the annoyance with blk y/n and the stories she’s in is hilarious. her characteristics might be the problem one day or her side characters the next. it legit feels like we may never get to a balanced solution on what to do with our own representation since the wrong ppl always talk about it and create it. we have mean and shallow ppl who take over the conversation, ppl who really self hate but try and cover it up with “i just don’t want her to be a stereotype” and then the ones who probably love and support tyler perry movies.

the bottom line is the ppl who do write those niggafying, toxic (it’s a buzzword but that’s what they are) or smutty fics (not talking abt the actual good ones with a blk reader though 🧎🏽‍♀️) can do wtv they want and owe you nothing. that’s why they get so frustrated. i don’t think all the times those should be crucified for what they write when other groups of ppl (or our own) write all kinds of other crazy shit.

and.. i know a lot of ppl who don’t want to say it but y’all keep bringing up the smut and niggafying as the main problem, but i think it’s some of the ppl writing it and their underlings. it’s just no one wants to say anything.

(edit: ppl write blk yn to be in unfulfilling situations) but girl i can watch a tyler perry movie for all that.

again. ppl write these stories for there own personal reasons, relate to them and enjoy them for those reasons as well. that’s why depending! on what it is i don’t think blk writers should be bombarded with hate like that. also ion think smut should be banned like y’all go to far can we just slow down on it … there are some nice ones out there i promise 🧎🏽‍♀️

but in all seriousness there are many other reasons why i feel toxic and smutty fics are popular for blk yn but i don’t think anyone cares to hear that and the conversion will prolly go back to nigga eren somehow which is crazy cause y’all be arguing over a fictional white man.

Queer discourse of any sort seriously drives me insane, but lesbian discourse makes my head hurt more than anything else 😭 my journey of coming to ID as an aro lesbian who loves bald and/or pathetic baby men in fiction was a long one wrought with distress, mainly due to people who go around pretending to be the Gay Police. Like, as of right now, I’m a mostly cis, mostly female-aligned, lesbian who is only attracted to women irl, which fits most people’s idea of what a lesbian is. But that doesn’t mean I’m not hurt by lesbian exclusionaries, because every single time someone comes up on my dash being like “I hate lesboys I hate mspec lesbians!!!” I’m like. Well what if later down the line my gender shifts to be more masculine again. And I like my little fictional boxer boys, does that make me a “bad” lesbian?

This is the new talking point i try to use as leverage against exclusionary ppl. By being exclusionary towards certain groups of lesbians, you’re hurting all the lesbians - even the ones you’re white-knighting for in your exclusionary statements - because you’re showing us that if we do something you don’t like with our gender or sexuality/romantic identity, you’ll come after us. If i see somebody being exclusionary, I automatically assume they’re gonna see me kissing George costanza’s bald head and make a callout post about it because he’s a stinky, rotten man.

This is very discombobulated bc I have thoughts. But tldr, as someone who isn’t mspec and is hardly male-aligned, I still hate exclusionaries. Especially exclusionaries who use “you’re hurting the real lesbians!” As an excuse to be nasty. Like no, I think lesboys and mspec lesbians are cool and them existing has done no harm to me.

And that’s not even addressing how a lot of lesbian discourse loops back around into like, radfem/terf bioessencialist territory. Men are not inherently evil and scary and bad. Just liking women doesn’t make you a better person than someone who likes men, or men and women, or anybody in between. We’re all just beings at the end of the day, and gender is made up anyways.

I think the thing that pisses me off the most about ACOTAR isn't the characters, nor is it the world-building BUT RATHER THE POTENTIAL BEHIND IT!!!

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the interesting courts in The Cruel Prince but I am A BASIC PERSON. Anything with the elements in it will make me hooked and not only does it have the elements as courts, it has the day and night cycle which is amazing. I love it. Holy shit I was so close to picking the book up and then I get told by my friends that ACOTAR kinda sucks, it ain't worth the money. And then I find out how problematic the author and the works are, like WOW!

I was attracted to Rhysand before I found out all that shit he did. Feminist, dark-haired, fierce but only has eyes for the FMC? Typical best male lead behaviour. I didn't think my male lead was going to be a creep and an incel! Like if in the hands of a better author, imagine the amount of like character building there could be. Imagine the breaking of generational trauma that Rhysand could do for the Illyrian women because he knew what his mom went through. It could have been such a good story of a man becoming a feminist and boy oh boy, does a feminist male make me swoon.

The whole reason I wanted to read ACOTAR was the sweet romance and the cool courts and all and you're telling me we only focus on one.

LIKE THE MISSED POTENTIAL IN THE WORLD-BUILDING, THE MAGIC, THE RELATIONSHIPS AND ALL FOR WHAT? HOW MANY BOOKS IS ACOTAR ON NOW AND WE STILL DONT HAVE A NICE CONCLUSION, HAVE MULTIPLE PLOT HOLES AND COUNTING AND THE FANDOM IS BURNING ITSELF INSIDE OUT. It's like global warming but in this fandom and book.

Yeaah... I tend to stay away from a lot of social media platforms, from reddit, and I especially try to stay away from the comment sections because they would make my blood pressure skyrocket. I’ve only seen a small fraction of it and it's been enough.

It’s the same old story, right? In media, if the man cheats, it’s because ‘boys will be boys’ and they just need to realize what true love is. If a woman does it she’s a… well, we all know what words people like to throw around. Not to mention that, TAS strictly speaking, Rogue (alongside the other one-night stands that were implied in many episodes in the original series) was the other woman. Gambit was married to Bella Donna and kept secrets from both women.

One thing that people don’t want to accept is that Gambit and Rogue never went official in the animation (even ‘97 acknowledges that). Rogue doesn’t owe Gambit anything, but that’s not how some fans want to see it. We can’t even compare the two situations, and, in all honesty, Gambit is not even a quarter of the way to knowing the taste of his own medicine. 

In 'X-ternally Yours' the way Rogue reacted when she found out about Bella Donna was very compassionate and supportive towards Gambit, even if he didn’t have the decency to explain to her (or anyone in the X-men) the messy situation of his past. In ‘Remember it’ he held her accountable for something that had happened way before they met, with no complications or consequences to anyone, and for something she had the courage to share with him. This small nuance, which I absolutely love because it speaks volumes about the two characters, is taken and twisted by a part of the fandom. And that…really sucks.

I always try to keep in mind that these people are just a small fraction and not the majority of a fandom. But they are SO. VERY. LOUD and end up with a lot of reach. That is the real problem. Because they're perpetuating a toxic take. Lately I haven’t been able to enjoy any Romy or Gambit related content because of them and I hate it. I grew up with the ship and I still love Gambit so damn much but they are really good at destroying that for me.😔

“I twisted my ankle”, he said and you were immediately by his side to guide him to one of the stretchers.

A few people surrounded you two, since there was no one else to attend at the moment. You took Kai’s shoe off and then his sock too to check the foot…but there was nothing to check.

“It’s not bruised or swollen…”.

“That’s good, right?”

“Yeah”, you said, giving him a funny look. “Does it hurt when I touch it?”

“No”.

“Does it now?”, you asked, applying way more pressure than necessary.

“Yes! Don’t do that”.

“Just checking. I got this, guys. Go get everything ready for the rest of the players”.

Kai could tell you weren’t happy by your expression. He knew you too well but that went both ways. You knew him too well too.

“Did you fake an injury?”

“What? Why would I…”.

“And about to marry someone”, you said and Kai closed his eyes and let his head fall back before he started to laugh. “I really am an idiot, huh?”
