sorry I'm having thoughts because I haven't slept and when I don't sleep I have thoughts....................
I was thinking about Canon Suave Ganondorf again, and... I think what bothers me, beyond everything discussed, is that... it's not characterization? Like for example take Girahim, which I would argue is also a Sexy Villain. Him being a Sexy Villain is 1) a key factor of his presentation and double-edged creepiness, 2) has kind of a lot to do with his literal objectification and 3) is completely played as such, and Girahim himself has a lot of fun with his own theatrics. I don't mind Sexy Villains, they are a lot of fun and they can even be quite meaningful!
So I am not against Sexy Ganondorf by default. I feel like, if played honestly and not ashamed of its own conceit, it could be genuinely interesting! But I find kind of offputting that his sexualization happens almost exclusively extradiegetically. It's the camera leering, it's the clothes that, while really pretty and cool and interesting, do not actually inform us much about the character wearing them on screen, the behind-the-scenes tidbits that are just... not represented within the world of the game... And so, to me, where Girahim lands somewhere on the Bayonetta scale, TotK Ganon is kind of landing... I don't know, somewhere near "skimpy outfit worn by a character that would never wear something like this if given the choice, and the world doesn't ever question why she would and what that says about her"? I don't know if that makes sense, but, yeah. If you want him to seduce everyone, then. Do that. Make him active. Make him own that weird trait you decided to give him all of a sudden.
But again, given the game is deeply uninterested in Ganon as a person, but very interested as Ganon as an antagonistic object, it does end up feeling weirdly objectifying in that regard too.

Bloodborne is seriously the most beautiful game of all time i think about this every single time i replay it but genuinely. Just exploring yharnam and staring in awe at how gorgeous everything is, its never about graphics, bloodborne has a noticeable stylization i think in a way even stronger than other fromsoft games, and the use of lighting and color palettes is just so good it makes me want to Be there. The game is already so stunning as it is ingame but i think having access to the map viewer on my own to the side made me appreciate it even more i love seeing the way everything is constructed and put together with just the flat textures before applying any engines and even as flat surfaces you can just feel the cohesion in the backgrounds, even textureless stripped of everything that makes it "beautiful" it still feels so unique and already gets the vibe across and that explains how the game feels the way it does visually, which is something i think a lot of current gen "high fidelity" games struggle with. Hard to explain what I mean but I feel it. Also i love the slight like chromatic aberration effect bb has on the edges of the screen it adds such a nice touch to the atmosphere honestly. Sighs dreamily

cancel culture is one of society’s worst downfalls because it just does such a good job of labeling moments of ignorance as actual bigotry and people who willingly try to learn and be better will be dragged mercilessly while the actual racist and misogynistic and abusive people who show us time and time again that they have not changed and will never care to change still have careers

i know realistically we'll never get another sims world in ts4 that has beaches so it sucks so bad that the only 'beach' lots (& world) we have are in sulani bc sulani is based on polynesian islands and while thats really cool and all i do just want like...a beach my sims can go to that doesnt feel like we just took a vacay (bc i play boring suburban families lmao).. & i wish we could get a sims 4 world based on australia esp australian seaside towns bc i would love to recreate one of my favourite suburbs
im not even asking for an ENTIRE sims 4 world that is just beach like i do Not want that lmfao. i just want ea to give us another beach lot bc while they did create swimmable areas in ts4 like in copperdale and i think also willow creek? theyre not beach LOTS so we cant edit them to add things or have houses on the water there. i really dislike that sims 4 feels so limited in what i can do in worlds in this way. like it feels so nonsensical for my sims to travel from willow creek to sulani to see the beach when what i want is just. to have a beach in willow creek. or a beach in newcrest. like. all of the windenburg island is OUTLINED in beach but there is no actual lot. i dont think it would be even that hard for ea to do a redux of some worlds and include extra lots. it might mess around w the maps a bit but realistically they should be able to do that imo.... anyway if ea ever created a sims 4 world based off of australia i know theyd probably do the outback or smthing but wouldnt it be so nice to have a recreation of australian cities & our beaches instead SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have so much nostalgia for femme fatale era because that was probably the first time i realized i was a britney FAN whether i wanted to be one or not. it came out when i was 12, around the time i was first able to make my own music-listening choices off of whatever was marketed to solely a preteen demographic. i had only heard of britney spears as someone immensely popular yet embarrassing to like, even though i knew a ton of her biggest hits from her whole career since i was a baby and pretty much liked-to-love all of them. so when i would hear brand new songs like hold it against me and i wanna go on the radio i was like oh shit, i'm old enough to listen to big kid music on my own now, and these are amazing?
and i couldn't help but follow the rest of the singles as they came out, and go back and listen to all of her older songs (the ones i knew and the ones i didn't) on my own and be like HOLY goddamn. like my mind just exploded. it's one thing to hear all her songs in passing because they're megapopular and you are alive, but it's another thing to binge her discography for the first time and really put together that she put out dozens and dozens of the great pop songs you've ever heard, one after another, constantly, for (at that point) over a decade, my entire life! just being shocked and in awe at the evolution of such a pop goddess. i was just so fascinated and in awe. i was like no one on this earth can ever touch the career and accomplishments of the legendary miss britney spears. no one ever will.
also, criminal. such an underrated song, it wasn't even that popular at the time. i still remember the first time i heard it when the lyric video dropped and i decided from that instant on that i was going to be a terrible person.
