Hi. I love Hades and Hades 2 as much as everyone else but we NEED to make some noise because Supergiant is refusing to sign contracts with fair pay and anti-AI clauses. And they are straight up recasting VAs to punish VAs who are striking (sag-aftra has been striking for 7 months).

We really need to make noise here because this mistreatment will continue if we don't.

I wish people would understand that not everything is for everyone to get. you will be left out of some conversations, a lot of art will not apply to you, you will not like things that people you like enjoy, and just because you cannot add to the topic of discussion or relate does not mean that it is not valued or worthwhile. the internet has coddled people to such a concerning extent that everyone feels like they need to vocally disagree with something just because they don’t get it. Hummingbirds Living in a Hive Found for the First Time

In a remote mountain cave in Ecuador, hummingbirds were discovered sleeping and nesting together.

Hummingbirds are tiny and delicate, but don’t be fooled: They are among the most aggressive birds in the avian kingdom. Their territorial fury is especially aimed at other hummingbirds. Competition over a patch of flowers or a mate often results in high-speed aerial chases, divebombing and beak jousting.

So when Gustavo Cañas-Valle, an ornithologist and birding guide, stumbled across a cave full of hummingbirds nesting and roosting together in Ecuador’s High Andes, he could hardly believe it.

“I thought, ‘This looks like a colony,’” Mr. Cañas-Valle said. He added, “They were like bees.”

He documented 23 adult birds and four chicks, all of the subspecies Oreotrochilus chimborazo chimborazo, commonly known as the Chimborazo hillstar.

Mr. Cañas-Valle’s discovery, described in the journal Ornithology in November, may be the first documented example of hummingbirds that nested and roosted communally. It is also notable that he found the birds engaging in both these behaviors in the same space — something that even highly social species from other bird families tend not to do.

I am procrastinating working on this book chapter so instead I want to tell you all that Zotero is literally the best research assistant tool I have ever used. I did not come upon it until last year, far after I had finished my master's degree, but holy shit it would have saved my ass. It's open-source, free, and it can often import a ton of data without you doing anything. It is the perfect tool if you need to cite a bunch of different sources (especially from different formats) and have trouble keeping your resources and notes straight. I have not even fully scratched the surface of its capabilities but if you are at any level of citation/sourcing need I think its worth checking out!
