Look at that face. That's a very big (menacing) smile for someone you're seeing for the very first time. The way his entire body puffs up it makes him look so eager, and there's a lot I can do with that (¬‿¬)

Also just the fact that Alastor isn't even doing anything. He's just standing there, staring up at Adam (albeit also menacingly), and Adam immediately went over there, no hesitation.

There were so many other people he could've gone after first, like Charlie or Vaggie, but, nope, he's going to the freaky-looking smiling deer man first.

Love that for me.

Here he was with several other heroes fighting one of the biggest villains in his world, Monstrous Tengu he was called, or M.T just to piss him off- a 12 foot tall bag of unstable anger and super powers. Everyone had one power that could evolve to stronger forms as they grew- this man was an anomaly, he had several vastly different powers.

"Rubba band, I should of known, you'd be a thorn in my side yet again!" The masked villain hissed.

"What can I say, I love being a pain in the ass, you came to my city, and I'm gonna protect it- BET ON THAT!" Desmond would charge enlarging his fist to attack the giant, sending him back a bit.

"This is going on too long....and more heroes are coming- if I get outnumba'd ; Well I've been practicing this!" A grin would spread on the Tengu's face, as his hands crackled with energy, a portal forming in the palm of his hands. he'd turn to Desmond.

"Care to take a trip with me RUBBA BAND!?" He'd beat his mighty wings and fly towards Desmond, opening up a portal right infront of him. He was close enough Desmond couldn't escape and far enough no other heroes could interfere.

Before Desmond knew it, everything went white a moment, then he saw, himself hurling towards the city streets of...someplace he didn't know, but there were people below. "Heads up people!" He'd use his powers to parachute himself so he wouldn't hit anyone. Landing normally, then he'd see M.T swoop past them all, scaring the civilians as des watched him get further and further.

"Damn it! Kal-li can you track him?"

'I can try but it will take time.' His visor lit up a feminine voice picked up.

Des just stood there, looking, not paying attention to the people around him ogling his tail.

I think that one of the reasons why people misinterpret Wylan's character and arc, among others, is because they misinterpret the relationship between him and Kaz. This post has kind of mitosised off from the BFWP (Big Fucking Wylan Post) I'm writing because it's a bit of a different focus and constitutes its own post.

A lot of people talk about Wylan's character and development as though it's meant to match Kaz's - starting out as a nice kid who the city forces to become amoral, indifferent to violence, and well-versed in crime. These qualities are usually talked about with a weird reverence as an irrefutable symbol of "badassery", as though it's always a positive development for any character regardless of the story's narrative, which annoys me but is not the topic of this post. That's part of the BFWP's job.

Following Kaz's exact development is not the point of Wylan's character. The point is that Kaz and Wylan narrative foils - very similar in many ways, but with a fundamental difference that creates the "broken mirror" effect/shows how they could have turned out if they'd chosen differently. I think that difference is how they respond when they climb out of the harbor after their respective betrayals. Narratively, Ketterdam represents a very harsh system that presents the people struggling there with very few options. You can either choose to ditch decency, play by the Barrel's rules, and live, or you can hold on to decency and die.

When Kaz returns to the streets after Jordie's death, he chooses the first option. He copes with what happened through ideas of revenge, and to survive long enough to see it he quickly turns to thievery and violence. He thinks to himself after he robs a kid for money and food that it was much easier to survive when you've left decency behind. He survived through violence, creating the Dirtyhands persona around himself for protection.

When Wylan has to fend for himself, he choses the second option. He finds "honest work" at the tannery, where they exploit workers and expose them to toxins. He wonders if he'll live long enough to use his savings to leave the city, or if the chemicals would kill him first. He was smart enough to steal and survive, but he chose decency, and with it, he chose death. There are a number of reasons why he chose differently than Kaz despite their similarities - his older age and thus more developed moral code, having no one to avenge but himself when he believed himself worthless, his more privileged upbringing, and his relatively low drive to live. Alone, he would have died.

Then Kaz steps in. Kaz's role in all the crow's lives is that, intentionally or not, his ruthless rule of the Barrel creates a sort of haven that allows them to survive where they would have died had they stayed alone. Wylan is a really clear example of this, and though Kaz's intentions were at least partly self-serving, his involvement both kept Wylan from dying of exposure or street violence as well as prevented him from needing to do the more terrible things that it takes to survive in the Barrel. Throughout the books, we see Kaz kind of taking the brunt of enacting violence in Wylan's place - traumatizing Smeet's daughter, killing the clerk on the lighthouse. Wylan could get by making explosives in the workshop rather than having to shoot or stab or beat the life out of people. And at the end of the series, Kaz sees to it that he never will have to. Of course Wylan did bad stuff to survive when working with the Dregs, it's the Barrel. But the extent is greatly lessened because of Kaz's involvement.

Wylan's arc was never about becoming comfortable with violence, or becoming just like Kaz - the way people characterize him as some sort of ruthless murder mastermind is inaccurate and redundant with Kaz's character. He isn't nonchalant or celebratory about crime or death or violence by the end of the book. He doesn't HAVE to become like Kaz, because Kaz himself gave him the space to continue being decent, intentionally or otherwise. Understanding that dynamic is important to understanding what Wylan is like as a character and as a person. If you assume Wylan's trajectory is to become "Kaz 2.0", then you're going to mischaracterize him. I've seen posts about how Kaz was the Jordie that he didn't have to Wylan, and I think that makes a lot more sense. Because Kaz is willing to do the horrible things in his stead, Wylan has the third option otherwise impossible in the Barrel - maintaining his decency and surviving.

i'm actually very fond of the idea of ramuda having a soft spot for kuko after the events of the when six colors drama track. Like not only did kuko accept his apology after he broke him and ichiro up, saying his genuine apology has value, but also upon seeing how honobono treated the ramuda clones after they 'broke', he was the /only/ one to react to that and call her disgusting, must've mean a lot to ramuda! And if we treat ARB recent events as semi-canon(?) Kuko seems to have genuinely forgave ramuda and easily gets along with him which i think is sweet! :') it did get me thinking if ramuda would still try to make it up to him in some way by trying to gift him clothes or treat him to food but kuko sees right through that and tells him to stop it since what's done is done and that only makes ramuda feel guiltier lol

kuukou forgiving ramuda instantly had to have been very healing for him 🥺🥺🥺 like i still think it's very cute how gentaro and dice were on sasara and kuukou's teams for the mixed up track, and those were the two who forgave ramuda without fuss 😭😭😭😭

kuukou and ramuda have a lot of little things that idk are meant to narratively connect them since they’ve only had like 1.5 canon interactions and a handful of arb interactions lol

like ramuda inherited empty candy, kuukou’s set to inherit kuugen temple, and one of the kanji in kuugen reads as ‘empty’. ramuda has always wanted a real posse and kuukou stresses real friends who you can call family. ramuda fears ghosts and kuukou can communicate with them, ramuda struggles with having a true self, kuukou is always working on becoming his ideal self THERES A LOT LOL it'd be great if they could be a leader duo too 😭😭😭

🖤🌸Speaking of byakuya with people from Hueco mundo, Byakuya would make a certainly interesting pair if he was with Gin. They grew up together, but they are quite different. Byakuya with an s/o like gin, or gin himself would be so interesting to see play out tbh

I love the idea of these two together!

While they were on the opposite ends of the spectrum growing up, Byakuya living a life of luxury. In a manor, servants, a family around him. He didn’t want for nothing, was born with a sliver spoon in his mouth. He had a life of greatness already laid out before him.

Not to say he didn’t work hard. He did, he trained for uncountable hours, honing his craft, perfecting his movements and building his strength. He strived for perfection and greatness. He wasn’t going to be a good leader because it was expected of him, he was going to be a great leader because he made the sacrifices needed to become one.

While Gin had nothing. No family, money, home. Everything he had he begged borrowed and stole. He became strong because he had to. It was what was needed to survive, especially after his spiritual pressure grew, and he needed food. Gin found his own family in Matsumoto. (This whole love story breaks me 😭 but that’s for another day)

Not only did he have himself to take care of, he CHOSE to take care of this person, his friend. He decided his own future, his own path, and worked hard to achieve it, but we all know what spanner got thrown in that works

So while Byakuya and Gin lived completely different lives. They had something in common. They were both deprived of a normal, happy childhood. We’re both made to grow up far sooner than they should have, from necessity, from politics.

Byakuya from a young age was moulded to be the head of the Kuchiki family, he had expectations far beyond that a child should bare. Pride and nobility customs were thrust upon him at a young age. He had to present himself a certain way, hold himself to a high standard, be judged every day of his young life.

While Gin, already living a touch life, never knowing where his next meal would come from, witnessed the most painful thing he never imagined. He watched as his friend. His only family, the only good thing in his life get some of her soul ripped from her for Aizens evil plans.

He saw her own childhood, her innocence ripped from her, someone he swore to protect. He couldn’t do that as a kid. So he worked his ass off. Became a prodigy even, excelled through the academy, fooling Aizen all the while, working his whole damn life to right that wrong. To give back Matsumoto what was taken from her, what he failed to protect.

I feel Byakuya feels the same about his wife, Hisana. He vowed to always love her, always protect her, keep her safe and happy. When she got sick, Byakuya felt like a failure. He couldn’t save her, couldn’t take away her pain. For all his strength, wealth, status, there wasn’t a damn thing he could do to save her. And I think that broke him, hardened him.

I believe these reasons are why Byakuya and Gin could form a bond. Sharing in the same guilt and loss they faced. No one can understand what they went though, except the other.

However, their personalities are vastly different with would be most entertaining to watch 😂 Byakuya is prideful, respectful, reserved. He appreciates beauty, nature and art. Quiet morning sharing tea, looking out over his favourite pond. He isn’t flashy or loud, but that isn’t to be mistaken for a lack of passion. Byakuya can be very passionate, especially about those he loves. He also has a temper, more in control now with age and experience. Not the hot head he once was as a teenager. But it’s still there, hidden under the surface waiting for that spark to ignite it

While Gin is flashy, sarcastic, he loves the thrill of getting in your mind, of bringing out a massive reaction. While he does have a soft side, and would be serious when the time called for it, his favourite way to spend his day would be to get under Byakuyas skin

Small lies. Drops of doubt, teasing words. Everything he can do to slowly build up that pressure hidden away until it explodes in a passionate eruption.

Sex between the pair would often start out that way. Emotions running high, passionate, burning. Byakuya found the fastest way to shut Gin up was to kiss him, and Gin enjoyed it so much he vowed to never stop talking, hoping Byakuya would shut him up
