Witchy red flag #2: Practitioners who prescribe crystals for health issues.
Now Iâm not saying that rose quartz canât help your anxiety, but what I am saying is DO NOT carry a rock around instead of taking your meds. DO NOT tell people that xyz rock can help with diabetes.
These are real things I have seen being spread around in this community.
Like hello???
Also, this is a lowkey call out post for âThe Good Witchâs Guideâ by Charity Bedell & Shawn Robbins. There are sections in this book that are guilty of this very issue, with no disclaimer to be found. Obvi, itâs kind of an unspoken rule that when it comes to witchy books, you gotta use discernment level 100. But itâs also exhausting that it needs to be this way. These people shouldnât be allowed to just put âyeah cuddle this quartz to get rid of your heart diseaseâ without THOROUGH disclaimers present.
All this being screamed said, I am a crystal witch đ I love those shiny bastards, and I use them regularly in my life and in my practice. But I also understand that they cannot perform miracles.
I sincerely hope that anyone who has been victimized by this weird concept wins their lawsuit against those authors đ
Thatâs all for today, folks. Bitchcraft, out âď¸

One thing I absolutely adore about Dead Boy Detectives is the immaculate costume design. Specifically, how it perfectly encapsulates who the characters are, both as a whole and who they are in the moment.
From the very first scene of the show, we know immediately that Edwin is a bookish, somewhat stuffy guy from the Edwardian era who attended a boarding school, and Charles is a punk from the 1980's who's most likely the wildcard between the two of them, just going off of the way that they're dressed. Both of them have distinct color schemes and different styles, but the general shape of their outfits is actually relatively similar---both of them have collared shirts (Edwin's dress shirt, Charles's polo), something over those shirts (Edwin's vest, Charles's suspenders), a jacket of some kind (Edwin's suit jacket, Charles's flannel thing), a longer overcoat (Edwin's traveling coat, Charles's peacoat), something around the neck (Edwin's bowtie, Charles's necklace), slacks, and nice shoes. They're distinct, yet matching, two clearly defined separate characters yet part of a set.
Edwin's prim, proper, buttoned-up personality lends itself to the way he dresses throughout the season---in the first episode, he only dresses down when he's in the office with Charles, aka his safe place and his safe person, and he doesn't really dress down like that again for a good long while after getting stuck in Port Townsend (though, if my memory serves me correctly, he does take off the suit jacket while watching TV with Niko). But in episode six, he's changed up his usual look for a cozier, casual-looking sweater and a little bit of collarbone, and in episode seven... well, he's in his nightclothes, and he's about as open, raw, and vulnerable as you can get. Edwin's color scheme is also predominately blue, which lines up nicely with his logical and practical, yet deeply sad and closed off personality, and the only time he really wears anything other than his normal blue-and-brown outfit (willingly, that is) is when he's in that green sweater in episode six. And, uh... all I can say is that it's quite telling how blue and green---or, well, teal---are the main colors of the gay/mlm flag.
Charles, by contrast, dresses down a lot, and that makes a lot of sense when you consider the fact that unlike Edwin, he feels comfortable pretty much anywhere. On any given episode, he goes from wearing his peacoat to just wearing his flannel to ditching the flannel to not even wearing the freaking polo---though, again, the latter is something that only happens when he's in the office with Edwin. Safe space, safe person. And, well, plenty of people have analyzed Charles's polo shirt going from red to burgundy to black over the course of the series, and there being a little bit of red under the collar of his coat that's only visible when Edwin fixes it, and then it goes back to burgundy, and then it's red again when Edwin's out of Hell... for good reason! It's color symbolism at its finest! Not to mention, the red and black not only perfectly contrasts Edwin's color scheme, but it also lines up with Charles's personality---he's a rebel, he's hotheaded, he's bold and brash and loud... and yes, he's angry, but he's also so, so loving.
When we first meet Crystal after she loses her memories, her outfit choices feel very deliberate. They're stylish and vaguely trendy, they're arty and a little bit witchy---pretty fitting for a psychic who's also a showbiz kid, even if she doesn't know that last part. But all of her clothes appear thrifted, or at the very least vintage, and the patterns and the general vibe all feel natural and comforting. Her makeup's always fairly simple, her hair's either down or up in a couple of cute space buns... overall, this Crystal looks like the kind of person who'd make you tea when you're in a bad mood, who'll listen when you just need to vent, and who may not always know the right thing to say but will understand what you're going through. But when we see her in the flashbacks, her clothing's flashy and prioritizes high-end trends over comfort, she's either got her hair up or has it straightened, and she not only has dramatic makeup, but acrylics. This is a girl who talks shit about you behind your back, who's bitter and cynical and wants everyone to feel the same way, who makes up for the lack of love and stability in her life via material things. It's also worth noting that Crystal's color scheme has a lot of purple, which is a color that connects to wealth and luxury, but also creativity and magic---which, yeah, fits her two conflicting sides pretty damn well.
You cannot talk about Niko Sasaki without talking about her outfits, and the meaning behind each of them has already been talked about at length. However, one thing that really stands out to me is that the reason they're so iconic isn't just because of the monochrome color schemes, but because they're out there. They're weird, they're eclectic, they're a little mismatched in style sometimes, and they're so unapologetically her. Niko wears heart-shaped sunglasses, unironically. Everything about the way she dresses speaks to how, even though she's a recovering shut-in who initially doesn't want to be perceived, she's still very sure of who she is.
Jenny's design, like Charles and Edwin's, is a design that gives you the key information you need the minute she first appears onscreen. The dark makeup, the silver jewelry, the leather apron, and the hairstyle all point to a person who's tough, doesn't take anyone's shit, and has long since given up on caring what other people think---in other words, she's a badass. But the butterfly tattoo hints at a softer side, a side that we see time and time again throughout the series as she shows that she cares about Crystal and Niko, and even the boys... eventually. Also, Jenny's design is perhaps one of the most clearly queer-coded in the series, to the point where her being a confirmed lesbian is pretty much a no-brainer.
Esther's design oozes camp, from top to bottom. The fluffy coat, the bustier, the boots and the cane and the everything, speak to a woman who's kept with the times and yet has seen it all. There's really not a lot I can fully say about her design, other than what Charles has already said: "She looks like a witch... like, kind of a sexy witch, who smokes a lot." (Or maybe I'm just tired and running out of steam at this point, idk, I love Esther's design and I can't really put it into words.) It's also pretty fitting that her color scheme has a lot of yellow in it---after all, she's always striving for more, so what better color for her than the color of gold?
Everything about the Night Nurse's design speaks to a woman who follows rules and discipline above all else, from the pantsuit to the pinned-up hairstyles to the tie to the heels. She's also the most muted out of the main cast in terms of color, dressing mostly in browns, dull greens, and duller browns---and while I don't have a lot to go into detail about there, I feel like that's kind of a symbol of her narrow-minded and bureaucratic worldview.
And the animal characters... Jesus Christ, I fully forget that they're all being played by human actors. Tragic Mick dresses like a man who's always spent his life by the sea, layered denim and all, and it's never a stretch to see this sad, bushy-bearded, baggy-clothed fisherman and imagine him as a walrus lounging on a beach. Monty, at first glance, seems to only wear black, which would be perfectly fitting for a crow, but when he's in better lighting, you see that he dresses in layers of red and blue, calling to how he envies Charles and Edwin and clearly longs for something more---and this might just be me, but I think that even though his outfits seem fairly normal at first glance, they feel kind of like a costume for Monty more than anything else, like he's trying to emulate a teenager that he's seen on TV more than someone in real life.
The Cat King fits this just as well, with all of his outfits aligning perfectly with whatever his cat form is at the time---when he's a fluffy ginger, it's always sequins and fur coats and clothing pieces that are specifically designed to take up space and call attention, and when he's a black shorthair, it's sleek styles and shiny leather and pieces that are designed to cut an intimidating yet more subtle figure. And while I could go into detail about all of those, what really stands out to me is how clearly queer everything is---more than Jenny's alt lesbian attire, more than Esther's campy coat and corset. From the very first scene he's in, he's wearing a skirt, and it looks natural. Nothing about the way the Cat King presents himself is exaggerated, nothing about the way he dresses is played for laughs---he's flamboyant and feminine and flirty, and he looks so fucking hot while he does it. It's gorgeous.
So... yeah, uh, all the awards for the Dead Boy Detectives costume designers!

If I may add on:
Referring to the Sun as âheâ or the Moon as âsheâ is not whatâs a red flag.
The red flag is when people try to divide people by Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine and use the Divine Feminine rhetoric as a way to be misogynistic and transphobic. Way too often do I see âwitchy womenâ and âdivine femininesâ act EXACTLY like trad wives with a weird worship of men and masculinity. THATâS the red flag. Itâs just classic âwomen are inferior/men are the dominant sexâ rhetoric repackaged with crystals and closed practices thrown into the mix.
So I usually try to (personally) stay away from Divine (gendered term) stuff because most, if not all, the time, itâs a mask for bigotry.*
*disclaimer: youâre not a bigot if you use the terms Divine Masc/Fem, but please be aware of the attributes you/others attribute to the Divine Masc/Fem. If the Divine Masculine is things ONLY like âstrength, dominance, powerâ and the Divine Feminine is ONLY things like âfertility, gentleness, homemakingâ then please reevaluate why you think that and think about how it affects your view on women and trans people.
Earlier today, I fell into a ÂŤ Witchcraft Red Flags Âť rabbit hole. It felt for a second as if anything could be a red flag. It made me want to be even more secluded & stick to the practices I already know.
I mostly felt that way because one of red flags I saw was to refer to the Moon as feminine & the Sun as Masculine. Which I do daily. Now I'm very influencable & anxious so I had to think about this for a while.
In french, those two words are gendered that way. On top of this, I was introduced to witchcraft by wiccan content creators. I never really identified as a wiccan, but I used those beliefs & practices as inspiration to build my own, at the beginning of my journey. The Sun & the Moon are the two main entities I ÂŤ worship Âť. I believe they dictate a lot of what goes on all around our planet. I do use masculine pronous for the Sun, even thought I never attributed any type of humanoid form to him. I use feminine pronouns for the Moon because of her greek name ÂŤ Selene Âť which is female-sounding.
The other red flags I saw were wildly different. I think the message they were trying to spread is to be careful of how certain practices & opinions make you feel. Spirituality is very personal, but any personal journey is tinted with a lot of feelings. If you feel your practices work for you & are harmless to others, there's nothing wrong with that.
Sorry for the paragraph!
#all of this is a /info and a /nm#just wanted to add on to what op said#I totally get seeing red flags and getting anxious#I did that when someone said using the word magick was a dogwhistle for conspiracy theorists#which I get but also I like to differentiate between magic being fictional and magick being witchcraft ya know?#witch#witchcraft#witch stuff#pagan witch#witchy things#witchblr#paganblr#divine feminine#divine masculine

Hii so, Iâm new to online witch spaces. I wasnât aware there was any witch scams.
I might be a bit naive or have not ran across any luckily. But what are some ones to be wary of?
I apologize if this is a silly ask.
Hello! This is very much not a silly ask!! It's an important question to ask, and I'm glad that you have.
Yes, scams are everywhere. There have been scams in occult/spiritual circles since literally forever. Any space comprised of vulnerable, young, and hungry people is going to have people who want to take advantage. Online witch spaces are no different.
The big ones off the top of my head are:
People selling "witchy merch" like prints, bags, shirts, and other stuff like that using stolen art and AI-generated images
People selling crystals that are purposefully mislabeled as something they aren't, are made of glass/other material, or at an incredible mark-up for no reason (for example, "Lemurian Crystals" selling for hundreds of dollars on Etsy when they're nothing more than common quartz)
People selling same-day or even same-hour divinations -- when you think about it, isn't this kind of impossible? Check the volume of requests they get; if it's one or two people doing hundreds of these a week, either they're copy-pasting readings or they're using a GenAI to do the work for them. Either way, that's bullshit!
People selling spells which the buyer has no way of verifying -- think "energy work only" spells and the like; if the buyer gets no physical product in any way, and if they have no way of otherwise verifying the service has been done, how are they going to know it's legitimate? The answer is, they can't know, and the seller is banking on that fact
People setting up temporary shops that will disappear after selling a certain number of listings, not actually providing any services/products (or providing products that don't match their listings)
These are, I think, the big scam categories. A lot of them are easy to spot, with their copious typos and obvious AI images and buzzword-laden descriptions and reviews stuffed with fake five-star praises.
I would be wary of anyone whose entire online presence is dedicated to selling you something. I'd also be wary of people leaving information out of their listings, or who are obscuring what you're actually getting behind mystical language. And above all, be extremely wary of any shop you can't easily contact without running into chat bots. If you can't talk to a real person who's willing to answer your questions and address any concerns, they're either a scam or simply not worth your time.
When in doubt, get a second opinion. Ask someone else what they think about a listing or seller or shop. See if you can find someone who's actually gotten a service/product from that seller. Have someone else read the listing to see if they notice the same red flags.
And above all, don't let eagerness for results cloud your judgment. It's the number one thing these people prey on. They're banking on people to make impulsive, rash decisions, because it shields the seller's faulty practices from close examination.

We should expect resources to have updated with the passage of time. If metaphysical shops are still centering authors that were popular in the 90âs that we have now known for decades are beyond problematic, yes that is a red flag. Itâs also a red flag when it seems someone hasnât paid attention to changes over their lifetime in a way that allows them to be critical of their own practice. No book or author or creator is infallible. It is not the 90âs anymore, you donât have to act like the resources that were all that existed then are some pinnacle just because they were all you had growing up.
Question everything, and give yourself room to grow.
In fact, what is your favorite witchy book thatâs been published more recently? Perhaps self published, or from a lesser known publisher?

sometimes it becomes your duty to say you find mary katherine blackwood "deeply resonant" even if you dont relate to her to the furthest extent just in the mad hopes that people will think twice about how theyre discussing very common traits of mental illness. when someone describes murdering people as "acting on intrusive thoughts" i must throw myself under this bus to defend a fictional teenager
i will always Always enjoy a oooooohhhh scary horror story where child-as-devil kills their family. because parents deserve to die <3
#posts#there was also a lot of use of ''feminine/female energy'' and similar phrases while we were talking abotu the gender themes. hate that#i was intereted in talking abt the gender themes because i hadnt thought of that angle when i was reading#i was focused on the ''deeply fucked up people'' parts and interpersonal issue stuff#and i had to try incredibly hard to pick out parts of the gender discussion that i liked. the version of the book we read had an afterword#that was cool to read for the gender part#and i wish the students leading the discussion just. spoke about it differently. one million red flags#overall everything was fine tbh it was just little things that stood out and made me feel uncomfortable to speak#important to also say that it didnt affect my experience with the book the book rules. 4.5/5 absolutely great#< 5 stars is reserved for things that literally redefine my existence. genloss is the bar to meet for five stars#wait one mroe complaint i felt just short of distraught hearing people talk positively about mary's compulsions as a fun witchy thing#those moments Hurt to read i kept going ''ohh no. oh honey :(''

Witchy Red Flag #1: Itâs weird to name yourself after a deity.
Like, itâs one thing to be named like that by your parents, you didnât have any say in that matter. Thatâs not what Iâm ranting about today. Itâs a different thing entirely to choose your craft name/witch name to be that of a deity and itâs strange. Essentially youâre telling everyone else that you view yourself as being on the same level as sed deity. In my experience, Iâve only known people who do this to have insane god complexes and very fragile egos.
I can imagine that some deities also take this as an insult lmao. Iâm sure some of them think itâs cool too, but still ive never encountered someone who does this and isnât insufferable soooooâŚI canât imagine that there are many deities who like this.
Also examples like Aphrodite who will wreck people if they compare her to other women/deities exist like hello lmao
Now that Iâm back on this blog, letâs celebrate by pissing some people off đ I plan on making this âwitchy red flagsâ a series of sorts, so buckle up.
did yâall miss me? đ

Almost four hundred years
Pairing: Agatha Harkness x sister reader
Genre: fluff
Words: 900
Note: So I usually don't introduce new characters on a whim but I've been so obsessed I literally jumped out of the shower for this, so I just had to write it right away even when it's not that good. And to my possibly new Marvel/witchy/Agatha fans who haven't seen me before, hi, I hope you like this and please check out my blog for more very demure, very cutesy and most of all very lesbian fanfictions I write.
When you got on the Witchâs road, you didnât know exactly what you expected to get out of it. You werenât hungry for power, you were doing alright for yourself and there were seemingly no problems to be fixed or mysteries to be answered in your case. But the thought of belonging somewhere some time again was taunting, almost mocking you. You knew building an actual lasting coven with Agatha by your side was impossible, but still you hoped to have something that at least reminded of home.
As you left todayâs trial behind and healed the teenâs wounds, you set up a campfire gathering around, using whatever was available to sit on. In your opinion, the ground covered in leaves was good enough. The kid was resting and Agatha was nowhere to be found, which gave room for an actual friendly conversation with the rest of the witches. One by one they shared stories and funny encounters, keeping the mood up, and you quite enjoyed their quirky company.
âY/n, whatâs your problem with the kid?â Lilia asked suddenly, all of them noticing you werenât exactly fond of his chirpy personality. âWhy are you so cold to him?â
âNonsense, Iâm great with children,â you emphasized, slightly offended.
âCome on now,â Jen forced with an amused smile.
âWell first of all, heâs unhealthily obsessed with Agatha and that in itself is a red flag if you ask me,â you shrugged. âAnd anyone who likes her this much just doesnât know her enough.â
âWell for how long have you known her?â Alice reiterated.
âAlmost four hundred years,â you admitted with a bit of shyness.
âHow come?â asked Teen joining you at the fire without you noticing. âWhatâs your problem with her anyway. People change, sheâs not the same witch she was in Salem.â
âNot this much, no. She killed my mom⌠my family, my coven, everyone I knew at the time,â even after all this time it was hard admitting everything that happened, partly because you blamed yourself for at least half of it. âAnd unfortunately, sheâs my sister.â
âWait so youâre⌠Y/n Harkness?â Alice questioned.
âYeah,â sometimes that name scared even you yourself. âAnd believe me there isnât a day I didnât wish I was there back then to stop her. But at the same time⌠sheâs my sister, you know? And she wasnât always bad⌠she was a good witch, corrupted by her powers too young,â you turned to Teen. âItâs like having an emo kid, you think itâs just a phase and fun and the next day theyâre smoking pot and running around at 1 a.m. playing Batman.â
âYou think dark magic is just a phase?â Jen laughs.
âWell who hasnât ever tried a bit of it, right?â you brush it off with a guilty smile.
âWow youâre acting like Iâm the only one wicked here. I clearly remember you set your ex-boyfriendâs car on fire⌠with him in it,â Agatha snaps back as she joins your circle.
âHey, that was your idea! And I was only a 100, you led me to it,â at your response she snorts and gets up again to rather get a walk.
With a sigh you get up off the ground to follow her this time, which wasnât any hard of a task. Your relationship with Agatha was complicated at the very least, but to you, she was still the only family you had left, even if it was her fault. Gently brushing her clearly tired shoulder she refuses to look at you.
âAgatha⌠I know I havenât always been the nicest to you, but youâre my family, I love you. And I want you to know I will always stand by your side, even if I donât agree with you,â after all you would be a little lost in this world without her.
Giving into your comforting words she turns around embracing you in a tight hug. It was hard being mad at you, after all she was the one who always caused the problems in your relationship. No matter how much you wanted to talk sense into her, she was always selfish and short sighted. As she hugged you, she felt herself finally catching the first break in at least the last five years. You could feel all the trauma and exhaustion from the past few days getting just the littlest bit lighter when you shared it together.
âI miss him so much,â she admitted into your shoulder.
âI know. I miss him too,â you assure her, her lost son clearly being a constant on her mind lately.
âI donât know if I can save him,â Agatha whispered with vulnerability you didnât see often.
You thought of something comforting to say. âI know you will try everything you can to get him back,â you kissed her cheek lightly.
Holding onto her, you didnât feel completely lost in the wide world, and you realized no matter how bad she screwed up, youâll always be her light, just like she was your torch, hurtful when held too close for too long but helpful, warm and comforting at the same time. You didnât know if there was any chance her son was still somewhere at least a little alive, but you knew that if there was one parent in the world who would move mountains and rivers to find their child, it was Agatha.

Genuine Red Flags in Spiritual Books, Grimoires, Occult Teachers or Mentors
Very often I see folks talking about things they consider to be red flags for beginners when entering witchy or occult spaces. Here are a few of the things that Iâve noticed over the years that will immediately make me put down a book or step away from a practitioner.
1. Claiming they know every thing about every sect of spirituality / occultism or witchcraft
Simply put, there is no one person who knows the deep inner workings of every craft, of every philosophy, of every practice. The guru that claims to know everything from Reiki to Jewish Mysticism to Native American Spirituality to Voodoo to Acupuncture to Chakra Healing, Tarot, Herb Wizardy, Alchemy, etc etc etc. No. They are lying. Even the most dedicated and wise practitioners devote years into understanding a philosophy or spiritual practice. And especially in regards to closed practices, it is impossible for one person to have read and done it all. Either they are straight up lying or presenting brief skimming over texts or conversation as âyears of experience and practiceâ. No.
2. Constantly trying to convince the reader that they are a God, deity or some inhuman creature like a cosmic elf, mermaid, or angel
Now I donât mean to confuse this with the idea that some Luciferian or Satanic spaces may adopt that all humans are gods in their own right, or you are the god of your own existence. Iâm talking specifically about books that try to convince you that youâre actually a lost race of alien who has been trapped in a human body, or has been mistaken into believing they are human. Iâm not going to get into my opinions on star seeds or deity ancestry, what I will say is that very often, and I mean uncomfortably often, these ideas are intrinsically tied to supremacist or xenophobic rhetoric You do not have to be an angel to be special and cosmically significant. You donât have to be an elf to explore herbal magic, people who push these ideas are very frequently praying on those with delusions of grandeur or other dissociative mental disorders and thatâs not cool.
3. Using pseudoscience to push miracle remedies. This includes denying things that are provable to push a narrative, like the fact medication can help the mentally ill.
My dears, please fact check what you read. Please see what educated people have to say about these authors before you take everything they say at face value. As many problems and rightful distrust as there is in the medical industry, usually, if a concoction is commonly dismissed by 99% of medical professionals, itâs usually not because theyâre trying to cover up the holy grail, itâs because they know itâs⌠probably not that good for you or simply doesnât do what it claims.
4. Trying to convince the reader that with enough practice, willpower, and a donation of $9.99 per month, you too can obtain some incredible power that will allow you to airbend, waterbend, firebend, and basically defy all the laws of physics in general!
The point of most occultism, spirituality and witchcraft is not to defy the laws of physics or to obtain some godly power. There most certainly exists the belief in many sects of spirituality that one can influence their reality through training, but I promise you, anybody that is promoting that they can walk on water is trying to make a fool out of you
5. Inability to disagree, contest, or dissent from the opinions of the mentor, teacher, high priest(ess) or leader
This is how cults form, guys. Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug. If the presentation of different ideas or even questions are met with harsh backlash and censorship, you need to get the fuck out of there.
6. Them automatically making the assumption within a very short time of meeting you, usually presented as psychic intuition, that you are suffering and have a âdeep sadnessâ or energy blockage in your soul that only they can fix.
I understand that damaged people often seek mediums and whatnot for help, and sometimes it genuinely brings them ease, thatâs fine and good. But so often I have been approached by people online that claim that âthe angels have a really important message for me that they can only give after theyâve received an epayment of just a few dollarsâ. These are obviously scams, but often people who have been trusted for a reading or service in the past will fabricate these stories to trap a costumer in a loop of service. Some of these claims may be genuine but I guarantee you most are not.
7. Sprinkles of Fascism
No you are not superior to other people because youâre spiritually âenlightenedâ. No you should not separate groups of people or decide who should and shouldnât procreate. No mainstream society is not being being deceived by the devil, and the devil is not more prevalent in any one group of people, sex, sexuality, gender, or race. You are not the only enlightened one in a world full of lost people. Mentally ill folks are not demons and trans people arenât energetically unaligned. You will not inherit the Earth while everyone else dies. Uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shut the fuck up.
8. The claim that ancient societies of people were aliens. Presenting hoaxes and proven scams as evidence of a conspiracy.
This includes things like using documented hoaxes as evidence that aliens built the pyramids. Iâm going to be so for real with you guys rn. This is just racism. Itâs insane to think the Egyptians were smart enough to build the society they literally lived in, but nobody doubts the validity of the Roman Empire. Crazy concept but maybe Indigenous people of color arenât savage idiots. And maybe white people arenât the only ones capable of having societies and interesting architecture. The thing about this that annoys me the most is that⌠Egyptians still exist today, and the ancestry that dates back to ancient Mesopotamia and Canaan still exist today too. These were human beings, just like us. The alienation of black and brown people proves how little some people see us as normal people.
9. The promotion of practices that are directly harmful. Self mutilation, disorderly eating, or rituals that can induce psychosis or states of mania.
Guess what you actually donât have to sit on a mountain naked and eat nothing but sunlight to be enlightened. You can definitely do religious or devotional things like fasting within a healthy degree, but I so so often see people promoting things that will very obviously lead to mania and hallucinations just by design. Starving yourself for two weeks while constantly blasting mantras and doing a bunch of psychedelics isnât enlightenment⌠itâs a manic episode. While some devotees may feel comfortable offering blood to deities, this should always be in very small ways, a needle poke, not self mutilation.
10. Trying to do business with minors or promote occult topics to children specifically
Just no. I really dislike the idea of selling spells or promoting deity communication to kids still in grade school. Theyâre trying to manipulate a young mind into believing their dogma or spending their parentâs money. If a parent wants to share their craft with their child, thatâs cool, but people who specifically target a younger audience are suspect to me. This isnât to say spirituality isnât for kids, itâs just that content that is created for kids is often created to be surface level and profitable in the algorithm.
11. Shitting on New Age Spirituality
Yeah I said it. This to me feels very much like a letâs hate on anything women, especially young women enjoy. Letâs delegitimize their experiences and paint them all as ditzy girls just clanging their crystals together.
There are some things that New Age Spiritualists do that Iâm not a fan of, all of the things in this list. However, that doesnât make this form of spirituality and witchcraft any less legitimate just because itâs somewhat trendy right now. Go fucking howl at the moon and have bon fires with your besties while you do tarot and talk about angel numbers, I donât give a fuck.
New Age spiritualists arenât inherently doing anything wrong or different than what ancient cultures have been doing for centuries, itâs just trendy and profitable now. But anything that young women enjoy will inevitably be exploited by the capitalist machine and that is not their fault. Wicca is still a legitimate form of spirituality and witches are not inherently doing anything wrong by being young women. So much of the criticism against NAS is literally just misogyny.
âIâm not into new age spirituality Iâm a REAL witchâ
omg please shut up

Possessive Agatha - WIP Wednesday
Agatha Harkness x Reader
Authors note: here is a sneak peek of the possessive/jealous Agatha one shot :) The breeding kink one will be out tonight my time (15 hours ish)
Tags: possessive and jealous Agatha, red flags abound but reader is into it (more apparent in full fic), Agatha lowkey (highkey) traps you in the house
Itâs hard to concentrate with her scent surrounding you but itâs something you have to contend with every time youâre around her. You have enough practice to still complete your goal, just not without thinking about her every second.
Since Agatha has yet to bind you to the bed, you think youâre were consequence, for now, until you reach the door. The handle turns but the door doesnât open. You try to flick the lock but it doesnât move. Frowning, you try to tug it free but itâs too small to get a good grip. It jiggles a little but remains stuck. Itâs weird and annoying but nothing Agatha canât fixâŚlater. Itâs not the best idea to go down to her lair while you still want to leave.
The thought had crossed your mind but you hadnât genuinely believed it until the back door does the same thing. She really has locked you in. You prefer it when she throws you into bed. Huffing, you wonder if it would be too crazy to go out the window. It feels too crazy, and a bit silly. You arenât a teenager anymore and this is technically also your house.
Instead of creeping out of a window, you creep down the stairs to her basement. While the house may equally be each otherâs, Agathaâs lair is entirely her own.
Sheâs standing at one of her benches, going between a book and some vaguely-witchy item in her hand.
âYou locked the door.â
âDid I?â Agatha asks neutrally, not bothering to look up from what she is working on.
âYes. If you didnât youâll have no problem forcing it open.â
âIâm very busy, dear.â
âItâs very convenient for both doors to be stuck on the night you donât want me to go out.â
Agatha finally turns around. âCareful,â she says in a low voice.
You swallow hard. Itâs not a smart idea to push her but youâre annoyed enough to do it anyway.
âI guess Iâll just go out the window,â you jut your chin out.
Her eyes darken but she doesnât move. You know sheâs waiting to see if you actually try or if youâre all talk. It pisses you off enough to turn around. You get two steps before your arms are jerked behind your back and purple lifts you off the ground.
