Trump and MAGA revealed what they are at today's rally at Madison Square Garden-a clear attempt to invoke and recreate the infamous pro-Nazi rally there in 1939.

As one would expect, the rally was full of virulent racism and fear-mongering.

Of particular note was one speaker's racist comment comparing Puerto Rico, a US territory in the Caribbean, to garbage, which is getting backlash, and some frantic backpedaling from Florida Republican senatorial candidate Rick Scott.

While Puerto Rico does not have statehood, there are a LOT of Puerto Rican voters elsewhere in the country, particularly in Florida, so this is likely to backfire on Republicans. As of 2020, 13% of all Latino voters were Puerto Rican in origin- the second largest block after Mexican Americans.

bisan, one of the many wonderful, brave journalists showing us the brutalization of palestinians in the gaza strip, is calling for a GLOBAL STRIKE from January 21st to January 28th!

It's understandable if you are not able to call off of work that entire week! Prioritize, organize, divide responsibilities and resources locally. Do not shop other than for necessity! When you leave the house, be LOUD about your support for Palestine. Remember the boycott! It is WORKING!

If you can't call off the entire week, at least Sunday or Monday, whichever would be the most noticeable at your place of work!

We need to show the world that we ARE united!

We need to show those in power that the people outnumber them and that they rely on us more than we rely on any of them. They need us. We are their militaries. We are their cooks. We clean their homes. We raise their children for them. We build their towers, their ships, and their castles for them! And for what? Gold? Glory? A promise of a Heaven they have never seen and will likely be barred from themselves? They worship money, a concept they created themselves to control us, only for the money to turn around and control THEM.

We are waking up.

A new age is upon us.

We will never lose hope for a free world.

Whether or not the five permanently-inhabited US territories (Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the American Samoa) have voting representation in the Congress, they should have one vote apiece in the Electoral College, just so that we can eliminate the infuriating "No winner" edge case:

But Beck is just so soft and I'm a sucker for Soft Boys. I think we could relate on a lot of personal feelings, both good and bad, and we both just want a normal and peaceful life. Also while all ROs would be fine with it, I imagine Beck's response to me being grey romantic ace as just "ok, we're best friends who are in love sometimes" and that easy acceptance would make me cry lol

If we succeed in stopping Trump, it won't be any one thing that stops him. It will be the work of millions of people, and his own innumerable vices and failures.

But I do think his openly fascist rally at Madison Square Garden, and his surrogates' virulently racist attacks on Latino Americans right before Election Day, may be the final nail in the coffin.

was looking for television with puerto rican characters and i found a website that was like here have these best movies with puerto rican characters and leads! and then the first three results were not puerto ricans and then it was spiderverse. god i love it here i love having to claw through countless searches and sites just to find a lil smidge of something from this century. im so tired man.... and even when we're on screen, a puerto rican playing a character doesnt always mean that our culture is even seen at all and thats the part that hurts the most. we're just vague hispanic characters its so awesome

[Alright if you've been to Puerto Rico, you definitely know about this place, but if not--check it out.]

Basically, in the year 1972, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico (a town we've talked about before), Felipe Perez decided to open a little diner to serve sandwiches. It's a beach town, so a lot of people who visited the beach, like surfers, would stop by for those nice hot sandwiches. It made enough money that Perez was able to open a second location, and, uh, before you know it... these guys are all over the island.

I mean, like, everywhere. It is THE fast food place (at least, the local one) that is really easy to find no matter where you go in Puerto Rico. It's famous for sandwiches, of course, using Puerto Rican criollo bread, but it's also got breakfast items if you show up early enough. And there are some distinctly Puerto Rican items on the menu, such as the mallorca for breakfast or the sorullos as a side.

It's still family owned and operated, too. In 2012 Travel & Leisure called it one of the world's best fast food chains.

However! You don't have to go to Puerto Rico to eat at one of these, because a few of them are stateside! And by 'stateside', I mean, 'Florida', so if you don't live there, you still have to travel. Sorry. Still! Three of them are in Orlando, so if you need some Puerto Rican food on the way to/from Universal or Disney World, there ya go.

Also! They serve coffee from beans specifically grown in Puerto Rico.
