About
An epic dark fantasy where fates are decided by mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a tragic warrior who swears revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that leaves naught but calamity in its wake.
The First Fully-fledged Action RPG in the Mainline Final Fantasy Series
An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
Titanic Clashes – When rival Dominants come head to head, epic battles between their Eikons ensue!
Eikonic Action – Clive utilizes the powers of multiple Eikons in breakneck battle!
From Strength to Strength
A plethora of powerful swordplay techniques and Eikonic abilities lie within Clive’s remit—and it is up to you to decide which ones you wish to learn or upgrade. If you’re having trouble choosing, upgrades can be unlocked automatically.
Story-focused mode is recommended for those players who are less comfortable with action games and wish to focus more on the game’s story elements. In this mode, Clive will automatically evade some attacks, and epic Eikonic combos can be triggered with simple button presses. Action-focused mode, where Clive’s every action is controlled by the player, is available for those who are confident in their skill—or want to test it.

For those who are having problems getting a playable FFXVI performance on Steam Deck/ getting pixellated cutscenes
Try setting your screen mode to Fullscreen (it doesn't affect how it runs in gaming mode), setting the graphics to Medium and disabling Super Resolution. Not only does it remove the pixellation, the cutscenes also become considerably less erratic than they are with it. Here's how it looks with the default settings:

VS how it looks with the changed settings:

There are a few other things that weirded me out from a graphics perspective, such as the DoF being applied very generously during the cutscenes, to a point of it blurring out certain characters, and occasional graininess (which is not unlike on the first "before" screenshot, but to a way lesser extent), but I don't know anything about how graphics settings work on PS5 and whether it is something also present there, or something unique to the PC version. Hope this helps those that are trying to play the game on Steam Deck or Linux as well.

On September 17, #FinalFantasy XVI, previously a PS5 exclusive, launched on PC, sparking a wave of modding activity.
However, producer #NaokiYoshida has a clear request for the modding community: keep it clean. When PC Gamer asked what mods he'd like to see, Yoshida avoided specifics but stressed that he didn't want inappropriate or offensive content. While he didn't clarify what crosses the line, the message is clear—mod responsibly.
Despite this, some modders will likely push boundaries, but they should remember Yoshida's request.
