Continued from here:
As bad as Miles felt for the pain Gav was in, the particular curse the younger man spewed did gain a very soft chuckle from him as he pressed the folded cloth firmly against the nasty tear upon the blonde's right-side midriff. It was a curse he remembered hearing fondly many a time from his men during treatment of their injuries, and it was a curse he too had been guilty of hissing out more times than he wanted to admit. The cloth was all too quick to darken with red, as expected -- but with enough time and persistence with pressure, the blood should slow, at least enough that bandages could be applied until their pending return to Hideaway.
That the blow had been struck on the side of Gav's blind eye did not escape Miles's notice. But better to focus on tending to the physical wound first, then salve the one on the pride after. He kept his crouched stance steady for the other, offering support -- literal support, at that -- through a broad shoulder for Gav to stabilize himself using.
"Hmm. By the by, speaking of flames..." The older man mused while he worked, voice a quiet rumble as he did so, hoping to distract the other from the discomfort. "Did you know that in a pinch, and if devoid of medical supplies while in immediate need of care, one can use fire magic to cauterize a wound such as this one?" Though it may easily have been obscured by his posture and positioning, the ever-present furrow of his brow deepened all the more with careful concentration over Gav's body language, on the lookout for any sign of change in his overall condition. "By no means a long-term solution, no -- but offers enough time to reach a physicker."
The cloth was moved just slightly, enough to check on the status of the bleeding. So far, so good; the pressure seemed to have been enough. The sullied object was dropped off to the side for the moment, to be disposed of later. Next, he made a quick grab for the bandages that had been set down next to him at the start of this procedure. As he began measuring the strips for length according to the size of the injury, to avoid using too much or too little, the barest hint of a smile played at the corners of his lips.
"Leaves one hell of a scar, though."

Tagged by the lovely @keldae. (I didn't forget about this I swear…)
Thing of note, I am an unashamed Canon x OC/Reader fan soooo take that for what you will. lol
3 Ships
Joshua Rosfield/Suraya Murdoch (Final Fantasy 16) These two have lived rent-free in my head and my soul since Final Fantasy 16 game out. Still waiting for it to come to PC so I can actually play it but I digress. Hasn't stopped my brain from coming up with something. Somehow their story ended up being childhood friends to lovers to boot. Normally I go for an older man, younger woman vibe. But for these two? It's reversed and it's wild and I adore it. Joshua being the inheritor of the Rosarian Duchy and Suraya being the adopted daughter of Rodney and Hanna Murdoch. So, the two of them inadvertently got pushed together during the early years since her father wanted her to get the most out of her upbringing, self-defense being a top priority along with her studies. Suraya was and still is incredibly protective of Joshua's happiness and hated his mother with a burning passion for how she treated all of them, even to her own detriment. That said, Joshua formed feelings first when they were children, but never had a chance to speak of them before the fall of Phoenix Gate. So it was years before anything could happen. Suraya on the other hand, never had a chance to even think about it until they were reunited, and she had to come to terms with the fact that her ten-year-old friend was no longer a boy, but was actually a young man determined to bring her the happiness and joy she gave him, should she wish it.
Vergil/Alya (Devil May Cry) These two shitheads have also been living rent-free in my head since 2019 and have given me at least five different massive fanfic reworks since then. And it continues to morph and change so I just keep flipping my desk over at this point. Anyway, for these two it was never an overt thing. They pretty much fell together without ever explicitly talking about it as neither was looking for a relationship. Behind the scenes Dante was over Vergil's bullshit, Trish and Lady were over Alya's bullshit, and Nero was like: fuck that I'm not getting involved, and watched from the sidelines with Nico who had a betting pool that everyone was in on much to the pair's annoyance after the fact. Either way, Alya wanted answers after her father was murdered and Devil May Cry is who ended up coming to her aid. To that end, it opens up a massive can of demons and angels. But those angels aren't your traditional light and loving kind. Having the upbringing Vergil had, or lack thereof after his mother's death, he was always wary about opening up again, and in many ways still is, but Alya takes it in stride. And for that, Vergil is silently grateful. In turn, he is her protector and rock, and a good listening ear. What he can't say in verbal words, he will say in written poetry. This is more of my status quo, older man, younger woman vibe, but with the added bonus of magic, demons, and a slow-burn romance.
Graha Tia/Khulan Noykin (Final Fantasy 14) Listen, when I got into Final Fantasy 14 back during ARR, me and my Warrior of Light didn't think too much of the Allagan cat boy. He was a friend, nothing more to her at the time, and while she did mourn for him when he locked himself in the Crystal Tower, she also understood. Plus, she was dealing with her own feelings for a certain rogue bard soon-to-be gunbreaker. It wasn't until Shadowbringers that Graha Tia came in dropkicking Khulan in the face, and Thancred being a complete ass didn't help. Khulan during this time saw much of herself in Graha Tia's willingness to die for a cause and hated it. Not him of course, but seeing a mirror of some of your faults is never a fun thing. As their friendship developed after defeating Emet Selch, it eventually became a dance around the subject of feelings. Graha never feeling like he was good enough for her and Khulan feeling the exact same way but of herself towards him. Everyone else saw it as it was blatantly obvious, but the events of Endwalker came before anything could become of it. Khulan ends up in a dark place during this time, almost robotic like her ARR self, but a lot more deadly than her early days of being just an arcanist. It's when she begins losing her friends that the walls around her heart begin to break, and Graha's sacrifice was the breaking point. When all of it was over and they were back home, the two of them start to explore something more as Khulan recovered from her fight with Zenos. Now, going into the events of Dawntrail, me nor Khulan know where this is going to go. But hey! it's a new adventure!
First Ship
We're going back to when I was but a small eight/nine year old child and loved Ash and Misty as a pairing. During this time I didn't know what fandom was or that people wrote fanfic and created art. So it was mostly me creating terrible drawings. Did I self insert into pokemon as well? Of course I did! lol
Last Song
"The Phoenix" from Fall Out Boy. I just discovered it after find a GMV for Final Fantasy 16. It was so good I had to find it in my Apple Music and is now on repeat. I regret nothing regarding my hyperfixation.
Currently Reading
"A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas. Yes I'm late to the game, but hey! I made it! Am I only on chapter 3? Also yes, but hey, I'll get throgh it eventually.
Last Film
I think it was Mission Impossible 3? It was on at work so it was just background noise.
Currently Craving
A vacation. A true, real, good vacation. Tagging anyone who wants to do it

8 & 14
8. What makes you stray away from canon material and base your character, in case of canon muse, on your own headcanons?
A lack of detail, most of all. If canon gives me the barest bones of information to work with, I will run with that sliver of info, dive into Headcanon Land, and never look back.
Or canonical details that I feel don't line up well enough with other details established in the content(game, in this case), things that come across to me as contradictory, things that I don't personally feel comfortable with utilizing(especially when it comes to ages of characters), or information presented in the Ultimania that don't make sense with what we know from the game itself. Because for me, the game's lore takes precedence over an outside source like the Ultimania. (Though no shade to anyone who does choose to use its info.)
That and just... the general notion of adding a personalized touch to my blorbo, you know? I do try to use canon material as at the very least a basic foundation and build off of it, but sometimes there's not enough background information, so you just have to fill in all of the details yourself.
Especially when the character you're playing as dies within the first like fifteen to twenty minutes of the fucking game, and you learn more about him through other characters than through actually ever having gotten to know him through seeing him.
14. What is the most annoying fact or trait or fanon that is attached to your muse and bothers you?
I ... admittedly have no idea. I never kept up with fandom opinions outside of my little corner here on Tumblr. Like, I'm sure Twitter and Reddit and whatnot have A Lot to say regarding him as a person, regarding his parenting, regarding his rulership over Rosaria, etc.
There is one fact that bothers me, even though I can see where people get the idea from overall despite me disliking the theory. And that's the theory that Elwin and Hanna Murdoch were having an affair behind Anabella(and Rodney too I guess?)'s back.
I can, again, understand where the theory comes from, despite heavily hating it. I don't hate it purely because of my personal feelings towards adultery; I just don't see it as a proven fact. The absence of evidence does not make evidence. We don't see enough of Elwin and Anabella on a personal, more intimate level to know what their relationship was like behind closed doors. We know Anabella was pissed at Elwin, yeah -- but again, in my personal opinion, her grievances sounded more directed at his method of and priority while ruling(putting the people first, and their territory/land second), and the decisions he made combined with his ambitions for the duchy's future. Her remarks in her Inner Thoughts thing are surprisingly neutral, with statements like, "My husband, for better or worse" and ... I forgot what exactly the one with Phoenix Gate was, but it read to me like, "Nothing personal, kid".
We also know that Elwin is very big on being an honorable, just, compassionate, and duty-driven man, and I personally doubt that excludes in his personal/familial life.
Again, these are all my personal views and interpretations.
Even the fact that Hanna still had Elwin's old outfit and whatnot doesn't automatically spell "cheating" to me, considering the home is the Murdoch's home, and Elwin and his family visited Eastpool to spend time with the Murdochs there every summer, where the description says Elwin left the clothes there to wear every time he returned to Eastpool on vacation. It screams of sentimentality to me, of the same intense grief and not wanting to move on that Hanna also shows towards Rodney. She still wears her wedding band, even nervously fidgets with it when she talks about Rodney having died at Phoenix Gate. The fact that she never moved away from Eastpool to seek refuge in Rosalith, didn't even move out of the Murdoch's home... The fact that she was selling other items from the house and family to take care of the people of Eastpool and the displaced Bearers, but never sold her wedding band, Elwin's clothes(including the Metian Bonds, which were forged for Elwin by his dad when Elwin came of age, as was tradition. They probably would have sold for a pretty penny.), or Invictus -- which was Rodney's sword.
She held on to these specific items that had been important to the two men, in my belief because of the strong emotional attachment she has to those items -- because those items are the only things she has left of Rodney and Elwin.
Oh god I rambled I AM SO SORRY.

The candles illuminating the war room's interior had burned low by the late hour. The congregation of soldiers and advisors had dwindled, with all that remained still gathered around the lengthy table being the Archduke himself, the Lord Commander, an advisor, and three of their most trusted Shields. Everyone else had finally retired for the night when it became clear that no further progress would be made regarding a course of action.
Elwin leaned forward, gloved hands planted firm at the edge of the table, just beneath the bottom of the map of the Twins. He peered with such intense focus on the intricately etched landmarks and borders, first tracing over possible routes with his gaze alone. Lips pursed into a tight line.
When the man did speak next, there was a slow carefulness behind each word; his right hand relinquished its hold, and its index finger lightly pressed against the worn parchment object, indicating a specific spot on the outskirts of the duchy's northwestern borders.
"If we place a line of defense from here --" The finger moved along to the east, and when it stopped next, it tapped a new spot this time. "--to here, perhaps that will deter them from venturing across our borders."
Rodney Murdoch, folding his arms across his chest, eased himself away and around, back to the scene for but a moment. Slowly, he began to pace around the room, and the Lord Commander's expression was nothing if not concerned. "We lack the manpower right now to make a convincing show," the stocky blonde cautioned.
Elwin's expression twisted briefly into a scowl at the circumstances of their predicament. He cursed under his breath.
The royal advisor shifted away from the table, his dark eyes fixed upon their ruler. "... What about wresting control of Drake's Breath from the Ironbloods? A victory over there might make King Warrick think twice about making a move, at least for this moment."
"Our resources, including our men, are already stretched thin as it is. Risking a fight on three fronts would be akin to suicide."
"Lord Commander Murdoch is right." Loathe though Elwin was to admit that they were in a bind. For the sake of their alliance with the Dhalmekian Republic, Kanver needed to remain their central focus, in terms of allocating resources. But they didn't dare leave their home open in the process, not while reports turned back that the peoples of the North were on the move towards Rosarian soil -- which, given the state of the realm and Rosaria's preoccupation with the conflict for Kanver's independence, it hardly came as a surprise. The more ground the North lost, the more energetic they seemed to become, and calming their ire would be no small feat.
Would that there was a way to do it that prevented any casualties. But the best that the reigning monarch could do was seek means to lessen the destruction on both sides.
His hand withdrew from the map, raising to his stubbled chin to rest against it. He stared long and hard down at the representation of central Valisthea. "We take the initiative. Leave a contingent of our finest here to guard Rosalith, and the rest of us will head northward to drive the king's men back. I will lead the campaign -- Anabella can easily oversee things here in my absence. I trust her judgment."
Rodney's brows raised in blatant surprise. "To war, then?"
"You know I do not make this decision lightly, my friend."
Now it was the advisor's turn to interject. "But what about the rites at Phoenix Gate, Your Grace? Surely you cannot expect to proceed without the proper guidance?"
The Bastion of Tradition. Oh, how Rosaria lived up to her title. Traditions bound them, and it was traditions that both shaped and guided much of their lives. But tradition would not help them now, not when their current Dominant of Phoenix was naught but a few summers old. His brow furrowed deeply, but he mustered up a smile. "We'll be fine on our own. We have already faced seemingly insurmountable odds before, what is another round of excitement to put a few more grey hairs on our heads?"
"Elwin, think about it," his friend and second-in-command cautioned with a shake of his head. "Those "insurmountable odds" were overcome because of the Phoenix's intervention. We don't have --"
"I know." The Archduke's smile lessened until it was a hollow shell of the attempt at lightheartedness. "I know that I ask much of all of you. Fighting in a war, unaided... But we have no choice. If we do nothing, we risk an invasion. They are in a frenzy; their lands are dying more and more with each passing day. Their resources are doubtless sparse, their Dominant has yet to emerge again as far as any of us know. If we were in their position, would we not also do what we must in the name of survival? To ensure that our loved ones see another tomorrow?"
The silence that settled across the chamber spoke clearly enough to answer him. He straightened fully upright. One last time, his hand lowered towards the map, and his index finger was placed upon the symbol representing Rosalith, leather creaking ever so quietly with the pressure. "But we also must do what we must in the name of survival. We push them back as far as we're able to on our northern march -- show them the strength of Rosaria's spirit, that we do not need a Dominant to be formidable. And when we reach their capital city, I will speak with Geir regarding terms of peace, that we might spare both of our peoples this unnecessary war."
