I know thereās already been some hcs about Bruce Wayne going on a DC universe version of SNL but I just need to play it out for yāall
The whole bit is that this is the first time Brucie has ever taken anything so serious in his life, like the promo clip where heās awkwardly standing with the music guest and a cast mate is basically like āI went to this thing called a meeting yesterday, have you guys ever heard of those before?? Wild!!ā And Alfred makes a cameo in his opening monologue where he hands him his script on a silver platter.
But the thing that drives his family crazy is that he actually does a skit where he IS Batman. And theyāre all freaking out because like holy shit Bruce thereās walking the line and using it as a jump rope. And he wonāt elaborate on any of the specifics just that he actually pitched the idea himself.
The skit is basically just āwhat if Bruce Wayne was Batmanā and itās him trying to stop a mugging, but he immediately takes a tumble (his Instagram story hinted at stunt training and everyone had their theories, but it all being so that he could do a Buster Keaton-esque stunt is so much better). He freaks out at the sound of some warning fire and immediately surrenders despite the mugger really being equally afraid of him, and then a Villain of the Week captures him with ease, and he flirts the entire time heās being dragged away.
He fucking kills it for someone without an acting background (to most peopleās knowledge) and from that point on itās a running joke/meme for gothamites to post or talk about what Bruce Wayne Batman would do in place of regular Batman

Postal 1 dude isn't evil (and is genuinely the most morally grounded and decent person we've actually met in the Postal Universe)
From what we gather he was living a very normal life prior to going crazy, not like the other dudes who go on senseless rampages when tasked with mundane everyday things. As Promo material does state he's a well educated and mannered person so it's only realistic that this man did have a genuine job and was generating a level of income prior to his decline in mental health and moving to Paradise.
And as stated before he is well mannered in the sense of being stated a "quiet nice boy" and "voted the most likely to succeed". From what we gather this guy was the text book example of a model citizen. The only "flaw" is that he kept referring to a girl he only dated once as his girlfriend but even then that could come down his delusions along with his lack of grip on reality causing him to genuinely think she's his girlfriend orĀ the fact he's canonically quiet (as shown from the Promo material and also the fact that he doesn't actually physically speak AT ALL during the game) and most likely doesn't understand social ques as of it.
---------------------------------------
But the most important thing is that he doesn't even have malicious intentions.
The very first thing he proposes after being "attacked" by "groups of lunatics trying to invade his home" is.....go the sherrif for help. The Dude didn't have any Intention to go on a murder spree, he'd rather of just went to the authorities like any other average Joe. The whole thing really tells us that he's not usually a violent person.
Even rewinding back to level one: the war journals (and Vince) did state that the Dude was entirely convinced that he was being attacked by group of lunatics, one of which even firing rockets at him, goes without saying that self defence is really the only option here.
Course it remains solely as self defence until the Dude reaches the train station, the significance being his war journal where he writes "if I can get out i can warn everybody...YES, I CAN WARN EVERYBODY!". The dudes goal has shifted into saving the country as a whole rather than himself which ultimately steers him into going to the air force to find out what has happened to cause the supposed hate plague. The dudes actions represent him more as selfless now with him now doing this in the bigger scheme of things rather than his own self preservation. If its not clear already: maniacs wouldn't care about warning/ saving people from a hate plague, Dude 2 most likely wouldn't give a shit and let it spread since he was totally cool with nuking the entirety of paradise and its innocent civilians.
Furthermore he openly states that he doesn't want to kill people. At the trailer park he writes that "There must be others like me, immune to this...germ warfare or whatever it is". Practically he's saying that he'd much rather run into some normal people instead of having to kill them, it's a stark contrast to the other dudes with the Postal 1 dude appearing as genuinely empathetic whereas the others will literally kill people for something as simple as waiting in line and afterwards not think anything of it.
Also very worth noting that when he enters the ghetto he mentions he's genuinely worried he'll get mugged, we're really getting the picture that he's literally just some normal ass guy with the idea of going to the rough side of town shakes him up.
(Even worth pointing out that only for the ghetto does he go back to calling it a diary like he's momentarily lost his soldier/war mentality at the thought of going into the rough side of town).
---------------------------------------
So simple and short:
Postal 1 dudes literally just some average everyday guy (who's been through some really fucked up shit that's forever gonna remain unexplained beyond the veteran theory) who's trying to do the right thing but he's woefully misguided due to his deteriorating mental state as well as being possessed by an entity beyond his broken minds comprehension.
He's literally the complete opposite to every other postal dude (and if anything he's one of the most morally grounded people in the franchise as crazy as it is)
Oh and if this wasn't enough: rws did say on a twitter post that he's literally Just some average guy who's had some shitty days.
(I wrote this at 4am so soz if it's all over the place)

1989 Timeline
This is a very long post that puts all the songs on 1989 in order of Taylor creating them. Iāve also included a few other songs she worked on while writing 1989 and quotes from Taylor and her collaborators talking about her process
Of all the albums in Taylor's discography, I think this is the one that improves the most when you listen to it in order. All of those things Taylor was talking about in the promo for this album-- how this is an album of her coming into her own, figuring out her values, learning to stand on her own two feet-- it all clicks into place. Listening to it in order has made me cry on more than one occasion, and it's also the thing that made me start this whole crazy process of figuring out the dates she wrote each song.
If you don't want to read the whole post, check out this playlist of the album in order or this playlist of her entire discography.
Iāve also added this color coded scale of how sure I am of the date:Ā
Confirmed: There is some type of official source for the date
Inferring: Nobody has officially saidĀ āThis is when we wrote it,ā but all available evidence points to that date
Speculation: This date is based on guesswork and is highly likely to change, or, all that is known is the general season.
Unknown: All that is known is the year (from the US Copyright Offices)
Without further ado...
Oct 6, 2012: Taylor seems to have been in a studio in London (Note: I have no idea where this photo comes from and I can not find a place that specifies if this is a music studio or radio interview.)
This Love: Oct 17, 2012 (Confirmed)
October 19, 2012: Taylor mentions wanting to work with Imogen Heap, prompting Imogen to get in touch with Taylor
Time Interview: Whoād be your dream collaboration, especially now that youāre taking more musical risks? Let me think. Imogen Heap! Sheās amazing. Taylor: Someone asked me in an interview "Who would you like to work with?" and I said Imogen Heap. I get an email to my management, sent like "Imogen just saw that Taylor just said an interview that she would like to work together" She said "Why don't you come out to my studio." Imogen: I got a phone call [in 2014] saying Taylor Swift was in London, she'd love to work with me and the only date she could do (between 4 sold out 02 arenas!) was the day after we got back, Sunday. It was both unexpected and not at the same time as I'd heard Taylor was a fan a while back via this Time magazine piece but somehow didn't think it would actually happen.
Fall 2012: Taylor possibly writes a song with Harry Styles and Jacknife Lee (her producer for The Last Time).
Jacknife Lee: āIt was out of my field of expertise and interest, but I was intrigued and my girls were thrilled. Taylor was nice and very professional. She knew what she wanted and there was no fucking about. She was seeing Harry Styles at the time, so he came to Topanga on her recommendation.Ā She wrote a few songs with him, and it was the same thing ā quick. But this time it was more directed by the management and label. They were after something specific. I wanted more acoustic and gentle, almost Americana, and they wanted bombast. They got what they wanted, and that was the extent of my foray into teen-pop territory. It was fun.ā
All You Had to Do Was Stay: Jan 10, 2013 (Confirmed)
Taylor is photographed outside Conway, and then tweets "Back in the studio. Uh oh..." Later, Taylor confirmed that she was recording All You Had To Do Was Stay. Taylor: I had a dream that my ex showed up at my door, knocked at my door, and I opened it up, and I was about ready to launch into the perfect thing to say [...], Instead, all that would come out of my mouth was that high-pitched chorus of people singing, 'Stay!'...and then you go to say something else, and it's just like 'Stay! Stay! Stay!' And I woke up, I was like 'Oh, that was mortifying. But that's kind of a cool vocal part.'
January 11, 2013: Taylor is photographed outside Conway again
How You Get The Girl: Jan 15, 2013 (Confirmed)
Taylor posts a picture of her playing a guitar in the studio, captioned "Somewhere in LA..". Later, Taylor confirmed that she was recording How You Get The Girl. Given what was going on in her personal life, she likely wrote this sometime in the fall/winter of 2012, but all we know for sure is the date she recorded it.
February 9, 2013: Tweets "Grammy rehearsals last night, studio today, who knows what tonight holds! (I do. Laying around watching TV and eating candy.)"
March 6, 2013: Taylor is photographed outside a studio in LA
March 23, 2013: Posts a picture of her playing guitar captioned "Pre show. Columbia, South Carolina"
I Wish You Would: May 28, 2013 (Inferring)
Taylor is photographed out for lunch in Rhode Island with Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff on May 27, before leaving for her show in Phoenix, Arizona the next day Taylor: "Max Martin and [Karl Johan] Shellback [Schuster] were the last people I collaborated with on [2012 album] Red, and I wished we could have done more and explored more. So going into this album, I knew that I wanted to start with them again. Then I thought, āWouldnāt it be amazing to work with Ryan Tedder?ā And then I was with Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham at the beach, and we started talking about our favorite ā80s music. All of this started happening organically, and I found myself gravitating toward pop sensibilities, pop hooks, pop production styles." Jack: Ā "We were hanging out at her house in Rhode Island and we were talking about John Hughes movies, and a lot of the music that inspired [them], and just this general culture of sound in that time period that was really larger-than-life in an anthemic, positive way. These songs could be at the end of films that were really, really beautiful and said a lot. That actually ended up being a song called 'I Wish You Would' which is going to be on her album. We first worked on that song together and realized we kind of have a good thing. Taylor: āThis is a song I did withĀ Jack Antonoff, and Jack is one of my friends and so we were hanging out and he pulled out his phone and goes "I made this amazing track the other day. It's so cool, I love these guitar sounds." And he played it for me and immediately I could hear this finished song in my head, and I just said "Please, please let me have that. Let me play with it, like send it to me" And so he sent it to me and I was on tour and this was me playing the track on my laptop recording me singing the vocal into my phone and it ended up being a song called "I Wish You Would", because Jack wrote back and said "I love that".ā
June 7, 2013: At the CMA fest, Taylor is asked if she's started writing for her next album yet
āIt's starting, all the anxiety is starting and when the anxiety starts, then the writing happens right afterward, usually. Um, so, yeah, I basically... I like to, I like to write for about two years before I'm finished with an album because I... at this point I kind of know that whenever I write in the first year is going to get thrown away, because, I'm going to like it, but it's going to sound a little bit like the last project I had, and the second year usually ends up sounding like the next project. So I think at this point, at this point I feel like staying the same is the easy way to go but it's not the way that I want to go, creatively. I think you need to challenge yourself, I think you need to change up your influences, I think you need to be inspired by different things that you've been inspired by before, and, uh, y'know, It's harder to call people you don't know, and it's harder to think of topics you haven't covered and think of new ways to say old emotions that everyone feels, but, that's the goal at this point."
June 20-21, 2013: Taylor and Selena Gomez hang out, and Taylor potentially writes Wildest Dreams.
July 15, 2013: Taylor gives a brief interview to Rolling Stone
āThe floodgates just opened the last couple weeks,ā she says of the songwriting process. āIām getting to that point where Iām irritating to be around because Iāll be with you for half the conversation and then the second half of the conversation Iām clearly editing the second verse of whatever Iām writing in my head.ā āIĀ reallyĀ loved collaborating [on Red],ā she says. āYou work with a lot of different people and you find the people you have this dream connection with in the studio. I know those people and I know the ones I want to go back to. But I also have a really long list of the people I admire and I would really love to go and contact. So thatās kind of where that is.ā āI think that the idea of having a different approach to every single one of my albums is so exciting to me. I never want to make the same record twice. Why do it? Whatās the point? Itās so overwhelming that when youāre starting a project there are such endless possibilities if youāre willing to evolve and experiment. If youāre willing to become a different version of yourself, you can really go anywhere with it. And thatās kind of where I am. The kind of the laboratory experimental stage of really catching onto a new thing that Iām liking.ā
July 18, 2013: Taylor unfollows the three backup dancers that left her tour for Katy's, meaning Bad Blood was likely written sometime between July and November 2013.
Sweeter Than Fiction: Summer 2013 (Speculation)
Taylor wrote this one over email, and then it was recorded in New York (partially in Jack's living room, partially in an actual studio)
August 25, 2013: Taylor and Selena Gomez hang out at the VMAs, and Taylor potentially writes Wildest Dreams.
August 25, 2013: Taylor gives a brief interview on the VMAs red carpet
"But I think [songwriting is] about to start to kick into full gear. I'm about to go into the studio. It's about to get really intense."
Out Of The Woods: September 14 2013 (Inferring)
On September 14, Fun cancelled their show. Taylor was likely either flying to or from Charlottesville, where she had a show for the Red Tour. Jack: "When I did the track for Out of the Woods, which is a Taylor song that I'm really proud of, there was some issue at a venue and our show was canceled that night and I didn't have my stuff, I had left it on the bus, so I only had these old samples on what was on my laptop, and caught up that 'oh oh'' thing, and I only had one drum kit on there, and these dumb little things [sometimes turn into a great song]" Jack: "So 'Out Of The Woods' was the third thing we worked on together, and probably the easiest. I sent her the track for it, and she sent back a voice note with the verse and chorus in what felt like five seconds. And it was just perfect. It's eerie how similar it is to what the final product is." Taylor: "This is a track that Jack Antonoff sent me, and I was actually on a plane, I got it and I got on a plane and I'm listening to it, and I'm just like listening to it and mumbling melodies cause the song came to me immediately like, in full [...] I think what I should start by playing you, is when I got the track, what I sent him like an hour later, and it is, me.. um, me singing what came to me, which ended up being the finished version of the song, or at least really close to it."
September 20, 2013: In a brief interview with USA Today, Taylor says she plans to work on her next album between the next few legs of the Red Tour
"Iāll be in the studio, figuring out what comes next. I really like to take two years to make a record, and Iāve been writing and doing stuff for the last year. This is kind of the year that it goes into overdrive, and itās all I think about and I become obsessive over it and Iām hard to talk to"
September 22, 2013: Taylor gives an interview to New York Magazine where she talks about her plans for TS5
These days, Swift is thinking a lot about her next record. While on the Red tour, sheād been writing songs and stockpiling ideas: reams of lyrics, thousands of voice memos in her iPhone [...] she plans to spend much of 2014 writing and recording the new album, a prospect she finds exhilarating and terrifying. āI worry about everything. Some days I wake up in a mind-set of, like, āOkay, itās been a good run.ā By afternoon, I could have a change of mood and feel like anything is possible and I canāt wait to make this kind of music Iāve never made before. And then by evening, I could be terrified of the whole thing again. And then at night, Iāll write a song before bed.ā Swift hopes to collaborate with new songwriters and producers. But she planned to begin, she said, by heading back into the studio with Max Martin and Shellback. āI want to go in with Max and Johan first, just to figure out what the bone structure of this record is going to be. āI have a lot of things to draw from emotionally at the moment. But I have to draw from them with a different perspective than on Red. I canāt say the same things over and over, you know? I mean, I think itās just all the more important that I donāt ever allow myself to coast. At the same time, thereās a mistake that I see artists make when theyāre on their fourth or fifth record, and they think innovation is more important than solid songwriting. The most terrible letdown as a listener for me is when Iām listening to a song and I see what they were trying to do. Like, where thereās a dance break that doesnāt make any sense, thereās a rap that shouldnāt be there, thereās like a beat change thatās, like, the coolest, hippest thing this six monthsābut it has nothing to do with the feeling, it has nothing to do with the emotion, it has nothing to do with the lyric. I never want to put things in songs just because that might make them popular, like, on the more rhythmic stations or in dance clubs. I really donāt want a compilation of sounds. I just need them to be songs.ā
September 28-October 5, 2013: Taylor and Selena Gomez are in the same city, and Taylor potentially writes Wildest Dreams.
October 12, 2013: Taylor gives an interview to the Associated Press
Swift: I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice [...] How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that Iāve never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that Iāve never explored before? Itās my fifth album, which is crazy to think about, but I think what Iām noticing about it so far is itās definitely taking a different turn than anything Iāve done before. AP: You said recently youāve been working on songs for the new album for about six months. What can you tell us about what you have planned? Swift: Itās too early to tell who are going to be my predominant collaborators, but I do know that my absolute dream collaborators were Shellback and Max Martin on the last project. Iāve never been so challenged as a songwriter. Iāve never learned so much. Iāve never just been so excited to show up to the studio every day, just because you never know what weāre going to put together. Iāll bring in ideas and theyāll take such a different turn than where I thought they were going to go, and that level of unexpected spontaneity is something that really thrills me in the process of making music. ... What if we did this? What if we made it weirder? What if we took it darker? I love people who have endless strange and exciting ideas about where music can go."
October 14, 2013: At the NSAI, Taylor talks about reinventing herself for different albums
"Iām making my 5th record now, so I think you have to change things up, you have to explore different corners of music as much as you can. Cause I really, itās been a big goal of mine to never make two albums that sounded the same. I really want my fans to be able to be like "Oh that song? Clearly that's from the Fearless album", "No that one, that one was from Red" and so Iām in the process of doing that thing all over again for my 5th album and itās amazing to be in the studio and to be songwriting again, and be honored for songwriting tonight"
Blank Space: October 26, 2013 (Inferring)
It looks like sheās wearing the same outfit in this behind the scenes footage and these candids Taylor: "I was going into write with Max Martin and Shellback, who are two of the primary collaborators on 1989, and I... was preparing all these things, and I, I think Blank Space was like the third thing I played them, and they just stopped and they were like "NO, this is the first thing we're working on today." [...] I had the idea for the chorus and I had the hook, but a lot of the verse was gibberish." Taylor (On what song took her the least amount of time to write): "Blank space, cause I'd written a lot of the lines down already in the year preceding the session"
October 29, 2013: Tweets "Sitting in the studio writing the next album (!!!!) and wanted to thank you for the American Music Award nominations!"
November 1 : While promoting Keds, Taylor is asked about her next album
"What I go through is going to be the story that I tell. I think lyrically, I always try to tell my fans exactly whatās happened to me in the last two years, and thatās the thing they can expect. Everything else, they wonāt be able to expect. Having been in the studio with this one, Iām just likeā¦ oh, this is going to be fun"
Bad Blood: Fall 2013 (Speculation)
The backup dancer drama seems to have kicked off in mid-July. Given that it's produced by Max Martin and Shellback, and Taylor was in the studio with them pretty much non-stop from October-November, we can assume that it was recorded sometime in the Fall of 2013
New Romantics: Fall 2013 (Speculation)
Unfortunately, Taylor doesn't really talk about this song. Given that it's produced by Max Martin and Shellback, and Taylor was in the studio with them pretty much non-stop from October-November, we can assume that it was recorded sometime in the Fall of 2013
Wildest Dreams: Fall 2013 (Speculation)
Selena reportedly told a fan she was there when Taylor wrote this, and I've noted above all the times Selena could have been with Taylor in 2013 (Here's my personal ranking of how likely each date is). Given that it's produced by Max Martin and Shellback, and Taylor was in the studio with them pretty much non-stop from October-November, we can assume that it was recorded sometime in the Fall of 2013.
Wonderland: Fall 2013 (Speculation)
Another one Taylor just doesn't talk about all that often. Given that it's produced by Max Martin and Shellback, and Taylor was in the studio with them pretty much non-stop from October-November, we can assume that it was recorded sometime in the Fall of 2013
Nov 20, 2013: Taylor posted "While in the studio, I came to the realization that my bangs are long enough to use as a sleep mask onĀ long flights. Then I remembered I don't ever use sleep masks on flights. So really, I just need a haircut"
November 25, 2013: Taylor and Scott Borchetta have a meeting to talk about her plans for TS5 and are both asked about the next album at the AMAs
Taylor: āWe got a lot already. There are probably seven or eight [songs] that I know I want on the record. Itās really ahead of schedule for me. Iām just stoked because itās already evolved into a new sound, and thatās all I wanted. And I would have taken two years to make that happen, but it just kind of happened naturally, so thatās all I could really ask for.ā Scott Borchetta: "Well earlier today we got together and she played me seven new songs, and sheās just on fire. The level of desire and passion that she has just to keep getting better, sheās an artist that just really never wants to just say āWell okay this is good enoughā. Itās always gotta be better. Sheās in amazing creative place right now." By the end of November, Taylor had likely recorded This Love, All You Had To Do Was Stay, How You Get The Girl, I Wish You Would, Out Of The Woods, Blank Space, Bad Blood, New Romantics, Wildest Dreams, and Wonderland. Thatās 10 songs total, 5 of which were likely recorded in the past two months, and 7 that had been made since Taylor and Jack had their conversation about 80s music in May.
Dec 21, 2013: Taylor briefly talks to Billboard about TS5
"Iām really loving collaboration right now [...] I see it as a bit of an apprenticeship. I want to be around people who love writing songs and have done it for years. Every time Iām in a studio Iām learning, like how to build a drum track, and getting a new perspective on things. Itās so thrilling to keep learning on your fifth album. As soon as [an album] comes out Iām figuring out what the next one will be. Itās gotten to the point where each one is a reinvention, which is what I like best. I like it when it sounds new and people donāt know where youāre going to go next."
Say Don't Go: Jan 1, 2014 (Confirmed)
Diane Warren: Warren, who typically writes on her own, says the two of them āsat down and wrote the song [ā¦] from scratchā during the last few days of 2013. She remembers being impressed with how specific Swift was with her lyricism and how considerate she was about how her fans might receive it. āShe was very particular about how she said certain things. It was a really interesting experience. She gets her audience [...] Sheās deeply aware of how her fans want to hear something. I canāt explain it, but thatās probably why sheās the biggest fucking star in the world.ā Several days after writing the song together, they got into Warrenās office to record a demo, where Swift played it on her acoustic guitar. āWe demoed it on New Yearās Day. And Iām a workaholic, and thatās fine for me,ā she says. āBut I remember being impressed that she did, too. Everybodyās on vacation, but she showed up.ā
You Are In Love: Jan 2014 (Inferring)
This song is copyrighted for 2014. Taylor has said a few times that Clean, Shake It Off, and Style were the last songs written for the album, meaning You Are In Love was likely completed in January or early February. Given Taylor's busy schedule in late January and early February, I'd guess this was written at some point in early January. Furthermore, I'd guess it was sometime after the 9th, when she returned from looking at house in New York.
I Know Places: Jan 22, 2014 (Confirmed)
Taylor: "I sent this voice memo toĀ Ryan TedderĀ because I'd always wanted to work with him, and finally we scheduled some studio time. So I always wanna be prepared, I wanted to send him the idea that I was working on before we went into the studio just in case he wrote back and said "I can't stand that, I wanna work on something else, think of something else" So I just sat down with the piano, put my phone on top of the piano and just kind of explained to him where I wanted to go with the song, how I saw the melody sitting in and we ended up recording the song the next day and it ended up being on the record called "I Know Places" So this was the voice memo that I sent to him the night before we ended up finishing the song"
Welcome To New York: Jan 23, 2014 (Confirmed)
Ryan Tedder: "I thought we were going to walk in and start something from scratch because that's what I was used to. Then she calls me and says, 'Is it cool if I already have an idea?' I said, 'Sure.' She said, 'I have this song, I'm obsessed with New York and I just moved there, I want to write an ode to New York because no one's done it in a long time.' And then she sent me a voice memo. She's like, 'I want it to sound like 1980s.' So the next day I brought in a Juno-106, which is a very 1980s keyboard and I literally programmed that entire song right in front of her. It was very much on the fly, and that song was done in about three hours. And I did the rest of the production I think later that week. I was in Switzerland on a tour bus, and I did four versions of 'Welcome to New York,' one of which I liked personally more, but the thing about artists is they become very obsessed with the demo. She was in love with the demo so no matter how hard I fought, she brought it back to the demo, so really what you hear is what I did on the first day."
January 26 2014: Dianne Warren says that she recently wrote a song with Taylor
"I worked with Taylor Swift on a great song [...] I'm excited about the [song] that we did, it's pretty cool Dianne in 2016: āI know [Swift] likes it, so hopefully it will see the light of day. I know she really likes the song. She didnāt want me to give it away, so hopefully that means she wants it.ā
January 26 2014: Taylor loses Album of the Year at the Grammy's to Daft Punk. She tells a few different stories about what the rest of the night looked like for her-- in some she goes home alone, in some she has some friends over-- but in all of them, this is the night where she decides that she's gonna name the album 1989, and she's not going to let her label tell her to put any country songs on it.
Clean: Feb 9, 2014 (Confirmed)
According to Imogen Heap's blog post, Taylor had the first verse and chorus by the time they got into the studio, and then wrote the second verse and bridge during the session. Taylor's part was wrapped up in 9 hours, ending at 8pm, while Imogen stayed up until 4am because she didn't want to stop working on it. Taylor: ""Shake It Off" and "Clean" were the last two things we wrote for the record, so it shows you where I ended up mentally. āCleanā I wrote as I was walking out of Liberty in London. Someone I used to dateā it hit me that Iād been in the same city as him for two weeks and I hadnāt thought about it. When it did hit me, it was like, āOh, I hope heās doing wellā. And nothing else. [...] The first thought that came to my mind was ā Iām finally clean." Imogen Heap: I was really writing the tiniest amount just to help her do what she does. I put some noises to [āCleanā], played various instruments on it, including drums, and anytime she expressed she liked something I was doing, I did itĀ more. It was a really fun day. She recorded all her vocals [for āCleanā] during that one session. She did two takes, and the second take was it. We always thought she would probably re-record it, because we thought it canāt possibly be that easy. But after we lived with it for a few months, we felt it was great.
February 15, 2014: Taylor posts "It was a studio Valentines Day with Max and Johan!"
Shake It Off: Feb 15, 2014 (Confirmed)
Lover Diaries (From Feb 22): "This week Iāve been in the studio with Max and Johan every day and it has been the most creatively successful and fulfilling time. The first day, Johan just made a really up tempo drum beat because we decided we needed something UP and light. We worked at it for a few hours before I just started singing āshake it off, shake it off.ā And then the best way I know how to describe it is that the chorus just fell out of the sky. It ended up being this song about doing your own thing even though haters are gonna hate, and you just have to dance to your own beat. We all went home and I wrote the first and second verses and brought them in the next day. We wrote this chanty cheer leader bridge that I absolutely LOVE. We spent all day doing vocals and the next day recording background vocals. I think itāll end up being the first single and Max said itās his favorite song heās ever been a part of." Taylor: "The problem was, I had all these lyrics, and I didnt have, like... writing session was coming up and I'm just like "I'm not getting a melody, I'm dead, I don't know what I'm gonna do." The thought terrified me, so I just sorta sulked into the studio and I was like "Guys, I have like an idea but its like, lyric, but I... and I know the vibe I want-- I want it to start off and the second the song starts, I want it to be the song where like, if it's played at a wedding, and there's this one girl who hasn't danced all night at the reception, all her friends come over to her and there like "You have to dance, come on, you have to dance on this one!". That's what I wanted. So I was like "Shellback, can you just go to the drum kit and try to play that?" Taylor: "There's one thing that I've always said to Max, is like "I don't like horns" I just always had a thing about it, I was always like weirdly scared of it, or intimidated by horns, I don't know what it was? It's a weird, like, nerdy studio fear of mine. I was like "No, no horns!" and I don't.. I don't even know, I don't have a reason for it, I love songs that have horns on them, I was just like "I don't think I can pull off horns." Strange. But, he goes over to the mellotron and he starts playing this horn sound. I'm like "What are you doing. Don't do that." and he's like, "No, I think this is cool" and I'm like "No it's not cool, and where are your chorus chords, because, that, you're just playing three chords over and over again and I can't make a chorus out of them, why don't you go to like a chorus chord that starts off the chorus, where is the one, like why don't you go--" and then there was this moment, where I thought of the whole chorus, and it's over the chords that I had just told him are not "chorus chords", which is a ridiculous thing to say."
February 18, 2014: Taylor is photographed entering Conway Studios
Style: Feb 19, 2014 (Confirmed)
Niklas LjungfeltĀ (guitarist): I played on āStyle,ā a song I started with Ali Payami for ourselves. He was playing it for Max Martin at his studio; Taylor overheard it and loved it. She and Max wrote new lyrics. But I recorded the guitar on it before it was a Taylor song. It was an instrumental. I didnāt have a clue that Taylor would sing on it. The inspiration came from Daft Punk and funky electronic music. Taylor: I'm pretty sure after we finished this one I knew the record was done. Shake It Off and Style were the last two songs to be written for 1989.
March 2014: Taylor's interview with Glamour is published (likely conducted two months beforehand)
TS: Working on this album has been unbelievable [...] I'm already in love with it. It's so different. CL: What's the new sound? TS: On Red I did three songs with Max Martin Shellback [...] I think we'll be doing a lot more than three songs together on the next album [Laughs].
March 26, 2014: Taylor is photographed entering a music studio in New York
"Slut!": 2014 (Unknown)
Taylor: The song āSlut!ā is a song we wrote forĀ 1989Ā and in it, I kind of cheekily play on the discussions at that time of my life around my dating life. And thatās not the only time onĀ 1989Ā that Iād done that, Iāve done that onĀ āBlank SpaceāĀ and when I came down to having to pick songs for the album, I think I though, āOkay, well, Iām going to choose āBlank Spaceāā and, unfortunately, had to make some tough decisions in terms of what to put on the tracklist. But I love this song because I think itās really dreamy. And I always sawĀ 1989Ā as a New York album, but this song, to me, was always California, and maybe that was another reason it didnāt make the cut, because sometimes, thematically, I just had these little weird rules in my head. But Iām so happy itās finally going to be something you guys hear, because I have always been proud of it, Iāve always wanted it to come out into the world and now it is, so yay!
Suburban Legends: 2014 (Unknown)
Taylor hasn't talked about this song, and it was produced by Jack Antonoff, who she didn't schedule time in the studio with in the same way she did with Max Martin and Shellback, so there's not a lot to work with.
Is It Over Now?: 2014 (Unknown)
Similarly to Suburban Legends, Jack produced this, so there's no obvious point in time to point to. She has spoken briefly about it though. Taylor: āIs It Over Nowā is a song I wanted to end the album with because I think itās kind of a fun play on words of like, āIs the album over now?ā I always saw this song as sort of a sister toĀ āOut Of The WoodsāĀ andĀ āI Wish You Would,āĀ I kind of saw those songs as similar, so, unfortunately, when we were making these decisions of what to put onĀ 1989Ā and what to leave behind, I had to make some tough choices, and now it doesnāt matter anymore because you guys are going to hear all the songs. Iām so happy this song is out. I really love the āletās fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later,ā that session, I just feel like head banging to every time it comes on. Hope you agree.
May 30, 2014: Taylor writes in her diary:
So a crazy story unfolded in the last 24 hours. Last night, I had this vivid dream where the photo Iād chosen for the album cover wasnāt good enough, intriguing enough, artful enough. It woke me up. I couldnāt shake it and it stayed with me all day. Because that nagging feeling Iād been pushing back for weeks was now confirmed in my gut ā¦ It wasnāt good enough. I went to the venue, mind racing, wondering if Iād have to do an entirely new photo shoot ā¦ I got to my dressing room with newer versions of the ācover.ā I looked at it and felt nothing. The team pulled up this new scanned file of the Polaroids we had taken during the shoot. I saw within 10 seconds. The shot. The cover. Itās a Polaroid of me sitting against a beige wall with a blue seagull swear shirt on. You can see my red lips, but the photo cuts off my eyes. From some reason unknown to me, itās the most intriguing photo Iāve seen. I think itās the mystery of not seeing my eyes. Maybe it just looks effortlessly cool. The craziest moment came when something caught my eye. The cover photo is photo 13. I kid you not.
August 23, 2014: Taylor is photographed walking out of a studio in LA (Note: I can not find a place that specifies if this is a recording studio, dance, photography, radio, or television studio.)
Now That We Don't Talk: Summer 2014 (Speculation)
Seeing as Taylor said she didn't have time to figure out the production, I imagine this came fairly late in the process. Taylor has a habit of adding songs right up to the deadline-- with Folklore and Evermore, she added multiple songs a week before the album came out. The latest she added songs to albums while signed to Big Machine was September, though (both Forever & Always and So It Goes...), so I assume that's the absolute latest she could've added a song to 1989. Taylor: "Now That We Donāt Talkā is one of my favorite songs that was left behind, it was so hard to leave it behind, but I think we wrote it a little bit towards the end of the process and we couldnāt get the production right at the time. But we had tons of time to perfect the production this time and figure out what we wanted this song to sound like. I think itās the shortest song Iāve ever had, but I think it packs a punch, I think it really goes in. For the short amount of time we have, I think it makes its point.

Chaotic Collaborations
Synopsis: The whirlwind of two polar opposites, a story line and unmistakable tensions in between
Warnings: pining, cursing, injury, depictions of blood, protective!hook, jealous!hook, angst, fluff eventually
A/N: welllll after who knows how long Iāve finally managed to conjure up the sunshine!reader x coldhearted hook fic! This was actually so fun to write I got carried away and it takes a drastic turn lmao I hope you love it babesss, enjoy!
(Takes place during the Hook and Jack rivalry)
(Also this shit is extremely long and Iām finishing it at 2am so bare with me if thereās grammatical errors, Iām sleepy lmao)
You were originally ecstatic over the shot at your very first story line when Tony pitched the idea to you. Youād been in AEW for a little over a year and had been hoping that youād get a little more substantial tv time outside of your typical matches sometime soon, so when Tony called you to his office with an idea that was brought up to him, you couldnāt agree quick enough.
That was until the person youād be doing the storyline with walked through the door.
The coldhearted handsome devil, as he frequently gets called. Someone you were somewhat familiar with due to seeing his matches in the viewing room from time to time, or him sitting alone in catering every so often, typically with a hatred look towards the whole world on his face.
A man you never considered approaching for the simple fact that he gave the impression that he was not to be fucked with, or even smiled at, for that matter. He was the last person youād expected Tony to bring in.
āHook, glad youāre here again. I know weāve already been over this but now that we have your future partner here, I wanted to give you both the rundown. Have a seat.ā Tony points to the chair next to you. He steps in, a hoodie over his head shadowing his eyes that glance at you before he silently takes a seat.
He brought a sudden energy to the room with his presence, one that made you feel a tad bit uneasy. Intimidated, more so.
āY/N, Hook is who Iām pairing you with for this storyline. Itās come to my attention that the two of you are both crowd favorites and apparently a lot of fans want to see you two together. It would be great for the ratings and for both of your character developments.ā
You nodded along, wanting to look over at the man next to you to see what he thought of this, though you kept your eyes on Tony. You knew that fans liked to talk about how you and some of the talent should pair up together, and there were a lot of edits on instagram of you and certain wrestlers that they shipped, but Hook was the least of your expectations.
āIāll be putting you both in a group chat where Iāll send you segment and promo schedules and concepts, so keep your eyes out for that. Next week, during your match with Anna, Jack Perry is going to come out with the FTW title and hand it to her, and thatās when Hook will be coming out after him. The fans will think itās all part of their feud until he comes to your aid when Anna hits you with the title while Jack and Hook are fighting on the ramp. Thatās going to be the start of the entire storyline leading up to a tagteam match between the four of you.ā
You listened intently, not wanting to miss a beat of the instruction. The storyline made a lot of sense since you and Anna did have some on screen animosity to begin with, and hook and jack have been at each others throats for some time now, so you could see the relevance to having Hook as your alliance.
āIāll be sending you both a text soon on more details.ā Tony said before he excused you both from his office. Hook silently got out of his chair and headed through the door without sparing you a glance. You werenāt sure if that meant that he was displeased about the storyline or if he just collected the information and went on his way.
You decided to try to talk to him when you both got into the hallway, but quickly wished you wouldāve let him keep walking.
āHey!ā You jog up to him, reaching his side. He glanced over at you for a split second before he fixated his sights ahead. He didnāt greet you back, and that alone made you feel a little uneasy, but you still attempted to make conversation.
āI know weāve never talked before, but since weāre about to do this whole storyline together, I guess I should introduce myself and all.ā You managed a nervous chuckle, but he kept a straight face.
āIām Y/N.ā You continued on, feeling your nerves start to get the better of you, which is when you start rambling, usually.
āI mean, obviously you know that now since Tony said it, but, anyway, i just wanted to break the ice a little. This is all pretty new to me. Iāve never done a story line before so-ā
Thatās when Hook stops in his tracks, turning to face you. His stare was cold and jaw set. He showed no emotion, nothing at all, really. The way he looked straight into your eyes made you immediately shy away from that gaze. Your eyes dropped to the gold cross sitting over his chest similar to the one you had tucked underneath your shirt that you wore as a good luck charm.
You wanted to pull it out and show him that you had one too but something told you he wouldnāt care about that at all.
You glanced back up into his eyes, the ones that were strongly fixated on you, managing to push past the nervousness he made you feel until you heard him say, āLetās save the talking for the scripts.ā
He held his eyes on you for a second longer before he turned on his heel and headed down the hallway. You didnāt bother to follow. It was clear that Hook didnāt care to make conversation with you, and he wanted to make sure you understood that.
āāā
You were sitting in catering with Skye and Willow, oblivious to their conversation due to the thoughts that kept swirling around in your brain. It had been a week since that very first interaction with Hook and tonight you were going to be starting the whole storyline.
Skye noticed how you barely paid attention to the conversation and decided to ask you what was going on. You had yet to tell them about the storyline since talking to Hook, or attempting to, didnāt go over so well.
āWhatās going on with you?ā Skyeās voice reached you, snapping you out of your thoughts.
You couldāve said it was nothing to save yourself the conversation but they were going to know about the whole storyline tonight, so you decided to spill it all.
āTonyās giving me my first storyline.ā You say, watching as a smile spreads across both of their faces before the confusion sets in.
āYou donāt seem too excited?ā Willow commented.
āI mean, I am, butā¦ Well, okay, so you know how Hook and Jack Perry have that whole rivalry going on right now?ā
The girls nod slowly, clearly they were still a bit confused.
āAnd me and Anna have a match tonight, so Jackās going to come out and hand her the FTW title so she can knock my ass out with it,-ā
āSo then Hook is going to come out to save you.ā Skye figured. āSo is it like, an on screen dating kind of thing?ā
āI donāt think so. Tony said weāll end up teaming up against them, so Iām pretty sure itās just alliances.ā
Willowās lips spread into a smirk before she looked down.
āAre you nervous about it or something? Youāre the one who said you wished youād get your shot at a story line and now youāre talking like you donāt want to do it.ā Skye said, but you hardly heard her when the man whoļæ½ļæ½ļæ½s been racing through your mind came walking through the catering doors.
Willow noticed your eyes immediately finding him, following him as he headed around the perimeter of the room to take his seat in the very back.
āI think sheās nervous.ā Willow grinned, clearly with insinuation but thatās when you quickly tore your eyes away from the man in question and back to them.
āNo, itās the fact that I tried to talk to him after we left Tonyās office, yāknow, introduce myself and break the ice since weāre going to be working together, and he literally looked me dead in my face and told me to save the talking for the scripts.ā
Both of their jawās dropped and Willowās eyes cut over to the man, shooting him a look he didnāt see since he was on his phone.
āThatās fucking rude.ā She said.
āYeah, and we havenāt spoke since.ā
āI mean, he kind of does look like that type of guy. Heās always by himself, always looks like someone pissed in his cheerios, maybe heās just a dick. Iād just stick to the storyline and donāt bother with him outside of that if heās going to have that kind of an attitude.ā Skye says before she grabs her phone and stands up from the table.
āAnyway, I gotta go. Iāll be watching your match from the viewing room tonight though. Youāre gonna do amazing.ā She smiles before she heads out, leaving you and willow at the table.
āI agree with Skye. Just try to enjoy your first storyline despite his negative attitude.ā
You nodded, then your eyes adverted over to the back of the room, for some reason you felt strongly compelled to steal a glance of him, only to find his eyes locked on you.
You felt your stomach twist suddenly and looked away immediately, but you could still feel the powerful gaze he possessed burning a hole through you, and you werenāt sure if that meant you should look back again, maybe try to go talk to him, or leave the room all together.
āOh my God, heās staring at me. Donāt you fucking look, Willow. Donāt make it obvious.ā
Willow didnāt, but it was clear she wanted to. You could practically feel his dark eyes on you from way across the room, and you couldnāt help the way it made the pace of your heart quicken, out of the sheer nervousness that his presence hasnāt failed to make you feel.
āHeās leaving now.ā Willow whispered as her eyes followed him around the room before she dropped them to the table. āHeās gone.ā
āāāā
You couldnāt help but to be nervous but you attempted to put it all aside as you clutched you ribs, lying on the canvas after Anna kicked into your side, probably a little harder than she should have. You knew what was coming as soon as Jackās music hit and he came running down the ramp with the FTW title in hand.
You grabbed Annaās feet before she could reach him, swiftly making her fall flat against the canvas in an attempt to protect yourself from the inevitable. Thatās when Hookās music hit and a sudden pop from the crowd made your ears ring.
He didnāt run down the ramp like Jack did, but it took him only a few seconds to get his hands on the man. Hook snatched the title and threw it to the floor before he threw a series of punches to Jackās chest, while you and Anna were throwing punches to each otherās jaws. She was hitting you with a force that felt a little more personal than just entertainment purposes. You wondered if she meant that or not.
She grabbed your wrist and slung you against the turnbuckles, hitting your back so hard you sprung foward and fell to your knees. It was all planned, but you were taking one hell of a beating.
Thatās when Hook and Jack had the referee distracted enough for Anna to grab the belt. Just as you were getting on your feet, you felt the impact against the side of your head knocking you down flat, staring up at the bright lights of the arena as she pinned you.
The three count came fast and her music rang through your ears. You laid there like you were dazed and confused and thankfully she didnāt actually hit you with it too hard. You had a little pain but nothing like it wouldāve been if she wouldāve intended to knock you out cold.
The crowd was booing jack and Anna both, but they roared with cheers when Hook slid under the ropes. You felt a warm hand sneak beneath your shoulder before he helped you sit up. There was no script to go off of so you werenāt sure if anything shouldāve been said, but nobody wouldāve heard over the thousands of screams piercing your ears.
Taz was on commentary hyping the interaction up for the added affect of the viewers watching on tv.
āI donāt know when those two became friends, but Iāll tell you one thing, Y/N has a good one in her corner. If Hook has your back, you know youāre gonna be alright. Jack and Anna better watch out now boys.ā
Hook leaned down and grabbed your hand, pulling you up to your feet. The crowd was absolutely wild, and it was a reaction you really didnāt expect. He silently nodded towards the ramp as he let go of your hand. You walked ahead of him, slipping out of the ropes and making your way towards the tunnels, clutching your side and your head for the added affect.
You looked over your shoulder to find hook close behind, his eyes locked on you the second you spared a glance. Just before you reached the tunnels, you heard his voice, somehow over all the commotion around the arena.
āWaitā he caused you to turn around, now inches apart from you. Your eyes widened when you realized the closeness, before you felt his hand grab yours again and hold it up in the air, turning you towards the crowd that was on the verge of losing their minds.
He pointed at you, nodding as he took in the reactions. You were trying to soak it all in but it all had you confused. Assuming he was really good at selling, you tried to ignore the fact that his harsh words had been running through your mind for the past week, but due to that, you didnāt expect all of this.
He dropped your hand and nodded towards the tunnel, letting you lead the way. As soon as you got away from the chaos in the arena, you turned around to face him. Part of you wanted to ask why he was so rude to you last week but the other part of you was screaming for you not to.
Hookās brows knitted together when you looked up at him. The last thing you probably shouldāve been thinking about was the first one that came to mind simply because your brain did that sometimes.
He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and looked like the walking depiction of darkness with the way his hair casted over nearly half of his face. Meanwhile you had on all white ring gear coupled with white nails and the comparison must have looked nothing less than polar opposites when you stood side by side.
But then you heard him say, āAre you just gonna stand there and stare at me?ā
Thatās when you realized youād just been staring up at him, feeling your cheeks immediately burn beneath your skin when he called you out for it. Hook saw the way your face flushed and a rosy tint dusted over. Then he noticed a gold cross sitting against your chest much like his own. He didnāt comment on it, obviously.
You wanted to redeem yourself but couldnāt muster words at that point and he stared down at you awaiting a response or simply for you to move out of his way, which is exactly what you did.
The second you stepped to the side, he slipped past you, brushing your shoulder on his way down the hall. You stood there with a bit of a dumbfounded look on your face as you watched him leave without sparing you another glance.
āāā
Another week passed by and again, you and hook hadnāt spoke, but your tagged photos on instagram were nothing but you and him from Dynamite the week prior. It was funny how many fans were going crazy for a duo that was anything but when you werenāt on cameras.
Youād looked down at your phone when it buzzed and a text from Tony came through. You were put in the group chat with a 363 area code and debated whether or not you should save him in your contacts.
The text was the instructions for a segment later on. You and hook were going to be spotted talking in the hallway. He sent the full script and with only an hour to memorize and apologized for the last minute scheduling.
You were typing back when another message popped up. It was from hook, nothing but a short and simple reply saying, āAll goodā meanwhile youād typed almost a whole paragraph about how it was okay, donāt apologize and you were going to get to memorizing right now. Needless to say, you deleted that and typed back, āNo problem, Iāll have them memorized.ā
You then scrolled up the long message, unsure if you could actually sell this with such a short amount of study time. You didnāt want to screw up on live tv.
Your lips moved as you read over the lines. It wouldāve been way easier if you could actually rehearse them with someone but clearly hook wasnāt going to be down for that and Skye and Willow both had the night off, which was the reason you were sitting alone in catering.
You tried to focus but you felt that feeling again. Eyes on you, unavailable. He was somewhere in the room and you could feel it. He was staring at you again, and you didnāt even have to find him to be able to tell that.
You couldnāt keep your mind on the script now that you knew you were being watched. You wondered why he was staring in the first place. What was his problem with you after all?
The temptations got the better of you and you finally tore your eyes from your phone, only to find him sitting directly across from you at the next table over. Like you already knew, staring.
He didnāt bother to snatch his gaze off of you. He was shameless about the way he watched you. You couldnāt help it when your nerves grabbed strong hold of you and out blurted, āAre you just gonna sit there and stare?ā, loud enough for the people around to hear, earning their attention.
Hook didnāt acknowledge them. He didnāt even blink. Didnāt move a single muscle and thatās when you decided to get up and walk over to him, despite the way his dark eyes made you want to take off running.
You approached his table and took a seat directly across from him. He tilted his head back slightly and crossed his arms over his chest. His brows raised in an expectant manner and you could feel the eyes of talent all around focused on the two of you.
āWhy do you keep staring at me?ā You called him out the same way he did to you last week in the tunnel. He kept a stoic expression as his eyes dropped down to your phone in hand on top of the table. He decided to avoid your question to ask one of his own.
āYou think you can sell that segment later?ā
Caught off guard, you felt your brows knit together, looking down at your phone which served as a reminder that you needed to be studying those lines.
āIām gonna do my best.ā You answered honestly, looking back at him. āAre you not going to go over your lines?ā
āI already know them.ā
āThe text just came in like five minutes ago.ā You pointed out.
āAnd I already know them, and yours.ā He coolly states before he grabs the bookbag from the seat next to him and stands up. āDonāt mess up.ā He says before he tries to leave.
āWait!ā Your voice didnāt do you any favors when it came out a little squeakier than you intended, but it kept him there. āCan you help me go over them?ā
He stared down at you, face unreadable as always. There was a pause before he said, āIf I didnāt have to get ready for my match, maybe Iād consider.ā Then he headed out of catering, leaving you alone at the table.
āāā
You headed down the hallway where you were supposed to shoot the segment. Hook was already there, leaning against the wall with his phone in hand. He had his ring gear on, a couple red marks on his chest and sweat glistening off his skin. He must have just came back from his match.
Nobody else was around yet. You slowly walked over to him and stood against the opposite wall in front of him. He finished typing something before he picked his head up and looked down at you. You did your best not to spare him a glance as you continued going over your lines.
āItās a little late to be trying to memorize them now.ā You heard him mutter.
āI think I have them memorized, actually.ā You look up at him, now leaning back with arms crossed. His hair was absolutely unruly and you couldnāt help but stifle a laugh when you saw it up close. The way it was standing straight up over his head reminded you of Chicken Little.
āWhat?ā His brows knit when he catches your reaction.
āSorryā you shake your head and wipe the smirk off your face. āItās your hair.ā
āWhat about my hair?ā
āItās like, standing straight up.ā You point out, watching his eyes squint at you.
āItās hair. It does that.ā He deadpanned.
āMine never does.ā
āThatās ācause Annaās always pulling yours out.ā He bantered back, and for the first time you thought maybe you saw his lips tip up in a smirk, but as soon as you caught it, he wiped it away.
āShe is not always pulling it out. That was one time. And that was so long ago, how do you even know that?ā
Silence suddenly filled the hallway. He didnāt have an answer for that and thankfully for him, the cameraman made his way around the corner just in time.
āAlright, ready?ā He calls out to the both of you. You take one more quick glance at your phone before shoving it in your pocket and taking in a deep breath.
Hook pushed himself off the wall and whispered, āDonāt mess up.ā Before he stood behind you, close enough that when you turned around, you had to put a little space between you.
āAction.ā
āY/N.ā Hook suddenly spoke. āYou canāt let anyone walk all over you in this company. Itās time for you to take control. You need to start fighting fire with fire.ā
He was right when he said he had his parts memorized. It was so effortless to him. He went from one persona to the next in a matter of seconds.
You tried to hide the surprise on your face and snap into character. He eyed you skeptically, you could clearly tell he was expecting you to mess up.
āI donāt want to play dirty, Hook. Thatās gonna be my karma when it comes back to bite me.ā First line down, you didnāt think it was too bad.
āOr maybe Anna Jay and Jack Perryās karma is us. Did you ever think about that?ā He raised his voice and took a step foward unexpectedly, backing you against the wall. You were suddenly flustered but knew you had to force that away.
āJack knocked me out with the same title Anna hit you with. My FTW title. Theyāre cornering you and youāre allowing it! Whatās gonna happen when youāre in the hospital with a concussion next time and I canāt save you?ā
His chest started heaving as hot breaths fanned against your skin. He was way too good at this.
āWhat do you want me to do, Hook? You want me to be evil like they are? Thatās not me!ā
A second passed and you saw the way his eyes dropped down to some other part of your face, suddenly making you self conscious about whatever caught his attention. Then, he leaned in even closer, his chest brushing against yours when he inhaled.
āIf youāre gonna be with me, you have to be tougher than this. That sweet, innocent personality of yours isnāt going to get us anywhere, and Iām not gonna stand by while you let yourself get assaulted every week. Itās time to start fighting back, Y/N.ā
Half of that line, you didnāt recall memorizing. It threw you off a little bit, and thanks to that, you couldnāt remember your final line. You suddenly got anxious, mouth falling open with no words coming out. Hook picked up on this, not letting too much time pass before he tried to jog your memory.
āYou donāt have anything to say? Youāre okay with these people tormenting us? You want them to take everything from us?ā
You hoped he could hear you silently thanking him. You knew that wasnāt a line but he kept it going for the sake of embarrassing yourself.
āIf you want me to fight back, then let me do it my way.ā You recited, shooting him your best glare for the dramatics. āIām not turning cold for you, but that doesnāt mean I canāt beat her ass so bad sheāll wish she never stepped foot in a ring with me.ā
His lips turned upwards in the faintest hint of a smirk and this time you were certain on it before he quickly brought that straight face back for the camera and nodded his head saying his last line.
āIām gonna hold you to that.ā
āCutā
The camera man left you and hook in the hallway. As soon as the camera wasnāt on you an enormous weight was lifted off of your shoulders, finally able to take a deep breath, but the air around quickly got suffocating all over again.
Hook didnāt move. He was still standing close enough to you that you felt pinned to the wall. He held those infamously dark eyes on you for a moment, studying you. In his mind, he didnāt see the value of having you as a partner. He couldnāt understand why he got paired with someone who looks like theyād cry the minute someone raised their voice.
You just appeared to him as a sweet, innocent person and not in the way that he intended for it to be a compliment. Sweet and innocent wasnāt his thing. He needed someone just as coldhearted and vengeful as him.
Nevertheless, he was with you now until this storyline ends and his dad told him during a conversation they had a few days prior, that he needs to look at things a little bit differently. Taz seemed to think that he needed someone like you by his side. The coldhearted handsome devil needed a conscious and in his dadās mind, a babyface with the reputation of being a walking ray of sunshine was the angel on Hookās shoulder.
He carefully considered his dadās perspective, but then aroused ideas of his own. A concept that he pitched to Tony that you had no idea what was coming. Plans to take your squeaky clean image and transform it into something greater, something more complimentary to himself.
You eyed him, swallowing past a thick lump accumulating in your throat before you managed to speak in a voice almost weary.
āWhy are you staring at me like that?ā
Hookās head tilted to the side, as if he was intrigued by the simple question. Your wide eyes reminded him of a skittish puppy ready to bolt, and he was surprised you havenāt yet.
āI thought you had your lines memorized?ā He countered your question.
āI did, until you decided to improvise.ā You quickly blurted, feeling like you exaggerated that defense. His brows raised slightly from beneath the thick hair against his forehead before he took a step back, putting space between you for the first time in what felt like an eternity.
āSee you next week.ā He muttered before he disappeared around the corner.
āāā
Two nights later, as you got cozy in bed, just about to doze off, your phone buzzed with a text from that same area code you recognized as Hook.
ābeen talking to my dad. you need to learn redrum. im in the hotel gymā
You glanced at the time, nearly baffled when you realized it was one-thirty in the morning. You texted back a quick reply.
āRight now? This canāt wait until tomorrow? And why do I need to learn your moves? I have moves of my own.ā
You stared at the message until the delivered turned into read at 1:32 and locked your phone until he texted back.
āim going to bed at 2ā
You stared at that simple little message and knew it was basically him not giving much of an option. You huffed as you slid out of bed, never minding to change out of your sweatpants or do anything with yourself for that matter. It was almost two in the morning. You should be asleep.
The elevators brought you down to the first floor. You headed across the lobby towards the gym. You could hear the sound of a punching bag being hit three times each even through the closed door.
You walked in, to your surprise finding Hook and Taz both. Taz was keeping the punching bag steady while Hook threw his fists into it, but that came to an abrupt halt when taz spotted you first.
āAh, there she is.ā His voice echoed through the empty room. āDidnāt think youād actually show.ā He chuckled, turning to his son. āTyler and I have been talking about that upcoming tagteam match between you and the goofballs, we think if the crowd saw a double redrum theyād go nuts.ā
You glanced at hook, now with the new knowledge that his name was actually Tyler, and for some reason thatās all that registered in that moment. He was looking at his dad, not even sparing a glance in your direction until Taz gave him a strong pat on his bare back and said, āIāll leave you to it son. Your motherās waiting for me.ā
You held the door open to let him through, offering a faint smile. Taz stopped before he left the room, looking over his shoulder at his son, āPolite tooā he commented, and you werenāt sure what that was supposed to mean but didnāt ask either. āDonāt hurt him too bad.ā He muttered with an amused grin before he headed out.
You closed the door and stepped a little farther in the room. Taz seemed to have taken that lighthearted energy with him when he left because once again, the air was thick. It felt hot and heavy in your lungs and it made no sense to you why that was always the case when you were around him.
He stood at the front of the room with his hands on his hips. He looked like heād been at it for hours what with the way his cheeks were bright red and sweat was covering every visible inch of his body, and drenching his hair.
āDo you always work out at two in the morning?ā You asked as you drew a little closer, feeling like you were physically walking on eggshells.
āI go to sleep at two.ā He replied, rather breathlessly. His eyes adverted down to your t-shirt and sweats, and the fuzzy slippers you put on before you left the hotel room. āApparently you do too.ā
āI was almost asleep when you texted.ā You defended yourself and your cozy loungewear. āIām not going to throw on a whole outfit just to come down to the gym.ā
āReal shoes either.ā He countered.
You looked down at the slippers and then back up at him. āTheyāre comfy. I donāt care.ā
āClearly.ā He nodded. āDoesnāt matter. You familiar with any of my moves at all?ā
You couldāve told him that youād watched some of his matches in the viewing room before but something told you that he would think you were weird for that, so you simply shrugged and said, ākind of, not really.ā
The way he eyed you made you think he knew you were lying.
āNever seen me do redrum?ā He questioned, raising his brows.
āMaybe like one time.ā You lied again, and thatās when his eyes narrowed, as if he was reading right through the bullshit.
He pushed his hair back and let his hand fall to his side with a smack to his hip before he stepped away from the punching bag and over to a bench, grabbing an almost empty water bottle and chugging the rest.
He crumbled the plastic before tossing it in the trash can halfway across the room and walking back over. He stood in front of you. It seemed to you like the man didnāt know the definition of personal space.
āAre you familiar with a half nelson at least?ā
You shot him a questionable look, feeling the sarcasm dripping from his question.
āPretty sure everyone is.ā You crossed your arms, deadpanning on him in an attempt to dish it right back. His lips fold in and thatās when you couldnāt help but notice a dimple on his right cheek.
āAlright then-ā he held his arms out to his sides. āPut me in one.ā
You shot him another look, wondering if that was a serious request or not. He stared at you, clearly waiting. It didnāt seem probable since the man towered over you.
āHow do I do that when youāre like, six foot tall?ā You asked, holding your own arms out. āIām obviously too short to reach.ā
āSize doesnāt matter. Itās the way you utilize your body. Annaās taller than you, how do you expect to put her in a choke? Wait for her to get down?ā
āI wasnāt planning to until you said I needed to learn your moves. I have a couple of my own.ā
āAnd clearly they donāt work too well.ā He counters comebacks quickly, you realize.
āIf you canāt reach, use your legs first.ā He instructed, suddenly having a more serious edge to his voice. āIf that means you have to jump on their back, then do that. Iāve had to a time or two.ā He shrugged before he waved you foward.
You dropped your arms and eyed him skeptically. An uneasy feeling was trying to take over simply because the thought of wrestling around with a man twice your size didnāt seem like the smartest idea.
āYouāre not gonna sling me over your shoulder or something, are you?ā
You caught the brief flash of confusion that crossed through his eyes before they returned to that cold stare he perfected.
āNo, Y/N.ā He huffed in annoyance. āIām not gonna do anything but let you take me down. Iām gonna fall foward though, not back, so if you go flying off of me thatās on you.ā
In his mind he was wondering why you were so apprehensive about this. Did you really think he was going to hurt you? He might not be all that friendly but he didnāt have intentions to harm you. Either way, he pushed past those thoughts and focused on the task at hand.
You nodded in understanding before you circled around him, taking a step back for more momentum when you sprung foward. Your legs wrapped tightly around his waist, knees locking in underneath his ribs and you heard a low grunt reverberate through his throat.
āAm I hurting you?ā You loosened your legs but felt his hands grab them, keeping you wrapped tightly around him.
āNope, always keep your legs tight. Iām good. Lock it in.ā
You did as you were told, snaking one arm beneath his jaw and the other under his arm, bringing it up and pushing his head down until you felt him falling foward with a low, āFuckā beneath his breath.
You held on tight as his knees hit the floor and he tapped on your arm quickly. You unwrapped yourself and stood back up, offering your hand to help him to his feet, but he ignored it.
āWas that right?ā You asked, feeling somewhat prideful about the way you just brought a six foot tall, two hundred pound man down to his knees with his own finisher.
He nodded, rubbing his neck. āYeah, that was right.ā He cleared his throat. He then eyed you with a somewhat unreadable look on his face, eyes slightly narrowed.
āWhat?ā You asked.
āYouāve never seen that before?ā He resorted back to his previous question from earlier.
āI told you I have once.ā You reminded him, but again, human lie detector comes out of him and it was evident.
āMost people donāt get it right the first time after seeing me do it more than once.ā
āWell I did.ā You shrugged, watching as he peered those eyes at you, reading straight through the bullshit once more just to hum in response.
āNot very believable but alright.ā He muttered before he walked over to the bench and sat down, grabbing his hoodie and tossing it over his shoulder. You felt your clothes sticking to your body with sweat that wasnāt your own and peeled the fabric from your skin, just for it to stick right back.
Hook noticed this. āYou got a little sweat on you.ā He comments obviously.
āDo I? I didnāt notice.ā You sarcastically replied, and another unreadable expression played on his face, one that had you wondering what he was thinking, but you didnāt ask. It returned back to that blank, emotionless look moments after.
āI have a match Wednesday.ā He said as he ran his hand through his unruly hair. āYou should probably be ringside.ā
āDid Tony say that? I havenāt heard anything.ā
āIām saying that.ā He leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, looking up at you. Your mouth clamped shut with that response. He clearly saw the mixed reaction playing on your face and made it a point to clarify.
āThe more weāre together, the more weāll sell.ā
But something told you otherwise and you werenāt sure what. Something was nagging at you about his actual motives. If you remember correctly, he didnāt seem too pleased about being paired up with you to begin with.
āI didnāt think you cared so much about this storyline.ā You tested. āYou seemed really unhappy about it when we were in Tonyās office. And after, especially.ā You referred to the first little conversation, or lack there of, in the hallway.
He looked down at his knuckles and a few scars on them before he looked back up at you.
āIf we have to do it, I want to at least make it good.ā He said, ignoring basically everything you just said. āThat means we need to sell it. So we need to be seen together a lot more. Nobodyās gonna believe it if weāre only shot on segments and nowhere else.ā
You nodded, understanding that fact.
āSo when I have a match, you be there. When you have a match, Iāll be there.ā He then stood up and threw on the black hoodie you always saw him wear at work before he walked past you, muttering a low, āsee you Wednesdayā under his breath before the gym doors shut behind him.
āāā
āSounds like he wants to fuck you.ā Willow bluntly stated after you told her and Skye all about whatās been going on lately. You felt your cheeks practically burn your skin but looked away in an attempt to hide it.
āAgreed.ā Skye adds in. āLooks like someoneās not so coldhearted after all.ā
āNo, he definitely is.ā You affirm with a quick nod. āHeās just good at selling a storyline. Heās a different person on camera than he is elsewhere.ā
āHe looks pretty angry all the time to me. On camera and every time I pass his grumpy ass in the hallsā Willow chuckled and you couldnāt help but do the same. āAnd if heās trying to sell the story purely, I donāt think heād bother getting you down to the gym at almost two in the morning.ā
āWell it was to teach me his finisher for when we have that tagteam match.ā You justified, but they didnāt buy it.
āThat couldāve waited for a day time hour, Y/N.ā Skye tried to convince you, but there was no use in that. You looked at the time and realized his match was starting soon. You got up from the seat, thankful for an excuse to leave the conversation.
āIām needed ringside.ā You tell them, noting the smirks on their face before you left.
Hook was already in the gorilla waiting for his music to hit when you finally got there. His back was turned and head hung as he pushed himself back and to against the bars.
āHey.ā You breathlessly said, due to nearly racing to be in time. He turned his head, looking over his shoulder as he kept doing what looked to you like mid air push ups, assuming it was just something he did to get amped up.
His eyes adverted down to your shirt. You didnāt have a match tonight so you didnāt bother throwing on your ring gear. He was wearing all black this time, and you were wearing a bright yellow top and black shorts.
āHey sunshine.ā He said with a condescending, mocking tone as he eyed your apparel.
āSunshine? Why? Because of my shirt?ā You asked. āWas I supposed to match you or something?ā
He shook his head and dropped it, exposing that dimple again. He pushed himself off the rails to stand up straight, looking down at you rather dramatically with the way he dropped his head.
āI didnāt say anything about your clothes.ā
āYou insinuated by the way you looked at my yellow shirt, then called me sunshine.ā You pointed out, watching an amused grin spread across his lips before he dropped his head to cover it. You know you werenāt mistaking.
It was then that his music hit and the pop of the arena was already ringing your ears. He headed through the tunnel and you followed, unsure what you were actually supposed to do now that you were here.
The crowd went crazy when hook came out, but nearly insane when you popped out right behind him. He stopped at the top of the ramp to look amongst the sea of faces, and you endured it all next to him. You turned to look at him, only to find him staring down at you.
He nodded towards the ring, signaling for you to take the lead, so you did. On commentary once again, Taz was hyping it up for the viewers at home.
āThatās hook right there folks. The coldhearted handsome devil. Heās being accompanied by one of AEWās crowd favorites, Y/N for this match. These two have been joined at the hip ever since Anna Jay knocked her upside the head with the FTW title. Theyāve got each others backs, Iāll tell you that much.ā
If you could hear commentary it would probably make you laugh just how much his dad sells the storyline.
You stopped at the end of the ramp and waited for hook to walk down. He stopped next to you for a moment, the cameraman panning in on the two of you taking in the crowd reactions before he nodded towards where you would be standing, signaling for you to take your place while he rounds the ring.
When the bell rings and the match gets started, you watch on from where you stood leaning against the canvas. Youāve seen a few of his matches but never up close. It was clear exactly why he was favored in this industry. His quickness and agility was otherworldly. He was fast thinking and cleverly destructive.
He made quick work of getting his opponent down. It had only taken about three and a half minutes and the redrum was locked in, and seconds after, his music boomed through the arena.
You clapped genuinely, watching as he got to his feet and slipped out the ring on your side. He nodded towards the tunnels and by this point you already knew to take the lead while he walks behind you. No idea why he prefers it that way, but you didnāt question.
When you reached the stage, you stopped and turned to face the crowd. He got up next to you and looked at you questionably when you grabbed his wrist, even though he already knew what you were going to do.
You raised his hand in the air and listened to the crowd explode. The pop was unlike anything youād witnessed yourself, and it was doing a pretty good job at bringing your confidence level way up.
āProbably one of AEWās most unlikely duos. The coldhearted handsome devil and Y/N look like night and day standing next to each other.ā Excalibur mentions on commentary.
āTheir appearances may be complete opposites but donāt let that fool you my guy. These two are a force to be reckoned with.ā Taz adds.
You get halfway through the tunnel when you look over your shoulder to find hook trailing closely behind you.
āGood job.ā You smile at him, though he doesnāt return the smile back. You didnāt expect him to, anyway. He hummed in response and dropped his head, ruffling his hair.
Just then, a text came through to your phone. You pulled it out of your pocket and read the group chat message.
āItās Tony.ā You tell hook. āHe said me being ringside was a nice touch for whoeverās idea that was. Want me to tell him it was yours?ā
āNah.ā He shortly replied. āDid he say anything else?ā He asked, seeming a little curious.
āNo.ā You told him, watching as he nods once. āWhat do you think weāll be doing next? Another segment? When even is this tagteam match happening?ā
āAsk him.ā He mutters.
He wasnāt saying much all of the sudden which confused you. It was like he retreated into a shell after he decided he didnāt like the outside world for the two minutes he experienced it.
āAre you tired?ā You asked, noticing the questioning glance he gave you.
āNo?ā
āOh. You sound tired.ā You added as you headed down the hall with him, unsure where you were actually going since you just got caught up in talking to him.
āNot tiredā he sighed, giving you the impression that he didnāt want to talk at all anymore. Or maybe he never even did in the first place.
āAlright well, Iāll see you next week then.ā Your voice was far weaker than his was. He slowed down but didnāt stop, muttering āalrightā before he kept walking down the hallway, leaving you standing in the middle of it for what felt like the hundredth time watching him leave.
āāā
A text from Tony came through two days later. It was a graph with the ratings for Wednesday nightās show and apparently the interactions with you and Hook brought a lot of attention on.
You were typing a reply when another message came through. It was next weeks plans for the two of you. Reading over it, you couldnāt help but to be confused. Apparently you were supposed to interfere in one of Annaās matches that Jack was going to be standing ringside for. This time, you were going to be the one using the belt against her after hook takes it from jack.
Sounded like heel work in your opinion.
You didnāt reply due to the fact that you werenāt sure what to say, but hook did. His message came through a few minutes after the text was sent and was nothing but a simple okay emoji.
That night, you received a text from hook. It was short and simple like all the other ones had been.
āyou own any black clothes?ā
You felt like you could feel the sarcasm through the screen. What kind of question was that?
āWhy?ā You replied, not having much time to close your phone before another one came through.
āso we can matchā
You understood the reasoning but werenāt super thrilled about black of all colors.
āDo you own anything other than black clothes?ā You retorted. This time there was a pause between messages.
āwhat color do you want to wear, y/nā if you were standing in front of him having this conversation you just knew heād have that bored look on his face. You thought for a minute about a reasonable color. Then decided on one he probably would glare at you for.
āGot anything yellow?ā You grinned to yourself knowing that he was probably going to roll his eyes at that one.
āno.ā
āFineā¦ Blue?ā
āno.ā
āRed?ā
āno. wear black wednesdayā
You stared down at that message for a moment debating on what to say back. You looked across the room at your suitcase overflowing with clothes but you already knew the only article of clothing you brought with you that was all black was a dress you wore to go out in. Nothing reasonable for the show.
āI donāt have anything black suitable for tv.ā
āhow would something not be suitable? just wear itā
You sighed deeply as you walked over to your suitcase and pulled out the dress that you only wore once simply because it rode up way too high all night long. You threw it on the bed and snapped a picture, sending it to him.
āThis is it and Iām not wearing it.ā
There was a couple moments that passed before you received a message back.
āi donāt see the issueā
āItās revealing.ā
āso is your ring gear but you still wear it?ā You stared at that message wondering why you were standing in the middle of the room arguing with that man right now. And still, you continue to do so.
āThatās ring gear. Thatās different.ā
This time, a good five minutes pass by before he replies. You had just tossed your phone on the bed when you figured he was done texting only to grab it almost as quickly as you tossed it when your phone buzzed again.
āill bring one of my hoodies thenā
On the other end of the phone, Tyler was sitting at a restaurant table with his dad going over the next couple of weeks.
Taz was the one who told him that the two of you should match and it would probably do good at winning over the crowd and the viewers, but he was thinking more along the lines of his son wearing something other than the typical black attire he exhausts.
āItās funny seeing you two up on that stageā taz chuckles as he digs his fork into his pasta. āYouāre like the moon and sheās the sun, for now at leastā
Tylerās eyes lifted from his phone. He was staring at the three little dots while he awaited your response. He said heād bring you one of his hoodies and for some reason he was apprehensive about sending that message. It felt like odd territory to him to be letting you wear his clothes, but apparently all you had was a little black dress you didnāt feel comfortable wearing.
āAnd Iāll tell you another thing, when you two team up in that ring, the fans are gonna lose their freakinā mindsā
Just then, a text came through and for some reason a slight smile landed on tylerās lips, until his dad called it out.
āWhoās that?ā He questioned, trying to lean foward to steal a glance at his sonās phone. He was quick to lock it and stuff it in his pocket.
āY/N.ā He muttered before he dug his own fork into his food.
āHave you talked to her about the turn yet?ā Taz asked, and Tyler froze for a second.
āNah, not yet.ā
āShe doesnāt know?ā He questioned, looking a bit taken back. āWhat does she think the plans for you two are? You have to tell her, son.ā
āIām pretty sure sheāll figure it out on her own.ā He grumbled, leaning back in his seat and dropping the fork against his plate.
āTylerā taz shot him a look, āIt was your idea. You need to be the one to tell her straight.ā
And it was his idea. He approached Tony shortly after he left you in the hallway that first time the two of you talked, and pitched the idea that you should have a heel run by his side. Tony wasnāt apprehensive at all. To him, and to Hook, the idea of an Americaās Sweetheart type of personality completely doing a 180 with the coldhearted handsome devil was golden.
It was just that he told Tony that heād talk to you about it and never did. Plans had changed from the originality of the first idea and you had no clue about it.
āWhatās gonna happen when sheās supposed to go out in front of thousands of people as a heel, and sheās thinking sheās still this babyface character?ā Taz reasons, making Tyler drop his eyes to the table.
āShe needs time to prepare. Itās not easy going a complete 180 son. Especially not if you wait until last minute to tell her.ā
He retrieved his phone from his pocket and read your message back.
āThank youā was all you said. His thumbs hovered over the screen before he finally managed a response. It was hard to put it into words for some reason and when he realized what it sounded like, he had to send a double text for clarification.
ācan you come to my room laterā
āto talk. itās kinda importantā
āāā
Later meant way later than you expected when Hook sent you the text letting you know what room number he was in at midnight.
Regardless of how tired you were, you were way more anxious than anything to figure out what was so important. You reached room 235 and knocked on his door. You heard some shuffling around before he opened it, hair even messier than usual and eyes low, like he was on the verge of passing out himself.
He stepped back and waved you in. You walked in and eyed him as he walked around you. He didnāt sit down anywhere and you didnāt make yourself comfy either. This was awkward. Probably the most awkward encounter youāve had with him yet.
Truth was that he was a little nervous. He didnāt know how you were going to take the fact that this entire time, you were working on a heel turn without even knowing it. And he was the one behind it all.
He looked down at you, leaning against the wall as he contemplated the best way to go about the conversation. He never really got nervous about anything so this was fairly new and rather uncomfortable for him.
āDid you get that message from Tony about Wednesday?ā He started off by asking, and you slowly nodded. You eyed him, trying to read an unreadable man.
āWhat did you think about it?ā He was doing a good job at reading you though. Wasnāt hard since you had a tendency to wear your emotions on your face. He could tell you were skeptical of him in that moment by the way you stared at him solely. Heās seen that look from you a couple dozen times already and the only other one he can recognize that easily is the look you give when he makes a smart comment to you.
āYou mean about me using the title to hit Anna? It sounded like heel work to me.ā You told him, watching as he nodded.
āCause it is.ā
You blinked twice. āIām not a heel.ā
āI talked to Tony about this storyline a while back. We agreed itās a better idea if you have a heel run with me.ā
You stared up at him, a bit lost. The original idea was for the babyfaces to win in the end, since jack and Anna were already heels. Now it turns out that you had a whole new character transition coming you didnāt even know about in the first place and frankly, you were unsure how to feel.
āWait so this whole time Iāve been working on turning heel? And you knew that and didnāt tell me?ā You peered your eyes at him, glaring. āWhy not?ā
āNever had the chance, I guess.ā He shrugged.
āNever had the chance?ā You felt your eyes form into small slits. āYou had plenty. How come you got to decide what I do with my gimmick and I didnāt even get the chance to give my opinion?ā
Just then, a voice popped into his head, belonging to his dad. Women donāt like when you lie to them, son.
He didnāt intend to lie. It just happened that way. He kind of assumed youād catch on with the whole heel turn thing and not ask questions but now that he knows you a little better, he knows better than that.
āYour goody two shoes persona wasnāt working well for you anyway, Y/N. We knew it wouldnāt sell for a storyline like this so we came up with something better. If Tony pitched the idea you wouldnāt be getting all fired up at himā
āItās not the fact that Iāll be turning heel, itās the fact that nobody told me. Especially you.ā You pointed out. You werenāt even mad about the new plans. You wouldāve agreed to it anyway if that was the first idea Tony pitched, but you were walking around with no idea what was coming for you and that alone made you more nervous than you needed to be.
āMaybe you didnāt realize, but this is my very first storyline. The last thing I want to do is blow my chance at another one and Iāve been going around absolutely oblivious to the fact that Iām expected to do a whole heel turn in who knows how soon, and you just let me look stupid when you were the one who unrightfully came up with the idea in the first place!ā
You rarely yelled at people and he rarely ever got yelled at. It was heightening the tensions between both of you and he expected as much, but didnāt foresee you chewing him out this bad.
āYouāre not going around looking stupid! Tony gives you the rundown every week. You know whatās coming and if you didnāt by now you wouldāve figured it out.ā
You were somewhat baffled by his defensiveness. There was no true justification to what he omitted and he probably knew that full well and just didnāt want to admit he was wrong.
āYeah, like last minute!ā You shout, not meaning to be as loud as you were but you couldnāt help it. āThis means something to me, Tyler!ā
The use of his name took him back a little and you didnāt mean for that to slip in the first place but for some reason Hook wasnāt the first name to come out in that moment.
Just then, there was a knock on his door that caught both of your attentions.
āGo awayā he shouted, but thatās when his dadās voice reached both of you.
āOpen the door, son.ā
He rolled his eyes as he walked over. Opening the door and taking a step back so taz could walk in. It was strange to see him wearing pajamas but you ignored that.
āI can hear you two across the hall. What is going on in here?ā
Tyler looked at you for a second before he looked back at his dad. āSheās not happy about the heel run.ā
āNo-ā you stepped forward, correcting him. āIām not happy about being lied to.ā
Taz gave his son a look. A stern I told you so kind of glance.
āAlrightā taz held his hands up, āI get that, Y/N. I told this man that he needed to let you know what was going on and not at the very last minute. He doesnāt listen to nobody but himself and half the time that steers him wrong.ā
āClearly.ā You huffed out, crossing your arms.
He turned to Tyler and shrugged. āThis oneās on you bud. Make it right but keep it down. We donāt need to draw attention.ā
You nodded and taz made his way back out, leaving you and Tyler alone once again. He dropped his head and ran his hands through his hair, thinking.
āIām not happy about this.ā You state.
āCouldnāt tell.ā He muttered under his breath. The fact that he had the audacity to be sarcastic was mind blowing to you. It made you actually want to scream at him but the last thing you wanted was Taz to come back and give you both some sort of lecture or something.
Tyler picked his head up, tired eyes landing on you. āIām sorry for not telling you sooner.ā He said, shrugging his shoulders. It was a half ass apology but the only one heād ever given. He never really cared to give anyone that type of respect, or what he thinks is respect in his mind.
āThere was no reason why you kept it from me.ā You remind him, watching him nod.
āI know.ā He sighed.
āAnd I have a right to be mad right now because my whole entire image is about to change dramatically and I havenāt even been prepared for it.ā
āYeah, but youāre not doing it all on your own. Youāre doing it with me. Iām turning too.ā
āYeah, but you had time to prepare for that.ā You pointedly state. āHow much time do I have? Literally Iām about to start at the next show and I didnāt even realize it.ā
āItās not something you really have to prepare for, Y/N. You just go out there and put on a show. Itās not much different than what we do right now.ā He walked around you and made his way to the bed, sitting down on the edge.
āItās different for me. Iām not mean in general. I need to practice.ā
You watched a weird look cross over his face, bringing his lips up in a faint smirk. āYouāre not mean?ā He quirked a brow. āNot even a little bit?ā
āNo?ā You shrugged.
You heard a low chuckle before he looked down at his phone in hand. You sighed when you realized that this conversation was probably going nowhere fast and the best thing you could do was accept the reality of the situation and work with what youāre dealing with.
āSince you seem to think itās easy becoming a whole different person, tell me where to start.ā You plopped down on the chair awkwardly positioned halfway across the room. His eyes lifted from his phone before he tossed it to the side.
āItās just acting, Y/N. Itās not like youāre becoming a different person all together. Itās literally one day out of the week that you put on a tough face and sell a gimmick. Thereās nothing complicated about it. Youāre complicating it yourself.ā
You glared at him and the annoyance that was so evident in his tone. He sighed and leaned back on his hands, his eyes lowering by the second.
āI guess just start acting like you hate the world. Go out there and give everyone the biggest eat shit look. Be a little more aggressive in the ring and more no fucks given outside of it.ā He advised, watching you nod before you stood up from the chair.
āSo basically, be more like you.ā You pointed out. Before he could respond to that, you held up your hand to silence him. āGot it.ā You said before you left his room.
āāā
āDoesnāt make sense why he didnāt tell you.ā Skye says as you and her head down the hall towards catering. āItās literally your gimmick changing.ā
āI know.ā You roll your eyes. You were sick and tired of thinking on it. At this point youād decided to stop wishing you wouldāve known beforehand, since clearly there was no changing that, and take the bull by the horns.
Even though Tyler told you that nothing really changes, everything was about to. Your persona, your ring gear, especially your attitude. You had a lot of winning over to do and you were determined to use this transformation to the best of your ability. No matter how bitter you might feel about the fact that he kept the whole thing from you for weeks.
āDoesnāt matter. Iām gonna be a good heel. Iāve been thinking about all of it. I have tons of ideas and Iām starting to actually get excited about it.ā You told her, rounding the corner.
āSpeak of the devil.ā Skye muttered. āWant me to wait up for you or are you good?ā
āIām good.ā You nod as you watch him slowly approach with a black hoodie on and one draped across his shoulder.
He got a look from Skye as she passed by but he didnāt pay attention. He pulled that hoodie off of his shoulder and handed it to you wordlessly. You eyed him as you took it from his hand and threw it over your own shoulder. You hadnāt spoke since that night in his room and heād been meaning to ask you if you were still mad but never ended up doing so.
The look you were giving him was telling him the answer is definitely yes, youāre still mad.
āIām going out tomorrow to get some different clothes for my heel era so Ill give this back to you after weāre done tonight.ā
āAlright.ā He nodded, watching as you pull the hoodie off and hold it up to see it better. Clearly it was going to swallow you whole.
āThis might as well be a baggy dress on me.ā You pointed out as you held it against your body, showing that it falls nearly to your knees. He noticed the same thing.
āYou can cut it if you need to.ā He shrugged. āTo make it fit decently.ā
Your brows knitted together as you looked back up at him. āIf Iām giving it back why would I cut it?ā
He shrugged again, looking down at the large hoodie covering you whole.
āYou can keep it. I donāt really care. Might need to match again sometime later.ā
For some reason he was being nice and it was strange to you. Youād chalked it up to the fact that he feels guilty for lying to you. As he should. You tossed the hoodie back over your shoulder.
āIāll deal with it. You can have it back later.ā You say before you brush past him and head down to catering to meet up with Skye.
āWhat happened?ā She asked when you took a seat. Her eyes adverted to your shoulder. āIs that his hoodie he was just wearing?!ā You could see the thoughts rolling around in her mind and quickly shut them down. You slung the hoodie down on the table.
āNo, not the one he was just wearing, Skye. Just one of them.ā
āYouāre wearing his clothes? What did I miss in the last five minutes?ā
āNothing.ā You shake your head. āHe texted me a few days ago telling me I needed to wear black so we could match and I told him I didnāt have anything. So he brought me his hoodie. Iām giving it back right after our interference and getting some new clothes tomorrow.ā
She held a weird grin on her face before she looked down at her phone. āMmkay.ā She chuckled.
āWhat?ā You peered your eyes at her.
āNothing itās just- itās funny.ā She shrugged.
āWhat is?ā
āThe fact that you pretend to be so annoyed by him but youāre willingly going to wear his hoodie.ā She pointed at the clothing on the table. āItās funny.ā
āI donāt pretend to be so annoyed by him. He actually does annoy me. I tried to be his friend but heās so hot and cold all the time. He will be a decent person one minute and an asshole the next, itās exhausting.ā You rambled, making sure she got the point but judging by the smirk on her face, she didnāt buy it.
āRight.ā She nodded. āWell itās almost nine. You should be meeting up with lover boy for your interference in a few minutes.ā She teased, earning another roll of your eyes as you stood up from the table with a huff. āDonāt forget his hoodie.ā She said before you snatched it up and headed out of catering.
He wasnāt there when you got to the gorilla but you knew heād show soon. The directors were standing by, seemingly waiting for Hook so they could send you both out at the right time.
You took that time to toss the hoodie on, and it did nothing at all for your figure. It was far baggier than you expected, so much that the sleeves swallowed your hands.
You heard footsteps behind you tracking fast and turned to face the man in question. He took one look at you and his lips turned up in a smirk he was clearly trying to hide.
āThis thing is huge on me.ā You deadpan.
āI told you to cut it.ā He reminds you. Then he reaches down to the ends of the sleeves and rolls them up so your hands are exposed. āCanāt fight if you donāt have fists.ā
You stared at him while he rolled the other sleeve up. When your hands were exposed you pulled your hair out of the hood and did your best to make yourself decent before the music hit. As much as you could given the circumstances, at least.
Tyler held his gaze on you for a moment longer before he tore it away the moment your eyes connected, looking down at the floor and fluffing his hair. For once, you matched. Youād noticed his gold cross pendant he was wearing and remembered the one you had on yourself.
āFunny.ā You said dryly. āI have one too.ā
You pulled the necklace out from under the hoodie and laid it against your chest. He looked down and nodded. āI noticed.ā He said, just as your music hit.
You turned around and got ready for your first appearance leading up to a heel turn. You didnāt want to psych yourself out about it, but you felt a little nervous.
āNever thought Iād be coming out to this type of song.ā He commented from behind you.
āItāll be changing soon, evidently.ā You muttered before heading down the tunnel.
Anna was staring at the stage when you and Hook came through the tunnel. He threw on his best scowl and it made it a little easier for you to mimick him. Jack came racing up the ramp, hook moving you to the side before he lunged towards Perry.
He snatched the belt clean from jacks hands and tossed it over to you. The crowd went completely and utterly insane as the boys backed down the ramp, throwing punches everywhere they could visibly see of each otherās bodies.
You raced towards the ring as anna was sliding out of it, calling jacks name over and over in an attempt to get him away from hook, and as soon as she had noticed you getting close, she turned around and you slammed the title into the side of her head like sheād done to you weeks prior.
She fell to the floor and Jack immediately rushed to her aid, screaming and cursing you and Hook as you held up the title and shouted back, āThis is gonna be his. You just wait! It was always his!ā
A proud smirk from hook was caught on camera but you didnāt get to see it. He knew that there were no lines to this. You just came up with something and the fast thinking was what really got him.
Jack then got up to his feet and raced towards you both, but hook stepped in front of you and held his arm out, blocking Perry from getting any closer.
On commentary, everyone was eating the whole situation up.
āLooks like the coldhearted handsome devil has made quite an impact on Y/N!ā Excalibur shouted through his headpiece. āThis is wild!ā
āThat it is my friend. I said it from the start. Those two are an absolute force to be reckoned with. God help jack and Anna. Wouldnāt wanna be those clowns right now.ā Taz chuckled.
You and hook walked back up to the stage and just before you were about to head through the face tunnel, he grabbed your wrist and nodded his head to the left.
You looked up at him, realizing it was happening this soon. You heard the commotion from thousands around the second you let him lead you through to the heel side, in your mind, you made it official. You were no longer the babyface youād been for over a year. The transition was starting faster than youād expected but, it felt a tad bit easier to have someone doing it with you.
āThatās not a shock to me. I could see that coming with those two. Bonnie and Clyde of AEW.ā tony announced from commentary.
āY/N and Hook have made their impression here tonight, and theyāre just getting started boys.ā
You couldnāt deny that you had an adrenaline rush running ramped. He turned around to let you catch up to him before you entered the hallway.
āHowād it feel?ā He asked.
At that moment you almost felt thankful to him for pitching the heel turn idea to Tony in the first place but then you remembered how he kept it from you for weeks. Either way you were able to not let that bother you for the time being.
āKind of exhilarating. Did you hear that crowd?ā You say as you round the corner. Thereās looks being sent your way from multiple talent. In your mind itās judgement but in all actuality theyāre wondering how long you and Hook have been hooking up on the low.
āYeah, they loved it.ā He says. He walked a little slower than usual. Usually he was ready to get to the shower but he didnāt mind talking to you a little before that today. He wouldnāt tell you that though.
āI didnāt expect it.ā You say. Just then someone calls your name. You turn around and find that itās Ricky. He reaches his hand out to dap hook up but his eyes stay on you.
āThat was fucking crazy what you did out there.ā He tells you, making a grin spread across your lips. āI never expected you to turn heel, especially not with my man Hook.ā He throws his arm around hooks shoulders, and he stiffens them immediately.
āNext time youāre on I need a heads up so I can watch in the viewing room. Both of you.ā He looks at Hook who suddenly has a stiff jaw. He picked up on a vibe Ricky was emitting and he didnāt like it. He didnāt know why but he wanted to get you away from him.
āThanks Ricky.ā You smiled before he nodded his head and gave Hook a pat on his back. āGood choice man.ā
You didnāt miss the way hooks eyes followed him all the way down the hall. He suddenly looked like he reverted right back to the version of him you had an unfortunate encounter with weeks ago.
āYou okay?ā You asked, but he didnāt look at you until Ricky was out of his sights. Then he turned back started walking. You followed close behind, reaching for his arm when you realize you were being ignored.
āHeyā you stopped him. He turned to face you but kept his head down, staring at the floor. āWhy do you suddenly look so mad? What just happened?ā
āIām not.ā He picked his head up. You could see it on his face. It was clear as day whether he wanted it to be or not.
āYou are though.ā You attested. āDid he do something to you? I thought you were friends.ā
āCan you drop it?ā He quickly cut in with a sharp tone. You took a step back, almost feeling like his words forcefully pushed you away. He noticed the distance you put in and his eyes seemed to have softened, but only for a mere second.
He turned back towards the hall and muttered, āsee you next week, Y/N.ā Before, once again, he left you there watching him go.
āāā-
āClearly jealous.ā Willow nods dramatically.
āObviously.ā Skye agrees.
āThatās hard for me to believe.ā You tell them as you adjust your ring gear. You had a segment to shoot tonight in the ring. It was going to be the first time you actually talked in front of the crowd and you were beyond anxious about it. Tyler was going to be in the ring with you but he wasnāt going to say anything and the fact that you hadnāt spoken to him since that last conversation made you even more nervous.
āBecause he wants you.ā Willow smirked. āAnd if you havenāt already heard, everyone is talking about it.ā
āWhoās everyone?ā You asked as you strapped the laces on your new shoes. It was going to be a little difficult to break in another pair but you assumed that was the price you pay when you turn heel and canāt wear bright, glorious colors anymore.
That was the whole reason you donned an all black attire tonight. Black nails to match. It was never something you expected to wear but if you were going to be a heel you were going to rock it.
āEveryone as in everyone in this building right now.ā Willow says. āPeople keep wondering how long youāve been secretly hooking up under everyoneās nose.ā
āBut weāre not.ā
āNot yet.ā Skye points. āI give it two more weeks and youāre going to send us a picture from his room.ā
āI give it one and a half.ā
You rolled your eyes and stood up from the bench. āItās not gonna happen. Itās nothing like that.ā
āThen why did he suddenly get all weird when Ricky came up to you?ā Willow raised her brows. āSkye, please tell me, why would a man do that?ā
āBecause heās jealous. Because he wants you.ā She answered, and you shook your head back.
āWhatever. I have to go. I have a segment in the ring in about ten minutes.ā
āGood luck. Weāll be watching from the viewing room.ā Willow calls out as you head through the door.
To your surprise, Tyler was already waiting for you when you reached the gorilla. To his surprise, you looked like a certified heel. The new attire and dark makeup, it looked way too natural on you.
He had on that signature black hoodie which reminded you of the one you had laying across your bed that you forgot to give back to him.
āShit, I forgot I still have your hoodie.ā You blurted, watching his dark eyes linger down to your attire before they made their way back to your face.
āTold you to keep it.ā He said. It was clear he was in another one of his moods again tonight. It was really starting to bother you how he switches so fast, but right now the last thing you needed was to get in an argument and forget your lines. This time you knew you had them memorized thanks to staying up until three am studying them.
āIāll give it back next time I see you.ā You mumbled before music started playing and a song he recognized, but not as your own reached his ears.
āYou changed the music?ā He asked as he stepped to the side to let you lead.
āIām a heel now, remember?ā
You slid past him and made your way out. It was strange knowing you could no longer interact with the fans. Usually youād blow a kiss or tag their hands but now you practically ignored them. At least they were engaged and supportive of this new you, so it seemed. Or maybe they were just going crazy over the two of you. Either way, you werenāt the ones getting booād.
You plastered a scowling look on your face and tried to keep it there as you made your way to the ring. Hook followed closely behind you, trying not to bob his head to your music.
You slid under the ropes and he took the steps, but you both met back in the middle. You took a minute to take in the reactions from the crowd. It was something you had to try hard not to smile about. Which was going to take some work.
Tony Schiavone handed you a mic and you snatched it from his hand, all for the dramatics, of course.
āLadies and gentlemen, if you havenāt already noticed, youāre looking at two of the absolute best AEW has ever had to offer you.ā You pointed at Hook who nodded his head, stepping side to side on his feet.
You werenāt being booād, which came as a thrill to you. If they were eating it up you just wanted to give them more.
āWhen Anna Jay and Jack Perry made the unfortunate decision to target us, we made the decision to fight back, and what you saw last week when I knocked that bitch out with Hookās FTW title-ā you paused to make sure the fans were taking it all in, āIt was just the beginning.ā
You looked over at Hook who continued to nod, chewing on a piece of gum as his eyes scanned the crowd.
āAnd when Anna recovers from that blow to the head she took from me, Iāll be waiting. And as for Jack, wellā you chuckled darkly as you nodded towards your partner, āLetās just say Hook was some fun things planned for him.ā
He looked over at you, and you could see a faint smile on his face before he ran his hand over his lips.
āYou see, I realized something a little while ago. You know, after Anna smashed the FTW title into my head?ā You reminded the crowd of weeks ago.
āItās that being nice gets you used and abused. All the times Iāve let that bitch get away with attacking me, I regret it. I really do, but itās alright, because it will never happen again.ā
The crowd popped when you took a pause, but you had to keep that cold expression on your face.
āSo Anna Jay, Jungleboy, if youāre watching from the hospital, I just want to say, get well soon. Please.ā The camera panned on you and you shot a mischievous grin before you dropped the mic and heard the crowd scream their lungs out.
Your music hit and Hook walked over to the ropes, holding one up for you to slip through.
You headed towards the stage, trying not to let a smile break out. You felt his arm brush yours as he walked alongside you.
When you disappeared through the tunnel you huffed out a deep breath. āFuck that was exciting.ā You chuckled as you placed your hand over your racing heart.
āFun isnāt it?ā He asked as he squeezed into the space next to you.
āYeah, really fun.ā You said before rounding the corner to find Skye standing there. Her match was next but youād forgotten that in the mix of everything. Her eyes lingered to the man next to you before they fell to you with a smirk plastering her face.
āThat was hot.ā She remarked as she walked up to you. Tyler stopped when you did, to your surprise and Skyeās.
āYou think it was good?ā You asked.
āIt was perfect. You are doing the damn thing, isnāt she hook?ā
You could see what she was doing and tried to send her a look but her eyes were on him instead.
āYeah, she did real good.ā He nodded. Thatās when she looked at you again and caught the look you sent.
āYou two are a good duo. Canāt wait to see what comes next.ā She ran her hand over your arm before she brushed past you.
Tyler looked back down at you and you hoped he didnāt pick up on Skyeās insinuations. He did, but he didnāt mention it.
He started walking when you did, and again, you saw all the people around with their eyes on the two of you. You wondered if Skye and Willow were right. Did everyone think you and Tyler were hooking up? And if so, why? You didnāt think you gave that impression at all. It was just acting, like Tyler told you.
Truth is that Tyler had been approached quite a few times, being asked about you more often than not. He never gave anyone a straight answer, which obviously left them to make their own assumptions.
āEveryone keeps staring.ā You whispered.
āTheyāll do that.ā He muttered back.
You were heading towards the locker room when Jeff Hardy came around a corner, a smile brought to his and Hookās face when they saw each other.
āWhatās up man.ā Jeff greeted, āAnd maāam.ā
āWhatās upā hook nodded.
Jeffās eyes adverted between the two of you, then landed back on Hook. āWhen are we gonna see this duo beat some ass?ā He asked, āIām ready for it.ā
āWhenever Tony calls the shot.ā Hook shrugged. āIām ready too. I think we both are.ā He glanced at you. Jeff brought a full fledged smile to Hookās face pretty easily. One you hadnāt seen from him in all the weeks youād been around him.
āItās highly anticipated. From a lot of people, actually.ā Jeff chuckles and hook drops his head, seeming to try to hide that smile that you evidently caught.
āWe can tell.ā He says.
Jeffās eyes switch back to you again before he looks back at Hook. Both men were grinning from ear to ear as if they had some sort of secret telepathy going on.
āAlright well Iāll see you around brother, and you maam.ā He nodded his head and you nodded back.
āAlright bro.ā Hook said before Jeff walked around the two of you.
āBest friend?ā You teased, watching as he brought his hand to his mouth, physically wiping away that smile.
āSomething like that, yeah.ā He said as the two of you made your way towards your respected rooms.
āKind of cool how everyone likes our heel turn. I thought weād get hate for it.ā
āWe still might, but itāll be alright.ā He shrugged. You reached the end of the hall that branches off into two opposing directions and it hit you that this was the first time he hadnāt left you standing in the middle of it.
He stopped and turned to face you, adjusting the collar of his hoodie.
āYou did good out there.ā He tells you, surprisingly. āYou should think so too.ā
You were somewhat dumbfounded at the fact that he actually complimented you without underlying sarcasm. You smiled even though you didnāt mean to, assuming your lips had a mind of their own.
āThanks.ā You say as you suddenly feel the air getting thick, but not as suffocating as usual.
Hook nodded before his eyes adverted to the empty hall behind you. He didnāt have anywhere to really be, but he told you he did.
āIām gonna go shower.ā He lied for no reason. You just nodded. You felt your hands clamming up, sweat spreading across your palms and didnāt like it.
āAlright well, see you next week?ā You didnāt know why you asked. Of course youād see him next week. Itās been like that for a while now.
āYeah.ā He nodded before he brushed past you, heading one way while you headed the other.
āāāā
A text from Tony at eleven in the morning got your attention that following Saturday.
āThis is it. Big match Wednesday.ā Was all it said.
It felt like youād anticipated this whole thing for so long and now that it was coming you werenāt sure how to feel. You stared down at the message until another one came through, but not on the group chat.
āyou ready?ā He asked, clearly referring to Tonyās previous message.
āNo lolā you replied back, but you were being honest.
āyouāre readyā he quickly responded, and all you did was stare at those words for a minute to long.
Why it was making you nervous, you werenāt sure. Probably because it was your biggest match to date and held a lot of value to your current heel run but, what happens next? What happens when you and Hook beat Jack and Anna? Is there even going to be a you and Hook anymore?
Lots of questions were left unanswered because you were too hesitant to ask them. You just decided to play it by ear, but the thought of a heel run all on your own wasnāt very appealing to you. As much as you didnāt want to admit it, having Hook alongside you, sort of paving the way for all your antics made things less worrisome and a lot more fun for you.
You truly couldnāt picture doing it without him and that alone was something you never expected.
Another text came through and you were surprised to find that it was Skye. She sent you the picture from AEWās instagram account when they announced the tagteam match on Wednesday.
āThis is your biggest match yet girl. Iām so proud of you. Youāre gonna kill it!ā
You smiled down at your phone and typed a couple hearts back. The support you had made things a little easier but your nerves were still trying to get the best of you, and you assumed it was going to be that way until the match was over.
āāāā
It was anticipated and highly talked about all over the internet. You were constantly being tagged on twitter, instagram and TikTok. It seemed like the whole world was awaiting this match and the time had finally come.
You were heading towards the gorilla with a racing heart. You kept trying to tell yourself that this was just like any other match, any other opponent but it wasnāt. It was your first match as a heel, first match as a tagteam and longest tv time to date. You had a couple moves you were expected to pull that you never had before and there was very little familiarity around the entire situation.
āHeyā you heard a deep voice from behind you. You turned around to find Ricky standing there.
āHeyā you smiled, adjusting your black wristbands.
āGood luck on your match tonight. Just wanted to say that.ā He grinned, and it was then that you picked up on a vibe that you werenāt all that into. You took a small step back but kept your politeness.
āThanks, I appreciate it.ā You say. Before you can turn back, he asks another question. One that catches you off guard.
āHey, are you and hook like, a thing?ā
Your brows knitted together but you wiped that look away quickly. You were about to respond when you felt eyes on you, and just like all the times before, you knew Hook was around.
Rickyās eyes adverted above your head and thatās when you felt warmth radiating against your back.
āY/N, you ready?ā His deep voice reached you, making your heart flutter for some reason.
He held his eyes on Ricky as you turned around to face him. You could see that familiar expression like before. Jaw set and teeth clenched. It was then that you realized Skye and Willow were right. Hook was jealous. He didnāt get that way at all when Jeff approached the two of you. It was just Ricky.
You spared the man a glance over your shoulder and caught the disappointment on his face, but you couldnāt take enough time to think about it when you had a match in a few minutes.
āWhat was he talking to you about?ā Hook muttered next to you.
You felt a little nervous to say it, but when his eyes landed on you, it urged you to tell him.
āHe wished me luck on the match andā¦ he asked if we were a thing.ā
His jaw throbbed and you caught it, but by the time that happened you were already reaching the gorilla.
What you didnāt know was that Ricky had been coming up to him asking the same thing, and at one point he expressed that he wanted to ask you to go out with him. He thought he made it clear when he glared the man down but evidently he didnāt make it clear enough. Either that or Ricky just didnāt care, which was what Hook was now figuring on.
He knew he couldnāt get distracted. A lot was riding on this match for you and he didnāt want to ruin that. He pushed the thoughts out of his head and turned to face you instead.
āReady?ā He asked, but he could tell that you were anxious. You still had those wide, round eyes that reminded him of a puppy and as much as you might be good at playing a heel, you just werenāt that person on the inside.
āReady as I can be.ā You nodded, attempting to collect yourself.
Jackās music was almost finished and you knew that meant it was time for you and Hook to come out. You took in a deep breath and he noticed that it was shaky.
āSomething that helps me when I feel under pressure is thinking about the look on the faces of all the people who ever doubted me when they have to watch me prove them wrong.ā He blurted, shrugging a shoulder.
You thought on that. Remembering back when you first came to AEW and had no foothold in the industry. All the mean, offensive things youād heard about yourself start replaying over and over again in your mind and to your surprise, you felt a little bit of adrenaline surge.
āThatās helpful, actuallyā you tell him, noticing the right side of his mouth tipping upwards.
Just then, the intro of Chairmanās Intent boomed through the speakers and Hook nodded. āRemember that if you get nervous.ā
You nodded back before he stepped to the side, as he usually did, to let you lead the way.
You headed out with him trailing right behind you and held your eyes on both Anna and Jack standing in the ring, amping each other up.
The glares being shared between the four of you was making for great tensions arising in the arena and the crowd was intensely engaged in all of it, which made you happy, of course, but you couldnāt show that.
You headed in one direction and he headed in the other, you both circling the ring with eyes on your opponents.
When you passed each other, he held his hand out. You tagged it as you walked past and that simple interaction had the crowd bursting with cheers.
You met up at the steel steps and he stepped back, waving you to go first. You stepped up onto the canvas and slipped between the ropes, Hook following. He didnāt lean against the turnbuckles like he usually did but you assumed that was because this wasnāt one of his typical matches. He stayed at your side and shot daggers to jack and Anna.
You and Anna were going first. You walked up to her, showing no signs of intimidation as you stood toe to toe. She smirked down at you before forcefully pushing you a foot back, making you stumble before you caught your footing.
You wiped that grin off of her face when you delivered a harsh slap to her cheek and from that point on, the two of you were rolling around the ring, throwing fists and kneeing ribs until Paul said it was enough.
You put some separation between you two and thatās when she tagged Jack, so you went to your corner where hook was waiting with an extended hand, eyeing you as you approached.
āYou good?ā
āIām goodā you slapped his hand and he hopped over the top rope, lunging towards back with a force that knocked him off his feet.
The crowd went wild at his explosiveness and the energy in the arena was absolutely riveting. It couldāve given you a high at that point.
You watched as Hook clotheslined jack right over the ropes, and when he hit the floor, Anna hopped off of the canvas. Hook jumped down and grabbed jack by his hair, but thatās when Anna came behind him and jabbed her elbow into the side of his neck, bringing him down to his knees.
You hopped down and raced over, grabbing her from behind and spinning her until she slammed into the barricades. Hook watched for a moment before he returned his attention to jack.
The two of them were back in the ring while you and Anna threw punches on the outside.
She was way more aggressive than you were, making you feel the urge to hit a little harder. You heard Hook shouting and you both looked up, finding that Jack had used Hookās redrum against him, but Hook was trying to fight it, and failing.
You kicked Anna back and created enough space to slide under the ropes and break the hold. Hook fell to his knees and jack rose to his feet, walking you back towards the turnbuckles before you felt annas hands around your ankles and your face crashed into the canvas.
You lifted your head to see blood stains dripping from your mouth. Your tongue slid over your teeth to see if one was broken but all you tasted was metallic.
You glanced up to see Hookās eyes on you. He was in the middle of getting jack ready for a German Suplex when he got distracted by the blood pouring from your busted lip.
He snapped back into it and slung jack over, then got back to his feet like he didnāt take a harsh landing himself and walked over to you.
Kneeling down, he scanned every inch of your face. This wasnāt planned and you both knew that. There was concern in his eyes that quickly turned into undoubted rage when jack grabbed Hookās shoulders from behind and slammed him down to the canvas.
It was only then that he realized you were bleeding but by that time, it was too late for him.
Hook rose up quickly and threw his fists into jacks jaw. He stumbled back, falling against the turnbuckles and hook just didnāt stop.
Paul had to separate the two, and you when he did, Jack shouted out, āI didnāt know she was bleeding man!ā
You got back up and saw the look on Annaās face when she noticed all the blood leaving a trail from your lip to your chin. She didnāt mean it, and you werenāt mad. Accidents happened all the time, itās a part of the business.
Hookās eyes followed you as you walked around the ring back over to your corner, and tensions seemed to have died down when he saw that you were okay.
You held your hand out for him, knowing you and Anna were the ones finishing the match and he hesitated a little bit before he tagged you in.
āYou alright?ā He asked, and you nodded before you hopped over the top rope.
Anna lunged foward and you stepped to the side, letting her slam into the turnbuckle. Hook smirked at this, it was a classic move.
You grabbed her by the back of her head and slammed her down on her back, watching as she clutched her neck and rolled around, before you pulled her back up.
You knew what was next and had to remember what Hook said that night that you learned youād be using his finisher to end this match.
Anna was a good bit taller but since you brought a six foot man to his knees, you knew size wasnāt an obstacle.
She turned her back in an attempt to create some distance and you quickly sprung forward and hopped on her. Jack immediately slid under the ropes but thatās when hook raced in and wrapped his arm under his jaw, immediately making him wobbly at the knees.
āLock it in!ā Hook shouted at you as he hopped up and wrapped his legs around jacks waist, effectively bringing him down to the canvas.
You dug your knees into Annaās sides and reared back, holding on tight when your back hit the canvas and within only seconds, they both tapped out and Hookās music bursted through the arena, though it wasnāt too easy to hear over the eruption of the crowd.
You kicked Annaās limp body off of you and looked up to see Hookās extended hand. You took it, helping you to your feet before he held both your hands in the air.
His eyes wouldāve been scanning the arena but they were focused on the blood smearing your skin instead. He nodded towards the tunnels and you lead the way, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand, and feeling the sting of an open wound.
āThat was a hell of a match right there boysā taz exclaimed from commentary.
āThat it was, taz, those two know how to bring the energy to an arenaā tony chipped in.
āIāll tell you what, I wasnāt too thrilled about the new attitude from Y/N at first, but sheās toughened up a lot since her and Hook teamed up.ā Excalibur adds.
āHeās coldhearted and sheās following in his footsteps I guessā tony chuckled
āNo, Iāll tell you this much. Iāve had many, many conversations with the coldhearted handsome devil and with Y/N myself and those two simply have like minds, like-personalities and like-spirits. We shouldāve seen this one coming boys, it was bound to happen.ā
As soon as the arena was behind you, you felt his hand on your shoulder, turning you to face him. His eyes were trained on the laceration but you quickly covered it with your hand.
āItās fineā you tell him. You wanted to continue feeling the rush that the big win gave you, wondering why he didnāt seem excited at all.
āI donāt care about the cut, Iām too pumped up right nowā you tell him as you head through the tunnel with a little pep in your step.
āItās deep.ā He says as he catches up. āI think you should go make sure you donāt need stitchesā
āItās just a cut, itās fine Tyler.ā
Accidentally once again, you said his real name. Once again, he felt a little taken back by it, but tried not to show it.
āItās bleeding a lot.ā He keeps on, like it hasnāt stopped at all.
You wiped the blood with the back of your hand and he grabbed your wrist to show you the crimson covering your skin. āThat is a lot.ā
āIāve had worse, seriously. Iāll just go wash my face and hold a gauze to it for a couple minutes and itāll stop.ā
Before he could object again, Skye and Willow were both racing up to you. Their arms engulfed you and you felt the giddiness arising within you again. You glanced over at Tyler who was watching the whole group hug with an evident, proud looking smile.
āYou are the baddest fucking bitchā Skye says when they unwrap their arms. āThat shit was so good I would watch it a hundred times!ā
You couldnāt contain the smile breaking out, and thatās when Willow asks, āDoes your mouth hurt? That was a nasty fall.ā
āYeah but she got up and kept fighting cause sheās a bad fucking bitchā Skye grins.
āItās fine, I donāt even feel it Iām too happy right nowā you say as you glance back over to see that Tyler was no longer there. Your eyes adverted all around but he had disappeared elsewhere.
āCāmon, weāre gonna get you cleaned up.ā Willow grabs your hand and pulls you along. āOh, and weāre going out tonight to celebrate you.ā
āāāā
You stumbled through the hotel doors at one in the morning, wobbly on your feet with willow and Skye by your side. Youād went out to a bar on the north side of town and downed way too many drinks that you could actually remember but you were still on a high from your match that you didnāt even realize how drunk you actually were.
You were all three laughing amongst yourselves about nothing in particular when you caught sight of Taz coming out of the hotel gym.
He had an amused smirk on his face when he approached the three of you.
āLadies, looks like you had a good time tonight.ā He said as he eyed all three of you before focusing on you specifically.
āYou took a nasty fall, Y/N, my son was just telling me about how you were too stubborn to get it checked out.ā He chucked. Thatās when your eyes lingered over to the gym doors.
āYeah but itās fineā you slurred. āI was so pumped I didnāt even feel a thing.ā
āBe careful about that adrenaline rush, it can sneak up on you sometimesā he said.
āOkay. Is he in there?ā You pointed to the gym, stumbling a little bit.
āTyler? Yeah, he always does his workouts at this ungodly hour.ā
When you heard that, thatās all your attention was focused on. You looked over and Skye and Willow who already knew what you were thinking, but they didnāt say anything except, āWell see you tomorrow girlā
Taz eyed you before a smirk came to his face and he shook his head with a low laugh. āAlright, Iām off to my room. Tell my son he needs to stop calling me down to the gym at anytime past midnight and call his tagteam partner from now on instead.ā
You nodded, a smile willingly spreading across your lips before you headed towards the gym. You opened the door to find him sitting on the weight bench staring down at his phone, and right as you saw that, your phone buzzed in your pocket.
He looked up at you, brows knitted but with amusement in his eyes.
āThatās weird, I just texted you. Do you teleport now?ā He asked, then cringed to himself. That was stupid, why did he say that?
You chuckle nonetheless as you stumbled in, thinking you werenāt noticeably drunk but it was way more obvious than you thought.
āHave fun?ā He asked as he watched you head over to the bench across from his and sit down.
āI didā you grinned sheepishly. āItās been such a good day, actually.ā
He nodded back, eyes lingering to the laceration on your bottom lip that was already healing.
āI just ran into your dadā you tell him, swaying side to side.
āDid you?ā He smirks, and you wished your vision wasnāt so blurry.
āYeah, said to tell you stop calling him down here so late and call your tag team partner insteadā you hiccuped.
He dropped his head. āOf course he didā he said as he shook it. You watched as he ran his hand through his hair and fluffed it out.
āHeyā you catch his attention.
āHeyā he says back.
āWhatās coming next?ā You asked the question thatās been running through your mind for a couple of days leading up to the match. āYou know, we won tonight. The rivalry doesnāt really have anywhere else to go. So what does that mean for us? Are we done being partners now that weāve beat them? I mean I know you still have the FTW title to win back, and I can be there ringside for itā¦ if you wantedā
His eyes dropped to your fingers fidgeting over your lap.
āI donāt really know. What do you want to happen?ā He asked, knowing already that he has thought about this same exact thing and the idea of the two of you no longer being a duo didnāt sit right with him, but he hadnāt mentioned anything to Tony and Tony hasnāt said anything else either.
āI want things to stay like they areā you admitted with another hiccup. āWe have fun, donāt we?ā
He had to keep in mind that you were drunk and now probably wasnāt the best time to take anything you said to heart, but it was hard for him not to.
āYeah, we do.ā He nods.
āSo letās call Tony and tell him weāre going to keep doing this heel run togetherā you pulled out your phone and read the text that was floating on your screen from Tyler earlier.
ācan you come to the gym, i want to talk to you about somethingā
āWait, what did want to talk about?ā You asked. He shifted around and straightened his posture as he rubbed his palms over his sweats.
Before he texted you that, he was having a talk with his dad about you. It wasnāt often that Tyler came to him for advice on women but he didnāt really know who else he could trust.
He admitted that even though he tried to fight against it, heād fallen pretty hard for you and it was starting to eat away at him. He didnāt have the impression that you would feel the same way, even though Taz completely disagreed with him on that.
He told his son that he would bet a million bucks that the feeling was mutual, claiming that a connection like the two of you have is undeniable and if heās ever listened to anything taz told him, it needed to be that.
āYou two remind me of myself and your mother when we were youngā he recalls his dad saying. āWe were too stubborn to admit we had feelings until we got drunk one night and it all spilled outā
āTyler?ā Your voice broke him out of his own thoughts. āWhat did you want to talk to me about?ā
He never had to have a conversation like this before. He never really wanted anyone for more than just a fun night before. His adams apple bobbed as he swallowed thickly and tried to keep his nerves under control.
āI- uh-ā he rubbed the back of his neck as he inhaled deeply. Letting it all out in a quick huff.
āI been thinking a lot about me and you, and I donāt want to stop what weāve been doing, but I do want to start doing moreā he danced around the confession and you couldnāt quite piece it together.
āLikeā¦ how?ā You asked, a little lost.
āI want to be with you.ā He blurted, feeling his cheeks burn the minute the words flew from his mouth. His eyes scanned your face, studying it, searching for a reaction but you were blank faced and for once he couldnāt read you.
āYou want to be with me? Like, be with me?ā You were sure you werenāt hearing him right. Maybe everyone else thought you and Tyler were a thing but you never thought it was actually going to be an option.
āYes, I doā he boldly stated, holding his eyes on you, watching as all the conversations you, Willow and Skye had over the last couple of weeks flashed through your mind and you couldnāt believe they were right the entire time.
āBut if you donāt feel the same way, itās okay, Iāll still do the heel run with you and we can forget I ever said anything.ā He lowly muttered, waiting for what felt like an eternity for you to say anything back.
āOr if youāre already into someone else, like Ricky or something-ā
āIām notā you blurted out. āIām not into anyone else.ā
You couldnāt ignore the way your heart was beginning to race and your skin felt like it was engulfed in a million small fires. You stared back at him, your eyes lingering to his lips when his tongue slid over them.
A bunch of feelings youād suppressed out of sheer denial suddenly came rushing in and it was now impossible to force them back again. All the tensions between the two of you, the anger and the confusion over the last few weeks was quickly diminished by an even stronger feeling of pure anticipation and desire.
The space between the two of you was too much and it was if Tyler had that same thought when he stood up from the weight bench and extended his hand. You took it, and he helped you to your feet.
You were unsure what to do with your hands when he let go but it became easy to find a place for them to rest on his waist when his finger curled beneath your chin, angling your head up, lips wouldāve been brushing against each other if you were just a little taller.
His eyes were soft and a sprinkle of hazel appeared against the dark brown, and you realized you never noticed that before now.
He took in every inch of your face with a slow and meaningful gaze before an easy smile spread across his lips and a dimple soon followed.
You felt butterflies erupt in your stomach and spread through your whole body when he leaned in. You rose to you tip toes and your lips met gently, slowly, and tenderly. The way they fit like two pieces of a puzzle, moving in sync and pure harmony had your head spinning.
The taste of mint lingered on your tongue long after his lips were no longer on yours and you didnāt want it to vanish anytime soon.
He looked at you with eyes of adoration, his fingers slipping from your chin and pulling you into his chest. You buried your face into the fabric of his t-shirt, taking in the scent of cologne that you recognized from his hoodie you never gave back to him, and thatās when you remembered it.
āI still have your hoodie.ā You chuckled, feeling his chest rise and fall with a low chuckle of his own.
āKeep it. Itās yours. Itās been yours since I gave it to you.ā
āāā-
From that night in the hotel room gym on, you and Tyler were always together at the arena and outside of it. Your heel run was going strong. You were an undefeated tagteam that nobody wanted to step in the ring with.
After two weeks of keeping your love life on the low, he decided he wanted everyone to know. You were walking back from another successful match, standing on the stage when he grabbed your hand and spun you to him, placing a kiss to your lips that made the whole arena erupt in screams and chants of your conjoined names the fans came up with.
āBet nobody saw that comingā Tony sarcastically remarked from commentary. āAEWās modern day Bonnie and Clydeā
āLooks like you need to set an extra plate at the table when the holidays roll around, Taz.ā
āIāll gladly do that my friend.ā Taz grinned as he watched you and hook exit through the tunnel.
āWeāve never seen the coldhearted handsome devil show any sort of emotion whatsoeverā¦ except with her!ā Excalibur exclaims.
āGuess heās not so coldhearted after allā Tony chips in.
āOh no, heās coldhearted son, but not towards her. Everyone else including myself gets the cold shoulder from my man, but sheās something special to him.ā
Tyler walked you to the locker room and leaned against the wall. A soft smile stays on his face whenever the cameras arenāt around now.
āYou looked gorgeous slamming Brittās head into the canvas.ā He taunts, earning a laugh from you.
āThanks, I didnāt really tryā you bantered back.
āNever have to.ā He grins as he leans in and brushes his lips against yours before they fully connect.
āEveryone knows nowā he says when you pull apart.
āThey probably already did. Weāve been caught making out a lotā you remind him, earning that dimple you love so much to appear.
āTrue. Iām glad we donāt have to hide it anymore. I can officially call you mine.ā He grins.
You place another gentle kiss to his lips before you whisper against them, āIāve been yours this whole timeā

chapter 14: genius
IRL, INSTAGRAM!
āhi, y/n and iām here today with genius to explain the lyrics of my song ākill billā.ā you smiled at the camera.
āso, fun fact about kill bill is that it actually only took about 6 hours to produce. i, uh-ā you laughed. āi saw this thing online and it made me feel some type of way, and i was like āi need to release what i feel right now.ā so, i took out my songbook and went crazy. i called up my friend jean, my producer, and i was crying,ā you laughed again, and made a phone gesture with your hand and brought it up to your ear. āand i was like, ābro i just wrote these lyrics, can we make a song right now?ā and we did, in like 6 hours.ā
VERSE 1
iām still a fan even though i was salty
hate to see you with some other broad, know you happy
hate to see you happy if iām not the one driving
āthe person that this song is about is actually also an artist, and heās actually really talented. so basically, i was saying that even though i hate that nigga,ā you stuck up your middle finger. āheās still a great artist, unfortunately. the next two lines are literal, uh, about a month, maybe a month and a half after we broke up, he was posted up with another girl. which was honestly really shitty because he broke up with me to āfocus on his musicāā you quirked your eyebrow and used quotation marks. ābasically this whole song is about me being a jealous heartbroken bitch.ā you sarcastically smiled.
PRE-CHROUS
iām so mature, iām so mature
iām so mature, got me a therapist to tell me thereās other men
i donāt want none, i just want you
if i canāt have you, no one should
i might
āi was tryna convince myself that i was strong, and that this wasnāt hurting me as much as i thought it was, but it definitely was. literally wrote a whole muthafucking song about it.ā you laughed. āwe weāre dating for a long ass time to be honest, so with the āi donāt want none, i just want youā lyric, itās basically saying that iāve been with you for so fucking long, itās always been you, how am i supposed to move on, yāknow? itās lowkey corny but yeah. the last lyric is very um, yandere simulator vibes but it relates to the theme of the song, which is like jealousy and vengeance and possession.ā you put your hands up. ādonāt worry yāall, iām not a criminal.ā
CHORUS
i might kill my ex, not the best idea
his new girlfriend's next, how'd i get here?
i might kill my ex, i still love him though
rather be in jail than alone
āi can explain yāall, iām not a killer or a criminal but imma be real, i was definitely having some intrusive thoughts. but everyone does. like, anyone who says theyāve never had thoughts about hurting someone that did them dirty, or fucked with them, theyāre fucking lying, 100%. and relating to what i said before, we were together for so long. no matter how much i try to deny, the love is still there. itās been built up for years, as much as i want to, i canāt magically forget it overnight.ā
you continued on with singing the lyrics and explaining them until you completely finished the entire song.
ākill bill was an impulsive creation and release. we recorded and finished the song in like 6 hours, and i was like āi want to release this todayāā you pointed downwards. ābut everyone told me no.ā you rolled your eyes. āso i asked when was the soonest we could release it, and it was like in 2 days. so the next day i posted on instagram saying that i was releasing a song tomorrow and that was it. there was no promo for it, which is why iām so fucking shocked that it did so well. but, thank you to my fans, friends and family, i love you all. stream kill bill, album coming soon, bye!ā you blew a kiss to the camera, before smiling and making heart with your hands.

Goodbye to a World
reading between the lines of the various goodbyes and dismissals to logan sargeant
Pt. 1: Williams App
full series
i donāt have to say a whole lot about the end of july. the wait is over! our second seat for 2025! carlosās video which was professional and respectful and obligatory. williams garageās video, which was appalling and shameful and disgraceful. we remember, we were there. something to recall, thoughā you guys remember how there was NO logan announcement? like NONE? we scoured social media like we were stalking our ex and there was nothing?
so we thoughā or at least, so i thought. i didnāt find the official logan departure announcement until weeks later, and iām going to have to do this off the top of my head since in the past few days itās been taken down, but i finally fucking found itā itās in the williams app. hard to find because you have to scroll through five or six videos first, all under the category:
every time i genuinely think okay, this time it really canāt get worse, we smash through rock bottom like itās a chassis in australia and hit another. even looking at this old screenshot makes my blood boil. iām not going to be very coherent so letās just break this down and phrase all the fuck-ups in a list:
- the only way to find the message is if you have the app. if you PARTICIPATE IN MORE TEAM MARKETING/PROMOTION PLATFORMS. you have to have an account, too. sainz gets eight posts on every single social the team can admin at once, including links, but loganās post is essentially an easter egg.
- loganās goodbye post isnāt its own post, itās included in the sainz category. he doesnāt even get to be an individual figure leaving the team; heās an event, heās a side effect, just a domino tipped by another much more important decision. the end of his entire future is a footnote. itās causation. itās collateral.
- his cute lil article? itās titled Thank you, Logan: His Williams Journey. itās not even titled about logan. itās williams saying āhey! look at us lovely guardian angels š see how we took this poor little bird under our wings š weāre so philanthropic and generous š read along and find out all the amazing things we did for our little buddy!ā itās promo. itās propaganda. in the midst of their announcement that heās being kicked to the curb they take the opportunity to pat themselves on the back for everything theyāve done for him. itās not enough to bury him alive, they had to dance on his grave too.
- i think thereās a good chance a robot wrote this. either that or they picked the most unoriginal journalist they could find.
thatās just humiliating. a thirteen year old on wattpad describing someoneās eyes as cerulean orbs makes a more captivating point than this.
- james consonants has one quote in the article. heās the only one whoās quoted. the rest of it is about loganās carer in junior series with williams driver academy. the last sentence is:
this is going to be more relevant in the posts ahead, when jv pops off once again. but can i also say how revolting it is that the message comes from james? when logan gets dropped early the wording gets a little different, but in the initial announcement (if you can even call it that) itās all about james. what james has to say to logan specifically. williamsā whole thing is that theyāre a family team, birds of a feather that stick together, they have each otherās backs and love and friendship and lalala all that bullshit. one would THINK it would be in their best interest to remember who they are. but nope. instead we get james making a point to single himself out so that he alone gets to show off how kind and forgiving and gracious he is to logan and the lack of a team statement gives the implication that the rest of the team didnāt even care. didnāt even notice. of course that isnāt whatās directly communicated but how sloppy and careless can you get with the wording that that message can even be interpreted IN THE FIRST PLACE?
all in all, williams is telling the world:
logan is not even worth effort. itās not enough that theyāre going to abandon his strategy, give him the shittier car, ice him out in his own team, not give his car any upgrades until over halfway through the seasonā¦ theyāre going to make sure we know that he isnāt even worth good writing. the lack of respect and decency and acknowledging someone as a human being with a sentient presence in the world is so severe that even on the fucking internet, where all they literally have to do so much pr and image management, they donāt have the words.
williams is making sure we all know: logan is so worthless heās not worth taking the time to say that heās worthless. they talk about underperformance, and this is the way they treat their team members. their fucking drivers. the faces of the brand.
itās almost comical. itās unbelievable. if someone was writing this in a story and i was proofreading, iād tell them to tone it down, because at this point the antagonist is becoming too villainous to be believable; theyāre a caricature, a parody.
but no. this is actually happening.
(to be continued)

this is re: your tags on a post you rbed forever ago (i'm creepin my way through ur blog to entertain myself while sick asf, hi (and also thanks for posting i guess lol)) so feel freee to just likeā¦ ignore this, BUT i just had to say you are sooo right about soap's death being dumb as fuck š
i'm suuper new to this fandom so idk if it's just because this is something that's been talked to death and that everyone's collectively moved on from, but i've never really seen anyone on here talking about how badly done that whole thing was?? what even was the point of that. like actually
idk if you're familiar with the original games at all, but it's crazy because as bad as it is even just looking at the remake as its own standalone thing, i honestly think it's even worse if you look at it through the lens of it being an adaptation... they literally took out the entire plotline his death was a part of & served to advance but then left in in purely for THE most empty, pointless shock value ever?? it's sooo frustrating
i could go on a whole spiel about this bc its so bad, but i will spare ur inbox all that and just say thank you for validating my irritation about this. you are so right about everything ever <3
hello and welcome! š§” thanks so much! i know i've read some great crits and reactions to soap's death, but i'm failing at remembering specific posts. but on the whole? yeah, soap's death is bad across the board.
obviously, i'm upset that he died at all, but honestly? i could've made peace with it if it didn't feel completely rushed. i haven't played the originals but i know that, considering what happens, major character death was always on the table. but yeah, activision shoved mw3 out the door.
then there's also neil. i'm not a person who stans actors, but he clearly loved being soap. the guy embodied him. did extra promo. engaged with fans. shared so much fanart to his twitter and instagram. it is *bonkers* to me that a company would waste the one actor putting in the extra work like that.
you can rant about this any time. i'm still mad about it lmao.

Oh boy, oh boy, let's talk about AEW showing that All In footage. Daddy's gotta eat!
So firstly, I think the reactions online to this have been quite frankly, and to absolutely nobodies surprise, fucking ridiculous and infested with braindead morons (welcome to wrestling in 2024)
And again, to absolutely nobodies surprise, people have completely missed the point (and how cleverly AEW took advantage of the situation to further its ongoing storylines to produce a brilliant penultimate episode of Dynamite) of why it was even done in the first place.
Because for some bizarre reason, people seem to think CM Punk is beyond criticism and revere him to be some all-knowing all-powerful demi-god of infinite credibility and power, which I personally have never bought into (I've been watching wrestling since 1994 so I've been here before, during and after Punks peak) and quite frankly as far as Punk is concerned, never seen the appeal.
For me, I've always seen this as AEW taking an obvious opportunity being presented before them to fit in what I've been assuming for a long time now, a storylined reason/way to open the door for Jack Perry to come back to AEW as not only a MASSIVE heel, but to join The Elite and become THE heel of AEW (I can fantasy book so much shit from this you need only ask).
My case and point of evidence: the fact they specifically make mention of Jack Perry and his current Scapegoat gimmick on MULTIPLE occasions. He's essentially the focal point on the entire spot. CM Punks face isn't even shown, nor is his name mentioned. AEW needed as mentioned before, a really good throughline for Jack to make a return (interfere at Dynasty to help Nicholas and Matthew win?), to create a nuclear build for the tag match at Dynasty between the Bucks and FTR, to create massive babyface momentum for FTR (again, a perfect opportunity since they're friends with Phil).
And think about it, with the promo FTR cut in the ring after, with the Kaz/Pac/FTR/Bucks clash later in the show and all round how the entire production moves around the moment - EVERYONE was in on this and EVERYONE was in tandem and in agreement with how to proceed with using this.
People want to keep pointing out Tony Schiavones reaction immediately after it. Yes, he's gonna be uncomfortable even if he's in on it all, it was a very uncomfortable situation to relive, but how everyone just moves on from it (exactly like what the whole point of FTRs promo was), he's totally fine and chill about it all.
I thought this entire segment and situation was pretty fucking ingenious and did an absolutely fantastic job of create a rocket-fueled build to the Bucks/FTR tag match at Dynasty.
If you have any issues with this, then sorry to say, bud, that's a YOU problem and you may need to grow up a bit, cause everyone else is totally fine with this and using it to make good business with and are all in total consent with each other about it (I'd even go as far as to say that even Punk is in on this too).
So with that, I'm spent, and I'll bid you adieu.

I Can't Live Without You
One would think that Shawn would defend his girlfriend when an interviewer, a big one, a famous one, completely bashes her and everything that sheās worked so hard for. Well, he didnāt, and it went a little something like this,
āSo your girlfriend, Alex, is a film director yes?ā
āThatās right.ā Shawn smiled.
āWhich, first of all, is a surprise! I saw her film and the whole thing- it was so good, itās like a man couldāve made it!ā
Shawn laughs and nods, āYeah, sheās great.ā
āShe also plays a character in the movie! Who, can I just say, is kind of a slut.ā
āOh how so?ā
Heās not going to say anything about that?! Heās gonna entertain this conversation?! The amount of times she has explained that her character is free-spirited and carefree- all of that torn apart now. All her work, undone.Ā
Just like that.
āWell, her outfits, her dialogue! Even her several partners!ā
She had two. One of them left right in the beginning.
āWow, I mean- yeah! Her character is kind of everywhe-ā
Brian had turned off the TV after that, looking over at Alex whose eyes were glossy now. āAl?ā
āWhy didnāt he defend me?ā She mumbled and went to her room.
That wasnāt it. It wasnāt just one and done.
While he was still on his promo run, more interviewers asked similar questions, about if she was anything like her character (if you know what I mean) and thatās verbatim! Shawn had laughed and said, āWell, what do you think?ā What is that supposed to mean?
Alex was sitting at the dining room table, trying to write a new script, but failing, when Brian came back from his girlfriend Kateās house. āAl, you gotta stay away from the int-ā
āIām trying, but it is plastered everywhere, even on the goddamn TV.ā She said and pointed at the TV in the living room.Ā
Brian sighed and sat next to her, pulling her into a hug, āIām sorry heās such an asshole.ā He mumbled, rubbing her back. Alex let a tear fall out and hugged him back.
āDoes he really not know that what he's saying hurts me?" She mumbled, sniffles leaving her.
Brian squeezed her tighter and kissed her head, "I'll talk to him about it."Ā
"No use. He already made me look like a fucking idiot." She replied, a dry laugh leaving her mouth. "And he's coming back in a few days anyway." She shrugged, Brian nodded and cleared his throat.Ā
The air in the room wasn't as light and fun as it usually is, Brian knew what might come from this. He felt his heart get heavy and he pulled her into another hug.
~
The day Shawn came, he saw that a few things were different, decorations were up and the tree was waiting to be decorated as well. "Hey guys, I'm home!" He yelled out and heard no reply, he huffed and walked around, setting his things down before heading to his and Alex's room. He smiled at the image in front of him, Alex was sleeping peacefully with their big quilt wrapped around her. Shawn chuckled and climbed into bed with her, kissing her cheek and she shifted in her sleep. "Alex, baby wake up." He whispered, Alex groaned and turned away, Shawn pouted and played with her hair, "Did you miss me, baby?" He asked, Alex groaned again.Ā
"Shawn!" Brian exclaimed, having just woken up as well.
"Hey Brian! I just got here!" He whispered,Ā getting up and walking out the room to talk to his best friend.Ā
"I see that. Hey dude, what the fuck?!" Brian whisper yelled, Shawns face dropped and he looked confused.Ā
"What? What'd I do?" He asked and Brian scoffed.
"The fuck do you mean? You fucking dragged your girlfriend through the mud on like, the entire promo run!... Agreeing with the sexist stereotypes that people brought up, not saying anything when people were calling her a slutā¦ do you not hear the words that come out of others mouths? Have you not seen any of the articles posted recently? No one told you anything?"
"No, Alex didn't say anything." Shawn replied, leaning on the back of his couch.
"Well, she shouldn't have to. That's really fucked up, man."Ā
Shawn sighed and thought back on all his interviews recently, have they really been that bad?
About an hour later, Alex woke up and brushed her teeth before greeting Shawn. "Hey, baby!" Shawn grinned, reaching out to hold her hand.
"Hey." She replies, a small smile on her face as she sits down next to him.
"You alright?" He asked, rubbing her shoulder.
"Yeah! I just have to talk to you, but we can do that tomorrow." She shrugged, reaching for the remote.Ā
"O- oh, about what?"Ā
"I feel like you know." She answered simply, flipping through channels, "I don't wanna do it tonight, Shawn. I'm drained."
"I wanna do it now, though."
"Kay, well I don't." She said, Shawn sighed and rubbed his face.
"Alright. Can Iā¦ can I cuddle you?" He asked, opening his arms for her. Alex nodded and leaned into his arms, she kissed his chest quickly before turning back to the tv and choosing something to watch.Ā
Shawn shifted a bit and felt his heart sink at the thought of tomorrow, their "conversation"... what if it leads to something else? Something worse.
When theyāre ready for bed, Alex just simply gets under the covers, mutters a 'Good night' and drifts off to sleep. Shawn frowns and climbs into bed as well, wanting to cuddle her but he decides against it. He falls asleep to the sound of Alex's light breathing and many thoughts of what tomorrow will go like.Ā
The next morning Shawn wakes up to an empty bed and sounds of dishes being washed in the kitchen. He gets up and brushes his teeth before heading to the kitchen, "You didn't have to do those, baby." He says, sitting on the counter behind her.
"It was bothering me." She shrugged, rinsing off a mug she finished using.Ā
āOh okay.ā He said, āSo, I- Iām ready to talk.ā
āYeah? Did Brian tell you anything?ā She questioned, turning to face him.
Where is Brian?
āHeās at Kates by the way.ā She answered, basically reading his mind.
āYeah he did. Told me about all the things that were said in interviews.ā He said looking down at his legs.
āYeah. What was that?ā She asked, crossing her arms. āHow could you let them say that about me?ā
āI- I donāt know. It didnāt seem wrong at the time.ā He answered honestly.
āYou made me look like a fucking idiot. You know how hard I worked to get people to take my work seriously. That was all completely demolished! Have you seen any of the articles lately?ā
Shawn shook his head, āIām sorry.ā He whispered, Alex sighed and pulled out her phone, showing him article after article saying things like āShawn Mendes says his girlfriends movies are a slut showāĀ
āI didnāt say that though!ā
āYou agreed.ā She replied quickly, like she's been thinking of this conversation for days.
She has.
āIt was just some jokes!ā He defended and Alex felt herself give up on him. Why is he mad?
āNot one! Hundreds! You fucking humiliated me!ā She yelled back, āIf I fucking went out and said all of your music was basic white trash just to appeal to the radio-ā
āHey!ā
āExactlyā¦ā She waited for him to respond but was met with nothing but a sigh from him and an apologetic frown. "Why didn't you defend me?"
"I- I don't know." He replied, "Like I said, at the time it didn't feel wrong or anything. Of course I'll defend you now!" He finished.
"Yeah, but are you only saying that because I confronted you about it? You didn't even notice anything wrong with those questions until now. The weight they carriedā¦ fuck, Shawn." Alex sighed, shaking her head. An overbearing weight on her chest now.
"I'm sorry, baby, I love you! You know I wouldn't do anything to hurt you." He said, reaching for her hand.
"You already did! How the fuck do you go half of your press run just shitting on me and not realizing?" She yelled.
"Donāt raise your fucking voice at me!ā He yelled back, pointing a finger at her.
āIām fucking pissed! So of course Iām gonna yell at you, you fucking prick! Donāt get all fucking-ā
āOh my fucking god! What do you want me to do?! You want me to fucking apologize to the whole fucking world? Will that help you and your fucking career? If your boyfriend made a video or wrote down an apology and posted it online?! Is that what you want?ā He exploded, Alex glared at him and ran her hand through her hair.
āYouāre a fucking asshole, Shawn.ā She said, feeling herself about to break down.
āYouāre getting mad over a few little questions! Just fucking post something and say that itās not true!ā
āItās not that fucking easy! Iām not like you! My career isnāt fucking-ā While she was talking about how her work isnāt as grounded as his, Shawn pulled out his phone and started recording on Instagram.
āHey guys, so my fucking girlfriend is making me record this to say s-ā
āAre you fucking kidding me?!ā She screamed, trying to pull his arm down and stop him.Ā
āNo cause youāre being fucking overdramatic! I gotta apologize for some interviews!ā He replied but stopped recording.
āWhat the fuck is wrong with you?ā She glared at him and rushed to the room, getting some clothes together to leave.Ā
āThereās just no pleasing you, is there?ā Shawn said, his voice cold and uncaring.
āDonāt fucking talk to me. I canāt fucking look at you right now.ā She said, zipping up her bag and pushing past him.
āW- what? Wait, where are you going?!ā He exclaims, following her through the apartment, āPeople are gonna see you! Thatāll go ev-ā
āFor fuck sake! Is your image really more important than us? You care more about me being seen pissed off because of your own actions? Maybe I wouldnāt be leaving if you fucking cared!ā She yelled, rushing to open the door.
"Where are you going?!"Ā
"Doesn't matter. As long as I'm not here I'll be okay." She snapped, feeling herself about to cry. She tries not to cry so much, but this is just too much right now. "You know there was a time where i thought you were my dream come trueā¦ but you're a fucking nightmare." She said, a fewĀ tears falling out of her eyes. "Is there any specific reason you never let me direct your music videos? Or even your documentary, Shawn?" She asked, feeling herself lose hope in this relationship.Ā
Shawn stood there with his mouth hung open and he shifted on his feet but said nothing.
Alex sniffled and nodded, "Thought so." She finished her walk to the door and went to open it before Shawn spoke.
"You deserve better."Ā
"Yeah. I really do." She replied and opened the door, which made Shawn panic and rush next to her and hold the door closed.
"Wait, baby, I- I can't live without you." He said softly, that made Alex look up at him, teary eyed and all. She scoffed and threw the door open.
"If you can't live without me," She walked out the apartment, out of his life, for good. "Then die."

Kip Sabian.
Please go off.
anon i respect you so much for this but i hope you know what you have just done LMAO
tl;dr - hes absolutely perfect in every way possible. love of my life
hes just.. so innovative. his character work is absolutely fucking masterful, no matter which one it is. all of them are so delightfully different from one another but you can still see the same man behind all of them and thats just talking about the range of the character work and the clear work and effort he puts into everything he does, be it just the characters themselves, the promos, in-ring work, anything. he always goes all out, hes creative as hell with them (name me one other person that gets over with a box on their head i dare you) and it truly shows how loving and passionate he is about this whole wrestling thing and that he just absolutely gets it. also he just has fun with it and it shows. anything from cocky indie superbad to coward best husband superbad to boxman to whatever the cringe failure era was lmao and now the sex idol. he just does it all and he does it flawlessly and i will throw hands with tk if he doesnt capitalize on this man soon i sWEAR TO GODDAMN
his in-ring work is incredibly good. watch literally any sequence hes ever had with orange cassidy and you see what i mean. hes improved from that too (since the last one of those was a quite long while ago now), he can hang with pretty much anyone. i like it the way he says it himself, he can literally make anyone look good and no one has ever complained about having to work with him in the ring. which says a lot about how good and talented he is imo. he can do it all, be it more grounded moves or recently hes been doing a lot more jumps and top rope moves which! exciting!! cause it just adds to his arsenal and shows off that flexibility even more and its just so insanely good. like fuck man if you can get someone who can hang one-on-one with someone like vikingo like he did a few weeks back, thats a fucking keeper. dont you dare forget that
im not gonna take this moment to talk about his promo stuff cause i will literally be here forever. watch this and get back to me later about why im right that hes incredible at this shit with the tone and again character work and just overall presentation. even if its now a bit more comedic with the sex idol, its still an absolute delight. also i could listen to him talk forever, he has my favorite voice in the entire world and his accent is delicious and good fucking lord
PRESENTATION. hes just really fucking hot okay. i thought he was cute before but my god. the hair, no matter the version, on point. the eyeliner, gorgeous. nail polish, good lord (he needs to bring it back tbh its been a while). the outfits, holy shit i cant say words. i have done an extensive gear study to show how truly insane he makes me about his looks, not to mention the goddamn casual fits/suit game. jesus take the wheel. his smile is fucking out of his world and the laugh lines he gets are maybe my favorite feature on any human ever. hes fucking delicious and what of it
also arms. i dont think i need to say anything more i have also turned into a back admirer girlie (gn) because of him so like. uuuuuh
AND THEN. hes just a fucking delightful human being in general. is he stupid and cringey? yes, but arent we all. it just shows how human he is. just like us. ive so many times wondered how if we lived on slightly different timelines, we might have genuinely been friends cause he reminds me so much of guys of the same age that i know and im friends with. like we would have meshed pretty well together if circumstances were different lmao. that just shows me how genuine he is tbh. hes just fucking nice, hes very supportive, tries his best to be a good ally (i have both seen this and have first hand experience on it so dont @ me saying im wrong or its performative, i have way too many cases to prove that hes fr fr) and.. yeah. ive never heard anyone that actually knows him say anything bad about him. he has his flaws, obviously, cause nobodys perfect, but he makes up for it with what ridiculously good he has in him. this is a man with so much potential and love to give to the world both in his personal and professional lives and hes just needs his chance to shine so fucking badly, in all areas of life
im gonna stop now before i get too emotional but. yeah. he means fucking everything to me šš
#thank you for asking! <3#Anonymous#i didnt even get into the personal importance of the boxman or his catchphrases theres SO MUCH MORE i could include into this#i tried to keep it brief i wanna do other things tonight LMAO#anon i respect you so much for this thank you i love you#box thoughts

Oh, what do you mean by Taylor being a little (or very much) green? I feel like he gets excited and he rambles, which happens in lots of his interviews and bit just for RWRB, but it is so endearing and wholesome! I don't know if you were referring to that though š
His excited rambles are part of it, yes! They're also part of his natural personality so I hope he'll keep some of that in the long run. But you can hear that he often sounds like a kid on Christmas morning (which is really good and refreshing and why it's so precious to witness first times in an actor's journey).
I can mention a few other points that feel green for me :
-how he didn't paraphrase the part when he's talking about people who wanted to kill themselves and found relief or solace in the movie/book. Dark words like these and a couple of other I think he has used and dark things in general, aren't really media-friendly, especially when you're promoting something that is mostly light and fun. I'm not saying it's bad that he used them and maybe that's something he will want to purposely keep doing because sometimes we also need to hear reality as it is and it's obviously something that deeply touched him. But, I think a media-trained version of the same idea would have sounded a bit differently, something like "people telling me how the movie has helped them gone through a rough patch of their lives or a dark period of time" or something similar.
-how he sometimes loses the thread of what he's saying, or what the question was exactly and doesn't quite know how to wrap the answer or circle back to the initial topic. Promo is usually tiring and they have to answer to the same question 5938503 different times in a very short period of time and most people doing them end up using the same kind of outlines/patterns to answer questions. If you don't know how to answer a question, you rely on stuff that can work with everything. The director's vision, staying true to the script, etc. What I mean, is in recorded audio/video interview, they rarely come up with a brand new answer each time for each question (except Rebecca Ferguson, who has probably never actually answered to a question in her whole career and seems to come up with something new every time š). They rely on tools to help them. Taylor uses a few of them and sometimes... He doesn't. He starts talking and you hear him go with a flow and think at the same time as he's talking, not exactly knowing where he will end up. Hence some rambles š
-he walks right into the traps he sets himself... for himself š He did mix up question between good kisser/who has your heart and I think it initially brought up for talking about how they handled intimacy on set and all but his way of talking about the choreographic aspect of it was... So chaotic š good kisser/heart question are fun question on micro-interviews because you're not supposed to actually answer to them but joke around it to make a fun 15-second video out of it. To bring them up in a different context can feel a bit out of tune and he's like *i didn't know how to answer to them back then and I still don't know hahhaha so i'm not sure why I did mention them again in front of one of the good kisser contestant* and there was kind of the same feeling for the famous to wax or not to wax body hair anecdote. He understands where the interviewer is referring to and h'es kind enough to go there with him but at the same time, he's not really comfortable to entirely go there in a more "serious" setting (vs light joke on a red carpet) so I feel like we can hear a bit of a "hahaha fuck me" in his voice.
So yeah, there a lot of little things that feel green. Which, in case it isn't clear, isn't me saying he's unprofessional or that he's bad at doing promo or anything. Promo can be the most dull thing ever when people who do them don't know how to keep it entertaining. Having someone.. not "standardized" by years and years of promo is really refreshing. I love it to be honest. Both because it's always nice to see genuine and because they are media study candies and there are only a few things in life I like better than these. I hope he'll find a way to keep little bit of everything without draining himself too much š

Legally required to ask for Kokichi for the ask game
[For this ask game]
gosh ur so right anon. I am so sorry this got readmore levels of out-of-hand full spoilers for NDRV3 and also rated C for Current Hyperfixation.
favorite thing about them
Counter-intuitive, but I know my past self (including the era when V3 came out) would have hated Kokichi for the same reasons I like him now. Mainly:
I really did go into V3 expecting to loathe Kokichi as a nuisance at best; Iād been spoiled on Ch. 4Ā before getting into DR because I thought āmy aim sucks I wonāt play it anywayāĀ and, loving bees and assorted bugs as I do, I figured Gonta would be my favorite. And I mean, heās up there, but this little shit. How dare he be an engaging character.
Unsure where I said it previously, but Kokichi seems like the kind of guy who would run a How to Beat [X Movie] channel out of earnest (admit so or not) love for the thought experiment of it all, which isnāt just relatable, but aĀ very interesting Type of Guy to have in your killing game scenario. The one constantly pushing the boundaries, but notĀ quite meta-level aware theyāre in a video game; genre-savvy and trying to Actually Accomplish Something Constructive. He also goes about it in such a way that launches a couple malatovs at every bridge he has, which, having been anxious and overly rejection-sensitive in high school, isĀ fucking wild to me. You are going about this in the worst way you could,Ā on purpose, and that is fascinating. Mentally I am putting him in a microscope slide because What Is Your Deal
Plus, the way he constantly has some kind of front up to a point where Saihara canāt decide who he really is by the end of Ch. 5ā¦ hmm chameleon complex? I find it quite simple, really. Unclear to me if they meant to make him Like This but doubling down on constant over-performance of social signals because communicating frustrates you and it lets you feel some small degree of control in your life is (in my experience at least) very autistic of him and as a result hearing the whole V3 cast consider him entirely indecipherable down to the bitter endā¦ oof ouch real anxieties?Ā
least favorite thing about them
A) Some of the iconography they chose for his talent. Which Iām pretty sure they pretty much ditched outside promos? So B) Some of his art in the wake of Ch. 4 isā¦ wonky, but not in a way that looks fully deliberate? It undercuts the drama for me a bit. I think Kokichi seems much more menacing when he drops pretenses entirely and just goes blank instead of trying Very Hard to act out a particular emotion (like he does pretty much all the time). Instead of the demon face, something more like this?
favorite line
I blame this for getting "The more that you suffer, the more I enjoy it" stuck in my head, plus the combo of "Now you'll never, ever forget me for the rest of your life! [...] I stole your heart, so now I'm satisfied." The two surface Kokichis asdfghjkl
Looking for quotes though it came to my attention that in Chapter 2 he says "[...] I wanna win this killing game! So I'm not gonna run from it, I'm gonna crush it! That'll be waaaay less boring, don'tcha think?"Ā kicking screaming they knew exactly what they were doing
shipping and handling
tbh I less āshipā and more āplease make them interact with one anotherā, so grains of salt I suppose!
brOTP
Kokichi + Miu. Gotta find who in the amalgamate server said āin any other circumstance theyād be bestiesā because they are Correct.
OTP
This is a self report but like fuck it we ball Kokichi ā¢/ā Kaito
If you know the intricacies of what that means you may be entitled toā
Pretty much this vine
nOTP
I guess I'm a little squicked thinking of Kokichi/Gonta in a romantic sense? See at least in TAPP they've still got a Lot to talk about before comfortably calling one another 'friend' instead of 'working on it'
random headcanon
Ah a lot of these are already sprinkled in TAPP so whatās one yāall havenāt heard before,,
He started painting his nails during the game initially to interrogate (RE: get-to-know) Rantaro, and kept doing it to discourage himself from biting his nails and cuticles all the time. There's only like one sprite where he does it, but I think it could be a nervous tick
TAPP!DICE may not be real but the tea party policy absolutely is
I've drawn him in skirts doing outfit memes, but I think for him it's less concrete than feeling like dressing femme sometimes and more that, post-game and organization-less, he has no idea who he's supposed to be anymore and is throwing pretty much everything at the wall in many facets of his life. Including but not limited to saying 'screw uniforms' and seeing how long it takes him to get in trouble with HPA for wearing different clothes every day. After long enough unchallenged he starts getting his classmates to do it too. Considering...Ā their entire circumstances in TAPP, they get away with a lot more than the other classesĀ
unpopular opinion
Is it unpopular to say that some of the info from Kokichiās FTEs should have been in the main plot? The knife game scene, besides being my favorite, seriously clues the player into what heās like beyond the artifice without having to posthumously dump that exposition in his room, and that a lot of players confused by him are likely to miss out on characterization that would clarify things Irks Me.
song i associate with them
Oh, only one song? Too bad, 'cuz I Canāt Decide - Scissor Sisters
My other cop-out is 'Cause Iām a Liar - Mcki Robyns-P, which Iām working on a cover for in Synth V
Other than that? I havenāt built up nearly enough song-based associations with the DR cast yet somehow, but Iāll throw in Queen of Nothing - The Crane Wives which is less a Kokichi vibe than āIām writing TAPP!Kokichi in the wake of Chapter 5ā vibes. Isnāt this what you wanted? Time sure feels like itās running out. Finish what you started, Queen of Nothing, wearing such a heavy crown.
I donāt know if this is in the spirit of the prompt but the thought did occur to me that a Trial 5 animatic to Iām Alive from Next to Normal would slap really really hard actually.
I need more peppy songs in my life, is what Iām gathering.
favorite picture of them
Letās split it like this:
Favorite from the game? Probably this one
The face of a man asking āwhat are you gonna do, shoot me?ā promptly before getting shot.
Sprite? This one
Is it genuine curiosity? Is he mocking me? Some mysterious third thing? Yes.
and a fanart that lives in my brain rent-free (the-everlasting-ash). Linking instead of reposting bc please support the original artist. There are many, many wonderful pieces of fanart out there, but this one carved a niche in my brain and stayed there (it is the cover image for DR art on my phone on account of Stunning).

Thoughts on todays video? I liked it more than the first one, felt like more happened and more investigating was going on, plus the end legit felt scary. Hyped for the next one, though I'm not fond of the guests in the finale so we'll see if I can like the video despite Kris and Celina being in it.
I actually really liked it.
Especially the last 30 minutes or so. When those two are firing on all cylinders with the editing, pacing, and storytelling, they really fire on all cylinders.
I like the Sturniolos too, so this is not a knock at them, so put the blade sharpener down lol. Their part was a normal, fun snc video.
But once they left and snc really started to get into it, it felt much more....big and Hell Week-esque.
Spoilers and opinions behind the cut, so beware:
A few random observations:
1. They've really built up the suspense of this boiler room. I know some of it is them purposefully building up suspense - but fuck it. I like that sometimes. The place seems like it's going to be the focal point of the final video and I LIKE that. Again, great storytelling there.
2. In line with #1, anybody who thinks that Colby Brock is acting should put his reaction in that boiler room up to his ridiculous voice over at the end of their Halloween movie before they try to tell me he's *that* good of an actor lmao. Colby Brock is many things; a good actor is not one of them. He was legit scared in the boiler room.
3. I know a thing or two about grave digging. I'm telling you right now, Samuel Golbach did not dig that grave with a shovel and a pick-axe. Especially not with the type of digging he was showing on screen. Nice try, but no lol.
4. In line with #3, I actually didn't think that whole challenge was as bad as it first sounded. It was more manual labor than anything actually scary or dangerous for Sam (unless he pulled a muscle "digging" lol). When I first heard that challenge in the previous episode, I audibly cringed because it sounded so...stupid. It sounded like one of their challenges, and you know I hate those damn challenges. But it actually wasn't that dumb, or that traumatizing. It was weird but it oddly fit the whole vibe of the video. I surprisingly didn't hate it the way I thought I would.
5. Colby demolishing that door when he kicked it in was...something lol.
6. Sam immediately naming himself the Fred of the Scooby Gang and Colby just casually mentioning that he was Thelma cause Thelma "got a fat ass," was very in tune with their personality types and their psychological makeup and someone with more skills in that arena than me could've probably made a whole post on that alone. As it was, I just nodded sagely and went, "Yep, yep."
7. I like that their security guy told them that they had the principals office wrong the entire time, and they just left that in the video instead of trying to correct that in editing. Other people may disagree, but I like the transparency.
8. I actually legit felt bad when Colby said he felt betrayed by the ghosts. Poor guy š.
9. The last 5 seconds of the video, showing them sleeping and the (probably bug but maybe orb lol, I don't even care what it was cause it fit the theme) thing flying towards Colby right before the video cut was just cool. I just really liked the way they edited this one, guys.
10. That promo for the last video...wow. They don't do trailers often anymore, but when they do, they really sell it.
I only have two critiques:
1. As much as I did like them setting up the boiler room as this portal to hell and general bad news, I do think they were maybe losing track of logic at the end there and were making some very obvious and Zak Bagans-esque conclusion jumping assumptions. Hearing a drip in a boiler room when you literally walked in and saw a bucket over a leaky ceiling earlier, does NOT a ghost make. I get they were freaked out but I would've just left stuff like that out of the edits at the end.
2. When the Sturniolos were doing the Estes and were very clearly getting whole sentences from radio stations ("Iowa's best rock" or whatever) there was a moment before they decided to try and fix it where it almost seemed like they were trying to fit that into their ghost narrative and with the way the debunkers dig their teeth into shit like that, I audibly cringed lol. Again, just cut that type of stuff out entirely, next time.
Overall thoughts: this one was way spookier than the last one and really set the tone for what is going to be the grand finale. I actually genuinely liked it and will probably watch it again this weekend. I love their storytelling, their suspenseful editing, and the way they just naturally bounce off each other. All in all, this was a solid 8/10.

Have you seen the new promo art for Loki season 2 yet? I think they just released it today, and I just happened to see it and....yuck. It's gross. It's like a brown and orange nightmare. It's still very, very eerily fascistic, only now with Loki as part of it., which is a whole other separate level of wrong.
Seeing it now, it gives me the feeling that Loki is going to spend the rest of the Loki series dressed in that 3-piece Brown Vomit. It's like "TVA agent" is his identity now. Not a god, not a superhuman, not any kind of formidable force, just some pitiful simp who works in a cubicle and wears the same ugly brown suit every day.
Sorry for the delay in answering!
I just checked because I hadn't seen it and.... yikes. So many yikes. I'm so glad I'm not watching it.
Other than the fact that it's quite telling Sylvie is nowhere to be seen, these two pics disgust me:
When S1 ended I was worried about two things: S2 confirming that everything pre-S1 wasn't the "real" Loki but a guy who said and did whatever HWR decided... or that they would make him head of the TVA. Seems like the latter is a possibility, especially considering the two pics above.
The TVA doesn't need to "change", it needs to be destroyed and burned to the ground.
You know what this reminds me of? TWS. I know but hear me out: Fury was telling Steve and the others that Shield could be salvaged, that maybe taking down the bad guys would be enough. And what did Steve say to that? Absolutely fucking NOT. It all goes down because the organization itself allowed Hydra to grow which meant Shield had been corrupted from the beginning.
And at the time the MCU seemed to agree with that, but not anymore. Now it seems they might think the TVA can be salvaged, that maybe if the guy running the thing does so "the right way" then their side of fascism is acceptable.
And then of course what bigger insult to Loki's character than turning a previously anti-status quo god of outcasts into a fascist who runs a corrupted organization that had spent an unknown period of time destroying entire universes and killing people they had deemed lesser than.
Loki wasn't a villain in the past but if they end up doing this to him? He will be one. One of the worst, in fact. And what pisses me off the most is that the more I see these things... the less I like him. They're completely ruining a character I used to love so much to the point of my blog having pretty much nothing of him these last few months. So well done, I guess.
#Loki#Loki negativity#that promo art is disgusting#I sincerely hope they start by acting like it can be salvaged... but then they realize it can't be and they destroy it#if they do that I will be the first to eat my words and applaud them#but if they don't.... yikes#mcu critical#mcu salt

"He has never done anything wrong" is simply false. Just because his actions have reasonings and actually understandable intentions along with more personal and evil ones doesn't absolve him of his actions. The whole thing with that darkling guy was that he had no intentions except evil ones and that is the guy with more nuance? don't make me laugh. its not just about morality, even the worst to worst characters need to have more motivations than power and revenge on repeat.
I think you might want to reread what I said and try again:
I really wouldnāt call Grim (lame ass name ugh) a villain in like how the plot trajectory goes. Like Aster kept calling him a villain in her promo stuff but heā¦ doesnāt do anything to narratively justify that. Thereās a big third act betrayal (that makes ZERO SENSE) so he is like objectively fucking awful but heās also not really framed as such. Like Iām fully waiting for Nightbane to be like āno actually heās never done anything wrong in his life, in fact he single handedly invented feminismā Ć la ACOMAF
Anyway, I really should not indulge this anon further, as hilarious as this is. But for general context, one big twist in Lightlark is that pre canon Grim (the Rhysand/obligatory morally grey love interest with the exact same description in every romantasy ever) was convinced that the only way to win their stupid ass tournament thing is for the protagonist Isla to fall in love with Oro (Tamlin). But oh teh noes Isla already loved him! So his plan, framed as a huge sacrifice, was toā¦ wipe all of her memories of him and their relationship without consulting her about itā¦ so that uh.. hopefully? maybe? sheāll fall in love with Oro when the tournament begins. Itās just so precarious and flimsy to begin with!
Meanwhile he completely undercuts his own goals by showing up and immediately diving into terrible banter with her. And taking her out on a date through not!Velaris and randomlyā¦ hand feeding her chocolate. The entire book is just cartoonish but he basically takes every single opportunity to flirt with her and thereās at least one make out scene randomly set in an abbey (there is zero established religion in this book!!!!!) that I am glad to have mostly blocked out of my memory. Like he is NOT doing anything to further his own goals of pushing Isla towards Oro.
Isla ends the first book (lmao understandably) furious with Grim and randomly deciding sheās in love with Oro. But the narrative framing is obviously one where Grim made a tragic mistake and/or that his actions are justified if misguided. Heās just so blatantly a Rhysand! I havenāt read the sequel yet but just from the sheer ACOTAR of it all, Iām certain the second book is going to be speedrunning the ACOMAF trajectory where the narrative justifies all of his actions and conveniently forgets anything wrong he may have done.
Heās frankly barely a character, heās just speedrunning Rhysand tropes. His motivations make no sense and his reasoning is so bizarre! The reason I was saying making him more evil could be more interesting is that, in the completely alien other world where Lightlark is remotely competently written, a scenario that acknowledges what an insane violation it is to like unilaterally decide all this for someone he supposedly loves could be genuinely compelling. If itās acknowledged as cruelty and having no consideration for the protagonistās desires and ability to make choices for herself. Also like damn literally all his screen time is just shitty banter and embarrassing angsting about being a monster like please just give me some varietyā let alone actual genuine character work.
I donāt even like Rhysand. But his trajectory from ACOTAR to ACOMAF is at least appropriately drawn out. Heās actually framed as genuinely antagonistic and dangerous on introduction, and the points where he does help Feyre in the first book do a good job of very gradually shifting her perspective on him. And when she hates him the narrative at least mostly tries to lean into it. I already felt like ACOMAF was too annoying with its banter and the obvious foregone conclusion of their romance from very early on, where the reader isnāt allowed to come to their own opinions about him. But itās way more competently done than anything in Lightlark. The relationship has way more time to breathe.
The Darkling meanwhile is a traditional villain who masquerades as the morally ambiguous sad boy love interest for like half of the first book. (But his fandom has never been able to let go of that initial framing rip). His motivations are pretty simpleā at the heart of it, he just wants control. Thereās depth to how he tries to achieve it. How he tries to present his motivations as much more reasonable and just than they are. He often undercuts himself too, but it comes from a point of deliberate characterization. His arc is one where heās spiraling due to his waning control of the situationā and the protagonistā and becoming far more volatile and vicious for it. Heās horrible, but like thatās the point lmao
#this is soooo funny#unfortunately Iām too opinionated to not take this chance to talk characterization#a mysterious stranger has appeared#all the bendy punctuations#i ramble sometimes#grishaverse#acotar#lightlark#book talk
