measured pro ai arguments are basically just... pointing out anti arguments that aren't about the people behind large ai companies aren't great arguments. and that's cuz "ai" is a mislabeled set of computer tools that dont all do the same thing and some don't really exist to fill a practical human function, it's mostly just techbro advertising and capitalism, more ways to easily feed a creative economy that by its nature cannot be an economy so the ousting of human creatives is important. if llms and digital assistants or w/e else is gonna get called ai nowadays were made without the motives of capitalism they would probably be different and we probably wouldn't call any of them ai but as of now ai is just a big misappropriated word used for stuff tech companies have already been doing for years

I really think it should be illegal for publicly available generative AI to create hyperrealistic photos/videos of children. Firstly, it's trained on images of real children, who inherently have not consented to their image being shared online, and secondly name a non-nefarious purpose that this technology would serve. On Wednesday before I gave my presentation I confessed to a new employee that I was worried it would be too long and she brightly told me her life hack was to just let AI rewrite things for her. She said I should put in all my talking points and ask ChatGPT to give me a five minute exactly presentation. I was like....how is the most polite possible way (since this is a new colleague I shouldn't get off on the wrong foot with) that I can express that I will Not be taking this advice. Ever. I told her that I didn't think we were allowed to use ChatGPT at this job (we most certainly are not, it is a nightmare for any type of protected information) and also that I prefer to write all of my own work. Despite my best efforts the last part of that was still passive aggressive, lol.
