I’m gonna say it, a lot of older splatoon fans went way too hard on rotm for absolutely no reason other than the set there expectations for a children’s game too high. Rotm wasn’t a disappointment it was really good for what it was but I think a vast majority of splatoon fans have a very fanon influenced idea of what this games story is and they get unreasonably mad when the game tells a different story.

So I watched The Rise of Skywalker.

Well, that was awful....And I'm a chill person, I don't tend to get upset at movies (heck, the first two didn't bothered me) so I'm surprised that this movie managed to upset me lmao

The only things I geniunely liked was Luke being so sassy even as a ghost and all the jedi talking from the stars (and i think it could have been done so much better)

I also was really enjoying Rose, Poe and Finn, but anything else...holy cow

Rant under the cut (people telling me to change things about my blog [like the way I tag things???] and just general Rings of Power hate towards me

Hey just so you know, it's not my job to cater my personal blog (that I made for fun) to your personal preferences. This is a Rings of Power & LOTR blog. I am going to post about both because it's my blog. If you only follow me for my Rings of Power stuff, great! If you only follow me for my LOTR stuff? Also great! follow me for both? Awesome! Spectacular even! but like, If you don't like one of the fandoms I post about, then block the tags or just ignore it instead of going onto MULTIPLE OF MY POSTS and messaging me, telling me what to change about MY BLOG.

This is all because I tagged something Rings of Power related with a LOTR tag and a few people got mad at me (comments and messages) saying that "The Rings of Power isn't LOTR??? Can you not tag it like that I don't want to see Rings of Power stuff. I follow for LOTR" like what???

They exist in the same universe whether you like it or not?? And lots of people tag TROP stuff with LOTR tags too. Plus, sometimes I am talking about both in the same post (like comparing and contrasting things that are the same or different from the show and movies) so I am going to use both tags for that. Besides, why are you telling a complete stranger who posts her stuff for fun to make her blog okay for YOU? I make my blog and posts for me so... Maybe just block me and move on if you don't like how I post things, or tag things.

Also, it's not my problem if you don't like Rings of Power?? Don't interact with it then?? Like, you can control that? My blog is pretty clearly a Rings of Power blog. I literally have Morfydd Clark's Galadriel as my pfp lol

If you don't like it don't interact with it. I could care less if somebody hates the show I genuinely enjoy because it doesn't affect my enjoyment if someone dislikes it. Just don't be a bully and don't tell me how to run my blog because it's upsetting when the only comments I get are "I don't like this show can you stop posting about it," and "Don't use those tags pls I don't like seeing Rings of Power on my feed."

Cater your experience to you and I'll cater my experience to me. If you are going to be entitled and tell me how to run my blog, I am just going to block you <3

also since i've already seen people try to turn this into a thing i will just say now, as someone who loves Ashrym and doesn't particularly care for Callowmoore, that my feelings about the two aren't really connected. i love Fearne as a character and i don't see her as "getting in the way of my ship," and honestly i don't think of Ashrym and Callowmoore as being in competition at all! i would be just as happy with some sort of Fearne/Ashton/Orym polycule becoming canon as i would simply Ashrym.

ultimately what i care about is doing right by the characters; making choices that are both honest to who they are and compelling for their story. i love Ashrym because i think their dynamic has done a great job of developing both Orym and Ashton, and i'm far more interested in what they actually say to each other than whether they end up becoming romantic or not. I actually think both Orym and Ashton have a considerable amount of work to do before they're ready for a serious relationship! and if they were to get together i'd want it to be a much slower burn than, for example, Imodna, who were already so close and so intimate that it made sense for their romance to be like that right out the gate.

and the same sentiment applies to Callowmoore; i'm actually quite interested to see how Fearne and Ashton's dynamic could develop, and i think there's a lot of potential there. but it hasn't reached a place where a romance between the two would really feel earned. so yeah, I'm glad Ashton pushed the brakes on that, regardless of their reasons, both because its absolutely what he would do and because it gives them and Fearne the chance to develop a dynamic outside of just whether they're in love with each other.

Honestly I've been trying my best to be charitable and not hate Firefly the character (she's fine. I think if she's supposed to be soooo important to us Aventurine's 3+ hour backstory should have gone to her instead but she's fine), but the whole TBxFirefly romantic subplot shlock contained pretty much every clumsy trope that I despise in a romantic subplot so I didn't think it was cute, I hated it.

On top of that there's the ongoing trend of games letting you choose your player character's gender but not the gender of your love interest, which is basically the developers saying loud and clear "WE ONLY CARE ABOUT STRAIGHT MALE GAMERS" and I'm tired of every single game doing this. Honestly if it continues and we don't have the choice to either reject FF or choose someone else it'll just be too cringe and I'll probably drop the game.
