Is it just me, or does Kazuichi not seem particularly close to anyone in class 77?

Think about any other member of the cast, and you could probably pick out who they're close to

Hajime, Nagito, and Chiaki are a main-character trio; no denying that.

Fuyuhiko and Peko spent almost their whole lives together

Mikan, Mahiru, Hiyoko, and Ibuki have a camraderie going on (possibly due to Twilight Syndrome Murder Case), with Hiyoko viewing Mahiru as a big sister figure and Ibuki/Mikan being a popular ship

Akane and Nekomaru quickly bond since their talents draw them together

And Sonia and Gundham are the other fan-favorite ship.

The Imposter's close to Ryota, but he doesn't even show up in the game.

And Teruteru dies before he gets the chance to bond with anyone.

Kazuichi, by contrast, survives to the very end without forming any proper relationship with anyone.

"But he's in love with Sonia" - She never returns the feeling. The best she offers him is a "good job". They don't even get to reconcile.

"But Hajime is his soul-bro" In the FTEs, which are wholly optional. More often than not, Hajime seems just as tired of him for being cowardly/a simp/incorrect as the rest of the cast.

Something tells me Kazuichi was slated to be one of the first to die, but got turned into a survivor because he wasn't important enough to kill off... kinda like Yasuhiro.

he gives elden ring a shot and surprise he gets fucking rolled. can’t get past tree sentinel, tries to fight Margit at level 15, put all his stats in intelligence and not enough dex, hasn’t even found a proper staff, picked warrior as his starting class.

he’s ready to uninstall but he paid full price for this game, he’s at least gonna defeat one boss goddammit. so he tries summoning players for aid and just his luck, he summons cooperator WolfChimeraWyvern.

and this cooperator is SO GOOD, he solos Margit without getting hit, and Kabru is just. in awe. so he adds him as a friend.

and that’s how he meets Laios, expert on all things fromsoft (has literally read every item description, knows the most obscure lore by heart, don’t ask him how many hours he’s played, he has all the platinums)

Another day another LU analysis with me!

Dawn 9 is here and with it the end of the next arc of the LU comic is done!

This update did a lot and is also a full 10 pages long! So there's a bunch to unpack!

The letters!

So, Twilight, four and Time all appeared to get letters, with Time getting multiple (More on that later)

Twilights reaction to the super sale was my reaction while playing TP (I recently finished it for the first time! :D) when they opend the store in castle town. Every time i couldnt get there to get potions i was low key gutted.

And Four. Four's grandpa is a mood and i hope we get to meet him.

But... I, as a part of the The team is heading to Skyloft next, team. Believe that Sun has done this on purpose. (Or that the Skyloftians dont have the mail system for him to retrieve anything) but i like to think its the first one.

Hmmm.... Time got multiple letters. (That takes care of the letter discrepancy)

Twi asking about the ranch, Time looking to one of the letters. This tells me one of two things.

The letter he's looking to could be from Malon, and he's genuenly not concerned.

or The letter he's looking at isnt from malon. Infact, by the way he's looking at it i think its from his Zelda. Possibly a report about black bloods in his time period. (As last time we see them in Time's era. They dont actually fight anything)

Twilight being cheeky and Time's dad face are giving me life.

But... as we know, Time is Twilights direct decendant only by a few generations at most. With the infomation we have from Twilight princess with Shade. And from jojo with Time and Twilight. I'm seeing this conversation as more of a father and son conversation over brothers.

And the rest of this conversation follows this same pattern. Twilight is very much being scolded. He's biting back with what he see's as Time's own words. (not that time know's as such)

Twilight looks genuenly shocked to hear this.

From the hero's shade (Time) in twilight princess.

"You may be destined to become the hero of legend...but your current power would disgrace the proud green of the hero's tunic you wear. "

And I'm convinced that theres going to be something bad happens to time directly after the end of the LU timeline.

Time is missing an eye. So we know that Shade and Time are closer together than the hero of time (In game). SO.... If time dosent Die on the adventure with the chain. I'm almost convinced he does almost right after he returns back to his time.

The armour is almost identical. He has most of the scaring which lines up....

If the helmet turns up, then i think Time dies during this adventure. It's the only thing i can see as missing.

Twilight.... Now i think Twilight thinks that the gods are giving him an opportunity to save the hero of time from dying to become the heros shade. but thats the funky thing about timetravel.

(Depending on how Jojo and LU time travels works.)

I believe that the timetravel in LU solidifies the adventures of the other links. And that nothign that occours in this adventure impacts their adventures. Even if something was changed it wouldnt change the past.

IE - Twilight breaking his shadow crystal wouldnt mean that wild didnt remember having the wolf on his adventure - as its already happened.

(I hope that makes sense. - time travel is confusing i see it as an alternative timeline type thing)

It also makes a lot of sense. If Sky is the slowest of the group(Again not confirmed but we have had jokes about his stamina), it makes sense to put him at the front to maintain pace of the group. Stops people going too fast and prevents people from being left behind.

Which i might add has already happened. (Warriors and Hyrule im looking at you.)

We just need to read the boss partterns for a bit so we can then decide how to fight it. You know, like we did when we were in our adventures and had to figure out boss mechanics.

Important that hyrule is saying this as his game is arguably one of the hardest. He probably spent a long time on each boss learning attack patterns.

Oh this arc was fun! So much fun i love it so much okay

Honestly, I could talk about Lucky Patch for hours. I didn't expect to like their dynamic when I played UTY for the first time, yet here we are.

To be honest, I did not like Flowey prior to Undertale Yellow. To me he was merely a side piece to the overall story of Undertale, I disregarded him and focused on the Dreemurr family which in hindsight does include him, just not in the way that I could comprehend back when I was younger. UTY really helped me in understanding his character and realized just why he was so compelling. Now he's one of my top favorite UTDR characters. I still hate this stupid flower though, I wish the worst for him /j /pos.

And Clover, I did not expect to attach myself to this child so much. Clover's personality is rather hard to get unless you were really looking in between the lines and other easily missed dialogue or in-game narration. Thankfully, I am the kind of player that remembers really small details, especially when it comes dialogue and narration. I do admit that I project to Clover a lot, my fics are a testament to that. However, I did enjoy them as a character and protagonist in their own right, removing all biases will not change that. They are one of my comfort characters and favorite characters of all time.

Combining the two, we get Lucky Patch. I do see why most people I've seen in the fandom might not like this dynamic, it's not for everyone especially if you aren't into peeling off layers upon layers of a character. Though, I am really happy that the Lucky Patch enjoyers are much more present here on Tumblr. If you don't look closely or take things at face value, Lucky Patch is a toxic dynamic built on lies and cruelty. Even when looking further, you cannot deny that aspect. But what makes them compelling is that this dynamic is mostly driven by the characters and their psychology. Especially Flowey's. If you do not understand the character, you will most likely miss the intricacies that make them, them.

Clover and Flowey's relationship span across all timelines and routes, so taking their relationship from one route only is not the way to go. That's the reasoning to the most common complaint I see when it comes to them, most non-Lucky Patch enjoyers only see their relationship from one angle or route. Most of the time, they take it from the vengeance route or neutral. My reply to that is that their relationship develops as the routes change. From vengeance, neutral, to pacifist, their dynamic changes in accordance but you can see why when you look closely at the context being given to us throughout their interactions in each route. At the end, you will understand why Flowey lets Clover go. Why he spew his little speech at the end of the true pacifist end.

In other words, I love these tragic doomed toxic codependent flowers so much and I will commit atrocities to defend them.

i’ve loved wanderer’s character so so dearly ever since i started playing the game, but the 4.8 event just made me love him even more…

especially since it shows us a side of him he’s been keeping hidden this whole time: the fact that he actually really deeply fucking cares.

i mean, i knew ever since learning of his past during the sumeru archon quest that he had to still harbor some sort of love and compassion… bc if he didn’t, i feel like it would’ve been made pretty fucking obvious by hyv.

but the truth is that he’s always been like this. he just hid it beneath layers upon layers of hatred and vengeance. he’s been kind and caring since the beginning, but it’s way more evident now bc he’s been healing from his trauma.

i love seeing this “new” side to him and it really warms my heart that he’s healing in a healthy manner. as someone who still deals with trauma, i know it can be HARD to overcome—but with the right support and love from others around you, it gets just a tad bit easier :))

trauma takes a long time to recover from. it’ll take him a while, but just seeing how much he’s been working on healing already, i can tell he’s taking steps in the right direction towards a full recovery.

i think the parallels he shares with durin is another thing that will add to his recovery. meeting someone who shares your experiences can help both of you heal

I kinda think Kirumi and Kazuichi would have a good dynamic; or at the very least, they'd have a lot to talk about.

Kazuichi (arguably) has the most useful talent in his entire class. Anytime something needs fixing, he's the one everyone turns to. He can whip up gadgets in a pinch, too, as seen by his two-way cameras and Minimaru. Yet despite this, Kazuichi is the butt of his peer's jokes. I doubt any one of his peers considers him an actual threat in the killing game, or would mourn him if he's suddenly found dead. He's underappreciated by his classmates.

On the other hand, Kirumi receives plenty of praise for the work she does. She fixes plenty of things, cleans much more and prepares enough meals for everyone on her own. And though she's respected for it, nobody seems to acknowledge that mayhaps Kirumi shouldering every household task and putting everyone before herself is unhealthy. Kirumi is appreciated by those around her, but that doesn't change the fact they're getting a bit too dependant on her.

If they were to meet, Kazuichi would initially envy Kirumi for the praise she receives, but rather than reflect on her own situation, she'd reaffirm Kazuichi much like she does in their DRS interaction. From there, Kaz would definitely do something for her specifically. It's the least he could do, in his eyes.

It really got me how “Shigeo” was all “Reigen has never given a fuck about me so I don’t give a fuck about him” but it’s the fact that Reigen proves that he cares and is willing to kill himself trying to own up to his lies and tell the truth that finally gets the halves of Mob to reconcile because that last piece of emotional dissonance (believing in his master being a good person and giving him good advice and confidence vs doubting his motives and if he’s ever told the truth or is going to) surrounding one of the biggest pillars of his life was finally resolved. This normal ass man owning up to his normal ass mistakes is what gets the boy with the power of a god to accept the part of himself he’s scared of. (And for Reigen, the god-boy who he’s been abusing the trust of accepts HIM for all his good and bad parts.)

Shigeo was really so sure that going full throttle in the other direction (leaning into his powers and doing whatever he wants with them, rejecting Reigen’s core advice) was the right way forward for “them” but it’s Reigen who gets him to realize he was wrong. Because even that part of Mob wanted Reigen to truly believe in him and care for him and accept him for all he is. And when Reigen is fully honest, he can finally believe him. To Shigeo, Reigen has only ever been telling Mob to ignore that part of himself unless it was for Reigen’s own gain. But then Reigen does something truly selfless and tells him “it’s okay, you’re ready, you can do this, you don’t need me anymore, you’re your own person and always have been” and that’s what brings Mob back and gets Shigeo to let go.

Reigen’s last bit of selfishness is that although he’s ashamed of his lies he’s thankful they brought Mob into his life, not for the financial gain but for all the good and all the other people he’s brought into Reigen’s life. That he values Mob for who he is and not just what he can do, and that Mob should value that too.

We joke about this grown man being besties with a middle schooler but the whole show has been centered around their friendship that’s sometimes difficult, always weird, and incredibly important to both of them.

Back at the end of the separation arc, Mob gave Reigen an out when he tried to confess. Mob recognized that Reigen was already beaten and bruised and forced to his lowest and that wasn’t the right time to acknowledge it, it wouldn’t have done anything for either of them. But Shigeo forced Reigen’s hand, made him confront everything he’s done wrong or overlooked when it came to Mob - and Reigen didn’t turn tail and run (“It’s okay to run away when things go south” anyone?), didn’t try to blow it off, didn’t back down from his earnest desire to help Mob even when there’s nothing in it for him but danger and pain. He loves that kid and he needs Mob to know it.

Then at the end of it, Mob was able to safely let out his emotions for the first time in a long, long while - and he trusted that with Reigen. Because he finally felt safe and whole and fully his own person - someone that all the people in his life would accept, starting with the first person that gave him hope after that traumatizing incident.

As Mob said in the fan book - Shishou will always be Shishou.

So firstly, a) I feel called out because YEAH PRETTY MUCH and b) one of the screenshots was literally mine, one of my Gale portraits, so doubly YEAH

So there is no denial here at all, guilty as charged etc, EXCEPT then I sort of tilted my head and went ‘okay but not the husband part, I don’t think like that’

Gale is not my husband, he’s DHAMARI’S husband. None of the characters I ship are MINE in that way, they are with my OCs, not with me.

I’ve literally never thought of a character this way, and I’m only now consciously realising how much I see it around tumblr and how removed I am from that mindset lol. I’m guessinnnggg it’s an aro/ace thing on my part? But now I’m sorta curious if non-aro/ace folks also experience ships through that lens of distance, and on the flipside if the ‘THAT’S MY SPOUSE’ mentality is born of an attraction for a character felt by a real person, or filtered through a self-insert OC, or if the two often co-exist, etc etc

This is all just convoluted idle musing on my part, I’m just like ‘oh, huh, I don’t really do that’. Certainly there are elements of myself in my OCs but when it comes to shipping it is literally never ME involved. I am but the humble player smushing some interesting barbie dolls together, peering down into their enclosure to see what they do, I am never PART of the dynamic. It’s just interesting!

I’ve been really thinking of reopening my art shop soon… I’ve been taking some practice doodles (hence all the posting lately) while I shake off my rust and I’m finding things I enjoy working on again.
