My 2023 watercolour palette extension. The first image is photographed, the second was scanned with my crappy old scanner. The difference is pretty huge with some pigments, especially Brilliant Opera Rose! The scanner couldn't handle it's brightness at all! (I am currently saving up for a proper art scanner, so we'll see how that changes the colours too.)

All pigments are Schmicke.

The blank spots without labelling have yet to be filled and the blank but labelled spots are reserved for pigments I have in my older palette setup as pans but are running low. These new ones are all tubes and I'll crack the dublicates open as soon as the pans are empty.

generally i'm pretty happy with this selection. there are some pigments i would like to experiment with in the future (ofc lol). i do think the Lukas pigments are a little chalky compared to the Schminke ones which is fine since they are student grade watercolours. i do notice the difference when i'm painting though.

Having time to comfortably do a watercolor color chart for myself was refreshing. I last did one of these in college.

If anyone knows of any good watercolor tutorial videos, let me know. I would love to get some practice back in after so long.

Over the past week or so, I have experimented with Tuxedo (Iron oxide), Abyssinian (caput mortuum), and Tabby, Brindle & Cypers (raw umber). Tabby, Brindle & Cypers need a bit more experimenting, and I might not make all three, but I'm definitely having a blast!

New pans should arrive soon, and I've got a few more pigments incoming as well. Hopefully next week I'll be able to make some big enough batches to finally get started putting them up on Ko-fi!

found this fantastic indie watercolour brand called shimmer drops that specializes in metalics and colour-shifting pigments while also being as green as possible w materials, and by god do i Yearn but they're an aussie brand and shipping fees for even a few colours would be horrendous

Mural Obligation

wtf am i really sharing actual cc and not just random patterns? gosh darn i am! ANYWAY uhm. YEAH! hooboy. finally, finally finished my mural project and i'm so happy to share it! nothing super fancy: mural wallpaper with 12 swatches, each element hand-painted with gouache and watercolour!

Known Issues/Things To Note

Multi-Tile murals work pretty weirdly in TS4, in that on each lot they just start on their own predefined spot and you can't change it, so you can't choose which bits of the mural go where.

Also on two of the swatches, some people have had a bit of texture bleed at the very top of the wall. Others haven't, and I can't replicate the issue myself, so no idea what's happened there but it's pretty minor so hopefully shouldn't be that much of an issue.

ANYWAY huge thanks to all of you who tested this and listened to my constant moaning asdfghjhgfds. you're all LEGENDS!

Edmund Dulac Illustrations - Sims 3 CC

Here are some illustrations to decorate your Sims 3 walls from the acclaimed artist and designer, Edmund Dulac.

Short Bio: Edmund Dulac (1882 - 1953) was a French artist, though for most of his life he was working in the UK. One of the most notable artists from "The Golden Age of Illustration", he illustrated children's books, classic novels, fairytales, poems, and even designed stamps and banknotes. Most of his illustrations were done in watercolour and/or gouache.

some are pure single pigment colours and others are blends i’ve developed myself. i forgot to swatch the potter’s pink in literal plain sight on my desk but i kinda don’t want to destroy the beauty of how perfectly i poured those specific pans… uh

Still not entirely sure if im happy with how this piece is going or if im really done with it yet, but here's some more progress scans of my most recent watercolour thing (first post link). + also a scan of my swatch sheet for it cause some of the gradients on there turned out super pretty even if i didn't manage to capture them on the actual painting lol

(Discoloured splotches on the swatch sheet are courtesy of a can of soda getting knocked over during a catastrophic studio furniture incident. Thankfully there were no other casualties, other than a few of my paint pans needing a wash...)
