im sure its been said already but as the election draws near more and more liberals will come out of the woodwork to shame people with a conscience to give away their vote to the democrats for free. i'm already seeing posts saying "why aren't people more concerned about a trump presidency?" you want to know why? it's because people already know he's bad. everyone already knows what he is and what he's done and what he'll do. there's nothing to discuss. he's a racist despotic worm of a man. there's nothing else to say.

biden is currently president. the genocide is happening under his watch. he's the one funding isra*l and arming them; he's sidestepped congress more than once to give them weapons. by oct. 27, the biden administration already knew that "Israel was regularly bombing buildings without solid intelligence that they were legitimate military targets." the state department/biden have engaged in atrocity propaganda, cast doubt on the legitimacy of the death toll recorded by the gaza health ministry, and so on. the united states is currently in the process of trying to pin the "war in gaza" on netanyahu (see sen. schumer's speech) after months of backing blatant genocide as a means to act as if they're "doing something" about the genocide (Instead of, say, threatening to cut off all aid to israel with the condition that all hostilities in gaza, the west bank, and occupied jerusalem are halted immediately and permanently, allowing palestinians freedom to travel, allowing aid into gaza, etc etc etc.)

the long and short of it is that liberals view their own lives as being worth more than palestinians'. that's it. they'll vote for another 4 years of the guy ushering in genocide and supporting apartheid + settler colonialism because he isn't outright attacking them (despite various laws and rulings happening both at the supreme court level and at the local level all over the country that will endanger people). they'll settle for the illusion of safety and security and shame anyone with a conscience and accuse them of "supporting the republicans" when in an actual democracy you would be able to use your vote as leverage to extract concessions from those who want to be elected. that's how it's supposed to fucking work.

democrats are not owed people's vote. if biden loses, it will be biden's fault; it will be his campaign's fault; it will be the democrats' fault. trump is bad; the republicans are bad. we already know this. this is not an endorsement of either. but if democrats are too cowardly and feckless and servile to the motivations of the american empire and never do anything for their constituents then why the fuck should anyone vote for them. you want to get mad at someone, why don't you do something useful and stop worrying about team-sports with a purely selfish basis and start hounding the people in power who are supposed to serve you, the voter.

Let's be very clear we need to stop blaming 3rd party, indigenous and more groups. They didnt have much affect on the votes with 3rd parties accounting for 0.04%. To start off, These are why Kamala wasnt electes

1. The democratic party were very problematic aiding in a war and genocide.

2. Kamala is a woman and biracial

3. importantly 87 million didn't vote most of which were in the democratic party as well as trump supporter actively having a reason to vote after they felt "wronged". As well as indigenous and brown people feeling betrayed for what the administration have done but not wanting to vote for Trump and i understand that america is basically a 2 party country but it still had a big impact. Trump didn't even have much of an increase but Kamala had a significant decrease.

Back to the people who chose not to vote: it was because they either did not care, didnt have a driving motivation to vote or felt failed democratic party's actions because they preached for equality but when it came to support indigenous communities, kamala being a cop or the explotation of the environment they failed severly. Or people where in a comfortable position of priveledge which is the main problem.

Moral we need to stop the conviction against 3rd parties and smaller indigenous communities

So how do we change this:

We start by promoting 3rd parties in our communities.We start with smaller sections of communities. Vote 3rd party or democratic party in smaller sections.

We focus on promoting the youth through education and tiktok to vote and why it is resourceful in change.

We send petions and protest to elected official or chosen officials on manditory things we need.

If you dont want to get pregnant get the implant now.

If you need medicare try by all means to move out of the country or to a blue state.

Disabled, poc or immigrants move to blue states. Your more likely to get help.

We need to have community discussion to start funds or community charities.

Promote to the youth. Socail media is powerful.

Make an organised voting system ensuring palestinian supporters, congo and sudan supporters to put stress on democrats whilst advocating for their vote in a 2 party system.

Simultaneosly promote 3rd parties as we start to over 8-12 years put them up as viable candidates BUT explain that it isnt vaible for 2026.

Read the democratic plan and explain it because that was their biggesf failure and explain the harmful rhetoric in far right administrations, that will be easy over 4 years. We need to prevent the youth from extremism.

This genocide has started way before oct 7th, israel is an occupying force that's been oppressing Palestinians for at least 50 years.

The 20% Palestinian population living in israel is subjected to apartheid, police violence and displacement from their homes.

Im really pissed about all those “‘We can still be friends-‘ no the fuck we can’t” posts because on the very clear and obvious hand, Trump is a fascist and anyone who understands economics, checks and balances and international relationships know that he’ll be a disaster.

But, at the same time, the past few months of honestly celebrating that the Harris campaign did after the first few weeks and especially after the debate (Im just as guilty of it - i was predicting a clear Harris landslide, i had her winning fucking Texas) but we need to do an autopsy of the Harris campaign. I want to preface this by saying it isnt a dealbreaker for me - in spite of the many deficits I think the Harris-Walz ticket - because I voted for her. I knocked on doors for her. But clearly, for a lot of people, dealbreakers that shouldn’t and easily couldn’t have been there were, and if we don’t acknowledge that, we’re never going to win.

So here is my critique of Kamala’s campaign, from the left.

The biggest complaint would be the lack of drilling in on hard issues. We are having a crisis of living in this country, and the primary message of the Harris campaign was “Hey, we’re on the road to recovery and it’s just gonna get better!” So make it a major part of your campaign you want to control prices, rent, etc. As terrible and blatantly obvious as his pr moves were, Trump at McDonalds and in front of a Grocery story was compelling to a lot of americans who are struggling to put food on their plate. A guy who’s saying, in the most fascist strong man way he can, “Only I can fix it.” And when the other guy is saying “Dont worry im working on it,” to the scared and uninformed Trump looks better - obviously any substantive reading of policy makes it clear who’s policies will be better. I Know that - but were there sound bites that could be played ad nausem of Kamala’s policies? As poor of a Businessman he is, Trump is a Salesmen, and Salesmen manipulate, lie and hoodwink people.

What was Kamala’s actual solution to the Border? I know even needing a ‘solution’ is couched in liberalism legalese but instead of a concrete campaign promise, she would rightfully say “Hey, Trump’s plan is insane and he sabotaged mine.” I know that’s true, but why not make that part of your campaign instead of allowing him to manipulate control of the situation. Did any democrat in congress try to reintroduce that bill? If so; why the hell wasn’t that blasting on Fox News and NPR? Don’t make Trump defend his past killing of the hill, make him say “are you going to support this democratic bill that your people like?” Did she say “we’re going to crackdown on losses of jobs to low-wage migrants (by giving them the same protections as American citizen workers because then it isnt just cheaper to nickel and dime the undocumented workers)” or did she just keep playing that former hit? Because while I heard “Ethnic cleansing” a lot of working class people who have lost their jobs to this labor (and dont blame the people responsible, their corporate overlords) heard “More open jobs” and that was enough for them.

Hands down, across the boars, the Democratic messaging on economics was either spotty or non existent and no matter how short sided or bigotted their choice was - Trump got more voters then Kamala in pretty much all demographics. This is not a thing where we can narrow it down to different socieo-ecconomic groups and ask why they didn’t come to the polls for Harris - we need to look at the messaging that, in some diabolical miracle, lead to a Trump victory.

Look; I’m not going to pretend to have all the answers. Honestly, we should’ve had a primary and Joe should’ve dropped out in 2023. But he didn’t, and instead with have yet another example about the Democrats schoochimg towards the middle, ignoring so many problems and allowing the dumbass to Scapegoat his enemies for a victory instead of delving to the root of our political issues - the absolute financial stranglehold the top 1%, made mostly of old white men but this is a war of Capital. And its one that most Americans have no idea they’ve been drafted into, most often on the side of Capital

Oh - and Gaza. The lack of firm answer there is immoral even if openly opposing Israel is political suicide in our current climate. Doesn’t matter, her silence is a condemnation on her - infinitely better then Trump

To be clear I am a progressive who voted for Harris. This post is my attempt to understand why people voted for Trump, who I despise and think is a threat to many people.

Obviously the results are a shock for a lot of reasons, namely that so many people are willing to ignore all the negative aspects of Trump to the point of wanting him to have the single most powerful position in America, and to literally put the lives of their friends, family, and neighbors at risk.

I've been thinking about this a lot and talking to people a lot and reading what I can to make sense of it all- why did Kamala lose and how can we prevent this from happening again?

I heard two big reasons,

1. Kamala did talk enough about how she was going to achieve her goals and the scope of her goals was too narrow and

2. America wasn't ready for a woman to be president.

But another thing I've been thinking about is social media and algorithms. We unknowingly created echo chambers for ourselves.

This means we developed the false belief that more people were going to vote for Kamala, and we didn't even get the chance to entertain the priorities of people who thought voting for Trump was a good idea.

So when the polls came in and said it was 50/50, we didnt believe them. When the results came in, people were claiming that Trump cheated (very plausible), ballots weren't being counted and people couldnt vote because of bomb threats. And to be clear, all of these things did happen. But they still dont make up for margin that trump won by. If our perspective was correct, Kamala wouldve won by a landslide and all these things wouldnt have made that much of a difference.

People are upset because everything is so expensive, and trump took advantage of that and made a scapegoat. Things are expensive because immigrants are taking people's jobs, or that we're spending too much on regulation and climate action, or that we're too reliant on importing things from China. And his plan was to deport immigrants, cut regulations, and impose tariffs.

This is a plan. It's a very flawed plan, but his followers dont realize that its corporate greed and monopolies that are keeping prices high, and its easier to listen to a guy who is a charismatic talker and believe what he says, because hey, this guy is rich and he's been in business for years, and it's easy to hate people who you dont feel connected to and blame them for your problems than to research every claim he makes and realize that things are super complicated and difficult to solve, especially when congress keeps getting in the way.

There's a lot of lies but also some half truths, but people are overworked, underpaid, tired and angry. They dont have the time and energy to research all the things he talks about. They just hear that he's going to make things better for you (white, cis, hetero) people and he's going to get rid if the people who make you feel uncomfortable, and he's saying all the hateful things that the uneducated, frustrated, and fearful side of you thinks but cant say outloud without pushback and he gets away with it. He survived a gunshot. People say he committed crimes and sexually assaulted people but he still walks free so he must be innocent because cops are good and the criminal justice system is functional and only bad guys like drug dealers and thieves go to jail.

And purity culture!! The dems are all about pronouns and womens rights and if you don't do something correctly than someone's going to dig up something you did and cancel you and now you cant watch Rosanne on tv anymore. So if you feel like you cant do anything right and the beliefs that you had for years are suddenly wrong and now theirs all these people giving themselves titles that you dont understand, you aren't going to feel a connection or even care about these people. You might even think they're crazy, or being manipulated, or that taking away their rights is actually good for them.

All the moreso when Trump and his cronies and his media paint these people, who you dont understand, don't care about, and never interact with are painted that way, and then backed up with more half truths and lies.

Trump supporters have been brainwashed, and nonvoters and moderate white men were pulled to trump by he least offensive policy ideas.

So how do we fix this? Well, if its safe to do so, we need to start talking to people about reproductive health care, and what being a trans kid actually involves. And we need to learn more about the topics that trump supporters think are important, like the economy and immigration, and we need to talk to our family, friends, and neighbors about them.

I'm not saying that democrats need to sacrifice their beliefs and move to the right. But we do need to leave our echo chambers and talk to people or this will only get worse.

idc if no one reads this i just need to vent. ive seen way too many posts outright blaming people who didnt vote and blaming people who voted third party. and as someone who voted i understand being angry at the people who knowingly did that especially in the states where your vote can actually make a difference at that level. im in a blue state where im a drop in the ocean when it comes to the presidency so of course im frustrated. but if you need to blame someone for all of this why arent you blaming the people who actually voted for trump, the people who endorsed and campaigned and spread misinformation for him, and the people with the most power and privilege right now. please use your anger and your energy against the real enemy here. this election shows us how many people would rather see a fascist in office than a woman of color and imo thats what we should be talking about. like how many people in swing states probably voted for biden in 2020 and since then decided they’d prefer the fascist they voted against that year, actually? people can argue forever about voting and moral superiority but we all need to acknowledge how many people actively chose trump because they wanted to. ultimately thats what won the election because i dont think the margins are as close as some of yall are making them out to be, as much as i wish that wasnt the case.

Why am I so concerned about American politics? Well apart from the fact that Trump supports Putin and will stop supporting Ukraine in their fight against his occupation...and the fact that he has already shown his intention to roll back on abortion rights and rights for the gay and trans community...and wants to implement an entire ban on Muslim people entering the States....

But the other reason is that the majority of funding into the anti choice movement here in Ireland comes from America. Americans even come here several times a year to protest on our own streets about women's rights. Here! In Ireland! Not only is this a fact; that American dollars are working very hard in their aim to roll back on our rights but I've seen it with my own eyes; while engaged in protests and counter protests.

While my heart goes out to those decent and human citizens in America; who are not duped and easily manipulated by propaganda, I fear for the rest of the world too. Because the one thing about Trump, he shows you exactly who he is and tells you exactly what he's about.

Thats why I'm in utter despair and horror that so many people can proudly and openly support such a dangerous man. And these fools are so blinded by their own hate that they dont see they have just fucked themselves, have voted against themselves.

Soldiers who claim to be concerned about the "safety" of their country have just voted for a man who mocked dead soldiers, refusing to visit a cemetery because it contained "suckers" and "losers". Dead soldiers.

People of colour just voted for a man who constantly conflates their communities with crime and threats. Who has been personally involved in discriminatory cases in past businesses, including refusal to pay workers (of colour) and purposely refusing to rent to them also.

Women. What can you even say. Voting for a convicted rapist, who has sexualised his own daughters when they were just children. Who called his opponent a whore and "jokes" about shooting women in the street.

He is a tax dodger. A draft dodger. Refuses to uphold the law or respect the constitution. He has a "concept of a plan". Says inflation isn't a priority. Yet you voted because you trust him to run your country and protect your economy? A man who has claimed bankruptcy multiple times and is a proven criminal, a corrupt and immoral man who has absolutely nothing in common with the ordinary person.

This just proves the power of controlling the media and keeping people isolated and fearful. In recent weeks my own social media pages have been flooded with fake right wing and extreme pages, aimed (on the surface) at promoting "patriotism" when clearly they are a means to divide and conquer. Its not even a new tactic. Its what many dictators and fascists have done in the past. Only now we have technology at our fingertips.

In fact it was a Nazi, Joseph Goebbells, who is associated with the idea that if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth. And now, it is clear, that people choose to blindly believe what they want to believe, so long as it aligns with their existing ideals. Trumps campaign could say and do whatever they liked because he said those magic, key words here and there, the ones that trigger a certain type of person, his key voter.

The entire spectacle is just a symptom and not only confined to America. Populist and far right politicians are on the rise everywhere. Because people are becoming cynical and purposely ignorant and frankly, lazy. Because it takes very little effort to check sources or educate yourself. But instead of using technology in a helpful and productive way, many are choosing to live in echo chambers and spread harmful lies and rhetoric. And it's also lazy when you choose to lay blame for complex social and economic problems at the foot of the most vulnerable groups. Minorities. The oppressed. Its easy.

It's easier to blindly believe what the familiar face on the podium is telling you; than face reality. It's much easier to grab onto the scapegoat that is hand fed to you, than take time to find the truth, through education and self reflection and hard work.

Humans are progressing backwards. Reverting into children who want to be told and led and directed and controlled. Because its easier. Because it feels safer. But it's not real. And unfortunately, these people will undoubtedly find out. As will the rest of the world.

The rest of us; humanity, decent, compassionate people....well we have to sit here and watch the trauma unfold, again. Women dying. Minorities being further oppressed and hated openly, without fear of consequences. Because despite the best efforts of good people in trying to combat this new age weapon; the exploitation of media, there are just too many people unwilling to open their minds. Or their eyes. Instead, they prefer to remain blind and dumb and docile. No matter the cost to everyone else. So long as they are surrounded by what they conceive as "safety". Which in reality; is just people who look like you or sound like you or agree with you.

It's not about our feelings for Trump or not accepting democracy or people's "opinions". People are genuinely upset and others utterly depressed because the man represents everything that's wrong with the world. He doesn't even hide it. He brags about it. His corruption. His contempt for anyone who isn't a part of his inner circle; which includes his own supporters. He is the epitome of a privileged old white man, who thinks he can do and say whatever he wants. And for the most part he is right. Because he's just proved that you can be a convicted criminal, a rapist and a cheat and a liar, but people will love you for it. Because at the end of the day, they wish they could be like that. Untouchable.

People can't become untouchable alone. But there's nothing rebellious or admirable about it. About placing yourself outside of the law, about disregarding the law of the land you supposedly claim to love and respect. Trump isn't some sort of hero because he has no filter and refuses to leave quietly. He's a capitalist and a fascist, an admirer of dictatorship. His ideologies are so far removed from anything to do with freedom or the constitution or democracy.

I just hope that when he is done destroying that nation (and hopefully not the rest of the world too). That people will have some sort of awakening, will realise how they have been played by one of the greatest con men who ever lived. But something tells me that this cult like obsession, this co-dependent abusive relationship, runs so deep that most will never see it, how they have been manipulated into their own destruction and demise.

A sad day. A truly fucking dark day.

'any vote thats not for him is a vote for trump' the 2 party system sucks and is partially to blame for this situation and this seems like the best time to be advocating for other political platforms. like so many people in the us right now seem to be 'waking up' to the reality that both blue and red teams suck so you would think this is when we should try to have as much push to break out of the 2 party system as possible. like we have so much energy right now that can be put to pushing for an end to the 2 party system and get someone that might actually be able to at least help stop this situation or lessen how bad it is but instead your focusing all of that energy into...... what exactly? preaching for a demon who is actively participating in genocide? wow how progressive and morally sound.

im falling apart and i dont know if i can fix it.

ive never felt worse in my life. ive been in the psych ward twice, but those times don't hold a candle to now.

i cant afford to live. i cant afford to die. my family can see that im struggling-the very ugly and worst parts of myself are on full blast. im hurting everyone, especially cedric. he's just trying to keep everything afloat, but im too busy in my own head to do what i need to in order to make up for it. most people who interact with me hate me. i always wondered why, but as i lay around in this ball ive been in all day, im realizing that everything i was put through was too much. it made me into a monster. im always mooching off my mom and brother but they hardly ever even message me anymore. my own fucking father hates me. my best friend in the world got tired of my shit. ive become tired of trying, so i only really try at the one thing that keeps me useful at all. the only thing that is keeping me alive, but killing me even more: work. i like my job! but its lonely because of the night shift, and that im too awkward to try to make any friends there.

my coping mechanisms are further dragging me down. ordering food when we can't afford it at all. hypersexuality. self-isolation. it's making me a selfish, horrible person. but was i ever not a shitty person? i don't think so. all i have to offer anymore is the money i make that very barely keeps us afloat. and i keep going to the train station, but i just... can't end it. i want to. but i can't bring myself to do it. whether it's because of the stop being crowded, or chickening out, or realizing me dying won't actually lessen the load on my family... i know this last point to be true in theory, but what good am i doing here? i dont have the energy to be the parent i need to be.
