dude. aussies in the 5sos fandom on tumblr? i can count us on my hand, you're one too? a melbourne afl fan as well?
haha, yeah i have noticed there are surprisingly few of us around here 🥺
not so much an afl fan tho, as much as a person who was born in a part of the country that likes afl,, so seeing luke picking the correct sport gave me weird state pride that i don't generally have ^^;
#not from melbourne either but like that's the closest proper city to me#i went to uni further north tho and learnt abt the weird afl/rugby divide like that was wild#like isn't it really uncommon in nsw for people to care abt afl or?#is it different in sydney tho idk i don't go there 😬#and none of my sydney friends are into sports as far as i know so sdfjhsd#i def used to watch footy with the family when i was a kid like we had a family tipping thing but like#idk we're all a bit over it and literally only watch when there's a good act on the grand final#in short i am a fan of melbourne as a city over sydney as a city but as far as football goes#like i was a bombers fan when there was that whole scandal in like 2007? 2008?#where they were taking legal supliments but there was a doping scandal or smth idk i was a child#but i truly don't know anything abt the sport other than that one of my primary school crushes is a professional player now?#like he played for one of the weird new teams that got added after i stopped paying attention#answered#ask#i think what really got me was actually just seeing luke do something so Australian like :')#that's right he IS from here#me most of the time: i truly don't have any sense of national pride literally couldn't care less thanks for the healthcare i guess#me when an artist i like is australian: THAT'S MY FUCKING SON HE GREW UP HERE AND I RAISED HIM

full offence but wanting domestic matches to be played in a different country is fucking insane and you need professional help if you genuinely want that
#“american round” “play the final in saudi” “rotation of hosts” i hope you all choke#It genuinely makes me so angry i cant even be eloquent about it#At no point have i ever watched any domestic sport and thought “do you know what would make this better? taking it on the road!”#fucking delusional!!!#and its not even “well you live where they play so ofc you dont want to share”#bc if afl suddenly decided to start hosting rounds in england id be mad about that too!#fuck i even think its fucking ludicrous that mlb and nfl host rounds abroad#not everything has to be a travelling circus act jesus fucking christ is nothing sacred anymore#its bad enough that certain european comps dont even stop at european countries and teams have to travel insane hours for it#anyway im done now#im very much in a mood LOL

imagine moving to australia and accidentally catching the attention of a yandere! australian.
you're tired, absolutely done with the weather and the weird lingo the aussies use. what is a woolies? what is with their obsession with football? and all of a sudden there's now this... random australian man obsessing over you??
the fact that you live away from the city is also a problem. hours away from everyone, little to no people you can contact in case of an emergency... well, that's more of a you problem than his problem. this works out perfectly for him.
"howzagauhn? yeah, nah yeah-"
"what."
you can't decipher his accent or the way he talks so you can only stare like 🙂 as your new neighbor introduces himself to you. yeah... you probably should've moved to the city instead of some suburb.
anyway he fell for you at first sight, heart eyes and all. you were the love of his life, the one he'd buy a house with despite being in the middle of a housing crisis and the stupidly hellish taxes. he would love it if you two went shopping together and maxed out his credit card, isn't that romantic?
eventually, the two of you start going out and you realize he isn't what he seems.
well, you knew he was always a bit weird. the way he'd shake life a leaf whenever you touched him was one reason why you suspected him to be a bit out of it. like damn, is he really that obsessed with you?
then you walked into his closet and oh my god. you just knew you had to leave. was that a shrine? wait, what your lost undies???
unfortunately for you, there was no way you were escaping. not when you had taken over his mind, not when he was already set on having you all for himself.
"right, where do you think you're going? tryna leave me are ya?"
"u-uh..."
(inspo by @moyazaika) you couldn't even step two feet out of his house before his pet spider scared you back into his arms. shit, you forgot he friended that weird spider thing.
be ready to get tortured for your disobedience 🥱💔 common torture methods include eating vegemite toast and watching him scream at the tv after his afl team lost a match. occasionally, he turns the heater off at night causing you to freeze in the poorly insulated home.
he tells you it's all for your own good. that he's doing this just to make sure you stay with him. but really, you think he's doing it because he's probably high on something. not wrong but he also really wants you to stay with him.
"now, you know not to run away, yeah?"
"...yeah."
yeah, you shouldn't have moved to australia.

Please would you be able to write an awfc x teen!reader fic based on the photos of the girls playing Aussie rules today in training? Maybe a bit of annoying younger sister energy (kind of like kyra)! I love you stuff thank you for all of it :)
not completelyy happy with this but it was something different to try! drop kick II awfc x teen!r
"oh you're not bringing that are you?" steph sighed as you stretched over to grab the bright red ball from her back seat. "yeah! why not?" you grinned as the two of you stepped out of her car.
"well because we don't play afl we play football." steph shook her head, though she knew better than to even try and argue the case knowing all too well how stubborn you were.
"then it'll be a fun learning experience for the girls! wheres your australian spirit steffy?" you gave her a toothy grin, the older girl clearing her throat as you spun around. "forgetting something?" steph raised her eyebrow and subtly nodded to your bag.
"oh! yeah that might help." you grinned, jogging back and grabbing it, kissing stephs cheek in thanks who pushed you off with an amused roll of her eyes.
"all this time off and she's forgotten what sport we play!" caitlin teased watching you stuff the ball with some difficulty into your gym bag but eventually succeeding, ruffling your hair as you smacked her hand away.
"sorry hard launch i couldn't hear you over the massive closet of your latest relationship?" you cupped a hand over your ear as steph snickered and you grinned, though catching the look which flashed across caitlins face you wasted no time sprinting off.
"ya could have four legs and i'd still outpace you foordy!" you yelled over your shoulder as she gave up chasing you, pausing to fall back into step with steph and flipping you the finger.
"i'll get you later skippy just you wait! i know where you live!" caitlin yelled menacingly after you, and of course she would considering you bounced between her place and stephs, not allowed to get your own as much as you'd begged and pleaded.
you were so busy gloating you didn't watch where you were going and wheezed as your body slammed into someone elses. "speed racers back in town then! who we runnin from now?" jen grinned, hauling you up and over her shoulder.
"i've missed these delightful walks of ours jb." you patted her back affectionately feeling her body vibrate with laughter as you flipped caitlin the bird before jen turned a corner, earning yourself a disappointed look from steph.
"lee!" you called out happily as the two of you entered the change rooms and you spotted her sitting at her cubby dressed for training, the blonde looking up from her phone as jen put you down. "you're back training properly??" the taller girl stumbled a little at the speed in which you crashed into her for a hug.
"much as i can be. missed you skippy!" the blonde ruffled your hair, kissing your cheek and shoving you over toward lia who seemingly appeared out of nowhere, wrapping you in another tight hug.
"hi wally! happy new year." you mumbled into her shoulder making her laugh. "happy new year winzig, did you have a nice break?" the swiss woman walked you toward your cubby which was between kyra and vics.
"yes! god i miss australia so much already. the beaches, the tan, the food, my family. its cruel that i come from warm sunny beautiful summer to this, english winter fucking sucks!" you huffed unhappily, wincing as a hand collected the back of your head.
"language little miss. thats a fiver!" beth wagged her finger at you with a stern look as you rolled your eyes and hugged her girlfriend instead causing her to scoff. "what? you know i am her favourite." viv shrugged as beth made a noise of disbelief and you sent her a smug smile.
you hadn't even separated from the pair for more than five seconds before a body hurtled into you sending you flying, kyras body latched onto you as stina hurried to grab you, stopping you from hitting the floor.
"get off me you rat!" you wrenched off the girls hands and sent stina a grateful look who gave the pair of you an amused smile, turning back to her conversation with amanda.
"rat! you're the little rat, did you forget about the pictures of-" kyra started as your eyes widened and you hastily covered her mouth. "you swore on calvins life you would take that to the grave." you growled quietly, pulling your hand away in disgust as kyra licked it, wiping it on her jersey.
"but i'm the child? grow up cooney-cross." you scoffed, letting out a yell as again kyra leapt onto you, this time successfully taking you down to the ground as the two of you rolled around wrestling until you were seperated by leah and steph.
most of the girls having filed out toward the pitch and steph impatiently tapping her foot in waiting you hurried to get your boots on, grabbing the afl ball out afterward.
"you can't bring it to training." "why not?" "well-" "see, you can't even think of a good reason stephanie."
and with that you tucked it under your arm and strode out of the change rooms as steph groaned. "can you see any greys jenny? she's been back for three days and its already falling out from the stress!" steph huffed gesturing to her hair as the tall scottish woman chuckled and slung an arm over her should.
"what is that!" vic pulled a face as you appeared with the foreign looking ball. "aussie rules ball!" you beamed, kicking it at kyra who dove to catch it, earning yourself the attention of a few more of the girls who looked on curiously.
"right i'm game. give us a go then skippy!" leah clapped as you tossed her the ball and explained how to hold and position it to be drop kicked. "yeah yeah its a ball, i'm an athlete. i got it!" she brushed you off as you held your hands up and took a few steps back.
you slumped into lotte who appeared by your side, pulling you into a hug and kissing the top of your head. "go on lee while some of us are still young, kimmy might have to retire by the time you kick this thing." you grinned cheekily, hiding behind lotte at the look sent your way by your captain across the pitch.
"oh brilliant! she's a natural." you threw your head back with a laugh as leah completely missed, nearly kneeing herself in the face as the ball bounced away. "shut up!" the blonde warned you with a glare, hurrying to grab the ball again.
"show me again." leah demanded firmly as lotte let you go and you grabbed the ball. "oi ireland!" you yelled, katie looking up from her conversation with gio and grinning as you held up the ball and she readied herself to catch.
"like this." you huffed as you kicked the ball with all your might, the red leather sailing up into the air and right into katies awaiting arms. "you know i might need to recruit you to take some of my goal kicks. how much do you really like being a striker?" manu messed up your hair with a gloved hand as you pushed her away with a smile.
"how the fu-" leah shook her head as katie booted the ball toward caitlin perfectly. "its cause she's got a bit of aussie in her, literally." you smirked quietly, leah turning to you with wide shocked eyes at the comment.
"i'm telling steph to wash that filthy little mouth out with soap tonight skippy."
you barely heard her as you were already taking off racing toward kyra who was trying to teach gio how to kick, your body hurtling into hers. "tackle!" you cheered as kyra groaned from beneath you and you plucked the ball from her hand and took off again.
"they don't tackle in afl you little shit thats nrl!"
"nope!" you were suddenly off the ground again as caitlins arms wrapped around your waist and took you down to the ground, tossing the ball to katie and getting off of you.
"piggy in the middle!" you cheered happily jumping to your feet and racing off toward an unsuspecting cloe who was merely holding the ball, the blondes eyes widening as she hurried to toss the ball toward sabs who frowned in confusion before your body hurtled into hers.
"hey steph." the defender looked up from where she was watching you as jen appeared by her side.
"yeah mate, i can see those greys now."

SAMMY'S GIRL | s.kerr
summary: headcanons on your relationship with sam.
pairing: fem!reader x sam kerr
notes: love these, let me know if you want more. send any asks/thoughts/questions about sammy's girl that you would like to, I would love to chat xx
knowing sam since you were kids (like 7-8)
you hated soccer (refused to call if football)
your family was mad about real football (afl, obviously)
and sam played footy with you at the same club
but when she first started playing soccer at age 12, she fell in love with it
consequentially, forcing you- her best friend
into loving it too
(no matter how much you refused)
bye bye afl
she would talk nonstop about players who she loved
Ronaldo this
ronaldo that
who the fuck is ronaldo
you didnt care
you were just glad sam was happy
you only really started to care, when you realised how talented sam was
even though you hated soccer
you showed interest for her
because wow, she was good
you would go to her games on saturday mornings
wore her club jumper to games
and would sit in the car on cold mornings with her parents
honking the horn if she scored
sometimes cheering out the window
you gradually learnt more and more about the game from sam
it became her entire life
and because sam was your entire life, it became yours too
at sleepovers you both would stay up and watch games
her nudging you awake when you were falling asleep
her shaking you awake if her favourite player scored or there was a dodgy penalty/free
you detested staying up late for soccer games, but if it made sam happy you would do it
as you got older and went to high school, sam was being taken more seriously
local news outlets were getting hold of how talented she was
scouts started coming out to her games
it was suddenly all about sam and her talent
(about time)
you watched her first game for the matildas in 2009 against Italy when she was subbed on
you cried when she stepped on the pitch, screaming as loud as you could
she heard you
that night, hugging her after the game, you realised that sam wasn't just your best friend
you continued to support her as you went through school
sam was playing more and more
it was getting harder to stay in contact
she was flying around the world with the matildas, playing game after game
training after training
match after match
but you didnt mind
because you knew that she would always come back to you
and she did
you spent the time that she had off together
spending december holidays together
christmas at your place, new years at hers
every moment that sam was home she spent with you
thats when she realised that you were more than her best friend
on the night of sam's first goal, she tied the game against north korea
you cried again
you couldn't help it
you were just so proud of her
she backflipped on the pitch, something she had been practicing since you were little
(something she had been trying to teach you do to since you were little)
afterwards, she ran over to near where you were sat in the stands with her family and celebrated with you
you knew you loved her in that moment
that night, in her room
you kissed
you were sharing the hotel bed, both crammed into a king single
like you had done all throughout your childhood
and you told her how proud of her you were
leaning into the silence, sam kissed you
after you both just stared at each other
"I'm sorry" she said
"don't be" you whispered back
and you never spoke about it the next morning
sam went off to play world cups
you stayed home and watched every game you could
messaging her phone throughout
she gained more traction, she was only getting better and better
and she knew that you were always behind her
you were her rock
you kissed again after sam's first world cup
it was on your 17th birthday
it was just the two of you, everyone else had left for the night
"when do you leave again?" you asked her
"I fly to Brisbane next week" she told you
you didnt say anything after that for a while
just sat in silence
you laid facing each other once again, just like you had the year before
and it was unspoken what you both wanted to happen
you moved your head closer to hers
she did the same
"I dont want you to go" you whispered
"I know, but I have to"
"I know"
more silence
"I'll miss you" she said
"I'll miss you more"
in that moment you made up your mind
and you kissed her
"I really like you sam" you told her
"I really like you too"
from then on, you both were unofficially together
there were no labels for your relationship
but everyone already knew that you both were a package deal
sam and y/n
y/n and sam
so no one suspected a thing
it went on like this for years
you went into your 20s together
watched sam become more and more successful
she made strides in her career and was signed to perth glory and then to sky blue
she won awards on awards
scoring more goals than majority of other players
she was a star
sam was traded to chicago
that hit you guys hard
but you weren't together.. so?
what could you do?
you spent every moment you could talking to sam when she was awake
vice versa
sams world involved two things: football and you
no matter the awards or the accolades, you were the biggest prize in her eyes
she thanks you profusely in her young australian of the year speech
she is so grateful every day to have you
as you were trying to stumble your way through uni
sam would try her best to fly you out to games so she could see you
call her selfish
she doesn't care
she just wanted to see you
in 2019 she was signed to chelsea
and whilst you were over there watching a match
the country went into lockdown
you were stuck in London
going home wasn't an option at that point in time
so you stayed with sam
and even after lockdown was lifted
you stayed with sam
you both realised the going back and forth was stupid
you loved each other
she told you so
you were watching an old football match
sam engrossed in the game, trying to watch for technique
when you completely broke her out of her trance by screaming at the ref for a shit free kick
she watched as you shouted at the tv
and then she said without thinking
"I love you"
with the biggest, goofiest grin on her face
you just stared at her, eyes wide
she had told you that she had loved you before
but you both knew that this was different
and so you said "I love you too sam"
that night you finally discussed labels
and sam officially asked you to be her girlfriend
you quite liked having the title after however many years of waiting
but she was worth the wait
so you moved all your stuff over to London when you could and started your life in London with sam
travelling back to Australia when you needed to
or when you missed home a little too much
and you watch every game that you possibly can
and now.. you even call it football

Always The One | Sam Kerr x Reader
word count: 2.6k
summary: you have a huge fight but she’ll always be the one for you.
Warnings: angst, sorta some fluff?
I’m not sure if it was because I was tired from my shift, or the fact I’d waited at the restaurant for over an hour and my girlfriend hadn’t bothered to show, that had my crying in Jessie’s apartment at 9:03pm on a Thursday night.
Jessie Fleming was possibly the sweetest person to ever walk the earth, and my closest friend.
“Still nothing from her?” she asks softly from the kitchen.
I let out a slow hum, indicating Sam had seemingly not noticed her girlfriend of 3 years was missing from their shared apartment on such an important date. Then I quickly check my phone again to make sure I haven’t unknowingly shut it off or somehow just missed a text or call from the woman.
“Well, you still have a spare uniform you left here a couple months ago if you need it for your shift tomorrow. But now, we eat ice cream and watch Fantastic Mr Fox until you fall asleep.” She plops down on the couch next to me with a pitying smile gracing her face.
“Wait. Before we do that.” I grab my purse from beside my feet and pull out two small items.
“Are you kidding me?! You’re fucking joking, you’re pulling my leg. Are you serious!” She rushes out questions before snatching the items to get a closer look.
“These are really real!?”
I chuckle at her, trying to stop the tears that are forming behind my eyes.
Sam and I had begun the IVF process a few months ago after some encouragement from Katrina, Sam’s national teammate, and I’d missed my period a few days ago so I took a test. I thought it would be a nice surprise for our anniversary. That, and the small black band with a simple diamond that sat snug in a red velvet box in my bag for three months now. But obviously she didn’t show, and I wasn’t sure what to do now.
“Yeah… they’re real. I wanted to propose and show her the test tonight. But, well, you know.” I start crying again before I can stop myself, and I’ve fallen asleep not long after Jessie starts playing with my hair.
~~~~~~~~~
Work the next day did not help take my mind off the events of last night. Being a paramedic was obviously a difficult job, but I hadn’t had this amount of bad luck on a shift in a long time, and the calls just seemed to keep getting worse.
Our first call was an elderly lady whose grandson had accidentally pushed her down her front steps, she’d hit her head pretty hard, and her knee was dislocated but it wasn’t anything we couldn’t fix and get her help for at the hospital.
Later in the day we’d gotten called to a collision on the A3 motorway, 2 women and their daughter in one car and a drunk man in a large truck. One of the mums had passed away before we’d gotten there, the other fractured her clavicle and some ribs and had a broken leg. The daughter had been knocked unconscious, a broken nose and arm and a fractured C5 and C6. The man got out with barely a scratch.
That’s when I had to take a break and try to call Sam. Holding the hand of the woman and her daughter became harder when I pictured Sam and our daughter in their place.
She didn’t answer. That call or the 3 others I made before I clocked off at 6pm, uniform stained with blood.
I’d zoned out the whole drive home. I wasn’t even sure I was heading home until I’d pulled into the driveway.
I also didn’t notice the now filled space where Sam’s car sat, or the dirty Airforce 1s by the front door that were missing when I’d left yesterday morning (I’d gone straight from my shift to the restaurant), and I didn’t notice the figure slouched on the couch watching the AFL game she’d clearly missed during training today, a beer already in hand.
I went straight to the shower to wash off the blood and cry. Then I got changed into an oversized jumper and shorts, avoiding any of Sam’s jumpers I’d usually curl up in after a hard day, sat on our bed and cried some more.
I don’t get to cry for too long before the bedroom door slams open and Sam beings to yell.
“When the fuck were you going to tell me!?” I just groan in response and cover my ears with a spare pillow, but she grabs it and stands in front of me, forcing me to look at her and the pregnancy test she held tight in her hands. I’d fucking forgot to throw the other ones out.
“When were you planning on fucking telling me this round had worked hmm? That we’re going to have a baby!?” I look my girlfriend in the eyes for the first time in 2 days.
“Last night. At the restaurant. You know… for our anniversary?” and I know it’s sick, but I found joy in the way her face dropped and realisation appears behind her eyes.
“Fuck Y/N! I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry I forgot. How did I forget??”
“I don’t know how you forgot Sam. I sent you a text after you left for training. And another during my lunch break at work. And right as I was heading to the restaurant. And I called, got Jessie to remind you too, which I know she did. How the fuck did you forget Sam?” I get up from the bed and approach her.
“I don’t know, I got carried away hanging with Mills and Guro, but for fuck’s sake drop the attitude.”
Dro- drop the attitude!? She cannot be serious.
“What was that?”
“Drop the attitude Y/N. I’m sorry I forgot but the condescending tone is unnecessary, you’ve forgotten shit too.”
“Yeah! I have! Like if it’s my turn to cook dinner or if you have a physio appointment. Not a fucking anniversary Sam!”
“And this isn’t just about the anniversary anymore. I called you four times during work today and you didn’t pick up. You didn’t think calling four times during work meant I might really need to speak to you? Because when I held the hands of a little girl who had to say goodbye to one of her mum’s and the other mum who had to say goodbye to her wife all I could think of was you and you didn’t answer once. And then I see you for the first time in nearly 48 hours and the first thing you wanted to do was yell at me instead of calmly asking? It’s too much.”
I start running my hands through my hair and pacing around the room. This can’t be happening. What the fuck is happening here? Before I can think about much more, I grab my work bag and start packing a uniform and some clothes.
“Wh- what are you doing? Oh come on you’re not leaving over a silly argument.” We’d made our way to the front door by now.
“No! I’m not! I’m leaving because you can’t seem to see why I’m so fucking upset over any of this Sam. And the fact you got so ‘carried away hanging with Millie and Guro’ to forget your 3-year anniversary and just ignore all my calls. I was really excited to share the test with you, have a family, I’m not really sure what to do about that now. Oh, and here, was going to give this to you too.” I slam the small velvet box down on the counter by the door before grabbing my work boots and rushing to my car.
I hear the door slam behind me, but no footsteps follow, so I hop in and drive to Jessie’s apartment once again.
~~~~~
I’m laying between Jessie and Erin, the latter of whom Jessie had begged to come over to try and make me smile after I’d been crying non-stop, when there’s a banging on the door.
“Jessss! I know Y/n’s there please let me talk to her.” The familiar Australian accent makes me tear up again.
Erin gets up instead of Jessie and tells us she’ll handle Sam, send her away somehow.
3rd pov
Erin opens the door to a very dishevelled Sam Kerr, who’s eyes are red, hair a mess, having finally been let out of the low ponytail so she could run hands through it in a panic.
“Ez. What are you doing here? Where’s Jessie, and Y/n?”
“Sorry Sam, Y/n isn’t here. Jess ‘n’ I decided to have a sleepover so she can take me to training tomorrow because my car’s in the shop.”
“Erin come on I’m serious, she wouldn’t go anywhere else except here.”
“I’m sorry mate I haven’t heard from or seen her since our game against Man City when she had the day off.” Sam let’s out an angered sigh but accepts the idea that maybe her girlfriend had run off to one of the other girls, seeing as most of her friends were Sam’s teammates, either from Chelsea or The Matildas.
“Yeah ok, um, let me know if you hear anything yeah? I really need to talk to her.” Sam’s hand shakes as she pats Erin’s shoulder before turning away, getting back into her car to try Kyra’s or Ann-Katrin and Jess’, both friendships that seemed so unlikely to Sam, yet were some of her girlfriend’s closest friends.
1st pov
I let out a breath of relief when Erin returns to us without a certain striker trailing behind her.
“Maybe you should talk to her. She might fucking crash in the state she’s in.” the thought makes me feel bad for a moment, but she shouldn’t be allowed off that easily.
“No, she’s stupid but not that stupid. And she deserves to worry for a moment.” It was probably really mean, but I refuse to believe she doesn’t deserve a taste of her own medicine.
~~~~~
It takes me 2 more days of her calling before I start to really miss Sam, and decide to head back to our apartment just to see if she’s there, because Jessie told me how she hadn’t shown up to training on Yesterday and she wasn’t on the pitch as I watch Chelsea verse West Ham on Jessie’s tv.
As I walk through the door, the only thing I hear are the tiny meows of our cat Helen, who runs up to me to rub against my legs. I missed her.
But then I start to look around and realise what a mess the place is. Beer bottles are spread across every room and there are takeout containers that clearly hadn’t been put away since they arrived, sitting on the coffee table in the lounge room. I walk further down the hall but trip of some random pair of sneakers. No more than two steps after that, glass crunches under my boots and I frown when I see a photo of Sam with the FA Cup I had taken after their win last season. It was my favourite picture of her in her Chelsea kit.
“Sammy?! Where are you?” my voice echoes throughout the space as I creep towards the bedroom.
As I pry open the door, I’m met with a sight that both warms and squeezes my heart. Sam is covered in blankets, snoring softly. Her eyes are puffy and there are both fresh and old tear stains running down her cheeks. She looked strangely angelic, peaceful. Like the girl I’m in love with.
When I pull the blankets back, I see her hugging the teddy I got for her to take on international breaks when I couldn’t make it, doused in my perfume. I’d got it for her on our 6-month anniversary, and it didn’t take her long to buy me one for when she went away. The same one that is currently sitting on our windowsill, seeming very lonely.
She’s dressed in only a sports bra and some checkered boxers she’s been obsessed with sleeping in, but doesn’t seem to have changed in the past 2 days.
Her eyes blink open as I softly shake her away, but once she catches sight of me, she bolts up-right and scrambles to hug me.
“Hey Sammy.” I’m too tired to be angry at her anymore. I just miss her.
“I’m sorry, I’m so so so sorry I was so horrible to you. I don’t deserve to be forgiven but I’ll do anything to prove how sorry I am and how much I love you and this baby.” I then catch a glimpse of a ring, the ring, that is placed perfectly on her ring finger.
“Y- you’re wearing the ring?” and she doesn’t get a chance to reply before I’m kissing her.
“This doesn’t mean I forgive you! I’m still mad at how you treated me.” I pull back to tell her before she can reciprocate the kiss.
She doesn’t meet my eyes but nods. “I’m so sorry, I love you so much and I want to show you that and show you how sorry I am.”
“I expect you to get me every single thing I crave in the next nine months and give me cuddles whenever I ask.”
Before she can I agree I add. “And that’s only for not letting me give me whole speech about how much I love you before I propose. There’s a lot more ground to cover for the other shit.” But I smile and kiss her again.
“I would have said yes before you could talk any way. Oh! And I have a surprise for you too. I was going to give it to you on our anniversary too.”
Sam gets up and rushes to the drawers, pulling out a familiar box.
“No fucking way were you going to propose on the same day.” She simply pulls out the ring and holds it out to me.
“Will you be my wife? If you say no I might actually drop dead.” I cry before anything else. But then I catch her looking at me expectantly and I just nod before hugging her tight.
“I can’t wait to have a family with you.” I whisper in her ear.
“I bags being the fun mumma!”
“Nooo way!”
“Yuh huh! You’re going to be the safety conscious one. You literally make me renew my first aid with you every single year. I’m definitely the fun one.” I groan but hug her tight. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“SAM I’M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU ONCE THIS THING IS OUT OF ME HOW DID YOU CONVINCE ME TO DO THIS!?” I couldn’t tell you how long I’ve been in labour by now, but I’m sure Sam’s hand was about to break and everyone in the building could hear me swearing my head off.
“You’re almost there chickee, just a few more pushes I promse.”
“You said that last time and it was not just a few more pushes!”
Before either of us can say anything else I’m pushing again, and 6 minutes later, a baby’s cries fill the room, and Maeve Wren Kerr-Y/l/n joined her twin sister Charlie May Kerr/Y/l/n in their mothers arms.
When I look over at Sam, she’s smiling adoringly down at Charlie, and I see a tear run down her face.
“You’re so beautiful.” I reach to grab her hand while Maeve sleeps in my arms.
I don’t think I could love anyone, or anything more than I love Sam. In 8 months when we get married, I’ll look her in the eyes as we say ‘I do’ and I’ll know she was always going to be it for me. She’ll always be the one.

Katie McCabe x Daicos female reader
plot: Katie's girlfriend takes her to see the Australian AFL for the first time
warnings: swearing, injury
"You're tellin me you play this sport willingly?" your girlfriend asked "yeah, well I don't get paid as much as the boys but it's still something I love" you shrugged as your girlfriend watched football highlights in the passenger seat as you drove to the MCG.
You and Katie have only been dating for six months but she finally has a big break and the first thing she wanted to do was take you on a trip to meet your family.
"Yeah my whole family plays for Collingwood, my dad played, now me and my brothers do, only during the season though, whenever I can I'm with you" you explained as your girlfriend leaned over and gave you a quick kiss.
"Careful, we're already running late," you told Katie who laughed and put her attention back on her phone
"So we're watching your brothers tonight?" She asked "Nick and Josh correct" You smiled at Katie as she furrowed her brows at the phone "there is no protective wear" she pointed out "exactly, makes it more fun".
"That explains the bruises when I first met you" she laughed "what do you mean?" you asked
"I thought maybe you liked to have a lot of fun"
"Katie!" you gasped and she shrugged
When you arrived at the Stadium, your girlfriend looked in awe "Where are we sitting?" she asked "Members lounge" you replied "we're meeting my mum and dad and Josh and Nicks girlfriends" you said as you watched your girlfriends walk grow slower out of nerves.
"Don't worry" You turned around and gave her a quick kiss "They already love you, my dad even knows your chant, and sings it to me whenever her calls" She smiled "just if you have any questions, ask me not him" you pointed out "he gets really into it"
"Is that why you always asked Caitlin about the rules of soccer?, so you didn't bother me?" Katie asked and you smirked at her, grabbing her hand "One Aussie to another".
You squeezed her hand as you walked up the stairs to the Members Lounge only to hear cheers when you walked in from your family and others. "Y/N!" Annalise cheered when she saw you and then saw you and Katie's intertwined hands "And who is this?" she asked "This is my girlfriend Katie," you told her and her smile brightened "So nice to meet you, I knew Y/N had something going on back in London always seemed so happy," she said before looking back "c'mon game will start soon"
You walked Katie passed some of your teammates who smiled and waved to both of you since they had met through Facetime and also watched the girl play soccer.
"Dad!" you cheered out to your father who turned around from the window "There's my girl" he smiled and gave you a hug as Katie smiled at the sight of you smiling at the sight of your father, she knew you were close.
After the hug your father turned to Katie "and my girls, girl" he joked and pulled her into a hug which you silently laughed at her face as she was shocked at the affection.
"Nice to meet you" Katie smiled as she played with the Collingwood scarf you gave her "I've been dying to meet the girl my daughter wont shut up about"
"dad"
"It's a good thing Y/N, I'm happy you found someone" he laughed at your reaction before the sound of fans cheering sounded meaning the players have come out for first bounce "Better go but just so you know Katie, whoever Y/N trusts, I trust" she smiled and patted her on the shoulder.
"Thanks, she's a lovely girl and I do truly like her" she smiled "good" he said "Now if you meet Nick after the game, teach him how to be a bit more aggressive on the ground"
"Will do"
You dragged Katie to a couch in the corner next to Annalise as the first bounce started.
Throughout all four quarters you watched as your girlfriends eyes followed the ball and how she enjoyed the harsh tackled thrown each teams way, even if it was Josh or Nick taken down. "Will that hurt?" she asked once
"He's fine" you reassured her "If it was soccer he'd be rolling on the floor for five minutes" she laughed and Annalise laughed too.
You smiled as you watched Katie watch your favorite sport, even if it wasn't competed in London, you knew she would want to bring a football back with her on the plane.
When the final siren rang, your girlfriend shot up and cheered for the Collingwood win, even before your father. It warmed your heart and even made you more attracted to the girl, especially since she was holding your scarf, with your jersey number on the bottom.
You turned her around and brought her into a kiss before you both smiled and joined your family as you waited for your brothers to come out.
Your eyes kept on lingering on the girl when you were waiting.
"A picture will last longer" she joked as she turned to you "You look really good tonight," you told her as she blushed "Y/N/N-" "Let's go" you told her, she could see the hunger in your eyes "your brothers" Katie persisted "they're tired, you can meet them tomorrow" you tried to convince her, pulling your hand out of your pocket and tucking her hair behind her ear.
You could see her falter at the action "I want a good impression with your family, I plan on meeting them again and again"
"See, you're going to meet them more so what can hurt if we leave early" You said before leaning down to give the Irish girl a lingering kiss.
"please"
You smiled as Katie groaned and rolled her eyes "Fine". You smiled and gave her another kiss and you whispered in her ear.
"I think it's time that you screamed out my name tonight" you breathed out, leaving a tingle on her ear and a blush rose to her cheeks as you stepped away to give a shitty excuse as to why you two have to leave early.
When you walked back you smiled at her "You're not usually this forward" she pointed out "My home ground" you winked before walking ahead of your girlfriend.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
July 22, 2024
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
JUL 23, 2024
Vice President Kamala Harris has continued to rack up endorsements and delegates since President Biden’s surprise announcement yesterday that he would not accept the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination. As of tonight, Harris has the support of at least 2,471 delegates, more than the 1,976 she will need to secure the nomination.
Endorsements have also continued to mount, with the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Victory Fund, and the Latino Victory Fund all endorsing her.
Labor unions have also backed her: the AFL-CIO, which represents 12.5 million workers, endorsed Harris. So did the Service Employees International Union, with 2 million workers, as well as the United Steelworkers, which represents 850,000 metal workers and miners, and the Communications Workers of America. Other unions endorsing Harris include the American Federation of Teachers, the United Food and Commercial Workers, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
Money continues to roll in. Since Biden’s announcement, Harris and the Democrats have raised about $250 million in donations and pledges. More than 888,000 were from small-dollar donors. Volunteers are also joining the Harris campaign, which said that more than 28,000 people have signed up to work on the campaign in the day since Biden passed the torch. Today, Beyoncé gave Harris permission to use her song “Freedom” as a campaign song, and TikTok users have jumped on the Harris trend.
Harris is keeping some of the key infrastructure of Biden’s campaign. She has announced that Biden campaign manager Julie Chávez-Rodriguez and Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon will remain in their positions. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer announced today that she, too, will stay on as co-chair for Harris’s campaign as she was for Biden’s.
Harris spoke today at campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, smoothing the transition from Biden’s campaign to her own. “I know it’s been a rollercoaster and we’re all filled with so many mixed emotions about this,” Harris said. “We love Joe and Jill. We really do. They truly are like family.” Biden called in to the meeting from Delaware, where he is isolating as he recovers from Covid, to thank the staff. “I know it’s hard, because you’ve poured your heart and soul into me, to help us win this thing,” Biden told them, but added: “The name changed at the top of the ticket. The mission hasn’t changed at all.” Biden told Harris: “I’m watching you kid, I love you. You’re the best, kid.”
Harris went on to indicate that she will be taking the fight for the presidency aggressively to Trump, highlighting his criminal behavior. “Before I was elected as Vice President, before I was elected as United States Senator,” she said today, “I was the elected Attorney General, as I've mentioned, to California, and before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor. In those roles I took on perpetrators of all kinds. Predators who abused women. Fraudsters who ripped off consumers. Cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump's type.”
She was clear, though, that the fight is not just about Trump; it is about “two different versions of what we see as the future of our country…. Donald Trump wants to take our country backward. To a time before many of our fellow Americans had full freedoms and rights. But we believe in a brighter future that makes room for all Americans.” She promised to continue the work of building the middle class, protect abortion rights, enact commonsense gun safety legislation, and protect voting rights. She contrasted the Democrats’ vision of “a country of freedom, compassion, and rule of law” with the Republicans’: “a country of chaos, fear, and hate.”
Biden’s announcement and Harris’s rapid consolidation of support and money appear to have blindsided the Trump-Vance campaign. MAGA Republicans have responded with scattershot arguments that suggest they had not thought through a scenario in which Biden would step down, an omission so astonishing it perhaps suggests they could not imagine a presumptive nominee voluntarily giving up power.
Without a coherent strategy, MAGA Republicans today have been all over the map, suggesting among other things that Biden’s voluntarily stepping down from his presumptive nomination is a “coup” and that Harris is a “D[iversity] E[quity and] I[nclusion] hire.”
For a party that is offering voters a popular set of policies, the opposing party’s nominee shouldn’t matter all that much, but Trump policies and the Trump campaign’s Project 2025 are both so unpopular that operatives intended to run not on policy but by firing up their base against Biden himself. In The Atlantic yesterday, journalist Tim Alberta explained that the entire Trump campaign apparatus was focused on Biden and that putting extremist Ohio senator J.D. Vance on the ticket “was something of a luxury meant to run up margins with the base in a blowout rather than persuade swing voters in a nail-biter.”
Now the energy appears to have shifted. As Anne Applebaum wrote today in The Atlantic, operatives staged the Republican National Convention of just last week to project strength and power, and Trump’s rambling and incoherent performance there seemed “deranged, sinister, and frightening.” Now, Applebaum wrote, “it just looks deranged,” as Biden’s decision to step away from power contrasts powerfully with Trump’s desperate attempts to cling to power with the Big Lie while he calls up his threadbare descriptions of national carnage.
The change Applebaum identified dovetailed neatly with a new political action committee started by conservative lawyer George Conway to highlight Trump’s “mental unfitness for office.” Frustrated by the apparent unwillingness of the press to cover Trump’s mental health while it focused on President Biden’s, Conway formed the “Anti-Psychopath PAC” to highlight Trump’s mental state. “The failure to treat Trump’s behavior as pathological has led the media and the country, perversely, to treat it as normal,” Conway told The Independent, and said that Project 2025 should be seen as an extension of Trump’s malignant narcissism “because basically he wants to turn the government into a mechanism for retribution.”
A post on Trump’s social media feed tonight suggested that Trump recognizes that being the oldest candidate ever nominated for the presidency is a campaign issue. The post said that “Lyin’ Kamala Harris…has absolutely terrible pole [sic] numbers against a fine and brilliant young man named DONALD J. TRUMP! Be careful what you wish for, Democrats???”
Today, Trump’s vice presidential pick Vance gave his first campaign speech at his former high school in Middletown, Ohio. There, dressed in a blue suit with a red tie that echoed Trump’s signature look, Vance spoke of his history in the town and promised that he and Trump are “ready to save America.” But his lack of experience on the campaign trail showed in his delivery, and the Fox News Channel, which was covering the speech, cut away from it while he was speaking.
Media outlets gave more attention to the Ohio state senator who preceded Vance, George Lang, who began a chant of “fight, fight, fight” and told the audience: "I believe wholeheartedly Donald Trump and Butler County's JD Vance are the last chance to save our country politically. I'm afraid if we lose this one, it's going to take a civil war to save the country, and it will be saved." He later posted on social media that he regretted his “divisive remarks.”
Later in the day, Vance spoke in Radford, Virginia, where he said that “[h]istory will remember Joe Biden as not just a quitter, which he is, but as one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States of America.” He continued: “Kamala Harris is a million times worse and everybody knows it. She signed up for every single one of Joe Biden’s failures, and she lied about his mental capacity to serve as president.”
Josh Dawsey and Michael Scherer of the Washington Post reported today on a different kind of jockeying in the 2024 presidential race. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has recently been in talks with Trump about dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump in exchange for a position in a Trump administration. Kennedy, who opposes vaccines, is interested in a portfolio that covers health and medical issues.

The whole of Australia was watching, they even had the game on the screens at AFL matches around the country. The videos and reactions coming out are insane. There’s one where all but one screen on a flight was watching the game.
I saw the plane one. I like this one alot. Shows all the reactions to the pks.

I finally watched Ted Lasso, I held off so long because....well I don't like soccer. I am an AFL (Australian Football fan) through and through and can't get into to other sports but I was convinced by friends and random clips I saw.
I just fell completely in love with this show. It is not perfect and has it slumps ...but it so funny, smart, heartwarming, has fantastic charachters (one of the few shows where I liked almost everyone) and has a message and theme run through out the series woth the ability to make great callbacks. This show was at its best when it was an ensemble show. In the locker rooms, with the fans. With family.
But the two things I truly loved about it is
1. It nailed what it is like to be a fan. All the scenes of the crowds, the locals at the bar, the 3 boys. Heck, even the love and hate relationship the fans have with the coach and players. They nailed showing how a football team can be a family and a community. The show made me care if Richmond win or lose. That's why I love my football and my team. For the 4 quarters of my game we are all family, it's about the love of the game and the highs and lows. Ted Lasso did this fantastically
2. This show had one of the best character redemptions and growth arcs I have seen in a show in a long while. Watching Jamie Tartt grow throughout the seasons was amazing. He went from my least favourite character to my favourite. And all through this, he grew and worked on himself, in what felt like a really honest way. I could watch him for hours. Ted Lasso and Phil Dunster should be incredibly proud of what they created. He was portrayed so incredibly well.
I also aspire to be Roy Kent.
I also still do not understand the offside rule. I did learn what relegation meant in this sport. So learning at least.
#jamie tartt#ted lasso#roy kent#it's about family#about community#one if the better shoes I have seen in a while#kudos to Jason Sudeikis#funny and heartwarming#still soccer to me#phil dunster

Constantly disappointed with the grassroots online presence of AFL. You search it up on YouTube and the ONLY results are from mainstream media or official channels. It's disheartening to see youtubers that bleed for this sport only get a few thousand views for videos at most, when fan content for other sports is so widespread. Even when the players have youtube channels, they're tiny.
I dunno what I wanna say here, guess its a bit of a shock to me how small a percentage of the overall internet population Aussies really make up.
If you want Footy to grow on the internet, you gotta support your club's youtubers. As a Blues fan, I can't recommend Blue Abroad enough. Tez and everyone that puts work into that channel pour their heart and soul into it and it really shows. For every single game, they do a video and 3 livestreams before, a live watch along, then 2 livestreams and a video after, and that doesn't include the other podcasts he does throughout the week. Tez doesn't care about the parasocial nature of streaming either, the first stream after a game is for Fancams, where he posts a link to call in with a video call from anywhere and chat to him about the game and how you're feeling, and he actually tries to get to know you across multiple appearances. Then only one or two days later he streams a detailed algorithmic analysis of each player. It's seriously the best online community I've ever been in, and I hope fans of other clubs can find someone similar.

I hope this isn't offensive but Aussies watch NFL? <3
yes but its definitely a younger thing and not at all as much as other sports and i checked and there IS a minor gridiron (what we call american football) governing body here but they're pretty small and id never heard of them till now 💀
its cos we have AFL (australian football league) that plays aussie rules football. we're kinda like the usa in that we have our own kind of football and therefore call 'football' soccer. also honestly your football is SOOO pussy omg you guys wear pads and helmets? look at our glorious boys climbing all over each other sling tackling shoving each other in short shorts and jerseys and nothing else REAL MEN!!!
and our beautiful ball with the maccas logo on it. in terms of sports popularity in australia it goes AFL, cricket, rugby, soccer, tennis as the top 5, then basketball netball and maybe formula one. the MCG (melbourne cricket ground) is where all the big sports stuff is held and traffic and public transport is an absolute nightmare when there are games (i lived in melbourne which is THE home of the afl, since the afl used to be just for the state of victoria (vfl) which is where melbourne is)
HOWEVER. we are probably comparitavely one of the bigger non-american fans of american football, i checked and the superbowl had ~a million viewers. australians love sports and tv and ESPECIALLY gambling lol

Favorite quote/s that you wish to share with others?
Some quotes my dad likes to tell me when i’m really anxious over university/ actively having a panic attack are:
“you can only do what you can do” - which pretty much means that all i can do is my best, and the rest will sort itself out, there’s no use stressing over situations i have no control over.
“how do you eat an elephant?” - which basically means, to tackle something large you take it one step at a time, ergo - to eat an elephant you eat it piece by piece
Random fact your mutuals/followers don’t know about you?
Oh God, i’m not a very interesting person 🧍🏼♀️
