Some people have long essays for why Viktor will s2's main antagonist. Meanwhile I think Viktor will be a main antagonistic because he's got some of the worst traits of a tech bro. Iykyk.

been thinking about the orym and zeru conversation from 105 and sitting in a puddle of angsty thoughts about the uncertain future because orym saying "your son saved my life a day ago" and zeru saying "maybe you'll get the chance to return the favor" and orym saying "your son has already carved a very impressive verse in the pages of history and if my friends and i have anything to do with it he'll pen many more" and thinking ALLLLL the way back to the beginning of the campaign when dorian said "no debts between us" and how that could be taken one of two ways and remain true
something something fathers and sons and the inevitable dance of fate and pride and loss something something

What makes a rock a rock and not a crystal?
Ok SO
A mineral is a naturally occurring non-organic solid with a defined chemical composition and an orderly molecular structure. This means the molecules throughout the entire structure will be exactly the same, and be arranged in a symmetrical, geometric, repeating pattern called a crystal lattice.
Quartz is a mineral. Its chemical formula is silicon dioxide, and its crystal lattice forms a repeating tetrahedron.
Ice is also a mineral. Its chemical formula is dihydrogen monoxide, and its crystal lattice forms a repeating hexagon.
Obsidian is not a mineral. It is a mineraloid, a mineral-like substance. Its chemical composition can vary wildly, and instead of a crystal lattice, its molecules are jumbled up in an amorphous solid, meaning there’s no nice repeating pattern to them.
A crystal is any solid material with a crystal lattice.
All minerals, by definition, have a crystal lattice. So all minerals are crystals! Some things that are NOT minerals are also crystals!
Sugar is a crystal. It has a crystal lattice made from molecules of sucrose. But it is not a mineral because it is organic.
Often, these repeating geometric patterns in the crystal lattice cause the substance to naturally form big geometric structures with distinct faces - such as the points formed by quartz. These larger structures are colloquially also called crystals, and their shape (called a crystal habit) is determined by the shape of the crystal lattice. The same crystal lattice can produce multiple different crystal habits, and it’s all very cool and complicated but I won’t go off on a tangent about it right now.
A substance does not have to form big structures like this to be scientifically considered a crystal. It just needs a crystal lattice!
A rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids. It can be made of a single mineral, or a bunch of different minerals. But when made from a single mineral, it will not be one solid block of that mineral with an unbroken crystal lattice. Because it is an aggregate, it will be a bunch of micro- to macroscopic grains of that mineral all compacted together, each with their own individual crystal lattices.
Granite is a rock. It is made of grains of minerals such as quartz and feldspar.
Limestone is a rock. It is mostly made of grains of calcite.
So rocks can be made of crystals, but rocks are not crystals - in the same way that a house can be made of bricks, but a house is not a brick!
And this is just a very quick overview of these terms, because the scientific definitions can get increasingly pedantic and there are tons of weird exceptions! It is all very fascinating.
But of course, the word rock also has a colloquial definition, which is just… a chunk of that hard stuff the planet is made of! A mineral, a crystal, a fossil or a bio-organic solid… whatever! This is a rock collection and these are my rocks!

After awhile of being around people into metaphysical, occult type stuff, you develop a sense for who's just... kinda full of bullshit.
There's always people proclaiming imminent apocalypses or world upheavals. They can't fathom that they could possibly be wrong; or if they suspect, you'd definitely never know it from the way they talk. They're always wrong.
There's always people who claim they're from a special magical bloodline and have a special connection to a major deity. They're always threatening curses and divine punishment from their deity any time someone pisses them off.
There's also the ones who claim their family line has been practicing magic since pre-Christian times. They refer to their practice by the vague and culturally nonspecific term "the Craft," and their narrative is very clearly inspired by Margaret Murray's debunked witch cult hypothesis. They tend to believe in and push a lot of conspiracy theories.
There's always people who claim they were scratched up by a demon. Some of them even have photos. When they post photos, the scratches are at most shallow abrasions or obviously inflicted by a cat or other small animal.
And then there's the ones who claim they can transform into mermaids. No, they can't send you photos. If they did, the mermaid hunters would come after them. Never mind the danger they're putting themselves into by merely telling you about this at all.
There's the ones who claim they're warriors in a cosmic battle between good and evil. They claim to know Michael and Lucifer personally, and they'll tell you how the Bible and the Church are full of lies, and/or rage about other people spreading "lies."
If you look closely, a certain element of tragedy usually makes itself apparent. Something is terribly wrong in their lives. It could be incredible boredom, social alienation, stress, unresolved traumas, untreated mental illness, poor coping skills, poor social skills, or general personal unfulfillment.
Make no mistake, many of them are potentially extremely dangerous. If they find someone they can harass or convince into their beliefs, they can do some serious damage. And when they do, they seriously need to be held accountable.
But the fact that there are so many people like this speaks to so many systemic failures. These people wouldn't be like this if something hadn't gone incredibly wrong in their lives somewhere, and if they had been able - physically, monetarily, and psychologically - to get the help they needed, they could have been able to heal and find better ways to meet their emotional and psychological needs, and done a lot less damage to other people.

Witchy red flag #2: Practitioners who prescribe crystals for health issues.
Now I’m not saying that rose quartz can’t help your anxiety, but what I am saying is DO NOT carry a rock around instead of taking your meds. DO NOT tell people that xyz rock can help with diabetes.
These are real things I have seen being spread around in this community.
Like hello???
Also, this is a lowkey call out post for “The Good Witch’s Guide” by Charity Bedell & Shawn Robbins. There are sections in this book that are guilty of this very issue, with no disclaimer to be found. Obvi, it’s kind of an unspoken rule that when it comes to witchy books, you gotta use discernment level 100. But it’s also exhausting that it needs to be this way. These people shouldn’t be allowed to just put “yeah cuddle this quartz to get rid of your heart disease” without THOROUGH disclaimers present.
All this being screamed said, I am a crystal witch 💀 I love those shiny bastards, and I use them regularly in my life and in my practice. But I also understand that they cannot perform miracles.
I sincerely hope that anyone who has been victimized by this weird concept wins their lawsuit against those authors 😀
That’s all for today, folks. Bitchcraft, out ✌️

The captains overhear Jack on the com with Lorena in the next room before the meeting.
Jack: Yes, I'll be home as soon as the meeting is over. Of course, I'm bringing marshmallows for the campfire. What do you take me for?
Yami: Is Jack on a call?
Charlotte: It appears so.
Nozel: Must he be so loud? How uncouth.
Jack: Don't worry, I'll bring a second bag for us to share while the girls can have the other. Yes. Okay. Love you too, Shnookums.
Charlotte: (looking surprised and disgusted)
Yami: (takes cig out of his mouth to lock eyes with Charlotte and mouthing) "Shnookums"?
Charlotte: (blushes) I don't know, he's a stupid man!
Nozel: How unprofessional. 😑💢
Yami: You're just jealous. You don't have a "shnookums", bird boy.

I think— I've just been thinking a lot lately about Radiant Black characters and queer-coding and subtext as I re-read and continue to read—
There is this fact that when we first meet Red it is in this idealized masculine form, and yes ostensibly we can say this is to prevent her true identity from being discovered (lol. lmao.) but we can also look at Satomi and note that her being is run through with emotion and I don't mean this in a "oh, girls and their feelings" way (god) but everything she does is steeped in anger and despite her conflict and like, uncertainty and trying to make the right decision and to fix everything, she still acts very impulsively, driven by her heart rather than her brain, in the same way that Marshall is an "act first, think never" kind of character—and her impulse is immediately a larger than life, muscular, very masculine form, and yes this hides her identity but then also—
Then also, again, we have the panels in Radiant Red where she is framed by chains, as just Satomi in the costume. And this is of course partly that she is shackled by her life; by her marriage/betrothal, by her expectations as a woman and a teacher, as a good Japanese daughter who can barely speak Japanese and never went to Japan despite all her talk. And also that she is shackled by her own powers, that where they make her feel, well, powerful, she is also uncertain (has always been uncertain) and feels trapped in the role that she has given herself through the use of her powers—but again. This is a politely punk woman who cannot cut her hair in weird styles or wear piercings anymore, who must always be the thoughtful one, who must always be the good woman, who insists she will go to grad school and who still hasn't—who was "never going to do it!"—whose alter-ego began masculine and who even after dropping that alter-ego initially continues to be masculine in its power-ups and armored forms, even as Satomi is surrounded by chains, thinking of an alternate future where she shaves half of her head, which cannot be.
And I have been thinking also about Marshall whose entire interiority is a tangled mess of codependence that hinges upon his male childhood best friend—on the fact that he is jealous of Nathan, wants to be like—wants to be Nathan—that he feels Nathan's judgment at all times, that he hates Nathan but no, he doesn't hate him. He loves him. And he says it over and over again. I love him, I love you. Of course Nathan says, "I love you too," but there is a different weight to it in Marshall's inner universe that is not reflected there, necessarily. Not entirely in the same way, at least.
And when JJ shows up, he's sarcastic and catty. And it's obvious. And when she comes over at the bar, and Nathan is happy to see her, Marshall's entire demeanor changes, an immediate depression. And he went to Nathan's hospital room every. single. day. But when he snapped and disappeared and people thought he killed himself, not a single person was relieved to see he was alive, they all just thought he was a worthless asshole just like always. The wastoid, irresponsible, selfish. God forbid he snap under the weight of his entire universe being potentially destroyed. And none of them do seem to get that. I mean, if Nathan had not been brought back (if the timeline remained as it was meant to be?) — We saw him, you know? He was dream-hallucinating Nathan's ghost, presumably via the traces in <existence>, and crucially he was also wasted on the floor with his dog. I mean, they thought he must have killed himself because, presumably, if all of that had failed and he hadn't been able to face truth in existence, he would have.
Of course Nathan understands to some extent, because he knows the truth, to some extent, but still always has this metaphorical arm up to put this distance between them even when they are essentially sharing existence together by copiloting (and breaking) this radiant. And there's still this kind of constant denial of truth after Marshall brings him back, this friction between them. Barriers and boundaries from one (Nathan) that the other (Marshall) cannot entirely tolerate, (though Nathan's ability to establish boundaries is (as we see when he goes to LA a second time) is important to his maturity as a person and as a writer, but that is admittedly kind of a separate topic lol)
And I just think.
God.
The gender-bending is not nothingness, and Marshall is not just a loser. Existence is a mirror and that extends to the Radiants of course. Satomi's mirror is a man, and Marshall's truth culminates in "I love him."
What that ends up meaning in the future (if anything), I don't know, but I do think it's something (technically two things, I guess) that I want to acknowledge even if they fade away into spacetime as nothing more than aesthetic and drama, or whatever else, you know? Is it Canon, is it Lore, is it the Real Truth? Well I don't know about any of that but I know that to me as the reader I think it's legit lol and that's worth acknowledgment of some kind, as with any other textual analysis that might pop up over time

people be saying how perfect Kurosawa is but may I just remind you of his worryingly obsessive streak (CONTAINS SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA):
exhibit A: his thoughts are occupied with everything Adachi 99.9% of the time. the only time we see him not thinking of his crush-now-SO is when he loses earphones.
exhibit B: he has a freaking Adachi fund, are you kidding me?
exhibit C: he buys Adachi-related stuff with said fund even before they started dating.
exhibit D: he has literal boxes of said Adachi-related stuff he bought with his Adachi fund.
exhibit E: he's possessive af he is the personification of the "You know other men?" meme.
only Adachi is mad enough to choose to be with him. only Adachi is mad enough to bask in Kurosawa's obsession and petty jealousies and cringe fantasies. they are both freaks in a magic realism show parading itself as a wholesome slice-of-life bl. and of course we love that dynamic.

pmmm rewatch live notes: ep 12
the finale!! does this episode make me cry? yes! did i successfully hide it from my friends i was showing it to? uh, maybe!
Madoka hugs homura and reassures her that even though she is choosing to become a magical girl anyways homura’s actions weren’t for nothing
She is thankful that homura tried to save her so many times bc it is only bc of that that she is strong enough to make the wish she did and save everyone
Madoka’s speech about how she wants to make each magical girl happy and smiling to the very end literally gave me chills i am so close to tears rn
The scene of madoka talking to mami and kyoko about her wish are sooooo silly and also only possible because her wish makes time a non-factor
Kyoko hits the nail on the head by saying that since madoka found something on her own with no pushing or influence from someone else it’s ok for her to give her life for it bc it is is a choice that is wholly and fully HERS
Madoka doesn’t erase the despair the other magical girls fate, she takes it onto herself we can see it in the comet/soul gem thing that is headed for earth
Literally what if i screamed
But since she erased all witches even her own she won’t hurt others even while she carries that despair
And knowing she saved others is enough to keep her from falling into complete despair
Homura is full of despair and grief over madoka’s loneliness that comes from her wish but madoka takes the hopeful outlook that she is less alone than ever bc she is with everyone always
The way madoka only truly understands how much homura has done for her once they can’t live together anymore
It's so tragic
Madoka telling homura that it’s too soon to give up on homura being able to remember her like girl you are so hope
Madoka giving her ribbon to homura AAAAAAAAAAA
“Lets believe”
Blue lighting in the city before we get the scene w kyosuke performing and madoka and sayaka in the audience
The seats in the theater are red and so are the curtains
Which is typical but also what if i made this a kyoko x sayaka moment just for me
Yellow lighting as madoka’s mom and homura talk in the changed timeline without madoka
Madoka’s mom is purple (hair and eyes)
Homura having a bow weapon at the end literally gives me chills wtf
All the chairs throughout the series are madoka and the other magical girls watching them and staying with them
Bc they’re never alone
