percy had an 'im a big three son' moment when he choked a goddess with her own saliva (controlling a fluid that was INSIDE her body) annabeth was terrified.
nico had an 'im a big three son' moment when he disembodied bryce lawrence (quite literally dissipating and shrinking his LIVING soul into a spirit) and threw him to the underworld, smashing his zombie warriors. reyna was terrified.
yet we were robbed of jason's 'im a big three son' moment where he sucks the air out of someone's lungs and makes them stop breathing, or damaging a person's nervous system with his lightning control, and literally cause internal bleeding, or a damaged/fried skull if he electrocuted hard enough (look up the effects of lightning damage on body y'all will get a whole list, tbh he doesn't even need lightning to do any of this, air control is more than enough since air takes charge of everything going inside the body, but this is just an added effect.) he could give people STROKES if he wanted to. he's the literal definition of burnt out kid who was suppressed from discovering the magnitude of his abilities, because one, his dad's ego wouldn't be able to handle it, two, because he, for some reason, can't be allowed to do anything other than get knocked out :/
also adding on, hardcore pjo fans know that after the ending page of boo, there's this fan story that rick chose to publish in the last few pages of the book where a fan reimagines the ending of hoo, in that work, annabeth collapses from an attack and percy sobs clutching her body. jason calmly asks him to step aside, and kneels before annabeth, jason regulates her breathing using his wind/lightning powers and brings annabeth back fully from her cardiac arrest, causing percy to be relieved. (I wanted to link the pics of the pages here so bad but I didn't have the hard copy of the book with me, and this isn't available anywhere online either, only in the original covers of boo uk and us version, so I edited this post and asked people to reblog this post w the pics if they have the hardcopy, and a kind blogger found the story I'm talking about and reblogged the pictures of the pages, you can check my reblogs of this post for the pictures of the almost all the pages after this scene) considering rick approved and even liked the fan's work well enough to publish it in the official boo book, I'd say rick was aware and never completely ruled out expanding jason's abilities and had them in mind, he simply didn't incorporate it into the books. (also W fan for giving jason the rep he deserves, I will always remember you, you saw the VISION before any of us did, the story was very well written, with great dialogue.)

Umm.. I LOVED what you wrote for Rick, you wrote him with a nice rough and sharp edge, and saw you're open to asks or prompts. Wondering if you could do a Rickyl with the boys both eyeing the reader while she's out and about in Alexandria and of course she's being hit on and pursued by a few of the boys (or negan? or someone annoying?) and .... not sure where it goes! but love the idea of Rick and Daryl teaming up on something like that, "Look at that, Daryl, he ain't enough for her. It's fun to see him try." Anyway. It sounded versatile, could go cute or filthy or smutty. I'm down for whatever. You do BEAUTIFULLY with Rick and Daryl. I haven't seen much of that and when I do... Yum.
"I wanna be yours. Both a' yours. You're a package deal, boys."
thank you for the prompt baby <3 I feel like this could work for quite a few different situations, but I hope you enjoy what I came up with!
(Rickyl x fem!reader, approx 1.3k words, no smut but still suggestive)
“Think we should go over there?” Daryl asked his friend, nudging at his elbow.
“Hm?” Rick glanced up, eyes drifting over to you, working in the garage across the street. “What? Why?”
“That guy… he’s tryin’ to make a move on her.”
Rick let out a dry laugh. And when he realized Daryl was serious he stopped. “Nah, she’ll tell him to get lost. Nothin’ to worry about.”
“It ain’t her I'm worried about.”
“Him?” Rick let out another chuckle, looking over at the guy. “He won’t get far. Trust me.”
He wouldn’t. And Rick knew that. The guy had approached as you were under a car, trying to locate the drain plug. He had introduced himself at one point, Kyle or Chris… something like that. You weren’t paying much attention. A little busy with the 5th oil change of the day. Trying to keep the vehicles in Alexandria that were actually working, in the best condition possible. And when buddy saw you peeking out from under the jacked up muscle car, he couldn’t help himself. Just had to come over and say hi.
“Hey,” He was sweet at first. Though you couldn't hear him over your music. “Hey!” He repeated much louder when you didn’t answer. The sudden noise startling the shit outta you.
“Fuck,” you responded, rubbing your forehead from where you bumped it on the vehicle. You shuffled back out from under the car and sat on the ground looking up at the guy who was interrupting your work day. Average build, brown hair. Probably pretty close to your age. Maybe a couple years older.
“Sorry! Didn’t mean to scare you.”
“It’s fine.” You had an irritated scowl adorning your pretty face. Getting up to turn the stereo volume down. And then moving to grab a torque wrench from a drawer in the garage. Shuffling things around, looking for the right size. You could still feel the guys presence behind you though.
“You need somethin?” You finally asked when you turned around.
“Oh no, I just saw you over here. Thought I’d say hi.” He smiled. “It’s a nice ride,” He lightly tapped a palm against the hood of the black muscle car you were working on.
“Mhm,” You responded flatly.
The guy's smile didn’t falter though. Instead he let out a little laugh.
“You’re not a big talker are you?”
“Just tryna get some work done.” You grabbed an oil filter off the counter, opening the little cardboard box and moving back around to the front of the car, getting back on the floor and scooting underneath to take the old one out. Letting all the old oil drain into the bucket beside you. Waiting so that you could screw the new filter in. The guy didn’t stop though. Told you his name, and asked yours back. Started talking about how him and his buddies are new to the community. That he lives just down the street, and he’s been seeing you around and just couldn’t help but come over. He thought maybe you needed help with something, since he’s soooo good with cars. When he started listing off all the vehicles that he’s had since age 16, you started to block him out. Finally, once you got the new filter screwed in, you shimmied back out from the car.
“Here,” He offered his hand as you sat up, wiping your own on a rag from your back pocket. You glanced over at the garage across the street. Both Rick and Daryl were looking over at you. Warning glances, coming from them both. You gave them a little smirk, and took the guy's hand anyway.
“Alright, I’m goin’ over there. He’s gettin’ way too close.” Daryl grumbled to his friend. Becoming more bothered by the second.
“Daryl, seriously. There’s nothing to worry about.” Rick wrapped a comforting arm around his shoulder.
“You keep saying that but-”
“Cause I’m right. Look, it’s not like he’s actually getting anywhere. Besides… we both know he ain’t enough for her.” His lips brushed Daryl’s ears as he whispered, “He wouldn’t even know what to do with her...” Ricks hand moved to squeeze his shoulder. “Kinda fun to see him try, though.” He smirked. Daryl just rolled his eyes and continued watching you from across the street. Waiting for any real excuse to step in.
“So… what do ya say?”
“Hm?” The man’s voice had snapped you back to his focus. You clearly weren't listening to him. Distracted by your men across the street.
“Do you wanna go out sometime? We could go for a drive… take this beauty out. Maybe even that bike over there. You ride?” He motioned to Daryl’s bike behind you.
You couldn’t help the laugh that left your mouth.
“That’s my boyfriend’s.” You told him, crossing you arms.
“Boyfriend?”
“Mhm.”
The guy smiled even bigger. Clearly amused. Though you were unsure as to why. “And where’s he? Why aint he helpin’ you with all this?”
“What? With an oil change? I’m pretty sure my toddler could figure this out.” You said. Thinking about how much Judith loved to play with the little plastic tool set you’d found her. But even with that comment, the guy really wasn’t taking the hint. You’d been stand offish the whole time, and thought you were being been pretty damn clear about how unavailable you were. He was persistent. You’d give him that much.
“Still, a real man shouldn’t leave such a pretty girl like you to do all his dirty work.” He was really close to you now, fingertips moving to toy with the sleeves of your overalls, tied around your waist. His gaze drifting down to your sports bra.
“Trust me when I say, the work they do is a hell of a lot dirtier than this.”
The guy raised an eyebrow.
“They?”
That’s when you could see them out of the corner of your eye. Hunters approaching their prey.
“Hey sweetheart,” Rick nonchalantly wrapped a loose arm around your waist, kissing your temple and then grinning at the guy. Daryl leaned up against his bike, giving that signature death glare.
“This guy botherin’ you, baby?” Daryl asked from behind you, his big arms crossed over his chest. You looked back at him and bit your lip, holding in your smile. Shaking your head, no.
“We were just talking.” The guy defended himself, shoving both hands into his pockets. Definitely intimidated by the new company. A tense energy filling the garage.
“Yeah?” Rick's arm became more possessive, pulling you closer into his side.
“Yeah. He was just leaving, actually.” You answered for him.
The guy huffed and mumbled something on the way out. You couldn’t hear. A little too focused on the hand trailing up your waist.
When the guy was out of earshot, you decided to speak. "You two weren't nervous, were you?” You teased, grinning up at Rick. He smiled back with a little huff of amusement. For Rick, the answer was no. Daryl, well, ... maybe a little.
Rick brought a hand to your jaw and caught your lips. Kissing you softly for a moment, with your eyes fluttering closed, savouring the feeling of his touch. His smell. Everything.
Daryl cleared his throat, prompting you both to turn your heads.
You giggled at his scowl, quickly leaving Rick's hold to go say hi to your other boyfriend. Situating yourself between his legs.
You wrapped your arms around his neck to bring him in for a kiss. Slipping your tongue in his mouth as his hands went to your hair. You could hear the garage door closing as Rick came up behind you, hands going right to your hips. Pressing himself against your ass, forcing you to be sandwiched right between them.
“I told you, Daryl,” Rick said over your shoulder, “With our sweet girl… we got nothin’ to worry about.”
Rick turned your jaw towards himself, kissing you once more. “Ain’t that right?” He asked against your lips. Pulling away only to let you answer.
“Yeah..” you respond, almost at a whisper. Your head all clouded with the feeling of their hands roaming your skin. “I’m all yours,” You turn to face Daryl, “Both a’ yours.”

Dazzler #19 (Fingeroth/Springer, Sept 1982). Ali’s powers are proving to be a surprisingly versatile premise for team-ups. Like, of course Black Bolt could enhance Dazzler. I know Rick Jones is not super at the moment, but his touring concert career seems obvious for a crossover…

i really liked your pjo headcannons post. i thought it was interesting, since most people always put physical touch as some of the main ll for the characters, esp leo n percy. do u have any other headcanons for either of them? it can be generic things, like what they would do with a s/o, or it can be weird shit idc? i swear ive read lit every single post to exist on tumblr n i need more
Oh my god thank you so much! This is so sweet. I'm surprised my first ever post is doing as well as it is. I expected to pass as pretty unnoticed in the beginning. I do have a lot of headcanons for the characters, but I'm going to do Leo in this one since he's my absolute favourite
Note: I haven't read the HOO books in a while, but I just finished my reread of PJO, so if any 'headcanon' is actually canon, please just pretend that I'm Uncle Rick himself.
Warnings: none
Leo Valdez Headcanons - loves sweet&spicy. If that's an option in the menu at the restaurant he went to, he will absolutely get it. He's kind of obsessed with it to the point where one might get worried about his taste buds
- if he had to choose between sweet and sour, he would absolutely pick sweet any day. That's not really the best considering he's very ADHD, even for a demigod and his intake of sugar doesn't really help much, but he just loves sweet. He doesn't care if it's chocolate-type sweet or sugar-sweet, he just likes it. You can bet that when he comes out of Bunker 9 after a long day, his tongue would be all types of colours because his 'meal' for the day was whatever candy was in his stash of sweets
- now if you made the choice between sweet, sour and spicy, he would struggle to pick
- he hates coffee. he's simply not a coffee guy. he thinks it tastes nasty, since we established he loves anything sweet and coffee is definitely not sweet. and he doesn't need it anyway, he's hyper as is. if anything, coffee makes him more tired
- i feel like he would get pretty into anime if he tried watching it. from the trending shonen, chainsaw man would be his fave, but in general he would be such a fan of one piece imo. he is that person who has unironically watched the whole thing like three times - he feels guilty when he isn't doing something productive since he feels this need to constantly be creating something, but he also loves to just get distracted by something and do his own thing for hours, even if there's no 'productive' outcome. so he 'wastes' his time and feels guilty the entire time, but the enjoyment he gets out of it evens out the guilt (what do you mean i'm not projecting on my favourite character... at all...)
- secretly a good singer. piper once caught him singing in the shower and then dragged him out and forced him to sing out loud because she was not expecting such an angelic voice to come out of him
- his go to karaoke song is 'cake by the ocean' by dnce
- i feel like he would learn how to play the guitar and he will be shockingly good at it. like he learns a song so fast and because his fingers are always doing something and tinkering with things, this is the perfect way for him to get his energy out while also having lots of fun
- i also feel like he would purposefully not tell anyone he learned the guitar and one day he just whips out this new talent of his and everyone's like '????'
- honestly, leo is just good at everything. if he wasn't a hephaestus kid, he would be a son of hermes, because he is such a jack of all trades. he is incredibly intelligent (which is canon, btw, and if it's not yes it fucking is have you seen the guy, he is borderline as smart as Annabeth, if not smarter, just in another flavour), but also anything he attempts to do, he succeeds in. he can draw, he can play the guitar, he can sing, he absolutely is a great dancer. you would expect he sucks at cooking but nope, there he goes, making a gourmet meal like it's nothing. he isn't much of a fighter, but if he needs to hold his ground, he can. he's just so versatile, you can barely catch him off guard with something he can't master in a few hours
I fucking love Leo, can you notice this from my post?? Anyway, I got too lazy to edit this after I wrote it, so if it's not grammatically perfect or things don't make sense, apologies and please let me know. I will post more headcanons because I frankly have too many. And a lot of AU ideas. I'm preparing one rn actually so... stay tuned? Maybe follow if you're interested in seeing more shit by me. - mia

I love Percy Jackson and I LOVE ranting abt it. Percy Jackson has a special place in my heart and I love ranting abt how I hate how they represent Apollo. Like I could rant abt how I hate how they represent Apollo then praise Rick for giving us Lester papadopoulos 😂
I understand you 100% since it's how I feel about Epic the musical 🤣.
I really love the songs, how they are composed AND simply listening to them, the cast's dynamic with each other, the animators' talent, Jorge's inspiration and him as an artist in general because he's humble and funny.
But I just find the story kinda decent at best, because yeah Odysseus isn't cheating on Penelope, we have the basics but on the other hand... too many changes, too many important moments of the Odyssey are either absent or mishandled, etc... I'm in the mood for rambling about every single choice I slightly disagree with.
So yeah, I completely understand where you're coming from, considering you find an adaptation fun but can see the inaccuracies and the potential for greatness by respecting the original story. And Apollo is a big example of why. There are so many cool aspects of him I rarely, if ever, see in adaptations. He's usually depicted as either this easygoing lover boy or as this stupid jerk who's full of himself. Or a mix of both depending on whether he's demonized or not. Neither of these two characterizations encompass the slightest bit of his complexity, his passionate nature as a deity, his status as a protector, a defender but also a bringer of plague.
Here's a thing about PJO I'd have preferred and would belong very well in an other adaptation.
Tell me if you agree : what if Apollo was the deity teaching the young heroes rather than Dionysus ? It just fits more (and Apollo could have some cute moments with Chiron considering he raised the centaur). We'd see how versatile he is with different domains and how he's protective with the youth, especially his own. He wouldn't even be punished to do that, he just would just accept to take some of his time to help the youth. Because Apollo didn't need to be punished to raise Chiron and Orpheus, did he ? Though that would imply not making the Olympians terrible parents all the time and respecting the source material 😅).
Yes this is yet another "let Apollo be Dadpollo" post. I'll never stop until I'll find something that satisfies me. I did find one story with Dionysus being intimidating so I have hope.
Speaking of Dionysus, I'd just let him be this fun exotic traveler capable of making a whole kingdom insane in 2 minutes, a wild card whose help always has unexpected consequences and overall some very theatrical support character with darker undertones.
(to the people who reblog, I'd prefer if you don't tag this post PJO or Epic since it's mostly me rambling about potential ideas and I don't want my post to invade either fandom space.)

Frying his backups (part 3)
(part 1) (part 2)
Okay. After plenty of thought I think I can take a guess on how:
(a) the thin cables and (b) the chair and (c) the thick cables
in Rick Prime's control room work (provided the theories that Rick Prime had been puppeteering other Ricks are true).
Tumblr media
1. I debated with myself for a long while whether Rick Prime sat himself on the chair or made his puppets sit there, one by one, each time they needed maintenance, while he stood over them (the back looks like it could recline; the feet? not so much).
Tumblr media
However, considering the chair looks like a throne, I'm leaning towards Rick Prime being the one sitting on the chair under "normal" circumstances ("normal" being when you're an evil jerk puppeteering hundreds of other versions of yourself for the lulz).
2. The thin cables protruding out of the chair are indeed part of the puppeteering throne. The question is:
(a) whether they were indeed designed to go to Prime's forehead, or (b) whether they were intended to directly connect to the brain implants of the Rick Puppets
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like so:
Tumblr media
(pardon the lousy art lol)
If the thin cables were intended to directly connect to the brain implants of the Rick Puppets (option b) then this means the throne was only used for maintenance, updates and inspection. Prime's brain implant was wirelessly connected to the throne, the throne basically being an intermediate equipment connecting Prime with his puppets during software maintenance. (He could also, like, stand and walk around his puppets to inspect them while holding the tablet. The very long cables of the tablet point to this). Prime did not need the throne for the actual puppeteering though, only for maintenance, which does sound more versatile. However, I don't really dig the mental image of five Ricks looming over Rick Prime, and I think he wouldn't dig it either :P He'd want them to be beneath him literally as well as figuratively. In addition, it's weird that there'd be equipment for casual puppet inspection inside the control room of his superweapon. You'd think he'd have a dedicated room for the whole puppeteering thing, with medical equipment, stuff for brain surgery etc.
So I'm leaning towards option (a): the thin cables were intended to go to Prime's forehead, similarly to how Eyepatch Morty placed them (only without an intermediary fingergun, of course). In this scenario, Prime was able to puppeteer "only" five Puppet Ricks at once max, one for each thin cable (or maybe even more, if each cable can carry the data for several Ricks). The throne contains the transmitter, or a transmitter amplifier of sorts, effectively functioning similarly to Evil Morty's eyepatch being the intermediate equipment. (On a different matter: five puppets at once is extremely impressive. Eyepatch Morty had to pause what he was doing in order to shoot Security Guard Rick through Evil Rick.) I'd bet that Rick Prime's brain implant is normally able to puppeteer other Ricks wirelessly, without the need of the throne nor cables to his own forehead, but the Rick Puppets being in different dimensions (in contrast to Eyepatch Morty being in the same place as Evil Rick) means he has to take some extra steps to make sure the signal reaches the other dimensions. And these extra steps involve the Omega Device. And suddenly there is a very good reason that the throne is placed in the Omega Device control room: it uses the weapon's connections to the infinite dimensions to reach the Rick Puppets scattered across the multiverse. The thick, apparently compact base of the throne probably connects the puppeteering equipment to the Omega Device's control panel. And there is an extremely good (practical) reason that Prime chose the intermediary equipment to be shaped like a chair: it was so he could be seated, comfortable and relaxed, without in danger of keeling over if his concentration wavered at any moment, and puppeteer his victims. It's also possible he used time crystals to freeze or slow time, permitting him to drastically increase the number of Ricks puppeteered live at any given time. In this scenario I would bet that the Omega Device is an evolution of the puppeteering tech: Rick Prime would want to send his puppets in various dimensions, and he'd need a way to stay connected to them wherever they were at all times, therefore he'd need some sort of tech that keeps track of the infinite dimensions... Hey, while he's there, why not improve the design to allow for the simultaneous murder of someone across the as-of-now-constantly-tracked infinite dimensions? (and with the possibility of this development, I'm suddenly very skeptical about what kind of improvements Eyepatch Morty has in mind. Maybe he could use the connection to the infinite universes to uuuuh simultaneously teleport all victims to a specific location, or to simultaneously add an implant to all victims or something)
3. Rick Prime would use his tablet, which is directly connected to the chair, to swiftly choose which Rick Puppets he is currently connected to. The pretty significant length of the tablet cables and the thin puppeteering cables meant he could probably stand up and walk around if needed, e.g. to the control panel.
(Or, if scenario (b) is true, the tablet was supposed to be used as demonstrated by Eyepatch Morty: to oversee his puppets, update the software, check for malfunctions, etc. Both tablet and Rick Puppets would be directly connected to the throne, so it checks out)
Tumblr media
It's possible both scenarios (a) and (b) are true or partly true; if, for example, there was relevant medical equipment embedded in the floor, revealed at the press of a button (there is plenty of empty space in front of the throne...) then it's possible all operations could be carried out fully and autonomously inside the Omega Device facilities.
4. The thick cables were not originally part of Prime's chair; they were part of the machinery embedded in the wall instead. They were part of the Omega Device, linking the control panel to the infinite dimensions. Eyepatch Morty puppeteered Rick Prime (lol) to get them out.
So the order was something like this:
Scenario (a) the throne was used for interdimensional puppeteering: Rick Prime (brain implant) > five thin puppeteering cables > Puppeteering throne > five Rick Puppets (wireless receiver in brain implant) alternating swiftly by manual use of the tablet
Scenario (b) the throne was used for direct maintenance: Rick Prime (via tablet) > Puppeteering throne > five thin puppeteering cables > five Rick Puppets' brain implants
I'm heavily leaning towards scenario (a).
Eyepatch Morty takes this whole thing and turns it around, right against Rick Prime:
Rick Prime sits on his stupid puppeteering throne, but he is the puppet now, because of the fingerguns. The throne that originally granted him infinite freedom at the expense of others' is now his prison. (nice)
His brain implant is connected to the five thin puppeteering cables of the throne, but once again, filtered through the fingergun. He can no longer control his puppets. Instead he as of now functions as part of the intermediate equipment of the throne.
Eyepatch Morty takes the thick cables embedded in the control room walls, which were normally used to connect the infinite universes to the Omega Device control panel, and hooks them up to the puppeteering throne. While the throne could previously connect with (probably) up to five Rick Puppets at a time through the Omega Device, Eyepatch Morty takes advantage of the entirety of the Omega Device to make a direct connection not with five Rick Puppets, but with ALL OF THEM. ALL OF RICK PRIME'S PUPPETS IN THE INFINITE UNIVERSES (that's probably why he had to connect all five thin cables to Prime's head; that's a lot of data)
Eyepatch Morty then stands over Rick Prime, taking advantage of Prime's own tablet, which was previously used to chose which Rick was puppeteered, to directly access the Rick Puppets' records and vaporize them all instead.
Or... I dunno. Does all this make any sense?
If I'm close to the mark, then no wonder Rick Prime was seething by the end. Eyepatch Morty did not just stun Rick Prime, kill his clones and steal his super-weapon; the addition of the puppeteering tech makes everything a lot more personal.
Eyepatch Morty beat him at his own inconceivably expert puppeteering game (five Ricks at a time!!), turned him into a puppet of sorts, desecrated his super-weapon, used Prime's own equipment, tech and symbols of power (the throne) against him, fried within seconds all of Prime's hard-to-maintain puppets, mocked him and finally stole the plans of his super-weapon.

Today July 13th is the birthday of the voice actor (in English) of Commander Peepers, the legendary Tom Kenny!! Well I think it's not a secret that this voice actor and comedian is well known for his extensive career providing his voice to different animated characters, so I think that every animated show that one can watch you can always find Tom Kenny in the credits of the voice actors ^^. And well, apart from voicing our beloved Peepers in Wander Over Yonder, we know that the most popular character he has given and continues to give his voice to is SpongeBob! Regarding the McCracken Shows, Tom Kenny has also provided his voice for the Mayor of the city, the Narrator, other characters in "The Powerpuff Girls", Eduardo and other voices in "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" and the alien Chuck in "Kid Cosmic". And he has also worked for other shows, I personally mention his work as Hue the AI of the Galaxy One in "Final Space". And well between shows we have: CatDog, Samurai Jack, The Fairly OddParents, Kim Possible, Codename, Kids Next Door, Danny Phantom, Cam Lazlo, Mad, TMNT, Rick and Morty, Clarence, more 🤩.
And well, something that I love about Tom Kenny, and which makes him my favorite voice actor in the USA, is that his voice is very versatile, making his voice different for each character, giving it a unique touch ♥. Therefore, we wish you with all our hearts Happy Birthday, Tom Kenny!! 🎈🎉

i just need someone to talk to about carol peletier 🥺
that woman is one of the most versatile and quick-witted characters in twd. she is also one of my favorite characters, because how could she not be?
when i first started watching twd, in season 1 & 2 i just remember being like “holy fuck give this poor woman a break,” i mean her husband was a sack of shit and then her daughter goes missing and turns... and then she has this immaculate character arc. i mean here's this pure, fragile woman who went from being a punching bag for her husband to a literal ass-kicking anti-hero boss ass bitch.
when i got through seasons 3 - 4, i was totally rooting for her! she was presumed dead in the beginning of season 3 but saved by daryl — which btw i have to say they are beautiful together (idk if i completely ship them but i am not against it and do love seeing them together; i’d say i’m a sideline caryl supporter rn) their friendship blossomed very quickly and i loved seeing that happen. season 4 was where carol really started to show her quick-wittedness; she killed karen and david to stop the illness from spreading in the prison. rick said himself later on (i think in like season 6) that he would’ve done the same. also during season 4, carol had to do something extremely difficult—and that was killing lizzie. she knew she had to do it, and she made sure not to let it eat her up for the rest of her life. i think that’s what i love most about carol, her strength. geez, that woman holds so much weight on her shoulders, but never fully lets it bring her down. she’s resilient.
my all time favorite carol moment was during season 5 when she blew up terminus. GODDAMN BADASS BITCH ALERT!!!! and ooohhh my god the look on rick’s face when he found out she saved them — priceless!
there are so many more epic carol moments, but if i talked about them all i would have to make a novel lol. needless to say, i can’t wait to see her on screen again with daryl. 🥹

Helvetica - The Documentary
Tumblr media
The Rise, Flatline, and Fall of the Modernist Movement's Darling Poster Child
Name: Helvetica (Die Neue Haas Grotesk) Parents: Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann Nicknames: "Perfection" / "Ubiquitous" / "Air" / "Ultimate Typeface"
1950’s - post-war period - feeling of idealism
Social responsibility for designers
More democracy, clarity, rebuilding
Early experiments of High Modernist period - Swiss style
1957 - HELVETICA IS BORN !!! - rational typeface for all kinds of information to present ideas in intelligible/legible way - loud and clearly modern
Interesting that early modernism (dadaism, futurism, surrealism) was more subversive and that functionality emerged later
Tumblr media
Would you use Helvetica in your designs?
I don't have particularly strong feelings toward it. Jonathan Hoefler says "it's like off-white paint" and many of the other designers in the documentary say it's like air. It's just there. I would use it if it matches the look that I'm going for, but I typically prefer more expressive typefaces - I'd probably manipulate the original form, at least. It's ubiquitous, versatile, and functional, sure, but why would I use it when there are so many other typefaces. Bit corporate. Bit SnoozeVille.
Like Rick Poynor put it (regarding designing with Helvetica over a period of time), “There’s a law of diminishing returns”. More exposure -> more use by designers -> more predictability -> uh oh it's dull now.
Tumblr media
No flavour is the point but that doesn't mean I have to love it.
Tumblr media
It's ok but why limit yourselfffff (to one type family). I guess to push your ideas as a designer. But experimenting outside that seems more fun to me. Some people favour restrictions though, so to each their own.
My view leans towards that of Erik Spiekerman (Gemini King), who says “[Type] just makes my words visible” and that “A real typeface needs rhythm, needs contrast; It comes from handwriting. That’s why I can read your handwriting, and you can read mine. And I’m sure out handwriting is miles away from Helvetica… But we can read it because there’s rhythm to it, there’s a contrast to it.” Obviously, you can't always read handwriting, but personally I'm pretty good at it and find it much more compelling than consistent, uniform typefaces. Spiekerman on letters designed to look the same: "Hello??? You know, that’s called an army. That’s not people.” This sentiment is interesting and appeals to me, because I like it when type has personality, as it's a means for social communication -- informed by people. Then again, uniformity is just another style. But, I personally like when you can tell that a human being made something with heart and intention, and if you can do that with Helvetica, then knock yourself out ig. Michael C Place expresses that though he doesn't know the fancy type terminology, he values the emotional response that type can bring and enjoys "the challenges of making Helvetica speak in a different way”. I can admire that idea: Originality with Helvetica depends on execution.
I do like how the designers in the doco describe the typeface in regard to the space between characters as opposed to the space that the characters fill. Mike Parker says “It’s not a letter that’s bent to shape; It’s a letter that lives in a powerful matrix of surrounding space”. The negative space is said to contain the characters which is an effective, formidable way to put it. Similarly, Massimo Vignelli says "typography is really white" which I find to be a refreshing perspective.
Would you use Helvetica for one context (type of work/audience) but not another?
Yes, as long as it suits the content, my vision/the client's vision. It would not be my first choice unless I was going for that neutral look, modernist style, or just maximising attention to the actual text, rather than its appearance.
Not as passionate about this topic as some designers involved in the documentary but it's fun/ny to watch them talk about it with such vigour.
____________________________________________________________
Michael Bierut: “In Helvetica. Period. Any questions? Of course not”
Wim “Gridnik” Crouwel:
“But if I see today's designers, they use all typefaces-one day one typeface, the other day the other typeface, all in favor of a certain atmosphere, I'm not... I don't like that... The meaning is in the content of the text, not in the typeface.”
Why must the meaning derived from either or be mutually exclusive ? Surely both the content and typeface can be used to amplify the message. It's about feeling and communication. Typefaces are just tools. Ricky P says type gives words "a certain colouring" which conveys a sense of a ranging intensity.
Paula Scher: "I was also morally opposed to Helvetica because I viewed the big corporations that were slathered in Helvetica as sponsors of the Vietnam War." <- Personal, moral implications.
Massimo Vignelli: thinks postmodernism is a DISEASE
Tobias Frere-Jones: Type Expression = important
“The same way that an actor that's miscast in a role will affect someone's experience of a movie or play that they're watching. They'll still follow the plot, but, you know, be less convinced or excited or affected.”
David Carson
“Don’t confuse legibility with communication.” I agree.
“If something is a very important message and it’s set in a boring, non-descript way, the message can be lost.” I neither agree nor disagree. Depends on execution.
Questions:
Why are there so many Michaels?
How was Erik's birthday?
Why do I prefer this typeface to Helvetica? It's cuter.

Doctor Who is such a great and versatile format and I'm surprised more stories don't copy it. One mysterious traveler, a number of companions, standalone adventures that can take place anywhere and anywhen.
I've seen only one book series that uses it (The Evaran Chronicles) and there should be more. And I guess Rick and Morty also counts.

Liana Elle Fayruz Beer.
Born on May 12, 1999, Los Angeles California, Liana grew up surrounded by art and creativity. Having risen to fame for her vocal versatility at just 13 years old, Liana Beer was molded to be a teen pop star until she took the reins of her own career, dedicating herself to confessional R&B with a mix of soul and indie pop.
Passionate about music, Liana Beer began posting covers on the internet in 2012. It only took four posts for her name to become known – her version of “At Last” by Etta James was shared by pop star Justin Bieber and went viral.
With the support of Bieber, who helped the singer sign with a record label, the first single was released in 2013. “Melodies”, which would be part of the singer's debut album, associated her with an image of a sweet teen star, reinforced by her participation in the track “We Are Monster High”, the theme song of the doll franchise aimed at teenagers.
Encouraged to follow the pop path, Liana released her second single, “Unbreakable,” in 2014. But the track distanced herself from the singer’s expectations for her own career, which led to her split with her record label and the cancellation of production of her debut album.
The repositioning in indie pop came in 2018, with the release of the EP As She Pleases. In tracks like “Dead” and “Home With You,” the singer invested in an R&B style and its success earned her an invitation to the 2018 Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
With the single “Hurts Like Hell” (2018), composed by the singer in partnership with British singer Charli XCX and American rapper Offset, Liana took control of her career and explored a dark pop style full of trap influences.
The shift was solidified with Life Support (2021), a debut album that reflects Liana's experience with depression and a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder. In the work that mixes R&B, soul and indie pop, Liana signs all the tracks and, since then, she has taken charge of directing her videos, achieving success with the irresistible “Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You)”, “Good In Goodbye” and “Selfish”.
Liana is known for her innovative and provocative music videos, such as "Dead" and "Home with You", which were inspired by the film "Jennifer's Body" and earned her an MTV Video Music Award nomination.
A fan of animated series, the singer has the word "Nightosphere" tattooed on her heel, a reference to an alternate universe of Adventure Time. "Homesick", a track in which the singer references space travel, ends with a sample of a monologue from the series Rick and Morty.
Liana has already been nominated for two Grammy Awards:
Best Immersive Audio Album: for the album Silence Between Songs at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards
Best Dance Pop Recording: for the song "Make You Mine" at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards
These nominations are a testament to Liana's skill and dedication to her art.
In addition to music, Liana is also a successful model, having worked with high-end fashion brands and appeared on the covers of fashion magazines. Her natural beauty and unique style have made her one of the most beautiful women in the world, according to Maxim magazine.
Liana is a multifaceted artist who not only sings but also writes songs, models, and has a passion for fashion and art. She loves traveling and exploring new places, and her dog, a beautiful Poodle named Presley, is her companion on these adventures.
When she’s not creating music or posing for photos, Liana loves watching movies and TV shows. Her favorite movie is “The Notebook,” and she’s fascinated by series like “Gossip Girl” and “Sex and the City.”
Liana is also open about her bisexuality and is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. She believes that music and art should be used as a form of expression and freedom.
Today, Liana is one of the most promising artists in the music industry. At just 25 years old, she has already won a place in the hearts of fans all over the world. Liana is known for her strong and independent personality, as well as her natural beauty and unique style. Today, Liana continues to create music that inspires and moves her fans. She is also a passionate advocate for women’s rights and gender equality. With her powerful voice and strong personality, Liana is ready to take on the world.

Things I learned in Day 10 of the challenge, Rick Z-6725.
(I'll start making this posts just to be a little record of my experience)
So, the main different thing I tried on making Z-6725, was testing Rough Animator, a mobile app, and I believe for now the only one, with the feature of making different frames and layers capable of overlaying each other and remaining shown, even when other frames are changing, all in the same canvas. (You can do that on other softwares, but manually in layers and not in frames, but on Rough Animator, it can all be different layers and frames.)
You see, one thing that bothers me DEADLY on Hipaint and Medibang Paint, is that they are against my happiness and simply are awfully overwhelming to me. Specially in the moment I have to export every single part of my drawing, and there are lots of lines underneath other lines, and lines lines linesUGHHSHWDIEHDIE and it sucks. Specially when there are more than one single drawing to be divided. So I tried rough animator as an alternative to solve the problem.
Positive points:
- The lining is smooth and nice, it feels less stiff than Medibang Paint and less laggy than Hipaint.
- The layers and frames thing allow me to see what I'm doing more clearly when preparing the frames to export and does not feel as overwhelming.
- Has fewer moments of low performance and lags.
- Does not crash.
- Amazing autosave, you can just close the drawing and what you did remains there when you open it again.
- There's a feature called "draw outside", which allows you to draw everywhere but in the pixels that are already in the layer.
Negative points:
- Quality sucks, pixels are blurred when zoomed in and I simply cannot stand that.
- Layers don't have a small screen showing the layer. The only way for you to recognize the layer is naming it, what is terrible for unorganized losers like me who doesn't remember naming layers.
- Don't have the "cut" layer, that allows you to draw things only inside the pixels of other layer. (There's something close, which is called "draw inside" that can only imitate this functionality by drawing in the pixels that are already in the layer - but the eraser erases everything, what sucks if you commit lots of mistakes.)
- There is only horizontal visualization (landscape). You cannot rotate it in vertical (what sucks a little for phone users like me, but I managed to fix that.)
- All the other layers get blurred except for the layer you're currently drawing in. (Which is great for performance but can be annoying if you're drawing with thin lines.)
- Don't export transparent images/gifs.
- The export is also weird, it doesn't make common png but always create an album for the work exported. What makes sense, but it's still not that versatile.
- The personalized brushes have limited configurations.
- Not really that much of a negative point, but the interface is not really user-friendly, you gotta have one good idea of what you're doing before using it
Still. I will use it again because I didn't had HALF the stress I had when drawing in any of the other softwares, besides all it's flaws. Nothing is perfect, but everything is possible.
And YET I gotta tell you guys that I simply CANNOT UNDERSTAND what the F#CK is wrong with me and WHY do I keep using softwares for things they are NOT MEANT TO BE USED.
Do NOT be like me, don't commit the same mistake mate, If you don't know what you're doing, DON'T USE FRAME BY FRAME SOFTWARES IN BETA *TO MAKE TWEEN ANIMATION*. Don't use a cup for sweep the floor bro, don't use a broom for fishing, ARE YOU UNDERSTANDING ME?

paperdolls, christmas, and gathering :D! -@strawbeaniie
Oh golly, hiii! And thank you for the ask!
paper dolls: does your f/o try to make things for you as gifts?
Oh, John makes something every year for sure. And not just for winter holidays! For any occasion, really. They're very arts-and-craft-y, made of a mishmash of colored paper, beads, glitter, paint and glue. But these gifts are also very creative and mostly functional (as in, useful for everyday life). He can bring new life to thrifted clothes, turning them into bright and bold outfit pieces. Other times, he'd make a collage or a bedazzled picture frame with photos of him and our S/I, but those are great too! It's sooo nice to see how much he cares <3 <3
Oh wow, that was long, haha! For others, Rick also tries to make the gifts himself. Emphasis on "tries", but he didn't get to make something very often, so it doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts! And, of course, Hatter is a hat-maker, so every year he goes out of his way to create a new unique winter-holiday-themed hat for our S/I. And who could forget North, the guardian of winter holidays himself! He makes something new every year, and most of the time it's toys, but he's so versatile that you never know what kind of incredible toy it will be.
gathering: do you have any traditions with your f/o?
Hm... Not at the moment! We're pretty new to selfshipping, so we didn't come up with any traditions with them. Of course, North and Snow Maiden (who we haven't talked about yet, but we will!) spend winter holidays together, preparing all the toys, letters and decorations, but that's a given, right?
We didn't know which one you meant by "christmas", so we picked
christmas vacation: holiday movies you like to watch together?
Oh, you know it's gotta be "Mickey's Christmas Carol" with... any of them, really! Aside from Scrooge, because he's probably heard the story a thousand times and knows the ghosts personally, ahfhdjf. Aaaand seeing his own lookalike on-screen would be a bit confusing. "Scrooge: A Christmas Carol" is another favourite! And we feel like we just wanna rewatch "Polar Express" and "Nutcracker and the Four Realms" just to remember what was in them. North likes both "A Christmas Carol" and "Nutcracker", so he loves seeing different ways these stories come to life, especially if they invoke this special feeling of wonder.
UPD: How could we forget "Klaus"?! We definitely rewatch "Klaus"!
