Eli, 27, she/ her. I just came back to this blog after 3 years of silence and I'm not sure what to do with it.

DD2 screenshot dump because I won't be able to play for another week
Mostly silly/ weird moments that made me chuckle, with some portraits of pawns mixed in.
Another pic of Liz. I initially hated it, but now that I look at it graininess aside it's not as bad as I had thought.
Sesshomaru, Gandalf, Alistair and Melina pawns I've randomly met (the former in the Rift, while Melina for some reason keeps walking through my game despite only being level 2).
Elizabeth with the staff and robe she was always meant to wear.
... What exactly do they mean? (some screens cropped because it's not the time to unmask the Arisen yet)
(there is also another funny story associated with Annabel, but IDK if Tumblr wants to hear it)
Keltse continuing to be thirsty even though I've only talked to her, like, 2 times through the entire game.
Marius picking up his comrade Alfonse the Pawn while being 1/2 of his weight.
Speaking of Alfonse the Pawn... This man was a sassy bastard while he served me and I loved it. He may not have been the best healer, but his attitude was certainly more than memorable.
Marius's Sorcerer outfit:
Some screens in Eini's house because I loved the vibes
Ulrika looking with suspicion. For some reason I find her expression here funny.
I love their "too fed up with this shit" looks here.
More Liz screens:
@lesbianbreastmilk 's Colette:
@bardistraee 's Avraham:
Dyna the Rift Pawn:
Random Ulrika screen I did while starting to mess around with freecam.
Arisen x Ulrika - helmetless version. I liked her expression here better, but wasn't sure if I wanted people to know that I gave the same hairstyle to both my Arisen and my Pawn... Or to most of my premades in the CC demo, for that matter.

First dragon kill pic from yesterday. Huge thanks to one of my hired pawns and her broken Seeker's Token staff, which made it unnecessary for me to run around reviving her like the others.

#dragon's dogma 2#dd2#dd2 arisen#dd2 ulrika#dd2 screenshots#been messing around with emote dogma and she showed up at his house#so i thought why not try it out while i escort her#as always my graphics are potato which is why i use so much bloom#idk how to portray them as anything closer because it's all about creative ways to spam emotes and i'd probably have to take his helmet off

I hate this
I fought a dragon, killed several minotaurs and a chimera, and crossed a border to Battahl through the mountains just to collect 3 wakestone shards. Then when I returned to the morgue, the NPC was no longer there, and I don't remember when was the last time I rested at an inn so I can't go back T_T I thought bodies don't disappear from the morgue...
RIP Igon. I failed you.

I can't for the life of me understand why does my Pawn look so beautiful in CC, and so dead-eyed in the actual game. I know I am playing with potato graphics, but the difference is stark even after I tweaked her face once again.
This is how she looks in the CC:
And this is how she looks in the actual game:
It is sad, because she is my favorite party member, and yet out of everyone, her face card declines the most when in the actual game. I tried to take pictures of my hired pawns and NPCs, even unmasked my Arisen, none of them have the same level of discrepancy between CC face and in-game face. What am I doing wrong in the CC and what should I fix?

The Nameless
#dragon's dogma 2#dd2#dd2 arisen#dd2 screenshots#i just tested whether freecam works on linux and took this pic of him#was also listening to nameless song from dark souls and realized his helmet reminds me of the elite knight set#which is why I went for dimmer colors

The entire affinity mechanic becomes hilarious when your Arisen is a lanky, thin man who rarely takes his armor off and looks like he could be easily knocked over even while wearing it, rather than an attractive romantic hero one would expect to cause people such reaction. NPCs be thirsting... For a nondescript someone whose face they most likely haven't even seen.
#dragon's dogma 2#dd2#dd2 arisen#dd2 affinity#dd2 romance#i just accidentally maxed out affinity with lennart#and now the old man blushes at me as well#the other people being ulrika gregor and the old apothecary in vernworth

I feel like for all the talk about portrayals of toxic romantic relationships in stories, people don't talk about the portrayals of toxic non-romantic relationships (familial or otherwise) enough, even though those can potentially be just as damaging and difficult to leave.
It's always "toxic partners are romanticized", but never "survivors of toxic families or other environments are portrayed through extremely simplistic lens" even though most characters with abusive parents often fall into one of the two categories: those who either see through their family's BS (or will see it soon enough), are somehow good despite their parents being awful, end up easily cutting the toxic figures off through the Power of Friendship(tm) and suffering none of the effects of said abuse afterwards (something something perfect victim), and those who are alone, and in turn end up villainized and likely killed off. There is never a conversation about how difficult it is to leave such relationships both for financial reasons (in case of poverty and helicopter parents), or for emotional reasons (either because there is some lingering attachment despite the abuse, or because such upbringing tends to isolate a person and prevent them from building a support network in the first place, so even if one realizes the relationship is wrong, they have nowhere else to go because society sucks at supporting such people). Neither does it ever seem to affect the abused person's later relationships (unless they are a male lead in a trashy romance novel, in which case it is portrayed almost cartoonishly and used to justify them being an asshat who gets healed through the Power of Love (tm)) because a lot of writers' definition of people working through their issues is just confessing about it to their friends and being comforted in return. It's always just the squeaky clean "healing until they are all right with friends", even though growing up in such environments messes with one's head from childhood. There has been plenty of talk about how the Power of Love(tm) alone not being enough to change someone, so why are we accepting the same with the Power of Friendship(tm) in non-romantic scenarios? Yes, having connections with people can help someone leave an abusive environment and heal, and it is important to have a support system to break this cycle, but doesn't that mean that we should demand more nuanced portrayals of both, instead of praising one while deriding the other, regardless of the quality of writing actually put in?

I think Ulrika is trying to romance me, and I don't have enough RC on an Art of Metamorphosis (neither do I have any ideas on what I should remake my Arisen's face into) so I am screaming internally... I know the guy's helmet is getting yoinked off again.
