/ spoilers and thoughts for luke's 4th bday card, SSR Journey Beyond + some deranged theorizing

i really liked this card story!! it was a refreshing novelty from most of the other luke SSRs released this year which tended to err on the side of "sickeningly sweet and romantic but not really telling much of a story" because this card story was different, it actually had a PLOT. WITH STAKES. WITH A BIG BAD VILLAIN FROM 2 YEARS AGO (SSR Dark Swirl) WANTING TO TAKE REVENGE ON AGENT RAVEN. i was very hooked, i found the entire conflict between Bright and Luke (and Rosa) interesting and entertaining, this story actually had me invested in what would happen next (which i havent felt for a while, with recent luke cards). i found that the flashbacks to the past were very valuable too, and my heart all but broke upon learning how Luke and Rosa missed each other all those years ago because they were BOTH yearning idiots who went to visit the other in their respective cities. IDIOTS. THEY DESERVE EACH OTHER.

all that said though, the thing from this card that ended up sticking in my mind the most though was the memory Professor Carlson shared where Luke told him he was giving up his studies and his position in Professor's Carlson's research group to join the NSB

i talked about this with Chika @khickuwa last night and we both agree that Luke's sudden desire to join the NSB looked like it came out of nowhere. of course, we know the backstory that he crossed paths with the NSB due to that transnational case that he got caught up in, but like thats one thing to be Aware of them. it's a completely other thing for Luke to sound so genuinely excited to join the NSB, to say that it's his dream, to sacrifice his prestigious position at the research group, to give up his studies in a field of study he'd excelled in for years. thats....a lot to sacrifice. why would he do this?

this card makes me desperately want more lore about the specificities of that transnational case Luke got caught up in, it makes me want to see the exact scene where the NSB interacted with Luke because like

holy shit, what did the NSB say or offer to Luke to make Luke literally shift gears on his entire life so definitively? did they appeal to Luke's deep seated sense of heroism, is that all it took? possibly, but if im to put on my Theory Goggles for a moment, this all gives me the feeling that like...the NSB wanted Luke specifically.

when the NSB found Luke, he was nothing but a particularly bright college student, but thats nothing out of the ordinary, there are tons of bright college students out there. so why did they extend recruitment to Luke specifically? perhaps because the circumstances of the death of Luke's parents has more to it than meets the eye, perhaps they were connected to something the NSB was investigating. i dont have any theories for what exactly they got caught up in, but i do know that if like....if the NSB had information on the death of Luke's parents...

that sure as hell would be one damn good hook and bait for Luke to bite onto

while this is all just a theory, it's somewhat supported by an AU card, SSR Dreamlike Drama. in that story, Luke's parents were killed and he spent his life tracking down the perpetrators so he could enact revenge. as much as Luke in the present likes to say that hes Over It, he still misses and loves his parents (as is evidenced greatly in SSR Burning Reminiscence) and them being a trigger for him to change the trajectory of his life is still within the realm of possibility

this whole post is all over the place but my general conclusion is that like......Luke's life is so much more complicated than it originally appears. whether it's his later ties to the NXX substance due to his condition, or the possibility that his parents were connected to it when he was still a small child, it's like....i enjoy thinking about AUs where Luke lives a normal life, but man, it seems like he's almost destined to end up in this web no matter what he does.

so this is happening.

for those who are not argentinian and lack context, mafalda is a comic strip from the sixties similar to peanuts, if peanuts was, let say, a hundred and sixty seven times more overtly political. its an absolute classic here and a staple of everyone's childhoods.

and its getting an animated adaptation in netflix. i will proceed now to explain all the reasons why this is a terrible idea: (most of these reasons will be either a) it will never do justice to the experience i had as a kid reading the comic and b) i dont trust the argentinian animation industry to do a good job with it)

first of all, and the author agrees with me on this one, mafalda cannot be voiced. she has the voice of whoever reads her in their mind. if she were to be given the voice of a specific 6 year old girl that would no longer be mafalda

second, mafalda is too of her time, she is a girl from the 60's, growing up in the specific political context of the 60's. but noone will have the balls to actually set her show in the 60's because current generations of children "would not find it reletable" or some other such bullshit. we will see mafalda with a smartphone and im going to kill myself when that happens

third, i have to keep on stressing about the politics of mafalda, she was contantly talking about communism vs capitalism, about cuba and fidel castro, about the pope, about the vietnam war, about the economy, about poverty, about goberment corruption, about nuclear war. again i dont see any studio with the spine or the guts or the most basic piece of human rectitude to actually touch on those topics the way they deserve

fourth, it will not be animated properly. mafalda was strictly a black and white comic, it was never colored, so the jump to color is going to be jarring. on top of that quino's line art was very characteristic and an integral part of the comic style, that wont translate either. but most important of all, from what we can see of that teaser, it looks like they are going to do it in cel shaded 3D. which is just. no. absolutely not. it kills the entire spirit of the original comic. is going to look like shit. in the last couple of years animation studios have pushed cel shaded 3d anmation to its limits, giving us masterpieces like spiderverse or the puss in boots and even the latest fairy odd parents show. argentinian animation is not there yet. is not even close. we are not getting that. we are getting the cheap ass, ugly ass, basic bitch 3d cel shaded of a shovelware anime pushed out by some third rate anime studio.

i just dont see any way this can be good. its going to suck and the world will be a worse place for it.

I WANNA TALK BUT I DONT WANNA SPOIL FOR ANYONE !!! THIS IS UR WARNING SONIC SPOILERS LOOK AWAY ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ ok literally one of the biggest takeaways from this movie that has been on my brain since seeing it is the dynamic between shadow and maria. i LOVE the time and scenes they dedicated to building that foundation for shadows storyline, and the montage of shadow and maria living on the ark actually killed me. like HES A BABY!!! which btw is evident when the general yells out that's THEY are just kids before open fire starts.... ugh i get so maternal over movie sonic & shadow specifically like those are my sons!!! leave them alone!!! OH and when maria teaches him how to dance omfg i got so emotional like he's so little and looks at maria so dearly it was genuinely the dynamic we deserved to see on screen I ADORE IT. i need to go see it again cause i still haven't fully absorbed it but like that was definitely my favourite part of the entire thing

i was worried that it was going to feel rushed in places because trying to establish a deep backstory in just 2 hours is hard but how it was done was just really good. those flashbacks just had my heart so darn much :( </3

AI isnt ingerently bad in and of itself, all it is is machine learning systems which can be applied to ethical sources and used for all kinds of things. The problems are specifically that they are 1) often used currently as smoke and mirrors for theft in cases like the text and art generators. if you train an AI on sources you dont inform of this and compensate properly, it is simply theft put through a blender to hide it; 2) it is being used to replace jobs of people in an era where jobs are still necessary to survive. Duolingo for instance fired most of their translator staff, and translation is increasingly a job being replaced by AI. Those Translators affected deserve a safety net for the collapse of their industry. This is also true of a lot of the non-text-and-art AIs, where they replaced jobs which used to exist...but its starting to become a more significant problem now; 3) It can lie and quite often businesses are propping it up as a source of accurate information. Theres been a number of mushroom identification platforms which have been using AI and making up shit, which could easily get someone killed. AI should be illegal for use such as that outright; 4) It can retain and amplify biases of the people it is trained on. I'm sure we've all seen the video where the guy asks an AI to create images of autistic children, and how it produced a bunch of sad white boys. Some AI companies are trying to fix this by throwing in "diverse" as a keyword for the AIs, so they dont do that, but thats really just a band-aid. Even looking at AI training in Videogames, lets say they use it to animate a walk cycle for a gay character, and they logged mo-cap videos of several actors who they told to walk like a gay character. It might end up showing those characters walking like a stereotype. The AI model needs some built-in way to recognize biases and counter them intelligently, and I'm not enough of a programmer to figure out exactly how--honestly, this isnt even a fatal flaw, I'd say this is just one we need to be aware of and improve the technology with it in mind.

Like. There's plenty of uses of AI which are good. Its just that there's flaws which, in the current model, are being brought to light by the way people are using this new technology. If we put in some regulations to protect jobs and eliminatetheft and misinformation, and refine the technology further, I do believe we can find a way to integrate AI into life in a way that is ethical and helpful. For instance, as a cartoonist, I hate drawing backgrounds: if I could draw a handful of backgrounds in my style and train an AI on it, then use it for backgrounds I dont care much about (and edit them so that they fit a little better) I think thats fine. There's no theft, there's no misinformation, I wouldnt be hiring a background artist since I'm poor anyways so its not a job loss, and if any biases do show up I'm at least there to filter them. There ARE ethical uses, we just have to start approaching this issue with nuance in order to divide the ethical from the unethical.

i looked up rui ninomiya to see how old they are bc i didnt remember and i found someone ranking his fun little outfits while also talking abt his story, but also coming in very hard right from the start of the post with “this show is generic and full of shitty tropes and i dont give a shit about any of the main characters other than rui” so i knew i wasnt rewlly going to see eye to eye with them but i scanned thru the post anyway and. I think I might have literally JUST watched the scene they’re talking about here and. I’m not sure if this is really. The best way to look at this scene. The way it goes is basically like

guy who works for rui: Hey, me and my buds are thinking we want to get public credit and acclaim for the work we do helping people. I want to be a hero and get put in the spotlight. Also, I think we should be allowed to judge which people are evil and deserve to die and then kill them.

I won’t say that rui’s outlook of “I’ll change the world by getting everyone to work together and help each other and then we’ll all be equal” isn’t, realistically, A Bit Simplistic, & the idea of “changing the world” presented IS a bit nebulous. One of the things the guy they’re talking to is saying is basically “you can’t really change the world JUST by saving lives and getting people to help each other you also have to remove evil people in power” and That’s Definitely Fair. The argument in the show is somewhat idealized and oversimplified. But also this seems like just…….. A very misleading way to frame it. This person seems to be seeing gcrowds as largely about the technology and what is or is not ethical to do with it and I can’t really discount that because i AM less than halfway through a show I haven’t seen in years and don’t really remember. BUT. BUT. As of halfway through the show - and from what I DO remember - I don’t think the technology has at all the thematic importance or meaning they are giving it? It feels very much about what Rui says here, what they’re trying to do: “instead of putting specific people on pedestals as The People Who Help And Do Good Stuff, we should all be on the same level, work together, and mutually help each other”. The technology more just happens to be there, and is there as part of THAT concept, it’s not “is it ethical to give people power though technology” or whatever this person thinks.

also very proud of the fact that i was able to clock that he was vecna before the actual reveal, both because of his eyes- bright, unnaturally blue, and because of the way he killed the kids. doesn't matter in the slightest but i felt smart for a few minutes so

but maybe most importantly, the scene where el creates the first gate in order to,,, banish? 001 raises SO many questions. dustin's initial thought as to how vecna fit in with the mindflayer was that he was some sort of five star general, as opposed to the demogorgons being foot soldiers. but considering that vecna/henry/001 seems to be the first thing in the upside down, does that mean that it's kind of the other way around? i feel like vecna has somehow created the mindflayer/demogorgons/demodogs, but now the question is how. i mean, he's been creating the gates by killing people through psychic whatever it's called, but how does that translate into the other creatures? is there another party on hand, one that we don't know about yet? is that how season 5 is going to wrap up the show, with the characters and us gaining a full understanding of the creation of the upside down?

god, i love this show so much. they've done an absolutely INCREDIBLE job this season, i'm in absolute shock. i cannot wait for part two, im going to SCREAM and immediately drop EVERYTHING the day it comes out.

oh you dont know the floodgates you just opened

a few things:

1. despite not liking the creators of the dsmp anymore, I don't actually hate most of them. [the ones that are particularly unsavory fall outside of this of course] so all that I'm saying i truly mean in a critical sense towards the story, its also just all purely my opinion as someone who enjoys fictional and fantasy stories and who like criticizing works to see what it does well and what it doesn't do well

2. for clarification I'm going to use the c![name] to indicate when I'm talking about the characters. Don't get me wrong, I think its annoying too but its the only way I'm gonna be able to write this thing without getting something across the wrong way yknow?

3. I stopped watching the streams after November 16th, [save for one Techno one but I closed out after a particularly bad story beat lol] and so all information coming afterward is all second hand from either me seeing people on twt talk abt it or people dming me. All i really know is up to dream's imprisonment and some stuff past that.

4. This is mostly aimed towards the "main" story, so stuff abt the badlands, eggpire, and whatnot are briefly mentioned.

anyways uh, i'll try to be brief but also include enough information to get why i feel the way i do on some stuff across

A. Performances Alright obviously these people are all streamers, so obviously they might not be the best actors, and hell no one is even asking that of them. However, when you're telling a story that's based on the audio with the visuals kinda coming to a second, it's gotta be pretty strong. I will say, some of the best actors in my opinion are Wilbur, Tommy, and Tubbo. I would include Ranboo but I never watched any of his story bits or story streams so I can't say much. Wilbur and Tommy are excellent in selling their character's emotions and feelings, when I watch the stream I don't feel like I'm watching an rp but an actual thought-out story yknow? And one of my favorite Tubbo examples was in the Hog Hunt video whenever Techno attacked him, he sounded genuinely afraid and I believed everything his character was feeling.

However, unfortunately, not everyone is gonna be that good. And I'm gonna say it; Dream and Techno have to be the worst out of the entire cast. I understand Techno's whole character is this monotoned badass, however, when really emotional moments hit I feel like he never lets that fall, and a lot of intense moments just ring hollow. And I'm sorry but Dream's attempts at being intimidating leave me laughing whenever I watch them. It feels like he watched that one scene from The Marriage with Adam Driver and Scarlett Johannson and said "Oh this is what good acting looks like! Just yelling." His whole "I don't give a FUCK about Spirit!" speech isn't as great as people keep making it out to be. And whenever he tries to act coy when being a villain it feels like a guy reading the script for the first time, a bit like he's trying too hard. I have more problems with his character but his portrayal certainly doesn't help.

Everyone else is fine, and I don't feel strongly either way about a lot of them.

B. The "Lore" Okay first off, I can't be the only one who thinks it's silly that people are calling the dsmp's story "lore" when it's not, it's the fucking story. Lore indicates backstory to either the world or the characters, which a lot of the streams don't really pertain to. This is a really petty section but god it's a weird pet peeve of mine.

Other than the misusage of "lore" vs "story", the actual lore and world-building of the world are so lackluster that new elements can be introduced whenever and it often feels cluttered or not well thought out at all. And here's the thing, I feel like if the writers sat down just for a few minutes to establish world rules and general history, a lot of this could be solved! but so much is made up on the spot that it starts to feel like they're grabbing at straws to keep people invested, trying to reach that next high and intense story beat without actually earning it.

C. The Egg / Eggpire This is a pretty minor note since I was only invested in the Egg storyline for a little bit, but god it's so underused that it's almost embarrassing. Bad has provided this super interesting antagonistic force that's infecting the SMP, can control people, and who one of our main character is immune to, and it's just never used or even talked about again? Now I understand if he wanted to keep it to a side storyline only, however, to introduce this borderline eldritch creature and force within the world and then never have it dealt with is so weird.

D. The Writing Oh boy this is. kinda a big one. Now I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty obvious I have a bias for the Wilbur writing over the current team [that consisting of Dream, Quackity, and Tommy mostly]. I don't this his writing is perfect by any means, the characters constantly bringing up traitors got obnoxious after a while, and writing Hamilton but in Minecraft really isn't the modern Shakespeare or anything. However, I think his exploration of characters and plot progression was a lot more thought out and well planned, like he actually had two brain cells behind the story yknow? The current team I think fails to be as emotional or even impactful, things happened too fast and my god was everything drowned in angst for so long.

Don't get me wrong, you gotta have your characters face hardships to make them reach their goal believable, but some of the shit they put the characters through just felt like too much. From c!Tubbo's constant comparison to c!Schlatt [who btw, fucking ordered his death and kept him from his friends in a nation he felt trapped in] and on a side note, i kinda really fucking dislike the "c!Schlatt dad!!" au's or the au's where c!Tubbo inherits some of Schlatt's features, it would be like c!Tommy getting a c!Dream mask after his exile, it's feels so weird yet people eat that shit up for some reason.

But god, did c!Tommy get the brunt of it all and in retrospect after his final death, it kinda feels really fucking gross. Now obviously, I'm not trusting any of these people to write decent mental health representation, but c!Tommy's PTSD and how it was explored was just degrading. [Specifically the scene in that one Techno stream where he saw the final control room from the first war, and had a flashback / panic attack where he started calling out for c!Dream. I understand this is an actual thing people with PTSD will experience, but it felt so fucking stereotypical it got on my nerves. I actually had to close out of the stream because it made me feel sick, fiction shouldn't leave you feeling that way.] And don't get me started on how they basically reused the formula from the previous arc. [Problem introduced -> Tensions rise as things start to fall apart -> Big confrontation -> Exile -> Return from Exile -> Blowing up L'Manberg, again.]

And speaking of characters-

E. Character Arcs, or the lack of them In my genuine opinion, some of these characters' arcs are so disappointing. Especially c!Tommy's. I'm not one to believe that he was a "selfish" character or anything, however, his goals were simply set on his discs and maybe c!Tubbo, he didn't have much outside that. However, L'Manberg gave him something to care about, he gave up his discs for it and he fought for it tooth and nail, I think it taught him to open up to others and trust more. It was a great character arc for him to have, seeing him still fight even after his first exile alongside c!Wilbur, to return safely to the nation that he and his found family had built.

But then his second exile happened, and I feel like all of that was undone.

c!Tommy's exile genuinely pisses me off for so many reasons. It's not that characters can't have their low points after reaching a major change or feeling like they've "completed" their arcs or anything, but it's more of the fact that it seems like he's never going to heal that feels like a spit in the face, especially to people who might have had setbacks like that before. Progress isn't linear, sometimes things happen and you get knocked back down, it can take a while to get back up, but I don't think c!Tommy's character is ever going to be allowed to get back up. From c!Dream, who pretty much was a constant abuser in his life, killing him then reviving him, and his still fractured relationship with c!Tubbo, which by the way I have a had time believing they would still be friends after all that happened, it feels like he can never get a win and it's generally kinda a shit way to treat your characters who have been abused. Of course, not all abused characters are going to get happy endings, I'm not trying to dictate that they all should, but c!Tommy deserves one and the fact that it's so obscure feels shitty.

Side note: we still don't have a canon reason to give a shit abt the discs. Like I'm sorry but without some sorta connection to the MacGuffin why should we give a shit about him getting them other than "he wants them lol". Like hell, I would even accept the classic "they were the last gifts from his parents" or something, but we still don't have a reason.

c!Tubbo also lacks a fulfilling arc as well, from someone who started out as a yes man, he has progressed a bit into having his own interests first, but besides that sometimes his character makes me so. depressed. He's easily one of the most pushed around and hated characters within the story, all for being a kid who didn't know what to do and he's in the same vein as c!Tommy; these kids can't get a break. Also, his anti-violence beliefs morphing into the "lets kill c!Techno lol!" bit was so out of place and without proper build-up it was like. what. And now he's building nukes?? god c!Tubbo makes me so sad because he's kicked around constantly and never given a chance to grow.

Another small note, I also don't really enjoy c!Techno at all. Besides the previously stated reasons of lack of emotions when they're really needed, I find his character to be weirdly pretentious. He talks as if he's constantly been betrayed and hurt but I personally, don't see it? Like, I think one of the main examples was the Pogtopia vs. Manberg war, yknow he wanted to end the government but they just reinstated it after they won = c!Techno upset. But this doesn't make sense to me because why did he think otherwise? The entire time c!Tommy had talked about taking back their nation and starting again, so the fact that c!Techno suddenly thought there would be a sudden change is, to put it bluntly, kinda fucking stupid. I don't want to say that he "plays the victim" or anything because that feels a bit harsh, but his character feels so far up his own ass that I can't enjoy him.

I have a major grip with c!Dream as well, but that's getting it's own fucking section.

F. L'Manberg This is a quick note before we get into the, forgive me for this, endgame, of this entire rant, since the next two sections are tied together. But god, L'Manberg makes me upset because it feels like they gave up on it.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that it is supposed to be c!Wilbur's "unfinished symphony", the thing that destroyed a once charismatic and widely loved man, his attempt at power that utterly ruined him. But the fact that it just got blown up in the end after everything and left to rot felt like such a waste of time. From the first war, to Pogtopia, to even c!Tommy's exile, it all felt fucking worthless in the end, and the story is actively closer to how it was when it started now more than ever. I wished it was actually allowed to exist and continue to be a peaceful place in what is a chaotic world, but no it was just snuffed out because why dedicate to this concept of finding others you can band together with and feel safe. fuck that noise apparently?

G. The Villains Now villain-wise, I'm only talking about c!Dream [during the first war], c!Schlatt, and c!Wilbur. And believe it or not, this is actually mostly positive.

Now I'm not gonna lie, c!Dream as a staring antagonist wasn't bad actually, he posed a genuine and threatening opposition to L'Manberg, even if we didn't know his real intentions or motivations as to why he was against it. He's lucky in this sense because he didn't have to be good, he had to be passable. If anything, he felt more like an anti-hero than a tyrant or traditional villain, and my god do I wish he kept this theme going forward.

Now quick disclaimer, I don't like JSchlatt as much as the next guy, he's an adult man who should know better than to joke about some sensitive topics and act the way that he does. But the one thing I'll ever give him is that damn, was he a good actor for his character.

Now here's the thing, c!Schlatt wasn't particularly deep at all. He had no real motivations behind his exile of c!Wilbur and c!Tommy other than getting competition out of the way, had no reason to act the way that he did and yknow? that's fine. The reason why he worked was from his performance alone, he was actually intimidating. When he came onto the stream and was doing his typical bad guy stuff, it was actually intense to see what he would do. Whenever he would almost catch c!Tommy back in Manberg, whenever he would begin to pressure c!Tubbo, it put you on the edge of your seat and it felt like everything would change at the drop of a pen. He's a villain to be a villain, and this works out because he's just charismatic and well put together enough to make it interesting, even without the backstory or motives.

c!Wilbur however, is much more tragic, and the best villain of the story. He essentially was the "mentor turned evil" trope and it felt terrible watching him descend into madness, unable to trust barely anyone except for c!Techno and c!Tommy. Hell, in the end I think he still cared about them both, despite losing everything. Sure, he blew up L'Manberg, but there was still a smidge of the old c!Wilbur in there made everything he did feel melancholic. His death at the hands of his father after achieving his final wish was chilling, and something I still think about.

Until yknow, Ghostbur came back way too soon to let people feel his loss as a character within that world. And then he got revived, pretty much-undoing everything that moment meant for his character lol.

And then there's the worst one:

H. Dream. I'm going to be completely honest, c!Dream is one of the main reasons why I dislike the current dsmp stuff so much. Outside of his actions as a person, the way Dream decided to write his character as this overpowered madman of the dsmp really just. destroyed any intrigue that he could've had. Perhaps this is from my growing dislike towards him, manifesting into a bias towards his character, but god I cannot fathom why people try to insist he's interesting when he has as much depth as a fucking puddle.

And here's the thing, I'm not even entirely against c!Dream being a villain, hell I think he would've been great as an anti-hero if anything. Make him sympathetic but not through c!George to get your precious "DNF" points or anything, but show him actually caring about the people within the dsmp, including c!Tommy and c!Tubbo. This would make his rival status with them just a bit more complicated, sure they're enemies, however, he doesn't want to hurt or kill them, and there's still a level of friendship there that keeps them bonded when things get super bad. This could've been super interesting to see, the first villain of the story receiving a sorta redemption arc then descending into madness as he started to fixate on being a god. This is all how I feel personally, but god do I feel like it would've been better than his current character, and hell would've worked with how he was during the Pogtopia arc, before the war that is. I'm not trying to tell Dream how to write his own character, but there are so many other ways he could've done the madman seeking to become god rather then. whatever the hell we got.

Because instead, we got this power-mad asshole who does things... because he can? And that's one of my major issues: he tries to surround his character in mystery to make him "intriguing" but it's kinda like c!Techno, it comes off as pretentious. Not only that, but you cannot keep waving around this mystery of a backstory without ever actually revealing it. I know the story isn't over, but c!Dream is effectively at his lowest point, now would be the time to reveal his backstory. But no just keep it in the dark and keep everyone guessing, that's totally fun and not at all tiring and annoying. (sarcasm, if anyone needs it)

And back to his performance, he doesn't sell this aloof, cynical and strategic warrior that has perfected the blade or some shit, he comes off as some angry guy yelling on reddit. which i don't need to tell you, isn't intimidating. It feels like he's trying to have c!Schlatt's intimidation combined with c!Wilbur's depth, but instead he's like a little brother who's trying to hard to mimic his older brother and is kinda embarrassing himself.

but other then that i dont feel too strongly abt the dsmp lol

so in the beginning sam still turns down the shield. he doesnt want to be captain america. we dont super get into why at first. he wants to spend time with his family and catch up on the five years of life he's missed

then one day bucky shows up and is like "hey dude i need to lay low with you, im totally being hunted by kraven the hunter"

sam is like. okay. wack. but takes bucky in. definitely lean into the sarcastic rude bucky energy and just them being kind of frustrated with each other, but like in a funny buddy cop way. like just them arguing at the grocery store and stuff like that (potential scene that might be too comedic of a dude whos possibly kraven also shopping at the whole foods and recognizing sam and doing a whole monologue about arctic wolves because they have those wolf tie die shirts there. you know the ones. basically re-establishing bucky as the white wolf, that this is the reason kraven wants him, since kraven's whole thing is big game hunting/trophy hunting people)

over the course of the episode, bucky gets like ... triggered by stuff? not in the panic attack/flashback way but like. hes SO high key and just generally paranoid and snappy and maybe even fearful. and sam kind of realizes like. oh. bucky being rude and sarcastic and even playful at times is actually a front for this dude being totally not okay

then the fbi show up at sam's house and are like. yeah so bucky has been skipping his therapy we have to take him in

lean into the bucky paranoia a bit with the I CANT STAY IN ONE PLACE KRAVEN WILL GET ME/HURT OTHER PEOPLE and sam is like. hey bud. this is ptsd and you do actually super need therapy (because like ??? sam was a peer counselor / peer leader or whatever his title was at the VA like sam's whole thing is guiding people through trauma, specifically combat trauma)

bucky is still too amped up to listen really but WUH WOH kraven the hunter actually DOES FULLY SHOW UP TO GET BUCKY but he ends up fighting with the fbi which gives sam and bucky just enough time to get his family somewhere safe and then go on the run

for a few episodes do the roadtrip/buddy cop thing. multiple funny scenes of, no matter where they go, there's someone the winter soldier fucked up so like they go to a cafe and the waiter comes over and they just. stare at each other. and bucky is like. uh hey. listen,, (and makes sam leave a huge tip)

also all of the 'big locations' where bucky is like "okay no we're definitely going to be safe HERE we just need to get HERE" but every time right when theyre about to show up, shit goes down there that makes it dangerous/unstable and they have to go somewhere else

i think you can definitely still talk about racism in this show but from the lens of like. kraven seeing people as subhuman and hunting people and treating them like objects and trophies. and then we also get sam's side of the captain america thing which is like. this commodification of personhood?? like he didnt want to be cap because cap is an IMAGE and a SYMBOL and not a PERSON and he really just wants to be sam. and bucky is kind of confused by that because to him steve was just always steve and captain america was just a tack on

anyway in the midpoint of the show or thereabouts bucky actually does like. either get captured or cornered or something by kraven, and kraven VERY OBVIOUSLY could have killed him but. doesnt. and maybe he just "misses" a shot or he even lets bucky go. so bucky is like, okay what the FUCK does that mean. because isnt the whole thing that he wants bucky?? the white wolf?

probably drop some more hints leading up to this, but they sort of realize like. "bucky isnt the trophy - he's the flushing dog". kraven doesnt ACTUALLY WANT BUCKY. he's basically forcing bucky on the run so that bucky can lead him to his actual prey ...

this whole time sam is the one protecting people, extending compassion, extending care, leading, strategizing, etc

and through this, and through conversations with bucky and other characters, he comes to realize that captain america never represented a government or anything like that, he represented STEVE'S IDEALS and the things STEVE BELIEVED IN AND VALUED, and that if SAM was captain america, it would be SAM'S CAPTAIN AMERICA that represented HIS beliefs and values and ideals, and that HIM BEING CAPTAIN AMERICA DOESNT MEAN HE ISNT BEING HIMSELF

bucky either gets captured again or gets into a big fight with kraven by himself and like. gets the shit kicked out of him basically. but his kind of arc during the season, also developed by sam, is that like. he actually DOESNT have to engage and be a soldier and be a weapon and be a killer or be hunted, like he CAN just fully fully be bucky and live his life and trust and know that other people are going to protect him and care for him, that he DOESNT have to do everything himself and be suspicious of everyone and always expect the worst outcome. his agency is understanding the value of just being a person, alive and mundane and free

so of course sam AS CAPTAIN AMERICA comes in and saves his ass and is the big hero and bucky is like. totally okay with taking a back seat and letting this happen. and just generally feels very cared for

so this version of the falcon and the winter soldier is them like. unbecoming the falcon and the winter soldier. sam is no one's puppet or tool or soldier or sidekick, him as a hero is about him being himself and him standing up for what he values. and bucky is no longer the winter soldier. he's just a guy who's trying to live his life

lots of world leaders (including t'challa) acknowledge sam as captain america and it feels pretty damn good actually

the epilogue is that bucky finally feels safe settling down and going to therapy, but sam is his emotional support person - both his own hero and a good friend, someone who leads through empathy and compassion and understanding, but also some good friendly ribbing

C!Characters are free game in the MCYT fandom space, but what does that Mean?

Time to talk about C!Character and what you can do in a fandom space with them, specially about the more unwritten ‘rules’ of this kinda fandom. Specially for those not sure how to navigate a fandom space like this ‘safely’. (please keep in mind these are all my own opinions and ideas and shouldn't be taken as 100% law, as im interpreting ALOT of what the fandom regards as ‘unwritten rules’ into a format people can understand) First off, as it stands, c!Character (and by extension, some personas even) are fictional characters. Maybe of them, yes, are based on their irl counterpart, the cc’s, but there is a degree of separation between them!  When doing fandom works or engaging in fandom, all works/talks pertaining to the actual cc’s boundaries should ALWAYS be respected, always.  However, the c!Characters? As far as im concerned, they should be free game to do whatever with. They are not real people, they are characters, fictional people, and thus should and can be used just like every fictional character ever. Ofc if the cc has mentioned anything specific about the c!Character (not themselves) you should try to follow it (in the case of boundaries, gender, pronouns, age, sexuality, ect ect) but you dont really have to, that's what creative freedom is for! As long as you aren't changing them out of malice, then its okay! (for example changing a c!character to fit bigoted, homophonic, for outside political views, ect. ect with the intent of being an asshole and doing harm) What this can mean; 

Hc/write the c!Character a different sexuality

Have a different set of pronouns

Be put in horrible situations (like a angst/whump story with pain and angst!)

Have them relationships (both platonic or otherwise) they dont normally have in canon

Explore types of relationships or reactions then dont have in canon

and so much more! Treat it like its a normal fandom in regards to the characters, troupes and story ideas abound <3

what this does not mean;

Sexualizing's minors. Yes I said before they are not real people and a lot of the people who do, in fact, sexualize minors are minors themselves (and minors having crushes on fellow minors who are ccs are very normal!) but the fact they are tied to real cc’s makes this line a gray area and one that really shouldn't be crossed in general, even more so if you aren't a minor and are an adult. So while id consider the characters fictional characters, this is just a line better not crossed. 

If you make that sort of content? Keep it away from those who dont want to see it, nor shove it in our faces, Tag your shit and understand we dont want to touch it with a 50ft pole. That being said if you go looking for it, its your own fault for what you see. Its gonna happen regardless of if we want it to or not, better just pretend it doesn't then worry about it/be subjected to it. 

Telling cc’s about it. Just leave them alone, its none of their business and if they want to come into a fandom space and read about their characters that's their business, they do it on our terms!

Dont apply these ‘rules’ to cc’s, like I said, they are real people and while most actual RPF I see about them is pretty good at this, RESPECT THE ACTUAL PEOPLES BOUNDRIES. This is literally only in relation to the c!Characters.

And if you come across someone who breaks these ‘rules’? DONT FUCKING TELL THEM TO KILL THEMSLEVES. Id rather sit through 1000 gross, nasty boundaries breaking fics then have someone kill themselves over this kinda thing. Its fucking harmless, even the more ‘gross’ stuff and while you and I dont like it, nobody deserves to be treated that way over it. Find something you dont like? Block them and move on with your day, you’ll find like is so much easier when you dont worry and needlessly harass people over things you cant really change. 

So TLDR;  Characters should be free range in fandom spaces since they are not the cc’s and thus not or should not be limited by the real life boundaries, however you should be aware there are gray areas you probably shouldn’t cross even then  (This was brought to you guys mostly by the posts lately about ‘underage shipping’ and the shipping of cc’s lately in the fandoms, specially Tubbo and Ranboo and Tommy, as well as some of the adult people too)

so pros of (Jiang Cheng/Wen Qing):

one of the few possible het ships available to mdzs fans like there are all of five named female characters and this is the only one not in an established het pairing. and like sure ive seen yanli w/ someone else a couple times but you CANT put her with JIANG CHENG and i cant say ive ever seen mianmian in a serious relationship in fics with anyone besides either her canon hubby or a chick (usually yanli, wen qing herself, or even sometimes both lmao).

it’s basically written itself in cql!! he has a very obv and clear crush on her, even gives her a comb and offers to help her! she seems interested but the way the storyline went it was simply not meant to be :’(

you get to pair off jiang cheng!! ngl once u finish mdzs its kinda sad for everyone not wangxian (in their generation/above) cuz theyre the only one that get a happy ending. Everyone else is forever alone / depressed / bitter or a combination thereof. so it’s nice to see jiang cheng getting a happy ending!

he... gets... kids...? like ngl as a childless person that is happy to stay that way thats not exactly a pro in my eyes but you might look at his relationship w/ jin ling and say “he’s a great father! he deserves to be a father!” which okay good news! wen qing can bear children!

Now. Cons. 

for one thing the fact that you have a lack of options doesnt exactly mean every possible het pairing can have good chemistry even if you change circumstances enough. there comes to a point where certain pairings can only be really viable if one or both of them are ooc.

lets be honest im willing to bet that AT LEAST 80% of the reason cql introduced this ship was because they were not allowed to make the wangxian pair explicitly Together (and i dont even mean anything specifically sexual), and they needed SOME SORT of romance to feature in the story. xuanli doesnt count because theyre an established background ship,  the jiang parents dont count as romance, we aint talkin about the villain relationships, and lbr, mianmian already had a lot more signif in cql than mdzs. so it makes sense that they took the arguably most important male chara besides wangxian and made him have a crush on the most important female character that wasnt his SISTER. 

what im trying to say is that cql pulled that pairing out of a hat. if you look at canon at ALL i highly doubt there would ever have been feelings, just as there never were. we dont quite know the age dif but we know that wen qing was the older sister and wen ning might have been a bit younger? than the boys? cannot quite remember but we dont know if she was only a year or two older or if it was like. mingjue and huaisang. we dont know! and i canNOT see jiang cheng going for an older chick. also their personalities would clash So Much. she has older sis vibes and not the gentle kind like yanli. she snaps at wen ning’s mumbling and stuff a good couple times- you think she’d tolerate jiang cheng’s emotional immaturity? hah. 

this also kinda segues into my main point of: as depressing as it is that jiang cheng is forever alone unless you pair him off... he would honestly put whoever you pair him off with through hell. he’s not nice. so many jiang cheng stans like to argue that he’s a traumatized kid that was raised to channel his emotions through anger (and raises bitterness under his skin like an ugly puppy) but inside he has a heart of gold, and they’re... not exactly wrong! i mean- literally every younger chara is traumatized in some way. but... that doesn’t really... excuse the shit he’s pulled? as much as jiang cheng stans like to forget: jin guangyao was RIGHT when he said that jiang cheng’s insecurities got wei ying killed. his CLOSEST ALLY. 

tying back to wen qing we have their actual CANON interactions (or lack thereof). wen qing didn’t exactly protect wei ying and jiang cheng out of the goodness of her heart when lotus pier fell: she was protecting wen ning (her BROTHER) from the repercussions of his own actions by saving wei ying (and Jiang Cheng ig idk he was just there bUT YOUNG MASTER WEI-)

not QUITE sure why she agreed to doing the golden core transfer (maybe scientific curiousity? i mean she had an unproven medical theory and here was a volunteer) but it def wasnt For Jiang Cheng.

and then the next time she saw him? do you guys remember the next time she saw him? it’ was when jiang cheng came up to the burial mounds to kill wen ning’s corpse and tell wei ying to turn over the wens. 

KEEP IN MIND that jiang cheng KNOWS wen ning and qing SAVED HIS FUCKING ASS after lotus pier (not How but he KNOWS THIS) and yet he still tells wei ying to hand them over.

he makes wei ying choose between what amounts to the cultivation world and his morals. 

that does not a good healthy relationship make. also again their personalities would clash like so bad. i love wen qing way more but you have to admit her personality is super similar to madame yu’s. and we already agreed that jiang cheng was traumatized as a kid. im not saying fengmian didnt have a hand in it but you gotta admit a good amount was madam yu and her insecurites and accusations she piled on her son. and you wanna pair him up romantically with someone who won’t take his shit and smile? will call him out? HAH.

im not saying this because i think jiang cheng should be with a softer personalitied (guy) like lan xichen or wen ning or huaisang because god knows those pairings have their own issues. im just saying that in canon-verse all i can ship whole-heartedly is jiang cheng / therapy, but since there is not therapy in canon-verse, or even if there WAS then there’s no way he’d admit to needing it, then yeah he can stay single for all his bitter life. better that than making jiang parent relationship 2.0 like fuck.

(this of course means that in modern aus where he DOES get therapy i am Open)

also real quick but jiang cheng was NOT a good parent to jin ling and i will not take constructive criticism like sure he was better than the jiang parents and the lan parents but that is SUCH a low fuckin bar and it’s a fact that in chapter 9 jin ling literally thinks “if I can’t slice off her head with this blow, I will die here- death it is then!!” (taken gratefully from the exiled rebels scanlation) and that is NOT a healthy-minded child.

the only healthy minded children is like. jingyi. and probably sizhui. although i am not here for the way the lan sect raise children but sometimes you have to take what you can get.

also i want you to look me in the eye and tell me that wen qing could and would do anything besides throw down with someone that so much as looked at her brother wrong

because jiang cheng apparently decided to lay the blame for jin zixuan’s death at wen ning’s feet (which is incredibly ironic considering he blames wei ying for yanli’s death??? like i feel like he could stand to use his brain cells a bit more??) and repeatedly tried to kill him.

the beginning is the same, canon diverges just after waving through a window.

In the moments before he talks to Connor evan decides to omit Zoe from his letter, having resolved himself to move on from her. (instead of being a hella creep.)

Connor: “dear Evan Hansen,” what are you writing letters to yourself? *he laughs*

Evan: its, uh, its for my therapist. its just a stupid little assignment that she says is supposed to help me process my feelings or— uh or something

Connor: hm. here. * hands Evan the letter*

Connor: your cast. no one’s signed it.

Evan: uh no. no one has.

Connor: gotta sharpie?

Evan: huh?

Connor: gotta sharpie? im gonna sign it.

Evan: *handing the sharpie to Connor* w- whuh uh why?

Connor: *shrugs* feels right.

Evan: i wish i could do that

Connor: what?

Evan: UH, IMEAN—

Evan breathing heavy: that was,, an eventful ten minutes.

Connor snaps his mouf shut: yeah

Evan: thanks

Connor: oh that, uh actually helped?

Neither of them noticed that Connor was just sort of Driving. they end up at the park where in canon Connor commits Sewer-slide.

Evan: i didn’t know there was a park here.

Connor: huh, oh, yeah i guess i just sorta auto piloted, i come here to think.

Evan: About stuff?

Connor: Yeah, Stuff.

*the convo lulls*

Connor: do you have a laptop?

Evan: no, i uh, i left it at home? why?

Connor: give me a second

Connor walks to the car and grabs his back pack out of the back seat

Evan watches Quizzically from the swing-set

Connor pulls out a Sketch Pad and Pen, flipping to a clean page.

Connor: So tell me how to write one of those letters of yours.

Evan: uh, well you start like any other letter- just addressing it to yourself

Connor writing: Dear Connor Murphy,

Evan: and uh, my first one was supposed to be about my ideal summer vacation? since i started in middle school- but you don’t have to—

Connor: thats perfect.

Connor starts to sing for forever,

eventually Evan joins in there is a minor gay moment where they’re holding hands face to face.

the song ends with Connor hugging Evan.

Evan: its- its pretty late.

Connor obviously crying: just— just a couple more minutes.

Evan lets go and grabs Connors sketch book of the ground, closing it and handing it off to him: then how about this, labor day weekend- we actually go.

Connor: what are you talking about?

Evan: being spontaneous?

Connor: o-okay.

and it cuts to black.

theres a small montage here, as the set changes to Connor and Evans bedrooms

sincerely, me is a lament in this context, Connor and Evan are duetting from their respective rooms, writing to themselves.

(the lyrics are completely different and i will not be writing them here because thats too much fucking effort.

but they’re duetting from their bedrooms about making a connection to another person, feeling seen, for the first time. what it felt like and how they really want to keep it up but are afraid of making a mistake and ruining it.

its got some themes of waving thru a window, and a little bit of for forever, but its still largely the same notes just in a different key.)

after wards, Zoe knocks on Connors door to tell him dinner is ready to find him peacefully asleep.

requiem is the same, Zoe sees Connor as Dead to Her instead of actually dead, so some of the wording changes, so and so about how a monster doesn’t deserve peaceful rest etcetera.

school day happens, Connor doesn’t die, but the hot goss is that everyone saw Connor and Evan go home together after school, jared makes a shitty homophobic joke to Evan and Evan kind of tells him off about it. they argue and it culminates in Evan saying “well god forbid I’m friends with someone who isn’t YOU!” or smth like tht and it hits jared right the fuck at home man.

Connor says from the side lines: damn that was pretty hard core dude.

Evan: you have, no idea how long i’ve wanted to do that.

Connor honest to god l a u g h s, theres a number of people who hear it and lose their shit, Zoe being one of them: i have a pretty good idea, wanna get some lunch?

Evan: yeah, sure.

this general routine continues until labor day weekend, when they plan to go on their little escape. theres a short scene of Connor leaving the house with his keys and a backpack.

Connors mom confronts Zoe about his oddly upbeat attitude and hows he’s seemed differently lately Zoe Shrugs but decides to investigate his room.

she finds the letters. the first one is for forever, the theme plays as she reads it frantically, and is signed “Sincerely me (connor murphy)” so she knows its him, i f i could tell her begins but its a real duet between Connor and Zoe and at the end she resolves to try harder to connect to him.

Evan sings disappear to Connor after breaking into a formerly public park, in this context its him confessing that he broke his arm attempting su!c!de. Connor records it, for personal reference.

jared hacks Connors phone and steals the video, posting it to yt, in an effort to ruin their friendship.

Evan and Connor get in a little fight about it, and in the meantime Evan is called to the school to give an assembly because hes a phenomenal speaker and Disappear got like 1000000 views over night.

Zoe and Connor bond a little bit in a short scene before the assembly

Zoe: wheres Evan what happened?

Connor: Kleinman Did!

Zoe: what?

Connor: Why Do you care?

Zoe: because! you look happy around him!

Connor: i, i do?

Zoe: yeah? he could tell the worst joke ever written and you’d crack up. i haven’t heard you laugh like that in years Connor, maybe ever.

Connor: oh.

Zoe: Come back inside?

Connor: y, Yeah.

they all perform You Will Be Found together.

end act 1.

(no more dialogue from here i got tired)

to break in a glove is Connor’s dad trying to reconnect with him, it goes mediocrely, but Connor feels like hes being seen by his dad for the first time in years. its said in metaphors, but this is Connors dads way of saying that if Connor is willing to put in the work, so is he. they hug at the end, things are looking up. some talk of therapy is sprinkiled in the dialogue as they walk of stage together.

Only Us is Evan and Connor saying that they saved each other. its loosely romantic, as its a love song, but they don’t out right say that they’re in love or anything, they don’t know if theyre ready for that. its a promise. the song ends with Connor finally apologizing for pushing Evan over at the beginning of the show.

good for you is sung by jared only, as a power ballad, about losing people you didn’t treasure. its his attempt at an apology, but it ultimately fails, since jared is unable to take responsibility for his own actions. this is where jared and Evan go their separate ways.

Evan’s mom comforts him, as he sings words fail, which is about specifically jared, and how their rocky friendship is ruined and Evan pegs himself as the cause, instead of parents or perfect girl he uses metaphors that apply to best friends— maybe more. and talks about how he didn’t try, he was happy so he ignored that jared was hurting, and how that was really shitty of him. but instead of it being a generally somber song the end is lighter, because Connor is there— waving through his front window.

Evans mom sings So Big/So Small as Evan steps out the front door to embrace Connor and they mime talking about jared, hug and take hands. the house moves off stage in preparation for the finale.

Connor and Evan open the finale saying each others names, and sing it together as the test of the cast (minus jared) joins in, Evans mom taking his hand and Zoe Taking Connors, Evans mom the Murphys and Zoe break off to the back where Evan and Connor finish the final “all i see is sky for forever” while looking into each others eyes, and finish the musical by embracing (maybe kissing if thats ur jam).

chained his hands together and basically a leash on him to keep him from moving around in his cell so he cant do anything to break the horns off before they get too long and one day when technos breaking into lmanberg he gets chased into the prison and loses them in the halls before coming across schlatts cell and schlatts calling out like 'whos there i can hear ur foot steps whos there please someone whos there' etc yk and technos speechless they thought they executed him to keep him from causing any more problems in the country but this is this is just much worse than anything he even thought theyd do and hes standing in front of schlatts cell just looking at him as if hes imagining it he knew lmanberg was bad but holy fuck they just let this man rot in a cell to the point of his own horns blinding him and giving him no aid or way to ease the pain so he makes himself known and schlatt 'ive never been so happy to see, well, hear an anarchist in my life, its good to see- hear you technoblade' and chuckles and blood runs down his face like tears would, few drops landing on his clothes before techno starts trying to get into the cell to take him out of there he cant leave him here sure he was an anarchist terrorist w a murder record but he had standards and now that schlatt wasnt in power he had nothing against him really considering he isnt a citizen of lmanberg so he manages to pick the locks enough to get him out of there, schlatts arm slung over technos shoulder they stumble out of the prison building and as they slowly make their way to the nether portal to get back to technos base, they run into tubbo and quackity, schlatts old right hand men and they try to stop techno bc hes well an anarchist terrorist w a murder record but the glare techno gives them levels them and theyre left staring at each other for a moment when schlatt 'whyre we stopped whos there tech' and techno mumbles 'tubbo and quackity schlatt' and schlatt just furrows his brows as far as he can without sending excruciating pain into his eye sockets before he purses his lips and asks 'are they going to try and stop us?' techno looks back at the other two 'no they wont, isnt that right boys?' tubbo and quackity slink away allowing techno and schlatt to the portal and them going thru, schlatt still silent as he tries not to trip over technos cape or off the ledge of the bridge passing over the lava lakes, they make it to the portal and begin the walk across the arctic tundra to technos house, philza isnt there right now so its just the two of them and techno leads him up the ladder to his room (its not really a room i think its just a bed, a bell and an enchantment table) and sits him down on his bed mumbling something abt being right back and he is with some medical supplies and a change of clothes to clean everything up, they dont talk techno works in silence and when schlatt winces he mumbles a small apology before continuing eventually techno got schlatt as cleaned up as you can get someone w horns in their eyes and a sweater to keep him warm and finally starts asking questions 'how long had u been in there' 'lost count' 'did they bring you food' 'a chests worth at the beginning of the month' techno sighs 'i thought they executed you' 'tubbo chickened out despite me being 'an active threat to our peace in lmanberg' and locked me up a few days after u set the withers loose and dropped off a chest of food once a month and most of them refused to talk to me others couldnt even make eye contact with me, other than the few instances where they said things like 'heres ur food' or 'u deserve this' or 'i cant believe tubbo let u live' i talked to no one other than myself for however long i was in there' techno stands and walks around for a moment before flipping some pages and schlatt can hear him gasp quietly in mild surprise 'what is it tech' looking in the direction he heard techno from and techno says, turning to face schlatt on his bed 'schlatt that was almost 3 months ago' a single beat of silence rings for what feels like forever 'oh. i, i didnt think itd been that long. though it would explain my current predicament' loosely gesturing towards his face 'oh right abt that i have a few questions if ur ready to answer some' schlatt hums and techno grabs a pen and paper and sits next to him in case he needs to take any notes for future reference 'how fast do ur horns normally grow' 'idk just a steady amount my whole life pretty much' 'will they ever stop growing' 'they generally stop growing around 30 and continue to grow more in width than length' 'did anyone who brought u food notice' 'they grow quickly and by the time the person w the third chest came around they were getting close to my eyes but they didnt listen to me, no one did' he sighs looking down at would be his hands 'the odds of both of my horns growing into my eyes and blinding me like this are so low but of course it would happen to me' a fair, u were the one that took me down afterall' and from then on schlatt lives w techno and phil and eventually tommy and then without tommy (tommy was Not happy when he found out that schlatt was living with techno but he needed somewhere to stay too and techno happens to live in an arctic tundra where only a handful of people know how to get to so he didnt complain too much) and eventually techno saws off schlatts horns at the bend adn removes them from his eyes bc if they kept growing into his head theyd hit his brain and kill him on top of blinding  him and techno gags and almost throws up despite not being sensitive to gore  and gives schlatt a bandanna to cover the holes in his head for everyones sake and once they heal somewhat he can find something else out and thats how they live, schlatt helps with what he can like farming w phil but mostly spends his time learning braille or something so he can read and techno gets him books in braille so he isnt bored or alone like he was in the prison and he feeds him and takes care of him and schlatt is funny and entertaining despite being blinded by something from his own body and the torture it was like to rot in a cell alone for almost a 1/4 of a year and nights when techno gets home late and hes shaken and the voices are bad schlatt will sit behind him and play with his hair and talk abt his own day and rub technos back and in return when schlatt relapses and gets violent and angry techno will wash his hair and read him stories until he calms down and hopefully asleep and no one told him the news that wilbur died so when ghostbur shows up and starts talking to him he treats him the same as he would wilbur bc he cant see that hes a ghost all thats different is his speech pattern and overall personality and one day he says 'ur different wilbur what happened to that, i dunno spark u used to have' and wilbur simply 'im not sure if im being honest a lot abt me has changed since i died, or so im told i dont remember much from when i was alive' and schlatt just 0_0 and then hes scrambling down the ladder and stumbling around the house looking for techno, finding him in the basement working on something and when he gets there hes out of breath and his hands are shaking bc holy shit wilburs not only dead but a ghost and he was just talking to me and he doesnt remember what i did and and and and techno is shocked to see schlatt in the basement and asks whats up and schlatt just 'wilbur died wilbur fucking died tech why didnt anyone tell him and now hes a ghost hes a fucking ghost who lives in ur house and doesnt remember anything he doesnt remember that he blew up lmanberg does he he remembers my name but not anything that i did what hes a fucking ghost techno hes a ghost holy fuck' and technos just standing there like ??? no one no one told him 'yea philza had to kill him after he blew up lmanberg i thought u knew thats why i didnt say anything' oh. 'phil, phil had to kill him?' 'yea its a touchy subject, dont bring it up' and simply goes back to what he was working on so schlatt sits on the ground by the ladder and listens to him work his brain going a mile a minute trying to comprehend whats going on 'would i have become a ghost if theyd chosen to execute me?' 'its hard to say im unsure if theres specific circumstances that contribuite to someone becoming a ghost but theres really no telling' and goes back to working yet again and from then on they fall into an easy schedule of techno going out and doing whatever an anarchist terrorist w a murder record does on ur average wednesday and schlatt stays home reading and organizing whatever he can based on size and feeling and sleeping in windowsills and schlatt greeting techno comes home beaten up and full of new resources and a side of bruises and cuts so he tends to them, getting better at maneuvering and functioning without needing to see then techno making dinner and then curling up by the fire for the night enjoying each others company as they talk abt their days :]
