First Full Run
97 hours. Last night, I've finally done it, after Baldur's Gate 3 has had me in a chokehold since the game was gifted to me a month ago.
Balanced mode, Pure Draconic Fire Sorcerer Dark Urge. I am so pleased!
Next, tactician build suggestions, anyone? Preferably high charisma. Can't decide between a Swords Bard (because it seems fun! And generally in games, I just like being able to talk my way out of accidental fights before starting said fight on my own terms), a Canon Durge-Adjacent Blue Draconic Lightning Sorc (because charisma too, and having done a sorcerer in my first run just made my heart swell with pride and I just like magic) and a Stealth Archer build (because in the end, it's alllllllll Skyrim. Can't decide if I should go Ranger or Rogue for this one).
Oh my first full run was so much fun! Karlach died on me though, which my friend was surprised about because Wyll apparently offers to go to Avernus with her?
I didn't finish Wyll's and Lae'zel's companion quests. Lae'zel left Faerun in the end, because I let the Emperor kill Orpheus. Wyll became an adventurer, and so did Shadowheart! Gale became a professor which was sooooo cute. Astarion and I look after the vampire spawn in the Afterdark.
Astarion and Halsin and the Emperor all got romanced. Though honestly, I didn't think I would be so drawn to Gale? I came into this game set on romancing Astarion, but Gale got my heart.
If I wasn't so set into romancing Astarion first, I wouldn't have broken Gale's heart. But I was happy that he didn't leave the camp over it. I'm definitely romancing him in my tactician run.
I think the ending glitched somewhat (Act 3 in general just lagged and bugged out for me), because I got Astarion's and Halsin's scenes.
I was able to recruit all possible companions, except for Minthara. I didn't know she was recruitable until the end.
I didn't get to meet Sarevok although I did get a letter from him in the end. Apparently, I was supposed to be able to meet him along the way before defeating Orin, but I somehow stumbled into the Temple of Bhaal before that. My quest journal bugged out saying I killed him (which, I never met him, so that's a no).
I saw on some posts that Custom Origin is recommended for the first run, and I can kinda see why. I started this game with a Custom Origin first, before accidentally stumbling into Act 2 without finishing open quests from Act 1, so I decided to restart, but do Dark Urge since the appearance is customizable too anyway.
And by the gods, right off the bat, Durge had so much more meat to it compared to Act 1 of Custom. I don't think I can play as a Custom Origin ever again.
Just, this game. It's been a wild ride. It sucked me in and has occupied my thoughts for so many days, I haven't been able to touch any of my other personal projects because of it. It's just really good!
Already planning a character for a tactician run.
#bg3#bg3 tactician#this game is so fun#i'm so happy i had the chance to finally play it#procuring an external drive for this was so worth it#why is it 150GB#why larian#if i use hair style mods#will that turn off achievements?

Idk why Larian couldn't just like make the patch updates just be solely bug fixes and engine stability for minimum specs and instead save content updates to a standalone expansion for bg3. Or at least handed it off to a studio who wants to do that format (since Larian ceo is determined to move on from bg3 but prob can't since bg3 is literally printing money for the studio).
I would rather wait them or any other studio who take it out of Larians hands to make the standalone expansion for bg3 a few years for them rather than release deeply uneven narratives updates with just tidbits of updates and corrections like it's still in EA.
#nerozane rants#i know why they dont do standalone expansions anymore#its capitalism baby#bg3 critical#man im still so irked with the patch notes being blase of 150GB of bloat for essentially not an expansion#also it would literally take into heed feedback for lack of Wyll content and put it into the expansion

#i was just looking thru my storage out of curiosity..#got scared why my videos folder was 150gb and then i realised id downloaded my pirated copy of bg3 there for some reason LMAO#to be fair like a third of the storage space on my laptop is videogames + another third is torrented movies/tv shows#i rly need to get an external hard drive to store that stuff on. not that im particularly tight for space rn i still have another 90gb free#but still..#.diaries

Thank you for welcome back. I am glad you told me when New chapter coming because i thought it is gonna come in november and... WHY THİS FUCKİNG GAME İS 7GB HOW AGHHH İM İN SO MUCH PAİN
I would be very surprised if we got a new chapter that soon, but that's reaching for the stars ;w;
AND YEAH I recently uninstalled and downloaded the app again to clear that unnecessary data that gets stored after so many updates and when installing it again the app still takes up SO much space compared to other apps I'm like....eventually folks are gonna have to stop playing because there's no more space on their phones for it. It's like you need over 150GB on your device to accommodate the space and still have room for your other stuff.

Gaming Chat - Forspoken
Few things on Forspoken, a new game from Square Enix and why I think it’ll be a disaster.
That initial trailer with all the zingy one-liners was brutal but looked semi-promising from a graphical perspective.
But that’s been ruined by the release of the recommended PC specifications. These are the recommended for a 1440p @ 30FPS playthrough.
An RTX 3070 8GB VRAM
24 GB of RAM
150GB SSD storage space
That is well out of the range of a lot of people combining that with the $70 price tag. It seems ridiculous.
On to the more serious bit, however. It has been pointed out by a number of black journalists and creators that the games’ protagonist has been created by an all-white writing group.
And Square Enix have been reaching out to black creators to get them to play the game and then lowballing their fees. Twitch Partner Milady Confetti said Square Enix approached her for a quote and then countered her quote with a 70% reduction.
It’s not too surprising from Square Enix but fucking hell that’s bad.

Guys, am I the only one fr stressing about the LD economy?
I think 1-2 years ago, even KNOWING someone with an rlc was like a super rare thing. Not even 6 months ago, the cheapest RLC was 250gb (no matter what gen), and even at that price, they went fast. I'm seeing G5 rlcs not selling at 150gb suddenly.
What happened? What's going on with the conmunity? Why are the Lioden devs not taking a total economic crash seriously? Maybe I'm just paranoid, but honestly? Hoard everything. Start getting as much gb as possible because when it crashes (and it will, likely soon), it will crash HARD.

mortal kombat being 150gbs is kind of insane to me. like it's at least understandable why something like 5za would crack a hundred, because it's got a big open map. and ditto for like blands 3 or whatever (although elden ring is 50)
but like if a fighting game takes up the same amount of space as a whole ass open world game then I genuinely can't fathom where the files are going. it's two player models on a stage the size of a large room. unless reptile's inner ear bones have 16k textures and more polygons than the sum total of every game that came out in 2003 idk how that could possibly work out
#not to mention the crazy high ram usage#streets just came out a few months ago and has pretty high graphical fidelity but only takes 60gb of space#which is still kind of a lot#but 60 is under half of what NRS is asking

You know how some companies share what they spent their budget on? Larian should do that but instead of money it just shows why they need 150gb for baldurs gate 3

People on my tumblr seem really eager to recommend BG3 to me and so do critics mainstream and specialist, so let's lay out the whys and why nots
Points in favour - universally liked, "found family at gunpoint" sounds like a really appealing summation, mods available from day one, imm-sim levels of reactivity
Points against - never played DnD, don't know shit about DnD, never played any BG game, rarely play RPGs, rarely play fantasy games (and certainly not recently), 150GB is a really dumb size for a game
Points in favour: can pick up children and throw them at other children

MO2, why.
Why did you disable and SHUFFLE my entire load order. Do you have any idea how long it takes to organize over 150gb of mod and make it run smoothly??

there are other reasons why i will never play bg3 despite wanting to (i've seen gameplay and heard from my friend that it's pretty gorey so it's a nope from me), but i think it's bullshit that the game file is 150gb big
#maybe i'm just too used to nintendo games#i balked when i saw that totk was 16gb#and then i was like 'oh hey this new bg game looks cool AND i like d&d'#only to realize that my PC would only be able to handle that and like. nothing else#negative

I legit don't get why people still support CoD.
Sure, I haven't picked up a CoD game in years, but I look at them, and I barely see any difference outside of how much space it takes up on the computer/console.
I mean, it's bad enough that FF7R takes up nearly 100GB, but MW3 (the new one, not the old one) takes at least 80-150GB.
WHY
