i think it’s apparent that josh has a flare for the dramatics, and id like to think he’s like that during his day to day life as well.

i think he would be incredibly pouty if you were preoccupied with work and he was not. i think at first he’d act like he was okay with it, and try to keep himself busy. but alas, i think he would get bored and honestly a teensy bit jealous over your undivided attention being on something that’s not him. to try and get your attention he would periodically sigh wistfully. when you proceed to continue your work, he increases the volume of his sighs and moves closer to wherever you’re sitting. when you lift your gaze from whatever you’re doing and deadpan “may i help you sweets?” josh exclaims that he feels he’s being ignored, and he knows it’s slightly clingy but he just wants to “hangout with you” and “it would be a great pick me up if you guys could hangout.” how could you say no to him!! he’s so excited when you remove the laptop from your lap and pat your thighs so he can rest his head in your lap and curl close to your tummy. he’d pick up your hand and place it on his head so you get the hint to scratch his neglected scalp (“munch if i was a cat i would totally be purring right now”.) then he will ask you what you’re working on, and listen intently to your explanation, he would be incredibly engaged and gaze at you intently while you talk, he would even softly interrupt and ask questions. he wants to put just as much into what you’re interested in, as you do for him! he loves supporting you, and would listen to you ramble about whatever until the cows come home (especially if you’re giving him noggin scratches). (what i wouldn’t give to explain the chemistry of candles to josh while i run my hands through his mullet)

Once you weasel your way into his heart, Mammon becomes such a clingy demon. You have the pact, sure, but Mammon hates being away from you for a long time. At school, he’d follow you through the halls with either his hand in yours or on the small of your back. At home, he wraps his arms around you and refuses to let go. Most days, the two of you end up cuddling in either of your beds or on a couch in the common room. It’s strange for him to admit that a piddly little human turned him into a lover.

There was a knock at the door, and Belphegor's familiar voice called out your name.

With little hesitation, he invited himself in and made a beeline to your bedside. "Oh, were you sleeping?"

"No," you admitted. You were under the covers and laying down, really channeling the Avatar of Sloth's sin, but you hadn't been asleep. It was just nice to relax.

"Good. Look at this." Belphegor climbed onto the bed beside you to show off a colorful little package. "Beel bought me some gummy sushi candy. It's pretty good, but I wanted to share them with you."

He lifted up the covers to move them aside, exposing you to gust of cold air. You shivered and turned, propping your head on your hand as he started lining up little plastic trays of candy atop the mattress. He pointed to each in turn, explaining, "this one is egg. I think you have that kind in the human world, too. It looks so detailed. We also have kraken, pufferfish, and cetus. I like that the candy isn't too sweet, you should try one."

You picked the gummy egg sushi for familiarity. As you observed your treat, Belphegor took hold of the sheets once more and started wrapping them around himself. "That's a good choice. Do you like it? I'll ask Beel to pick up some more next time." Consciously or not, he blanketed the sheets over his head and across his shoulders like a hooded shawl. You popped the candy into your mouth.

"Pretty good, right?"

You nodded. Belphegor took a turn to pick a lumpy-looking blue gummy sushi. It must be modeled after some demonic creature. "This one is a little sour, like the real thing."

While chewing, Belphegor managed to take possession of all of the sheets. They encased him like a cocoon while you were left with nothing but candy and empty wrappers. He began nodding off and slumped to the side, over your legs.

You may have been bamboozled.

I like the idea that Cross realised Killer was touchstarved (he didn't have the words for it but he noticed how much Killer would settle down from it) and started giving him very small basic affection. Pat on the back, hand on the shoulder, maybe a quick friendly hug, all things he probably learned through royal guard training and thinks of as normal friend/coworker stuff.

But as they both got more comfortable in the routine of it, Killer started instigating touches and he was not shy about it (like not just leaning into Cross's side during movie night, he looks like he's trying to get into Cross's jacket with him)

And that this more intense affection made Cross realise he might also be just a little bit touchstarved

re last reblog I do see fanfic culture pushing/replicating a certain model of "what trauma looks like," "how trauma works"

this is a problem across all areas of society obviously, but transformative works are, well, transformative. they're about crafting and modifying narratives where the fan-creator sees a flaw or a lack -- often for the better! don't get me wrong, I've done my fair share of "I take a hammer and I fix the canon," it's the main thing that gets my creative gears spinning -- but what happens when that "flaw" is simply a narrative not conforming to popular expectations?

some people just don't get PTSD from events that sound obviously traumatic. they're not masking, and they're not coping; they just straight-up didn't get the permanently-locked stress-response that defines PTSD. they walk away from a horrible experience going "well, that sucked, but it's over now." some people do get PTSD from events most people wouldn't find traumatic. we don't really know why some people get PTSD and others don't. but fandom has an idea of events that must be traumatizing, of a "correct" way to portray trauma. you see the problems with this lack of understanding in e.g. fans pressuring the devs of Baldur's Gate 3 to add dialogue where the player character badgers Halsin about his own feelings on his abuse -- because he must be traumatized, and his trauma must fit a certain mold and presentation of sexual trauma, under the mistaken impression that anything outside that narrow window is somehow "wrong" and disrespectful or even harmful to survivors.

take, for another example, the very common trope of a traumatized character who hates touch or sex "learning" to like touch or sex as a part of their healing process. certainly that can be healing for some people; other people will never like, or want, touch or sex, because of trauma or because they just don't. the assumption that someone who doesn't want sex or doesn't like to be touched must be traumatized, must be suffering from this perceived lack, is seriously harmful -- to asexual people, to people with sensory issues around touch, and to people for whom healing from trauma means freedom to refuse sex or touch.

and there's a secondary trope, one that's slightly more thoughtful but ultimately repeats the problem -- that once someone has learned that their boundaries will be respected, they'll feel it's safe to soften those boundaries. once they feel safe refusing touch or sex, they'll feel comfortable allowing it on their own terms. but many people don't, and many people won't! many people will simply never want to be touched, and never want sex, and they are not suffering or broken or lacking because of it. the idea that proving you'll respect someone's boundaries entitles you to test those boundaries -- the paradox is obvious, and yet this is something i've seen hurt (re-traumatize) people i care for.

people are imperfect victims. people don't heal in the ways you expect. many people have positive memories of their abuse, of their abusers. many people hurt others in the course of their trauma, in ways that can't easily be unpacked in a 5k oneshot. very few narratives of trauma and recovery actually fit the ones put forward by popular children's media and romance novels -- which are the ones I most see replicated in fandom spaces, because they provide the clearest narrative and easiest catharsis, and so they're easy and soothing to reach for.

that's not necessarily a bad thing! i am not immune to goopy romance tropes. i am not immune to teary catharsis. not every fic has to grapple with ugly realities. but there's a problem when these narratives become predominant, when people think they're accurate and realistic depictions of trauma, when the truth of trauma is unpleasant and uncomfortable, and doesn't fit any single narrative, let alone one of comforting catharsis

There's something so comforting about imagining yourself tiny. Being taken care of by people that you love and trust. Curling up in bed at night and imagining being curled up in their hand or on their chest.

Knowing that if you were as small as you wanted to be, they'd love you just as much as they do now. They'd cherish you just as much as they do now. They would take care of you, not because they have too, but because they want too.

All they want is the best for you, just like they do when you're normal sized.

Ghost is practically a fiend over tea, to the point where any other drink just disgusts him. So, when wintertime rolls around and TF141 is sipping on their hot chocolate, he can't help but feel a lil left out! So, the next best option? Tea. Peppermint tea. Where he stands idly in the doorframe, leaning against it with his mask pulled up just above his nose as he sips it. Pulled it back down his face as Soap cranes his neck to stare up at him with a scrunched up nose, “Hell are yu’ drinkin?” Ghost would tip his hand up just slightly, “Tea,” he paused, “Peppermint.” Only for Soap to furrow his brows and chortle, directing his gaze elsewhere with a smirk. “Smells like shit.” “Oh fuck off,” Ghost groaned, earning a low chuckle from Price and a smile from Gaz. — Simon also uses it as a way to introduce you to tea, since you weren’t as fond of it as him. You’d be finishing your mug of hot chocolate, setting it aside as the minty-peppermint smell invades your nose from beside you. You’d lean over, getting a better whiff of it as his eyes catch onto yours. “Y’wanna try it?” He murmurs, holding it out to you. Taking it from his grasp, you place it to your lips and take a small sip, savoring the bitter taste. You hand it back and hum, “S’okay.” You taking sips from his cup quickly turn to you brewing it in the morning for the two of you, attempting to make it quietly but always waking up your sleeping boyfriend because he doesn’t feel your warmth in his arms anymore :( It’s okay though because he always walks softly through the halls, following the hissing of the kettle and wrapping his arms around your torso, nuzzling his face into the side of your temple, pressing lazy kisses to it. He rasps out a ‘good morning’ into your ear, lightly leaning his body forward to get closer to you as he tries to fully wake up. And once he does, you can feel that little smile against your head and that little rumble in his chest as he chuckles. “Knew you’d like the tea, lovie..”
