolves have existed for far longer than dogs have 👁️

Do psychotropic drugs and/or ritual play a role in any of the blightseed cultures? A pretty broad question, lol
Yeah that’s a very broad question, the answer is about as much as it tends to play roles in real history. Alcohol is pretty ubiquitous (outside of cultures that abstain from intoxicants) and used for a variety of purposes, opioids are commonly used in some parts for pain relief or recreational purposes, stimulants (usually in mild, natural forms) are used to provide extra energy, and hallucinogens are most commonly used as part of a larger religious framework (rather than for recreational purposes). Any more elaborate answer kinda has to be case by case in a certain culture or part of the setting.
I'll just take this as an opportunity to talk about the one established sect that pretty much REVOLVES around psychoactive use. This is the Scholarly Order of the Root, which is a sort of mystery religion + elite community of scholars who currently occupy the Ur-Tree and its forest in the far southern Lowlands (southeast of Imperial Wardin, on the same land mass).
The Ur-Tree is the obligatory Huge Fucking Fantasy Tree (and its surrounding forest). It’s a mass of vegetation about a mile tall and almost as old as Plant Life Itself, its upper branches are primeval plants, which become more modern the nearer they get to the ground (and each 'level' holds tiny ecosystems, some containing descendants of LONG-extinct arthropods/other small animals). Its lowest branches and the surrounding forest are contemporary plant life, and all is connected and protected by an incomparably MASSIVE fungal mycelium network (which is itself a living god).
A lot of the Scholars' more secretive practices revolve around experimentation with substance use with the goal of expanding the Mind and transcending the body to fully connect to the Dreamlands, and they have a supply chain of traders and mercenaries called Rootrunners who traffic substances into the Lowlands. Most of their psychoactive use is in a very intentional capacity and not just like, for fun, but a LOT of them are just straight up addicted to cocaine (in the form of alchemically refined bruljenum, which is used for practical purposes of its stimulant effect during long hours of work).
All known psychoactives are desirable for experimentation (particularly hallucinogens), with each having properties that either allow expansion of the Mind, transcendence of the body, or outright divine communion. Their effects are logged in great detail and interpreted to form the basis of the Scholars' understanding of the natural world and reality itself.
The most important substance is Ur-Root, which is root matter from subterranean levels of the Ur-Tree that have both their own intrinsic psychoactive substances and a very, very high concentration of living god mycelium. The tree root contains DMT and the mycelium has its own wholly unique effects (being an actual living god). They alchemically refine it into a purer, more potent form, and use it to expand beyond the body and directly commune with the Giants, a group of entities they have identified as the only true gods.
An Ur-Root trip starts off with minor visual distortion, which turns into shifting fractals that slowly obscure the vision. Eventually the senses are entirely taken over by a 'tunnel' of rapidly shifting fractals and geometries. In a complete trip, the experiencer gets a sense that they have been pushed through a membrane and entered another realm, finding themselves in a distinct experiential Space.
At this point they may encounter entities which communicate to them in a language impossible to describe but wholly understood. These beings are understood to be the Giants, or at least aspects of the Giants that mortals are capable of comprehending (they often take familiar tutelary forms of the Mantis or the Snake, or appear resembling the same type of sophont that the experiencer is, all composed of ever-shifting geometries). The experiencer often feels a sense of unconditional and endless love from these beings, though the Giants may be more hostile and may appear in the form of the Trickster (usually a cultural figure regarded as malicious, be it an animal or otherwise) in a bad trip.
(^Up until this point, this has mostly just been a DMT 'breakthrough' experience ft. 'machine elves' and the like).
They are then removed from this space and returned to something that feels like the real world, but is nearly unrecognizable. They have a sense of rapidly moving through time, and will usually see 'the spires' towards the beginning, which just so happen to look like this:

The experiencer continues to move across an unfathomable amount of time, occasionally 'seeing' other such flashes of unfamiliar landscapes and creatures, and yet also being devoid of all their senses, the 'seeing' is pure, unfiltered experience. There is a sense of interconnectedness with all life, and that one has become the forest (or even Life) itself. The sense of time is wildly distorted, the trip lasts only about 5 minutes but feels like an eternity and is understood as literal hundreds of millions of years.
The experiencer has usually lost any remaining sense of Self and individual consciousness during this phase (in which case this time distortion is usually a neutral or even peaceful experience), but some retain a fraction of their identity, and find themselves trapped and conscious while experiencing what feels like eternity (which can be LIFE-CHANGINGLY distressing, even after the fact).
(^This latter part of the trip is the effects of the Ur-Tree fungus).
The trip ends with a sense of rushing through the ground and back up into one's body, at which point they will abruptly return to their senses and consciousness. The details are then immediately retrieved via interview and recorded in immense detail. The whole experience is understood as having been full comprehension of the Dreamlands, communion with the Giants, and then a tour through the act of creation.
This is done as part of the initiatory practice into the inner mystery-religion of the scholars, and as needed for study by high scholar-priests. It is not taken lightly, both as it is absolute communion with the gods and reality, and in that it can be a very, very difficult experience. People who have gone through this often walk away with a permanently shifted perspective, often in a positive and/or comforting way- a sense of interconnectedness with all life, a peace with the concept of death, seeing less of a point in individual ego and the concept of Self, and comfort in the sense of divine love they (may have) experienced. This heavily influences the philosophy of the Scholars and has had effects by proxy in the religious worldviews of the region.
Details of this experience are closely guarded, and initiates are given absolutely no prior knowledge and expectations for their trip. This is seen as a necessity- their naivety will allow for a true, unfiltered experience, and can be used to gauge whether they should or should not be accepted. Those that have a distinctly bad trip upon initiation may be assumed to have been 'rejected' by the giants and thus denied full priesthood, though this largely depends on How they interpret their distressing trip- those who identify this as a test and harsh lesson in a journey to enlightenment may be accepted (as this is how fully initiated scholar-priests interpret and handle their bad trips).
This inner priesthood is only a small fraction of the Scholarly Order, and its greater function is as a hub of education and repository of knowledge, and Scholar-trained doctors can provide some of the best medical care available in the setting ('best medical care in this setting' only means so much but it's pretty solid, relatively speaking). Only a chosen few Scholars ever get to commune with the Ur-Root, and most of the divine secrets revealed in the process are kept hidden (though they indirectly influence the politics and worldview of the entire order).
#I'm kind of fascinated by the quasi-religious beliefs that have developed around recreational hallucinogen use (ESPECIALLY DMT)#In contrast to like. Uses of DMT-containing substances like ayahuasca for long-established religious purposes#So this concept is basically 'what if a religion was FORMED from pretty much the ground up out of DMT usage'#Like the common 'entities' people encounter in recreational use being identified as the Real Gods and producing a religious worldview#that is mostly rooted in this experience (while still influenced by other cultural factors)#Also the like. Meta going on here is that the fungus is a 'living god' and the oldest one on the planet#It is a VERY rare type of living god that is 'created' by non-sophont (non-sentient even) beings and exists as a mycelial network#that perfectly supports and protects an entire forest. Basically a god for plants. It is so deeply interconnected with its forest that the#usual power sophont belief would have over it has basically zero influence. This is absolutely the closest thing to A God in canon.#(While still not being a Creator/sapient/or even supernatural within the framework of this reality. Just VERY unique.)#The Ur-Tree has always been above water and grows very very slowly over the course of millenia by kind of 'pulling up' plant life from#the ground (so you see ancient long extinct plants in its higher branches and contemporary plants close to/on the ground)#The mycelium helps shield and feed extinct plant life that could not otherwise survive in the contemporary environment#And the forest is big enough to produce its own weather (it is a rainforest and has been ever since the capacity for rainforests Existed)#It's not really a tree at all in any normal sense but an amalgam of thousands of types of plants-#Some growing on top of others and some interwoven beyond any distinction. It does form a superficially treelike structure#(mostly in order to physically support its own mass) with a very wide 'trunk' and massive 'roots' (which end in actual roots).#It feeds on its own perpetually shedding and decaying 'body' and any animal life that dies in the forest is VERY rapidly#decayed and absorbed by the mycelial network (to the point that many large scavengers cannot survive in this forest)#(If you kill a cow and leave it on the ground for just 1/2 hour you'll see little strands of mycelium already growing up around it)#The fungus fruits and spores on a very infrequent basis (scale of ten-thousands of years) which causes the forest to very slowly spread#Fortunately this isn't really an existential threat because the spread is VERY slow (even on a geological scale) and the fungus#itself is rather mundane in nature and cannot usually compete against established fungal networks in other places.#Though there are little Ur-Tree mycelium groves and woodlands in other parts of the world that may (over untold millennia)#generate their own Ur-Trees (there's already a few but they are all MUCH smaller and not readily recognized as the same thing)#WRT THE TRIP:#Most of what I'm describing is a DMT trip but consumption of high doses of Ur-Tree mycelium has both mundane psychoactive effects#and IS kind of the person experiencing the fungus' entire lifetime and seeing flashes of the world's actual evolutionary history.#The amount of material knowledge that can be accurately gleaned from this this is VERY limited though.

The first short story in my paranormal fantasy series Wachterin has such a stupid plot, and I love it for that because the laughter I get from writing it is priceless.
Beat for beat it's just:
Cliche horror movie family moves into a haunted house
Haunted house is VERY haunted
Cliche horror movie family already has a vaguely annoyed poltergeist attached to them
Vaguely annoyed poltergeist doesn't like sharing things
Vaguely annoyed poltergeist get's even more annoyed at the very notion of sharing anything with another spirit
The pettiest fucking ghost dispute in all of written history occurs
Dark/evil spirit is powerful but vaguely annoyed poltergeist is the ghostly equivalent of jacked as hell so they aren't too concerned when the conflict escalates
Dark/evil spirit crosses a line and there is murder, this is where the dead go to die
Poltergeist returns to being in a state of only vague annoyance as they get comfortable in their new territory
The human family lives happily ever after because they are the one singular group of beings that the vaguely annoyed poltergeist is willing to coexist with (they're all pretty chill guys)

Mostly just summarizing this from the article on minecraft.net, but:
New pigs. There are now cold and warm pigs!
New "pink petals" style blocks, for leaves on the ground as well as a new "wildflower" yellow flower.
Leaf piles can be made from smelting leaves, and can be used as a fuel source.
All leaf blocks now generate particles under them.
Yes that includes, for some reason, spruce leaves. They all also share a texture, tinted differently based on biome tint, seemingly.
The new pigs babies are based on the parents, not the biome.
Lodestones have a new crafting recipe, using iron instead of netherite! This makes them much more obtainable.
New sounds for iron blocks.
Zombified Piglins nerfed for farms heavily, must be killed by players.
Farm animals can spawn in badlands!
Bubble columns more optimized.
The pale gardens are now larger, and can generate woodland mansions!
Creakings can be nametagged, making them persist during the day! Apparently, if they're stuck with a player, they will still despawn, as well as if they get too far away from their heart, but still a nice change. Nametagged creakings are still resistant to damage and such too.
Creaking Hearts now have a new texture during the day.
The creaking heart & eye blossoms now use fixed time, as opposed to being effected by the weather / dimension brightness.
These are all the changes that most players will be excited about, but I'm going to put the more technical stuff that I usually focus on in a readmore so I can get this out sooner!
THE PIGS ARE DATA-DRIVEN. YOU CAN ADD YOUR OWN PIGS.
Tamed animals can now be owned by other entities than players.
Text components now use SNBT instead of JSON. This might have some neat ramifications, but we'll see. Might make text components more powerful, like variable text in books.
Fill / Clone / Setblock commands can now surpress block updates, giving massive new options to builders who use commands.
New "weapon" item component, makes making weapons easier than before, + shield negating can be applied to any item now with this data change.
"potion_duration_scale" component, which heavily hints that we may finally be getting data-driven potions very soon. This is basically how the game would normally handle "extend this potion, make it shorter if its a splash potion, shorter even more if its a tipped arrow"
"tool" component, allows players to specify whether a tool should be able to break blocks in creative mode, like how swords cannot.

The Native Peoples of North America (also known as American Indians, Native Americans, Indigenous Americans, and First Americans) are the original inhabitants of North America believed to have migrated into the region between 40,000-14,000 years ago, developing into separate nations with distinct and sophisticated cultures. These autonomous nations spread from Alaska, through Canada, and the lower United States. The earliest periods of migration, settlement, and development are defined by archaeological evidence (spearheads, tools, monumental structures) from sites throughout North America and are most often referred to by the following terms: Paleoindian-Clovis Culture – c. 40,000 to c. 14,000 BCE Dalton-Folsom Culture – c. 8500-7900 BCE Archaic Period – c. 8000-1000 BCE Woodland Period – c. 500 BCE to c. 1100 CE Mississippian Culture – c. 1100-1540 CE During the Archaic Period, some Native populations moved from a hunter-gatherer paradigm to a more sedentary social model as evidenced by sites such as Watson Brake (c. 3500 BCE), Poverty Point (c. 1700-1100 BCE), and others of varying size, developed throughout the region during the Woodland and Mississippian Culture eras. Although European expansion across Canada and the United States eventually deprived the indigenous peoples of their ancient lands, the nations still exist today and the image of the 'vanished Indian' is as much of a myth as the 'noble savage' or similar tropes developed by European and American scholars during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

I know that you got rid of all the definite super-natural stuff which I think was a really good choice. I know dreamlands cult is still around, but what happened to the giant ur-tree. That was really cool. I was wondering if that was still a thing or significantly changed at all. This blog and all your world building is super cool 🫡
Unfortunately it has to be significantly changed due to the original concept being like, not actually a tree but like a suspended structure of millions of years of plant life (the highest branches being composed of early land plants extinct everywhere else, the trunks being a twisted amalgam of contemporary trees and foliage) supported by a quasi-sapient deified fungal network.
There's nothing I can do that doesn't wildly nerf the concept down, but I'm maintaining the Spirit Of Things by having the Ur-Tree be a clonal system of very large trees that are actually a single tree connected by a root system, which is over 10,000 years old. This single tree is functionally its own woodland, and part of a much larger (otherwise non-clonal) forest.
This ancient tree is an individual from a spec bio species that I haven't fully fleshed out yet. I was thinking something spruce-like in appearance but it needs to produce fairly substantial quantities of dimethyltryptamine in its bark/roots. It grows in humid subtropical-tropical regions (the Ur-Tree is in the Lowlands, which is a humid coastal subtropical region) and has a fairly wide spread, but its range is fragmented and it's almost always found as a singular tree among other species, no other clonal colonies of this size and age exist (and thus the Ur-Tree is recognizably unique). Its root system is a key host/mutualist symbiotic partner for a spec bio fungus with strong hallucinogenic properties, which is refined along with the bark extract to make the Ur-Root entheogen used by the Scholars sect of the Eterhimhamdli religion.
This retcon allows for people to still live in the Ur-Tree (in a less literal sense of living within the space of the colonial organism), for it to be a large location that is a focal point for a religious practice, for its components to be used in production of a very strong hallucinogen, and for it to be a Presence that predates the cultural memories of any groups that encounter it. It might not have the cool factor of the Giant Fucking God Tree but it preserves the aspects that are most interesting to me in the confines of this setting.
The effects of the hallucinogen are also VERY similar to the pre-supernatural nerfing event version (just less Specifically Targeted without the 'experiencing the memories of a semi-sapient fungus' aspect). A full trip starts with minor visual distortion that turns into fractals, the experience of going through a tunnel and 'breaking through' into a distinct experiential Space, you may encounter things you perceive as entities that communicate with you, etc. (This is just DMT.)
The come up period for the fungus times itself near perfectly with the come-down for the DMT (there is usually no moment of in-between for the user). This is experienced as the previous space shifting into one that feels more like the real world, but with a heavily distorted sense of time, the user feels as if they are living through hundreds of thousands of years. Their senses are distorted and indistinct from one another, hard to categorize as 'vision' 'sound' 'smell' 'touch', it's raw Experience. In a good trip, the user loses all sense of individual identity and experiences a sense of oneness with all life, rendering the sensation of endless time into a peaceful experience. In a bad trip, the user remains semi-conscious and might retain the concept of the 'self' and therefore experience what feels like being trapped in this space for millennia.

Tobias ‘Eric’ Robinson was a child of abuse. Always the victim of his toxic masculinity ideology, Forcing him to drop out of school and into jobs he doesn’t want to ‘toughen up” since he was 15, Forced to tag along in hunting at the age of 8 and witnessing innocent creatures being slaughtered for sport. Because of his father he despised the very name he was given, He despised every feature that was passed down to him through genetics. 
Although his father was cruel, It was always his mother and sister who gave him the loving and comfort he always sought. Connie, His mother was kind, She loved him unlike his father. Tobias praises his mother for how much she strayed him away from his father’s teachings. His sister taught him basic math even though she was much younger then him, Still teaches him basic stuff to this very day..
But everything changed after he went missing. Tobias was found a couple feet away from a dead hiker. Although his memories were foggy He swore he’d never hurt anyone in such a way. But no one would ever believe a mentally disturbed teenager like Tobias, A boy who slowly grew to love violence because it gave him a sense of strength, A boy who was a repulsive liar and hostile towards others. A boy who was a feral and untamed dog
After his mother was hospitalized by his father, Tobias seeked vengeance. Tried to kill his father in the house he was staying at, But at the end Tobias lost and retreated into the forest barely alive from the amount of blood he lost. But on that night, Tobias Robinson died. In his place a feral shell of a man was born. Weeks hiding in the woods turned him into a wild animal. Eventually Tobias stalked his fathers until he was in the deepest parts of the mines before caving his skull in with a sharpened rock. But little did Tobias know, His sister was with their father too. Unable to control himself Tobias killed his younger sibling before retreating into the caves of the mines
When Tobias awakened he was in a large cave with a tree-like entity towering over him, Giving him promises of control over his life again. In return it wanted his everlasting loyalty and devoted faith to it. For the price of freedom, It was more than worth it to Tobias’s eyes. To this very day Tobias has been a devoted and faithful follower to the great watchman

Ayo I just had a Thought™️ that I need to share.
So we know how xehanort went to see the magic mirror and he snitched giving Ven's location and setting old nortys plan into action because so much of it hinged on him. Well how screwed would he be if Lauriam found Ven first and booked it out of the graveyard by the time Xehanort got there?
So picture this, Lauriam wakes up in Dwarven Woodlands and just instinctively knows where Ven is and goes to find him. He successfully gathered his unconscious body and not having many options goes to Traverse Town. He tries to keep a low profile especially since the book of prophecies did not anticipate this so Luxu is like what the fuck? This wasn't part of the plan? And now goes looking for them.
Somehow Lauriam learns about a place where keyblade wielders can find sanctuary but it's not LoD. Instead it's the Mysterious Tower so he goes there with Ven and requests help. Yen Sid doesn't have the same trauma with darkness Eraqus has nor the obsession with balance and the keyblade war as Xehanort. So he accepts the boys as his students and already this changes so so much.
Presumably both would maintain their memories or at least most of them. Because Ven wasn't abused by Xehanort he never had his heart split in two and severely damaged. The Ven we met in khux remains intact. No ancient darkness released and given a physical form so no Vanitas and this means Sora doesn't connect and is no longer destined to be a keyblade wielder. This also means he isn't feared as a possible weapon so for the first time ever he has a teacher who takes his training seriously and improves leaps and bounds. His speed is still his strength but he's much more versatile and well rounded. This also means Lauriam would probably be a master by the time Ven is 16 and he may not be far off from his own mark of mastery. Not to mention Mickey also would've become their friend being a fellow student. How much does his early involvement stop future events from playing out?
This also means Xehanort has no reason to use terra and aqua as pawns. Ven was his way of worming back in and without him he can't go back to Eraqus. This means Terra and Aqua don't have their own test tampered with so Terra likely becomes a master as well. Now Xehanort's plan is seriously delayed. Riku possibly doesn't get an inheritance ceremony. With neither boys making contact with a keyblade the destiny islands may be spared from falling into darkness which would prevent Roxas, Namine, and Xion being created. Which also screws with organization XIII.
Suffice to say Luxu is big mad and stressed probably searching all over for these two links like where they hell are they? Their lives are supposed to get severely fucked over because fate demands it! This might put another player (ha) into action sooner. Skuld. I'm sure Luxu knew where she was and tries to put her in Xehanort's cross hairs. But does this mean Elrena also still gets picked up by the organization? Does Skuld take the place of Lauriam? Or Ven? If her heart was badly damaged she wouldn't produce a separate entity of darkness she'd likely just die. Or does her heart connect with Sora? Or Kairi? Does she get caught up in Xehanort's plan still? Or does a newly minted Master Lauriam seek out the young princess and give her sanctuary?
It really is crazy how much the modern story would be screwed if Ven isn't found and used by Xehanort. How close is Lauriam to finding Strelitiza? Does he get her home sooner? Does having another keyblade wielder of the flower duo turn the tides? Do they meet up with Terra and Aqua? Are they closer to Lauriam than Ven because of age? Does radiant garden still fall? Do nobody's with physical form still come to be?
Just if Lauriam could've kept his promise to Ephemer, how much would've changed? Would Luxu need a plan b? Someone else to jumpstart the next phase besides Xehanort? Would Skuld become the new main pawn?

You definitely remember planting your tulips just yesterday. At first it was your cabbages growing large just after a few days of planting, then the tomatoes and now the tulips. The colorful bulbs sway in the breeze, the fragrant flowery smell relaxes your bones. Yet you can't help but feel creeped out by the weird phenomena.
You just moved in recently to a quaint town that's settled right on the edge of a dense woodland area. You've heard of the stories when a human has captured a fae’s attention, and it looks like this is the case for you. All the stories don't always end well for the former. But if the extremely fast growth of your garden says anything, it's that this particular fae means well. Hopefully.
So as a thank you to the kind entity, you place a bowl of milk and honey right under where your tulips are planted. You've even left a plate of salad all made from the crops you've lovingly planted and bloomed after just a few days of planting. You think for a second that maybe the soil under your feet is healthy and bountiful but there's no harm done if there isn't any mythical creature helping you. The worst case is a raccoon eating your offerings.
Bewildered is an understatement, your eyes are the size of dinner plates once you see something shimmering on the ground. Whatever you did, the fae seems to like it. They left a crown of daisies on your doorstep the next morning, the petals are all adorned with flecks of gold. The flowers run like silk under your fingers.
You look past your garden to the woods, the fog swirls around the edge. In your vision you see the mist form and shape into a tall slim figure. Your hand tightens around the crown of flowers, hands shaking in disbelief.
You didn't go out that day.
More gifts appear outside your home, tiny trinkets woven carefully to create something beautiful. A bouquet of flowers on your windowsill, a figurine of a spider made from vines that's left hanging by the large oak in your backyard. They all appear outside your house so there's no cause for actual fear. If only you stop feeling eyes on you whenever you go outside.
A friend from the city visited you one day, telling you how much they've missed you, gushing on how much you've missed while away. They ask if you ever feel lonely out in the outskirts of the country you could always come visit them.
The same eyes you feel outside can be felt in your bedroom that night.
Whatever latched on to you seems benevolent, watchful, yes but not evil or controlling. You've gotten used to the presence after a few months of living at your cottage. You've even started talking to them during the day when you have no one to turn to. You tell them stories of your almost forgotten childhood and your old life where the houses are made of glass and grey stone, where they stood high above, almost touching the heavens. They've never responded, always listening and ever present.
He wants to respond though, tell you tales of old, where the flowers used to sing and dance, where the woods reigned supreme above all. He misses them, yes, but he misses your voice more. Is it possible to miss your touch too even though he's only imagined it before? Perhaps your hands feel like the finest silk spun upon his skin, your fingers weaving through his like a glittering river, waking him up from his centuries of stagnant waters.
He's seen you laugh and cry, and tend to your garden like it’s your own children. He wants nothing more but to join you in harvesting your bounty, to converse with you and listen to you mumble about your day. Gradually he appears behind you when your back is turned, watching as you make your dinner, observing you plant something new. Then in a flash, he vanishes when you turn around. Leaving you feeling empty
You enter the gates of your garden with tears in your eyes, words barely coherent by your sobs. Kneeling in front of your tulips, you grasp the grass underneath, pulling and ripping out the blades. A sudden hand circles around your wrist, warmth enveloping you in a crashing wave.
He appears just behind the tulips, your eyes soften when your vision focuses on his handsome and otherworldly face. He doesn't know what's gotten you upset but what he does know is that it'll be alright for now on. Because he's—
“Here, ‘m here” His voice calms you down like a thick blanket in the winter.
Without hesitation, you embrace him, the smell of sandalwood and flowers almost stops your heart. You grip him tight, his strong arms envelope you securely, his face nuzzled right between the space over your neck. You do the same, already feeling at home on his skin.
“You're here. You’re real, aren't you?”
“As real as you” he leans back to look at your tear stained cheeks, wiping it with his thumbs. “And here to stay if you want me to”
“Please” you lean on his touch.
He nods, placing a weighted kiss on your forehead. Suddenly you know his name. You call it sweetly amidst the tears, it feels welcome on your tongue.
For the first time in years, Hobie smiles and chuckles, kissing you atop your eyelids with a promise to never leave your side.

Deck Review: Under the Oak Tarot by Ofride and StregaDelleMele

This is a borderless deck featuring a sometimes-sightless girl named Anima as she traverses a fantastical otherworld.
Physical Concerns
Overall: 10/10, so far very satisfied (especially for the price), would buy again if I lost it
RWS Clone? No, but RWS symbolism is obvious in a handful of cards, notably the High Priestess and many Major Arcana cards. Other cards are completely unique.
Cost: 10/10 for quality. As of this review, $26 without shipping
Card stock: 10/10, the card stock has a nice texture and feel sturdy. But it isn't the super thick stock that's stiff and difficult to bend. It doesn't feel cheap and it's nice to shuffle. Also, gilded edges, which we love. It's a standard size deck.

Box: The box is nice and relatively sturdy. It's not a huge box (like we see with Woodland Tarot or Animal Totem Tarot) which I like, because my storage isn't unlimited. The box has an unattached lid and you can dump the cards out for easy access. The LWB fits in the box. Sometimes I struggle with hand pain and it feels like an easy access box.
Little White Book (LWB): It's a 128 page book with translations for English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. It includes meanings for each card, and three spreads with very little explanation. More about LWB meanings and card interpretations below.
Deck Theme and Symbolism
Per the introduction in the LWB, this deck follows the journey of Anima, a visually impaired child who travels through a fantastical otherworld and learns to develop a second sight.
While many of the cards that feature Anima show her being blindfolded, the deck clearly uses sightedness as a metaphor for spiritual enlightenment or "second sight." All of the 10s cards and The World XX show Anima as seeing clearly without her blindfold, and some other cards show partial sightedness as well.
Beyond that, this is an eclectic deck, no two ways about it. This is primarily present in the court cards and some of the Major Arcana cards.
The Pentacles cards feature Basque mythology; Wands are Welsh and Celtic, Swords are Norse, and Cups are Greek. There's also Hebrew symbolism (notably the High Priestess II), and probably other stuff I haven't picked up on because I'm not the most well versed in mythology.
A lot of the cards feature mythical beings, but there are also statues and woodland creatures.

I think the symbolism is nice. Sometimes the cards are more heavily re-imagined (like the Star XVII and Moon XVIII), while some of them are more or less exactly what you'd expect from RWS symbolism (Devil XV).
The Minor Arcana takes more symbolism liberties, and some of the cards are very different from RWS.

Overall, I really enjoy how it reads. I love a good borderless card, and this deck is A) fun and B) really pretty to look at. It's got enough familiar symbolism to ground me, but a lot of the cards are very different and with enough wiggle room to explore my own interpretations.

Card Interpretations
The LWB interpretations are all about a spiritual journey, healing, and transformation. So if you're looking for a spiritual journey deck, this one might be for you.
At the same time, there's enough going on with the cards that I didn't find it to be difficult to link the meanings to a wide variety of topics.
The one thing I've got no idea about is the runes, which feature heavily in the Swords suit (which is also the suit where all the court cards are Norse entities). I don't know if the runes are thematically relevant to the card at hand or not. Hopefully they are, because I can imagine how irritating that would be if you read runes and it doesn't match.

Here are a few Minor Arcana honorable mentions. Note the familiar symbolism of the 6 of Pentacles (bottom row, second from left), but the unique symbolism of the 5 of Swords (bottom row, far right).
Overall I found the cards to be evocative and easy to connect to, with enough symbolism in each image to facilitate intuitive reading.
