#who am i to claim that anything i make deserves to be called “art”?

Been playing around with the "smudge" tool in GIMP, trying to improve this magazine cover I made a while back w/ Inkscape.

Obviously, it's a riff on Time magazine. I liked the idea of a publication of record with a "handprint" motif, since some of the oldest records of human civilization we have are handprint cave paintings, and there's kind of a poetic symmetry in the idea that the first and last records of our existence on Earth might be sort of the same.

The specifics are all part of one of my ongoing worldbuilding projects that I've been kicking around for a long time--some small bits I've posted before. The lore is in constant flux, but the gist is this:

On December 5th, 2012 an alien spacecraft crashes into Inner Mongolia at an appreciable speed of light. The collision is so violent it knocks the Earth partially off its axis and destroys most of East Asia. In addition, the collision produces some kind of global EMP that sets a lot of the world's electrical infrastructure on fire.

Everyone panics, things are very bad.

It's discovered that something the spacecraft did shortly before impact has eaten a hole into the Earth's magnetic field.

Two years later, another, similar spacecraft is detected. The United States manages to damage it with nuclear weapons before it crashes into the North Pole. There's no EMP pulse, 'cause of the damage inflicted, but the North Pole is melted and Earth's axis is further disrupted.

A lot of international politicking occurs. The UN forms an international military alliance (UNIMETS) to protect against further a potential Third Contact and any further Contacts. The United States and some other nations leave the UN and sort of mangle NATO into a second, competing international military alliance (GDTO).

A third spacecraft does indeed appear in early 2021, and the GDTO and UNIMETS are unable to coordinate sufficiently to destroy or damage it. It crashes into Fennoscandia, and the EMP from First Contact repeats itself. Much of Europe is destroyed.

UNIMETS and the GDTO merge into a single world military government for the purpose of planetary protection. This alliance is named SEGh, for the proto-indo-european word meaning "to hold" or "to overpower".

More spacecraft continue to appear, with a period of roughly five or so years. Not all of them target Earth--Fourth contact hits Mars, for example--and the world's nuclear weapons stocks are quickly depleted. North America is destroyed, SEGh headquarters retreat to Antarctica (now free of ice and much warmer, as the Earth tumbles in all three axes). The Bureau for Experimental Warfare (BXW)--SEGh's primary weapons R&D team, operating under the Department for Preservation of Life (DPoL)-- develop an interesting new technology allowing them to alter the relative rate of time within a small radius.

It is determined that very, very few people can withstand extremely high or low relative rates of time. Something about souls? IDK, I haven't worked it out yet. DPoL officials decide to kidnap conscript the three potential candidates they identify.

The rate of time altering technology (now called Time Optimizers) are put to use building special space combat suits (Strategic Time-Optimizing Powered Suits, also STOP Suits or occasionally STOPSes), and our three heroes are put to work trying to destroy the alien ships. Much drama, much tragedy. If this sounds a lot like I'm just ripping off Evangelion...yeah. Pretty much.

Eventually the last (Thirteenth) Contact is prevented, and then a lot of the lore starts to be very in-flux. There's a civil war between DPoL plus some other government organizations against the rest of SEGh when they refuse to stand down. Our heroes are made to pick a side. Eventually, the "rest of SEGh" side win, and our favorite global military dictatorship immediately dissolves itself in 2062.

Things are bad for a while. None of the newly-independent SEGh member states were prepared for autonomy or sovereignty, and things are even more bad for a couple of years. Lots of infrastructure failure.

Subsequently, the now-independent SEGh member states form a council to create a new--hopefully benevolent this time--world government. (Worth noting that the global population is way, way smaller now. Less than a billion. And a lot of land area is uninhabitable, either because it's just gone or because there's no magnetic field there anymore.) This is the first Working Group on Government.

More murky lore stuff I haven't decided yet. WGoG reforms once or twice, a space program begins (using an offshoot of Time Optimizers than alter distances instead of durations; these are called Space Optimizers) under the auspices of the Space Tele-Transport Board (STTB), Proxima Centauri b is terraformed, and most of humanity leaves Earth for it. Our heroes do... something.

The colony on the surface of Proxima Centauri b is named "Monument to the Living" and the orbiting space station supporting it is named "Monument to the Dead", thus the above magazine title.

Then it gets even murkier. I think I might have some kind of space war between the aerospace companies and the Space Board? 'Cause only the STTB is allowed to operate spacecraft with Space Optimizers and they want to start their own private colonization efforts? IDK. Our heroes are involved somewhere. Maybe they'll still have their STOP suits, maybe not. IDK.

It’s unfair that people don’t recognize Viktor for the brilliant person he is. Summary: After his time in the wastelands of Piltover, Jayce is thrown back further in the past then he intended, and finds himself standing in front of a version of his partner, before they invented Hextech. Maybe he has more options than he'd thought. And maybe, just maybe, he can allow himself to be cared for, for once. “There will be time for questions later… Come.” Viktor holds out a hand, helping the other man to his feet with some difficulty. “You need a bath.”

Summary: Three weeks, and the south-facing side of his apartment is still missing, and they won’t even let him sleep there with a tarp tacked over it, because the ‘structure of the building was compromised’ and it’s ‘not fit for habitation’, as if student housing, even student housing on the Kiramann’s dime, ever had any claim on habitability in the fucking first place. “I've been sleeping at the lab, Viktor.” (which he probably would’ve done anyway, but it’s matter of principle–it’s–okay, it’s fundamental question of free will and fair housing practices and not having to live with his mother, who publicly called him a lunatic) Sometimes, you are a genius, and a sizable explosion knocks out most of your living space, and you end up living with your research partner, and it's only weird if you make it weird.

He's proud of his work, but he outright rejects any opportunities to brag about his work at galas. He's cold and sharp when he interacts with people, but he makes time to think about every child in the Undercity. He's mesmerizing, but he's also the guy who will whack Jayce in the shins if Jayce makes one more wrong remark about an equation. Jayce can't help but fall for him. (A collection of moments where Jayce learned more about Viktor as a person. It is hard not to observe someone as unique as Viktor; it is harder not to fall in love with him.)

I was wrong about the votv drama

I'll be honest that when the drama first started, I thought it was all just out of bullshit pettiness to get MrDrNose cancelled. So many people in the server have so many bad things to say about Kaiden, the guy who made the document, all those stories and claims about him, I believe them. I thought Kaiden was this unhinge weirdo that came from 4chan because so many other people in the community had so said so many things that make him seem like that. But as times goes on and the drama escalate even more, I just became tired and mad. I became part of the 'campaign' to get Kaiden gone from the internet for good. I was repeating the same baseless accusation that I heard from the server, taking it as facts without question. But now I just realized how much of an IDIOT I was. All those things that people were saying about Kaiden that make him look like a complete disgusting asshole are all complete bullshit to try and discredited and villainize him to make other people to bully and harass him into silence without knowing what said in the doc are true. The whole fanbase is a fucking echo chamber, everybody there are unhinge morons with the same fucked up belief that anybody who speak out on the bad things surrounding Drnose and his acquaintances are bad and deserve to be bullied. Seriously, here on tumblr or even in the official discord server there are people bullying and harassing other people for having a negative view on drnose, and the most crazy thing about that is that the mods are completely aware of this in the server, but they all choose to not do anything to stop it as if they don't care because the people that are getting bullied in the server believe nose is a scumbag, so they let the bullies get away with it. The eternitydev fanbase is actually completely corrupted and became a echo-chamber of insane people. These people have no care and humility, and that goes to the same with drnose. One of my friend's whose a patron told me about how he try to invalidate people criticizing him as nothing but insane and mentally ill people.

And than they told me about a drama in the librarian's discord between Drnose and kaiden and my god it just hurts to read.

And It's ironic how drnose tries shame kai as "being negative" when he went and call people mentally ill, just literally being ableist. As well as letting people in his damn discord server to continuedly trash talk, harass and make harmful bullshit accusation to get kai more harassed. Seriously, some of the people made claims that he was a pedo or that he sent rape art to people. I feel sick to my stomach from the guilt and the embarrassment. That I take these people's bullshit at face value without giving it much thought and simply repeating what they said makes me feel so ashamed. Do not believe a single thing these people say. Their either morons believing other morons lies and is just repeating it or they're an asshole purposely trying to misinform people into turning against a kid. These people will manipulate and gaslight you to try and make you take their side and help them harass a kid and anybody speaking about it into silence. To the people I bullied, I am sorry, I am an idiot for even taking nose's side. I was an idiot to believe everything they said without question.

I'm so so tired of seeing all the toxicity in the tsbs fandom. I know that it's been going on for so long but it hurts so bad watching it in real time.

Just the other day I was chilling in the discord server talking to people and someone started essentially catcalling Kat (i didn't see it, but they directly pinged her and said something nasty). I've seen creators I adored and aspired to be like bashing Flora and Davis for how their characters are dealing with Puppet's death and how the channel itself is moving into Charlie's arc.

And now, with the new channel, I've seen so many people upset about Lunar not getting another new channel. At a certain point, it doesn't become valid opinions, it just becomes blatant sexism. The creators have tried to call you out on it, the fans have called you out on it, the admins have called you out on it. Why can't some of you deal with your emotions like normal people?

I understand being upset about Puppet's death, I've read before about how humans struggle telling the difference between characters and real people, so seeing characters die sometimes your brain struggles to separate that from the death of someone you care about. And for the long term fans, fictives and fictionkins, and diehard fans that can become really difficult. I'm speaking from experience, I'm Constelic and when Puppet died I genuinely almost cried for like a week. I couldn't even handle watching the old videos, it *hurt*. But some people are taking it too far and I'm tired of it.

The creators don't owe us anything. They don't need to change things because that's how you want it. The Fem sun and moon show is going to be amazing, and you all are going to have to suck it up like adults, and deal with it. You're acting like toddlers who aren't getting what they want, and actual people are suffering because of it.

I'm a huge fan of the Eclipse and Puppet show right now, and seeing Flora take things over has been crazy exciting for me because I absolutely love her characters, I love her voice acting, and she is one of the most active VAs in the discord server with the fans. It's so cool to send some fanart or a rant in one of the channels, and see that the actual voice actor for the character you drew liked it. It's so cool!!! and she's so nice!!! And I am so scared that with the hate Charlie has been getting by a few well known fans will start causing her problems and we'll be just repeating Kat's situation again. They don't deserve that.

With how much sexism the fem VAs have to deal with, I'm honestly really excited to have a focus on Female Characters, because they deserve just the same amount of attention and adoration that the male ones do.

You are allowed to be upset about things. You are allowed to be disappointed. But when it gets to the point that you are saying things that could hurt other people, when you are directly sending hate to creators or being a creep, then maybe you need to take a step back from this thing you claim to like so much. People have too much strength behind the screens that they think won't ever do anything to other people, because they forget that people have their own lives, their own friends, their own minds and mental health. The people you don't know don't need to hear your opinions about their art.

If you want a different story, make an au. Write it yourself. Write fanfiction. Draw it yourself. If you don't have the skill to do that, learn. Stop hating on people who deserve so much better.

One thing I find EXTREMELY odd about a fandom I am in surrounding an anime I like is the racewashing/blackwashing art, now I'm not gonna get into my opinions on racewashing because wether you support it or not you have to admit what I'm about to say seems really dodgy In this anime there are multiple main characters of mixed race, majority of them being half european half japanese, I'm not sure how much representation of mixed people there are in anime but I can only really think of 3 anime where there are main mixed race characters, most of them only having 1 or 2 mixed race characters, but the anime I am talking about has about 4 mixed race main characters For some reason this fandom absolutely loves to racewash these mixed race characters and barely does it to any other characters. They always make them fully black (not even blasian) and they say they do it to add "more black representation" to the anime Now there are many reasons I find this dodgy, 1 being that of course they only ever do this with the mixed race characters, (or at the very least these are the most popular characters to do this to) not the fully asian characters, not the fully white characters, not to any character of any other race/ethnicity, not even the non human characters who don't have a canonical race/ethnicity, only the mixed race characters Apparently a lot of other fanbases with half white half japanese main characters have these problems too, and a lot of real life mixed people say that the people who only ever racewash mixed characters imply that these characters are "too white for them", which is of course a very racist thing to say about mixed race people who are half white Another reason I find this odd is that, A. A lot of the anime is set in Japan, so of course a lot of the characters will be Japanese or half Japanese, and I'm not saying that there aren't black people in Japan, but obviously majority of the people who live in Japan are Japanese B. There are black characters in the anime! Main characters too, now I can't speak on how good the representation is as I'm not black, but from what I can tell a lot of black people love this anime and the black characters (not to mention a lot of the people I see who racewash the mixed characters are not black, most I see are white people) so I don't see the need to add more representation to the anime by racewashing non black characters, let alone racewashing the mixed race characters who also seem to have a small amount of representation in anime. Like at the very least if someone wanted to race swap a character they'd do it with one of the many white characters and not the mixed race characters, or at the very very least they'd make the mixed race characters blasian and not fully black, or draw the non human characters who don't have canonical races as humans and make them black or any race they want, like I don't get why they're so obsessed with making mixed half white half asian people fully black In conclusion: this whole thing just confuses me and gives off extremely dodgy and racist vibes

Riverdale is Bad and I’m So Smart

So, I was going to make a response video to Friendly Space Ninja's video on the finale...but honestly, there are just other things I'd rather do with my time...

I did, however, write a script for the video. You can read that here if you wish.

The short version is that people who talk about art the way he does are fucking idiots and I'm tired of being nice about it. If you don't know what you're talking about, either figure it out or shut the fuck up. **And let me clarify: There is a big difference from expressing a personal opinion to friends and standing on authority with a huge platform to provide "critique". Huge difference. Not understanding or not liking the finale is totally valid, (It wasn't necessarily what I would have done with the final season) but what makes me angry about this guy in particular is that he positions himself as an authority on media criticism and analysis. He then provides the shittiest fucking examples of both. I can't stand it.

Hi. So. Our dear friend Friendly Space Ninja put out another video about Riverdale. This time, he took it upon himself to discuss the finale. Anything for a click, right, buddy?

Well, he made all sorts of claims about the finale and the final season. He gave his thoughts on the show as a whole. And all of it, dear viewer is entirely worthless. Strong statement, I know, but hear me out.

He didn’t watch the latter half of season 5, nor season 6 at all. He didn’t even watch all of season 7. He watched the first few episodes with specific expectations and when those were not met, he skipped to the end only to be baffled by its conclusion, claiming that it was all meaningless and even going as far as to “explain” quote unquote that Angel Tabitha’s rework of the timelines erases the other shows that Roberto Agurrie Sacasa has made. This, by the way, demonstrates such a lack of understanding of the surface level plot, that I can’t even respond to it.

For these reasons, I will not be refuting his assertions as I did in my last video response to him. It’s simply not worth it. His video is so deeply stupid that picking it apart would be giving it more credit than it deserves.

I was very diplomatic in my last response video, but I really don’t wish to be this time. I really don’t think it’s worth it.

However, I would like to say a few things, just to give you a sense of why I am so fucking angry.

Firstly, I’d like to talk about the work of Barnett Newman. In particular, I’d like to talk about Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue III. The first time I saw this painting, or even just paintings like it, I scoffed and said, “Why is something like this in a museum? It’s stupid. It’s just red, yellow, and blue. Is this even art?” Years later, however, I learned an interesting story about this painting.

In 1986 the painting was vandalized in an anti-Semitic attack. Daniel Goldreyer attempted to restore the painting in 1991. Should be easy, right? I mean, it’s just three colors.

However, the effort proved utterly unsuccessful as the depth of the color was incredibly difficult to replicate. The skill required to create this painting was far more than the untrained eye could perceive.

The first time I saw this painting, I did not understand it and condemned it as stupid because I was an arrogant prick.

And I’m sure hundreds of thousands of people who also don’t understand painting would agree with such a dismissive sentiment.

But just because I have millions of people agreeing with me doesn’t mean I know anything. It just means a lot of people don’t understand painting. That’s it.

Friendly Space Ninja’s video on Riverdale is the equivalent of someone looking at this painting and calling it stupid without understanding anything about abstract expressionism, painting techniques, and the works of Neoplasticism that this series was responding to.

It is watching Sunset Boulevard and complaining there is no color.  

It is the equivalent of an incel giving you dating advice.

But let me address Mr. Space Ninja directly and I won’t use any metaphors because I want this to be understood.

More than making a stupid response to Riverdale, your crime, Mr. Space Ninja, is arrogance. You look at a piece of art, you are utterly baffled by it, as you yourself say in the video, and you assume that the art must be the stupid one. It couldn’t be that it’s going over your head. No. It must be meaningless because you can’t grasp its meaning.

This is very troubling and also quite sad.

Though, I suspect you have no interest in providing useful insight into the works you discuss. It’s far more lucrative to provide inflammatory confirmation bias and, at the end of the day, that’s all you’re really doing. And to be clear, that is an insult. Wouldn’t want you to miss that. <3

Now, I also watched Alex Meyer’s video on the finale as well out of curiosity, as he also has a large platform. I haven’t watched his other videos because they seemed overtly negative about the show and I figured they wouldn’t be even remotely enjoyable. Curiosity won out though and honestly, though the sacred cow he is mocking is mine and thus, I disagree…I can’t fault him for this. There was a lot of care and thought that went into this. Even if he thinks the show is silly (and it certainly is) there’s a clear affection for it.

Not only that, but towards the end of the video he says this: “Time will be kind to your show. And all the chucklefucks like me with our kneejerk reactions? That's all going to fade away."

He also acknowledges the fact that there might be more to it than just the silliness. He doesn’t talk about it because he prefers to joke about the show rather than analyze it. He’s a jester, not a scholar. I could never fault him for that.

But I also don’t think anyone in their right mind would consider this critique. This is a comedy bit. And I’m not saying that comedy is less important or valuable than analysis. Not at all. It’s just different.

Anyway. Friendly Space Ninja. Fuck you.

That was why he felt such joy and relief when you dismissed every single one your parents brought in, right? He merely wanted the best for the future Queen of Hearts, is all. That was precisely why he was always around you. To fulfil his duty of course. Not because of ridiculous reasons like him wanting to be the suitor you chose - Trey and Cater really did have radiant fantasies, spewing atrocities on his precious Queen’s name by claiming that “she’ll never find a suitor if she keeps rejecting everyone.” You were merely a lady of high status, beauty and Grace - it’s only natural you’d want to find someone just like that for yourself.

You only deserve the best. Anything below that is merely an insult to your excellency. That was why he accepted becoming an executor anyways - sure, his position as a soldier was just as good, however getting to serve you so closely, and ridding all those worthless bastards of their life at your command was just what he wanted. Sometimes, even he had such ridiculous thoughts, that told him that only he was worthy of you. He’s already killed so much for you, he’s serving you every day, and he is the servant you’re the closest with. You laughed and cried in front of him - he’s seen all your sides, and Riddle’s accepted them all, growing indeed fond of them all. A beautiful Queen with a beautiful heart; someone who all the blood on his hands was the bare minimum. He’d do anything for you. As a soldier, as a friend, aspiring to be more than that… So, what difference would it make if there were two matching rings on your fingers?

Unlike those swines your parents sought for you to marry, he did not care about the throne at all, but merely about you as a person. Your beauty may have intrigued him at first, but in the end it was the beauty of your personality, your kindness, your forgiving smile, your slight guilt of him having to behead the judged criminals for your sake. Slowly but surely, Riddle had understood just how precious your pure soul was. And he had no intentions letting anybody taint it, no matter what.

New intro post! How exciting! This is my celebration for reaching 25 followers so fast! Thank you all for your overwhelming support in this journey, it really has been a lot.

If you're new here, my boyfriend and I are both introjected from extremely problematic medias revolving around a very bad person that lived in real life. We are both from fictional medias, bit the person of which we introjected is very much real, and We've gotten a LOT of shit for it.

Spaces that claim to be safe spaces for systems-- or God forbid, safe spaces for *problematic* introjects and alters, tend to be rude or spiteful towards individuals who are factives from problematic sources.

I firmly believe this hateful stance comes from a place of not understanding, so I've created this blog to give people who don't understand a chance to talk and speak to us without losing their cool as we also stay anonymous on this blog. They're always nice until they find out who you are /hj . Since it's creation, the blog has since turned into a big place for problematic factives to just feel safe and seen. I'm beyond happy about this, and glad my blog can serve both purposes. More under the cut!

We answer asks from people who have questions about us or about being problematic factives, we make positivity posts for problematic factives, problematic factive culture is... posts, and lots of other things you could think of. I can't tell you my name, but you can call me Anxiety. I'm the main mod and significantly less source connected/more source ashamed. I go by he/Anxiety with Anxiety being able to work in place of either a name or a pronoun. Unless the host is helping out with something, anything that isn't labeled comes from me. I'm the only one out of the two of us with the physical ability to type so when he posts something, it's a little special occasion and deserves a label.

I was gonna put this in tags but it got to long so get some unfiltered opinions loser.

As someone who writes and is learning to draw, and has played with generative algorithms a bit and knows how they work, Fuck 'AI'.

I see people be praised for 'AI' products, I saw someone say that it is a lot of work to find a good product, and the best metaphor I can think of that these people will understand is that I am a chef, even if armature or learning, and I am watching dishes I pour my heart and soul into get less recognition than someone presenting a re-heated pizza.

I start, often from scratch, when I create my works. I build from the ground up a dish I would be well happy to eat. Heck, even if I follow recipes(using refs or pre-existing writing prompts), I am still putting in the effort to make it good and, more importantly, I am making it with my own two fucking hands. I mix the dough, I spread the sauce, I cut the toppings.

But with 'AI'? With 'AI' you do not make anything. You walk to the store, you choose something that sounds appetizing, and then you chuck it in the oven for a few minutes till it's hot and ready to eat. And then you have the audacity to claim that you made the product? You did not knead the dough. You did not grate the cheese. You did not dice the toppings. And yet you believe that you can simply stand as an equal alongside us?

What that tells me is several things.

First, you view that pizza as a product. Not a meal, not an expression, but a product. And perhaps, in some cases, it is. You see it as not worth the effort of creating, and as such, you do not see other's creations as anything worth the work of creating.

Second, you see yourself as on equal measure of true chefs for doing a job that is not only less expressive, but also less intensive, less stressful, and less rewarding. For defrosting a pizza, you see yourself as worth the praise and respect and even the profit of a hobby or profession that real chefs might spend substantial portions of our lives working to perfect.

And third and final, you do not see any worth in learning to cook anything. You see us perusing our passions as wastes of time. You see our art style as a gimmick. You see us so proud in our progress from early projects, even if some of them may never see the light of day, and you think that there is nothing to be proud of there, only the simple fact that you get to consume our product and move on.

And it is in the last sense specifically that I think you really are undeserving of calling yourself equals to us. All but a few of us are accepting of your mistakes, offering tips or guides or even just other books to read and be inspired by. But you do not accept all of this, and instead you turn to 'AI' to create things for you. You do not pick up a pencil or use any of the countless recourses available to you, for free and with extensive guidance, you go to an algorithm to create it for you. And then you expect that you deserve the same merit for telling a machine what to create.

NOTICE: As more and more fanfic writers are using generative AI for their works (you uncreative dweebs), I hereby swear on everything I hold dear that I have not and will NEVER use generative AI in ANY of my written work. Everything I post will be organically and creatively my own.

Beggars

So there’s a very well founded sentiment amongst a lot of people in the ttrpg space, a sort of disdain for fifth edition dungeons & dragons. I get it, if you are the person who always running the games and but don’t want to be every time you bring it up with your other friends that there is something you want to try so it would be more fun for them and they keep looking you in the eyes and saying no. It feels terrible and on top of it you gotta play a game that's so bad that I will not run it unless payed to. Especially when you get off that train, it can feel electric to hear other people say what you are thinking and hear other disillusioned people.

But what's up with the people who are constantly begging internet randos to play other games? Deploying on the regular “I'm begging you please play another game”. 

I'm sure you have encountered this before, if not this exact turn of phrase you might also know them from their other tendencies. The sort of person who gets personally offended by some slop factory website made an article about how to make a cyberpunk edge runner guy in 5e, or that some no name actual play is running a horror game in 5e.

It is obvious and self-evident that this massive corporation enacting its a monopoly is just bad for the artform and hobby. But, why are they always begging? Day in day out; it seems to be their bread and butter, this constant begging. What’s begging going to do?

Please I'm begging you play other games is a cry in the face of monopoly to just please vote with your dollars. Like many calls to vote with your dollars it fundamentally comes from a lack of the ability or willingness to analyze the material conditions for our situation. 

If you cannot or will not understand that there is a tendency for capital to form monopolies and therefore hurt art, this begging is the only real outlet you have. And I can get it, the idea is comforting isn’t it, the idea that if we just act like this is not a flaw of the system but instead of flaw of individuals who we can preach to? Oh then we can fix that just by posting. If we just all vote correctly with our money like I am begging you to.

Another, albeit more minor, purpose this particular battle cry serves is as a safety blanket for the perpetually aggrieved small business owner. They obviously built the better mouse trap, so why aren’t they reaping the rewards? It cannot be that fame is a lottery, and that we don’t live in a glorious meritocracy. No it is a perversion of the natural order other better games exist and deserve to fill the same role 5e does but alas, the insolent consumer doesn't realize how much money they could be giving to me, the rightful heir of this monopoly. And honestly how dare people not provide me with free marketing more. It’s just not right I am begging you please play other games, like my game.

I think the material lens to analyze the situation is why the beggars tend to act in other strange ways. It's why they latch onto the failed theories (1) of a now over decade long defunct webforum to explain how playing 5e is bad because it’s normalized the idea of house rules. Or make strange claims about how it would be impossible to ever play a heist in 5e because it’s too complex to make plans, so you should learn another game.

They make the same comparison over and over about how games nowadays is like if you had to modify Skyrim to be super mario or something (2), ignoring the fact that the absurdity of that lies in the fact that it would require massive physics overhaul and a completely new set of high fidelity visual assets to be created. Sure it would be absurd to use 5e to model victorian romance novels because you have so much you throw out, but it’s actually entirely dissimilar to anything videogame development related. It is not that much more different to say imagine an airy open garden than it is to say imagine a dank wet dungeon.

The beggar is fundamentally disconnected from reality because it’s a much easier pill to swallow. So, the begging continues. If they just act enough like a missionary for their small business of choice, if they beg and plead to strangers in tones that imply they are better than them surely they will win over the hearts and minds of the people. If people were just smarter material conditions would not be like this.

So I guess that's what's up with the beggars.

I try to not have anything to do with drama, that's not my cup of tea. However, on behalf of a guy who I call a brother, this is something I feel the need to bring up and call attention to (here and on other platforms) due to harassment, victim blaming, attempted sexual advances on someone under the influence, and just nothing truly good at all.

On Tiktok there is a creator named Hitoshi-Laundry, or Hayden per his own Tiktok page. He currently is sitting at 24.4K followers. That sounds impressive however. Hayden and someone he knows were/are working on a web series and enlisted my friend, Eden's, help to know more about DID for the series. Eden asked who they were asking and were informed it was a friend of theirs. Lo and behold, he found out from said friend that they were claiming to be asking him. Eden decided to back out of the project and it started spiraling into what it has become. Hayden has also been keeping Eden's work up on his page and is, in fact, planning on making a profit without giving any of it. While yes that is not technically illegal, it is still a bullshit thing to do. Eden had made the characters art himself and is not going to get any of the profit that Hayden could potentially make. Hayden never even planned on telling Eden this, however for Eden's safety I am not going to talk about where he found it out for him and his source's privacy and safety. Eden ended up confronting Hayden a few days ago at the time of writing this about Hayden's partner claiming that Eden was bullying them over this situation. Here's something to note: anyone who knows Eden can testify that the LAST thing he or his system would EVER do is bully someone. I will not go into details why because he deserves that privacy and to not have that all over the internet unless he wishes for it. Unfortunately for Eden, Hayden did not take it well. At all.

Through screenshots that will be provided in a reblog (just because I am wanting this to be just the text of what happened, since I will be providing ID's for every picture), you can see that the conversation started off polietly with asking about what happened and for proof. The only proof that Hayden ever went off of was his partners (name will be covered for her privacy). It then started to derail from there. Eden pointed out that no alters had spoken to Hayden's partner. The next response from Hayden was to say he was about to have a nervous breakdown. The very very next thing in the screenshot is that Hayden immediately throws it back onto Eden with Eden's partner. I have been told some of how Eden and his partner (name also blurred for privacy) got together. The two didn't do it to spite anyone or out of anger, rather just because the two were happy together and loved one another. Hayden can be seen in the screenshot angry about it, for no real evidence. To quote. "Why do you have to be dating my FUCKING BEST FRIEND! HUH?!! WHY?! I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOUR PROOF." From the screenshots that have been provided, there is quite literally nothing else about why he has such a problem with Eden and his boyfriend. After Eden points out that nothing is going to change between him and his boyfriend, Hayden says he'll show this conversation to Eden's boyfriend to "see what he thinks about him". Mind you I don't see Eden and his boyfriends personal messages but honestly, nothing seems to have changed between the two. That's not all Hayden has done despite how much I wish it was. This next part will have no names other than Hayden's said for privacy because this is something someone deserves complete and utter privacy about. Hayden and a mutual acquaintance had consumed Marijuana and had gotten stoned off of it. That's not the problem here in the slightest. The problem comes from what Hayden tried to do. He had attempted to have sex with the victim, however I have not been told if he kept pushing for it as that is not something I am going to ever ask of a victim. That is their privacy and is not something anyone should ever have to relive. With the same victim from above, they ended up having to go to the hospital for a severe medical emergency which was partly brought on by Hayden. Hayden was able to cause a partial medical emergency that left people concerned for the victims safety. This is all that I know of, let alone anything that could have happened that hasn't been made aware.

Normally I don't concern myself with drama but this isn't just some petty argument. It's how someone and their partner have managed to harass someone, have lied multiple times, have attempted to make sexual advances on someone who was under the influence, planned on making a profit off of someone else's art without giving any profit to said person, and just generally has not been good in the slightest.

1. it's just wild to me how LO fans (and even LO itself) claim to be about feminism and empowerment and calling out misogyny when it also loves to be misogynistic towards Minthe, Thetis, Leto, Aphrodite, etc like?? Even if you don't like the woman personally, calling her a bitch/slut/whore and saying she should be abused/assaulted/killed/tortured in very female-specific ways is also misogynistic?? Like do they think it only counts as if it's towards Persephone and Hera and them alone??

2. That anon mentioned wanting Hera to actually like someone in the story and I am once again pissed at what Rachel did the Thetis because Hera and Thetis have a genuinely good relationship in the myths when it’s brought up. (Also Thetis literally raised Hephaestus but I know that won’t be mentioned here because that would paint her in a good light and Rachel hates mothers). I just… I’ll never understand why Rachel chose the one character from Greek myth who is notable for not sleeping with Zeus and choosing to make her Zeus’ mistress as though Zeus doesn’t have like a hundred other lovers she could’ve chosen. I pray she doesn’t touch of the myth of Achilles conception because I know it gonna be done badly with terrible implications and the last thing we need is the message that Thetis “deserved” to be forced into a marriage (and all that comes with it) because she’s a bitch

I think the reason Eris is sometimes considered Zeus and Hera’s kid is because she seems to get conflated with Enyo a lot (even in like Ancient Greek texts she’s sometimes conflated with her so it isn’t necessarily a new thing) who was a daughter of Zeus and Hera (and sometime Ares’ wife). Still, Eris being Nyx’s daughter seems to be the much more agreed upon version and would’ve just been better overall. Also like I get how Sleeping Beauty kind of has a connection to the Apple of Discord myth but just making Eris basically Maleficent was really dumb

4. I love LO fans because they'd rather die than take an L on anything. They wiil twist bad character design and art as "well it's supposed to be ugly! That's her style!" and say it was always supposed to be badly written and even nonsensical and that's the appeal. I'd find it commendable if it wasn't so removed from reality. Like is it a win if it's "supposed" to be bad??

I legit just saw a LO stan claim HADES (the video game) stole from LO because their Ares also has a streak of color across his face and red eyes like LO Ares does .... that game was in development for well over a year before LO was even on Canvas. Do they think Encanto stole from LO too because Isabela can create flowers or The Simpsons stole LO Hera's coloring?

6. Ok so I'm a huge Wonder woman fan, and after reading her latest origin comic that goes into the creation of her Homeland, they show the goddesses being tired of men and my goodness! The designs for the goddesses are all so diverse and beautiful and different! Like a baffoon I looked over lore Olympus designs and I felt so robbed! Their designs are so boring and it sucks that Eris is the latest fashion criminal. If I could re-design her, I'd still have her wear black (even though she's Zeus and Hera child in this?) But I would singe her dress a bit. Maybe random blood spatter... something that **looks** chaotic. 

7. ok this has been bugging me. so its basically confirmed in LO pomegranates kill your fertility, right? but we also see in the underworld pom soda is like, a thing they just drink, so is hades just casually drinking soda that kills his little hades swimmers? wouldnt just off that shouldnt persephone also have no fertility powers either bc she also drank it? someone make it makes sense (I know it's more her making stuff up as she goes again but omg the world-building in this make no sense)

I think my fav part about that old ask of rachel's asking about persephone's "hobbies" is not only are they super generic and not even seen in comic, but also none of them relate to her being a death or spring goddess? like really, she doesn't like gardening at the very least? what if she was really into horror or murder mystery media? why does it seem rachel is willing to make everyone else more fleshed out, but the lead character has to be as flat as possible? easier to self insert on perhaps?

9. There are literally millions of colors to pick from on a color wheel and Rachel is like better idea, I only use like 7 for all my settings and especially my ever expanding cast of characters. No I will not make any of them look different, you just have to guess which doe-eyed woman with an hourglass figure it is, who care if they're all the same shade of yellow and pink, not my problem! Like girl really, how lazy are you?

I am loving all these "Bitter Albedo getting revenge and doing as he wants with the reader"— but also, equally as bitter Creator! Reader growing resentful towards Albedo and wanting to do to him what he's done to her, or even _worse_. Anything to take him out of her life, so she half bakes a plan to "finetune" later, first starting off by building up some trust to get on Albedo's good side, she "gives in", plays nice and gets to work on alchemy with him.

She follows this routine, playing the loving glorified "housepet". But all the while, she's been fine-tuning her escape plan. It would either put him in an equal disadvantage to him, or it might kill her. At this point, either outcome would be mercy. She tells him there's still things from the Art of Khemia she hadn't taught him.

Things she'd learned in her travels while experimenting, not long after they'd gone their separate ways.

It starts out with gathering ingredients for tamer recipes, and just like she'd promised

New techniques, new creations and new knowledge was gained.

She makes him believe that she's adapting to his existence, maybe even tolerating him, but he didn't expect for her to only grow more and more bitter as time went on. The only thing growing in her heart was the resentment she harbored for him, any sort of admiration or genuine adoration she held for her creation all but crushed. She wanted nothing of him ever again, he had gone too far, miscalculated even, in his theory that reluctant "love" would follow his treatment.

Over the course of a few weeks, she has him carefully wrapped around his finger, unknown to him that she would show him just how much mercy she showed him when she sent him his own separate way. He was suspicious at first, of course, but in his moment of weakness, in his need for the approval she had been "showering" him in, he pushes the thoughts aside when he sees that her claims seem to be "valid enough".

He follows her instructions, and each time he gains new information on old, or even lost, techniques. Raging from little things she'd kept to herself so that he wouldn't have to interact with him when they worked together, To combinations only a mad woman who's challenged nature would dare think up.

and one day, she's telling him that she thinks he's ready to try the last thing she had managed to research on her own. He mixes the ingredients according to her instructions, everything seems to be going fine until he adds the last thing— and it's immediately reacted in a messy blast.

Albedo finds himself blinded by the fallout, as well as finding a surprising lack of digits on where his hands should be. His ears are ringing, obviously, such a blast would deafen anyone.

It's the creator's way of getting her own vengeance for the position he's put her in, at least this way, maybe, _maybe_, she can have a chance to finally put her failed created behind her. After all, he was always her most _disappointing_ creation.

AHHHHHH anon that took me aback at the last bit I was not expecting that. Poor little thing, how could master be so cruel...?

After the obvious resulting chaos (and agony), he'd be quiet for a long time. He ties you to the bed with what's left of his hands, having to use his mouth to tie the knot, and... leaves. Usually he's good about leaving you food when he goes out for the day, but not this time. He doesn't say a word as he leaves, even if you call out to him.

And he's gone for several days. You're starving, but even when he comes back, he doesn't say a word at first. Doesn't acknowledge your presence, no matter how many times you call out to him. It goes on like that for hours until eventually, without prompting, after you've given up calling for him, he just simply states a few thoughts.

He was... too kind. He understands that now. You didn't deserve it. You didn't appreciate it properly. So now, you will earn your way back to the way things were.

For starters, he takes the legs off at the scar. No real reason other than to hurt you. To see your horror when you fully wake up, pain, having to adjust. He pulls the same shit where he makes you beg for anesthetic and painkiller, but it's infinitely more painful this time. He keeps you just a little bit awake for the whole thing, even if you beg enough to be given some anesthetic during the procedure.

And after that, he stops talking to you. For good.

He himself is learning to adjust, having been given a prosthetics for fingers (literally Fullmetal Alchemist lmao) that he can make do with. You can learn how to adjust, too. Having *no* legs is actually different than just having numb ones, and learning to live without them is harder than you thought it would be -- your center of gravity and sense of balance changes, you have to avoid certain positions or risk a sharp shooting pain, etc. But even when you stumble and fall, and call out for help... nothing happens. You have to fix it on your own, or, if stuck too far to move, wait until he comes by up to hours later and silently sets you upright. If you call out in what sounds like high distress, he might come running over to make sure you're not in immediate danger, but after looking you up and down and ascertaining you're just uncomfortable and/or stuck, he slowly turns back, deciding he'll help you when he feels like it later.

You don't eat together anymore. He feeds you in a bowl on the ground. The first time, you turn your nose up and fold your arms in disgust... even though you haven't eaten the entire time he was gone. You're just that stubborn. No matter. Eventually, you cave, maybe the second day, maybe the third or fourth. He doesn't say anything the whole time, just takes the food when you make it clear you won't eat it, and puts it out each night, until you give in.

You sleep on the floor. Chained by the neck to the bedpost. You understand the message without needing to be asked out loud. You hated him so much, didn't you? You'd much rather be on the cold, hard floor than in bed, since he's in it, wouldn't you? Since you hate him so much?

And still, he doesn't talk. Somehow, that hurts the most. He was never very talkative, but he'd comment every now and then, ask you for your thoughts on something, but he now acts like you're not even there. No matter how many times you call out to him, he acts like he doesn't hear it.

It goes on like that for a month or so until you finally break down. Latch onto his leg and sob and plead. You feel like you're going insane, you say. You just want him to acknowledge you exist again.

...But why should he, he asks? It's the first thing he's said to you since the leg removal. He won't turn his head or eyes to look at you. What does he get from talking to you? You were so mean. For the few months leading up to the incident, you were so, so, so mean. He tried to be nice and get you adjusted, and you fought him every step (well... not that you were taking many literal steps) of the way. Remember? You were mean from the moment you woke up then. And then, when you were finally nice -- when he trusted you -- you went and did what you did. What reason does he have to acknowledge you? You'll either be mean to him or plot against him again. And that's all he's willing to say.

A few more weeks. A few more breakdowns. You know the intention -- he wants to truly, completely break you in a way that he never could when he was showing you any kindness. And, you hate it, but it's working. You find yourself begging. Sobbing. Rocking back and forth and clinging to his legs. Utterly pathetic, pitiful, humiliating displays of neediness and weakness. It breaks you down until he finally deems you complete, and one day finally makes eye contact with you for the first time in months.

There's not much left of "you" per se, though. The nasty attitude you had back before is almost completely gone. You're finally happy when he talks to you -- something that, after so many months of going insane from silence, you consider a privilege. After so many breakdowns and humiliation, you don't have much pride left to get in the way of begging, no shame about anything you do. It's perfect.

Not that it doesn't come back, sometimes. Sometimes, when you're having good days, you get a bit too comfortable, you forget what a privilege it is to be like this together, and you almost get mean again. But it's fairly easy to shut down with a very specific look that shuts you up immediately.

Oh, and he finds a way to fix himself, in the end. Being an artificial creation, he has a different compositional makeup than a person, so there are... ways to adjust and repair the body he has. In fact, he might even find one that would work on even an organic human, a miracle regenerative formula.

Not that he'd give it to you. But he makes sure to tell you all about it, showing off just how perfectly it regenerated his hands... just to see the look on your face.
