You taught me the courage of stars.... before you left

Megumi Fushiguro x Itadori Yuji / One-Shot / Pure Angst

a/n : Based on the song "Saturn" by Sleeping at Last, I got this idea and couldn't stop crying while writing

Megumi stood alone on the training ground. The stars twinkled above him, like luminous reminders of a bygone era. He was deep in thought, his eyes scanning the sky obscured by intermittent clouds.

He had always found solace in the starry sky, a peaceful refuge where he could escape and reflect. But on this night, melancholy permeated every star, and his heart was heavy.

Memories flooded into his mind. The evenings spent training here, the wind gently caressing their skin, the laughter they shared as they tried to improve their technique. He remembered how Yuji would point to the constellations, naming the stars with enthusiasm even though he only knew a few of them. Yuji was always like that, passionate, living every moment as if he knew time was running out.

But now Yuji was gone. His presence had faded, leaving Megumi alone in the darkness.

He sat down on the hard floor of the training ground, his hands resting on his knees. The stars seemed to flicker, as if he could hear Yuji whispering words of encouragement to him, words of love through the veil of night.

He remembered the day they died. The day they all died. The look in Yuji's eyes as he accepted his fate, sacrificing his life to put an end to Sukuna. Megumi had been there, powerless, unable to do anything to save the one he loved. The one who had taken possession of his heart and protected him against all odds.

The pain was still fresh, like a wound that refused to heal. He wondered how he could go on without Yuji by his side. How could he find any meaning in life when his heart was shattered into a million pieces ?

He looked up at the stars, his eyes brimming with tears that he refused to let fall. He remembered the promises they had made to each other, the dreams they had. They imagined a future together, a life where they could be strong and free. The world was waiting for them.

Now it was all a distant memory.

"Yuji…" he whispered into the darkness. "Why did you leave?"

He wished he could feel Yuji's warm presence beside him again, gazing up at the stars as if they were the only inhabitants of the universe. But now, each star reminded him of his loneliness, his grief.

The stars seemed to be twinkling, as if they were trying to communicate something to Megumi. Maybe they were the words Yuji would have wanted to say to him if he were still here. Maybe the whole universe shared his pain.

Megumi closed his eyes, desperately trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over. He remembered every detail of Yuji, every laugh, every look of love.

He remembered with bitterness how far away those moments seemed now. He had always felt that he would end up alone, abandoned by those he loved. It was as if his whole life had been a series of gradual losses, an accumulation of voids that only deepened.

He had never really felt that he belonged in this world. Even before Yuji, he'd lost too much. His father, his mother, his sister, his father again. Each departure had left a painful mark on his already fragile heart. But Yuji had changed all that. With Yuji, Megumi felt his heart open up again. He had finally found someone who understood him without the need for words, someone with whom he could share his sorrows and hopes. They had become more than friends, more than lovers - they had become soul mates.

And now Yuji had been torn away from him, like all the others before him. Megumi wondered if he was doomed to a life of loneliness and loss. Perhaps it was his destiny to be always abandoned, always left behind as those he loved drifted away.

Always left in the shadows, waiting for the sun to shine again.
