A Clover trait that I haven't seen anyone mention is that they actually have a good or nice singing voice according to Insomnitot. Adding to this, from the Lucky Patch teaser we could assume that they also know how to play the harmonica. What I'm saying is that Clover is, on some level, musically talented.

And if we take into consideration what Martlet says during one of her team talk dialogue about the boss themes (OSTs), music (at least in UTY canon) is a way for monsters to express themselves. It's a natural occurrence formed by the magic of the monster you are fighting. So therefore, music would be connected to identity and expressionism in the Underground.

So, do you think while traversing the Underground Clover would hum little songs to themselves? Do you think Clover would play the harmonica for Dalv which inspired him to create a new music piece? Do you think while in the saloon, Clover and Starlo would sing a duet together or play the harmonica for him? I mean it is implied that Starlo inherited his mother's voice and that Crestina is good at singing.

Do you think while traveling through Steamworks, they would tap on the metal to the rhythm of songs they like while Ceroba watches on? Do you think while traveling with Martlet they would sing a song with her as Martlet fumbles through the lyrics?

Do you think that in every timeline Clover plays something or sings something for Flowey, sometimes making fun of him but other times in a genuine way to express how much they are thankful for his company? Do you think that in every other universe, Flowey tries to play the harmonica with Clover teaching him and he's so bad at it that Clover makes fun of him? Do you think that as he resets more and more, going through timeline after timeline, he slowly gets better to the point he finally learns the song that Clover was teaching him?

Do you think that that timeline was the last time they will ever play the harmonica or sing for him and he didn't realize it? Do you think that long after Clover's sacrifice, he finds himself humming the song subconsciously only to forget the next part and look to the side to ask Clover only to remember that they're gone? Do you think he sometimes still hears them humming along?

I was not one to hold grudges, and back then I very much kept you out of my thoughts. But I am different, now. I am a much pettier man, and a part of me hopes the guilt eats away at you with an endless, ravenous hunger. I would never feel that way towards any current lives of yours, of course- because they aren't you. They evolved, learned from you. It is you I hope that hurts. I hope it was agonizing to watch me leave and become friends with my father, even if it was unknowingly. I hope that old cabin you secluded me in felt haunting. Cold. and Empty.

Finally someone talks about this! When I first played through UTY I abused the save option because I was an anxious mess who constantly forgot if they saved or not so I discovered this really early, as in the first save point early. The extra dialogues from Flowey were a surprise so whenever I came across a new save point, I would save at least 5 times to completely get all his dialogue. I think that was a key factor in why I hyperfixated on Lucky Patch so hard. Though it's a shame that most players end up not realizing that Flowey gives off extra dialogue when saving more than once.

Alright, enough rambling about my own experience, it's time to give my thoughts. Like what the tags above show, I also think that Flowey's willingness to just let Clover save as much as they want is a way to give reassurance. To whom you may ask? Well, either himself or to Clover. I'm leaning more towards Flowey as from my interpretation of Flowey, he's someone who projects himself, more specifically Asriel's traits, to others a lot. He projects these traits so hard that I don't think he even realizes it, he's so blinded that it skews his perspective of others negatively. I would like to point up again to the tags above as those spell out my thoughts rather clearly. Though I will add that maybe this need of reassurance from Flowey is amplified due to Clover paralleling a certain human he once knew.

On Clover's side, I also think it would be a way of reassuring themselves. On the less serious note, I also think it's just a way for them to annoy him. Or even a backup plan for when they are going to do something stupid that is likely to backfire, such as drinking acid. And most importantly, my Lucky Patch heart says that they save multiple times to spend time with Flowey, just to unwind from the chaos of their surroundings. He's the only constant after all, the only one who understands what they've gone through in a way none of the others would ever understand. So what if Clover's a little dependent on Flowey? He's their best friend! As well as their benefactor, it's only natural that they would want to spend time with him. The only dialogue I can remember immediately that supports this are the dialogues you get in the Wild East when you save multiple times before and after every Feisty Five section. And if I don't remember incorrectly, the save dialogue where Flowey matches Clover's aesthetic by wearing a cowboy hat himself.

so yeah replayed undertale yellow a bit and someone that really interests me in terms of clover and flowey's dynamic is how no matter how much you annoy flowey by making him save the game for you, he won't stop you. sure, he'll tell you you're wasting time, you're risking frostbite, that you need to get a move on, but not once does he actually stop you. you can confuse him by going back and saving your game somewhere else, but he'll still let you.

why was this something i felt a need to post about? how does this interest me? well i love it because of the general ambiguity of why he might be letting clover just keep saving their game whenever they ask. sure, it could just be so they become dependent on him to feel safe, but it really seems to genuinely annoy him most of the time with how he rushes you. i'd expect him to... stop saving my game to emphasize that he's not gonna just let you sit around and waste valuable time, but he just lets you. i'm probably overthinking it, who knows, maybe this is for the player's convenience. after all, it'd be really annoying gameplay wise if flowey just refused to save your game. but i like to think it's deeper than that. perhaps this could be flowey attempting to reassure them in his own weird flowey way. they shouldn't NEED NEED him to feel safe, so they oughta get a move on. stop risking frostbite and do something.

On some level, Clover was indeed affected by his confession of only using them to further his goals. I would say that the blast is a quick and direct way of killing and serving vengeance to their opponents as seen with Axis and Asgore. So why the gun? The easiest answer we can infer is that it hurts more. It's a slow and painful death in comparison to the blast which decimates everything in its path in seconds. Unlike monsterkind's "crimes" which only indirectly affects Clover, Flowey's crime is personal to them which leads Clover to be more harsher with their vengeance or "justice" as they like to call it.

one of my favorite details in the vengeance route is how axis gets the clover blast, martlet gets the clover blast, asgore gets the clover blast. but all flowey gets is the gun

Big fan of Lucky Patch where Clover chooses to stay in the Underground over and over again which leads to Flowey getting used to resetting over and over because of it and over the course of the multiple runs Flowey gets closer and more attached to Clover then realizes "oh. I want them to stay."

Because of the knowledge of previous runs, he grows complacent. When Clover reaches the True Pacifist ending, he's just so ready to live out their time together being best friends and in a cruel twist of fate, despite everything, despite what they've always done before, Clover doesn't stay.

The universe laughs at him, mocks him, shakes its head at him and says "no, no, you can't have them. You can never have them."

And he can't do anything about it.

I miss my Aunt Tabitha and yet at the same time I... I think I hate her for what she did. She took care of me, kept me alive and safe, so I almost feel guilty for it. But I think I do. Truly. I was not hers to take care of, I was not hers to keep alive and safe. That was my father's job. That was the task he wanted more than anything, and she took that opportunity away from him. Told me that he had died, and told him that I did not survive my birth. What a wicked, wicked woman.. my entire life- everything I was ever told, and believed- was a lie. These two idiots (affectionate) are my main blorbos I love sm ... Nere (apart from being my fursona) is the main character from my world, who basically went through many rough patches in his life until he finally moved out to a cabin in the forest to heal wounds from the past and learn to be independent. One day he finds a magical seed which he plants in a garden, and from there emerges Zeen, a shape-shifting creature who becomes Nere's roommate and best friend while she teaches him stuff about his world and gets him civilized (which he does in literally less than a week cuz. He's that magical) :)

Nere ages with me, while Zeen is technically ageless but he appears to be a young adult. Please don't be weird about the latter tho, he's too pure for this world
