i don't want to talk about dream or the fuckass smp ever but everyone is misunderstanding slur discourse and it's pissing me off:

the whole 'dream was RECLAIMING the slur!' excuse is so childishly weak that i'm surprised dream isn't trying to emotionally abuse it for content. everyone using this excuse seems to be willfully misunderstanding how to use slurs - by which i mean there is no 'how to' for using slurs. a slur is not a funny little no-no word that comes free with whatever marginalized identity you have; every community is going to have a different relationship with the slurs associated with them.

the N-slur, F-slur and T-slur have all been used to establish a sense of community and rebellion (though all in slightly different ways) - the R-slur, however, has never been used in a community-building way AT ALL. so when you use a word like the R-slur, a word that has NEVER been used to establish community or rebellion for the neurodivergent community, as an insult against 5 million people (the implication being that watching tommyinnit makes you autistic and therefore 'wrong') then yeah, i don't really buy the 'but i'm RECLAIMING it!!!!' excuse. as someone who used to just throw the word around in the past, i genuinely cringe now when i see other neurodivergent people (especially low-support-needs NDs like dream, because it is ALWAYS low-support-needs NDs like dream) using the R-slur, because it just proves you have no idea about the history of your community or the context of the word; you just want your own N-slur to be able to pepper into conversation without anyone telling you off for it.

so no, dream was not reclaiming the word, and it is not comparable to him getting called a slur by nicholas cantu (and honestly dream trying to find a way to use 'gumball called me a faggot' as an excuse for hurling slurs would be so fucking funny if it weren't so sad and pathetic.) it's not comparable to the N-slur or F-slur or anything like that because, say it with me, slurs aren't a fucking,,, Perk you unlock the second you enter a marginalized community. they're all very unique with very different contexts and histories behind them. this is just another privileged fuckwad grasping at straws to use a no-no word because he knows he's not allowed to use any of the other ones.

"This callout could have been private" My friend, if it was private, how would people know that the creator was toxic to begin with?

How would MOST people know that the creator was toxic if we kept everything private instead of calling them out on their bs?

How can we progress as a civilization if we keep trusting proshipper logic by denying people of seeing the toxic sides of bad creators online? Honestly? Im saying this as someone who was a victim of harasser "callouts" as a child that literally happened because I stood up to one of my past bullies for posting private info of me when I was only I minor. I get it, I get that this hurts.

But we shouldn't abandon the fact that some callouts DO need to exists for the sake of humanity. Callouts of Dream, Callouts of Vivziepop, Callouts of Zone Tan. We SHOULD callout creators like this. We SHOULD take action.

The thing about dream calling Tommyinnt fans the r slur is that slurs can be reclaim in order to empower minorities groups NOT to use that term to be hateful. I don’t think anyone should be saying the r slur because it’s a word that is used to call people stupid and in any context I have seen it used to discriminate against someone. The r slur is a slur that doesn’t need to be reclaim because in every context I see it’s used to spread negativity and it’s just a bad word to fucking be ableist. Even if dream was trying to reclaim it’s doesn’t work that way because he is literally spreading hatefulness to a group of people and being discriminating towards a group of people because of his language. The language that he is using is not okay and also it’s not only impacting just tommyinnt fans but also anyone that comes across his post. Dream not taking accountability for his words can show the type of person he is and it’s so pathetic to see that. ​I think Tommyinnt shouldn’t be dealing with this bullshit and should be left alone.

I am not a Dream supporter. I know that some of my mutuals are and I'm sorry that I have to break off our relationship like this, but I can't continue to watch you defend him like this.

Dream is a Trump supporter (clip here). I refuse to support or even be neutral with anybody that believes that that horrid creature of a man is worthy of running our country. He is a bigot in every definition of the word and is actively trying to take the rights away from people like myself.
