Waddup ✌🏽
hi, my name is Yve (Or you can call me Yvette, whichever is fine). I’m an art student in California, I like reading books and watching things in any genre (I lean towards fantasy and sci-fi), I’m really just a sucker for a good story.
Basically, tumblr is the site I go to whenever I get really obsessed with a book, movie, TV show, or whatever. So, technically this is a multifandom blog but it goes through its phases. I have begun to post more regularly, and not all of it has to do with fandom, so this is becoming a litte bit of a personal blog too.
main fandoms: lockwood & co., percy jackson & the olympians/heroes of olympus, the dragon prince, how to train your dragon, ummm idk i consume a lot of media.
Interested in getting Lockwood & Co. renewed? So am I! Sign the petition, email your favorite streaming service, make a meme, all that jazz.
My feed is a little convoluted, so I have tags for the important stuff I guess?
My art: #yveni art
Sometimes my art is good, but most of what I’ve posted on here is meme-y fanart (that’s good too).
My writing: #yveni writes
All that’s on there is fanfic right now. It’s all Lockwood and Co.
I am actually writing a book/book series. I might post something about it, we’ll see.
My rambles: #yve has something to say
I like to discuss. I tend to ramble and reiterate/reword points I already made. If I feel like something is becoming essay length, I’ll stick it in this tag.
There will be more to come on this, as I have a lot of opinions on things. I grew up as a Pastor’s Kid™, so some, if not most, of it will be on religion and my experience with it. It’s been a good experience, which I know, unfortunately, is not the same for everyone.
That being said, I have another, secret tag that is me rambling, but specifically for fandom: #yve thinks she’s an analyst
-
Everyone, and I mean everyone, is welcome here, I’m always up to make new friends. Feel free to chat with me about anything.
Thanks for stopping by, I love you. More importantly, Jesus loves you. 💚

Fanfic writer 20 questions, thanks @modulatechaos for tagging me :3
1. How many fics do you have on ao3
62!
2. What’s your ao3 word count?
531,384 🤯
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I used to write for Fire Emblem Three Houses, and I currently write for Genshin Impact, some Jujutsu Kaisen for a rare pair, tentatively returning to Control when the plot bunnies return, and wanting to do more for Path to Nowhere
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Triple Lutz
Resonance is Far Away
Oh my god they were batterymates
Sakura Sake
Notes in Memory
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Absolutely! As soon as I can I reply and I keep the email with the comment for days at a time. Knowing that my work is being enjoyed and someone took the time to tell me keeps me going
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I’m not much of an angst writer, but I think the closest I’ve come is maybe The Saddest Part: Never Mine, and maaaaaybe Take the Throne? The latter certainly didn’t end conventionally happy at least
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Basically all of them really 😂but the ones that stuck with me are the edeleths and Timeless Pool of Light
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No not at all
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I did mostly for FE3H and Control; only f/f and kept pretty vanilla in terms of kink and by the time I wrote for Genshin I evolved into what I call philosophical foreplay” more dialogue and introspection of the characters rather than simply the act itself
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what kind?
I do a lot of aus but not definitive crossovers; I keep my fandoms pretty separated
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I definitely hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Oh yeah one in Japanese and Chinese, and another one I think got translated into German
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yup! With none other than the great and powerful @modulatechaos themself! As soon I went into the Control fandom we both took off on some works and we’re struggling on a genshin fic rn but we’ll figure it out 😅
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Edeleth will forever and always have a special place in my heart
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but probably never will?
I feel like I have an answer, but if I shared it it would feel like I’ve given up on it, and like I’m speaking prematurely on my future-self’s behalf. I have too many wips, but enough hope of finishing them one day to outnumber them
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue I hope! And from the dialogue I find engagement in character study/introspection
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
It’s perhaps more of a self consciousness than a weakness, but I’m always worried about my pacing and story structuring when it comes to my multichaps
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I value extensive research on any topics that might not be something overtly familiar and language is a big part of that. Depending on how prominent it is, I find that simply having the implication of a spoken language is sometimes better than trying and botching a full translation
19. First fandom you ever wrote for?
FE3H easily, but if we’re talking deep cuts and technical, I wrote a thing for Code Lyoko in high school but that’s a memory just for me :3
20. Favorite fic ever written?
Triple Lutz because it was my first; the Jean/Signora series because I had taken the risk; Timeless Pool of Light because I had persevered to finish it; and When the Air Rains Messages because I think that encompassed my love for a character better than anything else I’ve written this far

Eight Months
Steve Harrington x Fem!Reader
Masterlist
Summary: Y/n went missing at the end of spring. A note was left explaining that after her father, Bob Newby, died, she just couldn’t bear to stay in Hawkins. The others were shocked but after gaining no leads on where she could be, they had to accept that she was gone. But when summer rolls in and Hawkins starts getting scary, Steve and Dustin find themselves venturing into a Russian base and uncover more secrets than they bargained for.
Word Count: 2.5k
Warnings: swearing, [flashbacks], kidnapping, witnessing murder, mentions of death, mentions of torture, mentions of bruises/blood, fluff and kind of angst?
[A/N: Another random thought at like 2am bc I have insomnia so enjoy. I also really enjoy writing season three fanfics.]
Eight Months [Masterlist]
Eight Months: A Surprise Reunion
[Part One]
The letter you had left in Mike Wheeler’s basement explained it all. They wouldn’t find it until after their festivities.
Your father, Bob Newby, had risked his life to save others. In your mind, and others, he was a hero.
When your mother left you both to fend for yourselves, Bob didn’t shy away from his fatherly duties. In fact, he rose to the occasion. Money was tight but he still made sure you grew up the best you could without a mother. And you soon came to realise you didn’t need one. Because he was all you needed.
When you were 17, your father had fallen in love. Joyce Byers captured his heart and you understood why; she was perfect for him. She welcomed you into her family, as did her sons, and despite the drastic change, you grew to love them all.
But, one fateful evening changed all of that. It had been innocent at first, your best friend Steve Harrington asking you to aid him in winning Nancy Wheeler back. Your heart broke at the request from years and years of hiding your feelings for him, but Nancy made him happy. And you wanted him to be happy.
Once Dustin had found you both and asked for your help, things only got worse. You were dragged into the world beneath Hawkins, learning things that should only be seen in your nightmares.
It led to your father losing his life after saving his family.
Joyce did her best, taking care of you like you were her own. But the thought of living in a town without your father was too much pain to bear. And the decision was made.
You were to move away from Hawkins and leave your goodbyes in a heartfelt letter addressed to the people you loved.
***
“Hey, assholes! Let us out!” Robin yelled, continuously thumping on the door as Steve paced the room wondering how the hell they were going to get out of here.
It all started with a secret Russian message. Translation, Dustin had said at the time. Steve should have listened to his instinct when it told him ‘translation’ would be more than he agreed to.
Now, he and his co worker Robin were trapped in a Russian base with no hope of escaping and the fear of torture on their minds.
Well, he was afraid at least. Robin, on the other hand, gave up on fear half an hour into the wait and was now trying every annoying tactic to get it over and done with.
“Cowards!” She called out when she had no response again, slumping against the wall beside her.
“Do you have to do that?” Steve asked, hands on hips, “You’re basically inviting them to torture us.”
“They don't have to take so long.” Robin said, quieter than she should have and Steve realised that the wait itself was torture for her.
“We’ll find a way out.” Steve said, nodding with such determination, Robin almost believed him.
But she knew better than to hope for miracles.
She pushed away from the wall, crossing the room and heading straight to the metal shelves at the back.
“What are you doing?” Steve followed her, frowning.
“This whole time we’ve been waiting, we could have actually seen if there was another door in this place.”
Steve stopped, pursing his lips. Robin noticed his sudden lack of movement, turning to meet her co worker’s face showing all kinds of disbelief.
“I’m not an expert on secret Russian bases but I know enough to assume that they wouldn’t lock prisoners in a room with an exit.” He stressed, pointing back the way they had walked.
Robin sighed, moving her head slightly to the right before her eyes caught something and she felt a smirk playing on her lips.
“Hm, yeah. You’re probably right.” She shrugged, looking directly to her right. “Oh, and what, pray tell, is that?”
She held her hand out and Steve craned his neck around the corner to see… another door. His breath hitched.
“Pure luck.” He grumbled as Robin let out a happy laugh, practically bouncing over to the door.
“So, dingus, it seems you know absolutely nothing about secret Russian-”
Robin’s victory was cut short when she swung open the door.
Steve frowned at her, shaking his head. “What?”
“Uh…” She stumbled over words, staring into the dark room with wide eyes.
“Let me guess, it’s a dead end?” Steve threw his hands up in exasperation, already stalking away from her. “See, I knew it. The Russians can’t be that stupid if they had a whole ass fancy elevator system and liquid that melts metal-”
“Steve.” Robin tried, her voice quiet.
“-and the fact that we needed to use vents to get in here instead of an actual door just proves-”
“Steve!” She yelled this time, raising her hand to a surrender.
“What?!” Steve turned, running a hand through his hair, frustrated.
“You should probably come see this.”
Robin said just as soon as he turned the corner again, a frown appearing on his face when he watched her disappear into the other room, enveloped by the shadows.
“Robin?” He called out in a whisper, poking his head around the door.
He squinted into the darkness before making out a shape further in, realising that Robin was crouched down on the floor. As his eyes adjusted to the lack of light, his heart raced.
She wasn’t alone.
Robin was knelt next to someone else, their body sat on the floor in the corner with their back against the wall, looking extremely scared of the girl in front of them.
“Hey.” Robin said soothingly, both hands held out, “We’re not here to hurt you.”
Steve took a few timid steps into the room, getting closer. His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to make out features on their face, eyes immediately drawn to the pair of red sneakers. He knew someone with red sneakers.
“Who are you?”
And he most definitely knew that voice.
Steve froze, all kinds of emotions bubbling inside as he reached Robin, looking over her shoulder and confirming his suspicions with a racing heart.
“Y/n?”
You whip your head up, meeting his eyes. As soon as recognition dawned on you, you sprung to your feet, shaking your head.
“Steve?” You cry and suddenly he’s pulling you into his arms, catching you in a tight hug. “What- what the hell are you doing here?”
“Me?” Steve let out a breathy laugh, releasing you and stepping back, “What about-”
All his words faded when he finally saw you within breathing distance, his breath caught in his throat.
The first thing he noticed was the healing scar; etched into your eyebrow and reaching half way up your forehead, burning red in the harsh light. Then, the various cuts on your cheek, your lip. The way your hair was tangled, some stray hairs clinging to your face. Bruises scattered across your jaw in a variety of colour, all presenting themselves as different ages. Finally, your teary eyes, the look of fear lingering as you stare back at him.
He stepped forward, cupping your cheek in his palm. The way you flinched slightly before softening under his touch didn’t go unnoticed to him.
“Y/n.” Steve’s head slowly shook side to side, eyes never leaving yours. “What happened?”
Driving away was meant to be the easy part. But that came to an untimely stop when your car broke down just outside the new building for the Starcourt Mall.
Hawkins had been working on building the mall for months, making sure it was ready to open for the summer. It was almost done but still not open to the public yet. You figured they wanted it to be perfect. It should be, considering the amount of money spent.
Stepping out of your car with a groan, you assess the damage. You hiss as smoke pours from your engine, fanning away the dirty air.
“Shit.” You mutter, glancing around you for some kind of miracle.
The drilling and digging noises from the construction site up ahead was clouding your senses to the point that if it hadn’t been for pure luck, you would have missed the figure turning a corner behind the white wall up ahead. You call out after them for help, only to be drowned out by the sounds around you. With a sigh, you slammed your hood shut and started to follow them.
The luck wasn’t as pure as you thought it would be.
Turning the corner, your eyes focus in on the man up ahead, a green uniform clinging to his body as he raised his arm. You frown, moving closer before you notice another figure on the floor, pleading.
Your heart almost stopped when you saw the gun pointing down at him.
The shot ripped through the air, the construction site proving a good distraction as you watched the pleading figure drop limply to the floor.
You couldn’t help the scream that escaped your lips.
The uniformed man caught your gaze and before you knew it, you were ambushed. Officers all around you spoke in a foreign language, raising their guns to you and you had no choice but to surrender, dropping to your knees before they dragged you away from the site and into a loading bay building.
The next few days were a blur, constant interrogation from a man you assumed was in charge.
“Who do you work for?”
That was all you were asked, the truth only earning punishments in the form of torture from men much bigger and much stronger than you. You didn’t know when they finally started believing you but soon, you were relieved from the pain and thrown into a room, only occasionally brought out when they needed information from you; the long nights of torture only led to you discussing the Upside Down, something they were very intrigued to know.
You didn’t understand why until it was too late.
They couldn’t let you go, not with the risk of you telling everyone what you had witnessed. In fact, they offered you a job so you didn’t prove as much as a burden. They weren’t too pleased when you spat the offer back in their faces, refusing to work for men trying to open another gate.
So, other than the occasional painful chit-chat about what lurks beneath Hawkins, you were confined to a dark room for what seemed like eternity.
Until one day, Steve showed up.
When you told him about what they did to you, Steve’s stomach dropped.
The day you left, he had seen you driving away in your car while he was in his own. Something in him wanted to follow you, to make sure you were okay. But, instead, he went home with the assumption that he'd just ask you about it the next day.
Finding the letter broke his heart, a pain bubbling inside when he realises he made a mistake.
And now, guilt. He could have saved you.
Regardless of when it happened, which he still struggled to figure out. After all, you can't have been down here too long, right?
“What the hell are you doing here?” You shook your head, searching Steve’s face with such intensity he was sure you were checking he wasn’t a figment of your imagination.
“It’s a long story.” Steve sighs, hands still holding your face.
“Um, hi.” The girl behind you spoke, giving a small wave, “I’m Robin.”
“Hi.” You reply with a small smile. “I’m-”
“Y/n.” She grinned, nodding, “Yeah. I know.”
Steve widened his eyes as a warning and Robin simply mocked zipping her lips shut. Let’s just say, Steve hadn’t been shy about telling his new found friend all about you. Just for her to continuously tell him that the reason he had such a problem with getting girls was because he never truly got over you.
“We cracked a secret Russian code and basically fell into this place.” Robin stated, “Like, literally. The elevator ride bruised me.”
“You came into the base?” You shake your head in confusion, “Why the hell would you-”
Your face drops into a smile and Steve’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Dustin?” You simply ask and Steve nods his head.
“As much as I love this reunion,” Robin interrupted, stepping forward, “we’re still stuck inside a scary building with no way out.”
“There is a way out.” You say quietly, stepping out of Steve’s gentle hold and hugging your torso. He frowns at your action, watching how you avoid his eyes.
“Really?” Robin’s face lit up, bounding over to you, “How?”
“You just need a keycard.” You say and her face falls. You notice, leaning back against the wall. “You guys did have a keycard when you broke in here, right?”
The silence was your answer and you sighed, rubbing your forehead.
“Okay,” You continue, starting to pace the room. “there’s always Plan B.”
“Plan B?” Steve raised his eyebrow and you shifted, taking a breath.
“Distraction.”
“Distraction?” Robin took her turn to query as Steve stood there, realisation already dawning on him.
“No, absolutely not.” He shakes his head profusely, stepping towards you.
“We can’t all leave.” You raise your chin slightly, showcasing your stubbornness. “The best I can do is get the both of you…”
As you look between them, you look taken-aback and Steve begins to internally panic. What were you thinking? Did you think something was going on between them?
“… what the hell are you wearing?”
“Oh.” Robin looked down, smirking, “We’re not actual sailors. We work at Scoops.”
“Scoops?” You raise an eyebrow.
“Yeah, the ice-cream place.” Robin nods, frowning when you still don’t understand “At the mall?”
You shake your head, “It opened?”
“Like, ages ago.” She laughed awkwardly, sharing a look with Steve. “Wait. How long have you been down here?”
“I don’t know.” You admit, shrugging. “You don’t really get much sunlight underground, you know?”
"When did you get back to Hawkins?" Steve questions, obviously oblivious to the situation.
"Get back?" You shake your head and he sighs, heart beating faster.
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Steve frowns, and you whip your head up, twisting your face as you tried to recollect.
“Uh… it was…” You slowly start nodding, “The party thing? Or dance, I don’t know.”
Steve shrugged when Robin looked at him.
“Oh!” You suddenly say, remembering. “I was leaving a letter in the basement because I knew no one would be there. The kids were going to the Snow Ball at the middle school.”
“As in… winter-time?” Robin’s voice raises in pitch and you nod.
“Yeah?”
“Y/n…” Steve catches your eyes and your face falls as you see the concern spread across it. “That was eight months ago.”
“Eight-” You take a breath, shaking your head. “No, no. I- I can’t have been here for eight months. It’s not-”
Your hand flies to cover your mouth as you realise. Time really had slipped away.
“I’m so-” Steve runs to comfort you when a loud sound rings out from the front of the room, his eyes widening as Russian is yelled and echoed from the walls.
“What do they want?” Robin whispers, her hands shaking slightly.
“They said they want to speak to the boy.” You translate, slowly looking to Steve. Eight months is all it took for you to start understanding Russian.
“Stay here.” Steve says, ignoring your protests as he steps out into the open.
You and Robin try to run after him, watching in horror as he’s dragged away.
You knew all too well what room he was going to end up in.

Hey sis ❤️
I think I remember someone asking you for some advice on world building for your stories a while ago. I have this huge southern gothic idea I want to put together and explore but to nail down the moving parts is just…..a hot ass mess rn. Whenever you can, I appreciate you greatly
How exciting! I am always here for other Black women writing Black southern gothic tales.
Worldbuilding is a big endeavor.
I’ll give you my basic toolkit when I get started with a work (even my fanfics), then I’ll post links to wordbuilding sites that have very thorough questions you can answer to help flesh out macro/micro worldbuilding details, as well as a book or too for resources.
Everything you research or answer questions to becomes part of your Book Bible, which becomes your reference guide as you work on the big project.
I will start by saying this. In my other world of writing SF/F, I'm in the middle of writing a Black southern gothic with a lot of moving parts myself, so one of the first things I did was flesh out my protagonist first. Then I did the same with the other people in my story. What do they all want? Who is stopping them from getting it? What do they hope to achieve by getting that thing they want? What happens if they don't get it? Your character is a world unto themselves, and once you nail them down or at least have a feel for who they are in broad sketch strokes to start, then this will help lay a strong foundation for how you will have them move in the world setting that you place them in. Your protag/antag can reveal the world they are in by their actions and dialogue. They can give hints about the world and set the tone for it too, through conversations.
What are the customs of your world? Holidays? Celebrations? Education? Relationships? Are there people who don’t celebrate or participate in society? (Why not?)
What types of religions are there? How are people treated if they don’t believe in God or organized religion (or whatever belief system you have created)
What is your magic system? Is there Hard Magic (ie. Well-defined, everyone knows the costs of it and the limitations) or Soft Magic (We don’t know the rules, or we’ll find out along with the protagonist)
What are the laws in your world? The governing body? Is it a monarchy? Oligarchy? Ruled by witches and vampires? Humans? Can humans and the supernatural co-exist? Mingle? Even in small towns, villages, or hoods around the way, there are governing bodies, government officials repping the law, or some smart-mouth magician with smooth straight backs at the barbershop who keeps folks in check.
What is the geography? What does this place look like? We should be able to envision it, smell it, want to hang out there, or be very afraid of it through the physicality of it and how it makes us feel being immersed there. Geography is character too and it has a great affect on the people who move around there. People who have to face snowstorms and extreme seasonal weather back east act different from people like me who live in Southern California’s laid back weather and attitude. There is physical geography and cultural geography too. Make note of that. Black southern folks are different from White southern folks even if they live in the same town. Black folks from Chicago are hella different from Black folks in New Orleans or the Geechee Sea Islands. There is diversity within the same cultures. Writers always forget that. All vampires ain’t the same, just like all Fairies and supernatural beings sharing the same world are not the same. Trust, Black vampires and Black shapeshifters don’t let everyone come to the cookout or bring the blood.
What are the jobs in the society and how are they ascribed value throughout the populace? (classes, race, racism, racial hierarchy, exploitation of classes, appropriation, and acculturation). Octavia E. Butler said humans (an even non-humans) always create a hierarchy. Speaking of which, what are the hierarchy of needs in this world? How are they doing? Are they facing extinction? War? Civil unrest? Are there enemies to be on the lookout for? Who they beefin’ with? How they mama and ‘nem doing?
What is their origin story of that place and their history? What is their cosmology? (How do they think their world and the universe was created?)
Just like there are character arcs (A character can change at the end of a story, or they can be the same but the people around them change), the world you build can also go through a world arc. In other words, will the changes that happen to your lead characters change the culture of their world?
Where are we in regards to the time period? Past, present, or future? Near Future?
What’s the technology like? Are they using futuristic gadgets, computers, guns, advanced medicine, etc? Are they a mix of old tech and new?
Remember, once you build your book bible (or even a short story bible, novella, novelette), you’re only going to use 10-15% of what you come up with. Worldbuilding done well will give us the flavor of your world without infodumping everywhere and bogging the narrative down with unnecessary minutiae. Too much seasoning ruins food, just like too little seasoning ruins food. Finding the right balance takes re-writing and good beta readers.

what are your favorite and least favorite ships?
I might ruffle some feathers, sorry:
Favorite Ships:
1. Jacsee - I think I've stated why so many times so I won't even bother explaining again, or else we'll be here for hours.
2. MacSanders - They're super underrated. There's no way that they WEREN'T together during RR. Their chemistry in the show seems a lot more than just friends. The way MacArthur was like, "I play nice with you allll the time" like c'mon lol they're dating. Honestly I wish there was more content of them. You can never get enough MacSanders content.
3. Nowen - When I joined the fandom I saw them as a BROtp (I used to like Noco) but then my love for Nowen grew along with my love for the fandom, it's very contagious :) I think they had wonderful chemistry and @realitytvpros has FANTASTIC artwork of them (that's another thing, the fan art for Nowen is wonderful)
4. Crimsonennui - the best canon ship of the show, hands down (I think Jashawn and Lyler are probably the next best ships) even though they are very monotonous, you can obviously tell they love and care very deeply with each other; they don't need to show this with exaggerated PDA (like some couples) and having some dramatic spur-of-the-moment kiss - it is very obvious that they're in love.
5. Alenoah - This is Larson's fault lmao. Honestly, Alenoah (the ship) has been growing on me a lot. Something that really makes me ship characters is fan-art, but especially fanfics. I'm a bookworm, so if I see someone write a story in which they bring two characters together and show them having awesome chemistry, it's very contagious and I'll start liking it, which is exactly what happened with Alenoah. Good writing really helped me enjoy the ship (check out @alenoah's fic Pretty Poisonous, you'll see what I mean)
Least Favorite Ships:
1. Gw//ody - I’m sorry, but this makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I don’t want to be mean, but this is based on personal things I’d rather not get into.
2. Co//derra - Same thing as Gw//ody, though I do like platonic Co//derra after canon (see @td-worrisometruths for their stuff, it’s great!)
3. No//co - Surprising, isn’t it? I’ve come to the realization that most ships involving Cody aren’t very good. I used to like Cody, but then my love for him sort of diminished over time. Cody just isn’t that appealing to me. Also, there was this whole drama about one of the No//co artists drawing very... fetish-y art even though they’re 16. Also, I never realized when I first joined how bait-y the Big Sleep episode was. Then I came to the realization that Noah would probably make Cody cry.
4. Tom//ques - Tom//ques is basically No//co, but Tom and Jacques are adults so people think it’s okay to fetishize mlm and write gay smut of them. Say what you want about No//co, but there had been some fics in which it was centered around building a relationship. I cannot say the same for Tom//ques. Literally the only Tom//ques fics I’ve seen were smut. Shipping the two most effeminate men on the show isn’t the progressive take you think it is. This is going to sound awful, but I can’t bring myself to like Tom//ques because some Tom//ques shippers went after me because I shipped Jacsee, calling me immoral for it, and claimed that Tom//ques was “supposed to be canon” so I’m erasing mlm. Besides, the superior mlm ship for Jacques is him and Ryan :) But I love a Tom//ques friendship. I’ve said this so many times, but platonic Tom//ques is awesome.
5. Sc//ax - I mean, it’s mostly because I see Scarlett as a lesbian (and I ship her with OC named Devin!), but even if I didn’t I just don’t understand the appeal. Someone compared them to Drakken and Shego from Kim Possible, which I get, but like... no lol (Even though I do ship Drakgo) Scarlett legitimately cannot stand Max, and Max says that “evil doesn’t date” so I don’t really see them as a couple, sorry.

Creator Spotlight: Week 8
Welcome back to the TWW Author Spotlight! For every spotlight, we’ll ask each featured author the same ten questions (as well as questions you submitted on Twitter!). This week, we’re excited to be chatting with mlea7675 on Twitter and AO3!
1) What are your top 5 desert island fics by other authors?
Donna Moss’s Orphan Collective by thatTWWgirl https://archiveofourown.org/works/34705486 This is probably my favorite found family AU. It’s got a really fresh take on J/D’s family, and really brings home the found family concept. Basically, J/D got pregnant before the Inauguration, had a shotgun wedding that night, and Donna decides to start having everyone over for dinner. And if you ever want to check out the other fics in this universe (as well as fics by this author in general), go for it!
Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven by @JessBakesCakes https://archiveofourown.org/works/39284985 This was the best Rosslyn anniversary fic I’ve ever read. I love any new baby fic (their youngest is born on the anniversary), and tying it with the Rosslyn angst was perfection. It’s also hilarious when you least expect it, and ties it all together in a really sweet ending. I will read it again and again!
hey, honey, you can be my new drug (you can be my new prescription) by scarmophogophs https://archiveofourown.org/works/35990224 This is my favorite hurt/comfort fic, and I’ve read a million of them! The Donna/Helen friend/boss energy (I cannot say enough good things about their dynamic) is a brilliant bonus, and I love the sweetness of the final scene!
One Good Reason by kcat1971 https://archiveofourown.org/works/13695738 I almost picked another expectant parent J/D fic, but this is definitely the crown jewel of the genre (so far!). It takes you on an odyssey from the moment they find out to the day they hold their little girl in their arms. It’s part of a series spanning about 30 stories that begin with J/D eloping to Hawaii, but it’s also good as a stand-alone. It was the first full universe for J/D I ever read, and I fell completely in love with it. And as an added bonus, Sam and Ainsley get married! There’s something for nearly every pairing.
Expecting Felicity by spybaby47 https://archiveofourown.org/works/29083599/chapters/71391675 This is the only non-J/D fic on my list, but it well earns its place. I have come to know this author as a beta reader, WW contemporary, and as a co-writer, and there is no better Jed/Abbey surprise baby AU than Felicity Bartlet. If you’re a fan of expectant parent fics, and of Jed and Abbey, then there is no better fic than this one.
2) Do you have a favorite character to write? Favorite ship(s) to write? Are there characters or ships you'd like to write more of?
My absolute favorite character to write is Donna. I have so many headcanons for her (particularly that reach high and line up with my own life), it’s hard to believe. Same with my favorite ships: J/D and their family, obviously, then Sam/Ainsley, and Jed/Abbey. I’d actually really like to write more Jed/Abbey, and Matt/Helen Santos. They are unexplored territory as far as the series and fanfics go.
3) Tell us about your writing process (setup/location? Night or day? Snacks/beverages? Computer/phone/notebook? Music or silence? Anything else you want to share is welcome!)
I usually write at my desk in my room (I do my best work when I’m sitting up and alert). In the past, I’ve started in the evenings, then work throughout the next day until it’s done, but lately I’ve gradually started early the next day and work throughout the day (again, until it’s done). I write on my laptop because it’s easier to catch mistakes that way. Sometimes I’ll listen to music if it helps me get in a zone, but sometimes writing’s all I need.
4) What writing advice do you have for others who may be reading this?
Don’t get too beat up when you make continuity mistakes. I’ve had to tell myself that quite a few times.
5) From where do you usually draw your inspiration? (Other forms of media, music, tropes, etc?)
My AU ideas mostly come from movies and other TV shows. My headcanons often comes from my favorite things, things that happen to me, or ideas that’ll just pop into my head. Sometimes I’ll also listen to a song and have an idea for my canon. That happened to me last year, when I first heard Martina McBride’s tribute song to women battling breast cancer, and it turned into my fic, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It”.
6) What is the fic you've written that you're most proud of and why?
https://archiveofourown.org/works/36336937
This is a tough one! I’d have to say the story I’m most proud of is my Sam/Ainsley fic “The Journey”. Along with the previous fic I just mentioned, this was one where I was worried about touching some raw nerves. But all my research paid off, and I got nothing but positive praise for how I handled the subject matter.
7) What's the fic trope/concept/AU you'd read 1000 of? What's the fic trope/concept/AU you'd write 1000 of?
The fic trope I would read a thousand of are expectant parent/birth fics-any couple. I’ve always loved watching labor and birth scenes/stories, so any opportunity I can get to write a pregnancy/labor/birth story, I’m taking it!
And as far as writing, I would write both that and wedding fics. I love doing the research for weddings, particularly those that take place in another time period.
8) Is there anything you'd like to try writing-wise that you haven't yet?
I would love to write more pre-canon. I think it is such rich territory, and also an opportunity to show how our characters may have met up before canon. And also, I would love to develop my post-canon world even more, way post-series to see where our characters and their families ended up.
9) What's your go-to Starbucks/coffee shop/other drink order?
I’m not much of a coffee/tea/caffeine drinker, so my favorite drink order is probably hot chocolate or lemonade.
10) Do you have any current projects you'd like to promote or anything upcoming you'd like to tell us about?
I have a Big Block of Cheese Day Halloween fic in my plans, and of course my trope fest fics! I would also like to announce a reboot of my co-written series with Jed/Abbey writer spybaby47. That should be up in the next couple of months, as well as an AU I'm currently writing with them.
Submitted questions:
(Some questions may be edited to avoid repetition)
From @Audedeu: What's the story you had the most fun writing / to write? And which one was the most "sad", like you were crying when you were typing, lol ?
I think my favorite story to write was my Gilmore Girls-style small-town AU, “It Takes A Village” (https://archiveofourown.org/works/28346970) And the fic I had the hardest time writing, the one that was the most “sad”, was my J/D anniversary fic, “Then, Now, and Forever”, particularly the last vignette I wrote (https://archiveofourown.org/works/31939990)
From @S4MWILSON: funniest fic you’ve ever read? saddest? most thought provoking? fave rarepair ship, underrated ep, side character? #1 song for ur ship? wildest au you’ve ever thought of? ship you’ve never written for but would love to? tww crossover w what show?
Funniest fic I’ve ever read: Conspiracy by @hufflepuffhermione https://archiveofourown.org/works/31211078
Saddest fic I’ve ever read: Broken Glass by sekinsey68 https://archiveofourown.org/works/15106631
Most thought-provoking: I fall apart (and I thought I was so smart) by @rosieposiepie https://archiveofourown.org/works/30626918
Underrated episode: The White House Pro-Am
Underrated side character: Carol
#1 J/D song: “When You Say Nothing At All” by Keith Whitley
Wildest AU: Sam/Josh AU where Donna’s their surrogate. https://archiveofourown.org/works/27547978
Ship I’ve never written for but would love to: I’d love to write for Charlie/Zoey.
TWW Crossover: ER, Gilmore Girls, basically any 2000s show
From @flowersinapril_: are there any other movies that you would use as the basis for an AU?
Also fave shows that aren’t TWW?
Good questions! 1) On the romcom side, I’m thinking Mamma Mia (just because I’d love to see Josh, Cliff, Jack, and/or Colin in a lineup), and on the drama side, maybe Titanic or Parenthood (movie or TV)
2) My favorite shows besides TWW are Gilmore Girls, ER, The Brady Bunch, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show
From @JessBakesCakes: I’m curious how you balance the existing characters and canon universes for your AUs with the characters from TWW you introduce. How do you decide what to change and what to keep from each world?
Awesome question! It changes from one AU to the next-some are much more fleshed out than others. A lot of times when my AU is based on a specific movie, I tend to stick very close to the source material. In stories like my “When Harry Met Sally” AU, everything fits perfectly! If it’s a fusion fic like “It Takes A Village” or “How to Save A Life”, then I decide based on what I think would be best for the story. And sometimes the story takes on a life of its own. For example, I wanted “How To Save a Life” to be more “Grey’s Anatomy”, but it ended up being more “ER”. Hope this answers your question!
Thanks again, Molly!

Fanfic Year In Review
Tagged by the ever-wonderful @glaciya! Thank you darling!!
How many works do you have on ao3?
43 - 14 this year!
What’s your total ao3 word count?
239,139 - 126,535 this year!
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Uh, 1 lol. Basically just Batfam (Batman - All Media Types) with a handful of sub fandoms within haha
Are there any new fandoms you want to write for?
I may or may not have 20k of a Shadow and Bone remake languishing in my WIP folder... Maybe.... We’ll have to see if it ever comes to light! XD
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Operation Tim
Operation Tia
Day By Day
Redfish
The Feeling of Safety
Which of your fics do you want more attention for?
None! I’m honestly constantly blown away by the attention I’ve already gotten!
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Always! Have yet to have any haters (I’m sure they’re coming, and I’ve already started drafting ways to leave a snarky reply before freezing the thread lol) but I really love chatting with people and appreciate them putting in the extra effort, even if it’s just a keyboard smash or a string of emojis!
What sorts of things do you normally write?
Angst, fluff, and lots and lots of AUs!! I look fondly at canon, pick up my favorite characters to hug close, and toss the rest out the window. It’s very freeing lol
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Mmm, probably Shadow of Death? I am particularly fond of happy endings, so this one is more of an open ending than anything else, but it definitely leaves people hanging a little ;)
What’s a fic that pushed you out of your comfort zone?
A Series of Moments was probably the closest I’ve ever come to truly writing dark fic, and it definitely made me stretch my muse, even knowing the happy ending had already been written. I think it turned out very well though!
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not... really? The only one I have posted on AO3 is my Batman/Big Hero 6 fusion that really only involved Baymax (Human Pinatas and Robot Doctors) but I have a fairly extensive DC/Star Wars crossover that I worked on quite a bit in my youth! Never finished it, and it’s horribly self-indulgent, but it was fun at the time and was technically my first fanfic!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Just this year, in fact. It was such a huge compliment to be asked!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! Secret Caverns: Raider of the Lost Ark was my very first dip in the pool of round robin-ing through Discord, and Inky made it so much fun! And the afore mentioned Shadow of Death was written with @luthienluinwe and had some truly fantastic imagery! Currently, I’m working on what has turned into a massive story with @workingchemistry and it’s been SO fun! It’s solidly over 100k now, but we probably need a beginning before we can start posting... And some editing. So. Much. Editing. 😂
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Well, I’m definitely not ever finishing that DC/Star Wars AU lol, but I hold out hope that some of my others (JayTim Vikings, Serial Killer!Tim, etc) will eventually get finished. It’s mostly a matter of limited Time and Energy haha
What are you currently working on?
The Playmating AU with Chem, the last few chapters of How to Start Living, the sequel to Honest Men, Secret Project That I Shall Not Name, and Oy! What a Knight. I’ve also still got some prompts that I’m working on, but they’ve been chilling on the back burner until I can get some of my other projects wrapped up!
What are your writing strengths?
~Worldbuilding~ (to the surprise of no one lol)
What are your writing weaknesses?
Editing 100%, but I’ve been blessed with some amazing betas haha
What was the first fandom you wrote for? Most recent?
Young Justice (that crossover I mentioned) was my first, now it’s a general mishmash of Batfam shipping, but primarily JayTim and JayDick!
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Lord, asking the hard questions, aren’t ya? Hmm.... It’s really got to be Honest Men. That fic (which is now actually a trilogy with three separate arcs, only the first of which is totally done) is one that I started before I posted anything else, and there’s so many layers to it that I’m really excited to see people’s reactions once things start to unravel. I even have a motif worked into it!
What fic are you most proud of?
All of them!
I’ll try not to double tag, but I apologize in advance cuz I know this has been going around! @workingchemistry (who already beat me to it lol), @elareine, @generatorcat , and anyone else who wants to join in the fun!!

Chapter One- “Nightmare”
“Someone like me can be a real nightmare, completely aware” -Halsey
Word Count: 1.6k
Warnings: (Suprisingly) none!
Characters Mentioned: Neutral!Reader, Erin Strauss, Aaron Hotchner, Penelope Garcia, Spencer Reid, Derek Morgan & David Rossi (briefly mentioned)
A/N: The first chapter!! I am super excited to see everyone’s reaction to this one. It’s the tamest chapter we’ll have, and we’ll dive into the backstory and ~murders~ as the story progresses. This was super fun to write and I hope y’all enjoy!! Also, I know the characters would likely NOT treat a member of their team like this, but it’s for the plot. And as always, please reblog/reply/send asks with feedback and please correct me if there are any gendered pronouns for reader! Happy reading :)
Prologue
Next chapter
“You’re fired, Y/N Y/L/N.” Your former Section Chief, Erin Strauss, said from where she sat on her side of her desk. “Please turn in your credentials and your gun, and promptly collect your things from your desk.” You unclipped your ID from your blazer, took the gun holster off your belt, and slid the badge out of your pocket before setting the items on her desk. “I’m truly sorry things worked out like this, you were a promising asset for the BAU. I wish you nothing but success in your future endeavors.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” You nodded briefly at Strauss and stood up, ignoring the burning in your eyes. You turned and took a deep breath before leaving her office. You walked to the elevator and pressed the number six for the last time- the floor for the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. The team in which you were a member of for the last year. God, you remembered your first day at the BAU. You were an agent out of the Sex Crimes division, and you had been apart of the team for five years the day you met Erin Strauss.
“You wanted to see me, sir?” You asked as you stepped into your boss’s office. You faltered when you saw a woman standing with her back turned to the door.
“Yes, shut the door behind you, Y/L/N.” You shut the door and he motioned for you to sit.
“Is everything okay?” You were wary as you sat down, the unknown blonde woman still not having turned around.
“Everything is fine, Agent Y/L/N.” The woman spoke as she turned around. Erin Strauss. She held her hand out and you stood up, shaking her hand firmly.
“Nice to see you again, ma’am.”
“Likewise. Take a seat and we can get started.”
That day, you were offered an opportunity to transfer into a new department- the BAU. Strauss told you that you had forty-eight hours to make your decision, but you had made your decision almost immediately. The Behavioral Analysis Unit was the division of the FBI you had wanted to work in since you were in the Academy, and you were thrilled you had an opportunity to join. You loved your team in the Sex Crimes division, but you’d be stupid to pass up a chance to work with the BAU. You’d been hoping for an opening for the last two years since you went to a seminar that the team members held. This is what you were meant to do, you knew it.
Your first day at the BAU was nothing like you imagined. Watching how the team interacted with each other before and after the seminar, you could practically feel the fondness they had for each other. The two eldest members, Agents Hotchner and Rossi, were like the “parents” of the team, while the other agents all bickered and acted like siblings. Your team worked well together, but nothing like you witnessed that day. And you hoped that you too would one day be apart of the familial relationship the agents showed two years ago. But your entrance to the unit wasn’t exactly accepted with open arms. In fact, besides Erin Strauss, no one seemed to want you there. The bubbly personality you witnessed from tech analyst Penelope Garcia was nowhere to be found, the teasing quips between the members turned to hushed whispers and surprisingly blatant, watching eyes. Hotch was even more open with his judgmental watching, while Rossi was the only semi-subtle profiler in the bunch. They all, for the most part, showed professional courtesy with you. But outside of work, you may as well have been just another person on the streets to them. At first you thought it was because you were new. Of course they’d be skeptical of someone new joining out of the blue.
“I’ll give it a week.” You had said to yourself. “Maybe then they’ll warm up to me.” Then one week turned to two, which then turned to a month, and up until your last day, you never felt like a valued member of the team. Hell, you felt like you were never even a part of the unit. You loved your job as a profiler, but you longed for your days back at the Sex Crimes unit. At least there you felt appreciated.
A beep interrupted your thoughts and the elevator doors opened, and you lifted your head as you stepped out of the elevator. You could feel the gazes of your former colleagues burning into you, which you ignored as you walked to your desk. Even breaths, relax your posture, don’t let them get a read on you. You grabbed your go-bag you kept stored under your desk, set it in your chair, and began to clear your desk. You heard a few whispers and fought the urge to say something.
“You’re really leaving?” You could feel him standing behind you before he spoke. Doctor Spencer Reid. Where do you begin with him? Spencer was the youngest member of the BAU and arguably one of the smartest when it came to the books with his three PhD’s, his ability to read twenty thousand words per minute, and his eidetic memory. Social cues were a little hit-or-miss when it came to the young doctor, but he was a great profiler.
“Yep.” Your answer was short, but that’s all you felt you could say without cracking. You had been at your dream job for a year, and now you were fired. If Hotch had anything to do with it, you’d never work for the FBI again. You’d have to go back to your job from college, cleaning houses until you could find a more permanent job. Maybe you could use your master’s degree to pick up teaching. An awkward silence filled the air until Derek spoke.
“Are you going back to your old unit?”
“Nope.” You turned to Derek. “Excuse me. I need a box.” You brushed past him, keeping your eyes straight ahead of you as you walked away and towards the storage room. A door was opened for you and your eyes met the brown ones of Penelope Garcia. “Thank you, Penelope.”
“Where are you going?” Penelope asked as she followed you. Penelope was the one person on the team to eventually warm up to you, even if it was limited to light conversation and basic civility.
“I was fired, Garcia. I’m getting another box to finish packing. Then it’s back to D.C.” She gasped and you let out an “oof” when she wrapped you in a hug. After a few seconds, you wrapped your arms around her and felt your eyes sting with unshed tears.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, my love. I’ll miss you so much.” A tear slid down your cheek and you hugged her tighter.
“I’ll miss you too, Pen.” Your voice wavered. You cleared your throat and pulled away, wiping under your eyes. “Sorry. I really need to get that box.”
“Oh, yeah, of course.” You started to walk off and Garcia called your name.
“Good luck. In whatever you do next. Not that it counts for anything, but I think you were a great fit for the team.” You offered Penelope a smile before you went to the storage closet. You walked in and shut the door and tried to pull yourself together. God, you’re so weak, Y/N, pull yourself together. You took a few deep breaths and grabbed an empty cardboard box before you left the closet. When you walked back to your desk, you noticed a little knickknack that was undeniably from Penelope’s “bat cave” and you couldn’t help but smile as you finished packing your things.
-
“Y/L/N.” You looked up when you heard Aaron Hotchner’s voice from where he stood from the door of his office. “My office.” You nodded and walked up the stairs towards Hotch’s office, and you shut the door as you walked in.
“Can we make this quick? I need to leave, and D.C. traffic will be terrible soon.”
“It will be. Take a seat.”
“I’d rather not.” Hotch gave you a pointed look and you sighed, but took a seat anyways. “Do we really have to draw this out even more? It’s humiliating enough with all the pitiful glances and whispers I’m getting.”
“I’m sorry things played out the way they did. You could’ve been an amazing profiler, Y/L/N, and a valued member of this team.”
“I guess Strauss made a mistake when she brought me on. Maybe I’m not meant for this job after all.” Neither of you said a word for a minute before you cleared your throat. “I should be headed out.”
“Sorry for holding you up. And I’m sorry again for everything, Y/N.” You nodded at Hotch, stood up, and left his office. You walked to your desk, grabbed your go-bag and box, and walked to the elevator. You allowed yourself to look around the bullpen one last time, your eyes taking in your co-workers as you stepped into the elevator. You pressed the first floor button and the doors closed for your last time as an FBI agent. As you walked out of the FBI Headquarters building, you felt a strong wave of emotions hit you all at once. Sadness turned into frustration, which turned to pure anger, which led to a lightbulb going off in your head. If you couldn’t be a good agent for the BAU, you were going to become their worst nightmare.

Tagged by @thelittleredheadedmusician! Thank you, I didn’t want to work and this is a perfect distraction~
How many works do you have on Ao3?
34, I believe
What's your total Ao3 word count?
106,218
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Batman, Star Wars, Greek mythology
What are your top five fics by kudos?
she’s like a shine on your shoes (or hearing the blues)
trix yoghurt story
Forever Today, Never Tomorrow
Lost Stars
18 (Beginnings and Endings)
(besides the first one, these are all very old)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Sometimes! I get busy often, but sometimes it’s nice to respond to comments. Especially if they point something out in the story that made them feel something, or have a question. I’m anonymous on all my work, so I don’t think people expect me to respond as much. And, well, the idea is to cultivate an experience just with the story and not necessarily with me, so it’s a half and half sort of dynamic.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Mmm…I think maybe Son of Gotham, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s angsty. Ashes Ashes (We All Fall Down) also isn’t necessarily angsty, though there is character death. The Price of Velvet Walls might be what fits the “angsty” type, because there isn’t really any resolution, so we’ll go with that one.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve ever written?
I don’t, sadly!
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
A long time ago, when I was 13 or so. We called them “flames” back then 😂 I feel like it was just an excuse for miserable people to feel a bit powerful, but nowadays I haven’t had much hate. I have had folks be upset with the direction the story goes, which can be understandable because you get so invested. I have had people talk about their frustration with how the characters are behaving while acknowledging that it’s in character and being kind to me as the author, but I don’t mind that a bit! I’ve also had folks accuse me of stealing (because I’m anonymous) and very angry with me, which is actually nice to see how vehemently they protected someone else’s/my own work. I’ve explained that the writing I post actually belongs to me before and I probably will again lol
The only time I ever got angry was when someone made an incest joke, and I was quite upset at that. Stuff like that isn’t funny, so I deleted the comment and made it a point to say that I wouldn’t accept anything of that nature.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do not. I struggle with romance, but the older I get the more I understand it. Like real romance, not what people think as romance. Plus, smut is centered around voyeurism and often degradation as a method, and that’s not my cup of tea.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, but I do see my headcanons and drabbles in stories all the time 😂 I don’t think they know that it’s mine, or even where it came from. It’s sort of cool to see my ideas become a part of a “culture” so I don’t mind.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Once, they asked to translate Son of Gotham and then disappeared off tumblr forever so I don’t know where the translation is 😅😂
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not a fandom fic, but I write with my friends alllllll the time
What's your all time favorite ship?
Uh…hmmm. Recently I’ve been into Jane Austen couples, the sort of elegance while maintaining a realistic relationship. I also love Anne/Gilbert, Han/Leia…I always blank with this question.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
All of them 😂😂
What are your writing strengths?
People have said that they like my dialogue (how “messy” it is), and how every character isn’t demonized or made to be perfect. Everyone struggles in their own way, and Simone Weil said something once about how we rarely give people understanding or truly look at them without pity or frustration. To look and understand is one of the rarest forms of human links, and thus love, I suppose. That might be the quote, I’m working off the top of my head so it’s probably not quite right!
What are your writing weaknesses?
Motivation. I’m busy and get tired easily, and I flit from project to project like a butterfly. I think one thing I struggled with in the past has been my writing not living up to my original idea. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to work with refining and accepting that it is good as it is, aka this came from me and it still has value. I think often too things are more organic when writing, and intuitively you know where the story ought to go beyond what you thought was best. I also “overdo” things the first time around, and I rarely have patience to edit before I post 😂
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don’t have any strong opinions on it, though I think it’s nice to try to get it right! I’m American so I am monolingual, and would likely need to do a lot of research/gain help from a native speaker. Basically, just be respectful with any language you use.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
American Girl. I was eleven 🥺
What's your favourite fic you've ever written?
Oof, tough question. Tbh I love a lot of the stuff I’ve written with my friends (fanfic of their worlds). I like the utter ridiculousness of the trix yoghurt fics, I like the silliness of birds all sing, I like the artistic direction of Son of Gotham, I like the feelings dark side of the morning has. Ultimately I really like she’s like a shine on your shoes, because it’s given me an opportunity to explore a lot more dynamics that I haven’t really paid attention to in canon, and discover more truths amongst characters that are accurate to real world experiences and people too. So that would be my answer!
I tag @hollyhock13 and whomever else would like to do it!

How many works do you have on AO3? 40
What’s your total AO3 word count? 200,109
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I Get The Feelin’ That You Wanna Fall
I Want You to Stay, You Have to Go
Except Your Touch
Couldn’t See You Coming
The Moments In Between
Wow, I didn’t realize my three highest were all Chenford. Nice!
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do my absolute best to reply to every comment left on my stories. Interaction with authors was one of the things that got me more actively involved with fandom and led to me writing my own fic, so I try to pay that back.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It’s a toss up. The Fuse Is Lit, So Stand Back and Watch It Burn is one of the very few (might even be the only?) fics I’ve written that has a confirmed, definite angsty ending, because it’s basically a canon scene where I added in Ward’s inner thoughts. And well...that didn’t end well for anyone. But Don’t Go is probably the angstiest, despite it being an intentionally and very ambigious ending. I think the ambiguity adds to the angst and I got a much bigger reaction from readers for it.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the strangest one you’ve written?
Not really. I don’t have a lot of personal attraction to crossovers (they’re really, really hard to do well and serve all of the characters properly). I applaud people who can do them well, I’m just not intrigued enough to try. I’ve joked around with little headcanons and daydream ideas here and there that I discuss with friends, but nothing that I have sat down to actually write and publish.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Surprisingly no. I actually haven’t really gotten any hate, either on fic or in anon asks. Maybe I joined the fandoms too late or maybe I’m too boring to pick on. Either way, works for me!
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Siiiiiigh. This is a weird one for me. No, I do not write smut. I do however cheer on my co-writers to write the smut for our stories. And I have definitely helped choreograph and beta’d smut (making sure everyone get their clothes off is harder than you think). But writing smut myself is one of those lines that I drew for myself, whether it makes sense to anyone else or not.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I am aware of. But it’s one of the things I’ve always been concerned about when people have asked to translate my fics (which is also incredibly flattering!).
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Hahahahahahahahha. Yes. I’ve done headcanon ‘verses with @vesperass-anuna and @agentramsey where we exchanged prompts and wrote stories for each other. In those, the individual stories were each written by us, but all together, the whole collection was definitely co-written. And then there’s @evieoh with whom I co-write a TON of stories. Seriously, all of my best stories are the one we co-wrote. And we really and truly co-write. There are scenes that one or the other of us wrote, but there are parts where we literally alternated sentences or even words. It’s a very enmeshed process. Bless Google Docs!
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Skyeward. Chenford is working hard to climb up there, but at the end of the day, Skyeward has my heart, my ass, and my soul. Just the other day I was listening to random songs and having major feelings about them with Skyeward.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Alias AU. It’s just too big for our brains to handle. We have SO MUCH of it mapped out, but there’s a lot of mythology that needs to be detailed, and we’re just not gonna get there. So we scaled it down to Blalias AU, as we nicknamed it. Hopefully we’ll work our way through that.
What are your writing strengths?
Banter. For sure. I love writing dialogue.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Action. Don’t think I can do it at all. But then again a lot of my fics are in settings that don’t require a lot. Also, slow burn is actually hard to write! I just want them happy and comfortable in a relationship.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don’t really do it, mostly because I don’t have a good reason to in the stories that I write. As a reader, I like a little bit, like a sentence or two, where you can guess the meaning from context. And I really love little terms of endearment (bless Darklina fic for all the Russian endearments) in other languages. But if there are big blocks of dialogue, I just skip over them. If there’s a translation, then it takes me out of the story, and if there isn’t, I’m not going to go look it up, so.... yeah. As a writer, if I had a reason to use another language, 1) I would make sure I got the translation from an actual human that speaks it (i.e. not Google Translate) and 2) it would be just a line or two that wouldn’t need a separate translation to understand.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Very very very first, was Hanson. Yup, that Hanson. I even turned in a self insert fanfic as a Creative Writing assignment in high school. I still can’t decide if my teacher knew what it was and died laughing at me or had no clue because he was an old grizzled English teacher who would rather listen to jazz than Mmmbop. But like, as intentionally writing fic, it was actually Skyeward.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Hmmm.....that’s really really hard. I loooove Couldn’t See You Coming (Skyeward Soulmate AU I wrote for Evie’s birthday a few years ago). I think Finders Keepers is my best single fic. And From My Hands, I Could Give You (Restaurant AU) might be the one I’m the very most attached to. I haven’t updated it in 2+ years, but I still think about it and daydream plan for it on a near-daily basis.

Fic writer review
Tagged by @picnokinesis thank you Taka!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
Twelve! (I’ll have to write another to make it 13 lol!)
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
665,232
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Just the one that I’ve posted online- Doctor Who, and specifically Thirteen!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Rising Tides (270)- I’m incredibly touched this has the most kudos as this was the first that I put a lot of effort into, I had with my previous works but this one was longer and covered complex themes, so it’s very touching!
2. Timeless (214)- This is the first fic I wrote! I remember doing it right after the series 12 finale as I was so compelled by the ending! I’m very pleased it’s been appreciated, a very kind way to be welcomed into the writing community!
3. On Hallowed Ground (127)- This one I also find so touching and I’m so pleased this many people enjoyed it as I became consumed by this and wrote it over 6 days so to know so many others also enjoyed something that quite literally consumed me and basically wrote itself is just fantastic!
4. Ipseity (123)- I have a soft spot for this one, too, my first longer (ish) fic that I planned out and I’m really pleased people enjoyed it! I think it all started because I wanted to see 13 in a leather jacket and was very intrigued by the prospect of her having past lives she didn’t know about!
5. Heaven Sent (110)- Ahh, I’m so happy this has made it to this list! I’m writing the final two chapters now and it’s been a passion project, my whole heart’s gone into it so to know this many have enjoyed thus far and we’ve still got a while to go (just coming up to halfway!) is really... ahh, I’m chuffed!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Absolutely, they’re so precious to writers and I really appreciate people taking the time to leave one! Also, it’s nice to chat with your readers and it’s how I’ve made many friends!
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm I had to think about this for a while, I don’t really think I’ve got any with an angsty ending, I think bittersweet might be the closest, in which case I’ll say ‘On Hallowed Ground’ as it’s angsty with the circumstances but also hopeful at the end.
7. Do you write crossovers?
No, although sometimes my mind wanders over doing a Doctor Who/Merlin crossover fic, all for the bants of seeing those characters interact (Graham and Gauis immediate besties), but I don’t think I’ll ever write it!
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
I have not, which is nice!
9. Do you write smut?
hahaha nope! I do include sexual themes in my work, but do that annoying thing where it cuts away before they get to the actual smut bit! I just can’t do it, it’d be terrible, although I know someone who wants me to ( @ivyinspace 😉)
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Wait that happens?
11. Ever had a fic translated?
Nope but if anyone wants to please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
I have not, although had talks about it!
13. All time fav ship?
All time?! Gotta be the Titanic. Lmao no I’d say Thasmin, although I am partial to some Thoscei
14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’ll ever finish Cosmic Fireworks. I wish I’d left it as a one shot tbh but I don’t want to delete the second chapter off ao3. But I can’t see myself finishing it, I wasn’t into it as much as I am normally with my fics, but we’ll see, who knows, perhaps one day I’ll wake up with the inclination!
15. Writing strengths?
*mind goes blank*
ermm... I think I’m quite good at taking complex themes and exploring them well- I find that the pieces come together easily in my mind and (provided I write it all out and plan first) it’s like I can lay out a problem and carefully craft the solution. I suppose that might make me good at characterisation? I also think that I’m good at setting the scene and describing places maybe.
16. Writing weaknesses?
I write way too much, I need to be more concise. Also I think I have a habit of needing my characters to show they’re good people, and that means sometimes my own voice carries over into theirs, and perhaps I could be better at exploring the complexities of characters, if that makes sense (something that goes beyond characterisation is what I mean, like maybe I’m making the point too hard sometimes). I also think that sometimes I need to chill- there doesn’t have to be a big point to scenes sometimes, no great narrative or thing to take away, sometimes it’s just the pleasure of reading something that’s important, even if it’s silly.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I wish I could speak another language, but alas I cannot, otherwise I would, but I would then put translation.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
It was actually Merlin, I never published it online but it was when I was about 13/14 and first discovered fanfic and was a huge fan of Merlin I thought, ‘that sounds fun let’s do it’! I was already writing little silly stories anyway so it was like a whole new concept which also felt familiar, although they were awful so I’m glad they never went online!
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
Agh idk! In terms of a story I think is good quality and engaging, I’d say ‘On Hallowed Ground’ as it’s concise, the plot and emotions mix well, I think, and overall I’m really proud of it. But in terms of my favourite one to write, I’m not sure if I can pick one. I enjoy writing them all, although tbh with some there are chapters I just have to grit my teeth through to write (by my own fault because I make things way too complicated!), but enjoyment is what it’s about! But maybe I’d single out my aus because they’re more my own invention that the others, in particular Heaven Sent- so that and Rising Tides, final answer! (see, this is what I mean, I write too much jfc...)
This is open to anyone who wants to do it!! 😊

Ao3 Things:
How many works do you have on AO3?
127
What’s your total AO3 word count?
1,009,815 at present.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
If we count, we'll be here a while since there's sub-sections of a lot of these....
The Before Times (aka Pre Ao3): Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon, Beyblade, Oban Star Racers, OUAT, Zoids, Inuyasha, Digimon... i think that's it???
AO3: Dragon Ball Z/Super, Destiny, Star Wars (assorted media types)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Parent, The Foundling (sorry I never finished this one, y'all, someday...), Project Compass, Marching On, The Truce (basically every single one of them is Mandalorian fanfic, except PC)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to respond to every comment that comes my way. It's one of the nicest things when someone takes the time to tell you how they connect with or enjoy the thing you create, and I want people to know that I've heard and appreciate them.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably this Thranto story: The Nighthunter's Guile
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not typically. I don't know why, but they've never been my thing, though some authors I know write amazing ones!
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Recently? Not so much, but yes, I have.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do, though nothing crazy. I tend to write what I call feelsmut, though I occasionally dabble in D/s, voice kink, and praise kink.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes, though it wasn't the whole fic so much as it was the plot and several key lines/phrases.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I've had works translated into Russian before, and also podficced (though that's not so much translation it's still ultra important in terms of accessibility)
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Negative, though I do like to talk concept and theory with close friends.
What’s your all time favourite ship?
Thranto - it literally checks ALL the boxes.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
The Foundling, my Mando season 2 alternative. I had so many great ideas, then canon came along...
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at tackling emotions.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Settings, generally being concise vs blathering on forever.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think it can be a useful tool, but you need to be careful with how much is in other languages. It can quickly take a reader out of the moment if there's too much going on they don't understand. I tend to specify what language, or else use certain words that are then explained and used frequently, or ones a reader might find interesting/endearing.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Probably Pokémon. I hope my parents found all my diaries starring 8yo me who loved writing about Misty.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
It's a tie between Project Compass and Revenant.

My HTTYD Books Fanfic Ideas
Greetings, my fellow Dragonmarkers! I just wanted to post this for you guys as I tell you what my plans are in regards to fanfics for the HTTYD Book Fandom.
Besides my “A Birthday to Remember” short story which is still in-progress, and the odd one-shot, here are some projects that I’d like to do for 2020-2022:
Companions of the Dragonmark — Platonic Pairings Series
This work, as you already know from a previous post, focuses on platonic pairings in this series. There will be various types, such as human/dragon, human/weapon, human/human, human/pet, etc. Also includes friends, family, mentor/student, and stranger relationships. This will be the main series I will be working on after “A Birthday to Remember”.
<><><><><>
Antagonistic Pairings Series
This work is something that I’ve just recently came up with, which focuses on antagonistic pairings. This can be pairings between hero/villain, villain/villain, villain/antagonist, hero/antagonist, antagonist/antagonist, etc. Pairings can include, Hiccup and Alvin, Snotlout and Thuggory, Alvin and Excellinor, UG the Uglithug and Excellinor, Madguts and Big Bertha, Snotlout and Hiccup, etc.
I’m liking this because nobody really writes fanfics that focuses on antagonistic pairings. Only romantic and platonic pairings.
What do you guys think?
<><><><><>
Wilderwest Whumpfest
This idea was cooked up thanks to recent posts announcing Whumptober 2020. Granted, I don’t plan on doing it for this Fandom, but I do plan on still doing this work — a collection of one-shots focusing on whumping various characters in the series. I’d LOVE to hear what you’d like to see and if this sounds like a great idea. ^_^
<><><><><>
A Tale of Two Swords
This idea has been stewing in the back of mind for about a year now. This is basically a story told from the perspective of Endeavor, the Dragonsword, as he narrates the story and tells us how he came to be and we’ll see his thoughts and perspective not only throughout the lives of Hiccup the First and his line, but also Grimbeard the Ghastly, Hiccup the Second, and Hiccup the Third, and following up all up into the finale of Book 12. Essentially, this IS a Saga. Somewhere along the way, the Stormblade will be introduced and we’ll get into his POV as well once he is born. needless to say that there’ll be a rivalry between the two — though Endeavor just doesn’t care and ignores Stormblade whenever possible. I mean, the Dragonsword is around 1000 years old already, and the Stormblade is acting all macho for a newborn hunk of shiny metal. In Endeavor’s “eyes”, Stormblade be an infant. lol XD
Also, I just REALLY love Endeavor. (I have an old post that talks all about that here.) One of my favorite characters in the series, despite it being a sword and not a human or an animal character. But I can feel him humming with personality... if that makes sense? But I’ve always had a special love for personification. Ever since I was young and studied literature in middle school, personification has always been my most favorite plot device. I can’t really explain why. Maybe it’s because it’s fun? Getting into the minds of inanimate objects, animals, nature, etc and imagining what they would say and act and feel if they could speak and communicate? It’s fun for ME, at least. ^_^
<><><><><>
Exile on Cannibal Isle
This story idea is another one that’s been stewing in my brain for about a year or less, give or take. (I’m quite proud of the title, if I do say so myself. Hehe.) This is basically a what-if scenario, a canon divergence, that focuses on what would happen should Hiccup and the others were exiled the night that they should’ve been. That would’ve been interesting to see. I mean, of course, it would mean that 800+ Hooligans and Meatheads would perish, but such is the life of a Saga character(s). ^_^
Other alternative (and more likely) scenarios could be:
1) Hiccup, Thuggory, and the others still get banished after the demise of the Green Death (because Vikings are jerks).
or 2) Hiccup fails to get Toothless in time so he ends up being the only one in his group to NOT have a dragon, and thus is immediately exiled (in winter, yay).
(If you guys can come up with better scenarios, let me know.)
Now, Cannibal Isle is on the map on the Book of Dragons extra book. You won’t find it anywhere else. (That being said, the Isle DOES get mentioned by Hiccup in the epilogue of Book 4: “How to Cheat a Dragon’s Curse”. Only other time.)
Now in Book 1, while they mention that the kids will be exiled on the Mainland, it mentions cannibals. Of course, in Book 8, it mentions that the Vikings of the Western Archipelago hate sailing anywhere near the Eastern side (the Mainland), so it seems contradictory, in my opinion, for them to send the kids there into exile. So when I saw this map, and saw that there was an island called “Cannibal Isle”, it made sense to me. A place where cannibals exist, and it’s close by from the Inner Isles.
What do you think? Should they be exiled on Cannibal Isle or on the Mainland? Which sounds better?
<><><><><>
Thuggory’s Tale
This story idea is yet another one that I’ve been thinking on doing for awhile now. This essentially is Thuggory’s story, and focuses on HIS POV throughout the 12 books — including and especially his views and thoughts concerning Hiccup. I mean, the guy DESERVES to have a book that’s all about HIM, right?! He’s so cool! I’m such a Thuggory fan! I wish I had a brother like him. I envy Hiccup. lol ^_^
The bromance is strong with this one. lol XD
<><><><><>
Quest for Wilderwest — Quest for Camelot AU
This work, as you already know on a previous post, will be a Quest for Camelot AU involving the HTTYD Book characters. Since I’ve already gotten a lot of feedback on this already, I might end up doing this story first as my first multi-chapter story. But we’ll see. ;-)
<><><><><>
Fishlegs’s Impossible Quest 2
This work I just thought up about a month ago. This is what the title says. Fishlegs SECOND Quest! This time, trying to win Barbara’s hand in marriage — much to Hiccup’s ire. (What is with this guy and these Valkyrie princesses?) I’m debating whether Hiccup should tag along, or if he should stay since he IS the KING. Maybe give Fishlegs Camicazi, instead? Along with some warriors from his Tribe, of course. Him being a Chief and all that. Needless to say, Hiccup and Camicazi will NEEEEVER let Fishlegs live this one down, regardless if he succeeds or not.
Speaking of which, SHOULD I have Fishlegs succeed? Or should I let him fail... again? I mean, would Barbara even be interested in a guy who’s allergic to her CAT?!
<><><><><>
The Wilderwest Saga
The title is what it says it is. It’s about the story AFTER the series, that focuses on the reign of King Hiccup the Third and co. and how the Wilderwest came to be, what Hiccup did during his life, his future wife and family, etc. It’ll also focus on the other characters and their lives as well. I’m very excited about this one as well. And I’m sure you are, too.
Maybe I’ll get lucky one day and Cressida Cowell will read it and be like, “Oh, what a great idea! I’ll write a sequel series focusing on Hiccup the Third’s reign and finally bring a conclusion to Hiccazi.”
I mean, it’s wishful thinking, but a guy can dream, can’t he? lol XD
<><><><><>
Hiccup the First’s Saga
This work will be a Saga focusing on Hiccup the First and his story, from his birth, to the events of the First Dragon War, to him being the First King and the details of his reign, of his conflict against the Romans and the Uglithugs — essentially filling out the blanks in the life of one extraordinary character that most resembles Hiccup the Third.
Hiccup the Second’s Saga
This work will be focusing on Hiccup the Second’s story, and will be the sequel of Grimbeard’s Saga (or Hiccup the First’s Saga). It will focus on his life with the dragons, his reunion with his father, his life at the palace, his adventures, his conflicts with his father and eldest brother... his death (which, even in a saga, was messed up).
Oh, aaaaand I might have him find love as well. Hehe. Because the books never specify how old he was when he died. And if he was a rebel and went to the library, spoke Dragonese, took the Dragonmark, freed the slaves multiple times, I have a feeling that Hiccup might’ve fallen in love with one of these slaves and married her in secret and had a child through her, whose line eventually led to the Druid Guardian.
So, yeah, this Saga’s gonna get messy... and juicy. Hehe. ^_^
<><><><><>
Possible Projects:
.
Hiccup the Third’s Saga
This work will be a more realistic version of the HTTYD Book series — similar to what you’d see in a Viking Saga, like those for the other two Hiccups. However, this does not mean that the plot will be seriously changed. It just means that I’ll be getting rid of some of the more... exaggerated and absurd parts of the plot that wouldn’t happen in real life. I’ll also be getting rid of the horned helmets and make the Tribes more Viking-y. And I’ll be adding more historical elements into the story, along with those of the previous two Hiccups.
I’m debating whether to get rid of the Dragonese/talking dragons element to the story (having it like the movie franchise), or if I should keep it. What do you think?
Termagant’s Tale
This work will be a story focusing on Fishlegs’s mother, Termagant. How she grew up, how she lived, how she met and fell in love with Alvin the Fake Fisherman, how she felt when he disappeared and how she gave birth... and how she was forced to get rid of her baby. Every single thing. I’m not sure whether to do this from Termagant’s POV, or if I should do it through the eyes of Arrogance, Patience, and Innocence, her Deadly Shadow, and have it be as if they’re telling Fishlegs the tale of his mother from their eyes.
What do you think?
Grimbeard the Ghastly’s Saga
This work will be focusing on the life of Grimbeard the Ghastly, from his birth to his death. Every detail will be noted, every story shall be heard, and every scene shall be seen. Even the stories of him that you DO know won’t tell you everything. This Saga will further detail and add on to those stories. Including his marriage to Chinhilda, his war against the Uglithugs, his raiding expeditions, his reign as King, his questionable and outright foolish decisions — the whole shebang!
Disclaimer: While I will try my very best, it is most likely that he won’t be such a nice and relatable character to like.
Modern AU series
This work will a collection of one-shots focusing on the HTTYD Book characters in the modern day. The reason why I have this here, rather than farther up, is because I don’t have many ideas for one-shots in this AU. So I would appreciate any prompts and character choices to help me in this, and maybe I might just get working on this if I end up getting enough.
<><><><><>
Anyway, these are the projects that I hope to do in the next couple of years. (If I’m still alive by then, that is.) These stories will probably take time and I’ll probably be focusing on the top 3 since they’ll be one-shots, basically, so they’ll be easier for me to write. But I will be choosing a multi-chapter story idea and working on it.
While I won’t be working on these quite as much since I have other accounts and other Fandoms that I place higher priorities on, I will be working on these as much as I can, despite my schedule. This Fandom holds a special place in my heart and I want to contribute as much as I can so that fans can continue reading recent fanfics for this precious Fandom. ^_^
So tell me what you think? Any titles that interest you? Let me know either in the comments or reblogs.

Introduction to the Stars AU: A General Overview/FAQ Post
What is the Stars AU?
Basically, the Stars AU started out as a SPOP AU where Bow and Glimmer accidentally conceive a child shortly after the portal incident. A few months and countless conversations & roleplay sessions later, it’s become a full-fledged AU with separate timelines, a TON of OCs, and plans to write fanfic/commission fan art in the future.
Since we’ve come up with so much stuff for this AU, we decided to make a side blog for it!
@darkmasterofcupcakes and myself (@roses-renegade) are the AU’s co-creators.
Wait, this AU has separate timelines?
Yep! The original version of this AU had Glimmer and Bow conceiving their daughter Andromeda not too long after the portal incident. We have worked on this version of the AU for a while. Around the time that season 5 of SPOP came out, we made an alternate version of the Stars AU (or, an AU of the AU) that was more canon compliant- in this version, Andromeda is conceived shortly after the SPOP finale. We decided to keep both versions of the Stars AU (we usually refer to them as the “canon divergent” and “canon compliant” timelines). For the most part, both versions of the Stars AU have the same story/OCs, but the timelines are just a bit different (since we based the timing of a LOT of the events of the AU on how old Andromeda would be when they occurred).
To give you even MORE of a headache (haha), we also have come up with a “dark timeline” version of the Stars AU, BUT more on that later...
Okay, gotcha. What is the Stars AU about?
The most basic answer to this question is “the events of Bow and Glimmer’s life after the portal incident.”
This AU tackles (among other things) Glimmer and Bow’s season 4 storylines, the development of their romantic relationship, their journey to parenthood, their lives (and, really, everyone else’s lives) after the war, and, eventually, the lives of their children.
Why is it called the Stars AU?
Back when we were first brainstorming names for Andromeda, we came up with this idea that Bow and Glimmer would give all of their kids star-related names. My (@roses-renegade) reasoning for this was that it was sort of a symbolic thing. Glimmer and Bow’s children are going to be growing up in this new era of peace on Etheria. I wanted their names to kind of “reflect” this new era, and one of the most noticeable physical aspects of post-war Etheria is that the stars have returned now that Etheria is out of Despondos and a part of the larger universe once again.
So, yeah. Glimmer and Bow’s kids will get to grow up in this new peaceful world under the stars. Hence, “the Stars AU.”
Okay, so... tell me more about Andromeda, since she basically got this whole AU started.
Princess Andromeda “Andi” of Bright Moon is the daughter of Queen Glimmer of Bright Moon and Bow, Master Archer of the Rebellion (and later the King of Bright Moon). After the portal incident and the “death” of Queen Angella of Bright Moon, Bow and Glimmer ended up getting closer and eventually confessed their feelings to each other. After exploring their feelings and relationship, they ended up having sex one night. They then decided to "take things slow” while dating. Not too long after her coronation, Glimmer found out from Shadow Weaver that she was pregnant. She and Bow decided to keep the baby. A lot of our initial work on this AU was about how Glimmer’s pregnancy affected her season 4 storyline and character arc, as well as her relationship with the other SPOP characters. Around the end of her second trimester/beginning of her third trimester, Glimmer activated the Heart of Etheria (something that both Bow and Adora were against). This caused a massive rift between Glimmer and Bow. However, Bow still tried (and failed) to save Glimmer from being abducted by Horde Prime. Glimmer became a prisoner on the Velvet Glove, and eventually gave birth prematurely on the ship (partially from the immense amount of stress she was under, and partially because the baby may have been affected by Glimmer’s activation of the Heart of Etheria). Catra, who Glimmer had formed an uneasy alliance with while on the ship, ended up helping her deliver the baby. Catra then helped Glimmer (and Andromeda) escape, and the mother-daughter pair were rescued from space by Bow and taken aboard Mara’s ship. Glimmer and Bow soon made up, and Andromeda was put in an incubator (created by Entrapta) on the ship. After that, the majority of what occurred in the canon version of season 5 happened- the gang had some space adventures, eventually got back to Etheria, and Horde Prime was defeated. After Adora and Catra saved Etheria, Glimmer and Bow shifted their focus to making sure that their new little family was okay. Glimmer spent a few days recovering in the infirmary at Castle Bright Moon with Bow by her side. Andromeda, on the other hand, spent a month or so in the infirmary before eventually being “cleared” to go (much to Glimmer and Bow’s immense relief).
Dang, that’s a lot. And that’s only the beginning?
Yep! After developing this “main storyline” of the AU, we shifted our focus to Glimmer and Bow’s life after the SPOP finale. In our AU, a lot happens after SPOP’s “happily ever after”...
What are some of the things that happen afterwards?
Oh, you know... rebuilding Etheria... the BFS going on their little “return magic to the universe” road trips... Glimmer and Bow navigating parenthood... Angella coming back from the dead...
Angella’s back?!
YEP. We thought she (and Micah) deserved better, so... yeah. We brought her back. No regrets. (Glimmer is still queen, though.)
What are the main SPOP ships involved in this AU?
Glimmer/Bow
Catra/Adora
Sea Hawk/Mermista
Scorpia/Perfuma/Entrapta (poly trio)
Micah/Angella
George/Lance
How many OCs does this AU have so far?
Okay, get ready... *deep breath*:
4 Glimbow children
1 Catradora child
3 Seamista children
8 Scorpia/Perfuma/Entrapta children
1 Micangella child
1 Castaliet child
... a few OCs for some of the “next gen kids” to fall in love with...
Tell me more about these “next gen kids”...
All in good time. (I’m planning to write some sort of “masterpost” for all of the OCs eventually.)
Okay then. Tell me about this “dark timeline” you mentioned earlier... because that sounded ominous and now I can’t stop thinking about it in the back of my head...
Basically, Glimmer’s final two children were twins, and in the “dark timeline” she dies shortly after childbirth, after a very difficult and stressful pregnancy. The “dark timeline” version of the Stars AU follows the impact of Glimmer’s death on everybody. You know, fun stuff.
Note: Glimmer only dies in the “dark timeline.” She stays alive in the main timeline/version of this AU, which is what we’ll be posting about here 99% of the time anyway.
Wow. You really like to make the characters suffer, huh?
I mean, sometimes, yeah... not always, though! We promise!
Is there fanfiction of this AU that I can read?
Not yet! We’re working on that though...
What kind of things will you be posting on this blog?
Basically anything and everything about the Stars AU... character designs, headcanons, random lore about the Stars AU, fanfic/fan art (eventually), etc. We wanted a place to put everything pertaining to this AU!
Can I submit questions/prompts/whatever about this AU and its characters?
Yes, always!! We would love to provide you with lore. :)
If I ever feel inclined to draw one of the Stars AU OCs, can I?
Yeah sure! Just make sure you tag us. :)
What’s the tag you’ll be using for this AU?
We will be tagging our posts with #SPOP Stars AU if you want to follow that tag. :)

A couple of you have asked for it, and Part II of my Bellarke fanfic rec is finally here!
This is suuuuuuper late considering I promised it a while ago, but I blame moving to a new house, teaching a new course, and getting sick at least twice in one month. What can ya do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
These fics are in no particular order because one) I don’t have any particular favorites and two) I ain’t got time for that. I hope y’all enjoy!
P.S. If y’all missed the first part of my fanfic rec, you can find it here!
P.P.S. This is my disclaimer that I obviously haven’t included all the Bellarke fics out there. If you have a favorite that I did not include, I probably haven’t read it yet, in which case, please share!
a castle in the clouds by @pawprinterfanfic Star Wars AU. Bellamy is Han. Clarke is Leia. Oh and did I mention that there’s some fake dating? That doesn’t normally do it for me, but I can make an exception this time. *kisses fingertips*
We’ll Paint the Town Blue by @animmortalist
Clarke wants to ruin her reputation in this College AU and who better to do it than resident heartbreaker Bellamy Blake? They enter a friends with benefits/Bonnie and Clyde arrangement (it works I swear), but oops, they like like each other.
(clumsy) ‘cause I’m fallin’ in love by skai_heda
Sometimes you just need a cute little S1 AU where Bellamy faints and Clarke gives him a hard time for it. Oh, and feelings.
small dot among infinite stars by @kindclaws
This is a really interesting take on how one change can drastically affect future events. It’s a S2+ AU where Dante shoots Cage and Clarke doesn’t irradiate Mount Weather, but the end of the world still comes.
someone let the poets out by @kindclaws (WIP)
This one’s hella meta and I love it. Even though it’s based on the GoT cast, I could totally see it also applying to the 100 cast given how S7 may or may not go. Fingers crossed for a decent ending. Anyway, Bellarke and co. are the stars of a popular show in its final season, and they are horrified by what Jaha comes up with story-wise. (Think those final GoT table reads. C’mon, we’ve all seen the footage of Conleth tossing his script aside when Varys is killed off). So they decide to recreate their own low-budget version of the final season. And Bellamy may or not be having a crisis regarding his feelings for a certain blonde co-star. OH! And how could I forget the social media tie-ins? Brilliant. Definitely read this one on a desktop to get the full experience.
how I learned to stop worrying and love the apocalypse by @kindclaws
Another kindclaws fic. I’m sorry but the writing is just so good. I can’t help but include them. This one’s a Praimfaya AU fic and also an exes fic and also a time loop fic and also an angst fic and I love it so much. I personally recommend the 2nd person POV version (chapter 1), but if 3rd person is more your jam, then just read chapter 2!
An Evening I Will Not Forget by @octannibal-blake
Bellamy is a soldier who has a “one night stand” with Clarke the night before he’s deployed, but these losers can’t have a one night stand to save their lives, so of course there’s emotion involved. I’m a sucker for military AUs, so of course I liked this one.
i would give my life just to hold your hand (i’m your number one fan) by @captaindaddykru
Bellamy’s an actor. Clarke’s a singer. He likes some of her photos on Twitter. She slides into his DMs. It’s the start of a beautiful friendship love story. These idiots I swear. I’m actually surprised this is the first safeandsound13 fic I’ve listed on here considering the first part of my other fic rec was basically a love letter to her Hunger Games AU series. That, and I’m subscribed to her as an author. Seriously. Go read everything she writes.
so i sing a song of love by @hiddenpolkadots
Clarke gets pregnant and Bellamy’s the father, but they’re not together. Oops. They figure it out.
It’s All Coming Back by @johnmurphysass
Clarke receives an invitation to Octavia’s wedding, but the problem is that she hasn’t seen Bellamy or Octavia in over 5 years. And Clarke and Bellamy are both hiding secrets. Y’all. This one was emotional af. But so good. I will say, heed Tricia’s author tags and warnings. Just in case.
a beam in darkness: let it grow. by starsonfire
I’m not sure if this user has a tumblr, so I just linked their ao3 profile. This is a S6 Finale AU where Clarke gives up and Bellamy helps her. Again, heed the warnings just in case. But it’s really good.
like you mean it (like it’s splitting you in two) by @talistheintrovert
Talis lets them sleep. She lets tHEM SLEEP. That’s all you need to know.
as moonlight through the pines by @hiddenpolkadots
Clarke and Bellamy get matching tattoos while drunk and now all the Grounders think they’re married. Heh. Sign me up.
guess it’s never really over by @captaindaddykru
Bellarke + exes + Bellarke kid + Bellarke trying for another kid + angst + fluff = Bingo for Lindsay. Looking back at it, I think it was written for Bellarke Bingo. An ACTUAL bingo fic. So basically this just means you really need to read it.
All tomorrow’s parties. by @robotmango
This is a really cool take on a Praimfaya AU. Bellamy is for intents and purposes the Time Traveler’s Husband. I LOVED this one.
Kiss It Better by delinquents
This is a really cute S1 AU with forehead kisses. Forehead kisses! It’s the only work by the author, but I hope they write more.
speedin’ into a new sunrise by @carrieeve
Clarke participates in a night of speed dating and ends up reuniting with an old college friend slash huge what if. It’s super cute and fluffy and totally the type of fic needed to break up an angst session. I love angst like nobody’s business, but sometimes you just need something happy.
everything will bring a chain of love by @lost-n-stereo
Another cute fic but this time with Bellarke as parents! These are short little fills combined into a one shot, and they’re just perfect. I love it.
A Safe Place to Land by @octannibal-blake
Bellarke as parents but the Angst™ version. Basically Marper dies and Bellarke take care of Jordan. It’s sad but so good, I promise.
Still Yours by @arysafics
Bellamy and Clarke agree to be friends after they break up. Angst ensues. Being friends with your ex is hard y’all. I promise it has a happy ending.
when it all comes together by soundtracktomysoul
Jasper wants Bellarke together and creates a group chat that includes all the delinquents. Plotting and shenanigans ensue. This one was super fun, and in going back to it, I discovered that this author also has a Bellarke Rock Band AU. Haven’t read it yet but definitely going to check it out!
gone til november, on my city come december by @jamesstruttingpotter
Bellarke are cops and Bellamy goes undercover. Angst. Pining. Gah, I love it.
we’re never done with killing time by @bestivals
The angst. The angst. This is a post-s5 AU fic where they’re onboard the Eligius ship but didn’t go into cryo. Bellamy and Clarke have a series of 48 conversations and we get what they were supposed to do which is TALK.
I think I’m going to call it for now. I hope you enjoy all these wonderful fanfics! And if you have additional favorites, please share!
