Seriously, we should all probably start worrying about Golden cause I watched this episode and from the sound of it, Golden is either gonna pull a Ruin and start nuking other dimensions or start hunting down people who bring threats to this dimension i.e. Sun,Moon,Lunar,Puppet,Monty,Eclipse...etc etc
I think this will all turn into some endgame level event where all the shows will team up to stop Golden and any other threats he may bring.
this would be a much easier question if they let Meg into the lineup. dangit. >:(
in terms of, like, favorite movie/adaptation, I have a lot of appreciation for the OG three -- Snow, Cinderella, and Aurora (...okay, yes, I was basically predisposed to being obsessed with Diasomnia). overall it's a toss-up, but Snow has my favorite design! she's so classically '30s but in, like, a technicolor way. it's great! ❄️
in terms of who I spent my entire childhood low-key obsessed with (and isn't Meg)...that would be Jasmine. no question. especially in the purple dress. I love me a snarky princess covered in organza and it's all her fault (and Meg's).
It takes a specific kind of skill-set and training to be able to warp and meld the voice. It takes a certain kind of talent and dedication to hone that talent into the ability to meld the voice and invoke emotion with one's voice alone. Actors are used to using their voice secondarily to their body language and their facial expressions. It's all mirrored back on camera. They do have nuance. But it's a different kind of nuance and a different kind of training to produce that nuance.
Voice actors might get their likeness transposed on their character's design, and maybe their mannerisms might seep into the character's animation. But when it's all said and done: their presence is in their voice. They are bringing a character to life, showing that emotion in their voice, trying to keep a specific accent, drawl, pitch, tone in that voice and keep it consistent for their recording sessions.
The voice actor is like a classically trained musician who can play first chair in a competitive, world-renown orchestra. The actor (who fills the voice actor's role) is like a moot who played violin in beginner and intermediate high school orchestra and thinks they can get into Juilliard with that 2-4 years of experience.
This doesn't mean that the HS orchestra moot can't play. They can even be really good at it. Maybe they won competitions and sat first chair. But they are not in the same league as the person who's been training their whole lives and lives and breathes to hone their craft using the instrument and all of the training they've ever acquired to perfect it. They are not meant for the same roles. They are not in the same caliber. You do not hire the HS equivalent when you want to play complex music in a competitive orchestra.
Actors are not the same as voice actors.
And furthermore, actors - especially big name actors - taking the roles of animated characters for big budget films or TV pilots makes no sense anyways when - at least in the case of TV pilots - there's not a point to hiring a big budget actors anyways. That money could be used elsewhere (like paying your animators), and the talent that is brought onto the screen for X character could then be hired on to voice said character no recasting required.
I wouldn't say voice acting as a profession is in danger exactly, but it's certainly being disrespected and overlooked for celebrity clout, and this has ALWAYS been an issue. Shoot, even Robin Williams knew that much - which is why he tried so hard not to be used as a marketing chess piece for Aladdin and got royally pissed off when it happened anyways. People shouldn't go to any movie (but especially not animated films) because "oh famous actor is in it". People should go because it's a good movie and the voice acting is good.
People who honest to god think that voice actors are replaceable because "oh well anyone can voice act" or "I like xyz celebrity so naturally it'll be good" ... Honestly I just wish you'd reassess your priorities because you're missing the point and are part of the problem.
the glenn macdennis comment hurt obviously but also so necessarily cause i’d gotten too delusional i was too obsessed with the potential final prize instead of fully enjoying what i love about what macden is rn which is the saddest awfulest gay tragedy ever written this is such a good catalyst for lowering my expectations and just living laughing loving in the doomed queerbait this is what shipping’s about what fandom’s about what life is about let us rest peacefully knowing that we absolutely will still get shit and it’ll be crazy and funny and sad but ultimately the power to make it beautiful lies with us. as the queerbait gods intended
Kamala won’t be ~officially~ nominated until the convention in August, but I would start donating now/as soon as a link is available. And make sure you’re ready to vote: vote.org We need everyone now more than ever!!
I just don’t think people realize how hard it is to overhaul a campaign like this. Like… even just to rebrand the website, make new merch, make new ads, rebrand the events, alone will cost millions of dollars - assuming the existing Biden campaign apparatus is on board to become the Harris campaign (a fairly safe assumption). Then to pick a new Vice President before August’s DNC… and then nominate the new candidate… It’s just a lot.
On the one hand having positive media attention on the Democratic side is good - Kamala appears to be polling well. On the other hand I don’t love “Biden drops out” being plastered across Americans’ TV screens for the next few days. I don’t love that primary votes were ignored. I don’t like basing enormous decisions on a handful of polls. But like… no time to worry or panic now! We’re going to have to set all that aside and get everyone on board, like, today.
Because the one thing campaigns cannot get more of is time and (assuming Kamala Harris is the new candidate) she barely has time to run a campaign. Voting starts in October. If you want a Democratic president in 2025 I would strongly recommend getting involved in any way - donate, volunteer, encourage others to vote - because this is going to take a near-miracle to achieve. It’s not that Kamala isn’t capable of beating Trump or running a winning campaign; I’m very confident that she is. I am just not at all confident that she has enough time to communicate her message, so… let’s get the word out and get it done! Kamala 2024!
"Seungmin would be SO hot if he got muscle like, can you imagine?" You would be hotter if you shut your mouth but we can't always get what we want so <3
We've bought into the idea that education is about training and "success", defined monetarily, rather than learning to think critically and to challenge. We should not forget that the true purpose of education is to make minds, not careers. A culture that does not grasp the vital interplay between morality and power, which mistakes management techniques for wisdom, which fails to understand that the measure of a civilization is its compassion, not its speed or ability to consume, condemns itself to death.
"im nervous" "I'M NERV—YOURE NERVOUS." "where's my helmet?" sasha cracks like he isnt 10 seconds away from breaking the skin on his forearm from how hard hes holding it
also sasha being a wisecrack in the midst of his nerves is my favourite thing yeah (the anxiety is all-consuming but who will make the boys giggle? exactly)
