the 13th was my 3rd year marriage anniversary with my spouse and im thinking about how a little over 3 years ago when i was still living w my grandparents (paying them rent, paying pff the car they helped me get, and paying for my own food and own bills) my grandpa said he only viewed my then fiance now spouse as a "friend" bc I "clearly" wasnt trying hard enough to immigrate to a whole ass other country bc I was buying myself things that I genuinely needed (and some books that i wanted bc i was working almost every day all day and missed both my siblings birthdays working to save up to move away and possibly never be able to see them again bc i knew that id be too poor and that theyd never want to visit, which i was fucking correct about)

i literally got a job, my license, a car, etc, I was SPEEDRUNNING adulthood within the span of a fucking summer, but bc i wasnt trying hard enough in his eyes, despite working 70 hr weeks and needing therapy and to be medicated just to get through all of it, Levi and I just "must not be that serious actually"

so i fucking left for the border

i said "lol bet" and they almost didnt let me in bc i only had a few hundred dollars saved

they ended up calling levi and levi gave them a rundown of HIS financials and assured them that if things didnt work and i wanted to leave, they would 100% fund me going back to the states and THAT is was got me in

plus, the gentleman at the front desk was so kind and sweet, he gave me and extended visa 😭

but yeah, now my grandpa never sees me bc im poor and he doesn't want to go to canada, hed rather take trips to mexico
