I am on my knees BEGGING authors to stop promoting their books with tropes or what stories they based theirs off of. I don't care that your story is like a mashup of Aladdin and The Mummy I don't care that the love interest is a morally grey character, WHAT IS THE PLOT
#getting sick of bookstagram#tropes can be great!#but i dont care!#what are your trope laden characters working towards#what is standing in the way of their goals#why should i read your story over any other story with the same tropes?#aladdin meets the mummy isnt good enough that tells me aesthetic not plot#ugh

I've been watching a friend play 999 and quickly became obsessed with how often characters bring up that stupid fucking Ice Mummy on the Titanic.
#what do you mean she's real. what do you mean she DOESN'T AFFECT THE PLOT.#There's an ice mummy loose in Nevada!#Why was she in Nevada.#and not on a ship. in the ocean. did they move her#why does everyone on this boat have a special interest in the sinking of The Titanic#I feel like I had a stroke. Not a complaint btw.#Uchikoshi is at it again! (I say as if it is not one of his earlier games)#999#999 spoilers#the nonary games#zero escape#kotaro uchikoshi

One funny piece of media criticism floating around Tumblr dot hellsite dot com is talking about making movies that are just fun, The Mummy with Brendan Frasier being a premiere example. Generally the way it goes is, "they don't have to be good, just fun." Thing is, making a fun movie like The Mummy is a lot of work. Exciting adventure stories don't just happen by accident, and part of the immense skill of such movies is making it all look easy.
I'm sometimes taken off guard by a movie that's better than expected - usually because they seem low budget and the summary sounds boring. Sometimes it's because it looks like another boring and cliche action movie. Plenty of those exist too, it's not like thousands of creators are falling ass backwards into brilliant filmmaking, Venom is an outlier. But it's really common to experience the surprise of audiences about some kind of big dumb action movie, and I think that's because so many action movies are big and dumb, few people understand that good action movies are smart.
You know what's good about the Mummy? Why it's good? Because it's a movie that knows every genre cliche the audience is waiting for, and chooses its moments to break those cliches with great care for maximum impact. It's good because it's direction knows how to build up great tension with the plot, through foreshadowing, through audience awareness, through genre standards. And the release is beautifully controlled. The "wrong side of the river" line is funny under any circumstances but it drops as a capstone on a very intense escape scene which makes it KILL, every time. When John Hannah's character turns out to be, against all the pre-loaded genre expectations and foreshadowing, actually a generally honest stand up guy, it's so much fun! Not by accident though. It's on purpose. It's a big dumb action movie but it's a big dumb action movie made by people who are very very good at making big dumb action movies.
That's really the thing of it all. There's now a hundred MCU movies that just turned The Mummy into a formula, they've carved out all the one liners and twists and turns mechanically, but they're not big dumb movies, because they're not allowed to be made with the kind of adoration of the genre that you get in smaller films, films that aren't locked into a three year product rollout plan. But you can still get big exciting movies if you look around for em. They didn't go away, they just got pushed out to the edge.
But I gotta beg again - take the time to recognize that when those movies that seem made without a thought or a care somehow manage to hit with you, give you a great big grin and a sense of excitement, remember that's not an accident or luck, someone probably plotted that out and made it fun on purpose, with care.

Hi Friends! - Daniel Ricciardo x CastMember! Reader
Plot: Daniel, Lando, Max and Oscar decide to take a trip to Disney World

You'd worked at disney pretty much since you left school. It was the only way for you to afford your fees in University and was the most felixible work in Orlando.
You worked in the Battu area currently but you'd originally worked in the British Pavilion in Epcot as a Cultural Exchange, but once life seemed to become a little more steady in Orlando you moved to Hollywood Studios but just in the Star Wars section, a true passion of yours.
You got to dress like a rebel everyday and walk round with Chewy, Rey and the other face characters and got to make guests experiences much more fun than they were. A lot of your interactions were the same, mostly with younger guests who asked you questions about the world and where you came from which you had a line of easy answers, but today had been a very imprompt heavy day.
First, because of an accident near the First Order area, Kylo Ren and two storm troopers were forced to walk through your designated area, meaning you and Rey had to act like you were hiding from him. Many of the guests around you got involved talking to the troopers to distract them while you and Rey managed to escape.
Your lunch break consided of a location special, a Ronto Wrap and Tattooine Sunset which you didn't have everyday but it was a nice treat everynow and then.
"Hey Y/N!" Your manager smiles at you and you grin, wiping the sauce from around your mouth before gesturing her to take a seat opposite you.
"How are you Linda?" you ask kindly taking a sip of your drink waiting for her response.
"Mmmm, todays a good day, and i hear it is for you to. I came to let you know guests are speaking really highly about you today and are coming forward with a lor of compliments and so we wanted you to help with a VIP Party coming in later on today" she explains and you take a look at her with wide eyes.
"Wait who is it?" you ask, shaking your head wondering why this had been sprung on you so last minute.
"You'll know them when you see them sweetheart! Usual meeting place and the guide will meet you there but you've just got to be your usual Batuuian self and they'll love it. Take them on the rides, have interactions and all that!!" she grins before running of, leaving you and the sauce currently spilling out of your wrap and onto the plate.
As directed you waited for them at the entrance to appear, greating guests as they came in welcoming them to Batuu. That's when you saw a group, four guys, two women, a child and two of your colleagues.
You knew who they were straight away, Formula One Drivers... one of them a current world champion in his difficult sport.
"Bright Suns, Travellers!" you greet in your typical Battuian way.
"Hello" Max smiles pushing the young girl foreward.
"Oh woah, a young padawan! Pleasure to meet you!" you stick your hand out and she grins, avoiding the hand and pulling you into a hug. You grin, hugging her back crouching down to her height.
She lets go and you stand back up smiling.
"Welcome to Batuu, have we been before?" you ask around the group, all shaking their head.
"Excellent first time travellers are always exciting to show around the spire. But ..." you pause looking around to 'see if the coast was clear'. "There has been some activity in Batuu recently that is dangerous so, are you all ready for an adventure?" you ask and they all nod.
"Mmmmm what side are you aligned with?" you ask the general group, only for Lando to scoff.
"This one travelled to the dark side long ago... and the little one, shes easily persuaded by his antics. Me on the otherhand im good as gold" Lando jokes making you gasp taking a dramatic step back from Max and Penelope.
"NOOOOOOOO!" the little girl cries jumping forward.
"I'm good i promise! Were here to help, right mummy?" she asks and the lady nods a smile on his face.
"And you?" you ask looking at the older man, long nose and lots of curls and facial hair.
"Mmmm, im as sweet as a peach!" Daniel grins and you nod.
"Well, now that i know your alignment is with the resistance, i require your help. Come with me, Rey awaits!" you exclaim, making them follow you over to the first ride of the day rise off the resistance.
Everytime the cast members with them described something about the location you'd chip in with a personal story of your time on Battuu.
You get through the rock caves through the lightening lane. You show them the hologram of Rey before you help them 'escape' onto the pod. The other guests around would be excited seeing as a cast member was here to make this experience different.
As the pod gets pulled to the First Order ship you start panicking and giving everyone intructions.
"You, youngling! You're on the front lines when those doors open okay?" you point out the random kid in front of the door before turning around to the person closest to the pilot.
"And you, watch that data, track it!" you tell them and they nod officially.
"And the handsome man, over there in the back" you point to Daniel who rolls his eyes and laughs.
"You're my muscle okay?" you tell him and he nods coming to stand next to you.
"Are we all ready, we act like we're hostages but we will get help i promise! Poe and Finn will come for us!" you nod and they all agree with a yes maam.
The doors open and one of your frist order colleagues opens the door, trying to conceal the shock on his face.
"Y/N ... Fancy seeing you here upon the first order ship ... again ..." he monotones making you grin stepping out the ride first.
"Ahhh ya missed me right Charlie, paperwork for these guys is dragging. We should get a drink on Canto Bight some time talk through our ...differences" you grin and he shakes his head keepin ga stern face on.
"Get in line! You rebel scum!" he says.
"Going the same place as the last time yeah? Okay guys follow me!" you say having everyone follow you. You pull up infront of the stationary stormtroopers that are there just for show.
"Get a load of these guys, stiff as bricks" you joke shaking your head before walking off. Penelope grabs your hand and you stop to look down at her.
"Are you scared?" you ask her and she nods. You nod back and keep her close to you as you all que. You see many of the workers, who interact with you and the group much to Lando and Daniel's amusement.
You make your way into the containment unit and await to be saved. Your colleagues great you and you get into the seat next to Daniel in the back row to give the others a better experience at the front. The ride continues as you escape the first order and land back on Batuu.
"Argh boy am i thankfuk that we made it back here all okay!" you say with a little jig as you bring them out.
"So what do you guys do for a living in your own world?" you ask wondering what they'll say.
"We all race against each other in really fast transports" Max explains cocking his head to the side wondering if he'd used the right wording.
"Ohhhh! That's so interesting, we have something similar here called pod racing! I bet you guys would be grand at that!" you smile.
"Hmmm whose hungry i feel like our adventuring so far means we need to feed ourselves" you ask and they all nod happy to get out of the Floridian Summer Sun.
You guys get to the Falcon and you ask if they want to go for a ride to show their skills off.
"You mean we can drive it?" Daniel asks, playing along.
"Well fly it. I think Hanzo asked for my help earlier ... lets go!" you take them forward. Obviously once they got there all four drivers wanted to be pilot and were split into two groups.
Daniel and Max on one team, Lando and Oscar on the other. Lily and Penelope begged to join the McLaren duo. Kelly and you were pushed in with Max and Daniel and the rest was put on autopilot.
"I'm going to show you how to really drive space girl" Daniel grins making you roll your eyes and get ready to press the info for the engineer seats.
"Max pull up!" Daniel cries.
"I am, you need to go left!" he cries flicking his arm up at the screen.
"Please Travellers, keep clear heads" you say trying your hardest to stay in character.
Once your came up, you took the boys and Lily to Oga's cantina, while Kelly took P off to get her some merch that she'd seen on the way in.
"Cheers to a good day!" he calls out.
"Sagrona" you smile, cheersing in one of the many languages of Star Wars.
"You're like really into this" Daniel asks looking over you with a smirk.
"Mmmm i love Battuu it's like my home" you nod and he nods back.
"And say would a space girl ike yourself be free after you've saved the galaxy or whatever it you do here on Batuu?" he smiles and you shake your head.
"Mmmm yeah i might be... depends on the galaxy!" you grin and with that he took a sip of his drink smiling at you.
It was a great day, but you couldn't help but feel gutted when Daniel left.
You really wanted to spend more time with him as the witty banter you'd shared this afternoon felt like the two of you had connected, but you thought as you had watched him play around with P in the dark, wielding lightsabers you'd given them to mess about with for photos that maybe you had a chance despite his celebrity status.
However, the instagram comment on your post had you squealing.

WRIOTHESLEY
You watched Cameron and Éveline playing on the other side of the room as you tirelessly documented the files that had arrived from the courthouse that afternoon.
Wriothesley have been patrolling the prison’ Forbbiden Zone all day after receiving an information about some anomaly within the fortress, so you barely had seen your husband except for the brief greeting at breakfast.
Distracted with your work, you didn't even notice that both children had stopped building the wooden blocks and Cameron was sitting in the chair in front of you while Eve made herself comfortable on the sofa behind him.
“Mummy?” he called and you looked up from the papers at him and smiled.
“Yes, sweetheart?”
“How did you and Daddy fall in love?”
Your son's sudden question took you by surprise, leaving you stunned for a few seconds. But you soon found yourself chuckling and ignoring your work to pay attention to the boy.
“Why the sudden curiosity, Cam? That's pretty out of your character, you know.”
Cameron shrugged.
“I just want to know how you and Daddy met.”
Smiling softly, you nodded.
“Very well. Let’s see… It all began a long time ago, when mommy was sentenced to the Fortress of Meropide,” you narrated in a reflexive tone and waved for Éveline to come closer to sit next to her friend.
“Back then, mama wasn’t the person she is today, you see. I was rude, I was always angry, I picked fights with anyone who crossed my way and I didn't let anyone get close to me. You could say I wasn't a very nice person to be around, and because I was in prison, it also meant I wasn't a good person either.”
“I simply couldn't get used to life down here as most of the prisoners do, nor do I could accept the sentence that was given to me. Therefore, I rebelled in every way I could and participated in the fights in the hope that someone would see some value in me and would send me back to the capital. But, well, at that time we had a not very nice director and the inmates cared more about themselves than about others.”
“Lo and behold, a year passed, your dad ascended as Duke and I was still hoping to be able to get out of here.”
“But then, the night of a new duel had arrived and barely I knew it'd be a night that'd change my life forever. It was the night I finally met your dad. Or better saying, where he became interested in me.”
“I remember it was a quick fight. I was already assured of victory but my opponent decided to bravely face me anyway. Although I was no longer the girl I was a year ago, I was still merciless in the face of a rival. Mostly of the Pankration Ring’s regulars knew my name because I made of it my reputation. That was one of the reasons your dad went to watch the fight that night. He wanted to see who was the person who was sending dozens and dozens of prisoners to Sigewinne,” you smirked at the kids making them giggling.
“When the fight ended, he came to me wanting to know more about me and asking all kinds of questions. Nevertheless I wasn't interested in relationship, preferring to stay away from every one of the Fortress. Furthermore, I had an exclusive grudge against men so I couldn’t stand his person,” you paused the story to see if Cameron would react negatively to this detail but the boy only seemed more interested by it.
“I don't remember very well what I said to him, however, it was clear that I wasn't interested and didn't want any kind of flattery from him. Needless to say it didn't work because your dad is as stubborn as a mule.”
“From that night, Wriothesley made a promise to himself to get closer to me and he fulfilled it very well as he kept following me everywhere.”
“It was extremely annoying and I couldn't understand what his curiosity about me was. After all, when I first arrived here he had never shown any sign of acknowledging my existence, so why at that moment?”
“Even though I still didn't understand him and tried at all costs to escape his sight, Wriothesley always found a way to find me and include me in his conversations. It was irritating to get so much attention from the new director of the Fortress of Meropide, and it was even scarier for me not to know what was his intentions either. But, over time, I got used to his presence and even started to yearn for it…”
“A couple of months later I dared to ask him why he insisted on getting closer to me,” you snorted at the memory as a small smile stretched your lips.
“What did he say?” Éveline asked curious.
“He said he wanted me to know that even though I kept pushing everyone away from me, he’d always come back. Because even though I thought I was doing better on my own, no one deserves to be alone and remain unseen.”
“It wasn’t the answer I expected but I felt like all my feelings—all the frustration, anger, sadness, and pain I was carrying at that time were validated, and he was seeing each of them.”
“After that, it took a while longer for me to accept that there was someone who cared about me, but I slowly opened my heart to him.”
“When I finally came to terms with my feelings, I still tested Wriothesley's loyalty a little bit more. I must say it was worth it to see him working hard for two years. Nonetheless, he was and still is the best choice I’ve ever made,” you finish the story and the children clap excitedly making you laugh in amusement.
Unexpectedly, a third person also claps and you see the said person leaning against the stair railing, smirking at you—probably he had been there since the beginning of the story.
“So you mean that all that time I was trying my best to have my feelings acknowledged you were testing me? That hurts, doll.”
You roll your eyes and turn your attention back to the children who were entertained by the scene.
“Just like I’ve said. It was worth each second.”
NEUVILLETTE
“Mummy, daddy. How did you fall in love?” Éveline asks suddenly as she makes her presence known in your husband’s office, making both of you stop your tasks to stare at her.
“I was playing with Cam today and he asked his mama how she and Monsieur Wriothesley met and fell in love, and it was a very nice story! I want to know how you and papa met and fell in love too!” she says with a rare enthusiasm that makes you chuckle and Neuvillette smiles fondly.
“My my, if my beautiful Line isn’t curious today, huh?” you tease your daughter and leave a quick peck on her pale cheek soon after. “Well, let me see… Everything began when mama was sentenced to prison,” you chuckle when Éveline's blue eyes widen.
“No need to get your little head stewing with that, angel. It was years ago and mama didn’t stay there too long either. You see, your mom used to do some… inappropriate stuff and I ended up going to trial for that.”
Neuvillette snorted softly from his desk.
“Inappropriate is a very polite way for your mom to say she used to be involved with a lot of illegal matters, darling,” Neuvillette pointed out with a small smirk himself as he stopped his reading to stare at you.
“Oh, shush you, Neuvi. You say that as if it was an unforgivable crime when it wasn’t,” you roll your eyes in fake annoyance making Éveline giggle, “As I was saying, angel. Mama went to trial and, of course, your papa was the only one to conduct it.”
“You see, I already knew who was he—actually, who didn't? The just and benevolent but impartial Iudex of Fontaine. Although, I had never seen him in person until the day I had to show at court.”
“At that time I’d never admit it but I was very anxious to meet the head judge of Fontaine. When you get involved in reckless things, you think you're smarter than everyone and will never get caught, but little did I know that your dad had been tracking and watching me for ages.”
“And then when I finally stood in front of him, my nervousness strangely disappeared and became more like a curiosity. After all, I had only heard about the Iudex's morals and not his personality much less his appearance, so it was clear to everyone at the court that I was very intrigued by that man standing above me.”
“As the trial proceeded, he gave me a five-year sentence in the Fortress of Meropide which I managed to reduce by eight months for good behavior,” you winked at your daughter who kept listening to your storytelling, dazzled. “Not only did I refuse to be there in prison away from my own business, but I felt more motivated to return to the surface to learn more about your dad.”
“When I finally got back to the city, I used all my means to get your dad’s attention again—which actually worked several times since he likes to keep an eye on Fontaine’s order.”
“Then, the months were passing by and my curiosity and interest just kept growing. And suddenly, I caught myself falling in love with all the things I was learning about him.”
“Even though it was fun to use of wrong ways to get the attention of the man you like, it was also tiring. And that situation was also reaching a point where I felt like your dad wasn't giving me the signals I was expecting him to do, so I was also getting stressed. Maybe he isn’t as fond of me as I am of him, that was what I thought.”
“Nevertheless, I'm a very resilient woman. I didn't let myself sink into self-pity, much less feel sad about the lack of reciprocity in love so I opened a new business here in the capital saying I wanted to live a peaceful life, and see where it’d take me. Fortunately here I could make great friends, a lot of associates, and even more trades.”
“And contrary to my guessing, Neuvi eventually started to visit my store where we had more appropriate interactions and talks, much for my joy.”
“I kept falling in love with him every day, you know? Thankfully your dad is a gentleman and he didn't take too long to ask me on a date. From then on, we became almost inseparable. That’s our story.”
As you finish your love story, you could see your daughter’s eyes sparkling like two beautiful gems and a huge smile shining on her face. It made you happy that she enjoyed the story of how her parents met instead of getting mixed feelings by it—after all, the things you still do are better kept hidden until she’s older enough to understand them.
You and your family kept talking about the said topic for a while, but eventually, you had to say goodbye to them to leave for a meeting with some partners from your business which you already were late for.
Unbeknownst to you though, Éveline and Neuvillette who were still in the office, shared your love story once again. But this time, it was a version you still haven’t heard.
Perhaps you'd never know either as it became a secret shared only between father and daughter.
“I fell in love with your mom at the very moment I saw her.”
LYNEY
The twins' little nimble footsteps could be heard throughout the house before it took them to the kitchen where you and Lyney were busy cleaning the lunch dishes.
“Mommy, mommy! Uncle Freminet just read a book to Quentin and me and we want to know how you and Daddy fell in love too!” exclaimed Corinne, smiling excitedly.
“Oh my. That was quite sudden,” you laughed as you dried the last dish of the day and put it away immediately to give your full attention to the children, “I bet it was a very romantic book for you to be so excited about.”
“It was!”, they exclaimed together making you and Lyney laugh.
“I don't see why not, then. It may not be as exciting as the tale Freminet read to you, but I think you'll like it too,” you say sitting at the table and placing Corinne on your lap while Lyney does the same with Quentin.
“Well, I think our story is much more charming than the one in the book that Uncle Freminet read to you,” replies your husband, sending you a wink, “You could say that like a fairy tale, the magician prince fell in love at first sight with the most beautiful princess in the entire kingdom.”
“Back in those days, a troupe of nomadic artists traveled throughout Teyvat bringing joy and laughter to their audiences. It was your mom’s family.”
“They traveled across all nations enchanting its residents with their music, acrobatics, but especially with their dance. And, believe it or not, they had never come to Fontaine until that day.”
“As a lover of the art of entertainment, I had to see for myself what a performance by the Pathfinder’s Troupe would be like, they who had a reputation that extended beyond the stars in the sky! Furthermore, as a colleague in the same department, I also wanted to give my final verdict. But truth to be told, daddy was just a little bit of jealous because of all the attention mama’s group was getting at that time,” he made a face at this specific memory that made you and the kids laugh.
“So when the night of the show came, I finally understood why they were such a success. All the troupe members had a bright, warm smile, seeming to love what they were doing. The music was loud and happy and even though you didn't know the language they sang in, you wanted to join them. It was a simple show, but funny and welcoming.”
“But then when it came time for your mom to take the stage, there wasn't a person in the audience who wasn't dazzled by her. Including me,” Lyney pauses as he smiles at the memory running through his mind. You smiled back.
“It was, and still is, the most beautiful performance I had ever seen. Not only did your mom look like a goddess at that moment, with her traditional clothing, makeup, and gold jewelry, but she mesmerized the audience with her movements.”
“Unfortunately, her dance didn’t last long and she soon left the stage, thanking us all for our presence.”
“Like several people enchanted by that beautiful dancer, I tried to approach her to say my compliments but—whether you two believe it or not, daddy was scared to death.”
“Why scared Daddy?” asked Quentin.
“Mama was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life. I didn't want to make a fool of myself in front of her, much less offend her with my words,” Lyney replies to which the two children nod as if they understood.
“Luckily, daddy always had a secret or two up his sleeve, and when I approached her, I did a little magic trick turning a tiny spark of my vision into a Rainbow Rose, which at the time I thought was my worst trick but it seemed to make your mom happy.”
“It was the most genuine and sweetest gesture anyone had ever made to me,” you extend your hand to your husband across the table and he takes it, placing a light kiss on your palm.
“We didn't have much time left together since she was traveling back to her hometown the next morning, and nor did I have the courage to invite her to dinner either, something that caused me deep regret and even made Aunt Lynette annoyed.”
“But before she left, I promised I’d see her again. And, luckily, a few months later, she and her troupe returned to Fontaine to perform a new show.”
“And then you said you loved each other?” Corinne asked innocently.
You and Lyney laughed, “No Rin. Far from it actually. Your dad could barely get close to me without him stuttering something indecipherable, turning around, and disappearing into the city streets,” you teased your husband which made him feel embarrassed.
“What can I say? You always seemed to get more beautiful each day and I had never been interested in anyone before. Besides, there were a lot of suitors vying for your attention so I figured you wouldn’t be interested in me.”
You roll your eyes in amusement, “And look where we are now.”
“So how did you start to love each other?” Quentin asks, still in doubt.
“After many failed attempts by your papa, he finally managed to invite me to dinner—which I accepted without thinking twice. After that, he felt more confident talking to me and asking me out,” you say, “But there were also many times when we were away from each other due to our work.”
“I knew I loved the troupe and I loved being on the road traveling and performing in different countries but I was also in love with your papa. When I was with him… I knew I had found a home. So I left the troupe, came to Fontaine, confessed my feelings to him and, fortunately, he confessed me back.”
“And since then we have been living happily ever after. The end!” Lyney jokes and you and the twins giggles again.
“So! Did you like the story?” you ask.
Corinne is the first to nod eagerly. Her beautiful purple eyes shone like two amethysts in pure joy towards her parents' love story.
Quentin in turn…
“Meh. I thought Daddy had fight a dragon to save you.”
You and Lyney stare at each other for a while before laughing loudly, catching the attention of Lynette and Freminet as they enter the kitchen.
Yeah. You couldn't deny it. Fighting a dragon seemed more exciting in this case.
KAEDEHARA KAZUHA
“It’s more precise to say that love has fallen on me,” Kazuha said as he sat Kazumi on his right leg and little Kiyomi on his left. His children looked at him with a confused expression making him chuckle.
“It was a long time ago. We were sailing on the waters east of Mondstadt when I felt an unknown agitation being carried by the wind currents.”
“You should know that it’s pretty rare to face sea creatures nowadays due to fishing, but at that time, it was an occurrence we faced quite often so we should've always be prepared for it. And as part of The Crux’s crew, it was my job to stay vigilant, so I immediately informed our captain and mates to stay alert and careful for a possible attack—although I must say I wasn’t alarmed as I should be. Something in my instincts told me to not be afraid,” he smiled at the memories.
“Then, as if to confirm my predictions, we saw a shadow crossing the skies and falling not soon after. No one seemed to react in time, however, I had instantly prepared myself with the help of my vision for whatever was coming to us.”
“That was when your mom fell directly into my arms, surprising everyone on the ship because I had just saved her life from a free fall after one of the wings of her wind glider broke,” the kids gasped and he kept softly smiling at them.
“I feared that your mama had hurt herself during the fall but when she finally looked at me she was giving me that gorgeous, bright smile of hers. I think it was at that exact moment where she had my heart.”
“Until that moment I had never seen someone so beautiful in my life. She looked stunning, wonderful. As radiant as the first sun ray of the morning.”
“I could see she was thanking me for saving her life as her lips kept moving, but all I could do at that moment was stare at her, completely mesmerized. It was quite impossible not to be that one who was falling in love at that very moment.”
“After that, she started accompanying us on some journeys and even took us on some of her adventures. I was in love with her free spirit, yes, but even more so with her person. It didn't take long for us to get closer, and starting to date her was as natural as having her in my life.”
“That's our story. It is still being written, however, this time we have you, our most beloved children, to share our memories with.”
As he finished it, Kazuha noticed the dreamy and joyful expressions on both children's faces. Kiyomi seemed the most enchanted by the story since she had inherited the romantic spirit of both her parents while Kazumi pretended to be unimpressed when in fact, inwardly, he was eager for more details of it. The patriarch couldn’t hide his amusement at the view.
Both siblings showed excitedly their enthusiasm towards their parents’ love story with some funny and cute comments here and there which, eventually, drew your attention to the living room they were in.
When you walked in with a baby Haruki sleeping in your arms, your family stopped their conversation to stare at you which made you raise an eyebrow in confusion.
“What? Am I interrupting something? I heard a loud noise coming from here and came to see what you two little things were up to.”
Kazumi and Kiyomi looked briefly at each other before giggling cutely.
“Otochan was telling us the story of how you met and how he fell in love with you,” your daughter responds excitedly.
This immediately brings a smile to your face, making you walk over and sit on the couch next to them, adjusting Haru comfortably in your arms as you lean towards your two older children and husband.
“Oh, I love this story! Did you guys know? I literally fell for your dad!”
KAVEH
It was late at night and you and Kaveh were putting Zahra to sleep.
Normally, you and your husband would take turns with your daughter's nighttime routine so that the tasks wouldn’t be exhausting for only one person.
However, the little girl had woken up sick that morning and had demanded her both parents' attention all day, acting more whiny than usual. So it wasn't unexpected that she also asked for both parents to be with her at bedtime.
Lying in bed with Zahra, you stroked her blonde curls as she snuggled into the warmth of your embrace, happy for the attention she received. In turn, Kaveh was looking for a book from her mini collection to read to her, although you could tell that he was having a hard time making the right choice since none of the options seemed to catch his daughter's attention.
“Umm… We have The Boar Princess, Flowers for Princess Fischl, and The Fox in the Dandelion Sea but Daddy doesn’t know if you want me to read one of those titles again,” Kaveh showed her the books but Zahra denied them.
“No! Daddy already read The Boar Princess yesterday and I don't like Princess Fischl,” she responds grumpily, which draws a sigh of defeat from the architect.
“Okay, I'm out of ideas. Azizam, I need help here.”
You giggled softly but went to your husband's aid, “Well... How about we change the scene a little and tell you a different story?”
Zahra's eyes suddenly widened in curiosity and she nodded enthusiastically.
“How about if we tell you something new? Something that doesn't even exist in books. The story of how Mommy and Daddy met!”
Kaveh, also seeming to brighten at your suggestion, takes the other spot on your daughter's tiny bed and wraps his arm around both of your waists.
“Ah, this is one of my favorite stories,” he comments, sending you a small smile.
“It’s better than The Boar Princess, mummy?” asks Zahra excitedly.
You laugh, “Much better than The Boar Princess, sweetheart. Honey, how about you do the honors?” you suggest in a mischievous tone that catches Kaveh off guard, but seeing that you weren't going to budge and his little princess seemed increasingly anxious, the architect cleared his throat before starting to recount about the day he finally met you.
“Let’s see… It was at a time when life was a bit of a rollercoaster for me.”
“You know, I’ve always been very passionate about my work and have always dedicated myself to the maximum to bring my projects to life. I was ambitious, hard-working, and had dozens of clients but I was also quite ignorant. It didn't matter how great my desire to build houses and palaces was, or how strong were my inspiration when my wallet didn't match my reality. Neither did my mental state...”
“Then one day I received a letter. It was the Liyue's Tianquan inviting me to participate in an exclusive civil construction project and my participation in this event would be of great honor.”
“When I saw that opportunity, I grabbed it without thinking about the consequences. After all, it wasn't every day that I received a chance like that, and even though my work had a certain popularity, not all clients were able to follow my ideas. So I imagined that being in a foreign environment with people who apparently valued my projects would be like reaching the purpose I wanted. Plus the paycheck seemed to be rewarding too.”
You snort in amusement at his last comment.
“So I went to Liyue and soon I was in a huge meeting room with professionals coming from all Teyvat. As the project meeting continued I found myself increasingly out of place by the suggestions my colleagues were making. They were so closed-minded. When they’re thinking about time, I wanted quality. While they wanted cost savings, I wanted to do something to make the people involved in that construction feel worthy of a home. It was disappointing and I was starting to get sick of that place.”
“That’s when your mama decided to speak out,” the man’s eyes twinkled briefly.
“Unlike those people who had simple and selfish ideals, your mom was brilliant, confident, and bold. Not only did she catch the attention of the men in that room with her beauty and elegance, but it was certainly her intelligence that captured the hearts of many that day. Including mine.”
“Until that moment I hadn’t given my opinion, but knowing that one of the main people in charge had a similar vision to mine, I felt excited to give my ideas. It was one of the moments I felt most anxious too.”
Zahra frowned, “Why Daddy?”
“I think at that moment I got it into my head that your mom had high expectations for me and I didn’t want to disappoint her.”
“But luckily that wasn't the case as she seemed to approve each of my ideas. That’s how we ended up forming a partnership.”
“As we worked together, I found myself liking her more and more. At the time, this was also a big obstacle for me as I didn’t like mixing my professional and personal relationships.”
"But— aah, your mama had a way of enchanting me every day. She appreciated my work and my dedication. She encouraged me to think bigger and challenged me to be bolder not only with my work but with myself. Somewhere along the way, our nightly sessions turned into conversations about life, ambitions, and even our struggles.”
“A few months later, when we finally finished the construction, I felt brave enough to confess my feelings to her, and guess what your mom said, Zaza?”
“What? What did she say Daddy?” she asked expectantly.
“Mama said she wouldn’t accept my feelings until I sorted my life out,” he huffed making you laugh and your daughter look at you in disbelief.
“Don’t look at me like that, Zaza. At the time it was the right decision to make. I was already in love with your papa as much as he was with me, but I knew he wasn't ready to get into a relationship when he wasn't okay with himself. I wanted someone who could provide me security and was confidence in themselves, and your daddy didn’t have those qualities.”
“Ouch, azizam. You don’t need to rub it in!”
“I’m just saying.”
Kaveh sighed resignedly, “Anyway, she said she wouldn’t accept my feelings but would wait for me as long as necessary.”
“After that, I returned to Sumeru but this time determined to prove myself to her. I used every means possible to resolve my financial, family, and personal issues. I worked tirelessly to find my path and build my own home. And almost two years later I traveled back to Liyue. But this time I was sure I wouldn't leave without my girl, and so I did,” he finishes the story, and you clap softly while Zahra smiles tiredly.
“It was a great story, azizam,” you comment, smiling, “But I think now it’s time to finish for today because our little princess needs to sleep well to wake up better tomorrow.”
Kaveh looks at his daughter's sleepy eyes and agrees.
You place Zahra back on her pillow and cover her with the blanket, placing a kiss on her forehead—Kaveh copying your gesture soon after.
Saying goodnight to the girl, you and your husband leave the room together, leaving the door ajar the way she liked it.
On the way to your room, you couldn't help but notice how Kaveh looked so down and you frowned.
“What’s wrong?”
He clicks his tongue and turns his face to the other side, mumbling, “I was just thinking you didn't need to say that I didn't look confident back then, you know? What about now, azizam? What will my own daughter think of me? She’ll think I’m lame!”
You roll your eyes.
“You surely look lame now.”
“Hey!”
ALHAITHAM
The heavy oak door creaked softly as Alhaitham entered the house, his mind finally relaxing after a long day at work.
Right in the living room, the scribe identified your very focused presence with what he presumed to be correcting tests and homework. So as not to make his arrival go unnoticed, Alhaitham approaches and gently touches your shoulders, making you jump in scared.
“I’m sorry, habibti. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he says and you smile at him.
“It’s okay, dear,” you reach for his hand and squeeze it in greeting, “But you should learn to make a little more noise, Haitham. Your presence is as subtle as that of a cat. Anyway, welcome home.”
Alhaitham kisses the top of your head, “Thank you. Where is Hakim?”
You frown and look around the room but don't identify your son's presence anywhere.
“I am not sure, to be honest. He was here with me until a few minutes ago but I don't think watching his mother work is that fun. Maybe he's painting in his room? If he had gone out to play with the twins, he’d have told me,” You conclude.
Your husband nods, but the faint gleam of recognition in his eyes announces that he already has an idea where the child could be.
“Very well. I’ll change my clothes first and I’ll make us some tea right after, okay?”
You nod in thanks and turn your attention to the paperwork while Alhaitham disappears through the halls of the house.
Instead of making his way to your shared room, the scribe heads to the door of his office where he finds it ajar. Not surprised, Alhaitham approaches and through the small opening observes the brightly lit room as Hakim makes himself comfortable on the floor leafing through a specific book but surrounded by dozens of others—which he assumes have fallen to the floor as his son tried to reach them from the highest shelf.
A mixture of fatherly pride and affection surfaced beneath his stoic exterior.
Clearing his throat lightly, Alhaitham approaches with measured steps, not wanting to scare the boy.
“I thought I’d find you here,” he announces making Hakim jump in fright, just like his mother did. Alhaitham snorted in amusement.
“Sorry Baba. I know you don’t like anyone touching your things, but I was going to tidy everything up later.”
“It’s okay, Kim,” he replies calmly and sits down in the armchair located in the middle of the office, “What are you reading?”
Hakim smiles adorably showing off the book he was so interested in and Alhaitham couldn't help but chuckle.
“It’s a cool book!” comments the boy, “I can't read what's written because there are lots of strange letters and drawings but they're cool too.”
“I expect so. After all, your mother wrote this book.”
Hakim’s interest peaks, “Really?”
“Yes. It's one of my favorite ones, by the way. It was through it that I met her”, he pats his thighs inviting Hakim to sit on his lap which the boy accomplishes happily.
Hakim leans back against his father's warm chest, hugging the book affectionately, “How did you two meet, Baba?”
Alhaitham was silent for a few seconds before letting out a reflective sigh.
“It was at the same time that I was holding the position of Acting Grand Sage”, Alhaitham began, his voice taking on a nostalgic tone.
“Sumeru was going through great changes due to everything that had happened and, inevitably, Akademiya had been one of the main places affected by it. I ended up temporarily taking on the role of the great sage out of respect for Buer's wise decision, although it wasn't exactly the job I was looking for.”
“There were many responsibilities, many commitments, and daily there were dozens of issues to be resolved due to years, centuries of bad motivations. So you can imagine how exhausting it was to rebuild an entire institution from zero and be that person that people followed orders.”
“Until one day your mother suddenly appears as a new candidate for the position of professor in the Darshan of Haravatat.”
“I hadn't met her at first since our paths never seemed to cross. Yet the words in the halls of the Akademiya were always the same: the new professor was like a breath of fresh air in that old institution—beautiful, kind, with a passion for knowledge that matched her beauty.”
He paused, remembering the scene as if it were yesterday. “One afternoon, I found myself in the library again, buried in a book—absorbing all that knowledge with a hunger that had previously been unknown to me. Little did I know that it was her book that I was reading. Such insight, elegance, and dedication to details had uniquely captivated me.”
“I was pretty engrossed in the text when I heard footsteps approaching,” Alhaitham continued, with a hint of amusement in his tone. “She stood by my side and gently asked about the book, curious to know what I thought, and so our conversation began.”
“We didn't talk much that day as I was a much more reserved person, but she was exactly as the scholars’ whispers described her. Through the brief talk we had, I was able to explore philosophical thoughts and complexities of life that I had never explored before. Your mother had a way of drawing out my thoughts, of making me see beyond the surface and into the depths of existence. That’s what attracted me to her in the first place.”
“As days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, we met at the library quite often. Our discussions deepened, and with each talk, I found myself opening up in ways I hadn't before.”
“I think she knew back then that she had caught my attention, although it took her a little longer to realize that she had stolen my heart,” he chuckles softly. Hakim smiles in delight.
“We began spending more time together beyond the Akademiya strongholds, exploring the world around us. It made me realize how much I wanted her in my life. In that same way. Every day."
“And then one night, in our quiet sanctuary in that very hallway in the library, I told her those exact words,” Alhaitham's voice softened with love.
“She smiled that radiant smile of hers that illuminates even the darkest corners of my soul and said she felt the same way. At that moment, Hakim, it was like the stars aligned and everything fell into place.”
“That’s how I met your mother, Kim. In the silent corners of knowledge and amid the pages of her wisdom, our love story began—a story woven with understanding, respect, and a bond that grows stronger with each passing day.”
Alhaitham ends the story with a slight smile to which his son imitates him, admiringly.
“I hope one day I can meet someone like you and mama did, Baba.”
The scribe smirks in amusement, “I hope for the same, child.”
Not long after, you made your entrance into the office carrying in your hands a tray with three cups of tea and milk and Hakim's favorite cookies.
“I knew you boys were hiding out here,” you smile at your husband and son, completely oblivious to the story they just shared. “Come on. Let’s eat while the cookies are still warm.”
CYNO
The whole family was gathered in front of the fireplace reviewing some photos that you had captured and saved over the years.
From your days as an eremite to the twins' first steps, every moment was recorded in several photographs that you kept with the greatest care so that, from time to time, you could remember them again with a nostalgic feeling. And currently, this was one of those moments.
Aryan and Isaar were having fun with some older photos of Cyno, courtesy of Cyrus, while you and he organized the rest of the albums back into the box they belonged to.
It was a serene moment, of pure bliss and harmony. Something you wish you could capture with your kamera again, but you'd rather enjoy just being with the people you loved most.
“Hey Mama, what picture is that?” asks Isaar, breaking you out of your daydreams.
When you recognize the black and white, slightly blurred image, a giggle couldn't help but escape your lips.
“Aah, it's from our first date,” you reply happily, “If I'm not mistaken, Dehya and Candace had followed us that day and took this one. Nobody could believe that the emotionless and unapproachable General Mahamatra could go on a date with a beautiful girl, so I think they wanted to have proof that this day happened.”
Cyno snorts and the twins nod in understanding, smiling at each other.
“How did you and Baba meet?” Aryan asks shortly afterward, still mesmerized by the photo in his brother's hands.
You and Cyno locked eyes briefly and a mischievous smirk crossed your face as the flicker of a smile curved his lips.
“Well, you boys won't believe it, but it all started when I defeated your baba in a fight.”
The smile on Cyno's face immediately disappeared, being replaced by an expression of slight unbelief and confusion. “You didn't defeat me, hayati. I remember very well that it was a draw.”
You made a slight grimace as if you didn't believe the blasphemy your husband was saying, which left him more incredulous than before, and your children quite amused.
“These are irrelevant details, my love. Let’s pretend you never said that.”
“Anyway, I was a different person back then,” you continued, your eyes shining with a mixture of mischief and pride. “Living according to my clan's philosophy but in a more devious and rebellious way, if I may say so. I wanted to chart a path in a way that’d only suit me.”
“I used to do several illegal jobs for which the matras already persecuted me for, but it was deceiving the young and naive scholars from Akademiya that amused me and made my reputation grow among its guards. No need to give me that look, boys. Mama only took them to forbidden ruins and mausoleums in exchange for extra money,” you added the last part as you received strange looks from the twins.
Cyno, seeing the scene, snorted in amusement, “You’re not helping yourself, hayati.”
“If they want to hear the true and complete version they better be prepared to hear what happened,” you wrinkled your nose.
To save you from more possible judgments, Cyno resumed the thread, his deep voice cutting through the room. “I was immediately informed about the incidents that were occurring with certain frequency, and tasked with restoring order. It was supposed to be a job easily accomplished even by the lowest ranking among the matras, but not only were your mom’s activities not within the law, as no officer was a match for her strength either. Many scholars had not been discovered of their misconduct thanks to her,” he admitted, a slight affectionate smile crossing his face.
His subtle compliment made you shy.
“And just as your dad’s reputation preceded him, he tracked me like a bloodhound,” you said with a hint of admiration underlying your words. “Until one afternoon I caught myself off guard on the outskirts of the Sobek Oasis and he appeared announcing that he’d take me to the capital so I could have my punishment. I found him incredibly attractive at that moment, but I wasn't going to give in so easily either. In the end, we ended up fighting,” you giggled remembering the duel. Two forces of nature colliding: fire and thunder.
“It was a draw,” Cyno resumes saying it again, “Although I must admit your mom gave me a bit of a hard time. It was my first time facing a formidable opponent who was equal to me—I dare say even superior to my abilities.”
Isaar, the more curious of the twins, leaned forward, eyes wide with excitement, “What happened next?”
You exchanged a knowing look with your husband, silently communicating with him.
“Well, sometimes life surprises you,” you respond cryptically, reaching out to ruffle the child’s hair in affection.
Cyno's gaze softened imperceptibly as he continued, “Our paths continued to cross after our first meeting. While on one hand your mom seemed not to give up what she was doing, I felt increasingly motivated, challenged to stop her—after all, not only was this affecting the performance of the Akademiya students, but it was also tarnishing the reputation of the matras who weren’t managing to deal with that situation.”
“But as time passed and we kept facing each other, we also came to an understanding. Sometimes behind the clash of wills, there is a common thread. That’s how your mom and I realized we were stronger together than we were apart.”
Aryan, although quieter but no less attentive, absorbed his father's words with a thoughtful expression.
“So, it was like fate, Mama?” he mused aloud.
You smiled warmly at your children, your heart filling with maternal pride.
“Maybe it was. In an unpredictable way, but woven by the hands of fate,” you respond, your voice carrying the weight of years of shared history and love.
As the night progressed, you and Cyno continued to tell the twins your stories of adventures, challenges overcome, and the unshakable bond that had been born in infertile soil and blossomed into a deep, beautiful, and lasting partnership.

My brain has two common nightmare settings. The first is zombies. Can’t explain it, but I am utterly unable to consume zombie media of any kind lest I have some extremely vivid night terrors.
And it doesn’t have to be exclusively zombie media to kick off zombie dreams. Anything scary will do. Or even something not scary.
Like The Mummy. It’s all goofy jokes and the glory of Rachel Weiss but it kicked off a round of nightmares for me cause the plot may be silly but some of the visuals are horrifying enough that my brain went, “Hey what if that were real?” I woke up drenched in sweat, clutching my cats for safety. It is a great tragedy I don’t get to rewatch it or see subsequent titles.
For the same reason I avoid any zombie-adjacent games. It’s a bummer, cause things like Fallout and Bioshock seem cool but it’s not worth night terrors. Also the amount of people who go “wELl tHeY’Re not TeChNiCaLLy zOmBieS” when I say why I can’t play those games fills me with rage, you deal with night terrors and tell me those aren’t zombies.
(I often spend zombie dreams looking for Leeloo. Surviving is important but not as important as saving my little cat from the apocalypse.)
But on a completely different side of the spectrum the other type of horror dream I have is a 180 pivot from zombies and doesn’t have a specific trigger. It’s just a random theme that happens on occasion and it’s not recurring because the circumstances are always different but yeah anyway I have nightmares about being pregnant.
Literally one of the worst things I can imagine is growing a thing inside me.
To all the people with a uterus who are full of joy and power in that act of creation, more power to you, but to me it is the stuff of my worst imaginings to have a parasite sucking the nutrients from my teeth and clawing its way free from me.
A common theme to these nightmares is that the pregnancy is spontaneous immaculate conception but no one believes me. My beloved leaves me, thinking I cheated on them. It got to the point that my beloved promised they would believe that I hadn’t cheated on them if it ever happened in real life because it came up so frequently. This actually helped to reduce that plot line.
These dreams just pop up sometimes, usually for unknown reasons, and I always start the dream pretty heavily pregnant and past when I can really abort the fucker inside and I spend the dream in a desperate panic to know how I let it go this far and dreading the imminent pain and horror of child birth.
I always announce to my beloved the morning, “Had another pregnancy nightmare,” and they always kiss my cheek and remind me that they’ll believe me. I guess it’s still slightly better than the zombie dreams. But only barely.

The Adventures of Molly (Part 1)
John Price x wife!reader OC
Summary: The Price’s family dog gets into just as much trouble as the rest of them.
Authors Note: To make up for my lack of including Molly in my fics I decided to dedicate one to her. I’ll be doing one or two more of her through the years as the Price children get older.
Warnings: Swearing, injury, pregnancy, not edited
——————
It was a windy spring day as you and your family stood in the small shelter where the new litter of puppies were housed. You and your husband John Price were finally pulling the trigger and getting the dog you always spoke about. It had been a dream to have lambs in your large plot of land but in order to do that you needed a herding dog.
So here you were, picking one out together. You brought your four year old son Jj and two year old daughter Evelyn. Jj was enamored by the mother dog who birthed the litter while Evelyn was giggling over the puppies wrestling.
“The mummy puppy must be so sad.” Jj was on his tip toes trying to get a better look over the wired fence.
The female blue merl border Collie was curled up in the far corner with a single one of her pups laid on her back by her head. The others were running around and playing. Letting out little yelps and high pitched barks as they tackled each other.
“What makes you say that?” John inquired wondering what his son was getting at.
“People are taking her puppies away. Mummy would be so sad if someone took me and Evie away.” Looking up into John’s matching sky blue eyes Jj had a serious expression on his face. His eyebrows were knit together and full lips fixed in a frown.
“He makes my heart swell and ache at the same time.” You whispered to John.
“Intuitive little guy.” He whispered back.
The two of you were immensely proud that teaching your son empathy wasn’t a challenge. The boy came hardwired carrying about others and now you knew that extended to animals.
“That’s why it’s so important we take good care of the pup. So his mama never has to worry.” Squatting down John spoke softly yet seriously to his son.
He didn’t realize that single sentence seared itself into his son’s mind.
“I’ll walk her every day, feed her lots of treats, and she can even snuggle in bed with me.” Shaking his head admittedly you could see your son was taking this seriously. At four years old he seemed to understand the importance of taking good care of a dog that some adults struggled to grasp.
“Which one do you think, John?” You asked your husbands opinion not knowing what attributes made a good herding dog.
“That one!” Jj’s chubby finger pointed at the sleeping puppy laying on her mothers back.
The small pup had a similar blue merl coat as her mother only she was tri-colored. Her little face was an almost lilac grey with pure white running up her snout and disappearing to the back of her head. One eyes was hugged with a crescent shape of tawny fur while the other had a single dot above it. Her ears matched perfectly with black fur at the point and tawny fur on the inside. The pale grey fur that ran along her body matched her mother’s with the black speckled spots and splotches of pure white.
“You sure? He seems a little. . . lazy.” John, now standing back at his full height, was scratching the back of his head watching how the five other liter mates wrestled and totted around clumsily.
“She’s just sleepy and needs a cuddle.” Jj reasoned with John.
“Oh let him have her.” Bumping John with your hip he continued to look at the sleeping puppy not completely sure this was a good choice for the dog’s intended purpose.
“C’mon! She’s my best friend! She loves me already I swear she does!” Jj was bouncing up and down while pulling on John’s belt loops. Hooking his fingers into the loops Jj arched his back and let his head fall back.
“Pleeease daddy.” Bearing his teeth Jj lightly swung back and forth as he dangled himself backward.
“Okay fine.” John caved. Seeing his son ask so cutely was enough for him to give him what he wanted.
“Can we meet that one?” John pointed to the tiniest of the liter who was sound asleep and making little yipping noises as she dreamt.
“Yes, go right into that pen and I’ll bring her right over for you all to meet.” The elderly woman motioned to the empty pen behind you that was used to introduce the puppies to potential families.
You all piled in and John was giving you a funny look. Rubbing his back you tried to silently reassure him this puppy was fine. That he was being a good father by entertaining his son’s opinion.
Soon enough the small tri-colored border collie was placed on the opposite side of the pen as you. She wobbled on her tiny paws and then turned back to look in the direction of her mother. It was the cutest noise she let out lightly yelping and then howling for her mother.
“It’s okay if you miss your mummy. I’m right here.” Jj kneeled a foot behind the tiny pup with his right hand outstretched.
She turned to look at Jj, tilted her head to the side, took a single step forward and sniffed the space right before his hand. Taking another step she gave him a better sniff then a little lick. There was a few second pause as the gears in her little head turned and then it seemed like she made up her mind. Trotting forward she climbed into Jj’s lap, circled a few times, then plopped down and went to sleep.
“Told you she’s my best friend.” Jj spoke in a tiny voice trying not to wake up his new companion.
“Seems like a perfect match.” The elderly woman smiled sweetly seeing this adorable display of two babies finding their forever family in each other.
“I can’t say no to that. She curled up on him in seconds.” With outstretched arms John barely glanced at you. He was snapping picture a second later which you would end up hanging up in your downstairs hallway.
“Got a name picked out?” The elderly woman asked you and John.
“Molly. Her names Molly.” Jj spoke with the sweetest smile plastered across his young face.
——————
“Jj, where’s Molly?” John asked as he entered his son’s room.
Jj’s room was rectangular shaped with his door located in the right corner. These forest green walls held where Jj loved to play with his toys the most. There was a birch desk in the right corner across from the bedroom door. It was new yet still had marker stains and smudges of water color paints. There was a navy blue rug in the center of the room with a recent stain from when Jj threw up all over John.
In the center of the wall that shared the bedroom door was Jj’s twin sized bed. His bed stuck out to bisect the room and had two night stands on either side of it. After that was his closet door. There was a toy chest at the end of the bed and a dresser on the far wall between the two windows.
It had been a week since you brought your new family member home. Jj kept to his word and walked her every day. The only thing was, he kept battling you and John constantly that Molly needed more treats and should be allowed to snuggle in his bed. She wasn’t house trained yet so it was a firm no from you both. You also told Jj she wouldn’t be allowed on any furniture, that she would have her own dog bed. This made your son throw an absolute fit. That didn’t stop you from finding Molly hidden under his covers fast asleep.
“I think mummy has her.” Jjs voice could be heard from the opposite side of his bed. Little did Jj know you were the one who sent John to go find Molly.
John couldn’t see Jj since he was clearly hiding. There was a soft lapping sound of something being licked that gave the four year old away. Walking around the bed John saw his son lying on his belly with Molly lying right next to him. Jj had a jar of peanut butter opened and his hand coated in the sticky substance as Molly licked it clean.
“The good peanut butter, really?” With a straight face John asked.
Jj slowly looked up with a sheepish smile.
“She should have the best treats. Her mummy would want that.” Jj tried to reason.
Sticking his full hand back into the jar he lathered it up again and offered it to Molly. John was partially annoyed for his son’s lack of listening but he couldn’t deny how cute Jj looked being sweet to their new dog. Dressed in his fire truck pajamas with multiple dog toys lying around him.
“Jj that stuffs expensive.” John chuckled.
“I’ll eat the bad peanut butter, I don’t mind. I want Molly to have the tasty kind.” Getting up to kneel Jj gave John a toothy smile that didn’t reach his icy blue eyes.
Jj was unsure if he was in trouble but if he was it was worth getting his new best friend a yummy snack. Jj went to lather his hand again but gasped when John grabbed the jar off the floor and screwed the lid back on.
“Daddy-“
“If she has anymore she’ll get sick. Like the time you wouldn’t stop eating m&m’s.” With a smirk John motioned for Jj to get up.
“Mummy shouldn’t have left them out.” Jj explained to John as if he wasn’t the one to have his son throw up all over him from eating way too much candy.
“Go and wash your hands. Then we can take Molly out back and let her run around off leash.” John started to laugh as Jj gasped in excitement and ran out his room to go wash up.
“Molly you’re gonna love this!” Jj squealed from the bathroom.
To John’s amazement the 9 weeks old puppy trotted after his son. She breezed right by John like he didn’t exist and was fixated on the little boy.
——————
“Jj! The peanut butters missing again.” You called from the kitchen.
It didn’t sound like a warning but it was. And soon enough your son appeared in the kitchen doorway looking guilty. Next to him was your new puppy who had been a part of the family for four months now. She had grown incredibly fast and no longer looked like a puppy. At the rate she was growing she’d be the same size as Jj in a few months.
“Can we get a ‘Molly’ peanut butter?” It came out as a whine.
“We have one.” You reminded your son and motioned for him to hand over the nice glass jar.
“But it’s gross.” Jj complained as he handed you the overly priced jar.
“Dogs shouldn’t be having all this sugar. It’s not good for them. That’s why we got her a sugar and salt free one.” You were surprised to see Jj roll his eyes and you could feel the sass about to come which was unlike the normally agreeable child.
“Don’t worry Molly I’ll make sure meanie mummy isn’t giving you that gross stuff.” Petting her head Jj ran for the back door.
“Slow down.” John chuckled as Jj ducked between his father’s long legs and ran into the yard. Molly barked and ran after your son clumsily.
John was just walking into the house from work. He was dressed in beige cargo pants and a green t-shirt that was tucked in. There was a stack of files in his hand that he tossed on to the kitchen table before coming over to greet you.
“Where’s the little gremlin?” John looked around for his daughter.
“Napping. She’s been a menace today. Laughing like a maniac every time I said no and then doing whatever it was right in front of me.” The thought of you dealing with that all day made John chuckle.
“Sounds like she takes after you.” The cheeky comment had you dodging his hello kiss.
That didn’t seem to deter your husband who pinned your arms to your side from behind and pressed his body against you so you were half leaning over the counter. Your bum was firmly pressed to his crotch while his hands were getting very close to your breasts. John kissed your cheek over and over until he was sick of it and went for the other one. He picked you up slightly, your feet hovering a few inches above the floor as he continued his assault.
“Let go.” You giggled and wiggled in John’s grasp.
“DADDY!!” The sound of your son shrieking had John dropping you and full on sprinting for the door.
You were right behind, your chest tight and an instant panic kicking in. Jj was sweet and a tough little boy. He hardly screamed unless it was from laughter. The only times he screamed your names was when Evelyn was taking his toys or the few times she bit him. This type of scream was very uncommon. Your son sounded scared.
You and John were running like hell to your son who was much farther away from the house than he was normally allowed. The rule was if you weren’t outside with him he was not allowed near the pond or past the soccer net. Right now he was at the edge of the forest stumbling back to his feet.
“Are you okay.” John had his hands on Jj grabbing his shoulders and jostling him around to look at him.
Jj was covered in mud but only on the front of him. It looked like he must have belly flopped into a puddle or something.
“Molly chased a fox into the woods! YOU HAVE TO GET HER!” Throwing his head back Jj began to wail.
Fat tears rolled down his face and he plopped down to the ground on his bum and weeped pathetically into his hands.
“Molly’s mummy would be worried about her!” Jj shrieked and tugged at his hair realizing this all of a sudden.
You had just caught up at this point catching the latter half of the conversation. That’s when you saw Molly dive through the woods seemingly chasing after something. If she was to get lost in there you weren’t sure you and John would be able to find her. Without thinking you took off into the woods after Molly. You followed the sounds of her barking. Ducking under branches and leaping over fallen trees you followed after her as fast as your legs would take you. Eventually you saw her again growling and barking up a tree a good distance into the woods.
“Gotcha!” You scooped the pup up into your arms. You were huffing and puffing trying to catch your breath. Turning back you realized you couldn’t see your house anymore.
“Oh, fuck.” You turned back around trying to see if there were any land markers so you could find your way back.
You couldn’t hear or see it but Jj was now lying on the ground crying hysterically at John. John was doing his best to try and calm the four year old down.
“We lost mummy and Molly!!” Jj could barely see straight with how the tears blurred his eyes.
“They’re not lost.” John glanced back at the house.
This was not a good situation for him. Jj was probably right and you were lost in the woods, that would be so like you. The only thing stopping John from going and finding you was the fact Evelyn would be left by herself in the house while she napped. But John knew the worst thing that could happen was she cried waiting for you to come get her. Picking up the sobbing four year old John began his trek through the woods to find you.
It didn’t take long you were about a quarter mile in the woods sitting on a fallen tree holding Molly.
“MOLLY!” Jj wiggled aggressively until John placed him on his feet.
Sprinting over Jj slammed into your thigh and started hugging the sleeping puppy.
“Molly I’ll never lose you again!” Your little boy started to cry half way through his sentence. Laying his head on her soft fur he began to weep all over again.
“I’m sorry Molly’s mummy! I’ll keep her safe!” Jj cried into her fur, a guilt you didn’t realize he was carrying spilling out.
“Found you quick.” John placed a kiss to your head and then squatted down to hug Jj.
You wrapped John and your little boy up in a hug as he continued to cry until he was too tired to walk back. John carried the now sleeping Jj while you carried Molly.
“I’m surprised I found you so quick.” John spoke softly as you made your trek back to the house.
“I decided to just sit down and wait for you. I thought if I tried to find my way back I’d only get more lost.” You shrugged.
“He’s so much like you Y/N.” John whispered and placed a soft kiss to the top of Jj’s sleeping head.
“You think?” You asked wondering what John meant.
“Crying over Mollys mum maybe being worried about her. I would’ve never thought that way as a kid. But you? That’s all you. The caring so deeply it leaves you guilt ridden.” Johns words made your heart swell. It felt amazing to be seen on such a vulnerable level and how your son had inherited some of your traits.
By the time you were back at the house Jj was waking up and asking for a snack. You sat him at the kitchen table and gave him apple slices and peanut butter. You and John realized quickly that the snacks you gave Jj were shared with Molly. So now you had to make sure every snack was dog friendly.
“Jj I’ve got a question for you.” John asked his puffy eyed little boy.
Jj hummed devouring his snack and getting peanut butter all over his face. Molly was lying just beneath his feet chomping on an apple slice.
“What do you think about Molly’s mummy? You bring her up a lot.” Sitting next to his son John took one of the apple slices and ate it.
“She would want Molly to run and play all the time, eat the best treats, learn stuff like how to sit and shake. She’d want Molly to have the comfiest bed and all the snuggles in the world.” Speaking with his mouth full Jj pretended to drop another apple slice that was quickly eaten by his best friend sitting under his feet that didn’t reach the floor.
“Why do you say that?” John followed up.
Jj paused for a second and looked up at John and then at you. You were standing on the other side of the kitchen getting lunch ready. John’s line of questioning had you curious to hear what your son was thinking.
“If Mollys mummy took me, mummy would want her to do stuff like take me to the trampoline park and get us fancy peanut butter. Or special snuggles, big fat kisses, and let me and Evie sleep in her bed sometimes.” Jj waved around his apple slice dipped in the brown sweetness.
You squeaked lightly hearing your son’s words. It was involuntary how tears welled in your eyes and a rock formed in your throat. Your lip began to quiver knowing that’s how your little boy saw you. That you would want only the best for him and he knew that. Taking a deep breath that came in rather sharp you wiped your eyes quickly.
“I love you more than anything in the world Jonathan.” You were making your way over to your son and soon hugging him tight and placing kiss after kiss to his cheek.
Jj giggled and tried batting you away. Giving up he hugged you back his sweet laugh filling the kitchen.
“Seeeeee mummy gives me snuggles.” Jj stuck his tongue out at John who was chuckling at you two.
“Good lad.” John ruffled the little boys hair and then plucked an apple slice with extra peanut butter and gave it to Molly.
——————
“MUSH!” The Price children shouted in unison.
Jj and Evelyn Price were sat on the bright blue sled at the top of the small hill to the right of their homes driveway. It slopped down and became flat for about twenty yards before the thicket of trees that hid the property from the street. Jj had tied Molly’s leash to the end of the sled so she could pull them down the hill. Molly was officially full grown at 32lbs and spry. Today was her birthday making her a year old.
Jj, who was almost five, was dressed in a red snow suit with the hood up and pulled tight. He had lime green mitten on and matching boots. Evelyn, a few weeks away from being three, was dressed in a pastel purple snow suit with a pink scarf and hat snuggly on. She refused to put her hood up and wore Jj’s old dark blue boots that were a size too big.
“Jj!” Evelyn whined at the fact Molly wasn’t moving.
“Molly, mush!” Jj tried again, kicking his feet.
Molly looked back at Jj and then squatted and peed. It had become obvious over the year together Molly was sweet but not the smartest dog. Jj would become shrill whenever John called her dumb. But even he at times blankly stared at her when she ran into the glass door for the hundredth time.
“Ew.” Evelyn’s nose scrunched.
“Wait here, I have an idea!” Jj got off the sled and ran over to where you and John were shoveling the driveway.
It was a snow day for daycares and schools leaving you and the children home for the day. John called out saying he had family matters to attend to which was truly playing with the kids in the snow. You two just had to get the long drive way cleared first.
“Where are you going?” Sticking his shovel into the snow John watched Jj hop off the small mound of snow forming along the driveway as you two shoveled.
“Mummy I need a tennis ball.” Jj ran straight into you, his feet catching on some ice and unable to stop himself.
“Careful.” You slipped at the force but caught yourself before you took Jj down with you. Reaching into your pocket you gave Jj the tennis ball you grabbed before heading outside.
“Thanks!” Grabbing it with both mittened hands Jj turned and went to run back to Evelyn. She was lying down flat in the sled with her tongue stuck out trying to catch snow flakes.
Jj took two steps away from you then slipped and fell backwards. Before you or John could ask if he was alright he was slipping while he got back to his feet and was off running again.
“Evie look!” Jj waved the tennis ball around.
Still lying on her back Evelyn turned her head to look at her brother. Once again Jj tripped a few feet away from the sled and face planted into the snow. Lifting his head up with a face covered in snow Jj watched the bright green tennis ball begin to roll down the hill. Evelyn sat up quickly to check on Jj.
“You oka-“ Evelyn began to ask but went flying backward hitting her head off the sled.
The tennis ball rolled right past Molly and she took off after it. In her haste the sled slowed her for only a second so she pulled harder to catch up to the bright green ball quickly rolling down the hill.
“MUMMY!” Evelyn shrieked at the top of her lungs.
Her tiny mittened hands gripped the edges of the sled as the sky and tree tops whizzed by. The uneven grooves of snow sent her small body bouncing up in the air and colliding back down against the plastic of the sled.
“EVIE!” Jj was scrambling to his feet and began chasing after the sled as it flew down the hill with Molly still pulling it.
The sound of crunching snow echoed in the little boys ears as he ran after his baby sister. He was running extremely fast in his mind and would catch up to her in no time.
The screams caught you and John’s attention. It was comical to watch the sled lurch forward and then take off down the hill quickly behind Molly. Jj was running so slow you wondered if he was even trying. After a few steps he fell face first into the snow again so hard he slid down the hill a couple feet.
John dropped his shovel and ran after Molly and Evelyn before she was dragged to the street. You made your way over to Jj who was struggling to get up after falling so many times.
“You okay?” Jj heard your voice over his shoulder.
He stayed laying there face first in the snow not willing to get up yet.
“Yes.” His sweet voice was muffled against the snow.
With a small laugh you picked him up and set him back on his feet. Jj’s cheeks were tinted from the cold snow that you were brushing away. He could feel it sticking to his eyelashes but you soon had those cleaned off too. Looking to the bottom of the hill Jj saw his father walking up the hill with Evelyn on his hip and the sled under his other arm. Molly was trotting behind, jumping and trying to take the tennis ball Evelyn was holding.
“Smart idea, Jj.” John praised as he made it to where you and Jj were.
“You okay Evie!?” Jj asked clearly worried.
“That. Was. WICKED!” Throwing her hands into the air you and John laughed at her reaction.
“I’ll stand at the bottom of the hill and your mum will get you two set up.” John placed Evelyn down and then handed you the sled.
“Really!?” Jj was now bouncing up and down at the prospect of you and John joining in on the fun.
“And then when we’re done with sledding we can build a snowman.” You added which had Evelyn cheering.
“I want to build a snow dog so Molly can have a friend!”
——————
“How you feeling little man?” John was just walking into Jj’s room.
Jj who was now six had caught the flu and was held up in bed. He was curled up under his blankets with a pile of tissues sitting on his night stand and a few had fallen to the floor.
As soon as John opened the door Molly busted through with so much force the door slammed into the wall. She dashed across the room and jumped into Jj’s bed not caring if she squished him in the process. Standing over the boy she frantically licked his face which made him squirm and giggle.
“Someone missed you and I thought you could use a buddy.” It made John’s heart flutter seeing how much Molly and Jj meant to each other.
Molly had been whining at the bottom of the stairs all day wanting someone to open the gate and let her upstairs. Evelyn entertained her for a little but they both grew bored of one another. You tried to take Molly for a walk but two steps out of the door Molly became a statue. She pointed herself towards the house and you knew it was because she wanted Jj to walk her, not you.
“You sick of Evie? She can be a pill can’t she.” Jj ruffled the scuff of Mollys fur while he spoke in a mock deep voice.
“Get some sleep.” John gave Jj a kiss to the top of the head and the ruffled Mollys head.
Molly circled a few times and then laid herself on top of Jj’s legs. The two fell asleep quickly and Jj was finally able to get the rest he needed.
——————
It was quiet, much quieter than John was use to. The kids and you must be out shopping or running errands. This was a rare occasion and John was ready to seize his moment of solitude. So he thought this would be a good time to make himself a sandwich.
Piling the lunch meat high and adding an extra slice of cheese John squished the sandwich down enjoying the sound of the crisps crunching between the bread. Next John poured himself a glass of milk to go along with the blueberry danish he grabbed as dessert. Setting off to the living room John placed his plate and cup on the coffee table.
Molly who had gotten a bit rounder over the years was napping on the chaise lounge of the U shaped couch. John use to shoo her off furniture and usher her over to her dog bed but had given up in recent years. The children invited her on the couch or their beds whenever he wasn’t in the room. You had even joined in, having Molly nap with you on the couch or in bed when John was abroad.
“John.” Your voice called from the back door as soon as John turned on the television.
Falling back into the cushions John groaned in disappointment. He almost got away with having a snack, that you considered a full meal, by himself. Looking down at the delicious sight in front of him John sighed and accepted defeat. Now he would be sharing this with his kids once they saw it.
“Coming.” John called back.
Getting up from the couch John made his way to the kitchen. He saw your kids carrying a large brown paper grocery bag each. That’s when John remembered you asked him what he needed from the grocery store before he headed out that morning.
“Thank you, darling.” John gave you a sweet peck to the lips.
He hated shopping and it was especially difficult with the kids. They were either at each other’s throats or asking for everything they knew they couldn’t have and whining about it. It almost always ended in a quiet car ride home because John demanded silence and if there was a single peep there’d be consequences.
“Can you two go clean up the yard toys please?” You asked your children as you began to put away the groceries.
“No.” Evelyn spoke sweetly, smiled and began to walk down the hall toward the living room.
“Oi, don’t be cheeky and go pick up the toys.” John was flabbergasted by her response.
“Why ask if I don’t have a choice.” Turning on her heels the sweet demeanor flipped to a sour one.
“You’d rather I boss you around?” You asked unable to hold back your laugh.
“I’d rather not do it at all.” Evelyn grumbled, slipping her shoes back on and heading out the back door.
“Molly!” Jj called from the back door for her to come join them outside.
“Think she’s napping.” John told his son only to eat his words.
Molly appeared at the end of the hallway and slowly, very slowly, made her way out the back door to join Evelyn and Jj.
“Think she can walk any slower?” You asked John who just walked in with the rest of the groceries bags hugged to his chest.
“Laziest dog I’ve ever met. To think we were going to use her for herding.” John chuckled.
Placing the bags on the counter John dipped out to grab his food and eat in the kitchen. That way he could chat with you and still enjoy his snack. Entering the living room John wasn’t sure what he was expecting now that he thought about.
His plate was licked clean and even his glass of milk was drank.
“No wonder she was moving so slow.”
——————
“MOLLY!” John’s voice echoed in the house as he shouted like a banshee.
“Jesus, John you’re going to burst a blood vessel.” You had waddled into the kitchen from the living room at the sound of your husband losing his mind.
You were eight months pregnant and feeling irritable with your husband today. John hadn’t done anything but for some reason just the sight of him had been ticking you off since this morning. Once you saw what he was shouting about you felt your blood pressure spike.
“MOLLY!” You shrieked.
The shoe rack you kept by the back door was flipped over and every pair of shoes had been torn to shreds. Molly didn’t discriminate. She went for your heels, sneakers, slippers, and crocs. The kids shoes and Evelyn’s ballet slippers were decimated. John’s boots, trainers, and a few hats were also casualties.
“That damn dog!” Picking up the sole to his expensive dress shoe John flung it forcefully at the tattered remains of hundreds of dollars of shoes.
“I’ll go find her.” You stopped John from storming upstairs and shouting even more.
“Why weren’t you watching her?” John hissed in your face.
“Why weren’t you watching her!” You snapped back.
“I was busy!” You knew it was just a fit of rage that John was turning on you but you didn’t appreciate it. As if on cue your little girl kicked in your belly as you prepared to verbally eviscerate your husband.
“Yeah, and I was over in the corner twiddling my thumbs! Oh wait I was cleaning your mess in the living room with swollen fucking ankles.” Your venom had John putting up his hands as if saying he gave up and then he took a deep breath.
“Sorry. Let’s go find her and make sure she didn’t eat any of this. Then it’ll be a vet bill on top of it all.” John gave you an apologetic smile and hugged you to say sorry.
His hands rubbed your large belly and lingered on the little feet kicking away.
You stood there with your arms crossed over your chest and refused to hug him back. With a kiss to your lips that you didn’t return you both made your way up to Jj’s room where Molly most likely was. Once up on the second floor and down the hallway you could see Jj’s door was shut which was unusual.
Everyone in the house kept their bedroom doors open unless they were changing or sleeping. Knocking firmly John didn’t wait for a response and tried to open the door. Only it didn’t budge.
“Jj you can’t hide her in there.” Rattling the door by the knob John then knocked again a little louder.
There was silence behind the door. You and John shared a look and then you nodded for him to go ahead. With the tips of his finger John searched the top of the door frame for the skeleton key you hid up there. The sound of the key turning in the lock finally elicited a response from the eight year old.
“IM NAKED!” Jj blurted out as you and John entered his room.
Jj was standing on the far left corner of his bedroom fully clothed. His bed bisected the room blocking you or John from getting to him quickly. The closet door popped open for a second but Jj casually leaned against it.
“What’s in there?” The gravel in John’s voice rumbled from his chest.
The look John was giving his son had Jj gulping in suspense. The young boy was trying his best to stay straight faced but he realized how much better his sister was in moments like this.
“Nothing.” It surprised you how smoothly Jj spoke.
“You sure about that?” You followed up.
Jj wouldn’t even look at you. It was one thing to fib to his father but it felt impossible for him to do it to you.
“Jonathan, look at me.” You told him sweetly.
John was slowly rounding the bed. Jj had his eyes locked on his father. Slowly he pressed his back fully against the door no longer pretending like he wasn’t hiding anything. With a frown on his face Jj apprehensively looked at you who was nodding your head for him to give up.
“We just want to check if she’s okay. We’ve never punished her before and we aren’t going to start now.” Trying to reassure Jj didn’t seem to work.
“Whatever it is she didn’t do it.” Jj blurted out at John who was now standing directly in front of the boy.
Realizing he had lost Jj decided he wouldn’t go down without a fight. Grabbing the door knob Jj rushed forward opening the door behind him. Throwing himself at John Jj bear hugged his father pinning his arms to his sides.
“RUN MOLLY!” Jj shouted holding on as tight as possible so John couldn’t run after her or free his arms right away.
When Jj realized his father wasn’t struggling he looked up at him. John’s icy eyes looked amused and he had an eyebrow quirked down at the eight year old.
“I commend your tenacity.” John chuckled and then nodded with his chin for Jj to turn around.
Letting go slowly Jj then turned quickly to look at Molly. Molly was lying at the bottom of Jj’s closest chewing on his brand new football cleats.
“MOLLY!”

Zhizhaf (Chill)
“There’s the last of it,” Kara said cheerfully, dimming down her heat vision in order to hand Lena her hot cocoa. “No more heat vision until we get back on Earth.”
“So we really don’t have to worry about that asteroid field?” Alex asked.
The four sat in a circle on the floor of J’onn’s cruiser - Kara, Lena, Alex, and Kelly all facing one another, piled onto pillows and blankets as their ship made its way through space. J’onn had been kind enough to let the four borrow his ship for the journey to Argo, taking about a day - longer than the last time Kara went, to avoid stressing the engines - for a trip to Kara’s homeland.
Unlike Kara’s first time aboard the cruiser, J’onn had made considerable improvements, allowing it to have a bigger interior than her first trip to Argo or Mars. There were controls facing out towards windows of endless darkness, a small area with a TV and couches and blankets that also served as a place to sleep, a storage closet with leftover supplies, and a small bathroom. Finally, the back of the ship had a small airlock, leading to the exit.
(Kara had suggested making it a convertible car like her trip to Mars, but she was soundly outvoted.)
“J’onn’s ship can navigate the asteroid field automatically,” Kara shrugged. “Besides, I don’t trust your flying.”
“Hey, I saved you after you threw Fort Rozz into space,” Alex said back. “In your own pod.”
“This ship is bigger! And there were no asteroids!”
“Earth is surrounded by debris-”
“Maybe we can watch a movie,” Kelly grinned, eyeing Lena across the way, who was holding back a laugh at the bickering sisters. “We brought a copy of Die Hard with us.”
The group agreed - aside from Kara murmuring The Mummy is better under her breath - as the group repositioned their nest of blankets and pillows. Kelly grabbed the DVD, popping it into the TV before snuggling up against Alex and reaching for the remote.
Lena, in turn, snuggled up against Kara - causing the kryptonian’s heart to skip a beat. Keep it together, Kara thought, we’re just friends.
But before Kelly could press play, Lena interrupted. “Guys? Should that be happening?”
The group turned, following Lena’s gaze to the windows ahead, where a small layer of ice was forming at the rims. “That’s not good,” Alex said, as the four shuffled to their feet.
They approached the screens of the ship controls, as Lena began to tap away. “Flow is normal in all steam pipes,” Lena said, “No sign of a leak or reduced gas pressure-”
“But the temperature’s dropping fast,” Kelly murmured, rubbing at her arms as Alex stepped in to warm her. “Something isn’t right.”
“Our course is off,” Alex said, nodding towards a neighboring screen. “We still have the same plot mapped, but we’re deviating significantly.”
“Because of the asteroids?” Kelly asked.
“This is too far for that,” Lena murmured.
“No…” Kara whispered.
The other three women looked up at the kryptonian, noting her wide eyes and suddenly concerned features. “Kara?” Lena asked.
“We need psychic inhibitors,” Kara said, turning to run towards the storage closet, “Alex, stay at the controls, autopilot might disengage.”
“Kara, what’s happening?” Lena asked, as she and Kelly followed. Kara was already digging into the first box she pulled down.
“We need three psychic inhibitors, you guys need to start looking,” she said frantically, as Kelly pulled down a second box and began her search.
“Three? You don’t need one?” Lena asked, pulling down a third box.
“You don’t,” Kara said, refusing to meet Lena’s eyes as she was digging. “You might be the only one left sane in a moment.”
“What are you-”
“Found one,” Kelly said, holding up the small earpiece.
“Put it on Alex since she’s driving,” Kara said, as Kelly got up.
“Why would I be the only sane one?” Lena asked. “Kara, what’s happening?”
“Zhizhaf-shed,” Kara said gravely, shoving her box aside to grab another. “I thought they were a myth.”
“I don’t know what that means-”
“They’re-” Kara hesitated, avoiding looking Lena in the eye. “They’re sirens.”
“Sirens,” Kelly said, returning to continue digging through another box. “Mythological creatures that sing to men at sea, so they can crash their ships into the rocks?”
“Kryptonians have a similar legend, about psychic attacks, making people euphoric enough to run out the airlocks,” Kara said. Lena pulled out a second psychic inhibitor, to Kara’s great relief. “Give it to Kelly,” Kara said, watching as Lena passed the device and Kelly attached it to her head.
“Aren’t you immune from psychic attacks?” Lena asked worriedly, continuing to dig into a box.
“Only sometimes,” Alex said from across the room, “Psi was able to break through.”
“How do you know it’s them?” Kelly asked.
“The first sign is a chill coming across the ship,” Kara said, “And then they-”
“Autopilot disengaging!” Alex shouted, “I’m taking over the controls manually.”
“-do that. We don’t have much time,” Kara said, shuffling around the boxes. “We just need one more.”
“Why only one?” Lena said, glancing to the devices on Alex and Kelly’s heads, “Why won’t it affect me?”
“Sirens only, um…” - Kara shifted another box - “They only tempt people who love women.”
Lena and Kelly’s eyes both widened, realizing the additional similarity between Earth and kryptonian sirens. “Then we need two more,” Lena said.
Kara’s head jerked up to Lena. “What are you talking about?”
“We all need them, Kara,” Lena said firmly.
It was Kara’s turn for her eyes to widen-
“Found a third,” Kelly said, holding up a device. Kara muttered something under her breath, grabbing the device from Kelly’s hand, leaning forward to place it on Lena’s temple before she had time to argue. “One more,” Kara said firmly, as they all resumed digging.
But they were out of time.
Lena and Kelly didn’t notice for a moment as they searched - and Alex couldn’t, as she concentrated on navigating the asteroid field, fighting whatever powers were trying to tug the ship off of its path as the air became colder and colder.
But Kara had stilled. “Beautiful…” she murmured.
Lena glanced up, feeling a sinking sensation in her stomach as she looked over at the kryptonian’s blank face. “Kara?”
“Do you hear that?” Kara said, rising to her feet.
“Kara,” Kelly said, glancing worriedly towards Kara before grabbing another box. “Stay with us, Kara.”
“They’re - they’re beautiful,” Kara said, turning, “They’re calling to me…”
Lena tried to tackle her as Kara walked towards the back of the ship, but - even depowered - Kara was simply too strong. “Kara, Kara stay with me-”
“They say I can go home-”
“You are going home!” Lena begged, trying to pull Kara back. “We’re going to Argo, your parents are waiting-”
But it didn’t seem to matter, how hard Lena pulled back on the kryptonian, what she said. Kara’s eyes were far off and glazed over, entranced and distant as she resolutely made her way to the airlock. “They said I don’t have to be alone anymore,” Kara said.
“Kara-”
Kara pushed Lena back, bounding towards the airlock switch, tapping at the buttons as Lena shuffled to her feet. “Damn it, Kara, they’re not real!”
Lena’s heart raced as the layer of the airlock opened. I can’t let that close with her on the other side, Lena thought, darting forward to again, trying to come up with a plan that was better than another pathetic attempt at wrestling the kryptonian to the ground.
But nothing occurred to her as she caught up to Kara, grabbing her arm. “Kara, please, don’t!”
“I have to,” Kara murmured.
“Why?!”
“I can have everything,” she replied simply, stepping inside. “I can have what I can’t have.”
“Kara-”
There was no more thought.
There was no more reason. Lena could think of nothing else to do when she surged forward, wrapping her arms around Kara’s neck. Maybe it was some combination of I didn’t know you were into women so now I can put my hat into the ring or just as simple as what if what you want is me. Anything to distract Kara from the siren’s call. Something desperate and stupid.
Lena pressed her lips against Kara’s.
She expected to be thrown back again, shoved aside as Kara finalized the dance of the airlock before losing her life somewhere in space.
But to Lena’s relief, Kara froze. The kryptonian planted a hand on the wall next to the latch, body tense with confusion. Lena pulled back to look into Kara’s eyes, watching as the fog seemed to partially lift. “Lena?” Kara asked, blinking and dazed but somehow more herself.
“I’m here,” Lena said.
But to her horror, the fog seemed to only temporarily clear. Kara’s eyes began to glaze over again as the ship became colder still. Lena was dimly aware of Kara moving to flick the switch of the airlock, of a tap-tap-tap sound approaching behind her, of the kryptonian pushing her away as the trance began to grow again-
Then Lena felt a small push to the side, as Kelly stepped in, pressing a device to Kara’s temple.
Lena sighed in relief.
-----
Kara slept for most of the remaining journey, fitful between stretches of sleep and brief moments to drink some water. “This really wiped her out,” Alex said.
Kara was still shaky when they arrived on Argo, though her grogginess faded faster - by the time they were all sitting for a meal with Alura and Zor-El, she had mostly recovered from the stressful ordeal. Warm hugs and introductions were exchanged, stories told over the evening as the group settled in for their stay.
But Kara had not once met Lena’s eyes.
Evening became night - dishes were cleaned, bags were placed in guest rooms, and Kara excused herself to step outside and watch the starry skies of Argo. I need to clear the air, Lena thought to herself, glancing to the door as Alex and Kelly wandered off to shower and sleep.
Lena stepped outside, grateful that Kara’s parents were content to remain indoors, reading for the evening. She glanced up ahead, watching where Kara stood in a dim garden, leaning on a railing as she watched the sky.
Lena walked forward, fighting the shivers from the cool night, knowing that Kara could hear her padding across the stone steps, before she gingerly stepped to Kara’s side. Lena leaned against the railing, eyes gazing out in the same direction as Kara’s, as they stood in silence.
Lena heard Kara draw in a quiet, resigned breath. “It worked because it was you,” Kara confessed.
“What do you mean?” Lena asked gently.
“The kiss. It woke me up,” Kara said, swallowing nervously. “It’s- it’s not just that you’re a woman. It worked because it was you.”
“Oh,” Lena breathed.
“I probably should’ve told you a while ago,” Kara murmured. “How I felt. I didn’t expect…”
Kara trailed off, shuffling nervously on her feet. Lena placed a comforting hand on her arm. “It’s certainly not how I imagined our first kiss,” Lena murmured.
That startled Kara enough to finally - finally - meet Lena’s gaze. “You- imagined?”
“For years,” Lena said softly. “Personally, I think we should get a do-over.”
Kara smiled. “Really?”
“Really.”
Kara examined Lena’s face - glanced to her eyes, before dropping to her lips, back up to her eyes again. Lena could see the slight blush on Kara’s cheeks in the dark, and she knew hers were in a matching shade.
Kara moved slowly, tentatively - opening her arms for Lena to step into them, which Lena did. Lena found herself lifting her hands, cupping Kara’s face as the blonde smiled softly back. Tentatively, Kara leaned forward, as Lena tilted her head.
Lips met soft lips, and Lena could feel her heart flutter in her chest, feel Kara’s tension sublimate to eagerness. Lena parted her lips in an invitation that Kara blissfully followed, the blonde tightening her arms around Lena’s waist as Lena’s fingers made their way into Kara’s hair.
And Lena no longer felt the chill of the night.

AN: So i'm hoping to make this a 2 part story if people like this, i'm basing it on a post I saw saying that Geta would treat Y/N like the pharaoh in The Mummy and paint them so nobody else could touch them. This is also my first time writing a fic because I was desperate for more Geta content so any constructive criticism would be nice!
Part Two
Treasure
Geta had always been possessive and selfish, that had been clear throughout his entire life. He detested sharing anything with his brother, Caracalla as they grew up together, whether it was toys, food or even just any basic attention. He despised the fact that he had to share the role of Emperor with him, never feeling that he was fully in control at any given moment, knowing he had to acquiesce some of his power to him. All of his resentment he kept boiling away inside of him, using it to advantage when he needed to intimidate his Generals or even dish out the Emperor’s justice in any way, helping him feed his public image of being a ruthless ruler. All this he used to his advantage whilst he plotted a way to dispose of his brother, he was happy this way, until he saw you.
It was a blazing hot day in the Colosseum, the smell of blood and sweat was full in the air as the Gladiator Games were now in full swing, the roaring of the audience was deafening, you had experienced nothing like this. This was your first time at the arena, your father had delayed on bringing you to watch the games fearing that you would not have the stomach for it, not wanting to jeopardise his ever climbing position by having you faint or scream in disgust in front of the other senators or even the Emperors. As you watch enthralled by the spectacle the sibling Emperors watch on the games with a touch of boredom, drinking their fill of wine to cool down in the hot sun, suddenly Geta’s eyes land on you, enraptured by your visage as if you were the physical embodiment of Venus herself. He leant forward slightly in his chair to gain a better look of you without alerting his brother to what he was so enthralled with. He could not turn his gaze away from the way the light pink tunic hung deftly on your skin, your skin looking so pure and untouched, he almost snarled at the thought of any of these lecherous old senators even thinking to touch you and defile you. Geta subtly heeded over a guard and commanded him to bring you to his palace after the games had finished, his mind no longer on the games as it raced with thoughts of you and how he wanted to keep you all to himself. All his life he had to share with his brother but in this moment, he knew he would do anything to make sure that you were his and his alone.
The games end and everyone begins to pile out of the Colosseum, you follow closely behind your father not wanting to be lost in the crowd. The pair of you begin to approach your carriage and begin the journey home, as you near the carriage door you both become scared and confused as to why two members of the imperial guard are stood at the door. You stand wringing your hands anxiously as one of them whispers in your fathers ear, you watch his eyes go wide and nod obediently at the guard, your father nods for you to enter the carriage and you make the journey to your new destination in silence as your father had commanded.
Once the carriage pulls up at your final destination you step out and are amazed to be at the steps on the imperial palace, your mind races with possibilities, “is this a mistake?” “Are we in trouble?” “has my father upset a powerful senator?” your mind coming up with endless conspiracies as you walk up the steps and enter the palace, none of your thoughts positive. The guards eventually lead you in through the palace and usher you into a room, it is one of the most magnificent rooms you have ever seen, adorned with rich cloth tapestries and a shallow marble pool in the middle of the room to provide an escape from the harsh Rome heat. You approach the man sat in the throne at the far side of the room nervously, waiting for something bad to happen. As you stand at the bottom of the stairs below the throne you notice that the tall statuesque figure looking down at you is none other than Emperor Geta, quickly you lean forward and bow as custom dictates and await his command for you to stand up to address him.
Geta watched you walk into the throne room, his eyes upon your nervous visage, you were like a deer ready to bolt and he was watching you like a lion watches his prey, a predatory look already in his eyes as you approach him. He chuckles softly as he sees you bow once you realise exactly who he is, he stand from his throne and walks towards you, circling you, knowing that he has you in his grasp. Geta eyes your father and speaks in a curt tone “you are dismissed, your presence is not needed here.” Your father attempts to interject however the guards escort him swiftly away and send him home in the carriage you arrived in. Geta walks to stand in front of you, still bowing politely which he found to be endearing, you feel his finger hook underneath your chin as he places pressure against it to pull you up to look into his eyes, you stare at them and notice the possessiveness in them. “what is your name little dove?” Geta demands as he hold your gaze, not letting his hand drop from your chin. “its Y/N, your majesty.” You barely whisper to him, intimidated by his towering presence. He leans his face closer to yours, his voice almost a whisper as you can feel his breath against your lips. “well Y/N, I was completely enraptured by your presence at the games today and I had to bring you here to be mine.” His eyes darken with what you can only imagine to be lust, not knowing the ways of men yet, you gulp softly not knowing what he has in store for you but how could you refuse an Emperor what he wants? Geta looks down at you scanning all the curves of your body, pure and untouched skin, he takes a lock of hair in his hand and plays with it, pulling it up to his lips kissing it and whispering in an uncharacteristic softness. “my treasure.”

cough syrup s.c x child reader!
apart of sunshine series!
plot: you get sick right before a big game
warning: sickness, appendicitis, vomiting, this is literally my experience when I got my appendix removed (I was 6)
You hadn't been feeling good since you got home from Kindergarten, your stomach hurt and your head was pounding, you hadn't even felt the need to eat your lunch Steph made you. You had never felt like this before.
You hadn't talked a lot to your friends or on the way home which was weird since you usually told Steph about your whole day and complained about the boys in your class.
You didn't like them.
"Did Jack annoy you today?"
"Hm" you grunted and Steph just nodded and furrowed her brows, you must be tired she thought.
You ran straight to your room when you got home, Calvin following you as you both sat on a bean bag.
Calvin seemed to know you didn't feel good as he licked your arm, sitting on your lap "Hi Calvy" you sniffled as the dog looked up at you.
Usually when you felt sick you told your mum but all she and all your aunties had been talking about for the last week were the 'conti' cup which you didn't know what it meant but you knew it had to do with her soccer career.
Lara used to talk about it sometimes, but she used a different word for it.
So you stayed quiet, a tear running down your eye every so often as you played with toys in your play house.
Steph noticed your quietness at home and got worried "Sunshine?" she called out to you and you quickly rubbed your eye and turned around with a soft smile "mummy?"
"Did someone say something to you at Kindergarten?" you shook your head "nope" you hummed and turned back to your doll house.
Steph sighed before walking over to you and bending down "you okay Sunshine?" she asked and you faltered, nodding your head quickly after.
Steph knew better.
"Sunshine what did I say about lying" she looked at you sternly before you looked down to your feet "to not do it" you mumbled and she nodded "exactly".
She placed her hand on your forehead before her eyes popped open "Sunshine your head is burning, are you sick?"
You nodded "head and tummy hurts"
"Why didn't you tell me? has it been hurting since Kindergarten?" Steph asked, panic setting in
"You have cunti cup tomorrow!"
Stephs eyes grew wider "Con-ti not..." she sighed "that."
Tears started to roll down your face, not bothering to act anymore "hurts" you whined "everything hurts!"
Steph nodded quickly picking you up "What hurts the most Sunshine?" Steph asked and you pointed to the right end of your stomach
Steph nodded, blowing out air.
She never liked seeing you in pain, and you were really in pain.
"Can I touch it?" Steph asked and you wiped away your tears and nodded.
You let Steph lay you down on the couch, Calvin sitting nearby as she lightly laid her hands on your stomach
"wrong side mummy!"
Steph winced "right, sorry Sunshine" she apologized before moving to your right side, a scream leaving your lips when she applied pressure.
"Hurts" you yell and Steph wiped her forehead "I know honey, I know"
Steph stood up, panic thriving within her body, this wasn't just any stomach bug, should she call the hospital?, local doctors?, Mini?
"Your whines grew as you started to struggle to lay still "Mummy!" you cried as she left to grab her phone "Sunshine did you eat today?"
"Wasn't hungry" you grumbled, laying your hand out for Calvin, hoping he could distract you from the pain in your stomach.
Steph was quick, typing your symptoms into an app she had downloaded since she got you and winced when she saw the answer she begged it wouldn't be.
appendicitis.
Quickly she ran to your room, grabbing more comfortable clothes and a water bottle, running inside the house, lastly grabbing Calvin and putting him outside before grabbing you which you screamed at.
"Where we going?" You asked as tears rolled down your cheeks "We're seeing the doctor" (hospital, but she didn't want to freak you out) she replied and you clung onto her before she reached the car and sat you down in your seat.
She looked up to your tear covered face as she did the buckle "You will be okay Sunshine" she told you, wiping your cheeks before closing the door and running to the drivers seat.
Your whines didn't stop on the way and Steph almost started crying herself, her blood pressure dropping whenever your cries grew louder.
"I called the doctor and we get to go straight in Sunshine" she told you, her voice croaky.
You had become silent now and Steph didn't know if that was better or worse as she parked the car, running out to grab you and go to the front desk.
You had taken yourself out of reality, almost getting used to the pain as you looked around.
Must be a new doctors, you thought as Steph discussed with the lady on the chair before you were placed on an uncomfortable bed and taken to a white and blue room, some painted fishes on the side as well.
Tonight had been a long night.
A man came in with a metal circle thingy as he discussed with Steph, trying to talk to you but you were too scared.
You hadn't made a sound at all until he placed his circle on your stomach, a scream leaving your mouth as he pursed his lips and nodded.
"It's good you came now, before it burst" he informed your mum but you widened your eyes "what?" you ask
burst.
What did that mean.
Steph held your hand, squeezing it tight as the man left again, telling you he would be back quickly
"Sunshine?" Steph called for you as you turned your head, tears falling down "mummy?" you questioned, your voice breaking Steph's heart
"You're going to have a little surgery-" "Lara used to have surgeries!" You tried to get up as you yelled but Steph stopped you, you turned to her again seeing that she also had tears running down her face.
"It's not scary, trust me I've done his before, hey even Calvin's done this before" she said and you relaxed
If Calvin can do it so could you, if Lara did them, so could you.
The doctor came back in, some nurses behind him as they grabbed your bed again, wheeling to another room where the man held a plastic mask.
"Do you like chocolate y/n"?"
You nodded and Steph smiled "chocolates your favourite isn't it Sunshine" You smiled "I like chocolate Ice-cream" you said and the doctor and nurses smiled "this is just like chocolate the man said before passing Steph the mask.
"You trust me Sunshine?" she ask and you nodded, the woman putting the mask around your head as you tasted chocolate, a warm smile coming across your cheeks.
"What about your game?" You mumbled, starting to feel tired
"I'll be with you Sunshine."
When you woke up in your room you were surrounded by a lot of happy aunties with gifts in their hands.
"Did you win cunty cup?"
Steph didn't even bother correcting you this time, just happy you were feeling fine.

All right, back to the pictures from a year ago.
This is a zine job. I chose to illustrate the Mummy in the Orient Express series with the farewell journey of Clara and the Twelfth Doctor. Of course, I've twisted the plot of the painting. This time the Doctor sees the mummy first and he doesn't have the same time margin as in canon. The mummy only appears to those who are under great stress or experiencing loss, which can be attributed to the Doctor because he is saying goodbye to Clara. Of course, here we can talk about why not Clara then but let that be willed. I would have sent the Doctor away a long time ago if I were Clara, especially after the Luna incident. But there they have a co-dependent relationship and they're worth each other. Although when I watched the series as a kid, I didn't think there was any romantic relationship at all between the Doctor and his travelling companions, whoa. (Using a machine translator)

Do you have dad Beel headcanons?
Nope but I do now!
Beel as a Dad HCs
- he won’t go anywhere without the baby carrier. Refuses to ever use a pram because why would he when he can just have the little bub in front of him the whole time?
- has to “taste test” every food the baby tries
- “MC I think we should have another baby” “Beel I literally only gave birth ten days ago”
- always looks after MC and does things for her “from Beel and the baby” (I.e makes breakfast in bed)
- talks to the baby as if they can understand him. Has full blown conversations. “Look, your uncle Satan has come to see you!” “Doesn’t your Mummy look beautiful?”
- feels so proud when the bub finishes all of their food
- let’s the baby sleep on his chest when it’s nap time
- nap time ends up being his favourite time of the day because of that
- tries to tell bedtime stories but forgets the plot so just makes it’s up as he goes (most of the time it turns into the story of how he met MC)
- whenever somebody else holds the baby, he sits there really impatient because that’s his baby, he wants to hold him/her!
- gets really sad whenever the baby cries
- always compliments MC and tells them what a great parent they are
- he can’t even begin to think about his life before becoming a father. He couldn’t imagine a world without his little bundle of joy
- when the baby grows up into a toddler, he ditches the baby carrier and just carries the toddler on his shoulders everywhere
- always takes the toddler away when the brothers are arguing because he doesn’t want them growing up surrounded by hatred
- thanks MC every day for making him a Dad

Could you do fic for Checo Perez with wife reader? He was doing PR things with Max and she was just watching from the background with their kids.. He constantly broke whatever things they gave him and she was having a great time watching it, much to the horror of the staff. Their kids eventually crashed one of the Red Bull's video and chaos ensured. While Max just encourages them. Just something fluff and cute. Thanks!! :))
Honey, they’re going to be the death of me - Sergio Perez x Wife!Reader
Plot:

It was a Thursday, typical media day in the world of F1 and today Sergio your husband had asked you to bring the kids along. Usually you showed them round the city you were in while he was off with the team filming stuff for whatever was needed of him by the social media team. But he wanted to see you today.
You had your 7 year old boy Diego who was the best older brother to his two younger siblings and he was currently watching his two little sister in the garage. He hadn’t taken to Sergios love of karting, finding the loud noises of the karts irritating and found a love for football instead.
The middle child, Isabella who is 5 had really gotten into Karting, loving the smell around the garage and was born on a very special race weekend, one where you husband was on the top step of the podium. She’s naturally taken to the car and was already looking at competing in the next few years when she got a little older.
Then there was Alexandria, the youngest who was still just a baby in yours eyes at age 2. She was so young that she hadn’t really taken in any footpath yet but was so very clearly a mummy’s girl. Just like her older brother.
Where you rarely had the kids in the paddock because of how busy it gets and you never wanted them to feel overwhelmed you just never really brought them. However this time Sergio was adamant that they come.
You were sat in the RedBull hospitality watching while Sergio and Max did loads of different team challenges. One where they were blindfolded with a mock track and a hot wheels car and had to guess which track it happened to be. Of course your husband split the pieces of track up from pushing the car to roughly before letting the small toy car slide off the table, a wheel popping off as it hit the floor.
The next thing they were given was a whiteboard and pen to film a top 3 video where they were asked what they’re top 3 things were.
So top three tracks, and Sergio answered with Mexico City, Spa and Baku.
But of course he also broke the pen, for the whiteboard pressing it to hard into it as he was concentrating on drawing a small image asked for.
You were loving watching him just look at Max with that blank confused expression as he showed the broken object to him in concern only for Max to start laughing, to the point he would sometimes choke.
Your kids were also finding there dads frustrations very amusing which was mainly why you were finding this as amusing as you were.
However, you turn away for one second to look at your phone, a text from your mum wondering how the kids were getting on at the track. A quick reply explaining to her it was hard to tell right now as the cars haven’t even started going round the track yet so you have no idea how bored they’re going to get.
In that one second, Max has beckoned your children over, and who are they to deny their beloved uncle Max, and the chaos has begun.
When you turn back round Diego has his face in the camera that they’re using to film. Isabella is sat on the floor under the table playing with the car and track that your husband had broken not so long ago. And then Alexandria was now sat in Max lap, yapping in her two year old way that made sort of sense but when you really listened was just a load of toddler mashup.
“What does this do?” Diego asked looking into the lenses of the camera while playing with the toggle on the side. The Young awkward intern next to the camera doesn’t really know how to reply and looks at you for help. While the other tries to coax Isabella from out under the table with more cars but off to the side away from filming. And eventually Max gets up to start tossing your daughter up in the air and her shrieks and shrills start to echo in the room.
“Sergio” you exclaim to your husband who isn’t helping whatsoever as you try to calm all three children down.
“Honey they’re going to be the death of me” Sergio replies.
“I’m so so sorry” you say to the intern as you finally manage to pull your son away from the camera. But just as you stopped one child the other two start. Max starts to chase them round the room and Sergio attempts to stop Max but he’s enjoying this just as much as the kids.
“Max” you exclaim trying to get him to stop while your son stays at your side cuddling into you laughing at his sisters.
“Look Mamá” Diego points, seeing Christian slip into the corner of the room. He has a confused look on that stern face of his making you walk over to start to profusely apologise.
“I-I’m so sorry. I’m not meaning for them to take up your work day” you exclaim, sending a look to Sergio to try and stop Max from messing about with your daughters, but now Deigo has also joined in now that you’ve left. But instead of being chased by Max, he is now chasing his sisters alongside Max.
“It’s more than okay, it’s nice to see all of them having fun” he grins watching his staff try to calm everyone in the room down.
“They look more stressed than having fun” you giggle watching the team members all start to stop the chaos.
“Mmmmm no that’s most definitely fun” he says taking another look at the staffs faces loosening up the more they realise they cannot stop the chaos that is your three children.
Sergio comes over, pulling you in for a kiss, nuzzling into you when he pulls you into a hug.
“We’ve raised little nightmares” he chuckles. Watching the staff members slowly start to give in to what your children are doing and slowly starting to help Max play around.
“That we have” you sigh watching everything unfold, as more things in the room get moved and more things get grabbed that were supposed to be used for the video.
You couldn’t help but sit back and watch with Christian and Sergio, his one arm wrapped around you.

Cass found you healing. There was something about you that healed a part of her that nobody else ever could. Maybe it was her mummy issues, or maybe it was genuinely your loving personality; either way, it didn't matter. You were soothing and patient with her. You even taught her how to speak, read, and write.
She came to the startling realisation she loved you at her family Christmas gathering. You weren't just a friend. You had stopped being a friend in her mind long ago, but she never addressed those feelings. It was safer to keep it all bottled up. She would come back to it another day, like rejecting a phone update until it finally automatically updates. She'll deal with it eventually.
Well, eventually happened.
It started when Steph and Babs both made a joke about the two of you being a lesbian couple. Cass and you both froze in place. Neither of you knew what to do, but your gay panic barrelled through you like a gun to your head.
You had quickly signed something Cass couldn't catch to Steph, who paled and also began to slightly panic. What started as an innocent joke suddenly became a massive plot twist between the two.
Steph. Was. Mortified. She would later brag she is the reason you two got together and that she saw it all along (falsely, as well), but that moment had her horrified. She did not anticipate that she would ever have to deal with this being a possibility. Girls are always close. Why would you two be any different?
She had to wheel Babs far, far away, and have a panicked conversation, which Helena joined in as well with wide eyes.
Barbara was on the gay train immediately and was coming up with plans and bouncing ideas off of the other girls. What do they do? Does Cass know? Is Cass gay? Their heads were spinning. She hadn't considered that any of them could be gay. Well, except Tim, but his relationship with Kon has been so well-established that they don't feel like a gay couple anymore.
Helena "what do you mean she's gay" Wayne was floored. Now she was invested. She needed to study you both before deciding if this was an actual thing yet or not.
The girls all watched you two carefully. Tim joined in quickly as he understood and also became invested. He dragged Kon into it, too, but told him to let the detectives work after Kon complained and told them to leave you two alone.
You tried to act oblivious to their obvious growing group staring you both down. Not cool, Steph.
You glared at Steph, who looked away but looked back again once your gaze was back on Cass. Your gaze softened as you looked at Cass. Your sweet, beautiful, best friend. You'd give anything for her.
Cass was incredibly confused, but she was happy. She wanted to cuddle on the coach, and you laughed your agreement. This was the moment she knew she had feelings for you: cuddling on the coach, watching a terrible Christmas movie, and having hushed conversations with you. You both had content smiles on your faces.
She had blushed hard when you kissed her forehead, but she looked at you like Cupid just hit her with an arrow, and you looked at her like she held your heart in her hands.
The girls (plus Tim and an uninterested Kon) needed to strike. How? Mistletoe? There was no guarantee you wouldn't cop-out and kiss her cheek. They didn't know. They asked Tim how he managed to date Kon, and he shrugged,
"I decided we're dating one day, and then we started dating. I suspect M'gann did something, but I don't know."
Kon shook his head, but he didn't know either, so he let Tim's explanation go by without comment. Tim gave a thoughtful expression. He didn't know what they should do. Kon said plainly,
"We could tell Jason to force them to kiss."
Jason narrowed his eyes at the group. He heard his name amongst the growing group of siblings despite being on the other side of the room.
"What are you idiots scheming?"
He actively had to walk past you and Cass to join the group, but as he passed, he, too, noticed the cuddling duo. He stared for a moment before you tell him to fuck off and he heads back to his scheming siblings.
"We're trying to get these two together. Can you help us?"
Jason crossed his arms while casting his gaze back to you both. He took note how at peace Cass seemed in your arms. She seemed serene and the way she looked at you... Well, it looks like she's in love.
Jason gave a resigned sigh. Even he can see the clear love and devotion.
"What do you need me to do?"
He tried to look disgruntled, but he couldn't hide how curious he was. He watched his siblings carefully. What are they thinking?
"It's not a good idea. Kon wanted to make you force them to kiss. He doesn't trust his superstrength."
Kon shrugged. He's not the brains when it comes to human interactions. Tim and him are both awkward and he struggles with what's normal still.
They watched Cass giggle as you rolled her on top of you for her to sleep. You smiled fondly and gave her a quick forehead kiss. She blushed with a grin on her face. Friends kiss, right? You run your hands along her back and whisper to her,
"I got you."
The evening was surprisingly quiet. Suspiciously quiet. Your eyes landed on the group gathering and narrowed in suspicion. Almost everyone was gathered now and whispering with quick glances your way.
Cass felt so at ease. It was like her heart beat your name. She did consider that you might be more than a friend, but she didn't know how you felt. Sure, you kissed her and cuddled her whenever she asked and you were always respectful by asking before touching her, but you were so close that it makes sense how you'd act. She said in a small voice,
"I have a question."
She took a deep breath to steady her voice, burying her face in your neck. She doesn't want to see your face when you end the friendship.
"Are we... more than friends?"
The silence she received concerned her. She pulled away and looked at you anxiously. After another pause, you asked,
"Would you want to be more than friends?"
Cass nodded. She isn't sure she'd ever survive without your soft forehead kisses and cuddling feels so right. You smiled at her and said in a cheeky tone,
"I guess we're dating then, Miss Cain."
Cass immediately kissed you. You were her salvation and her inner peace. It felt amazing to kiss you like girlfriends. It felt like she could fully relax now that the uncertainty was removed.
The kiss was long and full of love. It spoke all the words she never said and all the pining you both had for each other.
When you pulled back, you both giggled. Your hushed confession of love was for only her ears, but that didn't stop the rest of them trying to listen.
Cass was equally quiet as she whispered to you,
"I love you. You're my saviour."
You kissed her again and raised your middle finger to the group you knew were watching. You love this woman with everything in your heart.
Dick had no clue. He came out from the kitchen with Alfred and both men stopped as they saw the scene. You and Cass kissing, a large group trying (and failing) to pretend they aren't watching. You gave them the middle finger after a while of staring and a couple of photos taken.
Alfred looked relieved, but Dick felt betrayed. Cass never told him she's gay. He's the first one everyone goes to for their problems and secrets. He knew Tim was bisexual long before everybody else, he knows Jason reads fanfiction (he snooped on his phone and found Wattpad downloaded), he knows Damian has hidden a pet fox in his room, he knows everything about everyone except Cass. Cass never went to him, and she rarely caused trouble (that she gets caught doing). Why didn't she want to tell him she's gay? Did she not know until you?
Bruce came down the stairs and also took in the scene. He had a feeling he had more gay kids. He wasn't sure who it was, but it makes sense that it would be Cass. She kept all her cards to her chest, only revealing things as needed. He should have seen it sooner.
Neither of you cared what the family thought. It was only putting a label on mutual feelings that were ignored for far too long.
