Zach and Violet Kiddo Refs!!! Vera Edition!

Well, I already gave you Varina’s details, so now it’s time to share the details about Vera! Zach and Violet’s second oldest daughter! I am putting a cut below because it’s a lot again! Please note there are mentions of pregnancy and drinking, but they are only implied/ minor mentions!

Vera Vanica Varmitech

The Basics:

Birthday: December 14th, 2019 (4 years younger than Varina)

Drinking, A Fashion Show, and a Christmas Wish: Violet and Zach had been told they never would be able to have another child after Varina’s traumatic birth, but they wanted more children and Varina kept asking for a little sibling every year for Christmas…until her wish finally came true. Vera is the product of a wild night at one of Donita’s fashion shows when Zach and Violet were there to provide security (Zach’s Zachbots) and entertainment (Violet sang in the show). Donita gave them a little too much to drink….and Vera happened…As such, Donita often claims Vera as her own child, and they form a very strong bond.

Name Meaning: Vera - True; Vanica - Gift of God. Named for the fact that she was a true gift from God (see section above 😊). It should be noted that her name is pronounced “Vaira,” Zach and Violet collectively agreed that they hated “Veara” as a pronunciation.

Nicknames: Ve (By Zach and her siblings), Ve-Bee (By Martin), My Protégée (By Donita)….others to be added?

Physical Features:

Hair Color/Type: Dark Brown, but a shade lighter than Varina’s; long hair, but not as long as Varina’s - it goes to the bottom her rib cage; her hair is naturally wavy/has lose curls. She prefers to style it in a ponytail, down, with headbands and hair accessories, or with braids.

Eye color/ Shape: Emerald Green, round - they look just like Zach’s eyes. She uses darker eye makeup (browns and greens) to accentuate her eye color.

Signature Colors: Lime Green, Rose Pink, Black, and ✨Sparkle ✨

Style: Girly-Chic, preppy, formal, high fashion (she’s a girly-girl and complete fashionista).

Height: 5’4” - She’s taller than both Violet and Varina, something she likes to tease them about 😂.

She has Violet’s face structure: a muted triangle, she has Violet’s lips, she has Zach’s nose, she has pierced ears - two sets of piercings to be exact, and she has a mixture of Zach and Violet’s builds. She has a fair skin tone that is somewhere in between her father’s and mother’s, but it is a bit darker than Varina’s. As a child she had freckles.

Personality/ Relationships:

Personality: Sassy, sweet, caring, creative, intelligent, devoted, determined, ambitious, confident. Vera has Zach’s drive and determination, and Violet’s sassy attitude and heart. Vera is the type of person who knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to put in the work or effort to achieve her goals. This does not mean that she’s heartless though, she never wants to hurt or harm anyone with her actions, so she tries to ensure that everyone she works with or associates with is treated fairly and is comfortable with her and her decisions. She goes the extra mile to make sure those around her are loved and cared for.

Relationships With Family: She’s a total daddy’s girl and mommy’s girl. She is a loving sister to all of her siblings. Given her position as one of the older children, she does take on more of a caring role toward her younger brothers and Victoria, but nothing like Varina’s motherly role. She’s more of the older, wiser, fun sister they can come to about anything with no fear of judgment. She has the strongest relationships with Varina and Vallen, they both, in many ways, are her best friends.

Love Interest/Future Family: Due to the demands of her career, Vera does not pursue love until later in her life, she is well into her 20s when she finally decides to start dating, and even then love finds her unexpectedly. When visiting with the Wild Kratts crew on break from her touring schedule, she becomes reacquainted with a fellow Wild Kratts Kid, Nolan (please note I only ship her with the fictional version of Nolan, not the actual person, and I only ship them together as adults).

As children they were great friends, but once they are adults their friendship blossoms into a romance. I imagine that once Vera is in her 30s she decides she wants to start a life with Nolan. She still performs locally and releases music from time to time, but does not tour. Nolan is very supportive of her career and encourages her constantly, being so proud of the fact that she uses the proceeds of her career to help others and animals (see section below for more info).

They marry and have a couple children together (I feel like a boy and girl 😊). She and Nolan, along with Vallen and some other former Wild Kratts kids, eventually take over the Wild Kratts organization, carrying on the legacy of the original Wild Kratts Crew (@creativegenius22 helped me figure out the relationship/dynamic between Vera and Nolan! Thank you!).

Zach’s reformed by this point, but he still grips about the fact that his daughter married a Wild Rat and is a Wild Rat, so a similar reaction as he had with Varina and JJ.

Talents/Career:

Special Talents/ Future Career: Vera is very intelligent like her parents, and while she thrived academically in school (always making the honor roll and getting good grades), she decided to channel her creativity for her career. She is a skilled pianist, singer, and gymnast, and she excels in ballet and lyrical dance. When she became a teenager she decided she wanted to pursue a career as a musician. Much like Violet, she gets started locally around her home, performing in talent shows, etc.

Donita observes Vera’s talent and decides to take her on as a model and performer for her fashion shows (at this point Donita has stopped using animals for fashion), just like she did with Violet. This is Vera’s start and she gains a strong fan base. After a couple years she decides to go out on her own, but is nervous to perform alone.

Vallen had joined her many times when she worked for Donita, so once he graduated from high school, they form a sibling duo group much like Velvet and Veneer. They often donate many of the proceeds from their shows to animal conservation and cancer foundations; in particular they help donate to the Kratt Brother’s Animal foundations. They perform together for a few years, then Vallen quits to pursue a career in zoology, at which point Vera comfortably becomes a solo musician.

A Few of Her Favorite Things/Fun Facts:

Christmas and Valentine’s Day are her favorite holidays. Even though she doesn’t have a romantic love interest to celebrate Valentine’s Day for many years, she just loves love and enjoys the day with her loved ones.

She typically consumes a pescatarian vegetarian diet, loving fruits, vegetables, fish/seafood, bread, and sweets. She will eat red and white meat on occasion, but it is rare, it typically only happens at holidays if it’s a dish she really likes.

Music: She love boy bands and pop music, some of her favorites are … Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, Big Time Rush, The Wanted, Conor Maynard, Halsey, and Melanie Martinez.

Animals/Nature: She love all animals, but her favorites are nearly any type of bird (humming birds, cardinals, peacocks, doves are just a few of her favorites), butterflies, dragonflies, big cats, domestic cats, rabbits, pandas. She also loves all types of flowers, but roses are her favorite flower. Spring and winter are her favorite seasons.

She is not as outdoorsy as her other siblings, she, like Zach, prefers to stay indoors, but she will go outside and enjoy nature when the weather is nice. She becomes a Wild Kratts kid early on.

She loved Sofia the First as a child, and other classic Disney movies and shows, like all the princess movies: Princess and the Frog is her favorite animated movie. Another interesting show she enjoyed was Green Acres: she loved Mrs. Douglas’s sense of fashion. She absolutely loved the High School Musical Series, Ryan and Sharpay being her favorite characters. She also loved Trolls…especially Velvet and Veneer 😂. My, my, wonder why she became a fashionista and singer…

Magic School Bus/Wild Kratts crossover masterpost

Basically, @daiohficblog and I have been coming up with lots of headcanons that cross over the shows.

WARNING: This post is by no means organized.

How does everyone know each other?

First of all, Ms. Frizzle knows everyone. So of course she would know the Kratt brothers and the rest of the WK team (Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy).

The MSB kids are introduced to the Wild Kratts team during a whale-watching trip off the New England coast.

Phoebe's uncle, Dr. Cecil Byrd, is a traveling ornithologist from Australia and often bumps into the WK team.

Creature powers:

The kids all have their own creature power suits (which Aviva made them for Christmas one year).

Color schemes:

Phoebe: Red

D.A.: Violet (different from purple!!!)

Carlos: Dark blue

Tim: Cerulean

Ralphie: Green

Arnold: Yellow

Wanda: Pink

Keesha: Fuchsia/Magenta

Other hc's

Carlos and Mikey's sibling dynamic parallels Martin and Chris's dynamic. You have the older sibling who likes to goof off and the younger bro with slightly more brain cells.

First creature power the kids used:

Carlos and DA: Peregrine falcon

Ralphie, Arnold, and Phoebe: Red fox

Tim: Pine marten

Keesha: Rattlesnake

Wanda: Bullfrog

Family/pets/whatnot.

Phoebe and Ralphie are step-siblings in this universe. They also have the most pets:

Brandy (a grumpy old tortoiseshell cat). Dr. Tennelli (Ralphie's mom) adopted her before Ralphie was born. Former stray.

Joxter, a black-and-white tomcat. Brandy's son. Adventurous, but also lazy (rather like his namesake from the Moomin books). Good swimmer.

Renee and Megan: Two red foxes, rescued from a fur farm. Renee has the "normal" reddish-orange coat, and Megan is leucistic.

Jeanette: An old border collie (female). Another rescue.

Loretta: A black-and-white Newfoundland dog. 6 years old.

Charlie: a piebald ball python. (Not sure whether Charlie should be a boy or a girl.)

Fang: a male red-kneed tarantula belonging to Ralphie.

HC's continued (not in any particular order)

Carlos is very arachnophobic-- so he tries to avoid spiders at all costs. However, most other "scary" animals (sharks, crocodilians, snakes, bats, etc...) don't frighten him.

Martin and Chris have become somewhat of "elder sibling figures" for the kids.

Wanda is the water-lover of the MSB gang. She brings her snorkeling/scuba gear WHEREVER she goes.

Phoebe and Ralphie (AKA the Terese-Tennelli siblings) like to visit Ralphie's uncle Brian at the lake to go fishing. It's the same lake where the "Bass Class" fishing contest took place.

Uncle Brian (Dr. Tennelli's younger brother) is an expert fisherman.

In the fishing contest before the events of "Bass Class," Brian won first place in the local fishing contest, and Gavin came in third. Fortunately, Brian is a lot nicer about winning and losing than a certain cheater named Zach.

The WK kids of Frogwater Pond (Gavin, Ronan, Jenny, Katie, Aidan, and Nolan) are in this AU, and they know the MSB kids. (Since they know Phoebe and Ralphie, who come to their forest every summer).

Carlos has two younger siblings: Mikey (one year younger) and Maria (three years younger).

Mikey is a computer/tech prodigy, and as such, often helps Aviva with her inventions. He also makes his own inventions (for which Carlos is usually the test subject). He uses a wheelchair to get around.

Maria is the math expert of her siblings. She is also deaf and uses American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate.

Mikey might not be able to walk, but he's good at a lot of things: fishing, kayaking/canoeing, playing the piano, and more.

Phoebe and Carlos (the most avid birdwatchers of the MSB gang) have developed a "secret language" composed entirely of birdcalls. One key part of this language is that anyone using it has a birdcall that stands in for their name.

For instance, Phoebe's bird name is the eastern phoebe's song, while Carlos uses the northern cardinal's song for his name.

They also teach the birdcall language to Martin and Chris, who use the calls of the purple martin and pileated woodpecker, respectively. It does not go well.

Phoebe might seem harmless, but she isn't. She's been taking karate classes since she was little, and if you hurt any animals around her, RUN. In fact, she's rather like her avian namesake: small and unassuming, but a fighter through and through.

Wanda is even more of a fighter-- leading to the bird nerds in both crews comparing her to a kingbird.

The Ice Cream Run is a time-honored tradition of both the MSB gang and the Wild Kratts team. Some details:

The best Ice Cream Runs are at night. Everyone get in the car/bus/Tortuga and head for the ice cream store.

You do not want to interrupt the Ice Cream Run. Under ANY circumstances. (The WK villains learned this the hard way.)

Phoebe and Martin bond over the fact that they share their names with birds. (The eastern phoebe and purple martin, respectively.

Any time either of them sees one of those birds, they'll send each other a picture of said bird with the caption "this you?"

Wanda can pilot the Cheetah Racer and the Amphisub and the Buzz Bikes. She is not allowed in the Tortuga's cockpit.

Carlos can pilot most of the underwater vehicles (the Amphisub and the Manta sleds), but he always crashes the hoverbikes.

Mikey usually helps Koki with system maintenance of the Tortuga. (At least in the early days, when he's still learning how to make computer programs without any bugs.)

How each of the kids handles being captured by any of the WK villains:

Arnold: Carlos shows up and frees him. (The two of them are rock bros, and rock bros always have each others' backs.)

Carlos: Annoying them with horrible puns and messing with their tech.

DA: Smacks the villains with her books.

Keesha: Also resorts to punching.

Phoebe: Fury of the bird she's named after.

Ralphie: Smacks the villains with his baseball bat.

Tim: Escape artist.

Wanda: Crowbar to the face. (Nobody knows where she got the crowbar.)

Wanda has only been captured once. After that time, none of the villains dare to capture her again.

Pretty much all the MSB kids (Arnold included) will resort to violence or trickery if they're captured.

Carlos might be the goofball of the MSB gang, but he can switch into serious mode very quickly-- especially when one of his younger siblings or friends is in danger.

MSB kids from oldest to youngest: Carlos, D.A., Wanda, Tim, Keesha, Arnold, Ralphie, and Phoebe.

There is a 6-month age gap between Carlos (born in October) and Phoebe (born in April).

By contrast, the shortest age gap is between D.A. and Wanda, who were born one week apart in November.

Carlos's favorite creature power to use is peregrine falcon power-- to the point where he always keeps a falcon feather with him.

Tim is the climbing expert of the MSB gang. Wanda is the swimming expert.

Tim is also the only person in the "I Injured Myself Falling Out of a Tree" club (which comprises himself, Phoebe, Wanda, Carlos, and Chris) who has never broken a bone.

Every now and then, Carlos (dinosaur nerd) will contact the Tortuga to tell them he's seen a dinosaur. They know full well that he means birds.

Wanda rescues her pet bullfrog Bella from a shady pet store while Bella is still a tadpole.

As in the "Hopes Home" MSB episode, Bella escapes and goes off to live in the wild. However, Wanda can't help but worry about her.

HC that Bella escaped to Frogwater Pond, and the kids there keep an eye on her.

The "Gets Swamped" episode of MSB is also canon to this AU. After the events of that episode, the swamp Carlos helped save is made a nature preserve in his honor.

Carlos and Wanda are practically adopted twins, and they share a brain cell.

Wanda technically has two brothers, but she doesn't get along with them very well. She argues a lot with her older brother Henry (they both get on each others' nerves), and there isn't a lot she can do with her younger brother William.

Martin and Chris have substitute-taught Ms. Frizzle's class a few times. It ends up being just as chaotic (if not more so) than the days when the Friz is there.

Women embodying nature

Following iconography of women leaning into landscapes and becoming emerged into them in the picture plain, this poem unpacks the historical connection women and our bodies have had with the cycles of the earth. the moon cycle is a pivotal example of the celestial world having an external pull on menstruation which follows a monthly cycle. further many spiritualities see women as the earth mother, in Aotearoa she is Papa or Papatūānuku, she can be Gaia, or Mother Nature colloquially.

Chapter: Papatūānuku as a mother

Papatūānuku is a nurturer. She, in her wisdom, impart life’s essential lessons to her tamariki (children). In other words, she teaches us how to act, what to value, what to prize and what to let go of in life. Her gifts include endurance, action and decision, caution, humour, hope and courage, judgement and fairness. 

Chapter: Papatūānuku as the earth

Māori have a spiritual link to the land that is the land of their ancestors. In one respect, respecting the land connects them with their ancestors in the distant past. In another respect, it is directly respecting and maintaining the authority of Papatūānuku. Papatūānuku gives us the air we breathe, rivers and lakes in which to clean our bodies, food and medicine & plants and animals. Conflicts over land and mana whenua (territorial rights, authority over the land) are common, but Papatūānuku herself shows manaaki (care) for her tamariki (children). Māori consider themselves tangata whenua, people of the land. As tangata whenua, they are therefore the kaitiaki (guardians) of Papa’s natural environments: te takutai (the coast), ngā repo (wetlands), ngā moutere tapu (islands), te pō (the night), te whenua waotū (the high country) and Te Wao Nui a Tāne (the forest). This role is important for sustainability of these treasured environments.

Contemporary New Zealand Māori Artist, Star Gossage (Ngāti Wai / Ngāti Ruanui) portrays elements of Papa in her personification of divine wahine in her painting practice. She lives and works, surrounded by whanau, on ancestral land at Pakiri, north of Auckland.The imagery Gossage brings forward is expansive on one plane, yet lit by her inner world quotes Ngahiraka Mason, Artand, 2014. November 29, 1972: Atari introduces the Pong video arcade. Al Alcorn created it as a programming exercise, but Atari co-founders Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney were so impressed with it that they helped manufacture and distribute the finished product to all points across the U.S.A.

Pong would eventually enter the home market during the 1975 holiday season, and so would their competitors who created various Pong clones to take a bite out of Atari’s profits.

What do you think of the Wild Kratts kids? (Specifically their sons - Ronan, Gavin, Aidan, Nolan)

Varina: Well, for starters HI!!! We are Varina, Vera, Victor, and Vallen Varmitech! There is one more of us on the way, but mom and dad haven’t had Victoria yet, so we’ll answer this for now…with basically me (Varina) and Vera answering because well, Victor and Vallen are 2 right now… we are 9 and 5 so we’ve been able to really hang out with and get to know the Wild Kratts kids! More below cut!

Varina: We’ve had pretty awesome creature adventures with all the Wild Kratts kids, especially Gavin, Ronan, Aidan, and Nolan because they are always around! I’m pretty close with Gavin and Aidan. Much to Dad’s dismay, he still hasn’t gotten over losing to Gavin in the fishing competition. I also really love spending time with Jenny, Katie, and Sani! They are like my best girl friends aside from Vera! She’s my best girl bff for life! *muttering* Well, usually…

Vera: I really like all the Wild Kratts kids! It’s always fun to be able to play with kids that aren’t Varina, Victor, or Vallen. It kinda gets boring playing with them all the time. But I love playing with Nolan and Gavin, they are really nice boys! I really like playing with Nolan because he’s so nice, he really likes Pronghorns, and I do too. He’s also got really cute hair. And I like his eyes, they are really pretty and blue…

Varina: She’s got a crush on Nolan…

Vera: No, I don’t! I just think he’s cute!

Varina: She’s got a bear named after him that she kisses!

Vera: No..No I don’t! Daddy! Varina’s making fun of me!

Varina: Mom! Vera is lying and is calling daddy to save her, that’s not fair!”

Victor: I like wild kids! (They are 2, they mean they like the WK kids lol)
