She’s a bit more of my interpretation of her with her slightly hooked nose 🤷‍♀️

I haven’t watched all of One Piece but still wanted to draw her, she’s so pretty 😩💕

I signed up for Ixchel's three month fibre subscription.

October was inspired by the painting The Foxes by Franz Marc.

It's a mix of Blue Face Lester, Ouessant, and silk.

I have chain plyed it to preserve the colour transitions. It's beautiful, I am so happy with it.

Going to mix up all stars teams for a Au I have in mind with Gabby and Jake as friends. It’s basically somehow gabby finds a way back to the beginning of season 1 and fixes her mistakes and becomes close friends with Jake, Tom and Miriam. I’ll explain it more in another post!

Did some wheel maintenance today, remains to be seen if I'll get my daily TdF spin in.

This wheel has some quirks that while she can spin, it's kind of annoying. Main thing was the back leather bearing (what I'm holding in the picture). It was a replacement for the original I got with the wheel, but the leather's too flimsy, so I'm trying just a leather cord that's tied into place. Fingers crossed it'll make things smoother until I can get a new, stronger leather bearing made.

Also tried some Howard's Feed & Wax on the wooden tensioning screw & the base of the mother of all. The whole wheel's covered in a substance that the Howard's doesn't penetrate (considering if it'd be worth it to strip & refinish it) but the areas of exposed wood are VERY dry. Feeding it in those spots did wonders. The tension's always been sticky and creaky, but now it's smooth and totally silent. Awesome for now, but I've heard paraffin wax suggested for wood-on-wood parts of antique wheels and want to give that a shot for long term protection.

We have a FB group and Discord, daily (non required) check ins, and welcome spinners of all skill levels. We're not in it to win it - we all set our own personal goals. My goal is usually to spin a little every day - I usually get between 40-300 yards completed. Our most prolific hand spinner gets 2000 yards! One year my goal was to spin a different type of fiber every day. It was really fun and educational putting deliberate focus on my spinning, which I usually don't do.

I bought this Merino/bamboo roving at a Fiber Fest in Indiana about 7 years ago.

I had a hard time spinning the other day. The spindle, bobbin, and flyer kept falling out. Turns out the Mother of All wasn’t tight in its mount.

It’s still slow going because I can’t keep a good rhythm with the treadle… but It's been like 5 years since I did any spinning on the wheel.

But I have to quit for now because that stool hurts my back.
