In folklore, a will-o'-the-wisp, will-o'-wisp, or ignis fatuus is an atmospheric ghost light seen by travellers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes.... In folklore, will-o'-the-wisps are typically attributed as ghosts, fairies or elemental spirits meant to reveal a path or direction. These wisps are portrayed as dancing or flowing in a static form, until noticed or followed, in which case they visually fade or disappear.

On the left, the Will o' Wisp! These floating glowing balls of sponge like to hang out in forests and bogs and lure travellers into danger! Yeah the skull thing is just a pattern for fear factor, and they can change thier color too, because even monsters have integrated RGB lighting now. They feed off fear, and the different types have different flavors so they have preferences for what type of danger to put you in. They can also zap people and turn off the glow if desired.
On the right, this eldritch fungal nightmare is called the Mu Spore. 100 ft (30.5 m) from tentacle tip to tentacle tip...minimum. Usually bigger. They're flying apocalypses, raining down spores to weaken you and sucking people up in giant whirlwinds like Kirby. Really quick with grabbing people too. That said, they're incredibly intelligent and speak 4 languages, so sometimes people are able to make peaceful contact and learn valuable and strange information while collecting fresh spores. Shoot your shot, after all if you're alone you're barely worth digesting anyway to a creature that size.

Picture yourself, a forest path.
There is a party that you must attend, and all that stands between it and you is the wood.
The road is long and winding, enwreathed by the jagged claws of trees. The air is cold. Dark.
You are alone here, as far as you know. And perhaps all that you feel you must do is to reach the other end. That as soon as you breach that treeline, you will step out into the plains and you will find the temple and find safety, comfort, and warmth. Light.
For the moment though, you are here.
Trudging along, step by step, down this path into the dark unknown. Trees wheeze in the distance. A low, cold, fog hangs in the air. It creeps inward from the boundaries of your vision, covering you piece-meal, winding itself around your limbs and embracing them. Feel its frigid grasp. The chill that it shoots up your spine from the core of your being, shivering like insects crawling up your back. Let it steal your breath for a few… brief… moments. The air is tense.
This is a place far older than you. A place where you do not belong.
You know not where you are, nor where you are going, but that you must reach the end. You must follow the light.
And with each passing second, the path seems to shift. The road grows narrower. The path, darker. The tree limbs hook at your clothes and gently pull upon them. The earth under your feet goes from stone, to dirt, and now, to mud. It squelches underneath you, slicking the soles of your shoes with black ichor. And the cold, it too envelops you. It is biting. Nipping at you like exposed fingers or ears in the snow. And the fog grows denser, more opaque. Where it once lovingly embraced you, now it has become like a shroud. You wear it like a cloak, or perhaps it wears you?
You hear sounds in the forest around you. The cracking of branches. The cries of birds. Chittering. Whispers. Wails. Howls. Merriment of the dwellers here. For there is a lamb lost in their den of wolves. There is a child in the presence of the grand and terrible design of the earth.
And up ahead, you finally see it. Light. Glittering daintily, floating and swirling like a little flame circling the darkness. It pierces through the fog. You narrow your eyes upon it to a dagger’s point. This must be the way. You must follow the light.
The light is all you can see now. The forest is blanketed in a haze of indistinct nothingness. There is nothing to focus upon but the path, and you follow it dutifully. Nothing else matters but that light, the safety of knowing that you will reach the treeline. Surely you will, won’t you? You must follow the light. You know it. You repeat the words in your mind. Even as the mud gives way to tree-roots, to swamp water and vines, you press onward. Eutrophia and algae envelop you up to your knees. It sloshes about as you move. Each step seems to give you resistance, like pushing back against a force stronger than yourself. You must follow the light. You must.
By now the cacophony of the sounds of the swamp have morphed into indistinct words. You hear laughter, mirth. The chill that had run up your spine becomes a warmth in the pit of your stomach. It is dull and beautiful, radiating outward from your core to the rest of your body. You feel almost welcomed in this place. As though this is where you were meant to be.You feel it reach out to you. Holding you. Grasping at your limbs. The light is here. You are embraced in its warmth. You wish to spread your limbs and lie back. To let the worms and the frogs and the waters take you. And you do. Feel the resistance in your body just melt away. Let yourself go limp and let my embrace take you.
You have made it to the party. The lights are on in the temple.
You are clad in your dressing wear and your flower crown. You bear a smile on your face. This is good. You are welcome. You are in a place where you really wanted to be all along.
Trust that the water, that the trees and the mud will keep you safe. Trust in the light. Trust in me.
And let yourself.
Sink.
Beneath.
The Water.

Happy Halloween! :D a Halloween Town Ienzo for your viewing pleasure!
I was able to do art for the first time in years recently, and I absolutely WENT OFF! The muses put me in a headlock and didn't let me go until they were satisfied, so this boi got done just in time for Halloween!
The amount of detail i put into this guy is INSANE! But the glazing and light filters messed up the small details that were only really visible anyway at 800% zoom, so i'll be including those under the cut.
Embroidery
Almost every embroidered symbol is unique, only mirrored on the other side of the coat. From top to bottom: the Nobody symbol, the Heartless symbol, a symbol found in the old mansion in Traverse down combining the fleur-de-lis heart and a crown, the symbol of Ansem the Wise, the Kingdom Hearts symbol, a stylized rose, an eight pointed star, the player pin from The World Ends With you and the one from the sequel, a symbol found in Scala ad Caelum, a rounded star, a book, scales of justice, a beaker, Sephiroth's symbol with the wing inside the meteor, Shinra's logo, the buster sword from Final Fantasy 7, a chocobo, a cactuar, a moogle, fleur-de-lis, Red XIII, the Unversed symbol, Nobody symbol, Heartless symbol, Kingdom Hearts symbol, Roxas’ symbol, Eraqus’ symbol, numbers 1-14 in roman numerals.
The general mirroring stops here, and the symbols on the right are: a sun, moon, pentacle, meteor, hidden Mickey/lucky emblem, demon and angel wings on a heartless symbol representing Riku, sea salt ice cream and a thalassa shell for Xion, and Roxas’ symbol and a cut-off Oathkeeper keyblade.
On the inside of the coat’s embroidery are funny easter eggs to fill out the space because I ran out of ideas, from right to left: Sans, Loss.jpg, Amogus, Anarchy symbol, the cool S, the symbol for pi, Bill Cipher, Kirby, Ali from “Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun”, Elmo, a rat, a bat, the Palestinian flag and a watermelon (free Palestine!), two band-aids, the Pokémon type symbols for ghost psychic and dark-types, and the Genshin Impact element icons in order as they appear on the loading screen.
The text inside the Lexicon reads…
Page 1:
Once upon a time, a young boy became a prince. However, this story is not a fairytale…
This is a tragedy.
[This is the story of] Radiant Garden, and the [events that led to its] fall. It all began with [a man with amnesia, and a] series of experiments [by the apprentices of Ansem the Wise,] students of the Heart. [The amnesiac man, only remembering his name was Xehanort, was taken in by] Master Ansem.
… it is unclear when … point of no return.
Page 2: Little Ienzo rarely spoke, but [that certainly didn’t mean he] didn’t understand. The edge of the book reads: see every atrocity, hear every rumor, never shut up.
The rest is illegible.
Page 3: … Heartless because Xehanort had… body…
Page 4: Ignis Fatuus: fool’s fire, will-o-wisp. … illusion, delusion.
There is also text on all of the floating pages!
First floating page:
Design (and art) By: Little Robin Hood 1 Halloween Town Ienzo Wizard/Blue Mage + Will-O-Wisp Fanart encouraged, but please credit [the design]! I have lost so much sleep over this boi… Record: 22 hours awake TToTT
Second floating page:
I hereby relinquish my heart to Xehanort. In order to [successfully] achieve the goals of Organization XIII, I shall be given the number VI, and the title of Cloaked Schemer. I shall apprentice under lord Xemnas directly, and pledge loyalty to the Superior of the In-between. I shall don the cloak and a new name, and act as the Superior’s eyes and ears. None shall be above Xemnas, and my loyalty shall be his alone. Until our goals are finally achieved, my name shall be…
X Zexion
Third floating page: an abridged short version of the “Fresh Prince” theme song
Fourth floating page: T’was the Nightmare before Christmas And all through the streets, every monster was preparing for next Halloween! But good ol Jack had another idea - why not invite Sora and friends? And thus, Ienzo let his magic work, now ready for fun and festive fright! What fun forms might his friends take..?
Fifth floating page: dictionary definition of Wizard and its etymology

Koalmolt (Fire/Ground) is a helpful little Kobold who yearns for the mines. It has a Shovel for a tail and a little candle flame on its head that helps it light the way through dark caves.
Kobotage (Fire/Steel) is a mischievous older Kobold who if they can stay on task are very industrious workers but they can easily get distracted and like to mess around with things leading to accidents in the workplace
Grimlow (Ghost) is a shy wandering spirits that give off a ghostly light. They will often run away from people on sight prompting curious people to chase them and get lost.
Gheistro (Ghost) is no longer afraid of people but likes to appear before them in a sudden puff of Smoke and fire as well as performing other tricks to get a rise. It will sometimes hold a Grimlow on their head and pretend to be a human and then tear it off to make people scream.
Hallowyrm (Fire/Ghost) are a very rare pokemon who evolve from a Koalmolt and Grimlow in the party at max friendship but only at Night and in the Autumn leading up to Halloween. The Koalmolt and Grimlow in this pokemon are best friends who want to celebrate the Spooky Season together.

Radka Ondrová, Bludička
“A bludička is a being, a blue or green light, luring people, sometimes with good, sometimes with bad intentions, always in odd numbers. In the Czech Republic they are also known as cvendy, rychmandle, zhubenčata (Moravia), zabončata, in Poland as biedniky, swietliky; in Russia as Ogonek. In English it is will-o-the-wisp, in French le feu follet.”
Tumblr media
František Kaván, Bludička
“Like Rusalkas, they arise when an unbaptized child, a witch, or a murdered woman dies. Therefore, they are often found in cemeteries, or at places of murder or the resting place of the deceased. However, they are mostly associated with swamps and marshes, where they lure their victims.”
Tumblr media
Julius Mařák, Bludička
“Sometimes they are helpful, they can help find the way home (and then they are very happy to be thanked, dance happily and shine more), or even show where the treasure is hidden. Especially if the wanderer promises to help them, or free them from the curse. What makes them angry is when a person whistles at them, then they become vengeful.”
Tumblr media
Linda Čihařová, Bludičky
“In some regions, it is said that the soul, while in purgatory, has its abode in a tree, and when it dies before the end of purgatory, the soul remains as a wanderer. Protection against them is a shirt turned inside out, or walking with one foot in a rut. It also helps to throw crumbs in between.”

David Moješčík, Bludička

“Will-o-wisps commonly haunt deserted, dangerous places such as bogs, fens, swamps, or catacombs where mires, quicksand, pit traps and the like are plentiful.” (AD&D Monster Manual, TSR, 1977) The Monster Manual II established that the boggart was an immature will-o-wisp.
