OK finally back with some more drawings! Since Touhou 17 is approaching it's 5 year anniversary soon, I wanted to draw at least one of the charatcers (hopefully I'll still be motivated to draw Keiki lol) and I had some ideas for Saki and I've never drawn her before, so that's how we got here!

Artist's Notes;

So after doing some drawings of my OCs (who I will reveal upon a later date since I still wanna finalize their designs) and finally getting out of my art funk that I've been in for a while, I started off this drawing with the mentality of "oh yeah I'm just gonna put together this quick outfit for Saki and I won't bother rendering it"

...and then I did but to be honest I am very happy I did because oh my god clothes are so fun to render for me now. I remembered the technique I used on my drawing of Reimu and applied that here. That technique being using triangles to imply shadows and highlights in clothing and then blending out those shadows to give the clothing some three dimensionality. My favourite things that I rendered in this piece were the gloves, hat and the belt buckle (since I applied a technique for rendering gold and metal objects that I remember seeing/hearing about a while ago). Don't get me wrong, I love how all the clothing turned out in this piece but the gloves are the real standout of this piece to me. I also had some fun with the cowboy boots (I couldn't figure out how to make those cool metal star things work on the boots though that is a sin I fully intend to fix later down the line) since when I looked at references for them I noticed how some of them had these intricate details embroidered (?) onto them.

Also, in the earliest phases of this drawing Saki had this really big black coat that I decided to get rid of later down the line because it really does not work with her fighting style and it did not stand out against her wings, and the logistics of her getting said jacket with her wings on confused me. Like, I can kind of imaging that on her shirt she has a little open spot for her wings that she can just put them in. That goes for Yachie to but now I'm even more confused because all her clothes must need some open backs because of her shell??? Which raises some more questions, like, can she just never be on her back when sleeping??? Looking at Yuuma we can see that the beast yakuza in Touhou can freely change their form from human to beast so can Yachie just double down on the human bit and get rid of her shell temporarily so she can sleep comfortably??? Because if she lays on her back is she just kinda wobbling around like most turtles are when they're on their backs? Can she hypothetically retreat into her shell, if so that has some weird implications to how her anatomy works. Like, what does her skeleton look like? Seriously, what are the logistics here WHERE DOES YACHIE GET HER FUCKING CLOTHES BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY NEED TO BE SPECIFICALLY TAILORED SO SHE CAN PUT IT ON TO FIT HER SHELL I DON'T NEED SLEEP I NEED ANSWERS YACHIE WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS-

....rant aside, you can see the remnants of this idea in the tattered back of her... idk what to call it but I know she has a variant of this in her OG design. I mainly wanted to test this out because of the cursed realization that The Ghoul in Fallout Prime is just a male Saki but if Utsuho gave Saki radiation poisoning. No seriously, they're smug ass cowboys who are so sure of their own strength that have fought at least one mechanically engineered robot in some variation of a wasteland with an affinity for dogs. I'm now morbidly curious as to what would happen if you put the two of them in a room together. Would they try to kill each other? Would they become besties? Would they try to kill each other and then become besties? Who knows. But yeah jokes aside the tattered cloth was a design choice that was inspired by The Ghoul from Fallout Prime because y'know, same vibes. And also because yes I do love Fallout Prime and I am so ready for season two IT'S SO GOOD GO WATCH IT EVEN IF YOU AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH FALLOUT AS A SEIRES GO DO IT NOW, SAIL THE SEVEN SEAS FOR IT IF YOU HAVE TO JUST WATCH IT-

I knew for Saki's face I wanted to give her some thick eyebrows, it just makes sense. I also wanted to give her some scarring on her face because she's a crime boss, why wouldn't she have scars? I also had some fun with her little horse ear that's sticking out from the side of her hat since it would kinda look weird if she just had no ears period. I also went ham on stylizing her ponytail into this weird swirl, since if I were to show you some of my recent doodles from my sketchbook you would notice that that has become a common motiffe in some of my art. I don't know why but I just like it. Saki's wings were also very fun, I found a good reference for bird wings that are specifically shaped for high speeds (though I did add some stylistic touches so her one wing that's out wouldn't look like a big blob) since her whole thing is speed. From very early on in the process I knew that I wanted Saki to not look skinny, so I found some refs of female kickboxers for her legs and noticed that while parts of their upper body are maybe a bit toned, it's the legs that have a lot of power. I mainly did this because kicking is a huge part of her fighting style.

Overall, I'm really happy with this drawing, and once Touhou 17's anniversary rolls around I do want to go more in depth on my thoughts in the game, it's themes, and how the animal realm functions as a dark parallel to Gensokyo in many ways. I'll also have to get around to drawing Yachie and Keiki as well (if I still have the time and motivation to do so) since I have some ideas for their designs that I'm very excited to draw (especially Keiki).

Has anyone thought about how much Jaiden’s house says about her charatcer and the greief that she’s experienceing?

She built it in a flower field filled with roses—even the houes is filled with roses. Her fridge only has food that Bobby loved. Her second story is fully dedicated to Bobby, filled with pictures, more roses, and easles and canvases (there are three of them, if i remember corrrectly). She made a treehouse, comething her and Roier started for Bobby. She made a balconey with three chairs so they could watch the sunset.

What Jaiden has done is she’s made the perfect house for if Bobby was still alive: a room for him, an outdoor area, all his favorite food, his favorite activities, een his favorite flowers.

She refueses to have more or less than three chairs. The perfect amount for their little family.

I feel like neither of Bobby’s parents want to forget him, but they’re also handling it in different ways. Roier has moved on, forming a new family and living life as he did before. He’s sad, and he misses Bobby, even suggesting that they find a way to get Bobby back, but he’s moved on. Jaiden, on the other hand, has everything in her life dedicated to Bobby.

I think Jaiden is convinced that Bobby has a chance of coming back, even if she doesn’t directly say it.

But it also makes sense why she’s willing to give up her life to protect the eggs and maybe even get Bobby back.

I’m such a big Targ fan but I can not stand most Targ fans because they don’t get it. The valyrians are interesting and cool because they are fucked up. I love the Targaryens because I am a horror and sci-fi fan. Like yeah dragons are cool too but they wouldn’t be nearly as cool if everything surrounding them weren’t horrifying and twisted. I love Dany because she is a flawed and complex character and it is so easy to draw lines through her narrative to understand why she is the way she is and what led her to make different mistakes and how she got to her self delusions. But most Dany fans will call me a Dany hater for being like hey let’s analyze why Dany has never second guessed her decision to kill Mirri even though every other act of violence she’s been directly or indirectly responsible for (ie the crucifixions or Viserys’s death) has weighed on her conscience to some extent despite the fact that Mirri was a slave who was punished for rising up against her master, Drogo. The cognitive dissonance is so interesting and ripe for analysis but I have been accused of only pretending to be a Dany fan for recognizing this. A lot of actual Dany haters churn out way more meaningful Dany metas because most Dany fans are just oh she’s an unambiguous good hero who will be queen and I think that’s so boring

The thing is, I totally get what you mean. Theres a Targaryean I am sort of like this for in a way. The character himself has been soured by such a deluded and hostile fan base about what is allowed to be said or thought about him, but if it weren't for the way most targ stans are, I would be 1000% more into Rhaegar as a character.

It would never change I think he's a bad person who did monstrous things for questionable if not quite selfish means who I would never support, but I also love Euron Greyjoy who is 100% an irredeemable monster. Rhaegar's entire existence is fasnicating. From the Ghost of High Hart being the reason his parents were married, to his life defining birth right in the middle of the fiery tragedy of Summerhall which effected his life. How such a terrible place was the only place he was every described as being happy in, likely because his existence is tied with great tragedy. How that likely deeply influenced him into buying into the Ghost of High Harts words of the prince that was promised being born from his father and mothers blood line which led to his delusions which ended up negatively impacting every person in his life leading to their deaths including his own. He should be a fascinating character study for me, but the way targ stans talk about him has ruined any chance of discussion because any nuance I could provide is going to be taken as pro Rhaegar talking points.

Same with Valyria in general. The Valyrian people were delusional and terrifying and the world is better off without them, but I love exploring why. I don't hate Targaryeans to hate them, I hate them because they are interesting to hate. They are facsinating because of what makes them horrible. And liking them as characters isn't at all wrong.

Its the lack of willingness to engage with their favourite charatcers greatest flaws and realistic motivations. It's a disconnect. They will push back against every single argument that Dany is a horrible, selfish tyrant possible, and then cite her atrocities as why I'm wrong and it's like..they have bought so much into the propoganda that they have created a false image of this character they supposedly love. Why love a version of a character that you need to bend over backwards to justify is the real version against the facts of the actual story?

They are desperate to look as if their favourite characters make them morally righteous. When liking a morally honourable character does not say anything about you other then what particular character you enjoy more then another. I am not claiming to be better then Rhaegar stans because I love Ned Stark, but they will slander Ned Stark as much as they can to justify why they prefer Rhaegar instead of just admitting they have a preference.

I get accused of being a Sansa hater, because I am both very against jonsa (ship and shippers) and I am very critical of her post season 4 character. But in the books and the first 4 seasons, shes not my favourite but I love her. But because I go against the popular ship and I am critical of her various actions over the course of the different versions of her character, I am seen as a hater. Its the same with Dany and many Targaryeans.

Its either toe the public opinion, or keep them out of your mouth which is insane for a fandom of a story literally built upon the varying complexities of a characters grey areas.

They want asoiaf/got to be way more black and white then it ever has been. Which is such a poor way of interacting with a story you are passionate about.

Dany can be a tyrant and an interesting character. She can be a cruel and selfishly bloodthristy woman and your favourite character. But these stans are allergic to those ideas not being mutually exclusive.

I dont hate targ stans because they are targ stans, I hate targ stans because they will attack any dissenting opinons that do not fall into their perfect protagonist hero image they've conjured up.

But they got nothing on me. I love Euron Greyjoy. The most disgusting monster in the whole series who I also would rather slingshot him into the sun then let him walk around alive in the world. I will never defend his bad choices, and never condemn someone for calling him an immoral monster. His lack of humanity is what makes his choices so interesting.

These targ stans though, could not possibly be strong enough to be the same for even a minute for their favourite Targaryean.

What it means to be a Moreau:

An essay and analysis of Jean Moreau's character-conflict  (Aftg and TSC - spoilers)

What this will not be about: The actual content of the book. Ok, that's not fully true. I am not about to discuss if something that happens itself is good/bad, in character etc. Or criticize topics.

What this will be is an analysis of parallels, character-motifs and questions concerning their trajectory and hindsight of actions. Questions AND Ideas how to answer these questions.

What does it mean when Jean states "I am a Moreau '', Why does TSC feel a bit like a crunched up Aftg? What constitutes the actual conflict of Jean - since either choice (staying or leaving) appears to be certain death? Why does Rikos death and Kevin's betrayal (the hand thing) matter to Jean?  

The book came out and my heart went racing. These books (aftg and tsc) bring me great joy, all I will criticize and analyze in this tiny, a bit too long essay, is said with greatest love and sincerity towards these books. But there can be said a lot - especially about TSC.

Parallels between aftg and tsc - Stories about identity:

First of all let's begin with Nora's great writing of POV's. In this book we do get two pov's, giving us contrast to Neils in Aftg. Meaning we see the world, the characters from three different perspectives. And Nora makes them all matter. In the end I will tie it back with interpreting Jeremys pov, but for now let's only look at Neils and Jeans. A lot of characterization is made by what is focused on in their respective povs. What characters are interesting, how much rumination (thought) vs action is expressed. Both are unreliable narrators, and both tell us so much about what matters to them.

Both Aftg (Neils arc) and TSC (Jeans arc) are about the loss and gain of identity. From the retrospective, the arc consists of questions such as: Who am I?; Can I change who I am?; and what am I worth? But both arcs start with a clear sense of identity which is threatened.

However, somehow Neils arc is more concise and clear cut. Of course, part of this can be attributed to the simple fact that there will be a (second and maybe third part) to come for TSC, but it's mainly the groundworks I think which are "lacking". They are not necessarily lacking but rather not as (clear/spelled out).

The theme of "Identity" is special, since the stakes in the book/ark are about identity and its loss. Other stakes (death, loss of friendship, love etc) are not the main focus. The characters struggle and peril is about the loss of identity, which would mark a step into an unknown world they cannot navigate, and bring other dangers they avoided or dealt with the current identity. (Example: Lying vs telling the truth. Former obstructs the consequences of the truth, the later means you need to deal with the consequences.) On the other hand, it is the alternative identity which provides something of interest for the charatcer, creating a conflict of WANTING and perception of SELF. They WANT friends, but would need to GIVE UP their former sense of protection.

We are introduced to Neil Josten, and his very solid perception of identity. He is "nothing" = He has no right and no attachment to anything. He is a liar and alone. The conflict is created by offering him Exy and later on a team. Security stands in conflict with ending his loneliness and the feeling of not mattering. Nora introduces this conflict very early and very clearly. It is what makes us sympathize and, more importantly, understand and buy into the crazy thing Neil does to keep his secrets.

However, there is another identity which rides that one of "Neil Josten." Nathaniel Wesninski, the identity attached to that name, becomes more prominent throughout the books, and in the end, Neil needs to accept this identity to move on.

Nathaniel Wesninski's identity is very much spelled out in AFTG and it must be so, to make this shift of identity so impactful. A Wesninski is: loyal, does not lie, cruel but true. The very opposite of Neil Josten.

Nathaniel Wesninski is tied to the Moriamas, and is tied to his father. To pain, loss and a life of consequences and responsibility. (Not to run). The stake to shift to this identity (to be this person) is made clear by showing throughout the books how each of these parts are dangerous. And every step Neil takes (especially in the first and second book) is to avoid having to lose Neil Josten and be Wesnisnki.

And it works excellently. We fear WITH Neil when he makes the shift to Wesnisnki in Lolas car, and it is an epiphany when Riko dies and Neils makes a deal with Ichiro. When he wins in Exy and can play Exy. Because he not only shifted in the identity, he did not lose Neil Josten. He successfully changed to a Wesninski, to then further to a NEW Neil Josten. (Important: It's not losing an identity, which makes the arc powerful. It's the change of self. Nora is very explicit by making it a three step program. Josten. Wesninski, and "New" Josten.) We see what is the conflict, we get the stakes, and we see how Neil resolves the problems and takes on a new, stronger identity.

TSC is about Jean and a similar problem. However the swap, or rather the whole conflict does not appear as strong as with Neil. And the reasons for it are very simple, though still relevant for the trajectory of the story and possibility for the reader to emphasize and root for Jean.

TSC starts out with the bonus that we are already entranced with the fate of Jean and understand The Nest and Riko. However, what we do not know is Jeans' identity. Who does he think he is?; What stakes does he think hinge on being "Jean Moreau, the Raven, belonging to the Moriyamas' '? WHY is it so tremendous to leave the Nest, and what does he have to gain? What is the trade and what is the challenge? Etc. All that we have established with the Neil example prior.

Through Jean's mantra we get told that Jean has some kind of values attached to being "a Moreau '' and being "part of the Nest/belonging to the Moriyamas". The fatal problem is, we are never told what this actually means.

As readers we can understand why Jean is afraid to leave the nest, what Riko has done and could do to them. But this does not create the conflict we are looking for and plays out in the book. The conflict is happening, but the pov Nora gives us through Jean does not sufficiently explain what this conflict actually is about.

The answer is given implicitly and between the lines. These few bits I will try to spell out and interpret. Further, there could be a stronger case in certain scenarios, to make the conflict around Jeans identify stronger, and his relation to other characters more impactful.

First let's consider:

"What does it mean to be a Moreau?"

When Jean realizes he had been taken from Evermore, he tries to bargain with others and himself that he cannot leave. "Because he is a Moreau", and he belongs to Riko/the Moriyamas. But we are not let in WHY this exactly is a problem. Oh no, how horrible to not be beaten to death. If Jean leaves, Riko and his family will be angry and could try killing him. But the same appears to be possible if he GOES BACK. The whole first chapters establish that Jean is neither safe in nor outside the nest. (He might think it's safer inside, but for the reader, it  is clear this being not the case.)

Therefore, this conflict is not of external stakes, but internal. If Jean leaves, it would mean breaking with his identity, losing himself, creating or letting in problems he formerly avoided or dealt with through the identity he is trying to keep. It is essential that we understand WHAT HE IS TRYING TO UPHOLD.

Duty and being reliable:

I think we can define "being a Moreau" by being a person who has a strong sense of duty. Who is reliable and  sensible. I mainly read this from the fact that Jean asks Jeremy to add "being conform with USC appearance" to his contract. He has a duty to serve Ichiro, and by putting conformity in the contract, by extension he has a duty to be conform.

""You will have to pen it in," Jean said. "I won't sign it unless you do." It was the only way this worked: If Jean signed something that said he had to behave to be allowed to stay on the lineup, he could bite his tongue and stay his fists. It'd piss him off beyond telling, but he could follow orders if it meant surviving another day." p.71(kindle)

But this does not fully explain why breaking with the ravens is problematic for Jean in the beginning of TSC. Nora has not forgotten or overseen this, but it's not explicitly put in the text. Jeans backstory is about being sold to the Moriyamas. He is given the duty by his parents to serve Moriyama. Nora had portrayed it very much in a way that Jean was very reluctant to do. Although understandable, I propose to read this character more strongly. Make this matter more:

Jean is an older brother, prior to being sold, he had already understood himself as a reliable and dutiful person. An older brother to take care of his baby sister. A Moreau to in the future take care of business. resourceful and reasonable. Dutiful and compliant.

When he is told by his parents he is sold "as Moreau" - not as anybody, he is sold with a duty to represent and pay off the depth(?) of his family. Perform on the court, show the worth, protect his family, his baby sister.

His place at Evermore and belonging to Riko would be/is tied to his understanding of being a Morou. Leaving Evermore, would mean to not fulfill his duty, to give up, to be unreliable, since his parents and his sister counted on him.

If we accept "duty" and "reliability" to stand in the center of Jean's identity and conflicts, all other relationships and actions are to be seen from the perspective of Jean trying to protect this identity and stay conform with it. Most notably this strengthens both the events and dynamic between Jean and Kevin, and Jean and Riko respectively.

Riko & The Ravens:

Imagine Jean had been brought to the Nest, unwilling, hurt by betrayal, but with a strong sense of duty to go through with this. Take this burden given to him, and perform. Riko would have picked up on this. The amount of violence, the "breaking in" of Jean was not simply cruelty or any weird family feud thing. It was Rikos testing, an attempt to break Jean's sense of self. If he would not be able to perform on court, not achieve it - he would break his promises. Jean's small but consistent rebellions against Riko are an expression to keep his duty. He plays games even if he is hurt, he does not kill himself. For Jean to fulfill his duty and sense of self(worth) means going along with whatever, and holding out whatever.

Giving up on Evermore is not only breaking his sense of identity and purpose, but also making the pain he insured pointless (as Jeremy notices so fittingly). It means Riko wins by breaking him. His fear of Riko is tied to his fear of losing his sense of self. And him losing Riko means he has failed his duty to play for him on the court. The ravens are described by Jean as "loving and hating" each other respectively. And that nobody in USC could ever understand. But nor can we truly. Why does Jean not hate them, why is he not happy Riko is gone? because it means he failed, and they all contributed to his identity and achievement of his promises. The deal he made with Zane was one of the best insights or examples we are given to understand the Nest. To FEEL the Nest dynamic. Survival, reliance, schemes, dependance. Cruel intimacy to others, to know their secrets and fears. If you are not tight with someone (Jean and Zane, or Jean and Kevin) you also cannot find a way to protect yourself. Knowing Zane loved that one Raven girl and wanted that number, gave him the ability to stay away from Grayson and not break. The ravens, and Riko are not only an obstacle to his success and upholding of his promises, they are the means to an end. He needs them as much as he despises them. That's why leaving them, and Rikos death matters for Jean.

Kevin:

On the other hand we have the relationship between Kevin and Jean. We are given more insight on how Kevin got out of the Nest: by fucking over Jean. This scene or event is gutwrenching BUT it could be STRONGER if Jean would have known and been complicit with Kevin. Jean loved/liked at least cared about Kevin. Although his sense of duty is tied to Riko and the court, there would also be such a sense towards Kevin. Especially if Kevin came and asked him, directly. Confronting Jean with concieving him as a reliable, to be trsuted person. The one friend you count on the get you out of the shit. If one can help him, it is Jean. Because he is a Moreau. If we would read it as Jean accepting the consequences of helping Kevin, we would lose this ark of betrayal. But we would not need to erase the discontent and hurt Jean holds towards Kevin. For Kevin would have known and relied on Jean's self understanding, and played him. Used him as means of an end. Asking a person who is used to compromising their own safety, who understands themselves as a rock at a shore and understands the pain and fear one goes through - calling/playing on that is as much as a betrayal and use of a person as it is simple "not telling him". It makes it worse in some sense, because it highlights the intimacy between Kevin and Jean. They knew each other very well, and Kevin used that knowledge, in raven fashion, to survive.

(On the other hand, I would agree one could read it in the original way, Jean not knowing, because Kevin is aware of Jean's understanding of duty. That Jean would feel the sense that he NEEDS to betray Kevin. So there is still room for interpretation.)

SUMMERY:

Okay, okay. That was a lot. Let's surmise what I claim: That Jeans sense of self is shaped by duty, more explicitly the one he holds from his parents to be perfect court, please the Moriyamas and protect his family (sister).

Leaving the Ravens endangers all of this, all his sense of self and all he has done to achieve it.

Riko dying means there is never a way back, and he has failed. It upheaves all he is and wants, even though Riko and the Ravens did horrible things to him.

Neil making the deal with Ichiro formed a new duty, and gave him a way out. A compromise. Play court, but with USC. And still Jean loses a lot, or everything he considered constitutive of himself when he leaves the Ravens and comes to USC.

Whom he has duties to? Formerly his Raven partner, now? Jeremy offers to take the role. His experiences and background make him take duties towards the other Trojans to give him a sense of worth (asking if Cody is ok with touching/flirting with them.)

Neil drags him to the FBi and Stuard, and he comes to know all of his efforts to protect his family had been in vain. And it is that point in which his last tie of "old" sense of duty, breaks off. He cannot hold onto the same ideas and rules, duties and objectives as before.

For Jean, this break  is what is for Neil the end of a whole arc.

Whilst AFTG and TSC are similar in theme, they are very different in their outset. Whilst Neils whole arc is about getting and learning his new identity, Jean has to go through that all in one book. That's why we see and feel a great parallel between both characters, but also the arc itself. The telling of information, the parallel of fear of losing the old and gaining the new. Of betraying one's old identity/family in the end, and offer of a new, better, alternative.

However, Jeans arc does not end there. His story appears to be more about healing and the disconnect between outer, imposed, duty and value, and self-worth.

I think that's also why we get so little insight of Jeremys conflict in the first book. We get enough hints that have very likely to do with Jeremy being gay, stepfather, cops, maybe drugs and the family being publicly known. It has to do with imposed identity from the outside, self vs outer worth and dealing with that. We get so little from Jeremy, not only because he is an expert in talking and thinking around his own problems and issues, but because the story has Jean not ready yet. Jean first has to come in the same state Jeremy has been, or is in, before they both start pushing and pulling each other. Like Andrew and Neil could only start developing after Neil starts to compromise and change his sense of self, his willingness to be more than simple lying Neil Josten.

The same applies for Jean and Jeremy. But the end goal is about healing, and creating one's own self worth, rather than becoming a whole new self.

hey!!! to answer ur question i love gwen very dearly and shes one of my favorites!! shes probably the charatcer ive drawn the most bc i draw her all the time traditionally. Shes also the character ive done the most fanon stuff for as her drastic personality shifts between series kind of make it so u have to be fanon-ey lol. i kind of merge classic gwen's bitchiness pettiness and general childishness with uaf gwens maturity and (while not very present in the show) angst potential. as for what gwen i think is the best i still always love classic gwen bc i paticularly hate how they made gwen a mom character and also nullified a lot of her personality to make gwevin work. i just love girls that suck lol, but i do like uaf gwen for the anodite stuff, which plays into my super ultra fanon hcs and my 'gwen is trans' conspiracy, plus i like that her villians changed to reflect her struggles in a way in uaf, becoming less fun evil magic people and more cruel predators preying on her and the people she loves.

i dont really know how to condense my gwen fanon into single headcanons lol, i have a very complex narrative in my head about her.

-before the roadtrip one of her worst fears was transformation, she used to watch movies where someone would be transformed into something against their will and get really scared which she became more desensitized to bc of ben but which is also one of the reasons she is extremely distressed by her not being a real human. she has nightmares all the time of her stepping out of her skin and it being stolen from her so shed be stuck as an anodite forever

-she loves computery stuff and coding and the like, and when she went to college she majored in compsci. she lost this interest around uaf bc she was stressed due to the anodite thing and the DNaliens invading but she picked it back up around ov. shes likd of sad cooper was such a creep to her because she wanted to talk computers with him

-she doesnt like being alone in public so she always takes ben or kevin with her anywhere.

-shes very bad at making female friends because she has a tendency to hate most girls she knows for insignificant reasons or just the mere association of them and ben. shes only able to really become friends with girls who r either unrelated to ben or who shes forced to be around all the time. this is also why she hates all her girl cousins (shes kind of a mysoginist lol)

-shes very judgy and often very harsh in her judgements and not easy to trust, but she puts on an air of being trusting and nice so as to not appear hostile or mean. she did this with kevin and never really trusted him fully even when she was trying to get him to ask her out. she only really trusts grandpa max and ben in her life, then later kevin.

-her mom didnt allow her to have a lot of sugar as a kid because it made her irritable, but once she goes to college she contracts a crippling orange soda addiction

Mal by @mahvaladara simply because he is who he is, and I have a love for characters that break the fourth wall frequently. An overpowered (we could say god really) that still grapples with human stuff and with a sense of humor that I adore, well, how can I not love him.

Roy by @treason-and-plot cause dam he is a whole mess and then some sometimes, and the way you just know what head thinks a lot of the time is just perfect.

Taryn by @lazysunjade because he is a dragon, and I relate to him in a lot of ways. He has a way of thinking and dealing with things that I recognize all to well.

Courtney by @rebouks there aren't enough strong females anywhere really, and she is everything I like in a character in general, she has so many layers, and I think I still need to learn much more about her.

Jayden by @dandylion240 because well, that charatcer went from one of my most disliked, to one of my most liked one over the years, and there is very little that warms ones heart like a character that changes for the one they love, right?

we need to talk about the memory wipe problem.

so, as some of you may be aware, some writers really do love writing zatanna as the character to go when they need to use a memory wipe storyline. the problem is, it doesn't suit much of her character at all - she has done it some times in the comics and one of them is particularly disgusting but i won't get into it ( you can find about it here ). but, zatanna wouldn't do it: in my perception she's a very generous character and someone who respects individuality and free will. i mean, i do believe that the first word is one of the core aspects of what makes her great anyway, and was the case ever since she was created.

but beyond that, the memory wipe goes further than just erasing someone's memory. she did it to change another person's belief and chore values to suit her own's or someone else's. like it happened to selina:

but writing this kind of storyline butches her character. zatanna takes magic seriously, when it comes to her abilities she's very clean and organized - ruthless sometimes? definitely - but doing this is crossing a line she would never do because it goes above what she is required in her position as mistress of magic and literally violates another person. zatanna, whose voice was taken off multiple times, tied, hypinotized, and captured to have her core (her powers) stolen or drained knows how this feels - her memory was wiped by her own father and she cried over it. so no, this destroys her for multiple reasons:

it doesn't explore her thought process while doing it nor gives it reasoning beyond well, she can do it, so why wouldn't she?

it never is about her reason or issues, only about someone else's (like erasing batman's memory to make him comply to the league's will, or selina's memory about his identity which thankfully zee didn't follow through)

it never ties into memory wiping to the stage magician perception of hypotization and the like, which granted could be cool and wouldn't be so far fetched - zatanna can manipulate, invade and even change someone's mind, but how would she do it? would it be immoral? or would be done for a small detail? something that didn't go beyond a small confusion?

it is so overdone it was almost her character trait at one point.

the only way i see her doing it in on pure, almost heartbreaking pressure from the outside and even so, she'd be broken afterwards.

am i saying zee is a perfectly moral charatcer? not at all. she transforms people into animals, objects, she places curses on villains - but she does try to do it to people who deserve it and even then, she never goes too far, never goes beyond what she deems as righteous (though to someone from the outside her idea of it is quite blurry) : but violating someone's psyche like this, their whole existence, is something she won't do even to the worst of the worst, because in a way, it's worse than dying and far too similar to abuse. at least, not my zatanna and not my take on her.

(I'm not comparing the importance of the works. I'm comparing the greed of persons or corporations. Even though works of art can be categorized from good to better to eternal, corporative cheap tricks are all the same, the only difference is the amount of money. That's why laws are written by the rich: to stay rich).

At some point, the creator's work is declared "Property of humanity", when, in reality, is the property of a few rich persons or institutions.

(with detours for a little skysolo because i am insane) 

There is so much beauty in his charatcer, so much complexity, so much to learn, I do not even know where to start.

Ah, of course, HIS PASSIONS. You can not understand how life-changing, gut-wrenching, heart throbbing it is to see a small town, farm working kid have love for exploring, have passions for speed, for escape for freedom, for LIFE. Wanting to live not just survive, that's what Luke is all about, THAT'S why he argues with Owen, because Owen is an old settled man, plus, he is a little cowardly about the threat of the Empire, having known everything from Obi-Wan, but Luke? Ohh no. Luke will not have it. 

Luke will dive right in, head fight, no stops, brakes to the floor. That's probably my favorite scene of him in the the added anh radiodrama hour at the start, the one where he is racing in the canyon with his 'friends' (It's in quotation marks because it's people who barely tolerate him and honestly bully him but there is noone else for him to go to, relat-). He is so enthusiastic, there is such a BURN in him for this, for flying, that even the girl that was in the speeder with him screams at Luke for recklessness after they win the race (also, hello that skysolo comic where luke helps han win a race, and gets to cross the finish line with him, smiling widely, because OF COURSE HE MISSED IT, OF COURSE HE NEED HOME AND COMFORT. save me skysolos, like you save each other.) 

But I feel like what many further projects forget is that Luke also has a knack for mechanics. He kind of has to, since nobody will fix, improve, care for that old speeder for him. It's just a means of getting to tbe moisture vaporators for Owen, but it's the only sliver of freedom on Tatooine for Luke. It's not stated, but I feel implied that he hangs out in the garage, he seems to be used to fixing droids, there are scrape parts laying around, it's kind of implied that he fixed his own X-wing on Daegobah, and let's all say again THANK YOU ANH RADIODRAMA for a small, but none the less insanely important to my heart bit of Han saying Luke is repairing the Falcon for him. That is Han's home, and to trust Luke to repair it, to trust enough to leave him alone while he does it.. oh, deep conversations that led to buildong of mutual trust and devotion were held in those metal corridors, trust me, I am star war. (also, another little radiodrama tidbit, upon first meeting c3po and r2 introduce themselves to han as workers of 'skywalker meitenance service', and it's such a cute and funny bit).

And when I say he is 'all in' when it comes to his passions, don't think I am forgetting that cutesy little ship that he plays with. (but first of all, i don't think i will ever feel as validated as by the 19 yo protagonist of best saga in the world being shown in his garage essentially going 'brrrrrr' with a little toy spaceship) 

Listen, I don't have many gripes with Kenobi series, I am as much of a father apologist as the next person, but OH MY FORCE I am NEVER accepting that scene where he is the one to give Luke that freaking toy. Nope. Nu-huh. Nada. Because, firstly, it ruins Luke's integrity a little bit, with how much conflict is built around him and Owen (more on that later), as now it is presented not as Luke's own decisions, but lowkey Obi-Wan dropping hints into kid Luke to become a pilot.

I wanted to quote my essay on Luke, Owen, and parental issues, but maybe another time. Let's instead talk about how Owen completely disregards Luke's interests in favour of his own motives (a lot of it is backed up radiodrama exclusives). Owen punishes Luke and puts him on home arrest for engaging in his passions (the race). Owen bursts out and angrily shuts down Luke's questuons about his father's past as a pilot. Owen actively ignores his dream and preaches only 'manual labour and the betterment of the farm' and what's worse: he lies to Luke, telling him that he can apply to the academy next year and then when time comes, backing pit of the promise, wrapping it in a plea for help, in care for the house, the greater cause if you will, and another empty promise. This is manipulation, this is abuse, and I don't care how many 'it's to protect Luke, when Luke is not listening Owen is nice' you wrap it into OWEN SHOUKD HAVE TALKED TO LUKE. THIS SHIT IS PAINFUL, IT'S AWFUL, AND IT TAKES AWAY ANY TRUST YOU HAD. 

And still Luke is loyal. That is the crown jewel of his character, that is his essence, that is why sequels do not work.

Riddle Rosehearts

Riddle never understood what love was, it was something he has always observed and noted from afar. Seeing people enact affection with each other easily made him stick out his tongue at the scene. What was so appealing about it, he would wonder

Yet now he has a partner, someone who has accepted him despite being the acclaimed 'crimson tyrant.' And now he's starting to see things through a different view.

Still he was cautious, but he did know that he liked you; however, in his eyes love was a big word and should be used sparingly.

The moment of change came when he was taking care of the hedgehogs along with his partner. It was amongst his favorite ways to pass the time during his scarce moments of freetime; the moment was only amplified with his partner being there to share that rare moment together

As his partner played with the little creatures, Riddle couldn't help but fixate his gaze on them, his eyes captivated by the sight. That's when it dawned on him that he has never shared such a moment with anyone else. Everyone else were all afraid of him but not you. You opened your arms and heart to him. And as he continued to stare, he suddenly felt a stronger emotion fill his chest.

It was late within the Heartslabyul dorm, many students were preparing for a night's rest whilst others did some last minute studying.

But for their dorm leader, he did neither. Instead, he took the opportunity to spend some well needed leisure time in the garden of the dorm. The garden was lush in greenery, trees and bushes scattered around with little roses painted the way he wanted. It was perfect.

But that was the least of his concerns. Instead his focus was fixated on the person in front him, you. In your lap lay a small little hedgehog no bigger than your hand; the creature attempted to snuggle into the fabrics of your shirt, causing you to burst into little fits of laughter. Riddle's eyes soften at the sound of your giggles, reaching his ears like little soft tunes. A smile pierced his usually cold expression as he observed the interaction between the two.

A month, that's how long he has been dating you. It went by in a blur but he can still recall every moment clearly. Yet despite that, he was yet to come to terms with his feelings. 'I like you, I like you, I like you,' his mind would sing to him whenever he saw you. Love was yet to be mentioned. The word was enough to make his cheeks burn hot, turning into the same shade of his hair. However, he wasn't sure about it, not yet at least. Growing up, the redhead had never had a clear understanding of love, being sheltered by his mother his whole life he was deprived of such feelings. But he isn't with his mother anymore and he wanted to decide for himself.

Riddle tore his eyes away from the hedgehog, turning his gaze on your face instead. He took note of the many details on your face; how your mouth widened when you laughed, the way your eyes wrinkled whenever you were excited- he was captivated by it all.

'Strange', he thought to himself, his gaze remaining unchanged. Now that he recalls, he has never shared a moment like this with anyone before. Tending to the hedgehogs was a task he often did by himself with the exception of Trey who offered a hand from time to time. Yet this felt different to him. He started craving moments like these, wanting to spend more time with it even though his responsibilities as a dorm leader could pull him awhile at any given moment.

But why? He tended to the hedgehogs so many times before, why was it so yearning now? Was it because he was spending it with another person? He has done so in the past and had been void of this feeling, so what was different? Yes- you were his partner, it did leave him wanting to spend more time with you but the intensity was much greater, it caused butterflies to fly in his stomach.

The more he thought of it, the more he started to feel a fickle of emotions dance within his chest. The feeling was something unfamiliar to him, strange and foreign but not entirely unwelcome either. It was warm and made his heart flutter in ways never before. 'What is this?' He questioned. His brows furrowed in frustration as he was unable to understand these emotions.

" Riddle?"

Your voice lulled him out of his thoughts. His eyes widened as he met your stare, a perplexed look drawn on your features. "Are you alright? You seem distracted by something." You inquired, your attention no longer placed on the hedgehog at your lap.

Riddle's gaze softened, a smile replacing his surprised one. "Ah- it was nothing, no need to worry." Although his response was short, it was enough to satisfy you and so your attention shifted back to the creature on your lap.

Unbeknownst to you, Riddle continued to stare, his eyes once again taking in the details- how your hair moved in the breeze, how gentle your fingers were with the delicate body of the hedgehog, how you gazed at him with nothing but care and devotion. You truly weren't afraid of him, you've accepted him, his flaws and everything.

Closing his eyes, Riddle allowed the emotions to dwindle his chest, finally coming to terms with it.

It was love

Jamil Viper

Love was something that felt so far for Jamil. He was accustomed to having everything he wanted going to those of a higher status to him, wealthier. Luckier. He had grown use to this however, rarely reacting whenever something was taken from him- he knew he couldn't fight it as much he wished

But somehow, amongst it all, he found a partner, something he thought would not be possible considering his situation. It was rare opportunity and Jamil took it

Like Riddle, he doesn't fling around words like 'love' often. He finds it to be a form of weakness and vulnerability, something he dislikes being seen as. Still, he was interested in you, and was curious to what this new profound relationship may blossom into. Despite that, he still kept his emotions in check, always in tune with what he was feeling.

The moment of change came when his partner took the time out of their day to take care of him, acts of service to put it simply. For Jamil, he was so used to taking care of himself and doing work for others- that having another person to do it felt strange.

He resisted at first, but had to cave in as you were relentless about helping him. That was foreign to him, but he wasn't against it either- if anything it felt refreshing to be able to rely on someone else other than himself.

And as you worked away, making him little foods and getting him as relaxed as possible to receive some proper rest- along with the fact that you're doing this because you wanted too- Jamil swore his heart exploded, leaving a new feeling behind in its place.

Jamil let out a long sigh laced with exhaustion as he placed the bowl formly filled with shawarma in the sink beside the other clutter of dishes. His eyes bored onto the mess in front of him, more stuff to be cleaned and the responsibility fell onto his hands. But being a servant his whole life he had become used to doing the many tedious tasks that the dorm asked of him- even if it boiled his blood.

Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Jamil got to work on the dishes, turning the sink handle and allowing the cold water to rush out. Diligently, he picked up the glass plates and got to work on cleaning them. With each plate and silverware, his fingers grew fatigued, endlessly weaving through the dishes; but Jamil knew he couldn't stop, he was a servant- this was his job.

"Jamil!" A voice called out, bouncing off the kitchen walls. Jamil nearly dropped the plate in his hands when the voice hit his ears, catching him off guard. Your head was peeking around the corner of the corridor leading to the kitchen, your eyes glancing around for your boyfriend.

A smile quickly curled onto your lips as you spotted him, still working away on the dishes in front of him. However your smile quivered into a frown as you took note of how his shoulder drooped, no doubt being from the endless work Kalim puts him through. " You know Jamil, you've done a lot today, why don't you take a break?" You said, noting how his slow movements. Jamil waved off your concerns with a flick of his wrist.

" Not now," was all he replied, his voice curt and blunt.

That wasn't good enough for you however, and with a puff, you pulled on his arm, dragging him away to a nearby couch. " Gah- y/n-!" Jamil protested his arms flailing around momentarily, attempting to pry away from your grasp, but you continued to hold on tightly.

" You are going to sit down and rest for a bit!" You stated, sitting him down on the couch. Jamil scoffed, going to get up but was immediately blocked by you; the action caused him to click his tongue in annoyance. Your eyes softened, your stern look being replaced by a worried one. "Jamil, your eyes are dropping, when was the last time you properly slept?"

He gave no response to that, he knew you were right to a degree. Instead he opted to brush off the question and he chided back with, " I need to finish cleaning dishes, then do kalims Landry, I don't have time for this y/n."

" I'll do it." Your reply was swift, causing him to pause in his tracks. " But first, I'm going to make you some sandwiches and see to it that you rest. I can deal with Kalim."

Jamil attempted to protest again, but alas all his sentences were rebuttal by you. And whenever he tried to get up, he was promptly sat back down, earning a glare from your end. As much as he tried to fight against it, your relentless nature forced him into defeat. So he sat there, resorting to watch you work instead. 'You shouldn't be lifting a finger' he thought, clicking his tongue again as he watched you piece together a sandwich. As you went to slice the sandwich into parts you heard your boyfriend call from behind, "You're going to cut yourself, let me to do it."

If anything that only made you upset, can't you do anything nice for your boyfriend? "Jamil, please let me do this, it pains me to see you overwork yourself. For once, allow someone else to take care of you, okay? And if I cut my finger then you can scold me all you want. Just… let me do this for you, please."

Jamil remained silent, unable to find a good response to that- knowing you'll just find a way to prove him wrong again. And with that you continued to make the sandwich. Meanwhile your words repeated in his head. He was bewildered and in disbelief at first. 'I'm just a servant, I was not meant to have this' the thought ran through his head like a plague. He was so used to taking care of others that the actions of someone doing that to him felt so odd and strange. But yet there you were, adamant on doing something for him, disproving all his initial thoughts. Although abnormal, he couldn't lie, it felt nice to rely on someone else even for a split second.

'They want to take care of me' that easily made Jamil snicker in amusement, he was still coming to terms with that reality. But as much as he shook his head at the idea, that didn't mask the little feeling growing his chest ever so suddenly.

He was drawn out of his thoughts as you approached him with a tray of sandwiches in hand. " Why are you doing this?" He asked, eyeing the sandwiches- sandwiches made for him and him alone, by your hand.

" Huh? Well, I care about you! You are always doing something for someone, it's time someone repaid that." The feeling in his chest only intensified at your words. He could feel his heart swell as well, a sensation that had only occurred a few times prior but none as similar to this. It was as though little butterflies rushed within him, each presenting a different and new emotion.

You took one of the sandwiches, inching it to his mouth. " Now come on, eat. I'll even feed you~" You cooed teasingly. Jamil blush a deep crimson red as he gazed away in embarrassment; however, he couldn't mask the rhythm of his heart increasing, a new form of warmth sprouting with each beat.

Rook Hunt

Let's be real for a quick second, Rook was probably already in love with you prior to the relationship! When he gets with someone, it's with the intentions of loving them dearly and serenading them in lots of affection

His whole character and personality is based on romance after all; reciting love poems, stories and little phrases all tied into the concept in some way.

Rook is also someone who is very very in tune with their emotions as well. So when he feels a bubbly feeling dwelling in his chest, he already knows what it is without question. He doesn't fight it either, becoming enamored with the feelings dancing within his chest

So I think what would make him realize he's in love is when his partner expresses that they accept him and all his dramatic gestures- that he's perfect. Rook is aware that he can ramble off, and that often annoys other students. He knows this but shrugs it off- however, with his partner, deep down he hopes that they won't find it annoying. That he isn't too much

And there you are, someone who accepts his endless rambles and even hold open arms towards it, easily making his heart skip a beat. You were never annoyed or bored by him, even laughing along. Rook craves that.

And when you tell him that he's perfect, he could feel that warm feeling in his chest tingle, and he already knew what it was

Stares.

Rook was all too familiar with stares. Being the vice leader of Pomefiore among other things, he was guaranteed to gain some curious looks from other students. Rook wasn't against it, in fact he was also very observant of other students, often prying into the personal gossip of their lives.

But the stares he received weren't always one of curiosity or admiration. Some were a glance of irritation. Displeasure. Annoyance.

Rook was a man of many words, perhaps too many words in the eyes of other students. He was known to go off on tangents on his interest, his mouth finding new terms to produce even if he had been rambling for hours. His words were also sophisticated, mixing two languages together to form a complicated sentence- one many can not easily decipher. Not to mention his use of nicknames, having a unique one for each student who happens to cross paths with him. Many found this annoying. And Rook wasn't oblivious to this either, fully aware of their view on him; however, it was always met by a shrug on his end. He didn't care.

The hunter let out a sigh as he headed to his next class, though he stopped on his tracks when he heard a faint "Rook" call from behind him. The voice was familiar, belonging to none other than his partner, perhaps among the only few who were able to tolerate his nature- yet, he was still cautious, observant to what may happen.

With a turn on his heel, he was met with your gaze, a smile decorating your features. " Found you!" You giggled, skipping over to him.

The hunter let out a hefty laugh, a smile growing on his own lips. " Ah mon Cheri, it seems you have." He rested one hand on his chest while the other was outstretched beside him, forming one of his ever popular dramatic gestures.

Your giggles only continued in response. The sound reached Rook's ears, feeling like little melodies kissing the tips of his lobes. " Ah- always full of surprises, you truly are a trickster, my dear. Even I have fallen prey to your traps and still you continue to capture me with that beautiful face of yours, unscathed by your tactics. Your skin is still glowing as ever, and your eyes twinkle, reminiscent of the stars dancing in the night sky. So captivating." More words continued to fall from his lips, even when his mouth ran dry he had something to say.

You felt your face grow hot at his compliments as a sheepish smile crept its way to your lips. You looked away shyly, your gaze fixating on your shoes instead. Rook took immediate notice of this, his words coming to an abrupt stop. " Ah my apologies, mon cheri. I mustn't ramble too much, lest risk your ears falling off." He felt a heavy pang settle in his chest, it seems he got his own partner to be exhausted of his ramblings; however, he hid this with chuckle with a forced smile stretching on his lips.

" No, not at all!" You scrambled to say, your hands going to grab his. " Actually," you started your voice trailing off almost as though you were embarrassed. " I don't mind your constant rambling. I'm just not used to being complimented so much, you're the first to ever say such sweet things about me. And you always have something to say about the things you like, whether it be poetry or hunting." The blush on your face only grew brighter as you spoke.

" I like that about you."

Rook felt his eyes widened at the words that slipped from you, his breath hitching in his throat. The dreaded feeling in his chest evaporated and instead was placed with an emotion unfamiliar to him. Rook didn't have to question it, he already knew what it was. Still the feeling played along the surface of his heart, your words still echoing in his ears.

A rare smile danced on his lips. A genuine smile- not one of manipulation, wishing to gain something or with an ulterior motive. It was one of pure bliss, warmth reflecting off his features. Taking your hand, he brought it to his lips, placing a tender kiss to the knuckle. The action caused you eclict a little laugh. That only intensified the feeling in his chest.

Rook closed his eyes, continuing to take in your giggles while also immersing himself within the emotions. Although it was foreign, he accepted it with open arms just as you had with him. Like a flower, it planted within his heart and blossomed throughout his body, kissing each flaw and imperfection he had.

He was sure of what it was, and he made an oath to never let that feeling go. Love. That was something he will now fight for, even if others stare down at him with disapproval. As long as you're there in the end to open your heart to him, then Rook will sacrifice anything.

" Ah, mon cheri. You have no idea of the effect your words have on my heart."

oh nono! im also afraid of offending when discussing topics this long lol! but i get it- i think i personally just dont think much how jian yi needs to be clearer, but rather if zhen xi will become more than a man of just "actions" but also maybe more "words" as well. because the more jian yi shoots in the dark of what will/wont work to see if zhen xi is actually into him, theyre both going to get nowhere! we're already confused with zhen xis feelings toward jian yi after his confession in that basketball chapter, so i just imagine its still confusing in the future since all zhen xi gives off is "i already like you enough to be friends-what else you want from me." like i literally forgot jian yi already straight up confessed until i was writing this, so now im like "ahh now i know why im waiting for zhen xi to be the one to say something," cause he knew damn straight for years haha!

i think im just hesitant too because i dont fully get still these comparisons of charatcers and the results of development though their actions. like even your point “hey dude we’re not boyfriends why are you touching me without my consent”- i swear i dont mean to point fingers but i see that with tianshan too. hetian is now getting more humble but that wasnt always the case. so i just dont get how one couple is getting these different results when i see similarities in both- unless the answer is just the beauty of diversity in writing/characters and how they get together.

and i wouldnt say jian yi is sly persay- i always interperted it as a purposeful parallel with tian (i just love parallels, boy lmty). like you got two guys who both want to be confident and take initiative- one is more sucessful, the other has more characteristics that counteract that. bc i dont think jian yi is shy at all- just scared. he has breakdowns whenever his sexuality is brought up or his feelings revealed toward his best friend. i think its more like he wants to be seen as confident and forward as hetian, but is wrapped up in these fears and his dummy ways that he just goes from 0 to 100 way too quick for his own good. i hope this doesnt make you see him as the villain though loll!

ZZX asked, it didn’t came out of JY freely, I believe that Xixi and all of us understood that he needed to give an answer but, and please don’t take this the wrong way, even tho is taking him forever he didn’t turn him down, between the kiss and the confession ZZX made up his mind to give this a chance it is fair to take your time to give a reply when you’re not sure about your feelings, in my opinion is way worse to jump into a relationship just because your best friend likes you and JY isn’t asking to be more than that, let me be clear Xixi is taking him seriously and JY is the one who is content with being friends, for some people they rather stay friends forever than live without them. True JY gave a big step forward when he kissed ZZX but he’s also the one who asked to just be friends, he’s the one who’s always telling ZZX to ask other people out and people can tell me that this is because JY doesn’t see any interest but the guy keeps telling him “what about you?” Could we give ZZX the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe just maybe he is also waiting for JY to make up his mind?? To be ready and decide if he wants something more?? Is not easy for both of them, but in the future when JY is not harassing ZZX the later one gives him what he isn’t asking, I’m not talking about the kiss but reassurance

Different couples different outcomes

I see the point of HT is also touching Mo but the big difference is that HT did it since day 3, ZhanYi never had this kind of interaction, they do behave like a couple some times but not in the hands all over each other type contrary to TianShan, not saying that JY doesn’t want to just that he tries in the wrong way.

I have been talking about the He Tian effect for quite a while, basically people see HT fucking thriving and think that maybe they should be more like him and just erase the word shame of their vocabulary, problem is that this strategy is made to work with Mo Guan Shan and Mo Guan Shan only, it looks easy but HT didn’t just woke up one day and said “today I’m gonna give zero fucks about personal space and just go for it” nope this man carefully studied MGS reactions and made a tailored strategy to win his affections, the case study of cargo in the elevator is a good reference for this, he does loses his patience and comes out as a brute but that is not all he’s doing or what’s helping him win MGS’s heart, although JY may think that that’s the case, so he is trying to behave similarly, he should try to just open up, ZZX not being MGS would give him what he wants, I would expect for JY to know this.

yes JY is scared in the present time, only in front of ZZX tho because when he’s with other people he doesn’t hesitate to express what he wants, but if he isn’t ready to risk nothing he isn’t going to win no matter how much he waits and that is not ZZX’s fault, over all I think ZZX has been understanding but he can do so much without forcing JY to make up his mind because he clearly already made his

Things just got worse in the future, in my opinion and here is where I see him cunning, as you said if both of them can’t agree that they need to talk about it they’re doom, we know that they’re not but how they’re going to get together is still a mystery to me although I have my money in ZZX giving up on JY ever talking clear to him and just telling him “this is the date for our wedding just do me a favor an show up in time”

It is frustrating although i believe that OX is consistent with the character and i still have hopes that one day he’s going to realize that he needs to change his strategy because is not working, at least not at the speed we would prefer.
