My 2023 watercolour palette extension. The first image is photographed, the second was scanned with my crappy old scanner. The difference is pretty huge with some pigments, especially Brilliant Opera Rose! The scanner couldn't handle it's brightness at all! (I am currently saving up for a proper art scanner, so we'll see how that changes the colours too.)

All pigments are Schmicke.

The blank spots without labelling have yet to be filled and the blank but labelled spots are reserved for pigments I have in my older palette setup as pans but are running low. These new ones are all tubes and I'll crack the dublicates open as soon as the pans are empty.

generally i'm pretty happy with this selection. there are some pigments i would like to experiment with in the future (ofc lol). i do think the Lukas pigments are a little chalky compared to the Schminke ones which is fine since they are student grade watercolours. i do notice the difference when i'm painting though.

Homework for lesson 3 of #sketchingnowwatercolour - creating my master palette. Even though I usually use more colors (my normal palette has 24 pigments), I decided to copy @lizsteelart ‘s 12 color palette since I actually have all of those paints (with the exception of using M. Graham’s sap green instead of Daniel Smith’s because I just had that laying around). But, since we are tackling color this week, I decided to limit myself to just 12 colors to work on my mixing. Paletas de acuarelas #watercolourpalette ¡me chiflan! Voy buscando la paleta perfecta. Unas son mejores para acuarela líquida, otras para acuarela de tubo, unas son ideales para transportar, otras ofrecen mayor superficie, cada una tiene algo bueno. 💚💚💚 En la imagen: 🖍arriba, paleta de sobremesa de @royaltalensspain ideal para hacer muchas mezclas por su gran tamaño. La uso con acuarelas de tubo. 🖍 abajo: para las acuarelas líquidas, uso un recipiente para hacer hielo, con tapa transparente. Las acuarelas líquidas también se secan, (sobre todo si no están en su tarro) pero puedes reconstituirlas pulverizando agua por encima. 🖍 mi paleta favorita hasta el momento es la central, es de @mijello_mission y me encanta por muchos motivos. La he usado con mis acuarelas de @sennelier1887 de tubo, y me encanta la terminación de los pocillos en “rampa”, para que no sufra el pincel. Este modelo tiene espacio para 18 colores, y tiene una paleta “extra” que es transparente y se quita y se pone. I got my new travel palette tin! So I spend last night deciding which colours go in. It's a mix of artist and student grade paints, because that's what I've got. Now to see how I'll use this combination while on the go. I love that I've got so much mixing space all in the one tin.
