idk i just feel like there's something particularly cruel about having a solid episode concept like "verosika hosts a fuck you party for blitz and everyone else he's fucked over," because its a great way to show a pattern of behavior in blitz and the effect he has on others he's been with and hurt!

then.. they put stolas there. stolas, "you have sex with me every month or your I.M.P is going under without my book you need, no exceptions until i legally gave you an asmodean crystal a year later, for your work", goetia, or whatever the fuck his last name is.

this episode is trying so hard to make stolas on equal levels to verosika and the other imps dumped by blitz, but if any of these hellborn actually knew how he got into a "relationship" with blitz to begin with, and how blitz never even had a choice in whether or not he wants to be with stolas, (even when they were kids!) i really doubt theyd want anything to do with him. stolas never explains that their relationship wasnt a relationship, just a transactional monthly hookup to literally keep blitz's business afloat. he doesn't, because he STILL doesn't fully understand what he did wrong, but understands it enough to know he had to be the one to break off the deal he made. i doubt he'll ever actually explain what the deal was to any outsiders who ask, because then stolas would be forced to actually be held accountable for his own actions, and we cant possibly have that! /sar

i think one of the worst lines from stolas in this episode, aside from most of them because i think hes annoying, was when blitz expressed he didnt know why anyone would care about him, stolas responds that this party, dedicated to blitz, because they hate him so much, shows how much they ""care."" and that might have some kind of point coming out of verosikas mouth- implying that these people genuinely cared for him at one point and he pushed them away- but absolutely not stolas's. so its no wonder that blitz responds by self deprecating himself, saying, "i dont even know why youd want to be with me." followed by stolas admitting that what he really wants is someone to care about him.

and honestly, thats another thing too. i cant believe that after everything, after everything stolas has claimed about wanting blitz because he loves and respects him, when blitz then asks WHY stolas wants him, stolas responds, "you know what i want? i want to know what its like to not be alone. i want to be someone's someone. i want someone to care about me." because it shouldve been his moment to explain to blitz what he sees in him, and why he fell in love with him to begin with the more they slept together. but it wasnt.

not only is it unbelievably selfish of stolas to make blitz go through all of this for almost a year, to not only have NO reason as to why he has/had feelings for blitz, (basically confirming to me that stolas never really cared about blitz or his feelings, still doesn't, and just needed to have an adult relationship someone who didn't outwardly hate his guts like stella did, because were 2 and a half fucking seasons into this show and still dont know why the love interest romantically wants the main character, and die hard viv stans still think the stoliz insta posts count as canon because they're on copium,) but to ignore the one good thing in his life that he insists that he genuinely loves, octavia, in favor of him acting as if he'll die alone completely if he doesn't have a partner..

aikatsu stars 2nd season rant

ok im couple of episodes in now and its a good thing im working while watching because i would rage quit otherwise

have to preface this with wow this is even gayer now with elza being so open with actions and words...

there is a fatal flaw to that though, i cant claim it 100% since im obviously not very deep in the story but she seem manipulative as fuck to me and i would take it if it wasnt so...yucky i guess

like despite me hating edgworth at first manipulation was the fun part with his character and dont even get me started on nahyuta because im playing aa6 rn, i love the guy

elza is just...weird. she is the out of touch rich kid who made fun of you in school. she is regina george of aikatsu (how fitting for her to be in a trio too lmao) ive seen a comment saying its because of her mothers approval but i feel like there were so many ways to set up and develop her character even up to this point that doesnt do....whatever this is. im not the greatest writer (barely one at all) but i personally would make these changes:

dont make hime and some other older and/or experienced characters acknowledge elza to the extent they do. with aikatsu so heavily revolving around feelings and intent i cannot fanthom how anyone would say that perfect but soulless perfomance (and focusing on perfection in the first place) is truly perfect. elza cant be the worlds "greatest idol" because she doesnt really break through, she just maintains the status quo (as a rich person i guess it is in line with her character) to perfection. her brand does look amazing and i think admitting that and her perfomance skills is good and neccesary; but i think its weird for hime to refuse her yet somehow not see that she lacks the fundamentals aikatsu likes to preach about (friends/rivals, individuality, emotions and all that which dont get me wrong i love)

following point 1, i would love to see elza perform more and actually break overtime (maybe it will happen and i will be glad if so). similar to yume's power the perfectionism WILL destroy you and eat you inside (if we are talking about some realism here but even in terms of simple childrens lesson), it would make so much sense for her to one day collapse and have to build up all the fundamentals from the ground up (which is not even that hard to do, she is obviously surrounded by people who genuinely like her and she *is* passionate, just in the wrong direction)

no way people actually like her. skills aside, she is nasty to people she perseves as worse than her...personality is a staple thing for an idol, she doesnt even hide being a mean girl??? if even two cases of her being rude got known i feel like she would lose a lot of fans (happened irl at least in k pop several times!!). maybe its too realistic of an approach for aikatsu but it would make sense for her to be two faced, at least

thew thing i hate the most about aikatsu - they dont commit to the antagonists being antagonists at all. the stakes in dreaka arc were so high (according to the show itself!! they literally set it up as a job competition situation) and then it was just a big nothing because wow dreaca idols are actually good and we all get jobs. i get that being a bigger person for mc is the route they take (and with ichigo it genuinely made sense, she is just like that with everything) but no one being even a little hesitant about their supposed rivals?? not even mentioning how mary sue most of dreaca episodes were (again, especially seira) where they got the jobs just because they were the new characters. the conflict was set up and then not developed at all!!!!! either make them so evil im allowed to hate them and not cheer for them or dont make them so mean spirited in the first place, esp now with eliza. i hate that they make it seem so serious but then you are supposed to be like wow i love these new girls. ambiguous and morally grey characters are great dont get me wrong, but what aikatsu does is just inconsistent with what they themselves set up the show to be. i loved the first season of stars because the rivalry and conflict was there with yume and laura but it wasnt showed as laura just being a rival and nothing else. even if they werent friends with yume (or more from what i see lmao) i would take it because her growth arc is amazing. there were no antagonists but the stakes were still high and it was interesting to watch. i think the most beautiful aikatsu arcs come from similar place: admiration, chasing someone out of reach, battling yourself and *friendly* rivalry. i love akari's story even though its a weaker season compared to the first one because it was mirroring ichigo's arc so much

all of that yapping basically to say that antagonists in aikatsu are always inbinsible somehow: no matter how good the mcs get, no matter how many "thinking" mistakes that were already overcome by mcs they make they never fail and it pisses me off because its just not following the universe?? world logic?? rules. i get that power of love cant make you sing better irl but fuck its such a central theme in aikatsu that i refuse to believe they suddenly decided not to apply it to elza for any reason other than "she is better because we said so"

for this post in particular, i would also like to add that in the transferring of species ownership, there are cetrain things that can be assumed to change ownership along with the transfer. (this is not the first time a species has ever been transferred in ownership). for one, the site. obviously thats needed for species functions so it now belongs to cal. another is NPCs, other species when transferred will give the NPCs to relevant staff because they are an integral part of species function. in this specific instance, the pets, since they were never a part of the original agreement they are assumed to move ownership as well. coy can make the argument they want their art taken down, thats perfectly fine, they could even say they want their designs taken down, but again, the problem is that this is not something that can just be done at the drop of a hat. you need to find replacements and create new assets. breaking in to the site and vandalizing it because you wanted to be a bitch baby and have no patience is immature and wrong. the site has changed ownership. you do not have agency over it anymore, you dont get to go in and delete things without asking.

lets compare this to an oc you trade on toyhouse. lets say you own this OC for a year, and you have drawn a good amount of art for it. then you trade it away, boop, gone, not yours anymore. lets say later on you dont want your art featured on that OC’s page. problem is, that art you drew is embedded within the character’s profile code. you have the full right to delete the art, but you cant just break into the OC’s profile code and fuck around with it yourself. you have to ask the new owner to take it down, and they say of course, but youll have to be patient so they can redraw a new asset for the code.

granted, this example falls short in some ways, but you get what im trying to say

Neither method is lesser than the others, they are both borne of necessity required by their positions and grabbing an opportunity where you see it, when you see it. Where Silver standing over the dead body of the cook on the merchant ship is undoubtedly suspicious, that suspicion is put on hold for more pressing matters, after all there was just a bloody battle between the two ships and who can say what the truth really is? If Max were to have killed Silver for the page, she could not have claimed the same and likely would have been punished by her superiors as well as the Walrus crew for doing so, her survival would likely be put into question. They are both very aware of the consequences of both the actions they do take as well as the ones they avoid.

Re-reading all of the shit about Xehanort's time travel escapades has been very frustrating to me but outside of all that shit which is so clearly like, "oh no how do I make all this make sense" type shit, I've been really annoyed by two things in KH2 that I feel are uncommon complaints

First is why Xemnas just stood there like a neanderthal while Ansem shot a laser at the moon and fucked up everything they had worked on for years, and the other is Riku handing Kairi HER Keyblade. He literally is like here use this and gives her a keyblade that I guess he just had on him which is uniqiely Kairi coded, and then she swings it twice and then never does another action for the rest of the franchise and then gets left behind at the end of Melody of Memories which is Her Game

Giving other characters keyblades was like the biggest fuck up of all time because its like okay whats special about the one Sora has if literally everyone has one, but they probably realized they had to do it because youre not supposed to be able to kill heartless without it, because if you could then Cloud and Squall could solve the whole problem themselves. But I guess theyre also not worthy of being keyblade wielders which wouldnt be weird if only Sora had one

And to touch on the true org 13 shit a little bit I think its funny they never bothered to come up with human names for Demyx and Luxord, but also its a little understated how tonally dissonant the organization is. Theyre portrayed as being kinda loserish in a way that makes them non-threatening, but their ultimate purpose and goal involves like rewriting the code of the universe? Which is like a pretty big deal? Xehanort did time travel shit and had Xemnas hand pick goons for his ultimate evil scheme to usurp heaven and he saw Demyx and was like yeah you'll do. And Demyx is like will I??? And its funny that there's one guy on the team who kinda sucks but the problem is that they dont do anything with that in 2 where he's introduced cuz I assume they didnt have time because they decided to establish and kill 13 antagonists, but then later when you reveal that all these dweebs are in on a plot to, again, usurp the seat of god, its like was there Nobody better suited to this shit? okay i finished the episode and have many thoughts. first i feel like this episode was a little lack luster in comparison to what we’ve seen before but also i know we’re picking back up from the climax of the show where we ended last time so that makes sense. however i feel like there was a few moments with the characters that make me v nervous for how the writing for the rest of the show is going to go. like when yelena asks the group to admit that zekes euthanization plan was the best course of action and hange agrees with her? we dont even get any further context as to why hange agrees. i feel like this is especially weird because hange has been one of the main characters who at length has discussed why they feel like euthanization and the rumbling are both crimes against humanity. so for hange to just agree with no context given to us right before they die is actually crazy to me. 

also annie deciding not to join the fight because she has a crush on armin??? feels so out of character for her?? like she was just telling mikasa only a few episodes ago that she would join their fight but they have to be able to kill eren. and now she likes armin so she cant fight? and the fact that also everyone agrees with her is also out of character, especially for people like jean and connie. 

idk maybe we’ll get more context next episode WHICH DOESNT COME OUT UNTIL FALL! but we likely wont get more context on hange’s position because theyre dead, which makes me less hopeful we’ll get context for the other 180 character changes on people’s positions towards what is going on right now. over all the episode wasnt bad, but it also wasnt great which i feel is a little dissapointing since aot is known for getting better and better every season, especially in dialogue. dont get me wrong, the fight scenes were great and not all the dialogue was bad. the parts that were though makes me worried that we’re getting a rushed through ending of aot because mappa writers are over worked right now with everything else the studio is doing. i also wish we werent getting 3 60min long episodes with 6 months or more between each one. maybe its an uncommon opinion but i personally would have rather waited until 2024, or until whenever the studio was ready to put out the entirety of the end of the show, because i feel like that also would have given them more time to go over the writing more as well. 

positives though, animation was great as always. the long sequence of showing the devastation of the rumbling was also done really well, and really highlighted just how massive the destruction was to so many people. i loved finally having levi back in action even if it was right at the end. also the way the beast titan operates with the founding is actually crazy. the scale of how large the founding titan is insane that theyre literally fighting on his back. and FLOCH IS FINALLY DEAD LETS FUCKING GOOO

what i'd want to do is give him back the crime boss persona. not like he was in utrh, not entirely, but give him an attitude, set of values and principles that isn't the regular approach vigilantes have of investigating crimes and acting as aftermath. that's what's most interesting to me about red hood, that he takes proactive actions and has this 'control to prevent' attitude, there's a lot to be done with a 'good' guy doing something pretty much all of the heroes look down upon, things to explore and question and measure, and im not just talking about the 'to kill or not to kill' problem, but also 'is it ok to break in and beat people as a vigilante? where do you draw the line of what's admitted or not for a vigilante to do just because they've got good intentions even if legally it is a crime? you can leak drug deals information to the police but cannot do them yourself to manipulate the results as you want? what's moral, what's accepted as good and bad actions?' and all that jazz

the book ends with jason as this new gotham kingpin that even batman can't take down (and batman genuinely tries to, he just can't because jason is competent, he was trained right), thus putting a new status quo for following writers to stick to in the coming years, and maybe then we'd get stories that are deeper than just 'oh is killing good or bad? what does my dad want me to do because i don't have a personal moral anymore'

but when dream says he "doesn't care about anyone or anything" after spirit dies except for tommy's discs (or more simply, tommy and being able to control tommy such as via the discs), what do we see after? him dethroning his friend for not being neutral enough (and yes, partially bc george was attacked a lot, i fully admit!) and thus causing more strain on their friendships, him putting himself in positions (such as exile and as tubbo's "friend") to get closer to the discs and to tommy, him building a literal shrine to the discs and planning to kill tubbo and imprison tommy for an unspecified amount of time (even if the prison wasn't originally built for tommy, it doesn't change the fact that he was indeed planning it). the fact that it took tommy threatening his death to get dream to come back down to the hall of attachments. even in the prison he still seems so focused on tommy (him asking if quackity thought him killing tommy was cool comes to mind). these actions simply DONT conflict with his line, if anything they help confirm it as true.

im not saying you can't still argue that he secretly cares about things other than tommy. if you like that interpretation, go wild! im sure theres bits you can point to and if you have fun w it im not here to be the fun police and tell you to stop

tony stark isn't a real person, and i feel like creating a blog and making posts devoted to hating people who are fans of him to be kind of ... jerkish? don't yuck other people's yum, man.

I'M not even a big Tony fan (I'm mostly indifferent towards him), and accounts like this seem rather unnecessary for stuff that ultimately doesn't matter.

Why waste all our time sending an ask like that? Seriously. If you spent even a little time scrolling you'd know this blog isn't only about Tony, it hasn't ever been. And I do enjoy thinking critically about the media I consume, thank you very much. 12 Anti LO Asks

1. its victim blaming of hades to tell minthe its HER fault she "couldnt get over him". like? you lied to her! youre the one who blurred the lines to date her! you were just as toxic to her if not more so by controlling where she lives and her job, all while never defending her to your cruel family! you had all the power over her while she had nothing! you dumped her for a 19 year old and dont care she crippled minthe! i wont excuse minthe's actions, but hades is ultimately the worse of the two IMO

2. you know why fans claimed "Minthe should've reacted better"? since the first episode Rachel has been drilling into their heads Minthe is an irredeemable monster, and her not bending over backwards to H/P means she deserves the absolute worst. Minthe reacting how anyone logically would doesn't matter when LO is designed to coddle H/P, and anyone against them must suffer for it, even if the victim to H/P's actions. they never wanted her to be "redeemed", they want her head on a silver platter.

3. i know this is not what she intended bc the only characterization rachel has of hxp is "the best over everything" but uh, does she know having hades control all the petroleum and gasses and whatever else is actively destroying the planet, right? like hes helping the very thing persephone draws her power from and what she's connected to be destroyed to appease hes need for wealth and power. its kinda gross hes being romanticized while he commits horrible acts like this for his bank account.

4. its not impossible to go opposite in their original myth personalities and still have it work. like in hades game, sisyphus is one of the most likable characters, achilles is gentle and kind, ares is calm and rational, etc, but it makes sense within the context of the story. LO in comparison goes "all these loving mothers are evil because i said so! this beloved god is now evil because i said so! minthe is evil because i said so!" and that's about it in terms of logic to these wild changes.

5. I can kinda get behind anon's theory about the flower nymphs looking like P to help her be undetected, the problem is there are also unrelated women in comic who are bright pink and look just like her, with hades even confusing them for her! if i had to bet the only reason they look like that is because rachel just wanted daphne to look like her to hammer home apollo is "obsessed" with P and to fake them as her "real family" over demeter. also just laziness in designing characters in general.

6. its weird hades and persephone are well aware what they're doing is bad even openly admitting it and yet the narrative is so hellbent on excusing their bad actions?? like hades being the major toxic factor in his relationship to minthe, persephone killing people, or hades wanting to bone an eternal 19 year old? like rachel you know thats not how character growth works, right? you cant show they have horrible flaws and leave them to never grow and learn from it, that's not good writing at all.

7. what i also dont get is the hierarchy makes no sense? like zeus is framed as the top god, but that would mean hades cant be the most important man ever so rachel also made him equal rank with zeus (and i guess poseidon too) so?? how does zeus have all that power over them then if theyre all equal? is it because zeus swallowed metis?  also how are the fertility goddess so powerful and rare yet so easily taken down? how are they overpowered and super weak at the same time? i just dont get it.

8. Re reading chapter 144 and other anon is right we do see the pomegranate pin on Hades outfit (so Hades gifts it to her)

But also some things to note

During the makeout session persy begins to disappear in butterfly form and hades is like "no don't leave!" And he grabs her, preventing her from leaving. Which is..kinda Ick considering they were on their way to having (public) sex and he doesn't want her to leave which seems like he's not really respecting her boundaries? (because if she does he'll "be lonely")

The pomegranate pin is Hades' to begin with so technically one of Persephones symbols is not hers (yes I know in the original myth she ate it in the underworld / was forced to eat it but still its supposed to be her symbol)

Hades notes that he "doesn't want to overstep his boundaries as host" because Persephone is a guest (too late for that)

Persephones main concern (after what a week or 2?) after being raped is when Hades wants to stop her reaction is "dont you want me anymore?"

Girl you aren't even dating ...??

Persy's literal one and only concern is that she thinks if she doesnt sleep with Hades right then or when/if he wants to that "she wont be able to give him what hes used to" ... Which is reinforcing that she went to therapy to get "over being blocked" in regards to having sex

Although Hades does mention that she shouldn't feel like she needs to please him and that a kiss can just be a kiss which would be nice

(And yet his thinking of marrying her amd he's known her for 2, 3 weeks? ... And he says "the beginning of a new relationship is exciting and scary" so hes basically indicating thay their dating at this point, I think?)

And later the nymphs in the store are like "do you wanna be the dominatrix of the bedroom?? Buy this lingerie!" And persy does. So??

Meanwhile Demeter is very worried for her daughter who is busy sitting in Hades lap in a pool.

10. im not even against rushed relationships, ive known actual couples who met and were married all within the same year and it worked out great, the difference though is these were people who had their own lives and previous relationships. the issue with LO is RS designed it so Persephone can NEVER have relationships or a life outside of Hades, and if they did get married offscreen, it's framing their marriage in a toxic and unbalanced light. That's not a romance, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

11. i feel like there's a difference between drawing an interesting hooked/aquiline nose versus whatever the hell RS puts on Hades' face. It honestly looks like he's in between morphing into a bird half the time since it just looks like a beak over an actual facial feature.

12. are there shareholders or a board of advisors or something at underworld corp? because if there is id say they have more than enough reason to kick hades out and strip him of his titles/shares because of all the shit he's caused by being guided by his broken pp over thinking with his head. liking dating TWO employees? and getting one of them phsyically crippled by the other bc he can't be honest with either of them and she's a walking time bomb? he's a walking HR nightmare.

i'm sorry that you had to deal with people invalidating your trauma and experiences, i myself like leona but still have a genuine distaste for the all things he had done and said towards ruggie, who had literally never even gotten an apology for nearly getting killed! to all the other anons who have defended leona:

you know that it is okay to like a character but still be critical of their actions right? you know that its okay to want to see him change to be a better person without outright ignoring all the unforgiveable things he's done? you cant even say that, "well that's just leona's personality, it would be out of character if he even remotely apologized for the things he did" do you realize that that exactly the reason why him doing so would be incredibly impactful to his character? because that would actually show his genuine potential to change, as slow as that development may come to be.

keep in mind that you cannot meaningfully grow as a person, whether if you're talking about it fictionally or realistically, if you do not recognize and admit to the fact that you have done others wrong, and then showing that you are willing to do whatever it is necessary to make up for your past mistakes.

even then, even if you've already compensated for all that you have done, you still don't owe anyone's forgiveness for the way you've treated them badly in the past. you cannot decide for others if you are worth forgiving, only the victims of your harmful actions can decide if they're willing to do so or not, as they are under no obligation to forgive you for anything.

but wait, before you come up with a counterargument let me emphasize this as well: just cause people aren't willing to forgive someone for their reprehensible actions, doesn't mean they aren't willing to move past that and make things better for each other, cause surprise, surprise! when people care for one another, they are willing to make compromises for each other.

although ruggie can't forgive leona for literally ALMOST KILLING HIM, he couldn't bear to see leona being so depressed to the point where he was actively being destructive both to himself and others, since he couldn't find any other way to get what he had always wanted, despite everything he had done to do so.

IF ONLY LEONA HAD APOLOGIZED. if only he had shown any sign of remorse for how he's mistreated ruggie, and how he has said many insensitive things about his impoverishment. even vil was able to recognize that neige had his own fair share of struggles, even if he couldn't personally relate to it. CAUSE HEY HERE'S ANOTHER THING: JUST CAUSE YOU CAN'T RELATE TO SOMEONE'S PAIN DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS THEM.

you cannot even blame it on his pride, nor can you excuse his actions because of the trauma he's been through, because even all the other overblotted characters who had to deal with similar issues, were able to lower their pride to apologize and sought for recompense to the people they have hurt. and were able to admit that yeah, what they did was really messed up.

and before someone says, "well leona's just a fictional character, and it's all just a made up story anyway, there's no need to get so worked up about it. there's no need to overanalyze his character when you can just enjoy him as he is"

why are you even here in the first place? in a blog that talks often about in-depth character analysis? you cant just walk into a hall of mirrors and complain that there's too many mirrors, cause you're the one who chose to be there.
