Chapter 2: Added Traits for Souls

THE UNIQUE COLORS AND TRAITS: (67.9% of Souls have at least 1-2 sub traits around the main Trait {1 of the main 7 traits above}, which empower and alter the soul a bit. Traits can be changed with enough time, effort, therapy, guildance, care, etc. They can also change negatively with accidents, fights, traumatic experiences, etc. All Souls can change, but it takes a lot to do so either way.

These traits can be seen as blended rings around the core trait, flecks of them scattered on the soul, one trait covering one half and the other on the other side, etc. This is dependent on the person and their soul.

Prism - Creativity : These souls cannot stop creating (art, writing, crafts, cooking, baking, etc) They are imaginative and full of ideas. Their soul shines with all the colors in the light, but the colors are a shiny metallic version of the colors. Can make your soul weapon do some creative things.

Bronze - Heroic : These souls wish to help everyone and everyone, especially if it means saving the day (of that person!) They are the stuff Superheroes are made out of. Makes your attack stronger, especially during moments where you can be a hero.

Slate gray - Distrust : These souls have been betrayed in the past, and now are very wary of all people and creatures. They take a while to warm up to people, if at all. Increases defense, and makes it hard for soulmarks to be seen.

Moss Green - Envy : These type of people become possessive, jealous, and are very protective of what they consider theirs. They don't share well, and will sometimes, if the feeling overpowers the soul, will KILL for what they want. When fighting for something they want or protecting what is their's, their attacks will stick more, be more accurate.

Seafoam Green - Friendliness: These people are friendly and are always open for a conversation. Upbeat, kind, and always ready to make a new friend, they are the type to have huge crowds of friends. When around more friends, their stats will be boosted slightly.

Bubblegum Pink - Confidence: These people are charismatic, talkative, and are always front and center of the stage. Ready when you are, camera man! These folks can have more unique ACTS than normal folks.

Aegean Blue - Depression: These souls tend to have sadness in their life, which makes them constantly full of sorrow and depressed. Not all who have depression have this soul, but those who have it usually had a long standing, far reaching sad experience in childhood that made them more susceptible to getting it. Brings down attack and HP, but increases defense.

Lavender Purple - Curiosity: These are people filled with questions, and wonder what is out there. They want to discover whats around the corner, and can't handle surprises or anyone holding secrets. With time and nurturing, Curiosity can turn to Wisdom. Will learn more from the CHECK option.

Bosenberry Purple - Wisdom : These souls are naturally wise, intelligent, and thirst for knowledge like no other. It is their goal to find out new things each day, and pass it on to whoever is near and dear to them. Tell them something they DONT know, and you will forever be in their good graces. They will know a few things about others before even CHECKING, and their CHECK skill is maxed.

Bumblebee Yellow - Hope: These souls are naturally hopeful and optimistic. They want to see the best in everything, and want everything to come out good in the end. They want it so much, for themselves and for those around them. Their HP is higher than normal!

Dirty Gold Yellow - Pride: These souls are prideful, hence the name. Their egos and pride in their word is unfaulted. They can be hard to work with, as with those huge heads of their's, they don't listen well to others.

Rose Pink - Flirt/Romantic/Lust : Depending on the tint/shade of Rose, shows how deeply romantic the person is. These folks are always huge romantics, love to tease and dress up, having a soulmate, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, AND ENTIRE HAREM/REVERSE HAREM... They love everyone. These folks have a good chance of being poly or having multiple soul mates. They always have the flirt option, and they know how to use it!

Tiger Orange - Loyalty : These souls will fight for those who they care for, and will stay with them. Sometimes, however, their loyalty is not deserved, as it can be a bad thing when they are loyal to the wrong people. This trait can become Distrust if broken too far. When they fight against someone they are loyal to, their stats are lowered. When fighting with them, the stats grow.

Emerald Green - Altruism : These wonderful folks will give everything they have to assist those in their lives. They are similar to Heroic souls, but not to the active/athletic orientation. They are more like kindness souls, only they give and give and GIVE until they are unable to anymore. They do so with a smile, being selfless and dedicated to those around them. They boost the stats of the ones around them, at the cost of their own stats, however they also gain HP from doing so.

Chartreuse Yellow - Energetic : These souls make up many of the athletes and sports majors of the world. Many children will gain this trait at first, before going on to the more thoughtful traits. Souls with this color are always ready for exercises and more mobile activities, and always, of course, bursting with energy. People with this trait may have insomnia and ADHD. These folks have higher HP and attack, at the cost of defense.

Latte Tan - Timidity : These souls are shy, quiet, and keep to themselves. They are loners, and prefer the quieter actions in life, like reading and walks. They can become Confident Souls with enough supporters, or if they get really into the activities, such as writing or drawing, they can become Creative souls. Timidity can make it difficult to summon soul weapons.

Sand Dollar Tan - Vitriolic: These folks are bitchy! Various levels of salt and bitterness are with these folks, and more than likely, they are the masters of sass and mischief. Beware of stupid comments, as you might be reemed by these folks! Attack is higher, Defense is higher, however HP hits a blow. Weapon is sharper, like their tongues.

Purple Gray - Ignorance: Ignorance is bliss, some might say. Others will call those who are ignorant stupid, rash, completely bull headed... They are stuck in their ways, and they do the dumbest things without knowing who they speak to or how to go about it. Ignorance limits the view during the ENCOUNTER, CHECK is limited, however stats are slightly boosted due to "Not Knowing How Dangerous Something Is".

Leather Brown - Neuroticism : Once the mind starts to go, the soul goes to a dark brownish as a last ditch effort to keep it from going black. People with this soul have a tendency to experience emotional instability, anxiety, moodiness, irritability, and sadness, as well as having a low tolerance for stress. The feelings they have can have different soul colors, but if they feel them all too much, all at once, the soul starts darkening until they feel nothing but darkness. Weapons can become damaged, stats lower or higher depending on soul trait and what is happening.

looks like shitty h/skerd/st may end up canon, even though once again husk looks uncomfortable and pissed off by angel, but you cant literally criticise angel without the whole fucking fandom and even staff get pissy with you. accept that not everyones gonna love him, and folks like me whove been victims to these sorts *really* dont fucking like him (to be clear, his predatory nature of not accepting husk saying no but magically accepting other's no, incl alastors. also he tried to force a kiss from husk, similar to how his boss does to him so theres no fucking excuses. its disgusting and male victims of sex crimes are fucking valid, so stop excusing angels actions. he didnt deserve to be a victim but hes not doing favours by making a victim out of husk. its clear harassment. not cute or tsundere either, vile fujoshis-). but most relate or love angel so validate this shit, much like viv and her staff and vas. revolting. he also gives sw a bad name when hes fucking harassing folks bc sw isnt like that - you dont just harass someone. nor is sex your entire identity.

ugh fed up man. im starting to enjoy this fandom so little yet the few characters i am attached to keep me around. hell ive said before ive been around husk like people and they often really dislike angel types, whereas angel types adore them rather shallowly tbh. yeah but honestly this fandom and the clowns running it will find an excuse for angel and avoid those actually affected as always. big surprise...

husk physically resembles angels brother, dad and client, and is similar to the first two. its this toxic bond of angel wanting that love he never got from them. basic science. plus both addicts and one being older than his fuckin dad means realistically it wouldnt work. love does not cure everything nor should be pushed to. ones uncomfortably forced into it, and his bonding moments makes husk ooc because hes portrayed totally different to how he would be. again, experience. overall we get enough of this toxic, forced shit in media. just stop.

angel needs to sort his own shit before being with a guy. and then he needs to be with a guy on his level, around his age and mentality whos in a healthy spot. someone similar to him. hell a male cherri bomb would suit. as for husk, he needs a lot more work thatll take far longer. he needs to love himself and work through his own shit and be like that for awhile first. seen it first hand kill so

because media shows that fandoms and celebs are now littered full of spoilt folks getting their own ways, seeing any critique or disinterest as 'hate' and being the most entitled buncha twats going. not everyones going to love you or care and that doesnt mean theyre a hater. if viv actually wants a likeable character with flaws to grow, she'd actually show angel's bad as not just him being a fucking victim as its just a mix of victim blaming and entitlement to get what he wants for being a victim when life aint fair. show him with traits more widely despicable thatll shock fans. actually show him accepting people not liking him and being ok rather than forcing himself on them until they do. fucking disgusting. though everyone thinks thats cute. bloody weird-

i’d like to join your little discussion and fill you in, since you were watching cat videos last year and seemed to miss everything. sounds like a much nicer time than i was having! because at the time i was being sent death threats and anti semitic hate for a holding a fairly uncontroversial opinion, or at least in the circles in which i run.

yes, i got upset seeing damian in a santa hat. because for the last few years, my dash every christmas is pretty jam packed full of christmas themed batfam posts and art. and as a jewish person, understanding that the creators of bruce and most of the batfam are jewish, i found this to be quite confusing and hurtful. and let’s just get this out of the way, bruce is jewish. dc has even published articles about this, and has confirmed it in a pussy way. but even without that, his mother, kate’s maternal aunt, is a jew. that means that bruce is a jew. unless he takes real concrete steps to renounce his faith and community, ethnically he’s still jewish. and he can be an atheist and STILL BE JEWISH. there are actually atheist rabbis, who just really love our culture and tradition, want to have a central role in the community, and guide other jews in a positive direction. and thats actually pretty wonderful. because again, judaism is just as much an ethnicity as it is a religion.

over the years, christians have written bruce as catholic and christian and atheist, and a broad range of other things. hell, in the 80s the phrase ‘caped crusader’ was coined by a christian writer, and i dont love hearing him referred to as that. i think it goes against the very core of why he was created as a jewish allegory. the same goes for people who believe superman is a jesus allegory - he isnt. he was written as a modern day moses parallel. also by jewish authors. he’s a jewish character to his core too. the author of the 1990whatever robin run even said he wanted tim to be jewish, and showed his mother in a jewish cemetery. its not as if intent isnt there.

comics as a whole were created by jewish people, to tell jewish stories to a wider audience. yes, there is some old official art of bruce and dick standing in front of a christmas tree. and that might maybe be because.... it was from the 40s. and i dont know if you noticed but in the 40s americans werent really fond of jews, and neither was the world at large. judging by the response of people in my inbox, they still arent. so these characters can still be jewish allegories, written by jewish people to convey jewish ideals and stories, in an antisemitic world. back then this lipservice needed to be paid in the name of assimilation, and i would have hoped today the need for this would have diminished.

i hope thats enough context to introduce what happened last year, i was upset that it was all going to start again, and made it known. the artist even reached out to me, and listened to my point of view. because this actually, at the end of the day, isnt a huge deal. and im not sure why it grew, and why other people got involved, when the artist, urs, and i had sorted it out. it became a lightning rod for ‘free speech/art’ anti semitic crusaders.

what is a huge deal though is the hate and vitriol and racism and anti semitism that poured out of the people who associate with your side. Urs, my brave friend who vocally stood by me, received countless hateful messages about her being a survivor and a first nations american. i cant even count how many times i was called a kike.

so the real problem here wasnt the santa hat, it was that a jewish and native american person expressed unhappiness about something, and was met with a disgusting display of hate. thats the problem. that your side was so ready to resort to death threats and slurs. because someone expressed an opinion.

I believe that there is a difference between a person choosing to celebrate a holiday, and a non jewish artist drawing jewish/created by jewish people’s characters celebrating christian holidays. because the jewish person has a choice, but the character does not. at this point in time, there are very few practicing jewish and muslim characters in comics, and in media at large. so i dont think it’s appropriate to make everything christian and say no big deal. i think its more important to display diversity in faith and culture, even if dc is reticent because of cultural antisemitism at large.

when it comes to damian, i can’t speak to that with the same certainty and intensity as i can to the others, since im not muslim. but i do know that several writers have intended him to be muslim (again never committing in canon because comic fans are obviously not very progressive people), and muslim members of this fanbase have really connected with him. and i think showing art where he is muslim, and practices that in a loving and meaningful way, is way more significant and impactful than drawing him in a fucking santa hat.

it is actually very important for jewish people to conserve and practice our culture, and to be vocal about doing so. because people have tried to take it away from us time and time again. so to just brush this aside and say that ‘christmas is a coca cola ad so who cares’ (?) isnt good enough. because we were killed for practicing chanukah, so now its really important that we do. that we remember our tradition, and we pass it on. that we dont allow it to be wallpapered over in the name of assimilation.

all that needed to have happened was for someone to accept and admit that these are characters created by jewish people, to tell jewish stories, and act accordingly and respectfully.

so the problem, in the end, was that i was viciously and ruthlessly attacked for being a jewish woman with an opinion on something, and 10 months later deciding to get involved? i think thats a bad look babe xx

Final round-up of fan fic asks

I've gotten a few more interesting responses to the fan fic discussion so I'm going to round them all up here. This will be my final post on the topic until/unless there's a dramatic new development, or a particularly notable response I want to highlight. Thanks to everyone who brought their thoughts and experiences to the topic. I hope everyone at least feels heard.

The biggest piece of advice that I would like to offer is for everyone to focus on what they love rather than what they hate. If we all did that, the world would be a better place. Alongside that, I'd like to remind everyone to please support authors whose work you like. It's so important. Give them a kudos, give them a nice comment, recommend their work to others. You never know what kind of grief and harassment they are dealing with to bring you these great stories, and our support means a lot.

With regard to fandom and fan fic issue, my years of experience being part of very large fandoms has led me to believe that big accounts are v important in facilitating and enforcing the general consensus of the whole fandom. Unless there will be big accs who'll remind everyone of being respectful & just not being a dick over other's preferences, nothing will change.

This is also the reason why I think certain solo fandoms have adapted weird and twisted narratives as their general fandom story because no big acc has tried to police them & and say hey pls be rational. So to anyone reading this I hope we all practice more restraint and reflection before we post anything. Remember that words, no matter what medium you write it in, will always carry weight.

So true. It is easy - even for myself who spends a fair chunk of time answering people's asks - to forget that people can sometimes be impressionable and what we say can influence people whether that's our intent or not. I get used to thinking of myself as a regular guy just doing my own thing when sometimes my thoughts and words go well beyond where I initially posted them.

I think it's important for us to be careful what we say, and it's equally important to be careful what we take from what other people say. Especially when it comes to big claims. Always get a second, third, fourth opinion and don't be afraid to ask for clarification if something doesn't sit right or sounds confusing.

It's also important to reflect on how our words and actions might affect other people's experience of fandom, and err on the side of 'live and let live' wherever possible. It's great to have our own preferences and to champion them, but we should try to do so in a way that leaves space for other people and perspectives.

The more unique perspectives and the more friendly, open dialog there is, the healthier the community will be as a whole.

There's nothing wrong with encouraging and guiding growth in the particular areas we are interested in, as long as it doesn't step on, oppress or attack those who are peacefully enjoying something different.

i would like to clarify that most of these zsww/lsfy fans are not dynamic exclusive (in the sense that they are friendly and interact with all ggdd fans) they just prefer to "identify" themselves as zsww/lsfy fans (on twitter specifically) just to form a distinction from bjyx fans who mostly are dynamic exclusive (as in; they do not consume non-bjyx content, and straightup refuse to interact with non-bjyx fans, often blocking them). as a result, id say that the zsww/lsfy communiy is way more 3/?

mature and respectful (after all, they're mostly queer people talking about a queer ship) whereas many problems in this fandom, such as the homophobia, adamantly insisting on "drawing lines" between dynamics, stem from the bjyx exclusive fans, comprised of cishet females who "may not know better". so, it is of no surprise to me that they're resorting to these immature tactics of calling gg unsavory names, and organizing retaliatory events with controversial topics in an attempt to "purify". 4/4

I trust that you have arrived at that theory through your own experience and observation. I haven't personally spent much time immersed in this stuff so I can't claim to have any real insight or expertise. If you say that's your experience of it, then at the very least that's how you've seen things up to this point.

I just want to say that I think we should always be careful about making assumptions about people's age, gender/gender identity, etc.

There are plenty of good reasons to avoid doing that; because those assumptions could be very wrong, because those assumptions are often laced with ageism, sexism, etc., because those assumptions - even when correct - might not be an accurate basis for the conclusions we draw.

But the primary reason I recommend avoiding those type of assumptions is because anything that enables us to clump a group of people together in our minds like that will tend to make them easier to demonize and dehumanize. They are no longer individuals who are each responsible for their own unique perspectives, they are now 'the X group' who is known for 'A B C series of easily attackable ideas or behaviors'.

If we attribute undesirable traits and behaviors to a group of people we feel opposed to in some way, that makes us feel more righteous and justified in behaving unfairly toward them, dismissing their humanity and warring with them. It's just risky behavior to engage in, even when it's well-intentioned.

There might actually be some truth to what you're saying. It could very well be that most of these people are young, inexperienced, heteronormative, etc. but if that's the case then we should try to use those traits to better understand and empathize rather than to better dismiss and discredit.

Just my two cents on that.

It can be really frustrating dealing with what feels like other people attacking us, trying to oppress us, etc. - especially when there are more of them than there are of us. In my experience the best solutions to that sort of problem are generally the ones that focus on what we are doing and want to do rather than what they are doing that we don't want them to do.

As I am always preaching, we can't control what other people say, do or think. The only thing we have any control over is what we say, do and think (and how we respond to what they say, do and think).

I have found in my experience that the moment I step out of a conflict mindset and instead step into a problem-solving mindset, everything starts to come together. I feel better, my outlook is more positive, I can begin to see solutions and allies rather than problems and enemies, and most of all, I become more focused on what I am doing than what others are doing.

So I would recommend everyone who is invested in resolving these conflicts focus on that. "How can we best showcase and encourage the types of stories we enjoy?" instead of "How can we stop these other people from doing things we dislike?"

Hello again! It’s anon #3 from the fanfic post. I really do appreciate reading your thoughts on various issues like this, so thank you for always taking time to write in depth. As for supporting without going to war, the simplest way has always been to just show appreciation for the creators, hype them up. Kudos are the easiest way on ao3 but comments in addition are great. This goes for all content—art, fics, vids..etc. Creators love to see and read how people react to their content. Sharing is also great, fic recs are very helpful, just be cautious with art and reposting though. Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks so much, Anon. I think this is excellent advice. And it's true that appreciation is great, but helping to expand the audience is also great. Recommending stories, pointing people to the pages/websites of artists we like (as opposed to reposting), sharing our own ideas and approaches, encouraging people to try new things... all of this helps build healthier communities.

And here's another one: WRITE! DRAW! CREATE!

I urge anyone with creative interests or talents to bring their voices to the community because we all can benefit from hearing from you.

... You know I have been trying to step away from directly addressing RWBY bullshit. But...fuck it here.

If you ever talked to me about how I felt about RWBY, I would say that RWBY pre-Volume 8 has been a touchy subject for me. I felt very validated by two videos, "Why RWBY is Disappointing" and "The White Fang Problem".

Yes yes, and people with parental issues feel validated by their abusive spouse. That means nothing, especially given that one of those videos you mentioned is riddled with bullshit.

"Why RWBY is Disappointing" validated my criticism of RWBYs writing. The fact that Miles and Kerry can't and refuse to take any kind of criticism that doesn't hurt their feelings is complete [insert bad word here]. All criticism is going to hurt your feelings. Yes, you should probably ignore the long winded rants that make themselves out to be self important- why is there a mirror here? But there is truth to all criticism.

And there’s a kernel of truth in the best lies- they’re still LIES.

Not to mention the video you mentioned here (which I am assuming is Hbomberguy’s) pulls the SAME SHIT it calls out. Like say...decrying critics pesonally attacking the writers...while proclaiming Jaune and Neptune as self inserts even though Miles AND Kerry is on the record saying that at least Jaune isn’t written by his voice actor.

I'm currently learning about Branding and how important it is to know your audience. Take self.care breaks, talk with someone you trust. Someone who isn't Miles or Kerry! If your reading this. An outside perspective can help. The reason I say that is because if you two constantly talk to each other you're going to end up in an echo chamber. TALK TO FIONA! She's literally your target audience!

Because hey, a man who contradicts himself numerous times and made personal attacks on the creators that only the most malicious and self righteous do is SOOOO trustworthy right?

Remember that tweet Hbomb brought up in his video as an example of criticism the creators should listen to? The one that demanded Miles get back to work and tried to use the catchphrase of his dead friend to manipulate him?

What a fucking target audience.

I know they mentioned ‘Fiona’ (likely the character’s voice actress) but there’s a supposed fan, one that pretty much sums up the critics, and a perfect example why it gets tossed out.

Moving on, the other video validated something I wish it didn't. "The White Fang Problem" brought to light something I knew was there but either ignored or I wasn't thinking. The White Fang has always made me a little uncomfortable. As a minority, it didn't translate well in my head. The minority are the bad guys. The Civil rights group were the bad guys. I brushed it off for a long time but after that video I couldn't.

Ah huh. So uh, the existence of Blake, Ghira, Kali, Sun, Illa, Velvet, Neon ect. is just incovienable to you huh? And don’t give me that ‘But civil rights group!’- The first episode had them break up a peaceful protest and it’s repeatedly hammered home that the current White Fang doesn’t give a SHIT about equal rights. And no, that concept is not racist- Judging from a story I read, that happened to the New Black Panthers in REAL LIFE.

It became a moral issue. Watching RWBY became a moral issue. RWBY is still pushing right wing talking points.-

Being right of you is not right wing, Especially given how you just acted.

I dont believe Miles and Kerry are racist. I do believe that Miles and Kerry both hold skewed beliefs in what right and wrong is.

The way Miles and Kerry treat self defense and protest shows that they know nothing about being Black. They didn't do their research. They didn't talk to minorities about how they were being portrayed. They simply believed that they were right and we were wrong.

Despite the show having two straight couple kisses, granted one was in Volume but still, they couldn't get the married couple to kiss? Just saying.

So you can see I was not coming into Volume 8 with my rose colored glasses. I'm sure many of you hate me because of all my comments, but I don't care. I was ready to leave RWBY. I didn't care. RWBY had taken up so much of my life but I don't care. I was not going to support a show that didn't improve.

You just came in with jade-colored glass and accepted anything that validated you instead of questioning yourself. You talk about branding but that’s ALL you’ve branded yourself as.

So I watched. And something happened. Something strange. RWBY was moving in a direction I didn't expect it to. Oscar got what he deserved. The Heros were oblivious to the danger that is Salem. Things were headed in the direction that would change the characters forever. It'll be just like Beacon but better. And then they had to ruin it.

Oh we are about to get some real bullshit.

Oscar somehow convinces Hazel to betray Salem. What could have been an avenue to a multi season story arc for Oscar that included the stories villains became a shitty uninspired redemption arc. Kill me.

No he didn’t and this has been something hinted at since Volume 4.

There's still hope for the season but at this point I lost all hope.

This is the scene that killed Volume 8 for me. Oscar should not be the one who defeats Salem. In fact he should be an avenue to learn more about the villains. He served his purpose with the heroes, now he has a new arc with the villains. Oscar doesn't turn evil, but he's like a conscious. Salem doesn't want to kill him because he can be useful in finding the last remaining relics and maidens.

Assumptions.

Oscar has a heart to heart with all the villains including Salem. Oscar learns to be his own man and accepts he's now one with Ozma but he doesn't have to be another Ozma. He doesn't have to make the same decisions.

Its a great Arc for Oscar. It also makes sense for his character. Ozma feels Salem is pure evil but Oscar can learn for himself.

Headcanon.

But they won't do that. Instead they're going to take the easy way out. Like always.

Bias getting in the way.

Miles and Kerry love wrapping up each season in a little bow. This is why RWBY is so okay.

They say as every RWBY Volumes ends in a cliffhanger.

This is Beacon but if Miles and Kerry thought that RWBY should still be in Beacon. This is Beacon but without major character death. This is Beacon but the main villain loses because the heroes can't lose. Cinder isn't threatening. None of the villains are. Salem is in a Grimm! She should know everything! Why is there no creativity? Why is she not an over powered mess in A GRIMM!? Her own domain?! Why are the writers writing her not as a powerful goddess reaffirming her as a threat but as a human being. Yes I know what that sounds like but hear me out.

‘WHY IS THE MAIN VILLAIN NOT BEING TREATED AS THREATENING LIKE I THINK SHE IS!’

‘Why is there no creativity?’

‘DO THE MOST UNCREATIVE THING POSSIBLE!’

If Salem can be out smarted by a 10 year old boy, why did it take Ozma so long to defeat her? Oscar should fail. RWBY should fail. They should go through character arcs that help them better understand Salem. Because that's how you defeat Salem.

I always believed that Ozma and Salem are very similar to Ruby and Weiss. Yes I know how it sounds but it makes sense.-

They refuse learn and they refuse to improve. If Volume 8 doesn't improve im leaving RWBY. It doesn't matter to any of you. I'm saying it more for myself. So I don't continue with a show that constantly disappoints me. But more so, I don't support a show that views people like me as lesser. If the writing improves it proves that they can grow and get better but if it doesn't it means they will continue to treat Faunus as misguided and horrible characters. And I refuse to support a show that uses my likeness to get brownie points from people who are unaffected by such messages.

personally when i reblogged this i took it to mean all nonblack artists who benefit from black aesthetics (like many many western artists), not specifically bts (as they are not mentioned), although i see now that the poster is most likely a kpop fan and talking about them.

uhh feel free to disagree with me but pointing out how black creators have been robbed of awards in favor of those who are simply profiting from their aesthetics isn’t...”not the conversation” as you put it? it’s a separate conversation that needs to happen as well. also, i’d like to point out, it’s a conversation that is and has been brought up around every major western awards show for years, whether a kpop group is in attendance at all.

an issue that i see with your perspective is that it centers kpop and a group you are a fan of in a much older, larger, conversation. the way i see it, the conversation hinted at in the above tweet is about the appropriation of black aesthetics to gain legitimacy(???? the stereotypical “black cool factor” ???), and you are inserting kpop into it rather than the other way around.

i’m not going to adjudicate whether bts deserved to win or not, i don’t watch award shows or listen to their music so i don’t really care tbh. i know enough to say that in the past bts has faced racism in the western music scene (for example, the creation of the kpop category at the bbmas (less talked about since it’s in our more distant past but the fact that a latin category exists too is really??? questionable, to say the least, especially when artists in either category are eating artists from the US alive in terms of mv views and streams at least.)) I think that it’s possible to have discussions about the difficulties that bts and antiblack racism perpetuated by them and many, many, many others without delegitimizing either one.

based on what you’ve said i think it might be worthwhile to consider why you perceive discussions of antiblack racism as a racist attack on nonblack poc and an act that “applauds racism.”

i’m going to assume that you sent this ask as well, and i would refer you to what was said previously. once again, the tweet says “nonblack people,” not asians. and while i do believe that there is great value in focusing on a common oppressor, the role of nonblack poc (not just asians!) in contributing to the oppression of black people is also important.

i believe that we are capable than having a more nuanced conversation than the one that you perhaps inadvertently advocate for.

before i start this, i just want to say that i’m not trying to start discourse or anything. i honestly do not care if the creators of that post see this or know about this or whatever, i just want to talk about the specific things that bothered me because when i am upset i have to get my thoughts out. so scroll past if you don't care as this post is long (this is also going to be very incoherent as it is 2am)

1. this is just nitpicky but this person says if you can't have a job you shouldn't engage in nsfw stuff but like. 16-year-olds can have jobs. my 16-year-old friends have jobs. tommy can have a job (i mean, he already does). also, surely if tommy is ‘too young’ to be interacting with people who make nsfw jokes, the op of that post is too? considering they're a minor, i feel like according to their rules they shouldn’t be watching that stuff at all. unless you want every single person to wait until their 18th birthday to Use the Internet, i feel like this point falls apart quite quickly. the second person says that people like tommy will make younger kids want to get into streaming, but ask any creator when they started making youtube videos and the answer will be quite young! also, that is not his fault.

2. i don't know if i’ll be able to explain my thoughts about this point perfectly, but the way they talk about adhd makes me feel weird lmao. he is not making hyperfixating seem like the solution to everything! a person with adhd publically displaying their symptoms of adhd and in general just....having adhd is not glorifying it whatsoever! techno would have hyperfixated on that stuff regardless of if he had an audience because that's what people with adhd do! we fixate on things for hours at a time because that's just how our brains work. i’ve farmed wheat for hours in minecraft in order to make as much bread as possible just because my brain felt like it that day. it is not his fault whatsoever if people see him hyperfixating on things and copy him because he is not advocating for people to do that. also, the second person saying for techno to not do something if it makes him stressed while also using it as an example of a hyperfixation is....weird. sometimes people with adhd hyperfixate on things we really don't want to and we have little control over it! and maybe techno hyperfixating on things isn't teaching adhd kids to glorify their hyperfixations maybe it's.....showing them that its ok to do that! it's okay that sometimes you focus on silly or inconsequential things. it can be unhealthy for us, but seeing someone else do it makes me feel not so alone. someone having adhd and living their life with adhd is not an endorsement! also he’s not teaching people that bullying=funny. not to sound harsh, but i beg you to examine your own friendships and realize that that's just how friends Are.

Here’s one you may struggle with: BEING WRONG IS NOT WRONG.

I am allowed to be wrong. I don’t think I am, but if I am, it’s not a crime. If I’m wrong, I’ll be perfectly fine with it. I often backtrack to find out where I went wrong and then readjust my theories. If you were really a reader you’d know that. But you’re not. You’re an anti.

I don’t have much respect for antis.

Mainly because sending people nasty anons IS wrong. Attacking people for not having your headcanons is wrong. Setting up shipwars and going after the “other side” is wrong. Harassing the creators is wrong. Being a bitch makes you bitchy. And I don’t like you. And I don’t need you to like me. You aren’t a part of my internet bubble.

I’m just over here enjoying my favorite show and my OTP. I don’t NEED evidence to do so.

But I’ve got it.

That’s what it means when you stick to the text and collect details from the show we see on screen and write analysis defending your theories with those bits of text as evidence.

That is LITERALLY evidence for Bellarke as the central relationship of the show, Bellarke as soulmates, and Clarke as the hero and main character, with Bellamy, the heart to her head, as the secondary hero and dual protagonist. There is also evidence of Bellarke as a love story. Kissing and having sex is not the only way to show love, in fact, if you need to kiss and have sex to show two characters are in love with each other then your romance is a failure.

On a side note, nothing about B/E is romantic outside of the moments when they are kissing, cuddling, and having sex, or otherwise being VISIBLY in a couple. They NEED the kissing in order to prove that they are in a relationship because otherwise, Mr Blake saves all his passion for his non-romantic partner, and that’s what the story is pointing towards. B/E is not very romantic. The way they interact with each other is not romantic. Or I suppose it’s a *little* romantic so if that’s good enough evidence for you to think b/e is more romantic than Bellamy abandoning his people (including Echo) for the desperate long shot of saving Clarke’s life then spending a day with the villain inside Clarke’s body nagging him about how much he cares about and loves Clarke and how she’s more important than anyone and that’s going to mean he’s sacrificing everyone for her, and then that last, heartrending moment when Bellamy can’t let her die because he needs her, and how from then on they are so tender and intimate and honest and connected with each other while Echo gets a freaking PAT ON THE BACK.

Hey. You do you. Enjoy your ship. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun with that.

I enjoy my ship more than that ship. Plus the love triangle gives it spice. I don’t mind Echo. I’ve NEVER minded Echo. I like her actually, and it’s not backtracking to say so. I’ve never hated her and have gotten nasty anons for NOT hating her and saying even that B/E was okay, not toxic, just not soulmates or endgame.

I am looking forward to season 7 where Echo gets to get reacquainted with Ash and gets to shed her king/spy role and be her own person, who was taken away from her as a child. Which, kind of requires that she stops worshipping her current king aka Bellamy, so that means their relationship is doomed. And I look forward to Bellamy and Clarke finally recognizing that the thing that makes them happy and makes all the struggle worth while is being together, is love, is each other.

If you dont’ want to follow the signs in the show for these developments, that’s your choice. Not mine.

If you want to be annoyed by me minding my own business and happily shipping my OTP, that’s got nothing to do with me. It’s a reflection on you, and your immaturity. IDGAF.

to be honest, most of the UTMV fandom is doing what i am doing with this.

remember dreamtale? remember who made it? yeah? remember how we separated her creation from the fact that shes not a good person in the slightest?

i like dreamtale, but i dont condone the creator being a pedophile nor do i condone pedophilia. thats not going to stop me from loving the shit out of dreamtale, without attributing any of that love to the creator of it.

tl;dr

im just here for the show. i dont give a shit about anything the creators may or may not have done because its not my business and i dont see why i should have to deal with it when i have so many other things to deal with in my real, offline life. i participate in fandom to get away from drama. why should i have to let drama invade my fandom life as well?

that's my two cents. hazbin hotel is a fantastically written show, and im looking forward to seeing what's next with the show and the show only. i do recommend you watch the pilot episode. do your own research and form your own opinions about what you want to do concerning the show.

All you do is tear people down over a character that is not representative of the kind of behavior you portray. You make him into an impossible model minority and get mad when others don’t recognize the inscrutable blob you’ve molded.

The most troubling thing of all is all of this hyperbolic false rhetoric against Scott McCall takes away from the real conversations of racism towards the POC characters on the show (and by the show again Tyler Posey which you all refuse to acknowledge because it doesn’t place the blame on the fans) and it makes it so there’s limited dialog about how to REALLY FIX IT within our fandom.

IT DOES NOT GET FIXED BY PRAISING “BROWN BOY” SCOTT MCCALL and that’s the most racist thing y’all perpetuate.

There is progress when it comes to battling racism within our community and fandom and creators are open to receiving criticism and insight on how to better themselves. They’re resistant to ad hominem attacks on their character from someone they don’t know and who doesn’t even have a base level of respect for them. They deserve a chance to be better before covering them in sh*t and setting them on fire. Especially because many are disabled, lgbtq+ or have other maladies that make them an “other”. They are inclined to be more open and accepting and you’d rather burn our fandom than try to nurture it and grow?

Yeah, you guys really care about racism but you care more about ego and power.

You’re liars, you’re cowards and you’re obvious. Your platform is built on sand and soon people will see you for the grossly racist supremacists you are.

“welp.” Classic said, smiling as he shifted his feet, excited and brimming with anticipation for what he hoped was their true, last fight.

“Well Classic I can tell you that Chara doesn't like Frisk one bit. Chara is on your side, so there is that. You can also blame the askers for this, one of us made the mistake of asking Frisk a question about the multiverse.”

“Well, I’m glad to know I have one human ally in this world.” Classic muttered during the pause as he raised his hand and launched his attack.

“Yes Nightmare! I knew you would get it! Told you that you're smart.”

“Thanks. I just wish I could tell him without being interrupted.” Nightmare said, glaring at Maxie as she shrugged innocently.

“Nightmare, of course you are a good dad. You are better than my parents, although that is a low bar. I think you are great anyway.”

“Whatever you say.” Nightmare said, laying on his back as he retracted his tentacles.

“So guys, how are you gonna keep the brat from loading so you can do this? You have to have a plan!”

“Every time they die, we’ll swap out. Keep them on their toes and curious.” Killer snickered, watching Frisk dodge the bones with masterful ease and boredom.

“if your going to drain frisks DT wait out this timeline and ambush them the second they fall so they never get a save”

“That’s the plan. Get revenge, get a RESET, then drain them.” Dust whispered, eagerly waiting his chance to beat the brat into the ground and turn them into a red mush of flesh and broken bones.

“I can’t save or load on the surface, the only reason I can kill all monsters is because I can save and load.” Frisk whispered, standing before Classic.

“Frisk stop it, you say humanity is cruel but look at yourself! You are showing the worst of our species and it needs to end. You can choose to be kind, you can choose to be the change you wish to see in others but instead you attack the people who cared about you? Stop and look at what you have become, there is so much better you could have done. Please, just stop hurting everyone.”

“I don’t care. I haven’t for a long time.” Frisk said, their eyes filled with bloodlust as they swung their knife at Classic, the punny skeleton grabbing their hands and throwing them across the room.

“I do. I get completely exhausted, and the only way to get stronger in the time I’m given is something I’ve tried. Twice.” Classic said laughing at Frisk’s shocked face.

“Though I mostly fake it nowadays, fighting the Dark Sanses really got me into shape.” Classic said, chuckling darkly as Frisk got up and charged. It was pathetic.

Most Errors were never really shown much kindness in their multiverse, most have been tortured by the creators and even the other versions of yourself and your friends. Most Errors need a helping hand, and are too scared of being hurt more to actually accept it. Also there is the touch phobia most have, which is usually a trauma induced phobia in most people who have it so it makes sense Error would have it. So what are you going to do about your Error? Are you going to try to help him?”

“I’ve tried reaching out several times, I’ve apologized for using him like I did when we fought my Nightmare, and I leave him gift baskets with chocolate and sewing supplies. I think they’re working, he’s not as active, but I hope it’s not because of the creators in my world.” Alt said, looking at Classic. He was fighting the human

“Killer, Dust.... you are both precious little beans who love their new found family and will protect them with everything you have. I don't care what you say you are adorable!”

“No we are not.” They said in unison, they were barely audible over Frisk’s screams of frustration at Sans’ new patterns. Though they haven’t died yet.

“Oh Stretch, you must mean the YandereBerry, yeah he is unsettling to say the least.”

“Ink genuinely made one, and then never made another. Everyone stayed away from our AU for a week after that incident.” Stretch said, shuddering at the memory.

“I hate him as much as humanity.” Frisk said, their arm crackling and bones fragments grinding against each other as they swung their blade again.

“I know those ships made you guys cringe but what they put other Red's through is worse. He gets shipped with everyone and everything, including(but not limited to) his brother, blue, the pet rock, classic, black, lust, horror, jerry(ew), and of lust.”

“Oh boy. Do not get me started.” Red grumbled, growling as he remembered one time Ink rambled on about all the ships involving him when he confessed to having a crush on Blue. It held a sour taste in his mouth as he didn’t know if it was fake or not, or if his feelings were fake or not. But he kept going as he was happy and no one was being hurt.

“I feel bad for him, he really has it the worst.” Blue said, kissing him on the cheek or whatever the equivalent was.

“He does, when I say everyone I mean EVERYONE. Every single sans has been shipped with him at least once, as have the papyrus's, he has been shipped with every monster in his universe and the kid. Red is in a lot of smut pieces, and it is kinda weird.”

“Yeah, it’s almost like he has a lot to choose from.” Black said, and Red’s eye narrowed at the sight of the promiscuous skeleton.

“killer and dust so aren't you both technically from the classic timeline”

“We are.” They said in unison.

“Oh Black, how are you planning to win Blue over?”

“I will ruin Red’s reputation with scandals and swoop in to comfort Blue in his time of betrayal. Then I will set up many circumstances where he will be in danger and I shall save him. I will also gift him with many great items worthy of Blue’s magnificence!” Black said, whispering so no one would hear him.

“Hey Frisk why don't you just talk to us for a minute and pay no mind to anything happening, you can just load if something happens anyway so no need to keep your guard up. Stop hunting down monsters and tell me a bit more about who you are, what is a few minutes?”

“A distraction. If better executed, it may have worked.” Frisk said, smirking.

“Guys please tell me this plan of yours is gonna work, do not let this murder child into the multiverse. And Paps, I know you are the forgiving type but they need to be stopped, if they somehow get access to the doodlesphere there is no telling what they might do.”

“No kidding. They are determined, more so than any monster or human we know. It’s horrifying to know what they would do if they got access to the entire multiverse.” Papyrus said, sighing as he watched what was going on, it hurt even though he had watched several times.

“I just want everyone to be ok.”

“So do I.” Papyrus said, shaking a bit.

“Yikes, Paps gave up on someone? I mean I get it, they are doing some pretty awful things just cause they can, not for any reason either. They don't have any reason to hurt anyone other than they can and they feel above consequences. Show them they are not, please.”

“With pleasure.” Dust said, watching Frisk fall down dead and swapping with Classic right as Frisk came back.

Frisk wasted no time before they were stabbed in the arm. And then their other arm, and legs. With cries of agony they fell to the ground and Dust laughed.

“Pathetic. This is what killed me millions of times? What drove me into insanity? Pathetic.” Dust said, as the kid got up and dodged.

“Well, I’m going to admire watching you die.” Dust said, firing blasters at the kid who was much slower as they beld out.

“So Error, your dad knows who you really are, or were... wanna try and guess? I mean you now know you were from a split off of the classic timeline so you should be able to narrow it down.”

“Out of everyone, the chances of them getting into the anti-void is slim, and Ink did entertain Geno as a possibility. And since I did hear a ‘G’ through the censor, I guess I was Geno. Meaning I had to watch them all go crazy at one point in time, though not Horror, he was before any Genocide.” Error said, shaking with rage.

“Is geno helping too? with stopping the brat?”

“Hell yeah!” Geno said, he was in the save screen. He would be going last.

“Error the ship with you and Ink is def a different multiverse. It is usually consensual and both are happy together in most cases. There are a few Yandere Inks but only a few. Error makes me happy.”

“Yandere and Ink are two words that shouldn’t be together. In any sentence. Ever.” Error said, shuddering at the thought.

“Also I will admit to being a tad biased in favor of the Dark Sans's, but just a tad.”

“As are we! I hope that Frisk is murdered and never comes back!” Maxie said, and the other Creators cheered.

“So Dream, Nightmare... what pranks can I help with?”

“The glitter prank.” Dream said and Red looked at him, and Dream turned away, snickering to himself.

“Can't Error use his strings to capture Frisk's soul, like when he is destroying a universe so the kid can't just reset?”

“We could, but some souls have gotten out before. We don’t want to risk him escaping.” Error said.

“Hmm, would be nice if you could somehow give Chara a second chance. They certainly deserve to be part of your family more than Frisk does. Chara still sees you all as their family.”

“They do? You can talk to them?! Oh my god.” Toriel said, falling to her knees as Asgore held his hand over his mouth.

“Well, it seems this is one big mess. Bigger than I thought.” Flowey said, looking at his former parents with an odd feeling.

“See Nightmare, it is frustrating to not just be able to tell them the answer right? Stupid censoring.”

“It sure is.” Nightmare said, sighing.

there’s so, so, SO much nonsense surrounding this game that i’m gonna do my best to separate it into digestible bits, with its own categories. even then this is... wow. it’s big.

tl;dr: dana loves incest porn, elle loves guy on guy rape, and the both of them are friends with at least one pedophile

dana rune has run, is still running an incest zine (please visit my faq on what i think about “thats not really incest” and “it’s just fictional!”). The Arcana, as a dev team, clearly does not care, as shown in their e-mail responses.

dana also very much doesn’t care and has reacted to any criticism on this by dismissing people and blocking actual incest victims who tried to contact her about it claiming it was for her “mental health”

in some tweets she claims she “interprets” the characters as not siblings, but she never really cared enough to cover her ass when it all began (she happily admits she’d “cross the incest line”)

dana has commissioned artists who also ship incest, draw near-pedophilic art that’s supposed to pass as acceptable because the character involved is supposedly not a minor despite looking like a child down to wearing pigtails (the character is also wearing a racist-ass belly dancer outfit), AND even made white-washed fanart of The Arcana.

dana follows twitter user kapymui who also produces incestuous Fire Emblem art

dana has retweeted omocat long after it came out that omocat is, at the very least, consuming pedophilic content (on “omocat didn’t know what shota meant!”: yes they did)

moving on, elle has a long, long, LONG history of fetishizing mlm and the rape and abuse that comes with yaoi and had a rich, RICH “yaoi” tag before they deleted their tumblr

they curiously deleted their tumblr right after i made this reblog

shortly after that, tumblr user thalassiq remade and started attacking and insulting any blogs criticizing them - even people providing support in IMs. Since this doesn’t match Dana and Elle’s normal pity parties I’m personally willing to believe they were just a person wanting to start shit - but it’s so telling how Elle used this chance to dismiss everyone who disagrees with them by calling them “children” and did not even bother to offer a kind word to people who were harassed and even had their trauma mocked by this person. It costs 0 dollars to say “that was not me but I’m sorry about people who were hurt.”

Dana and Elle are close with Ava’s Demon creator Michelle Czajkowski aka that one person who endorses child porn of her characters, and even had her draw a promo image for the game. Michelle has been creating highly sexualized content of her minor characters for a while now.

This isn’t the only time Dana and Elle use their videogame aimed at young teens to showcase their kinks and fetishes. I have no issue with NSFW or titillating content, as long as it’s rated accordingly. This content is NOT and it’s a blatant disregard for their audience just to have a larger, more pliable demographic and have more money sent their way.

if you start your argument with “well, teenagers look at porn” 1. shut up 2. theres a HUGE difference between teenagers going after adult content aimed at adults, and adults creating content they know will be seen by kids barely starting puberty

as pointed above, dana has 0 qualms literally commissioning people who make whitewashed fanart of her own fucking game that’s supposed to be all about the inclusivity and safe spaces

thearcanagame blog has a pattern of reblogging whitewashed fanart (before you come in swinging with the good ole “ITS THE LIGHTING”: 1. no it isnt 2. the artist should’ve picked better lightning then 3. i draw and post shit online too so dont come telling me i just dont understaaaand),

fanart of their fat characters showed skinnier than they are in their sprites (although to be real for a moment - Portia is curvy at most and them behaving she’s fat rep is HILARIOUS).

going back to NSFW content: nadia and asra are overwhemlingly sexualized in the game, and were the first to have sexualized CGs and sprites introduced.

CGs: Asra’s here, here aND HERE, Nadia’s here with a NSFW warning because she’s just got her whole fucking ass out. Sprites: Asra’s thank god for whoever compiled it all in one image, Nadia’s and once again, NSFW warning lmfao!

Julian’s sprites on the other hand are noticeably tamer, including the one where he’s fucking strapped in leather. His only sexual (NSFW warning because its literally softcore tentacle porn WHICH, ONCE AGAIN, SHOULDN’T BE PUT IN A GAME AIMED AT 13YOS) CGs were also included months after Nadia and Asra received any of theirs.

Through all of the updates, people have constantly requested that Asra and Nadia’s sexualization be toned down, and time after time The Arcana just churned out fetishistic, hypersexualized content at an absurd rate, especially when compared to the one white love interest.

Oh, speaking of the one white love interest: Julian is based off of Jeff Goldblum (this is not spectulation - they p much bring it up at any given time) but like. If Jeff Goldblum was white. They base their favorite love interest off their supposed favorite man in the world but casually leave his skin tone behind. Lmao.

they also play favorites very obviously - in the prologue, Nadia and Asra have a romance paid scene each. Julian has a scene... that requires no coins. Julian was also the first LI to receive three CGs, two of them requiring no coins, while both Asra’s and Nadia’s first CGs were behind a paywall

Dana and Elle have been notoriously skittish about confirming or denying their characters’ ethnicities. After hyping for weeks on thearcanagame that they would confirm the character’s races they basically made a post that amounted to “well they’re not white lol!”

they only relented after the perfectly understandable outrage... and posted a thread about it on Elle’s twitter. Nothing on the actual thearcanagame blog. Anyway, here’s the thread. Note how there’s mention of Julian being Jeff Goldblum... but nothing about him and Portia being Jewish (or “fantasy Jewish” as it were).

The one time they did confirm their jewishness dana then backpedaled and said she shouldn’t have done that lol.

another fun tidbit of how well The Arcana handles race and how much it cares about feedback from fans: an ask was sent about an anon begging for Nadia to step on them. The blog, with the finesse of a bunch of horny dumbasses, didn’t just publish the ask, but approved of it (even though the fans of color had long, long, LONG been telling everyone not to fetishize Nadia into a “step on me kween” wet dream). People were outraged, of course, and the blog ~apologized~ and said they were still learning.... then a new chapter included a scene of Nadia stepping on the Apprentice. 🙃

not to mention elle, on their twitter, made a passive aggressive “women can be doms?” tweet, trying to twist it into a “yr oppressing women” angle (when the issue is that women of color are always constantly portrayed as aggressive and domineering)

Now for a wombo combo of racism and Elle’s fetishization of mlm:

the devs have spoken at length of how Julian’s and Asra’s relationship was quite unhealthy. In a paid scene in Asra’s route, they’re depicted as Asra being disgusted w Julian touching him+Julian following Asra to his shop when Asra refused his offer to go with him (aka julian... stalked him lmfao).

.......... this scene is promptly followed by a highly sexual scenario where Julian’s pain fetish is played up. Remember how this game is rated PG-13? Me neither. Asra’s previous disgust with Julian is also forgotten, for some reason (and by some reason i mean Elle wants to make them fuck w/o buildup or logic).

Then Asra’s route has yet another paid scene dedicated to Asrian, even though he’s supposed to not even like Julian! And be head over heels with the Apprentice! But Elle just has to make these two be entangled despite insisting their relationship was not good for either of them!

Now here’s the kicker: Julian doesn’t have any paid scenes related to his romance with Asra. Note how it’s one of the brown LIs whose route is highjacked by the white LI, but not vice versa. Hmmmmm.

Now, on the topic of Asra: thearcanagame has said repeatedly that he’s nb and uses he/him pronouns, and promised (since last year) that there would be dialogue where he speaks about his gender

as of the making of this post such dialogue still does not exist

so basically asra is the nb to dumbledore’s gay: anyone who just plays the game w/o keeping up with the official blog has no idea of what asra’s gender is supposed to be.

aka he’s not nb. he’s just a cis guy. the arcana just doesn’t want to put its money where its mouth is, i dont care if elle is nb themself. the team made a promise which has not been fulfilled yet and i suspect will not be.

instead, our introduction to canon nb characters is... these two.

By “these two” i mean neither vulgora nor valdemar are even fucking human, and stick out like sore thumbs with their monstruousness.

so our nb rep is... non-human villains. a few books later one of Nadia’s sisters with they/them pronouns shows up, but that’s too little too late on top of the fact that we should’ve known Asra was nb from the first to begin with. It’s a fucking embarrassment and an insult.

at least two villains are visibly disabled (Lucio’s missing arm and Volta’s blind eye+intentionally asymmetrical face). Julian’s eye doesn’t count because, spoilers, he’s not lacking an eye and even if he was it’d still be hidden behind a dashing eyepatch instead of grotesquely displayed as a sign of his lacking morality.

BUT WAIT! IT DOESN’T EVEN END THERE!

The Arcana Exploits The App Business Model To Price Their Full Game at $500, $1000 if the three extra routes make it out, and they never delivered their Kickstarter rewards:

the original price per route was planned on being $1.99

they took that “subject to change” really seriously, it seems, because now each route, once the game is fully out, is estimated to cost around $170 each.

the tl;dr is basically what’s listed in the beginning of this section, but other highlights from that post are: the use of addictive gambling mechanics such the Wheel of Fortune, and the dazzling calls to action in the new mini-game.

something that The Arcana supporters forget (or choose to ignore) is the fact that for a long, long time the game did not have the mini-game or the log-in rewards for coins. Players depended only on the gambling of the WoF or paying absurd amounts of money for the new chapters.

the devs went from playing the victims who were unable of controlling prices to (as spoken of in the link from mysticmicrotransactions) saying the making of the game (a pathetic little app game backed by a studio and a kickstarter) justifies the prices

they also gave people false hope about maybe changing the prices in the future, all while bleeding money from loyal players in “micro” transactions

the arcana literally added a $99.99 coins option on their latest update

in case it hasn’t sunk in yet: you can pay a hundred dollars upfront to the arcana, and you still will not have access to the whole game

there is no defense to this

“it’s free stop whining” let me explain:

“spend months on end accumulating fake currency or pay hundreds of dollars up-front to be able to play” is a scummy business model no matter how you look at it

if i can spend $60 upfront to play an AAA game there’s no excuse to demand more than that for a game with much smaller and, honestly, inferior content

the combination of there being already far and few games featuring lgbt characters and characters of color AND the little cult of personality set up by Dana and Elle makes people feel that spending money to support them is an acceptable expense.

it’s not

manipulating people into spending ridiculous amounts of money and then claiming “it’s their choice” is just scummy business, baby, and thats all the arcana does

the devs are brats who instead of admitting $500 is absurd for a game instead write petty little caricatures into their game - like, lbr: dana, elle, if i could afford diamonds in my hair i wouldn’t have even bothered with your shitstain of a game

despite bragging that ppl would get the full story w/o needing to pay, the paid scenes are pretty much required - the first few books of julian’s route have no romance without accessing any of the paid options. you dont even get so much as a kiss in without handing coins over. many, many people were baffled when julian had a teary break-up scene when from their perspective they hadn’t even started building a relationship.

and i’ve been aware of their bullshit for near a whole year now!
