The Nazgûl hunt for Frodo in the Shire with a certain degree of futility in Hunt for the Ring. This seems like a classic bubble game for me. I like the systems, the movement and search mechanics are quite different from Furry of Dracula or Scotland Yard or Last Friday or similar games, and it’s pretty evocative of the early parts of The Fellowship of the Ring. It’s an interesting balance of searching, tactics, and bluffing, and the event cards give it more excitement than is usual for this genre. But for all the good stuff, it’s just kind of long, especially since it seems like you have to play both acts (the journey to Bree and the Flight to the Ford). If you play just one the victory conditions don’t seem to work properly and the Nazgûl will have a super-hard time winning. But the whole thing takes about 4 hours, which seems excessive. I’ve enjoyed my couple plays but I don’t know if it comes out again; the daunting hill that the Nazgûl have to climb to win seems the most problematic issue. Not sure. Rattlesnake does a great job ratcheting up the tension as the game goes on. On it's face this is a really gimmicky kid's game but,... well it is actually a gimmicky kid's game. But it is also a lot fun! Roll the dice and place one of your magnets on a snake matching the dice colour you rolled. First to get rid of all their magnets wins. Silly but fun.
