Hello hello, coming over to ask about the modern au. :) Do Sky and Wild ever stress cook together? Does Warriors knit sweaters for his cats? Does Twilight bring home strays sometimes?

1. THEY DO, once they actually become friends. Wild’s funny in this au because he met and befriended Wars and Twi individually, and they didn’t realize they both knew Wild. So Wars would literally be talking about him like “yeah my friend who helps me with photoshoots and has helped me design costumes for years now” and then Twi would be like “oh yeah my buddy who comes to take pictures of the penguins at work like twice a week” and then Sky would come home from work every day crying about the guy who orders ice water “in a mug, for here please” because he cannot comprehend why in a MUG and it drives him nuts, and NONE of them realized they were talking about the same guy. and then one day Wars invited Wild over to help him with something and poor Sky opened the door to see the bane of his existence standing on the other side and he screamed in genuine fear. They’re friends now, but Sky’s eye DOES twitch every time Wild makes him put ice water in a mug

2. HE DOESN’T :( his cats in this au have fur so they don’t need the sweaters to keep em warm. Wars also doesn’t have the time to knit, he’s incredibly busy running around all day and his “destress hobby” is another physical activity so he’s really either dancing/in class, skating, hanging out with friends from class to grab lunch, dead on his apartment floor, or Twi got enough food in him and forced him to sleep long enough that he’ll play a video game or read a book aalskkddk

3. Twi is MUCH more likely to bring a stray to Time and Malon than he is the apartment. They’re basically his parents, they’ve had him since he was one and he LOVES animals and they’re well aware of this aldkdk. And he knows his roommates wouldn’t be able to handle another animal, the only reason Wars has his cats was because he’s had them since middle school and he wasn’t about to abandon them with his mother (otherwise he would not have animals because he’s so busy, but he’s lucky because the cats have become all of their cats and they’re very well cared for). So Twi takes animals to Time and Malon instead, who will help care for whatever he brings home until it can either: Go free because he brought them a Wild Animal, get adopted, or Time gets a soft spot for it and has to BEG Malon to let him keep it. And this is why they have Several dogs (who are all very spoiled because they are Time’s children. Malon will wake up in the middle of the night like ‘ah yes, me, my husband, and his four large emotional support dogs) (It’s not hard to guess where Two got his soft spot for animals from, and Malon is just mad that he and Time have the EXACT same “please let me help this little guy” face)

Twi has a habit of finding things/people who need a little extra love and bringin’ em to the ranch. Wars has been in almost every family holiday photo since their sophomore year of high school because Malon INSISTED he come over and get out of his house and just relax for a little. Sky’s in a few as well, but Wars really has been in nearly every single one for the past seven years

I identify as a Bombay cat with wings and categorize myself as a psychological vacillant therian and transspecies. I am both human and cat at the same time; the 2 are intertwined. My identity stems from both how I feel and who I am as a living being. I am in a constant mental shift that I interpret as being feline and have many traits that can be seen as feline as well. I do experience species dysphoria when I feel more cat like. I typically have feelings of being in the wrong body and feeling foreign in my own. there's been a lot of discussion over the years about what's needed in a story premise to make it catnip for fandom (e.g. 'fantastical elements', 'well written but not TOO well written', 'spaces for creators to play', 'long running to allow for many discussions').

and i'm not saying any of that is wrong

but i think something missing from this discussion is:

clear framework template to make OCs

Warrior cat clans? great for OCs. Hogwarts Houses? great for OCs. Camp Half Blood cabins? great for OCs. Divergent classes? great for OCs. Sonic character template? great for OCs. Bending and elements? great for OCs. Star Wars aliens and Jedi light saber colors? great for OCs. Dungeons and Dragons of course was literally created to facilitate OC creation, and part of why it's been so enduringly popular is they struck gold with the Race-Class-Alignment structure.

a solid 60% of the reason MLP:FIM became so bananas level popular is because drawing OCs was soooo easy and you could easily customize it as a unicorn/pegasus/earth pony and a cutie mark and a nice color scheme to match

people really really like making OCs. make it easy for them to make OCs, and fandom will flourish.

Oh do I! Have a couple, in alphabetical order:

Absolutely No Adventures - An outright pratchettesque fantasy parody about a (very) Chosen One who has studied the art of baking instead heeding the call to adventure and refuses to go on any quests.

Care and Feeding of Werewolves - A (in-universe) podcast addressing current events and issues in the (American) paranormal community, hosted by a witch and medical practitioner. Has very good plot and worldbuilding.

Folxlore - Queer horror podcast set in Glasgow. Excellent show. "This apartment complex is very haunted, extremely cursed, and it sometimes randomly shifts to an eldritch nightmare realm. Everyone here's queer though, including the building itself. 4 stars out of 5."

Gabriela & The Inn Between - A recent botany undergrad takes a job as Innkeeper at an inn with very strange and unusual guests. Cozy and low-stakes.

Gastronaut - Set a couple hundred years from now, a food journalist travels from Earth, then Mars, then a distant space colony. He's pathetic but in a good way. Excellent food descriptions, nice anti-capitalistic and anti-colonialist themes. Higher stakes and fewer steaks than expected.

Ghost Wax - I've always disagreed with the idea that necromancers are always evil. This show agrees - it's a horror podcast about an ancient necromancer solving supernatural murders by interviewing the victims. Very thrilling. Many feels.

Icarus Rising - Queer airship pirates! Stow-aways! Rebellion! Chases and Thrills! High-stakes drama and action among the clouds! An adorable ship cat!

Kalila Stormfire's Economical Magick Services - Very cool story about witches, fairies, werewolves, and more, a story about what makes a community, about modern-day working class neighborhoods, psychology, love, and of course magic.

Parkdale Haunt - This one I haven't listened to yet, but I've heard very good things about it. It's a horror show about a haunted house, set in Toronto, made with love for that city. Disregard this suggestion if you don't like Toronto, I've never been.

SCP: Find Us Alive - A podcast set in the SCP universe, about a site getting sucked into some sort of pocket dimension that keeps resetting in a sort of time loop. Very interesting cast of characters. Requires minimal knowledge about how the SCP Foundation works.

Starfall - Fantasy audio drama about the adventures of a theatre troupe that uses magical items and illusions in their work, and about a young warrior with mysterious powers who joins them.

Tell No Tales - Horror story about a company that specialises in removing ghosts from haunted places. The protagonist quickly becomes concerned about the ethics of that and tries to prove that they need to start treating spirits with the humanity they deserve.

The Antique Shop - Urban Fantasy drama about a student getting a job at the kind of antiques shop that you only find when you need to. Lots of cursed items. An excellent cat. Queerplatonic relationships.

The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality - An AI audio tour guide shows you various interesting exhibits and learns how to be a person. There's lots of feelings here.

The Strange Case of Starship Iris - Sci-Fi story set in the aftermath of a war between Earth and extraterrestrials. It's about outer space, survival, espionage, resistance, identity, friendship, found family, romance, and secrets. The intro song is excellent.

The Tower - A young woman climbs an ancient, unfathomably tall tower from a forgotten age. It stretches up into the sky, through the smog and the clouds. Very vibes.

The White Vault - Travel Is Not Advised. Very scary story about what's been hiding below the ice and the stone. What's been slumbering for ages. What's now beginning to wake anew.

Also for the record if any of these people are problematic I don’t know about it or what happened my entire YouTube feed for the past six years has been Reddit stories and video essays I use for background noise when I draw so if I mention someone sucky I’m sorry I haven’t consumed their content since at least middle school

For starters, I think Emma, Millard, and Horace avoid it altogether out of principle. Emma and Horace because people are stupid and they cannot believe this is what modern entertainment is and Millard because he has ruined many videos by pointing out every inaccuracy he could find and he got sick of the cesspool of misinformation that is the internet.

Jacob has been watching Minecraft videos since the beginning of the damn site. Specifically he discovered iHasCupquake and DanTDM a couple years after joining the loop and now when he’s bored and in a time with internet access he watches Minecraft Oasis and DanTDM’s Custom Mod Adventures on repeat. Noor is the exact same way, but with life hack videos very obviously aimed at middle school girls that have stuff like painting staples with nail polish and sneaking candy into class via empty glue sticks. Think Wengie and SaraBeautyCorner. They actually grew up with this so it’s more about the nostalgia than anything else

Enoch likes history videos. And videos about games like War Thunder and World of Tanks. He also likes Vine compilations, discovered when Jacob and Noor were quoting vines to each other and Enoch joined with them having absolutely zero knowledge he even knew what that was. (Horace also begrudgingly knows what Vine was, but instead of saying “yeah I sure hope it does” to Enoch’s “road work ahead???” he goes “I hate you and everything you stand for” and Enoch laughs.)

Olive, Claire, and Bronwyn watch Gacha Life/Club/whatever the fuck they’re on now I don’t know anymore music videos and Vine compilations. Bronwyn is here for quality control. (Bronwyn’s favorite YouTube series is Rosanna Pansino’s Nerdy Nummies series, even though she has no idea what any of the references are. What she does know is that she showed Jacob the Angry Birds cupcakes and he demanded they be made that exact day.)

Hugh is fascinated by all this but has little to no idea what’s going on. He did however get very invested in Sanders Sides and is very impatiently waiting with me for Orange to be revealed.

Fiona also doesn’t know what’s going on but she thinks Warrior Cats AMVs and multi-animator projects are INSANE she loves them and gets very sad when Noor is helping her look them up and they find out yet another creator is problematic

I've decided to rework an old story/universe from several years ago, so here we go again, from the top:

暁の物語 Akatsuki no Monogatari

光 Hikari

Hikari, aka Shitaikou, is a young ronin, a master-less samurai, wandering around Edo-era Japan on a soul-searching journey.

He was raised as a girl named Sayoko (小夜子) by a samurai family, and taught swordsmanship and the arts like his brothers, although he was never destined to become a warrior. When the time came to find him a husband, he stole two swords, ran away and changed his name.

He now walks the roads of Japan on a quest to find [insert as-of-yet undefined quest here], and offers his assistance to villagers on the way. In doing so, he often runs into yokais and other paranormal occurences, to the point where in time he becomes an expert on the occult underworld of Japan and is often nicknamed the Demon Samurai.

Hikari is accompanied in his travels by Chihiro (千尋), a kitsune, and by Mochi (餅), a totally normal cat with the usual amount of tails and absolutely no supernatural powers, no siree. He is also regularly involved with an onnagata (a cross-dressing kabuki actor) and a yokai-hunting Buddhist monk, both of which I have yet to name (Mochi's name is also susceptible of being changed soon), and meets all kinds of strange people on his travels.

Hikari has a kind heart and a strong sense of honour. His driving force is his desire to help others; although he is very naive at first, and misguided altruism often gets him in trouble. As the story progresses, he will grow more mature and cynical, often preferring the company of yokais to that of humans, but trying to retain hope and faith in his fellow men.

Akatsuki no Monogatari (the Tale of Dawn) takes place in the very beginning of the Edo era, in the transition years between the warring period of the Sengoku-Jidai and the two hundred years of peace under the Tokugawa shogunate. It is a story about change and beginnings, both of a person and of a country.

Some name lore under the cut!

The kanji Hikari 光 means "light". Hikari is a "public first name", sort of an official nickname. It was common practice in feudal Japan (at least among the samurai class) to go by a public name and keep your real name private. In Hikari's case, that is also because he often frequents yokais and magicians, who could use his true name against him.

His real name is Shitaikou 志泰光 . The kanjis composing it mean "aspire", "gentle" and "light". He chose it as a reminder to himself to strive for kindness and to make the world a better place.

("Hikari" is the last kanji composing this name. When used with other kanjis, it is pronouced "kou". Such is the messed-up way kanjis work. -frustrated weeb noises-)

Hikari doesn't have a last name; he gave up his family's name when he ran away and saw no use in taking a new one: as a ronin he is not tied to any family.

His birth name, Sayoko 小夜子 , is composed of the kanjis "small", "night" and "daughter". Hence the title, Akatsuki no Monogatari, the tale of dawn, or how the night turns into the light.

Andronikos Revel (SI) - many points for the coolest name in star wars. ok like i think his character concept is kinda boring comparatively but they pull it off so well as a romance arc. he feels very real and human and natural and i like that he keeps the inquisitor grounded by being the everyman in a story about sith sorcery and going insane because of ghosts in your brain

Akaavi Spar (S) - she is SO hot. the superior Mandalorian like Torian Cadera who?

Treek - TREEK!!!!!!!

Kira Carsen (JK) - my first ever swtor love. she has a special place in my heart

Jaesa Willsaam (SW) - let me have lesbian sex with her

Qyzen Fess (JC) - i looove him, easily one of the most interesting characters and the deep dive into trandoshan lore is so fascinating and interesting

Vette (SW) - she’s my darling 🩷 i would die for her. i bonded with her so much cause i play female characters as a rule and her whole character and relationship with the female warrior is about her craving sisters and sisterly relationships and then finding that in the warrior. and at the same time that i was playing that class i was repairing and working on my real life relationship with my little sister who i’m now very close to. so Vette is my sister. plus if you play as female you still get to hit on Tivva (just not sleep with her) and the dialogue is extremely amusing to me

Elara Dorne (RT) - in game doing that sweet pseudo-enemies to lovers with Jorgan so my character meeting Elara was like FINALLY someone who i don’t hate. out of game i was like FINALLY my autistic companion. it’s not a swtor playthrough without at least one autistic companion

Holiday (JC) - she COUNTS ok!!!!

Aric Jorgan (RT) - cat boy husband

Khem Val (SI) - objectively one of the best companions, if not the best. he’s just so low because i have more emotional attachment to the ones above

MIDDLE FIFTEEN

Torian Cadera (BH) - super well written romance especially when you get to the GenoHaradan arc, an underrated love interest (at least in the circles i run in online). however. sir we need to have words about that facial hair. also i guess it’s not an old republic game without at least one character that makes me say “they are NOT a nineteen year old”

Kaliyo (IA) - i get that she could rub people the wrong way but she’s my bestie. plus she coined the nickname bug boy for Vector

Tharan Cedrax (JC) - the superior version of Doc

SC0RPI0 (IA) - they gave that droid madonna cone titties. also i was so excited by her since i found the previous agent companion so bleh

Malavai Quinn (SW) - time to drop a controversial opinion…i think he’s overrated. like don’t get me wrong he’s a fantastic love interest, he’s just hyped up a LOT compared to other love interests and i think he maybe only deserves like 85% of the hype he gets (which is still a lot!). i just think he has a lot of the traits tumblrinas go nuts for and then they act like that makes him superior to other love interests when that’s not necessarily the case. and i say this as someone who romanced and placed him higher on this list than several other love interests so im being objective here. on a more positive note his deadpan humor is greatly enjoyable, and i find it very entertaining that when his health bar drops but is still like halfway full he starts saying shit like “my death is imminent” overdramatic king

Xalek (SI) - the superior inquisitor apprentice

Zenith (JC) - let me romance him you cowards but im far less passionate about this one than i am about Scourge (yeah yeah the expansions i want him to be my MAIN story love interest in the origin)

Broonmark (SW) - i love my giant murderous fluffy alien monster baby

M1-4X (RT) - i do enjoy being told how amazing i am on a regular basis. the most egotistical character let alone the most egotistical droid but unlike other swtor companions he pulls off having one single character trait cause he’s funny about it

Doctor Lokin (IA) - the mad scientist thing is very cool but i feel like for me personally it was not as cool as it sounds in theory

T7-O1 (JK) - teethree 2.0 and since they made teeseven like several hundred years old anyway i genuinely do not understand why they didn’t just make him T3-M4

Lieutenant Felix Iresso (JC) - literally only exists for me as eye candy (and what a good job of it he does)

2V-R8 - they gave that poor droid anxiety

C2-N2 - i love my aromatherapy droid

Yuun (RT) - he’s just so nice! so pure, so wholesome. marge simpson voice i just think he’s neat

Talos Drellik (SI) - am a huge nerd over history and archaeology…literally me in star wars…so why don’t i like him more??? absolutely no idea it’s just a vibe. also not to be mean but according to the swtor encyclopedia he’s supposed to be younger than Quinn…bb girl you did not age well

Corso Riggs (S) - idk i mean he’s cute and all, and we’ve established that i love my autistic companions (plus he’s very luke-skywalker-my-favorite-character coded) but like he came across too young for me to want to romance him with the smuggler character especially with how superior the girl love interests are. Much potential as a bestie though

Guss Tuno (S) - i literally have no memory. could not tell you a thing about him. oh wait except this insanely hilarious line I came across the other day while casually reading wookiepedia (as one does) that goes pretty hard and honestly yoinked him up from the bottom of the list: “You've never known real rage until you've been lectured on controlling your emotions by a four-year-old in a robe.”

Sergeant Rusk (JK) - he sure is there i guess

Nadia Grell (JC) - i cannot wrap my head around anyone wanting to romance her. it just feels icky to me. like i can handle a lot of the power imbalances in the other romances but this one is just too much for me, especially if you’re a light side jedi

Ashara Zavros (SI) - yawn. she will never be Jaesa Willsaam no matter how hard she tries. pretty tho

Lieutenant Pierce (SW) - if i have to hear about the Bastion one more time i stg….ruined the trooper chapter three story for me. he’s not lower only because i enjoy that his dynamic with Quinn is literally just them

Gault (BH) - so one note and that makes me sad. yeah so are a lot of companions but he’s neither adorable enough or funny enough to pull it off. i guess he does have a sliver of likability such as his ex-girlfriend storyline that makes him able to endear himself to me just enough

HK-51 - sigh i guess it’s not an old republic game without an HK unit

Mako (BH) - grow some balls girl. i genuinely don’t even know why i hate her so much. you’re telling me this girl’s supposed to be a bounty hunter? don’t make me laugh. maybe if she develops a real personality. im so mean to her for absolutely no good reason i really do turn into a high school bully about this girl. if someone wants to psychoanalyze me and tell me why i despise Mako that would be much appreciated

When your boyfriend is a hero - Lukitty Week Day 2 2024

I had gotten distracted, but I did it. So, we've seen the episodes where Chat Noir has to be around Marinette, unknowing that she knows kitty better than he thinks. I did that, but with Luka. Reminder that this is set in the Wish universe where Luka is Scarlet Bug. Adrien has recently been given the cat miraculous and calls himself Bast Luck. Hopefully this still counts. It's still Adrien, he's just using a different name. @lukacouffaineappreciation Luka & Chat Noir (or in this case Bast Luck)

Luka knew this would have happened eventually. Getting sick from all the overworking. University classes weren’t bad, since he was doing a reduced schedule after getting extra classes done during summer break. It was just, Bob Roth decided that Kitty Section had to start their contract fully as school started for everyone involved and since the group wasn’t budging on those who helped them behind the scenes, most of the class was busy. Luka also knew a number of them would be out chasing akumas, thanks to the odd increase during the summer. Kagami had mostly spent it staying with Adrien, as her family was hosting Lila back from Japan, as she refused to return home and was apparently pitching a fit at the idea of staying at her new boarding school for the whole summer.

Akumas had been low for the summer, which was a blessing. With Su-Han taking over most of the Guardian tasks, Luka had actually gotten a break to go with Adrien to visit his family in Italy. The time there had been the subject of his first written piece for his songwriting class. Apparently, his classmates were a fan of the happy and in love emotions they got from the lyrics. Adrien used the recording as his new ringtone.

Anyway, now school had started back up and all the French heroes were busy thanks to Hawkmoth or Scarletmoth, who was showing up more and more. that added with Bob Roth’s brilliant plan to overload kids just starting new phases in their life and you ended up with Luka passing out in the middle of writing an essay so suddenly, Tikki freaked out and risked being seen to go find Juleka. Their mom was working in the middle of the French Riveria, and was ready to try and come back. Only, her current contract had actually been for charting the moving catwalk for a Fashion Week event, which turned out to be an unasked favour Jagged was doing for her. The pay check would set them up for their mom being able to stay around for a while, which they wanted, so Luka told his mom to stay put. Online classes were still done, but it did involve needing to replay recorded lectures over and set up a word document to text-to-speech live classes. Lying in bed meant he had time to work on assignments when the cold hadn’t muddled his mind. Tikki tried helping him speed along in healing, but like Plagg’s bad luck powers were a bit unpredictable, Tikki’s good luck powers were precise. She’d end up making him feel warm after shivering rather than break his fever. He appreciated the help non the less.

He was dozing off to the sounds of a book series Marc had recommended, an older one about fairies, their changeling warriors and the hidden princess of both Seelie and Unseelie courts, when the words about a war horse hiding behind long hair and beads was interrupted by the sound for an akuma attack warning. There had been one other attack during his illness and he almost ended up passing out before the fight even started. Bast Luck had to be the one to come up with a plan with his him, Scarlet Bug, Tigresse Poupre and Venom. He did well, but Luka didn’t want to place any of that stress on the others, not when they weren’t ready.

But moving…

After the noise from the notice stopped when he acknowledged it, the story started to continue only to be interrupted again by Juleka calling him.

“I don’t want you anywhere near that fight but you’re also the only one to get the akuma and make the charm, so listen ok? This is the plan.”

Adrien wanted to throttle Hawkmoth on a daily bases but today was extra desirable because Luka was sick, nonna had sent the recipe for her miracle soup for her favourite devil boy and instead of making a pot to drop off to the liberty – between homework, cosplay pattern making and trying to word an email to Roth for the pictures he was promised for Kitty Section socials – he was here, actually dealing with an akumatized XY. The DJ was jealous of the popularity Kitty Section was getting and was taking it out on his father. word of targeting the band only just came up thanks to the balding yapping dog throwing them under the bus.

“I think I should go look after Luka.” Adrien suggested, while the group of them sat crouched behind an XY billboard. It was the only thing the overgrown baby wouldn’t try and destroy. “The guitar player? He’s like the true leader right?”

“Only cause he’s older. Rose is the front man.” Tigresse said before shaking her head. “I can take care of him, or better yet, get Scarlet to look after him.”

Adrien wanted to point out that Rose was less likely to be targeted because XY seemed to forget she existed half the time but Vixen interrupted him. “Where is Scarlet anyway? I asked that like 4 times already.”

Tarasq spoke from his collar. “He’s the only one who can get the akuma, unless you know of some other way?”

“I think having the person capable of destroying the item with the main person targeted is a better idea.” Adrien interrupted, trying to get their co-leader to listen to him.

“Why not focus on Adrien Rossi? He’s gone up against XY.” Tigresse reminded.

“He was also akumatized and stole XY’s voice after insulting him. I think he’ll be fine.”

“Does that mean the drummer is fine? I mean, he was the first akuma and he’s big.” Venom asked.

“Ok, but what about Juleka and Rose? Juleka is Luka’s sister and like you said, Rose is the front man. Shouldn’t we go after them?” Tarasq asked.

“Couffaine!” the akumatized XY screamed. “Show yourself, you fucking blueberry!”

Bast Luck gave Tigresse a look that screamed ‘see?’

“Ok, fine. Bast Luck, you go protect Luka. I’ll take care of Rose and Juleka. Venom, you keep an eye on Ivan. You two,” she pointed to Vixen and Tarasq, keep him distracted. I’ve got a plan, but it’s not gonna work if he has hostages or keep making a mess.”

“At least the ScarCat program will get to be used if Scarlet Bug doesn’t show up.” Vixen said, nodding to Tarasq. “Come on. think you can play keep away with a fake guitar player?”

Adrien didn’t wait much longer for Tigresse’s instructions, heading towards the Liberty. Last he heard, Luka was going to try and work on assignments, maybe sleep for as long as he could. Adrien knew his relationship with Luka was public knowledge, so he wondered if XY would go to Adrien’s house looking for Luka. the DJ was an idiot, so maybe they could luck out. how he was going to explain Adrien being missing, he didn’t know, but maybe he could expose his old Cat persona’s identity. But that might make the older one not trust him if he was willing to give out secrets so easily.

He reached the Liberty, confused when he saw Kagami’s red car and Luka getting into it. He didn’t feel bad jumping down onto the hood like Black Panther, just that the shaking startled them so bad it sent Luka into a coughing fit.

Kagami opened the sun roof, so he didn’t feel bad putting his boots all over the windshield, ignoring the computer’s voice about something being on it. “What are you doing?”

“I’d like to ask you that. My mother might be blind, but she will know if there’s a dent in the car. This thing senses everything that goes wrong with it and gives a report.” Kagami said, looking annoyed.

“Luka is being hunted by XY and he’s climbing into a car with you. I’m allowed to be concerned. Also, the city can pay for any damages Scarlet Bug can’t fix.” Adrien said, ignoring his friend to focus on his boyfriend.

Luka finally caught his breath, his eyes glassy but still looking determined. “My boyfriend’s place, I was going to go there, but Kagami’s house has better protection. We’re going over to Adrien’s apartment now to get him. My sister is with her girlfriend and Prince Ali at Le Grand Paris. I don’t know where Ivan is, but he texted that he’s ok.”

He was going to have to text the accurate locations to the others, but first… “Don’t you think XY knows about your boyfriend? Isn’t he a diplomates’ son? The Embassies have the same standard protection as things like the Mayor’s office.”

Adrien didn’t know why, but Luka got this look in his eye. he normally got it when he was keeping a secret from Adrien for a surprise.

“I’d rather just be with him. I’d feel better if I knew he was safe.”

That was so sweet. And so not helpful. Adrien wasn’t home as he was currently staring at his boyfriend, trying not to get red.

And why the hell was Luka smiling at him like that?

“I’ll bring him. Adrien. You just go to Kagami’s house and I’ll make sure Adrien gets there safe.”

“Really? See, I’ll always be a fan of Catseye but I think this is one of the reasons I love you Bast Luck.” Luka said, resting his chin on the drivers’ seat as he stared up at him, giving him the soft smile Luka gave him when he thought Adrien was being cute.

Ok, time to go. Adrien was never approaching his boyfriend as a hero ever again. Luka wasn’t even flirting, not doing a single thing that could be considered that and Adrien was nearly a mess from a few comments and looks.

Luka felt a little bad making his boyfriend confused. He knew Kagami was going to get pulled in to fight since he and Juleka had to disappear to appear as themselves to keep XY on his toes. He had expected after Despera, Adrien wouldn’t want to split up – he had actually come to Kagami’s place, excuse that Bast Luck had to disappear to get back to the battle – but Juleka probably gave him some insistent demand that he needed to be there. As far as Adrien was aware, he’d left his boyfriend to rest inside the Tsurugi movie room while he took a while to get tea and get lost. While they were both gone and the house was empty thanks to Kagami’s mother being at the Japanese Embassy for some event or meeting, Luka was able to sneak back out onto the street. if everything was going well, Bast Luck should have XY’s item in hand with a Cataclysm and Scarlet Bug was going to show up to catch the akuma, before it spawned more.

The area by the fight was quiet except for XY’s yelling and the rumbling of buildings. He stopped by the front stoop of a building, trying to catch his breath. His hoodie was making him hot and the fuzzy pants was a choice but just a few more minutes and he could actually go back to bed.

“What are you doing here?”

Luka turned to see Bast Luck extending down on his staff.

Shit.

“Shouldn’t you be fighting?”

“Shouldn’t you be at Kagami’s house? I dropped off Adrien like I promised.”

“There you are, you blueberry!”

Fucking hell. XY, in all his weird, cheap Daft Punk look managed to get away and landed practically right on top of him. Luka spotted his sister, dress in her purple suit, looking panicked. Everything moved at once, XY screaming in anger, Bast Luck jumping towards them both, Tigresse yelling something and then the whole world spinning. Luka had to close his eyes to not be ill, only opening his eyes at the sound of Bast Luck’s staff. He was in Bast Luck’s arms, watching Ryuoko and Tigresse attack XY, rather violently. Kagami didn’t like XY and well, he’d do the same if the DJ tried attacking his sister out of costume.

The two landed on a roof a decent distance away and Luka felt worse at the worried look on Adrien’s face. “Are you ok? He didn’t get you did he?”

“No, no. I’m fine. thank you for saving me.”

Bast Luck looked annoyed, which, fair. “I wouldn’t need to if you stayed inside. You knew he was looking for you.”

“I know. I just…got worried he’d go after everyone else to get to me. I’m not exactly his favourite person.”

“I don’t think your boyfriend will exactly be happy with you when he hears about this.”

Luka knew that but if they wanted to end this now, Bast Luck had to get back to the fight. “He’ll be less thrilled if he finds out Team Miraculous couldn’t destroy the akuma in time.”

“Ah!. Ok, stay here! I’ll take you back myself ok?”

Tikki poked her head out when Bast Luck joined in attacking XY. “Poor Adrien. He’s gonna have a heart attack if Juleka can’t keep him busy so you can get back here. I’ve had some crazy experiences where holders don’t know everyone’s identity, but this had to be the most convoluted plan ever. You do plan on telling him right?”

“I will, just not right now. Once Su Han is more established as Guardian. Besides, it’s kinda cute watching your superhero boyfriend try not to overly panic when his supposedly civilian boyfriend is in trouble.”

Tikki sighed. “And here I thought my Egyptian holder trying to hide this from Anthony was bad enough.”

Adrien found Luka curled up on one of the reclining chairs Bast Luck had left him in. It was weird finding out he could easily lift his boyfriend when sporting cat ears, since he was so used to feeling Luka’s weight whenever he laid on him. Seeing him out in the streets, seconds before XY spotted him took years off his life. Scarlet Bug had really crap timing, taking so long, but thankfully Luka didn’t try any other crazy self-sacrificing ideas and was waiting on the roof after Tigresse insisted on talking to the whole team while Scarlet Bug disappeared after fixing everything and shoving an anti-akumatization charm at XY.

“Hey. Time is it?” Luka asked, blinking tiredly at him. He had seemed pretty exhausted when Bast Luck brought him back to Kagami’s house. As much as Adrien wanted to call him out, Adrien had been in the kitchen for 30 minutes getting tea, not fighting an akuma who was after him, his boyfriend and the rest of their band because he got jealous of the attention. As far as Adrien knew, Luka stay right there in his seat, not at all whisked away and scolded by a hero with cat ears.

“Not long. how you feeling? I was going to start making soup when Bast Luck came to get me. You do know it probably would have been safer to stay separated right?” Adrien said, putting the mug down on the flat armrest and managing to snuggle in with Luka on the chair, letting the older boy use his lap as a pillow.

“Juleka was with Rose. Besides, you can’t tell me you didn’t enjoy being whisked away by a hero.”

Adrien raised an eyebrow. “I’ve met Scarlet Bug, twice in a situation where I could talk to him. Wasn’t that big a deal.”

Luka gave this sleepy smile. “I don’t know. I think I really like Bast Luck. He was very nice. Cute too, up close.” Adrien cleared his throat, not annoyed at the comment but he had to keep the lie up. “but you’re cuter.”

Adrien ran his hands through Luka’s hair. “Go to sleep. Trust me, when you wake up, you won’t even think Bast Luck is cuter than me.” Not if he had anything to say about it. he was not about to compete with his hero persona for his boyfriend’s attention.

Now only if he’d caught the smile Luka wore when he was teasing Adrien with information he already knew, maybe it would have started to click for the Italian boy, but for now, the secrets of Scarlet Bug and Bast Luck stayed where they were.
