How do Red Cedar, Minted Glacier and the children of Obbi, Rainier and Polly cope with the death of their lovers/parents?
Btw, I love how much thought goes into this interesting and fun AU!
Thank you so much!! I’ve been having a ton of fun with this AU; it really lets me go outside of my usual comfort zone in tone and characterization and I’m really loving the exercise.
Red Cedar’s whole family has a pretty long history with the Apples, with her father’s friendship with Bright Mac, her mother’s friendship with Applejack, her sister’s relationship with one of the (surviving) Apple cousins, and her own relationship with Rainier. So, after a number of their loved ones get taken from them by this horrible evil, it’s no question that the two families would join forces. Cedar is treated by the Apples like one of their own just as much as her own parents love her, so she has a lot of support. Which she’ll need since she was most likely pregnant with at least one of her and Rainier’s children when he died (not sure which one but there aren’t 14 of them in this au). She’s absolutely devastated without Rainier, but she hardly has to parent alone with the whole family helping her.
Minted Glacier and Cherry Berry Sherbet would get a very large inheritance from Polly no question, but of course no amount of money can fill the hole he left with his absence. Mint would become very paranoid knowing his husband was murdered by such a powerful evil, and he would probably become an extremely private individual in an effort to protect himself and CheBe even though that evil is gone. But he would also want to do some good with all the money that he’s been left with. In the spirit of Polly’s philanthropy career but in a way that is much more concretely helpful, he would donate much of his fortune to help the families of all the others that were killed, like he would appreciate being done for him if he had any financial need. Of course he keeps enough for himself and CheBe (and his sister and parents too) to live comfortably for the rest of their lives, but the vast majority of that money is donated to a selfless cause.
As I get to Obsidian, I should explain that the timeline of the horror AU is a little different from the timeline of the original Auraverse. In the OG universe, Obbi and Yngvlid don’t get together until Obbi’s son Volcanic Jasper is about 12-13 years old, but there’s no way Iolite would wait that long to start killing. So, Yng and Obbi get together much earlier in Jasper’s life (which works because they knew each other for much longer anyway). Also, I like to think Iolite spent some time isolating herself as the evil gradually took over her mind, giving Crash enough time to at least get Obbi pregnant even if he doesn’t get much time with his son after that. After both Crash and Obbi are dead, Yngvlid sends the young and orphaned Jasper to live with his Uncle Mountain Peak to keep him safe on the off chance that there’s still any lurking evil watching her. Since Mounty is permanently single, she believes he has the lowest risk of attracting any of Iolite’s wrath, if she did have any power to resurrect Sombra-style.

Mountain Day
Looking for a thrilling adventure? Explore the breathtaking heights, stunning vistas, and diverse wildlife of these majestic landmasses!
Head into nature to enjoy the beauty and appreciate everything it has to offer on Mountain Day!
History of Mountain Day
Enacted on May 23, 2014, officials in Japan announced that they would celebrate and promote Mountain Day as a public holiday in the country. The purpose and idea behind the day is a simple one: get to know and appreciate the mountains and the blessings that come from them.
The law was put into action in 2014 but wasn’t actually enforced until 2016. For the years prior to the bill entering into law, it was a grassroots movement of mountain and outdoor supporters, as well as the Japanese Alpine Group, who lobbied to make the day into reality. A National Ceremony for Mountain Day that happened in the Japanese Alps at Kamikochi in Matsumoto, Nagao on the first celebration of the day.
An important argument for the bill was that the Shinto beliefs, which have deeply shaped the culture of the Japanese people, teach that mountains and peaks should be celebrated as an important part of nature.
And since approximately 70% of the landmass of the country of Japan is made up of mountainous areas, honoring Mountain Day seems like a fitting tribute for such a place. The highest and perhaps most recognizable mountain in Japan is Mount Fuji, which comes in at 3,776 meters at its peak, and is one of the country’s three “holy mountains”.
Because the day, August 11, had already been set aside by various local authorities, it was decided that it would remain the day. But even the date is fitting and appropriate as many people have noticed that the number 8 (for August), when written in Japanese, resembles a mountain, and the number 11 resembles two trees.
Mountain Day Timeline
 1992
Sustainable Mountain Development adopted by UN
As part of the Conference on Environment and Development, the United Nations adds documents for managing the mountains as a fragile ecosystem.
 1996
Mount Everest disaster occurs
A storm kills eight climbers in the mountain’s deadliest season to date. Several survivors will write their memoirs about the occasion.
 2003
United Nations declares International Mountain Day
Working toward a healthier earth, the UN founds International Mountain Day on December 11.
 2014
Mountain Day announced in Japan
After lobbying by the Japanese Alpine Club and others, Mountain Day or “Yama-no-Hi” is declared as a national holiday, though it has been unofficially celebrated for many years.
 2016
Mountain Day enacted in Japan
The previously announced Mountain Day becomes law in Japan and is first officially celebrated this year.
How to Celebrate Mountain Day
Enjoy the observance and celebration of Mountain Day by taking advantage of opportunities to appreciate mountains and get out into nature. Try out some of these ideas for celebrating Mountain Day:
Head to the Mountains
Those who enjoy everything about the mountains can grab a group of friends and get to climbing! Whether your skills are novice or expert, this is the day to practice and improve them. Maybe it’s just a short hike for a half day, or perhaps it’s a week of backpacking through rough terrain and scaling seemingly insurmountable walls. Whatever is fun for Mountain Day is what matters!
And for those who may not feel much like climbing? Well, they can just head to the foothills and appreciate the view while on a drive or enjoying a picnic on the scenic route.
Perhaps it’s the Rocky Mountains, the Himalayas, the Andes, or the Alps, every continent on the planet has its own mountain ranges that bring texture to the landscape. So consider Mountain Day the perfect time to celebrate these unique and wonderful aspects of nature.
Enjoy a Film About the Mountains
If this happens to be a work day, or you live far away and there’s no time to actually get to the mountains, perhaps a good way to spend the day might be to channel that inner mountain climber and watch a story about the mountains and nature instead. Check out some of these movies that might aid in the celebration of Mountain Day:
Everest (2015). This film was based on the true story of adventure and survival that happened in May 1996 during a climb that was attempted on the summit of Mount Everest. At the time it was the deadliest climbing season of Mount Everest in history, with eight climbers dying over two days.
Into the Wild (2007). Another biographical adventure film, this screenplay was written and directed by Sean Penn, based on the 1996 non-fiction book of the same name by Jon Krakauer. It tells the story of Christopher McCandless who travels alone into the wilderness.
Meru (2015). This documentary chronicles the first ascent of a particularly challenging route, the Shark’s Fin, which is a 4000 foot wall that exists in Meru Peak in the Himalayas of India.
The Climb (2017). A light-hearted look at mountain climbing, this French comedy adventure film tells the real-life story of a man who says he would climb Mount Everest for the woman he loves.
Visit Japan’s Mountains
Perhaps the ultimate way to celebrate Mountain Day would be to head to Japan to visit this beautiful mountainous countryside. In addition to Mount Fuji, the other two of the Three Holy Mountains include Mount Tateyama and Mount Haku. But that is only the beginning, because there are more than 18,000 other mountains in the country of Japan. The beauty of the landscape and the opportunities to enjoy nature seem almost endless in this small, archipelago country.
Make a Donation for Sustainable Mountains
In an effort to allay the damage that has been done to mountains through sports, tourism and human development, some charities have been created to help. Making a donation to a charity that supports the sustainability of mountains is a great way to celebrate and be involved with Mountain Day, no matter where in the world you are:
Sustainable Mountain Alliance. This organization is committed to measuring, protecting and regenerating the natural mountainous environment by the reduction of carbon emissions as well as the negative impact of human activity.
International Partnership for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions. Also known as Mountain Partnership, this non-profit organization is a voluntary alliance of various partners and members that are dedicated to the improvement and well being of the livelihoods of mountain people, as well as protecting and stewarding mountain environments all around the globe.
Kilian Jornet Foundation. A charity dedicated to the preservation of the mountain environment, this organization was created by Kilian Jornet, a young Catalan mountain climber and famous mountain athlete.
Run for Good. The ISPO global system for ecosports is particularly committed to raising funds that help to sustainability for the mountains as a vital part of the ecosystem. The efforts are to conserve, manage, protect, and preserve the natural mountain environment.

If you were a magical girl(tm)(regardless of gender) what would be the rock type that houses your powers/would be the aesthetician?
Mine would be amethyst or bumble bee jasper!
I think I would either go with peridot and have volcanic powers, or fulgurite and have electricity powers!

Two chains of thought for today:
First: another instance of Jake-oriented homophobic slander
When Jade questions Grandpa's decision to use geothermal power instead of nuclear (801), she shrugs it off as an example of his eclectic fursuits oops she means pursuits. The slip is consistent with Jade's furry coding but is otherwise incongruent with the page's content, unless we infer that the decision to use geothermal power was in some way bestial. Camels offer a solution: the twin volcanoes on Jade's island (her house is atop the smaller one) can be construed as the humps of camel, the arcs of which are occasionally superimposed upon the breasts. Jade's slip informs us that she finds milking the earth distasteful, in a sense: insofar as Jade herself represents the earth vis-a-vis Grandpa as Jupiter, its akin to disliking that Grandpa is extracting something from Jade... and since this would render Jade as the volcanic camel, the rhetorical 'fursuit' becomes Jade's own skin? So I think we have the colonial transphobia/homophobia angle again, posing the Feminine Man as an invader extracting femininity like oil.
This offers some explanation for why Jade reacts so strongly against fursuits on the next page -- within a sexist paradigm where women are posed as animals (later reinforced by the juxtaposition of Grandpa's Beauties with his game trophies), her irritable rejection of the fursuit as insufficiently Real is the rejection of cross-dressing as a path to womanhood. Rose picking leaves off of her tree modus (865) and subsequently picking a green box out of the huge green grid likewise strike me as subtle sexist barbs, coming as they do in the wake of Jade's woman-animal concerns.
Second: Sollux links abortion and terrorist bombs, I think
Volcanoes were explicitly linked to "females" by Karkat's "vomit volcano" quip, the eruption entails puking blood, and within the comic's anti-feminist circuits, this explosive image of menses is linked up with abortion. Sollux being a "sick hacker", understood as a retching, is a statement of his morbid femininity, and his being haunted by the "psychic screams of the imminently deceased" is a statement of guilt, of imagining the unborn agonizing over their imminent oblivion. Jaspers serves a similar function in relation Rose, becoming a ghostly child-like voice that encourages her to embrace her pretty princess planet
At the same time, Sollux is a terrorist, crafting innumerable bombs. His chat handle "twin armageddons", far from only representing his Gemini theme, seems to allude to the double-destruction of the Twin Towers: Sollux takes a weapon of the Orient (his ninja stars) and cuts open his skyscraper-looking computer, pantomiming 9/11. Afterward he is again possessed by guilt staring at the blood (well, honey) on his hands from the tower's destruction. I vaguely suspect that his double-i quiirk functions in part as an allusion to Arabic diacritics, much the same as Aradia's "pr0n0unced h0ll0wness" seems to allude to the dearth of vowels in written Arabic with her zeros (Or as Terezi's "num3r4ls of th3 bl1nd proph3ts" seem to refer simply to Arabic numerals, by way of an non-believing reference to the prophet Muhammad. Who knows, maybe the "missing" numeral 1 in Tavros's quirk was already present in his faltering commas, mimicking the function of the alif ا in Arabic writing as a glottal stop! But I digress)
These motifs intersect: when Aradia informs Sollux that the game will lead to mass death (blood on his hands!), we see the command "Sollux: Abort" as he tries to talk Karkat out of playing. And when Karkat blows his computer up with one of Sollux's bombs (more guilt!), Sollux aborts all his un-compiled creations to avert future fiascos. The apparent superposition of babies and bombs best related to WV's chess game, where Black mating White results in Brown exploding out of Pink -- as @randomuser678 observed in an old ask, defeat feminizes the loser. The losing cherub gets pregnant, period. Sollux castrates the WTC (a huge pissnozzle), and as the tower's inhabits yell at him (the screams of the imminently deceased, his own victims), we get the command to "calm those bees down", implicitly reducing the castrated losers to bitches ("bees") with a snap of his fingers. Later Sollux is in turn feminized, as Aradia puts him to sleep with a snap of her fingers, forcing him to become a vomit volcano (the mind-honey laser-blast/spit-take) and castrate his own tower.
That's my current assessment, at least

I feel like you saying this is like you're setting up a trap for me like:
🪤
Tumblr media
Well it worked, didn’t it?? /t
and AWJDHAKDHDFF THANK YOU!!! ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
Tumblr media
FIRST OFF... my beloved piece of petrified wood. oouughfff oh man I love it so much, probably my favorite out of everything
Tumblr media
previously-mentioned-in-another-post mystery rock!! still torn between it being either Amazonite or Adventurine
Tumblr media
ROCK WITH HOLES!!!! found it at the beach, have since never parted with it
Tumblr media
^^^ Aforementioned-in-another-post raw apatite :DD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rocks I found by the lake and thought were nifty
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO MUCH RIVER ROCK!!! A bit of cool gravel in there as well, not to mention a few minerals (including feldspar and a small bit of fluorite that I did not in fact get from the river)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in order - Dalmatian Jasper, Amethyst (which is actually a type of purple mineral quartz!!), and Sodalite, my first bunch of collected crystals :DD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in order again, Tiger's Eye, Rose Quartz, and the infamous Adventurine!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just cos' they're related in name terms, Bloodstone and Dragon's Blood Stone!! Dragon's Blood Stone is SO cool, the picture doesn't do it justice at all, but Bloodstone is still probably my favorite
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SOME OF MY MOST FAVORITE OUT OF EVERYTHING (I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but I really do love all of these rocks n crystals n minerals very much) Kambaba Jasper [WHICH IS ACTUALLY SEDIMENTARY-FOSSILIZED ALGAE. LOSES MIND] Malachite [LOVE THAT SHIT] and Unakite [which is just so pleasant. looks like a grass n flower field someone could run through I ADORE IT]
Tumblr media
Obsidian!! cool stuff, real shiny even without it being polished due to its microcystaline structure - if I recall correctly, its formed when volcanic magma cools so darn fast due to either water or air that the crystals it's composed of barely have any time to grow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Strawberry Quartz and Agate!! Agate is really just quartz in structure, but it looks cooler so it has a separate name (don't quote me on that, I'm not a geologist), really pretty stuff - I don't quite recall where either of these came from actually, might've been a gift from a friend
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we have Cream Yellow Onyx, which generally forms alongside Limestone (I think) and Howlite (which looks an awful lot like marble but its NOT, its actually a calcium borosilicate hydroxide mineral generally found in deposits of Something or Another <<< forgot)
Tumblr media
lastly, MORE MYSTERY ROCK!! I thought this was Gneiss for a while, given it looks vaguely like a metamorphic rock and the color scheme isn't all that off, but it could also just be plain ol' granite (which Gneiss metamorphisizes from given enough heat and pressure)
(the orange veins here and there may or may not be iron/rusting - not entirely sure)
I think thats all of 'em! Thank you for humoring me friend lmao, I always forget how much fun I have rambling about geology :DD

Note
what are your top five minerals
Hello thank you for letting me talk about rocks also you're getting more than 5
1. Quartz
Quartz is the best mineral by far. It's simple, found literally everywhere, but because of that it has so many different forms. Some of my favourite forms of quartz include
Amethyst (also my birthstone)
Tumblr media
Jasper
Tumblr media
Tigers eye
Tumblr media
Onyx
Tumblr media
2. Obsidian
Also known as volcanic glass, obsidian is an igneous rock that forms when lava with a very high silica content cools very quickly and therefore doesn't get the chance to grow crystals.
Tumblr media
3. Bismuth
Bismuth is a silver metal that doesn't look real but I promise it is. When it comes into contact with air, a thin layer of oxide forms creating the oil-slick colour
Tumblr media
It is very rare to find it in this structure naturally, unfortunately. The reason it forms in right-angles is because of hopper crystals, where the edges of the crystals grow quicker than their faces.
4. Pyrite
aka fools gold. pretty. here's one of my pieces
Tumblr media
5. Chert
Chert is cool because it's made from jellyfish (well, soft-bodied oceanic animals from millions of years ago). These pieces I got from northern Ireland, but the animals that formed them would have died when the UK was significantly closer to the equator
Tumblr media
6. Beryl
not just the name of your great aunts best friend, but also a mineral that forms gemstones such as emeralds and aquamarines
Tumblr media
7. Labradorite
I mean, just look at it. It's gorgeous. An igneous mineral found commonly in basalt and gabbro. It has a schiller (iridescence) known as labradorescence, which basically means it reflects light only in one direction that can't be seen under a microscope
Tumblr media
Honourable mentions:
Halite (tasty), alexandrite, garnet, rhodochrosite, tourmaline, septarian nodules (not a mineral, but a fossilised bubble of mud with cracks that have infilled with minerals, typically calcite. We always called them dragon eggs)

A genuine plum!
I was goofing around in about 4 feet of water Wednesday when I saw that flash of red that never fails to cause a little flutter in the heart of a puddingstone hunter.
The basketball-size boulder that caught my attention was mainly obscured in silt. I used my foot to rub it away. Oh, yeah - a keeper!
Sharon happened to be nearby on her paddle board. She floated over to observe the excavation. After prying the stone from the bottom, I wrestled it to the surface and loaded it onto the paddle board for transport back to shore.
Puddingstones are sedimentary-rock conglomerates that formed during the Ice Age. The distinctive chunks of red jasper were volcanically infused into the quartz 2 billion years ago.
They get their name from the fact that people who first found them on the shores of Michigan and Ontario once thought they resembled plum pudding.

Hey, hope you're doing well. I'm looking for devotional jewelry for Loki, and I know the main thing associated with him is snakes, but my family knows I'm not very fond of snakes so they would know something was up if I started wearing snake jewelry. What are some other associations you would suggest?
Thanks!
Hey, friend, I apologize for getting to this so late! I was never given a notification for this ask. đź’€
I think some other great associations of his are ravens, wolves, horses, flies, dragons (as Jormundgandr is considered a dragon by some scholars), skulls, mistletoe, and fire! These are all things he is pretty heavily associated with. especially these days. Common SPGs (not historically proven but shared between many modern worshippers) that I also see are spiders and foxes. Some UPGs of mine are butterflies (to represent his mastery over change and transformation) and aspen trees (I actually don't have an explanation for this one; I just think they're cool XD).
As for associated crystals (and this is SPG; I don't know if Vikings used crystals, really; that is a good question for @broomsick !), I have seen the SPG of volcanic/sulfurous stones (obsidian, hematite, fire agate, onyx, etc.), serpentine, fire quartz, smoky quartz, pyrite, multi-colored/color-changing stones (labradorite, fluorite, alexandrite, bismuth, etc.), carnelian, and tiger's eye. I have a UPG of kambaba jasper, prehnite, garnet, green aventurine, malachite, and petrified wood.
I hope this helps you figure things out! You can always get jewelry that is crystal beads, such as an obsidian beaded bracelet. Such jewelry tends to both be really discreet and pretty! Have a wonderful day/night. đź’šđź–¤

International Rock Day
The Rock or stone is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of one or more minerals or mineraloids. For example, the common rock granite is a combination of the quartz, feldspar and biotite minerals. The Earth’s outer solid layer, the lithosphere, is made of rock. Rocks have been used by mankind throughout history. From the Stone Age, rocks have been used for tools. The minerals and metals found in rocks have been essential to human civilization.
Learn about International Rock Day
International Rock Day has been created so that people all around the world can learn more about rocks. It’s not about rock and roll music; it’s all about the stone variety! After all, rocks play a big role in the environment, and they have been used by humans for many purposes over the years.
Three major groups of rocks are defined: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. The scientific study of rocks is called petrology, which is an essential component of geology. At a granular level, rocks are composed of grains of minerals, which, in turn, are homogeneous solids formed from a chemical compound that is arranged in an orderly manner.
The aggregate minerals forming the rock are held together by chemical bonds. The types and abundance of minerals in a rock are determined by the manner in which the rock was formed. Many rocks contain silica (SiO2); a compound of silicon and oxygen that forms 74.3% of the Earth’s crust. This material forms crystals with other compounds in the rock. The proportion of silica in rocks and minerals is a major factor in determining their name and properties.
History of International Rock Day
International Rock Day is a day for celebrating this substance, which has been critical to the survival of mankind. Throughout history, rocks have been used. Since the Stone Age, rocks have been important for use as weapons and tools. The metals and minerals that have been found in rocks are critical to human civilization.
Rocks are geologically classified according to characteristics such as mineral and chemical composition, permeability, the texture of the constituent particles, and particle size. These physical properties are the end result of the processes that formed the rocks. Over the course of time, rocks can transform from one type into another, as described by the geological model called the rock cycle.
These events produce three general classes of rock: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. The three classes of rocks are subdivided into many groups. However, there are no hard and fast boundaries between allied rocks. By increase or decrease in the proportions of their constituent minerals they pass by every gradation into one another, the distinctive structures also of one kind of rock may often be traced gradually merging into those of another.
Hence the definitions adopted in establishing rock nomenclature merely correspond to more or less arbitrary selected points in a continuously graduated series.
How to celebrate International Rock Day
There are a number of different ways that you can celebrate International Rock Day. One of the options is to do a bit of research on the different types of rocks that are available across the globe, as well as the different uses for these rocks. You can share this knowledge with your friends and family. Why not go on a rock hunt together? You can collect different types of rocks and learn about them. It is always fun to spend your time doing something different with the ones that you love.
Another way to celebrate International Rock Day is to enjoy an art project involving rocks. The best rocks for painting are those that can fit into the palm of your hand. The best surfaces for images and designs are rocks that have a flat surface and are nice and smooth.
You should also wash the surface of the rock and get rid of all of the dirt before you begin to paint. You will also find that acrylic paint works the best. You can use a variety of different types of brushes, depending on the sort of techniques that you want to attempt. When you are finished, seal the design. You can experiment with new colors and effects, creating different themes of rocks and exciting designs.
You can also spend some time learning about rocks on International Rock Day. After all, there is so much information about their formation uses, and much more. We will end this post with some fascinating facts to help you get started…
Some minerals and rocks appear so unusual that legends and myths have sprung up about them. For example, it was believed that snakestones were the remains of coiled snakes that had turned into stones.
Artists have used the colors inside some minerals and rocks for many years. For instance, cinnabar, which is the powder of a mineral rock, was used for art in the Middle Ages because of its brilliant red color.
Meteorites are pieces of metal or rock that hit the earth. Some have broken off to create asteroids, which are big rock chunks that orbit the sun in between Jupiter and Mars. If a big meteorite hits the Earth, it can result in a crater, which can change the surroundings of where it lands.

The burning Gondwana! | Gondwana em chamas!
🇬🇧
Finally, my favorite time interval! My studies in paleobotany focus on the Upper Paleozoic, and today I bring to you this paleoenvironment that illustrates what the Permian-Carboniferous was like in Gondwana. Drawing fire is always a challenge, but I really enjoyed the outcome. I sped up the time-lapse because the video ended up being really long. Each tiny leaf was drawn individually, which made the video a bit less dynamic in the end, but it was a very cool creative process.
I dedicate today's post to Dr. André Jasper. Jasper is one of the earliest Brazilian paleobotanists to dedicate his life to studying paleovegetational fires in the Upper Paleozoic of Gondwana. He is one of the leading global experts in the study of charcoal and fire dynamics in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras.
Let’s get started! 🔥
The Permian-Carboniferous, also known as the Late Permian, is a division of the Permian geological period that occurred approximately between 298.9 million and 251.902 million years ago. During this period, Earth was united into a single supercontinent called Pangaea, which consisted of two main landmasses: Laurasia in the north, and Gondwana in the south.
The flora of the Permian-Carboniferous was dominated by a wide variety of plants, including ferns, lycophytes, horsetails, and the first gymnosperms (seed-bearing plants). These plants formed dense forests in many parts of the world, especially in tropical and subtropical regions.
Paleovegetational fires in Gondwana refer to forest fires that occurred during the Permian in the forests of the supercontinent Gondwana. These fires are identified through geological evidence, such as coal layers, which are formed from carbonized plant material. These fire events were influenced by a combination of environmental factors, including dry climate conditions, the presence of combustible biomass, and volcanic activity.
Paleovegetational fires in Gondwana played a significant role in the evolution of plants and forest ecology during the Permian. Forest fires may have promoted the adaptation of some plant species to fire conditions, leading to the development of features such as fire-resistant bark and the ability to regenerate after fires.
At this point in geological time, the planet is transitioning from a climatic cycle of Ice-house (cooling, with presence of ice at the poles) to a Green-house (warming, absence of ice at the poles). This ultimately leads to the demise of peat bog systems in many regions of Gondwana, causing many plant species to no longer occur during the Permian.
🇧🇷

(Horror AU question) How would Varmint and Mounty react to their siblings’ deaths?
I think there would be a lot of mixed, mostly negative feelings. First and foremost both Varmint and Mounty have a very strong work ethic and would feel no choice but to push on without their siblings, going into survival mode and working even harder now that there are fewer hooves to take on the work. There’s still the whole rest of the family and a country in crisis that they need to take care of, after all.
I think Mounty would try to keep his head up about it as he always does. Along with coming up with new ways to streamline the extra work he has, he would be trying to share fun stories about his dead siblings to keep their memories alive and keep up a little bit of morale. He’d especially do so for the sake of his young nephew Volcanic Jasper, who I’ve established is under his care after his parents are killed. He wants the colt to grow up with some part of his mother. Mounty is not a stranger to losing close loved ones, but losing three siblings to a dangerous villain is much different from losing a grandparent to old age, so I think the loss does wear on him more than he wants to show.
Varmint would be a lot less chipper and optimistic about it. Three of her siblings just died and she will do everything in her power to keep any more family members from falling in harm’s way, even after the villain is pronounced dead. She’s stoic in attitude but also angry and hurt inside. Obviously she’s sad to lose so many family members and she’s angry at Iolite for taking them from her, but part of her is also angry at her siblings. Why the hell did Summer have to go and cheat? In a way, she’s the reason all of this happened. Iolite wouldn’t have turned if it weren’t for her disloyalty breaking her mind and heart. Why didn’t Brack and Obbi stick with the rest of the family when there was an active threat? Why didn’t they do more to keep themselves safe? Why couldn’t Varmint have done more to keep them safe? This put the whole family in danger. It really keeps her up at night.
