i think the thing that annoys me most about 'bad dad' clark fics is the fact that they feel really mean-spirited about superman in general. almost like they're telling ppl 'seee! superman's not great after all! he's just as bad as you and me! in fact, he's worse! look at how he's treating this innocent child' and it's almost like lex luthor himself is running a smear campaign on ao3

Can we talk about how normal and incredibly human Luffy was in this scene?

His earth shattering grief didnt awaken any supernatural haki or abilities within him, instead it overwhelmed him, it was destroying him. The bleeding from his throat while his eyes lose focus and his body goes into shock - grief is ugly, loud, destructive and it tears you apart and leaves you vulnerable out in the open- thats what happening to him.

This was Luffy's, a 17 year old kid's moment of overwhelming realization that humans are powerless and weak on the face of death as his brother bled out in his arms while he (and world's most powerful pirate whitebeard) watched it helplessly. This was the biggest loss of his life as he understood that sometimes no matter how hard you try, things don't work out for you. This was when Luffy witnessed the consequence of the path he (and ace) had chosen, that a pirate life was actually much harder than just adventure and freedom and that there was a heavy price to pay, that death could take anyone anytime.

This wasnt just sadness, this was the end of the world for Luffy and he wasn't the same person after this moment.

The Courting Season by @anarchycox (The Witcher TV, 47k), casebound at folio size for @silentsunpress as part of the Renegard 2024 binder's exchange!

I leaned into a flowery, elegant design for this one, and used a lot of William Morris assets and motifs to decorate the cover and typeset, and the result is really nicely cohesive - I even embroidered the cover and gold-foiled the edges!! Fonts used: Georgia (for body text) and Felix Titling (for titling).

I will admit I'm a little salty that people, in an effort to prove that there is no good dialogue in Veilguard at all, keep comparing mission exposition to the high point narrative set pieces of prior games. I agree that some of the writing related to plot mechanics and mission exposition in Veilguard is a little too utilitarian, but that doesn't mean none of the dialogue is good or that prior games didn't also sometimes have this issue here and there.

I also generally dislike when people put the bar for good writing — and all writing too, not even just dialogue writing, ALL writing — at mic-drop sentences that still sound good completely divorced from context, because that really just reduces "good writing" down to like fake-deep philosophizing or witty quips exclusively. sometimes, a really good bit of dialogue sounds like a completely normal sentence out of context.

Yesterday I was playing HL2 modded, and I guess one of the mods messed up (unsure which one) and left me with a Gman with really weird eyes

I don't even have any gman addons aside from one that restores the glow of his eyes. and even deactivating that one didn't fix it

The Young Justice learns about a new experiment going on at Cadmus once again involving cloning and decides to go rescue the clones. They expertly break into the facility avoiding all alarms only to find out that they trigger anyway. Instead of a voice coming on over the intercoms announcing intruders though, it instead announces an escape. What?

The team continues navigating the base until they come across two kids. The older boy can't be older than 8 while the girl being tugged along behind him looks around 5. The boy narrows his eyes and his body tenses up.

"You're definitely not guards. Who are you?" He questions.

It's Superboy who steps up and says "We're the Young Justice. We came here to rescue you."

The boy doesn't seem to believe them but the girl immediately gets excited. Apparently she couldn't wait to meet real life superheroes. Especially Superboy. That means whatever Cadmus was doing with the kids, they'd already implanted knowledge of the outside world in them. That didn't bode well.

The team decides to push that to the back of their minds for now and focus on the mission. They manage to convince the boy (with the help of the girl) to come with them and they get the two out of the facility. Of course this is after they take all the information they can from the servers (Thanks Robin).

As they get both kids to the medical wing on the Watchtower, the boy introduces himself as Danny and the little girl as his sister Ellie. Connor's never seen clones with such a close bond before and he can admit he's a little jealous that he and Match don't have that kind of relationship. Still he's just happy they rescued the two.

Now to find out who they're clones of and what Cadmus wanted to use them for.

Fic idea: Batman and Joker acting like a real life toxic couple while not being in an actual relationship (and making everyone extremely confused).

Bruce: the only thing he gave me for Valentine's Day last year was a rather average hostage situation and 2 stab wounds. Can you believe THAT?

The Batfam: ????

Joker: what did take you so long? Oh, let me guess. I bet you were with Eddie as always.

Bruce: *stops trying to beat the Joker and just stays there, looking exhausted; as if this were a pretty old argument* Joker, we've had this discussion before. I'm not seeing other rogues because I think they're better than you, but because they'll kill everyone in this city if I'm not here to stop them. Is it so hard to understand?

Joker: *tries to stab Bruce for the third time in this interaction*

*after his latest scheme, Joker is put into Arkham again and while the guards search him for dangerous objects, Bruce approaches and grabs Joker's phone off the table.

Dick: *assumes that Bruce is looking for more information about Joker's plan, but still tries to see what Bruce's reading and well...* Hey B, why are you reading his two years old messages?

Bruce: because I don't know what he was doing in a two weeks interval exactly two years, five months, one week, four days, seven hours, ten minutes and fifteen seconds ago. And I need to know it...

Bruce: *then his expression turns terrifying blank* he was texting Lex Luthor, calling him dear...

....

Bruce: can you ask the hostages if they can wait a little bit more? My batsuit is wrinkled and I don't want the Joker to see me like this. It won't take so long...

Gordon: ....

Hunter, what’s the meanest thing Artificer’s ever done to you?

(Okay so this is pre-Hunter-getting-beat-up-by-Arti, and I sorta changed it to just a mean thing she did when they were growing up lol, sorry!)

Hunter: She did a lot of mean things when we were kids, it’s hard to pick. But I guess there was one time that did hurt more than usual.

After I got the scar on my eye, I was… pretty insecure about it I guess. And she was really mean about how ugly I looked. 

Considering what her face looks like now, she’s lucky I’m not out for revenge.

(Hunter gets to throw a little shade. As a treat.)

I need the twst fandom to think if a fan who ships a ship they dislike is worse than them sending death threats to said person.

Because look at it, you're sending genuine wishes of harm to a person because of two disney anime boys you don't like together.

I'm saying this because I've been called toxic, an abuse supporter, somehow, and a toxic person over RookBil and FloRid and was bullied and even told to kill myself over Malleo to the point I just stopped shipping it.

But no, you definitely look like the sane one here.
