find out who the fuck you genuinely are. you're never gonna live your life if YOU aren't the one living it. once you get a start on finding who YOU are it's gonna make you more authentic -> more magnetic -> more attractive in every single way, including social.

i want to preface this by saying theres nothing wrong w this at all and i completely understand but ur gonna face some problems of people interacting with you. or you interacting w them. or both. i was diagnosed w generalised anxiety disorder when i was 11, so i understand how much this can impact ur life not just socially but in all areas.

⭐𓂃 ࣪˖ how do you deal with this?

first thing im gonna mention to preface is this can be a symptom of an underlying condition u may need to get checked out. if its impacting ur everyday life please seek therapy, i am not a professional and cannot help u w this, even if i'd like to. i love u ♡

find what is making u anxious. what about social interaction is scary to you, and why? why does interacting w others make u nervous? is there a specific thing ur worried about or u find nervewracking? always. find. the root!

have compassion and empathy and patience w yourself. its perfectly okay and normal to some extent to feel like this and of course we're all gonna feel like this sometimes but its important to treat urself with care, especially in these times.

treat urself as u would a child. i recommend treating urself like a friend a lot but when ur in a delicate and emotional state like this its better to treat urself like ur ur own child. take care of urself with the same love and attentiveness as you would your own children and give yourself time and take care of yourself to work through the issue. ♡

break things down and take it slow and simple. break it into steps and PUT. YOURSELF. FIRST until u feel able to go back out into the public again and be That Girl ♡

this can be anywhere from just being generally disinterested in people, being constantly negative all of the time to being just really shitty and rude. we all have the same potentials and possibilities but sometimes we can fall into the trap of negative patterns when interacting with others, which is okay. everyone messes up sometimes. but the important thing is is that we fall back out of that and become even better for it!

try ur best to put ur ego aside and think about yourself from an outside perspective. would you wanna be friends with you? if you were another person, how would you think people feel around you?

(🗒🎀 note: if that's too difficult, create someone in ur head or mentally assign ur traits, the good and bad, to someone you dont really know, and think ab how youd feel around them. insecure? jealous? confident? excited? nervous? think about it.)

i know it sounds weird but literally just sit down and talk to people close to u when you get the chance or the opportunity comes up and ask if anything you do comes off rude or blunt or abrupt or any sort of negative trait you think might be the issue here. or just subtly (or directly, either one works) try and find out their opinions on you so u can figure out if that aligns w what and how u wanna be, and then how you can change that.

just be generally more sweet and polite. people are easily gonna like you more if ur not a total dick. stop being mean to people, say please and thank you, compliment strangers, smile at everyone, put ur ego aside cuz its really not that deep girl.

okay being nice is not a bad thing. there is a fine line between being THE nice girl and being A nice girl. there is a fine line between being kind and being a pushover. you don't have to sacrifice urself to be nice to people. being nice should go both ways!

first things first, like all things and like i've said a billion times before, you need to address the root of what is causing you to act like this. this should always be the first thing you do when addressing any problem, esp w urself. why are you acting like this? what is causing you to endlessly seek approval like this and sacrifice urself in the process? think.

start saying no to people, even to the littlest things. if you want to do it then sure, but start saying no so much more often. it gives you a sense of control and shows you only you have a choice in the things you do in ur life, no one else.

define kindness. is what ur getting in return to this unconditional self sacrifice genuine kindness, or friendship, or respect, or attention, or whatever else you assume you're receiving from all of this? only you can answer that. ask urself what the genuine meaning of all the things ur trying to gain from this are and then see if that aligns w what ur receiving. (🗒🎀 note: also read this post of mine for more on this! ♡)

i told my therapist once that people have told me i seem rude, unapproachable, intimidating, etc. and i felt really upset about it because i dont wanna come off that way. i wanna be nice and approachable and someone people can talk to. and she asked me what i would do if my favourite celebrity or famous person or whatever was my age and was walking through my school. i told her i'd think they were really cool and want to be friends with them, but wouldn't be sure how to go about it bcuz they'd be super intimidating. think about that.

🗒️🎀 note: but if you do find that people say this or act like this around you a lot, then you might need to do some introspection and ask urself if anything ur doing makes people feel like that rather than their own insecurities and mindset. ♡

Geto had 2 work his ass of in his 1st year 2 rid of his dead name and being assigned 2 lady dorms and uniforms. The first person he told about being trans was yaga, and yaga being as based as he is helped him get reassigned 2 male and all things associated with it.

He's allowed 2 use male changing rooms and bathrooms no problem, but he still avoids using em at all costs. He changes in the men's room and not in the lockers, and he doesn't use the bathroom unless ABSOLUTELY NESSESARY.

He worked out alot alot 2 get the body he wanted, but I like 2 think that he's insecure about his waist being so snatched, so that's why he wears baggy pants. Best way 2 cover curves is baggy clothes and hard work.

Gojo don't know he's trans. He's completely clueless. And yeah six eyes does alot and all that, but he can only see the flow of CE around the area and others. It's not like he has x ray vision and can see that geto don't have a dick. So, for the most part, geto is in the clear. Geto goes great lengths 2 avoid anything relating being shirtless or talking about his body when it comes 2 gojo. The 1st ine for obvious reasons and the second one in fear he'll say something that might give him away. He's clear since gojo doesn't have a lot of interest in working out or perving on people in the first place. It's not like gojo wants 2 see him naked or anything so yk.

Ofc at some point during 2nd year he told shoko about being trans only bc he forgot his pad and all the sudden it was THAT TIME OF THE MONTH. randomly in class it started but geto had totally forgot 2 prep and that he got periods in the first place. Shook didntcare and that didn't really suprised him, but he was still scared bc he thought "a pretty girl like shoko might be stuck up, and she's not one 2 soften up her opinion just because she's talking to a friend." (Objectively pretty girl = probably the most rude lady he'll ever face, and gojo also has this fear with women but times 10000)

I like 2 think that the higher ups are kinda bitches about the whole trans thing so they try and stop people from being able 2 have a smooth transition unless they have parental support. (Which for geto was awful but he alr had done all the shit before they started enforcing that rule. It didn't end up applying 2 him but it stressed him out a shit ton.)

He also prefers 2 deal with his injuries alone since it's easier for him 2 get undressed and deal with it himself without prying eyes. Gojo hates this since I like 2 think he wants 2 help geto with everything (in an annoying insufferable way).

What’s the talk like?

Aside from how sex ed should be more like an ongoing conversation, there is an extra layer to it about heats and those hormones. On the other hand no periods so that’s not a layer?

When do you learn if you’re an alpha/beta/omega?

Usually at birth. That being said, beta females and omega females aren’t distinguishable until puberty (or w genetic testing), and some beta females are hard to tell apart from alpha females at birth, but are usually distinguishable before kids start attending school. In general, alphas are identified at birth.

Is there bad sex ed?

Of course there is! In my worldbuilding heats span from mild inconveniences people carry on their daily lives during to disabling. Os with “lighter” heats might not realize they’re having them. But since there’s not really much hiding, only O females really have a chance at being surprised. I write things in fairly equal proportion — like, alphas are equally men and women — so there’s not a ton of assumptions about what someone is.

What do people do for work during heats?

Work if they can, call out if they can’t. It was historically an issue for hiring omegas, because the assumption was that they would need a bunch of time off over the season (roughly spring to fall), but in the modern day there are protections. You’d probably need a doctor’s note for irregular heats, since most Os would be able to say something like “four days every eight weeks.” Cycles vary a lot, tho, as few as once per season to more than once per month.

What do two alphas do if they fall in love?

Assuming modern times, they’re just omegaverse-gay? Historically A/A wasn’t accepted in many cultures (ie ones M/M weren’t accepted in), so y’know. Sex wise, they do what works for them. And the alpha on the bottom would probably squeeze their knot so it’s not like. Uncomfortable.

Do heat cycles sync?

Yes and omegas absolutely nest together. A lot of the submissive + horny stuff is triggered by alphas being around so groups of omegas sometimes end up basically having a sleepover for a few nights until they decide they’re interested in taking a partner.

Alpha sex workers for in-heat omegas?

Absolutely. It’s definitely more publicly acceptable than sex work IRL but still probably not something you discuss more than once with your parents. (Y’know, like, a “this is what I’m doing now” convo and then u don’t discuss it again.)

Especially for Os who live/work around alphas but aren’t partnered. They might get the unpleasantness of wanting an alpha but not have anyone.

Chastity play/denial?

Would focus more on not being touched during a heat than not having them. I write heats as — not the exclusive time of sexual arousal, but certainly the center of it.* That being said, taking heat suppressants could totally be a kink? I think it’d more be from the angle of like…your own pleasure being secondary. Than denial.

*I write heats based on estrus cycles, and while some animals with estrus cycles have sex out of heat, it’s less common. In general, time out of heat is going to be a period of low libido, but not zero libido. Depends on the O.

“let them have emotions” no, fuck that. u can have feelings like that or whatever, i’m not trying to police ur thoughts but 1. acknowledge that u need to work on those feelings for the sake of ur kid and 2. keep those feelings to ur fucking self.

and if u absolutely HAVE to talk abt them, do it privately, when ur kid’s not around, when no other trans kid who might be in a similar situation could hear. if someone asks u if u feel like that when ur kid’s sitting right fucking next to u just lie, or at the very least tell them uve been working on it (which u better have been.)

because it makes it seem like u think ur kid’s transition is abt urself (which i sometimes wonder if u mfs do think that), and it makes ur kid feel like they cant explore their own feelings abt them feeling like they killed the little girl/boy they used to be, even if its not related to gender or being trans at all, heck, maybe ur trans son feels weird abt thinking he “killed the boy he used to be” bcz of smthn else like depression or smthn and he feels weird abt thinking that bcz u talked abt how u feel in mourning for his past self and it made him feel super icky (or vice verca w/ ur trans daughter or enby kid).

parts of this go for other insensitive shit u could say to ur kid during their transition (“i’m worried it could be a trend” “hormones/blockers r just so dangerous”, comparing medically transitioning to girls developing anorexia due to diet culture, etc.)

i’m sorry, i know i should probably be sympathetic to parents going through a kinda (and partially rightfully) scary change but if ur saying or doing shit that negatively affects ur kid, even if u didnt mean it that way fuck u, idgaf abt how u feel abt it, how u feel like u lost a child, how u hate ALL surgeries (but especially an unnecessary one), how after a few hours of facebook research ur worried it could be a trend, how ur worried that using their name/pronouns might confuse their younger siblings (who would probably easily understand a simple explanation with the option to ask questions after if explained right), i do not give one single fuck abt ur self-centred, uneducated worries.

you might have good intentions or whatever but this shit is gonna kill your child, i’m sorry. and if it doesnt kill them its gonna make them hate u, both now and when theyre actually able to medically transition and live on their own.

and honestly, even if they do figure out “oh hey, i’m actually just cis but with a kinda complicated relationship to gender” i promise u they arent gonna thank u profusely for bringing up the worry that theyre not actually trans or making their transition so much harder and slower, theyre gonna hate u for making them scared to question their gender anymore incase u turn out to be right and u think u did the right thing which would both feel shitty for them personally for obvious reasons but might also hurt their trans siblings or the trans kids whos parents might be in the same facebook group or whatever.

and theyre very much gonna hate u for overlooking their feelings, doing stuff they know u know makes them actively suicidal, and not caring enough to look at actual resources for parents trying to support their trans kids better, preferably written by a trans person themself, and instead go to, again, ur mommy facebook group where ur bsf posts terfy memes and abt how “she doesnt want her teenage daughters in the same bathroom as perverted men!” (both “daughters” also being trans boys who coincidentally are both insanely suicidal, cope in unhealthy methods, and talk shit abt their parents the moment the topic of them comes up) and where they fear-monger abt how ur young impressionable girls (and probably boys too) are being taken advantage of by the evil transgenderism movement and how its a social trend for them to mutilate their bodies, “just like how girls would starve themselves to fit in when we were teens!”, and thats in the rare chance that they DO detransition.

Falling for U by MoonlightxStars - gonna be honest, it's been a hot minute since I've read this one, but i vividly remember being on the edge of my seat for any chapter updates. it's about lup and barry growing up together and slowly falling in love. this will break ur heart and then glue it back together and then repeat that process like, five other times. it's so good and i will put it on my read later list again bc i need that experience once more

When We Run Away by Voidfish - barry and lup in the middle of stolen century and then after it, w the same prompt each time: "run away with me". this one is bittersweet and happy all at the same time. it's vv much captures the "we're in love but we have so much work to do for everyone else" vibe of the stolen century. highly recommend it to literally everyone, it makes me wanna cry sometimes aaaa

ok so freshmen year advice ! my first year was mostly online so idk if that’s how yours will be depending on how covid is there but anyway ! def go to office hours (when possible and esp if u need help) and try and form some sort of relationships w ur profs/ta’s. even if it doesn’t go anywhere you never know when you’ll need a favor down the line like asking for an extension or smth. don’t buy textbooks unless u absolutely need to try and wait until classes start and ur profs tell u what u do and don’t need and even then look for things online ! also check out ur library bc a lot of the time they’ll have the books available either a physical copy or online. ofc try and make friends maybe it’s just the absolute nerd in me but it’s so easy to get caught up in academics and this whole culture of overworking urself but u need people to not just survive but thrive ! killing urself over a class truly isn’t worth it and rly remember to take care of ur mental health. if possible find people who recognize that bc it’ll help u rmr that ur wellbeing comes first ! i feel like college is super hyped up to two extremes where it’s either partying like crazy or driving urself insane w school work but a balance does exist and don’t be afraid to go at ur own pace. esp if u have classes on zoom focusing is so so hard please rmr it rly isn’t ur fault if things are tough bc college is hard already and having things be online and isolating makes it even worse ! try and use social media and clubs to meet people if classes aren’t working for u and whatever in person classes u do have try and capitalize on those ! everyone struggles w making friends and college in general so if u find urself having a hard time i promise it’s not just u! also u mentioned poc experiences so i wasn’t able to meet a lot of other poc specifically desi people my first year and i wish i had bc i think that community of those who understood u and ur culture can be so vital ! def try and find even just one person u can connect w that way :-) the first year is a lot of playing things by ear and just figuring things out along the way and i’m sure you’ll be able to 💖 if u have specific questions lmk wishing u the absolute best <3

In ur opinion what are ways to nail an interview? I've been stuck in the same job for too long simply because i have no confidence for the interview process. So like why waste their time yknow. It's one of my niggest personal flaws.

i thikn you. did an unfortunate typo sweet anon. but anyway

1. update your resume and add specific info on what you actually did not just yr official position description (they basically never fully match. if you did extra work or work above ur paygrade add it for sure. add volunteering work if you do it and its not sensitive info). i know thats not interview but people bring up stuff that wasnt in the resume often and its like ?!?!? if id read that id have put u on the shortlist way way faster.

2. at the interview just b chill. you dont need to be all outgoing or whatever, you just need to present yourself as you are, explain your work and skills and sound reasonably confident. again this doesnt mean "project a dif personality", just b prepared give full answers and mention some important details abt your work exp. if you have a portfolio or smth similar, mention it. you are literally the expert in your own work experience so feel entirely free to act like it. if you are especially proud of some stuff youve done you can point to it here and there, thats not a waste of time and you never know what will get the interviewer interested.

3. do not give one word answers, explain your answers ESPECIALLY when theyre abt work experience or skills. if you have niche skills or stuff thats only tangentially related to skills or place you work at, but its related to where youre applying to, bring it up. sometimes candidates casually mention stuff out of nowhere tht fits perfectly w what we want and everyones happy abt it. even if you dont do that, full answers give us room to respond and ask abt any details that got us interested. if you dont, we literally just dont have enough info abt you to make a decision.

4. this def varies from place to place but the early questions of "wht r ur goals or strengths or weaknesses" or stuff along those lines are usually like...freebies. the answers themselves dont matter that much as long as you dont say smth insane and can explain your answers well, so just prepare some (honest but strategic) answers beforehand for those and use them to build up some rapport w interviewers and confidence in urself.

5. lie strategically. dont make stuff up esp if you cant back it up somehow later, but feel free to exaggerate your own achievements or similar things.

6. do research please do research. a 5 min check of the website or socials of where youre applying to will give you all you need it really doesnt take a lot. if you can find a page dedicated to the area you applied to thats even better. itll help you feel more confident, makes you able to bring up some projects you read abt to pretend youre interested in and ask more in depth questions abt the job and area (which will likely benefit you as well).

7. ask questions. prepare some beforehand if you need to (abt pay rates, how the team/dpmt you are applying to work, how many ppl r in it, etc etc) but if some come up during the interview ask them too. it shows interest and also its just good for u.

8. its gay but listen and smile and nod. it worked for me and it works On me. monky brain jus like to see other smiley monky :-)

a voltron au? in 2020? it’s more likely than you think

look. LOOK. i know that voltron is stupid and we hate it but lets be honest: everything up until season 3 was pretty good and had lots of potential !!

today i was rewatching voltron and a thought struck me: what if, instead of shiro being cloned, he was chipped and turned to the side of the galra?

so here it is, i did not blink since i thought of this

(warning, i have not seen voltron in a while and this is just knowledge i have stored in my moss brain and stuff i know from rewatching the first season)

au where shiro goes evil bc of what happens @ end of season one instead of the clone thing bc 1) haggar rly could not have made thousands of shiros after bumping into team voltron like what twice? its hella improbable and 2) just… weird

so instead they insert a chip in him that helps them spy and control him just like kuron (the clone) did minus the unlikely storytelling

eventually after the convo with sendak when he was in the pod trying to temp shirp, he does have thoughts about helping zarkon

(“im already infiltrated with the arm, i could just speed up the process by leaving now. save the team the trouble of investing in a leader that’s doomed to fail from the strart.”)

shiro ends up leaving team voltron in season 2 after zarkon goes crazy w the black lion n stuff

^^ this adds to Keith’s reasoning of joining the Blade of Marmora (shiro is his main stability and one of the main reasons he even stuck around with team voltron, so with shiro gone and keith questioning his place as the leader and paladin of the black lion, he decides the BoM is just.. what’s best for him) 

obviously lance isn’t happy with this (“you just told me that i’m a valuable member, now you don’t think YOU are? what logic is that?”)

ofc keith goes anyways

lance becomes paladin of the black lion

allura takes on the red lion

who has blue lion? ...idk this isn’t that thought out (maybe matt after pidge finds her family) (which will happen earlier in the plot since we can forget about the miniplot of black no longer responding to shiro)

enter lotor only this time he has a sidekick and what omg its shiro wow

shiro has that bigger version of his arm that was once offered to him

he’s stronger and scary, but his eyes aren’t the same, he has the strength of a galra but lacks the passion 

in the fight between lotor and zarkon, (and after, of course lots of self doubt and questioning) shiro comes between them and convinces lotor NOT to kill zarkon

then zarkon kills lotor

everyones like oh shit bc surely someone who’s life was just spared wouldn’t kill the person who seems to have the most power

but he did. bc he’s zarkon. and he’s fckn crazy.

shiro doesn’t go back to team voltron bc its too much too easily

instead he takes the place of lotor in the group of gals 

he convinces them all to rebel against the galra

eventually they teach him all about quintessence and all the shit lotor had planned that they can’t do anymore

(lotor wasn’t harvesting alteans in this universe bc what the heck even was that subplot that had little to no relevance to the main storyline?

instead he was trying to find a way to technologically bring back alteans (kinda like how allure’s dad was originally preserved in s1)

i know nothing about How Stuff Works and i dont remember much about quintessence n shit but the basic idea is that when tying in some of a persons artifacts with technology stuff and some quintessence then boom. a weird route from astral projection land to the team is created and ppl can come back or smth idfk

but lotor was never able to get the comet so shiro decides he and the gals will get that comet and try to bring back as many alteans as they can

^ all this while infiltrating as many galra fleets as possible + saving planets under galra empire

they personally visit every planet that lotor was in charge of and release them from galra control

they are able to bring back an altean (its romelle) and she talks abt her friend who lives on the balmera and they go to the balmera and its revealed that it was shay’s great grandmother so romelle asks where shay is and shay’s family is like with team voltron of course

so

they take her

obviously team voltron, the BoM and the Rebels r very hesitant to make contact but they decide to try it out

keith refuses to meet, instead he’s on the team that stands guard

reunions !! 

romelle and shay hit it off and hunk makes a dinner much like roselle’s past (allura and coran also hang out and they all vibe)

lance talks to shiro abt everything to do with keith and shiro is like dude do u??? like him?

and lance is like what? no ofc not—oh shit.

and keith ✨overhears ✨

pidge matt and shiro catch up n shit

meanwhile keith is like Hey Lance Uhhhhhh What The Fuck

they end up being like hey since we’re all here and we hate zarkon what if we make a plan to end the galra’s reign Right Now

so they do

and y’all.. it’s hella baller plan

except something is going wrong and in the middle of an attack zarkon is able to get the upper hand 

due to haggar’s magic and lance’s mental and emotional instability, zarkon is able to get in his head

everyone is trying to talk him down but they’re all under a lot of pressure

allura is also conflicted bc she wanted to be black lion bc she wanted to rub it in to zarkon’s face that she was stronger than he and that she could beat him at his own game

but the negativity and instability feeds into zarkon’s power and makes him and haggar stronger as they pull in voltron to finally take over the team and regain their status as the most powerful alien race

hunk realizes this and is like okay can y’all stop being negative? its clearly affecting them in a good way and it makes us an easier target

and pidge is like im literally a child pls i don’t wanna die i just got my family back it can’t end like this

shiro realizes what’s going on and he goes to save them

he uses all his energy, pulling in the positive memories (everything: first learning about space, becoming a teacher, meeting adam, meeting keith, first making team voltron, his friends and family--all of it) to push back zarkon and haggar’s powers and battle once more in the astral realm 

in defeating zarkon, shiro loses his life

afterwards keith enters the ship in a hurry and is like where the fuck is shiro where’s my brother what did you do what happened

and team voltron is like hey man.. we are so so sorry

and keith cries because the last thing he ever said to shiro was mean

lance feels like its all his fault since he was supposed to be a good leader

they talk about separately while hunk pidge and allura discuss

krolia is like keith we, ur family, are here for u

and axca is there and shes like um?? hey?? sry for trying to kill u bro

and he’s like i absolutely do not wanna talk i just lost my closest friend

they talk about it later

axca tells keith abt shiro finishing lotor’s work and abt bringing people back and well.. 

they use the methods to help keith visit shiro in the astral realm

shiro is like oh uh hey i was just having a drink w adam we r happy

and keith is like shiro u fuckhead why would u sacrifice urself

shiro sighs bc cmon keith you KNOW why “remember what i always said? we can’t focus on what went wrong..”

“we’ve got to figure out how to make it right” keith finishes

keith breaks tf down crying and screams apologizing

and shiro is like yeah i know and ilyt but hey. everyone’s safe and happy. im safe and happy. & you deserve to be too. you don’t need me anymore.

so the galra rule is over and everyone goes to their respected planets

romelle and the other alteans as well as some galra babes hang in earth

romelle and shay r in an apartment together and have a garden

allura realizes she may not have been the strongest leader for voltron, and  couldn’t stop zarkon on her own but that physical strength doesn’t define her as a whole

her heart is strong enough to care for everyone, so thats what she does

allura starts running an inn for alteans filled with painted sceneries like altea in case anyone ever needs a reminder of home

when lance reunites with his family its a real tearjerker

rachel finally gets her jacket back and veronica is like So.. Axca 👀

the McClain’s host a huge party for everyone and it’s filled with lots of hugs and loud music and even tho lance was way too tired, he danced all night

he wouldn’t trade his family for the world—genetic and chosen

when hunk reunites with his parents they don’t let him out the house for hours, he tells them all about his new best friend shay as well as hundreds of his favorites stories from space

they are so, so proud of him

hunk spends the next days playing minecraft and animal crossing with pidge, giving their brains a rest from being on hyperdrive for 3 yrs straight

when pidge gets home she finally gets grounded by her mom, only being allowed to leave the house to see her old teammates

(same for matt and her dad)

(her mother cries so hard when they opened the door to the home)

the holt family holds movie nights filled with popcorn, cuddles, and tears

keith moves in with the holt family, and finally accepts that he has a home as well as a family

he often goes on trips with the BoM but mostly just stays on earth

after a Team Voltron sleepover in the altea inn keith and lance decide to get an apartment together and live their lives in love and in peace

everyone gets together once a year in celebration of shiro and the sacrifice he made for them

they use the ship to visit Astral Shiro and once they even met adam

everyone laughs and catches up and just... live their lives

everyone is happy

Hi there! Just saw an old(?) post u wrote abt racism in spn and i have a couple questions.. First off, u talked abt appropriating cultures eg with the wendigo ep and native americans, which ive also seen other ppl comment on. I dont exactly understand wheres the line in fiction between honoring a culture and appropriating it, would you please explain more abt it? I dont mean to come off rude, ik im ignorant abt it and i didnt know who to ask who actually knows what they re talking abt.. and you seem like you do. And my second question is: in that post u also mention djinns and how spn got their myths totally wrong. Do you perhaps have any links/recs to read up on that? Thank you!

this is a really googleable question and educating urself is work that u should be able to do without just picking a random person off the dash that looks like they know what theyre talking abt

lucky for u i like hearing myself talk so ill give u an answer. the first thing is that some cultures or certain aspects of cultures are totally off limits to outsiders, meaning that there is no respectful way for outsiders to write about or practice them. a lot of indigenous religions and religions of the african diaspora have a lot of closed practices and so in this case the most respectful thing to do is to just leave it the fuck alone.

the second thing is that when u are trying to write abt a faith u arent part of u need to give it both accuracy and context. ep2 of the show isn’t an accurate retelling of the story and it doesn’t give any of the context for the wendigo as only one story in a larger belief system. there’s a similar issue w the djinn. djinn are just one part of islam, and the story has a PURPOSE (as does the wendigo story) that the show decontextualizes. if the original story that ur retelling has a specific thematic purpose (eg the wendigo story is about cannibalism and greed, the djinn story is about free will and faith) but u get the story wrong and completely erase its purpose in order to tell a stupid white centric story (s1ep2 is just a silly monster in the woods story, s2ep20 is a character study of a white man), thats racist!

the third thing, and i hope this was obvious, u need to have people of the culture ur writing abt both in front of and behind the camera. they should’ve had ojibwe people and muslim people both as characters (FLESHED OUT characters who are respected and not gorily murdered) and as writers. this one is self explanatory. so.

this is not a comprehensive answer its just off the top of my head u should do more of ur own research and read more from people (esp writers) of color who have already written TONS of articles abt this, instead of picking out random people to ask a complicated question to bc u clearly cant be bothered to do a google search. this is a great interview that you should definitely watch/read
