decided that 2024 is about effing time to create an art-ish-adjacent piece, so I sat down to make myself an original logo type thing

I decided to go for a cat face (for, well, obvious reasons), but with a twist - half of it is made with only neat, straight lines, while the other half is much more chaotic. So far I only got the draft of the first half:

and for now I'm still wondering what do I want for the other half. So far I'm thinking about much less grid-dependant outline, that will probably be drawed with a crimson red graffitti styled brush

#of course that's only a very rough draft lacking background texture and brush gradients and a lot of other stuff #I basically made it in an hour or two using GIMP and spamming Image Guides every 27 pixels (2.5% of 1080px canvas)#but honestly? this feels like a right way to go from here #and if you're wondering “why split this in half and have those two halves contradict so much?”#...that's symbolism for you.#and why crimson red? because I love crimson red! it's my favourite colour after all

Shout-out to everyone who survived a "fun" easter with the family

#fucking hell #it started with finding out my dad smoked in my car when I picked up my sister #who was equally dreading the day #my mum turns into the world's tensest and judgemental presence. worsened by my aunt #then hell for autistic people (of which there are multiple present)#multiple deaf people means one uninspired conversation that isn't interesting in any way.#combinations of passive aggressiveness and people not saying a thing because they can't participate. voice volumes too damn high #weirdass food situations. Very full table. so many smells.#this goes on for over an hour. wishing for literally anything but being there. soul crushing.#then you still have to sit in that room for 2.5 hours. it just goes on and on.#my autistic deaf dad physically looks like how I feel. my mum and aunt keep piling on top of him to demand his mental presence #i leave the room once (to get my phone to show pictures to my uncle) and am immediately followed upstairs by my mum #who demands I don't leave the room (What's next. following me when I need the toilet?)#me and my sister are so bored we start throwing paper planes and fake fighting.#Which amuses the bored and the deaf #but of course my mum and aunt have opinions and this is not allowed. only soul crushing boredom allowed #they complain to each other over it while aggressively doing dishes #finally it ends because my mum and aunt start insisting my dad should go to bed if he's 'that tired'. *sprinkle on some additional ableism*#still sitting through a conversation about allergies one of my sister's friends has. my mum preaching that people should take that seriously #(meanwhile i had to cook for myself for 9 years because when my allergies were really bad no one bothered to check if i could eat something)#me and my sister go sit upstairs to discover our mum has made things we care about vanish in her room #and made things appear that should not be there #I've washed the interior of my car and hope the smell will go #you think it's over after that. but woke up with the realisation that even more things have disappeared from my sister's room.#i can't remember a time when things left outside of my room didn't disappear #I don't know why we do these family gatherings at all. no one has fun on days like that.#the housing crisis isn't making these things easy. my sister is losing her place to live again as well #she'll go hiking for a month and then work on a campsite over the summer #maybe I'll go house sitting again. idk.#can't make commitments a few months in advance like that because I'll cancel everything the second Sparks announces anything important

okay hands down the best new mechanic for LoZ:EoW is the ability to warp around the dungeon, if I get stuck on a puzzle I can just warp away and try to solve a different part of the dungeon, if I get stuck on that puzzle I can go back to the first one with a slightly different mindset bc I'm now avoiding a different puzzle, it's great

#spent almost two hours in a dungeon today bc I somehow missed getting the map for 90% of the dungeon #do you understand now why I was never able to finish Majora's Mask #I am good at puzzles but sometimes I am not very fast at them bc I am overthinking the solution #I am also surprisingly good at missing getting dungeon maps #this is the like third or fourth LoZ game that I've gone into blind and couldn't find a map until near the end of the dungeon #(this time it was bc I made a wrong turn)#anyhow considering that I completed 1.5 dungeons my first day and 2.5 my second #I think the fifth dungeon actually being a little challenging for me was a good thing for my third day playing #(to be fair I am also taking time to explore I did not spend my entire time just lost in a Single Dungeon today)#(the game's fun and a lot closer to classic LoZ gameplay so I'm a lot faster/more comfortable playing it but I still wanna enjoy it)#anyhow EoW still continues to be an absolute delight of a game #will probably make my top 5 LoZ games at the rate things are going #oracle of lore

I made another ship map...

This one is unnamed, but belongs to my temporary character for Rook's game, Captain Kyron Valris. It's a sloop, small and very fast. Which incidentally is exactly what the party is going to need... ;)

(I wasn't about to make a 4th deck just for the space under the quarterdeck, so I did this. The weird floating room off to the side is Val's captain's quarters.)

Losing my mind about the second Finnish production of Så som i himmelen cutting the whole prologue again.

#like. sure you can do that #but then you need to write a new Pity the Child style song for Daniel in the second act where he explains why he is the way he is #if you just choose not to explain his life story at all then it's not really the same character/story anymore is it??#it's just a weird show that keeps hinting at its main character's trauma for 2.5 hours and never bothers to elaborate #haven't felt this annoyed at a creative decision since they cut My Nose Ain't Broken from Rocky Stuttgart 84 years ago #(the Tore magically becoming abled thing doesn't make me annoyed. it makes me feel sad offended and disappointed so it's a bit different)#I need to banish this production and everything I ever heard of it from my mind for good #but yeah. dunno what went wrong with this production exactly but I expected a lot better from the people involved #SSIH meltdown tag
