“ i know you think you're pretty clever with this plan to drink me under the table, but there's two problems ... you're not, & you can't . ”

jayce rolls his eyes and looks to her, expression exasperated as he holds his ... what was it ? fourth drink ? he wasn't quite sure, but it was around there. “ HA HA, ” he replies, each fake laugh is given it's time to breathe before he brings his drink to his lips and takes another drink. this time he d r a i n s it and sets it on the table. “ you do realize i have a LOT of weight on you, right ? believe it or not, i can hold my liquor, ” he adds, picking up the bottle the'd been using, only to realize it was e m p t y . he lifts it up to the light to look through the glass just to be sure there wasn't any left before he sighs.

“ i got next, ” jayce exhales with his sigh, shifting to the edge of the couch before standing up. right hand s n a p p i n g quickly towards the arm of the couch for support as he attempted to apply too much pressure too quickly on his bad leg. that was stupid. but he ignores it, hoping cait hadn't noticed before heading over to the bar cart off to the side of the room. setting down the empty bottle on the nearby table he f i d d l e s through the unopened bottles before grabbing one and walking back towards the couch.

he sets the bottle down on the coffee table and then pauses looking at the couch. looking back to caitlyn he asks, “ if i sit on the floor will you help me up? ” but before waiting for an answer, he's already grabbing a pillow off the couch and dropping it on the floor. with careful movements he brings himself to the floor as well, letting his good leg bend and fall flat to the ground while he puts his braced leg atop the pillow. he adjusts it for a moment before visibly relaxing at the more comfortable position. he then reaches for the fresh bottle and busies himself with pouring himself another drink.
