Some WIPs! I'm in the middle of re-working the drawing of Val, her eyes are wonky.

I've been getting back into things I loved when I was a bb.

The Tithe/Modern Faerie Tales series was one of my faves as a teen, but I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed re-reading it. These days I mostly read non-fiction unless it's Greek mythology.

The stories take place in areas of Jersey and NYC that I've lived/worked in all of my life, so it's easy to immerse myself in the world the author has built.

After reading hundreds of pages about faeries and glamour, my biggest gripe was that in Ironside it appears that either Holly Black or her editor forgot that New Jerseyans do not pump our own gas, lol.

I tend to hyper-focus so I've read six Holly Black books in the last 2 weeks and started contributing to the Modern Faerie Tales Wiki and also started a new wiki for The Darkest Part of the Forest. I'm already the #1 contributor to the wiki lmao. It's mostly being a stickler for grammar and accuracy of information, tbh.

It’s funny reading any of Holly’s love interests prior to Cardan and seeing just how nice they all are (messed up sure, but terribly gentle with their significant other, even prior to getting together).

And then you sit down to an author discussion and find out the reason Cardan Is Like That is because Holly kept on handing the manuscript over to reading partners, and Leigh was like ”he CAN BE MEANER. MAKE HIM MEANER” and that is absolutely hilarious, and also explains Holly’s departure from her classic love interest archetype.

I've been binge-reading Holly Black books lately. I was twelve when I read 'Tithe' for the first time... the only things I remember were the Kelpie, the Unseelie Court under the hill, and that Kaye was a changeling and allergic to iron. Somehow all of the queer characters and scary bits failed to stay with me! Unless... Anyway, felt compelled to doodle a Kaye in her Pixie skin, no glamour! I might doodle more, since I've started the Folk of the Air trilogy now too. The world building and character descriptions in her books is incredible, I want to draw all the faeries. And still kind of wish I could visit Faerie...even though it is Terrifying and I would die lmao But I've been fascinated with faeries since I was really, really little. I do know not to let them in my house and to not let them ask for shit though :'D
