Anyway I love @ibbywondrous ‘s Speeder Parker AU so uh. Time to bugify my favorite Spider-Man antagonist.
I was really stuck on what sort of bug to make Will o’ the Wisp because with the glowing a fire fly seems obvious, but Electro already has that covered. Then I thought about going with more of the ghost/fairy angle and remembered my beloved woolly aphids.
Power wise I’m not sure whether to keep his whole “control his own molecules and is therefore entirely out of Spider-Man’s weight class” angle or focus on the fact woolly aphids spread a number of fungi, most notably blackening leaves with sooty mold, and have his bizarre appearance be due to him being something of a hazard to breathe next to. Being covered in mind controlling fungi would be as good an explanation as any for how he can already do that in the comics.

When I Saw a Ghost Light
by Elowen Baudelaire
If you’re going to ask me, I don’t even know what’s happening to me anymore. Everyday, I felt like standing in the middle of the ocean, waiting for the waves to swallow me until my entire existence vanished.
Time slowly ate my soul as the color in my surroundings seemed to fade, unfortunately. Lately, I always found myself staring at something and would end up lost in thoughts looking for an escape from the curses coming out of their mouths. Frustrating yes, but there was nothing I could do. I had to remain strong, or rather appear strong, but I’m getting tired of it to be honest.
“Why do you always complain, Faelia? I thought you’re able to keep up on your studies at this moment since your previous school gave you heavy workloads as well, and almost everyday!”
That’s what my mom used to say whenever I try to give her a glimpse of my fragile self. It’s either that, or the fact that she was able to do studies while taking care of me.
Although I understood and appreciated that, I also wanted to tell her that things sometimes work differently to others.
That was the sole reason why I chose to remain silent most of the time. Whenever I attempt to voice out my exhaustion, both my parents would find another banter and discredit the heavy burden that was drowning me.
I even thought that one day, I would rather be a lost soul than a girl they wished they had. I kept on blaming myself why I couldn’t do such a thing even though it seemed very easy.
“The real world is going to welcome you once you finish college. You better stop ranting about such matters!”
I already knew that, thank you. No need to remind me.
But why couldn’t they understand that my body was starting to feel numb. Not just my body, but the soul within me as well.
Run, Faelia. RUN!
“Faelia? Where are you going? FAELIA, COME BACK!”
What came to me after that, I don’t know. All I knew was that I didn’t want to turn my head despite her screams, begging me to come back. My mind kept on whispering that I needed to get out of that house.
I don’t care if the thunder were becoming more furious than it had ever been. I don’t care if the cold rain pouring on me will soon give me a disease as long as I get away from that place, and maybe not for a while only.
Running away from home in such weather in the evening eventually led me to a forest. There weren’t any lights present, and the tall trees that were astonishing by sunshine appeared like giant shadows who were going to drag me to darkness. I had no thoughts about what brought me here, not until a small, floating light appeared inside the forest.
I gasped upon the realization that the light was not an ordinary being. I heard stories about them before, the will-o’-the-wisps or the little ghost lights who lure travelers from the right way. They said that if you follow such a creature, there are no chances for you to get back.
But why am I drawn to it? I hadn’t even noticed that I already entered the forest and was on the verge of touching the ghost light. It started to move further in the forest, as if telling me to follow it.
Yes, I’m scared because the creature might take me to some place I don’t know. But, this was what I’m asking before, wasn't it? Maybe this little one would give me help rather than the danger it always held.
The End.

My entry for @catmask 's and @frogcroaks ' contest, Monster Mayhem!
I chose the theme Wisteria Will-O-Wisp for flower symbolism and will-o'-the-wisp folklore. Also because of the color purple ← My favourite color 💜
Thank you for hosting this contest where I can try out monster designing and good luck to the other participants. Peace and love on planet Earth!
