there   has   been   so   much   loss   since   the   battle   against   ambessa   had   been   won   ,   leaving   both   zaun   &   piltover   to   clean   up   the   mess   &   try   to   carry   on   with their lives.   it's   been   a   difficult   time   for   everyone   involved   in   the   uprising   ,   especially   for   violet   ,   who   has   lost   her   father   figure   once   again   ,   as   well   as   her   sister   all   in   one   day.   the   death   of   her   own   mother   led   her   down   a   dark   path   she   thought   she'd   be   strong   enough   to   avoid   ,   but   to   lose   people   constantly   through   your   life   ━━   she   doesn't   know   how   vi   has   managed   to   stay   strong   all   this   time.   she   is   someone   so   many   people   look   up   to   ,   unwavering   in   her   resolve   to   do   the   right   thing   ,   while   also   trying   to   make   peace   with   those   she   loves.   it's   one   of   the   many   traits   she   loves   about   her   ,   her   heart   always   shining   through   despite   the   hard   exterior   she   tries   to   show.   even   now   as   they   sit   in   her   bedroom   ,   resting   &   recovering   after   enduring   so   many   injuries from the fight   ,   caitlyn   finds   she   wants   nothing   more   than   to   see   vi's   smile   again   ,   to   help   her   through   the   grief   &   to   keep   that   golden heart   of   hers   as   intact   as   she   can.   the   pain   of   losing   a   father   &   a   sister   will   never   leave   her   ,   but   she   hopes   she   can   be   a   salve   of   sorts   ━━   someone   to   lean   on   so   she   doesn't   feel   alone. never again . . . caitlyn will never leave her.

humor   often   can   be   a   wonderful   tool   when   changing   the   mood   ,   so   caitlyn   decides   to   bring   up   the   topic   of   vi   when   she   was   brawling   in   fights   ,   curious   as   to   what   made   her   change   the   color   of   hair   so   drastically.   ❝   you   don't   wanna   know   ,   ❞   was   her   initial   response   ,   clearly   wanting   to   move   past   it   ,   but   caitlyn   won't   let   her   ,   determined   to   get   a   smile   out of   her.   ❝   oh   ,   but   i   do.   was   the   black   meant   to   be   symbolic   of   something   ?   or   was   that   an   aesthetic   choice   for   your   ❛   persona ?   ❜   it   made   you   look   so   angry   all   the   time.   not   quite   what   i'm   used   to   seeing   ,   though   admittedly   it   had   it's   charm   in   some   ways.   ❞   the   newly   appointed   sheriff   tucks   a   loose lock   of   hair   behind   her   ear   ,   careful   not   to   shift   the   eyepatch   cover   too much in   the   process.   ❝   i   think   i   prefer   this   color   on   you.   ❞   she   points   to   her   hair   ,   the   pink   -   reddish   hue   vibrant   even   in   the   dimly lit room.   ❝   it's   the   color   you   had   when   we   first   met.   when   you   scowled   at   me   behind   those   prison   bars.   ❞   laughter   leaves   her   lips   ,   now   resting   her   head   on   vi's   shoulder   ,   loving the way their fingers fit together as they intertwine. oil & water , & yet , a perfect fit.   ❝   any   color   you   choose   ,   i   would   love.   ❞   caitlyn's   voice   softens   ,   cheeks   burning   bright   red   as   presses   a   kiss   to   the   top   of   her   head.   ❝   it's   not   the   color   i   care   about.   it's   the   person.   believe   it   or   not   ,   i   will   love   that   stubborn   head   of   yours   even   if   it   looks   like   an   angry oil   slick.   so   long   as   it's   you   at   the   end   of   the   day   ,   well   .   .   .   that's   all   i   want.   ❞

pirate radio, december 2023 risograph printed in bright red and black ink

my final graphic design thesis project from about this time last year! i made a sleeve for a diy vinyl record (track featured by my friend aria @everlastingwife ^_^). this process was so much fun to experiment with!! on my first attempt, i tried to 3d print a record using a 3d model i generated from the wav file. this did not work because i didn't have access to any printers with a fine enough resolution — all of the grooves holding the audio information totally melted. for my second try, i used a subtractive process instead and badgered my department into buying the gakken toy record maker, which was essentially a tiny record lathe. the audio quality was total ass but it worked much better and was playable! lot of trial and error involved but i'm overall very satisfied with the final outcome :-] hope to make some cd mixtapes now that i no longer have access to that little lathe.
